Day 8 of Regressuary

Theme: Lonely

Charachters: Berry and Queen Bee

Fandom: Helluva Boss

Summary: Berry learns that sometimes its okay to feel a bit lonely and that she doesn't always need to be regressed around people to be happy. She can just be happy with some alone time.

Authors Note: Thank you to @theogclownboy for helping me come up with this plot! Also, please reblog! It helps spread my regression content a lot more (esp because i realized my most recent fics havent gotten that much traction even though I put a lot of work into them) It just helps support me a lot!

Sigh.

Berry had been staring at her phone screen for about 10 minutes now, slightly swinging her phone from side to side to hear the gentle click-cling! Of her phone charm. She was soooooooo boooooooooored. After a not so busy day at the nail salon and a few days of canceled band practice due to scheduling issues with the rest of the members she practically felt like she was dying. She only talked to like 5 people max today! That was so not cool. She slunk further into her beanbag now feeling herself start to slip into littlespace, and frankly making things worse. She felt like she was so needy and attention starved when little. She just couldn't help it! Shes just a kiddo who needs to talk and play and run and urgh! So frustrating! Berry huffed looking back at her phone screen. 15 minutes now. 15 minutes and Bee still hasn't messaged her back. She knew she was probably busy but....it couldn't help but bother her. Not even her babysitter wanted to talk to her. Were people just avoiding her? She asked to herself now standing up to try and get her mind off of things. She pulled out her sippy cup and filled it with some energy drink to help herself out. The good thing about no babysitter meant that no one could stop her from having her energy drink! She giggled to herself while her tail wagged. "Im gonna be the most hyper princess the world has ever seen!"

Oh and she was the most hyper princess alright! Although the world couldn't see it. The world was too busy right now. Berry realized that about 2 laps into running around the room. No one to chase her....no one to chase....how in the heck was this supposed to be fun? She felt her hyperness settle down a bit as her mood had once again been ruined. One more glance at her phone got her heart rate all the way back up! Then plummeting down as she realized what the text message said:

💬 Sorry honey bee! Im at a sins meeting right now! I'll be busy for a few hours but as soon as im done ill be over there right away! Just in time to tuck you in!

In time to tuck her in? That was like forever from now! She would only get to see Bee when it was time for bed! "Urgh! It's not fair! Why doesn't anyone wanna play with me?" Berry said as she stomped her foot and threw her phone on the couch. She immediately plopped down onto the ground stubbornly and gave a big "hmph!". Although....no one was here to give her reassurance or talk her out of pouting anymore....what was the point of pouting if it wouldn't fix anything? Just make her feel worse? Berry sighed and got up picking up her phone again now sending back a message.

💬 Bee-Bee! How do I not be bored by myself?

This time Bee replied within a few minutes

💬 Oh honey that's easy! Some games need 2 people but other activities just need one! Like drawing or playing with dolls. Use your imagination! You have a big one and I know it! Now i really gotta pay attention but i'll talk to ya l8r baby bee! 💖🍯🐝

💬 Bye bye Bee-Bee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After sending her last message Berry put down her phone and thought for a second. She loved a lot of other activities! But a lot of them she did with Bee....although she just had to be creative! Berry began to pace around the room to think of something to do. Something she could do with just herself. It finally popped into her head! The ultimate girls night! But just with herself! A berry night!

It took about an hour to set up but Berry finally did it! She set up her own pillow fort, had a movie up and running as well as her coloring book and nail kit nearby to do both her and her plushies nails! "Bee-bee is gonna be so proud of me when she comes! Then we can....oh wait we can't. Bee-Bee's coming home late...." Berry said with a whimper as she felt herself getting sad again. She sat in front of her plushie peppermint and sighed. "Whadda I do peppermint? I did everythin Bee-Bee said buh I still feel lonely....no one wants to talk to me or-or play or anythin! No one wants ta be around me....except you and Usagi..." Berry said sadly in reference to her GIANT pink bunny plushie. "I guess if you and Usagi are here im not alone then..." Berry said after a bit of consideration as her ears perked up slightly. "Yeah....yeah! Im not alone because you're here for me! When no one else can be! And I know you both love me! And-and so does Bee buh shes just busy....and thats okay! Because im with my best-est-est-est friends in the world!" Berry said as she scooped up Peppermint into a tight hug and held the little plushie close to her. "I think im okay now. All the nasty lonely is gone an now its time ta have some fun! With my own night! Its a berry night!" She said as her Berry Night went on with lots of movies, snacks, coloring, popcorn, and fake gossip filled her night with fun. Maybe being by herself wasn't all that bad sometimes! She could simply just make her own fun.

Eden had been staring at her phone for forty minutes straight.

After waking up, her thoughts had been running constantly. She didn’t have a costume, she wasn’t in the mood to go out, she had just turned 26. All she had done since waking up an hour ago was shower and brushing her teeth. She stood in her kitchen, still wrapped in her towel and her wet, unbrushed hair just dangled over her shoulders.

She knew she was overreacting, but everything reminded her of the things she desperately wanted to suppress.

She had been staring at Nick’s messages from the previous night with a weird feeling in her stomach. She didn’t even know what brought her to the point of agreeing to go to a party. A birthday party of a man she didn’t know, while she also tried to suppress the thoughts about her own age.

She was snapped out of her thoughts, when her phone began to ring. Her sister.

Should she answer?

She continued to stare at her phone.

The call went away.

Thank god.

She blinked for a couple of seconds, while she felt her heart beating so fast that she actually thought for a second, she was going to have a heart attack.

Then her phone rang again. Her sister again. She bit her lip for a second, before she sighed. She knew, she couldn’t ignore all the calls for the whole day, so she grabbed her phone and answered with a simple “Hello.”

“Took you some time.” Her sister answered and Eden could picture the sweet smile plastered on her sister’s face. Her little sister Raven was four years younger than her. At first, her parents hadn’t really planned on having another child, but when her mom fell pregnant with Raven, they were all over the moon. Eden couldn’t remember most of the time before Raven was born, but she remembered vividly how excited they all were when she finally was here.

She always had been the complete opposite of her older sister. While Eden was rather quiet and liked to be alone, Raven enjoyed the company of each and every individual around her. Raven liked to speak; Eden hated it. Raven was great at school; Eden wasn’t.

Even though they were basically polar opposites of each other, Eden loved her dearly and they always got along. But things had changed after Eden moved away from their hometown. She found herself not liking the company of anyone anymore. She knew it hurt Raven, but at the same time she felt like Raven was the only one that understood her and her decisions.

“Sorry, I was showering.” Eden quietly answered her little sister.

For a couple of seconds, it was rather quiet. It seemed like Raven tried to find the right words.

“I know, you hate it, but I wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday.” Raven began. “Mom told me to wish you all the best from them too, but they didn't want to bother you any longer than necessary.”

Eden swallowed. She knew she had been a pain in the ass the last couple of months, but she didn’t realize she had driven her parents to the point of not even wanting to call her.

She tried to swallow her doubts, before mumbling a response. “Thank you. I’m sorry for being so quiet.”

“Oh… Don’t worry, Eden. We love you.” Raven answered her quickly and tried to sound as happy as possible, but Eden heard the worry in her voice.

“I’m going to a party today.” Eden than exclaimed, to calm her sister’s nerves and seemingly it worked.

“Are you for real?” Raven exclaimed excitedly. “Yes, I am.” – “Where? Who? I-…?”

Eden laughed quietly. She really missed her sister. She really did.

“A friend of mine invited me to the birthday party of his friend.” Eden answered her sister with a small smile on her face.

“A friend or a friend?” Raven then wanted to know. Eden knew for a fact that Raven was wiggling her eyebrows while asking that question.

“A friend.” Eden rolled her eyes. She knew this was coming.

“Sorry, I was just asking.” – “You know, it wouldn’t be this way before you even asked, Raven.”

“Yes, I know. I just wanted to make a joke… I’m sorry.” Raven apologized.

After that, it was quiet again.

“Please don’t be mad at me, Eden.” – “I’m not, Raven. Don’t worry.” – “It was really insensitive of me… Considering, you're not-…” – “It’s really okay, Raven.”

It was quiet again. Eden wanted to cry because of the awkwardness.

“I… You know… Imma... I need to go.” Raven then said and Eden’s heart hurt. This was exactly how she didn’t want this to go.

“Okay. See ya.” Eden then answered and soon the call ended.

Eden felt bad. Everything felt bad. She just wanted to curl into a ball on her couch and never move again.

She looked at the clock and realized, she needed to head out sooner than later, to find a costume, if she wanted to be on time for the party. So, she sighed and got ready. Before she went out, she ate a bowl of cereal and then grabbed her keys.

While she was walking to her car, she covered her head with her hand. It had started to rain like crazy.

Right as she reached her car, her phone buzzed. It was Nick.

Nick: Just wanted to see if you would come tonight… Nick: I mean, since you didn’t answer yesterday…

Eden starred at her phone for a second, before she answered.

Eden: was about to head out to get a costume

She thought for a second, before she texted again.

Eden: maybe you wanna join me?

Nick instantly answered.

Nick: send me the location and ill be there

Eden sat in her car, nervously biting her fingernails as she waited for Nick to arrive. The Halloween store's neon sign flickered above her, casting a somewhat spooky glow on the damp pavement. She glanced at her phone and saw a text from Nick, confirming his arrival.

Nick: two minutes…

She took a deep breath and stepped out of her car, feeling a mixture of excitement and anxiety. The rain had stopped, leaving a crisp chill in the air.

As she entered the store, the scent of latex and plastic immediately crept up into her nose. Rows of costumes, masks, and accessories sat in front of her, ready to be explored. Eden wandered through the aisles, unsure of where to start. Her eyes scanned the racks of costumes, ranging from spooky to silly. She felt totally overwhelmed.

It had been a while since she last dressed up for Halloween. To be exact, it had been about ten years. She also didn’t quite remember what happened on said Halloween, since she had been more than drunk. The only thing she vividly remembered was how she puked her brains out that night.

Before she could think about it any longer, she heard someone enter the store and was soon met with Nick’s broad smile that was almost contagious to her.

"Eden! Happy Birthday!" he exclaimed and hugged the girl for short second while she started to blush like crazy, his enthusiasm echoing through the store. “Ready to find the perfect costume?”

She nodded, trying to match his energy. "Not really, but let’s do it anyways."

For the next hour, they searched through various options. Eden couldn't decide whether to go for classic monsters or popular characters from movies and TV shows. Nick showed Eden some funny and silly options, making her laugh at his playful behavior.

"How about a giant banana?" Nick suggested, holding up a bright yellow costume.

Eden shook her head, grinning. "I don't think so. I prefer my fruits less... inflatable."

Nick laughed with his full heart, before going on with his search.

Right as Eden set her eyes on a black lacy corset dress, she felt Nick’s presence close to her and jumped when she saw him with a ghost face mask on his face.

“What’s your favorite horror movie, Eden?” Nick asked with a deep tone in his voice, while Eden held her chest. Her heart was beating fast.

“Don’t scare me, Nick!” She shouted and shoved him away from her with a small smile on her face. Nick pulled the mask off while still giggling his ass off.

"How about Ghostface from Scream?" Nick suggested, holding up the iconic white ghostly mask.

Eden's eyes lit up with intrigue. "Actually, that's a great idea, Nick. It's simple, yet mysterious. Let's go for it."

“As mysterious as you.” Nick answered while handing the mask to her. Eden smiled a little to herself, not knowing how to answer him, so she just decided to ignore it.

Eden’s eyes traveled back to the black lacy corset dress in front of her and she decided to spice her costume up a bit. If she was going to have fun for once, she was going to do it right.

“Will you try it on?” Nick asked with a spark of curiosity in his eyes. Eden felt how her cheeks heated up at his expression.

“What if I wanted to surprise you?” She answered him boldly and her mind instantly started to race at her sudden change in demeanor. She didn’t even know why she acted that way.

Nick smiled at her cheekily, before they started to add the last touches to her costume. A pair of fishnet tights, some black gloves and a fake knife. Eden decided she was going to wear her old thigh high boots with it.

As they approached the checkout counter, Eden felt a mix of excitement and amusement. She surprisingly was pretty happy about her choice, and even more, she enjoyed the process with Nick.

Exiting the store, they headed back to their cars with bags in hand. Eden couldn't help but smile at Nick's infectious energy.

"Thanks for helping me pick something out," she said shyly but genuinely grateful.

Nick grinned. "Anytime, Eden. Now, let's make sure you turn heads and give everyone a good scare tonight!"

As they parted ways with a hug to get ready for the evening, Eden felt somewhat excited for the upcoming party, grateful for Nick's help in what she thought would be a complete disaster.

she's a deeply closeted lesbian, absolutely terrified to come out, drowning in internalized homophobia. she's had a crush on janis since they were in middle school, and bullied and outed her because she was insecure and scared of herself. she dates boys to keep up appearances, and forces herself to enjoy it. if you bring it up, she'll shoot it down. she gets very worked up about it, drilling herself into a spiral so much she'll have a panic attack, but never in public, always in the privacy of her own bedroom.

she lives with her mom and eleven-year-old sister kylie. her mom and dad got a divorce when she was 12, and she doesn't see him anymore, she's practically forbidden to talk about him. she's got a pretty rocky relationship with her mother, but a really strong bond with her sister.

she suffers from chronic pain after the bus incident. most days she's fine but some days she physically cannot get out of bed. she refuses to take her medication because it makes her go “crazy” and she doesn't like to feel out of control.

adding onto the last point, crossing roads and driving etc. are really difficult things for her, and she usually needs someone to be there with her, but she'll never ask for it. she sometimes has panic attacks if she's in a car for an extended period of time, so she needs to travel with someone she knows.

since the accident, she also has frequent nightmares. they aren't as common as they used to be, after she got out of the hospital she would wake up screaming, but that rarely happens nowadays. they tend to happen when she's not in her own bed, so if she's on holiday or sleeping over at someone's house. she feels so embarrassed whenever it happens, because she physically cannot stop herself from crying.

she really struggles to regulate her emotions, and her mood swings are intense and frequent. she hates this, again because it makes her feel like she isn't in control of her own body, which has led her to do some things she regrets.

she puts up a front for others because she likes feeling cared about. she thinks that if people see the real her, they won't care. she's built herself up so high that she thinks if anyone sees her even slightly out of line, they'll turn on her. even after half the school saw her get hit by a bus, and her reputation was at an all-time low, she still felt as if she had to be tough to be cared about, which brings me to my next point.......

she's desperately trying to climb her school's social ladder again, and will literally do anything to get to the top, even if it means pushing herself to extremes. yeah she's. she's not a happy girl. ahahaha.

she'll get very jealous over the smallest things.

neurodivergent in some way, but she refuses to even acknowledge it. likely some kind of personality disorder.

she really struggles with body image and eating, more so than ever after the kälteen bar incident, and will avoid as much conversation about her body and food as possible. the pressure to be perfect has been placed on her from a young age, and that definitely plays a part in this. as usual, she will lie if you ask her if she's eaten or something along those lines.

she calls her mom ‘mommy’. she doesn't mean to but sometimes it just slips out.

she's secretly a theater kid. she used to be in shows when she was younger, but stopped because whoever heard of a popular girl doing theater? she used to want to be on broadway, but her dad told her to shut up, and that it was a dumb dream, so she dropped the idea pretty quick.

massive ariana grande fan. yes she has seen the wicked movie. yes she liked it. no she will not admit that.

she has interests believe it or not, she just hides them away because she doesn't want to seem “nerdy”. she's got a bunch of stuff in her closet to do with her interests and that's why she doesn't like people going in there.

how do you choose what art you reblog and like? I want to tag my art more effectively so it gets seen but no matter what I do it doesn't really work

do you like scroll through the tags or only look at what your mutuals reblog

hmm...ill try to give an answer on how i use tumblr but really every person is different!

for tags, make sure youre looking at the popular tags/system of the fandom/space you're in. for example, i tag things mostly as "hws [character]" because people dont really use "aph" anymore--but if i want my work to be seen more, ill tag it as both, because there still are people who use and view the "aph [character]" tag and then ill reach all audiences.

while tagging systems are important, i think the biggest thing is viewing tumblr not as a content-consumer website, but as a place to make friends and share work. SO, my biggest reccommendation is just to reach out to people! it can be scary, but find ppl who have similar likes/ideas/interests as you and make a connection! not in a "i like your stuff so now please share my art too" way, but being genuine friends with people and wanting to engage in the fan space!

if you're not looking for that kind of answer, ill answer your question more directly; I personally reblog and like things from the people i follow and are mutuals with that are on my dash (which is how i think most people use the site instead of tag searching.) but ill be honest, im rarely scrolling the tumblr dashboard (i do my doomscrolling on tiktok instead lmao). most of the things i interact with are things that my friends here create or share with me (hence making friends who have your same interests!) i do look at tags occasionally, but only when I'm looking for something specific or i'm really in the mood to see a certain character/type of art and want to filter the dash.

lastly, and please forgive me if this sounds preachy i really dont mean it that way, you seem like a young/beginner artist (not a bad thing! im proud of you for posting and wanting to be seen!) or maybe your interests aren't common/are rare. the hard truth is not everyone is going to connect with your art, and thats okay! genuinely i promise that the numbers dont matter, just seek out genuine connections and HAVE FUN and you'll be just fine!
