The whole world reflected off your eyes, purely crystalline just as his own darkness secreted from the joints of his own limbs. He feels deaf, he feels blind—he feels absolute nothingness other than the wild thrashing of his own heart. His heart—it beat painfully so like no other instance before. And it was a foreign feeling, carnally addicting in a way he can almost imagine himself baring his fingertips, the wood of puppet limbs scratching and tearing you apart for him to feast, to satisfy this abhorrent thumping.

“I have something,” he mutters out through gritted teeth, each breath as painful as the last. “Something you created from me.” He watches as you turn, innocently so, curiosity in your eyes. And maybe he, too, was innocent here; not understanding the works or traditions of the human body. So in this single moment, when he watches as your expression shatters and your eyes fill with fear, he supposed maybe he’s not fit to be so human after all.

But his heart—it laid there. Right in his hand, outstretched to you, still beating blood as it trickled down the gaps between his fingers. He carved it out just for you, cutting open the wood of his artificial chest just to take it, and it give it to you—give all of himself to your open world. “Please take it,” he begs. “Please take the heart I want you to own.”
