Octavia is Madi’s hero, a little bit. The girl under the floor naturally appeals to Madi, who hid from Fleimkepas all her young life. They’re tough stories, with Clarke trying to filter out Octavia’s darkness but keep her strength.
How to constantly tell Madi stories of her heroes, without including the danger and the terror, the way they were blindly moving forward with the weapons they could fashion and their hearts in their throats–

Top 10 Ships Involving POC in 10 Different Fandoms (Round 4)
Thanks to the wonderful @welldressedllama for the tag! 🥰 Just for funsies, this time I’m doing enemies-to-lovers/rivals-to-lovers/maybe-not-traditional-enemies-but-way-too-antagonistic-to-not-fit-the-bill-to-lovers edition. In no particular order:
1) Macy Vaughn x Abigael Jameson-Caine (Macigael) - Charmed CW
I ultimately respect the AbiMel plot, but these two were literally Right There. Excellent chemistry from moment one and they perfectly mirrored each other with Macy as a witch with demon blood (struggling with darkness) and Abigael as a demon with witch blood (struggling to accept lightness). To think of what could have been with the two of them and the acceptance of good and bad and the whole complex mess of the self makes me insaneeee
Tumblr media
2) Nicky Shen x Zhilan Zhang (Zhicky) - Kung Fu CW
Idek what to say their dynamic was just so fun and watching them begrudgingly grow close was chef's kiss.
Tumblr media
3) Eve Polastri x Villanelle (Villaneve) - Killing Eve
Literally THE enemies to lovers imho. What more do I need to say? Eve said seduction into my darkness? Yes please. Villanelle said feel emotions for one (1) woman and obsess over her? Okay. They're enemies AND lovers. They've both tried to kill each other. So? They get each other like no one else. No one's doing it like them
Tumblr media
4) Scott McCall x Theo Raeken (Sceo) - Teen Wolf
Sorry but I'm clawing at the walls, gnawing on my hands, howling at the moon over them. Exploring all the tension and the guilt and the fear and the longing is delicious. And the layer of long-lost friends? The subtle seduction into trust and the mutual destruction on Theo's part? Sorry I'm crazy about it sorry.
Tumblr media
5) Mona Vanderwaal x Spencer Hastings (Vanderstings/Spemona?) - Pretty Little Liars
Somebody in this fandom needs to tell me right meow why they're not a bigger thing??? Quintessential 'they hate each other's guts but no one matches their freak better'. Throw Hanna in the mix and that's the perfect formulation, but they hold their own on enemies-to-lovers grounds sooooooo well.
Tumblr media
6) Raven Reyes x John Murphy (Murven) - The 100
Truth be told they're not my top ship for each other BUT they are the epitome of enemies to friends (to lovers). Some of the best relationship development I can think of.
Tumblr media
7) Bonnie Bennett x Nora Hildegard (Bonnora) - The Vampire Diaries
Literally why were they not a thing? Bonenzo ily but look at them! They had such a fun little antagonistic flirty thing and Nora was canonically crushing on Bonnie. All I want is queer Bonnie and I was so close to having it
Tumblr media
8) Kitty Covey x Yuri Han (Kitturi) - XO Kitty
Kitty literally took one look at rival Yuri making music and crossed that thin line from hate to love. Girl was like "I will take this Angry tension and transform it into Sexual tension" and I respect that
Tumblr media
9) Kathani "Kate" Sharma x Anthony Bridgerton (Kanthony) - Bridgerton
I've only watched one full episode and seen random bits here and there but I'm obsessed with her and I'm obsessed with them. Literally scene one I was all in. They are the bane of my existence and the object of all my desires
Tumblr media
10) Luke Alvez x Penelope Garcia (Garvez) - Criminal Minds
I missed Morgan as much as the next guy, but Penelope and Luke's banter and chemistry is unmatched. Shame on the new seasons for lying to me and saying they went on a date but didn't have the same chemistry, that is such Bull
Tumblr media
Honorable mention: Zafira x Nasir (Nasira? Nafira?) from the Sands of Arawiya duology, who I feel I cannot officially include because I have only read a small excerpt so far, but I expect to like very much
Round 1 | Round 2 | Round 3
As always, no pressure whatsoever, but I’ll tag @freddieslater @aconfusedidentity @userlaylivia @scribeoffate @sees-writes @rhyslahey and anyone else who wants to play! :)

just got back from seeing gotg vol3 and i can genuinely say this is a top 5 mcu movie for me, and EASILY the best thing since endgame and infinity war. just absolutely perfect from start to finish and a very heartbreaking but also touching way to finish off their story. i want to share some thoughts but don’t worry i’ve kept it spoiler free :)
every character has their time to shine, but rocket and mantis really stole the show for me! this movie is 100% a guardians movie, of course, but this is more specifically a rocket movie. his story takes center stage and we really get to see how he is the glue that holds this found family together, at their best and their worst. mantis also gets to do more then she has ever done and she really shines as an important aspect of the team and story. the dynamics with every character are so much fun to watch and there’s never a dull moment between any of them.
as usual with these films the comedy is golden and the soundtrack is absolutely killer! the use of music and score is always great but this one hit me especially hard. john murphy knows how to pull at every one of your heart strings with his score and the soundtrack sets every scene perfectly.
the action and fight sequences are also so awesome to watch! they keep you on your toes, on the edge of your seat, wanting to know what’s going to happen next. there’s one sequence with the whole team (again, no spoilers) that is quite possibly one of the mcu’s best long form fight scenes ever. i want to relive it over and over again it was a great time.
i feel like marvel has been hit or miss these past few releases but i think this one will go down as one of their best. it’s one of the mcu’s most brutal and dark films, putting the characters and audience through every emotion you can imagine. but it also has so much heart that you can’t help but smile through your tears. i applaud james gunn, the entire cast, crew, and anyone who worked on this movie. phenomenal jobs all around and thank you for bringing us the perfect ending to the mcu’s best trilogy!!
i will miss this group of misfit characters, this family, very much. it’s been so fun <3

"Welcome to the Theatre": Diary of a Broadway Baby
Follies in Concert
June 20, 2024 | Transport Group Theatre | Carnegie Hall | Evening | Concert | Series | 2H 20M
Tumblr media
FOLLIES FOLLIES FOLLIES. THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY YEAR. THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY LIFE(?)
Last night, Carnegie Hall was New York's hottest gay club as every one of us turned up to weep over Sondheim's breathtaking score, played by a divine 30-piece orchestra. Fifty Broadway actors shared the roles and songs of this wonderful show, culminating in a lineup straight out of our wildest dreams.
Though we were robbed of a Donna Murphy triumph with "Could I Leave You?" due to filming schedule changes, we received the impromptu comedy show of the year as Beth Leavel grappled with a broken mic stand and brought the house down anyway.
Kate Baldwin as another eleventh-hour addition proved to be the best moment of the night. Her "Losing My Mind" will go down in history as one of the most divine we will ever hear. Not since Marin Mazzie has a theatre been so rapt, so silent, so in awe. She's always struck me as a Phyllis, but now proves she has the range.
Jennifer Holliday does what she wants, and what she wants was a smooth and seductive "I'm Still Here" full of gravitas even as she meandered far from the written notes and rhythms. She turned a five-minute showstopper into a nine-minute showstopper complete with a standing ovation to open up act two.
Karen Ziemba led six of our finest dancing Broads over sixty (or even seventy)(Mamie Duncan-Gibbs, Ruth Gottschall, JoaAnn M. Hunter, Dana Moore, Michele Pawk, and Margo Sappington) in a "Who's That Woman" original choreography to a standing ovation.
So many thrilling performances, one after the other. I am deeply in love with Barbara Walsh now, and it's honestly a crime she and Carolee Carmello were so underutilized by only having "Waiting for the Girls Upstairs" (Phyllis and Sally don't get much singing in that number, and it's a tragedy). I need to seriously contemplate the Barbara-Phyllis/Carolee-Sally dynamic immediately.
I am now dead. I have ascended. I will never come back to earth again. But the final tributes broke me. The reveal that Sondheim said in a private zoom reunion that Follies was his very favorite original score. The late Harvey Evans' epitaph. Original cast member Kurt Peterson ending the concert with "hey up there, way up there, what'd'ya say up there..." All of it underscored by Sondheim's brilliant work. I am in tears all over again.
Verdict: My Soul Transcended Space and Time

TV Show - HALO
Since Voyager continues without me for now, and I don't feel like watching movies too much, I looked for some new material. Yesterday, I stumbled upon HALO!
Tumblr media
I had started watching the first season some time ago since the second season was on its way. Now it's here and streaming on Paramount+ in Germany.
I've never played a HALO videogame, even though I find the world-building and lore incredibly interesting. Maybe it's because of this that I was so impressed with the first season, even though there were a few points I didn't like so much. But I really enjoyed the lore and world-building, although I have to admit that during the rewatch, I understood a lot more than during the first watch.
So, I was ready for the second season, started it, and was initially very annoyed. A desk jockey leading the Spartans was such a typical "That's lazy writing!" (Deadpool 2) move that really irritated me. Why can't Hollywood come up with something new? Unfortunately, that feeling only slowly faded away, and the weird dude, whose name I've already forgotten, got less and less screen time and even ended up fleeing, coward!
I think the new dynamic between the Spartans is great; they've stepped it up a notch. And in the last episode from this week, I believe, I particularly liked the admiral's speech. It showed me that they're on the right track, and right after that, there was plenty of action plus a surprise, which I don't want to spoil here. I really enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to the next episode!
I think it's good that I don't know much about HALO because then I have more freedom to enjoy what's being shown, I don't set the bar too high, and I don't have too big expectations! And luckily, the second season isn't released all at once but only one episode per week. I liked that with Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, too, and it makes me feel a little nostalgic because there's something to look forward to, just like in the old days. The glorious time before streaming services, that was nice!
I particularly like, regarding both seasons, Pablo Schreiber (The dude really stepped up physically in the second season, it's quite intense!), Kate Kennedy, and Charlie Murphy. Although Kate Kennedy would be a perfect fit for Samus Aran, somehow I feel like I'm hitting a brick wall. But I don't really care; right now, with what's shown in the second season, I'm even more convinced. A big point, aside from the desk jockey, in season two that I don't like, is Cortana's design. Yes, she still has a relatively small role in the second season so far, but I really liked her design in the first season, and I also miss the dialogues with John, which were sometimes very humorous!
Since I like to fill the time between episodes, I've chosen another series that has been available on Prime for a few weeks now. But more on that in another post!

On this episode of Digging For Gold On Tubi
“Come back to me.”
I’ve talked about this movie maybe a thousand times but it really just sits in my heart unequivocally.
The way it dives in to the relationships and dynamics of old and new. It’s easy to hold onto the past, growing is what’s hard. I get pulled right into the relationship between Vera and Caitlin and their friendship which is nothing short of tragic. This movie explores the disasters that human desire can leave behind and the consequences of falling ill to it. Would you give up everything for something that was?
The acting is superb. You know I love Cillian Murphy not just because he’s so beautiful but also because his acting is dynamic and he breaks my heart in this one (I will love Captain William Killick forever). But also Keira Knightly is one of my favorites as well and Pride and Prejudice 2005 is one of the bests pieces of cinema out there. Sienna Miller and Matthew Rhys are absolutely stellar as well. Shout out to John Maybury for exquisite directing.

I can rant about this movie for hours so if anyone ever watched/watches it please let me know if you wanna chat 🫶🏽

Ok I saw this floating around and NEEDED to ask you.
Fic Authors Self Rec!
When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written. Toot your horn! Tell us what YOU like about them, then pass this on to at least five other writers. (no pressure.) 😊
omg you sent me this and i was like "I'm gonna answer that asap!" and then i didn't 😂
but, whenever i do these i try my best to pick fics from across different fandoms. so here we go, in no specific order!
- Small Price to Pay (Takeshi Kovacs x F!Reader)- I've really enjoyed everything that I've written for Altered Carbon, I just love the characters and the world. But this fic in particular I really liked getting into the descriptions of what Reader was feeling and going through, how it all manifested in their relationship with Tak. They're both such a mess and I love them
- Pretty Boy (Juice Oritz x OC Dakota Lowman)- You know meeeee i love any excuse to write Juice and i love all my OCs like they're my children and best friends. But this one really has a special place in my heart since it was the debut for these two. Plus i just really love the vibe of their dynamic in this, and the fact that we get to see Di in this too.
- Last Resort (John Wick x GN!Reader)- This was my first John Wick fic and it was so much fun to write!! Idk I just loved the testy dynamic between the two of them. I loved the begrudging respect between them and the history that's there that neither of them really take the time to get into much at all. I love how he knows that they'll have his back even if they don't make it easy on him. It also taught me how much fun it is to write fics that take place in their whole world.
- No Good Time For This (Sydney Adamu x Richie Jerimovich)- You already knooooow that SydRichie was gonna make it on here!! I just love them. I love their potential and the back and forth between them. I love that their similarities just as much as their differences are what make things so chaotic between them sometimes. And while I usually love some good antagonism between them, I did really enjoy the two of them being able to lean on each other in this fic. I like that it was the two of them vs. Carmy rather than them versing each other. Thinking about them always, as you know 😂
- Round-Trip Ticket (Steve Murphy x OC Cassandra Oliviera)- I still remember when I sat down to write this fic. I remember how easily I got swept up in everything about these two. I wrote this fic for a smut challenge but it ended up being almost 8k of story that yeah, had some smut in it, but really everything about their dynamic and journey together was what really had me going hard in the docs. Their story spans over such a long stint of time and they both go through so much, together and apart, and I just absolutely love them. I still be thinking about them sometimes 🥰
thank you for this!!!! i always love going back and perusing through all of my fics 💖

Gabrielle Anwar and Billy Wirth in Body Snatchers (Abel Ferrara, 1993)
Cast: Gabrielle Anwar, Terry Kinney, Meg Tilly, Billy Wirth, Reilly Murphy, Christine Elise, R. Lee Irmey, Kathleen Doyle, Forest Whitaker, G. Elvis Phillips. Screenplay: Raymond Cistheri, Larry Cohen, Stuart Gordon, Dennis Paoli, Nicholas St. John, based on a novel by Jack Finney. Cinematography: Bojan Bazelli. Production design: Peter Jamison. Film editing: Anthony Redman. Music: Joe Delia.
Abel Ferrara's version of Jack Finney's novel The Body Snatchers is nothing if not economical. The economy extends to the title: Don Siegel's 1956 version and Philip Kaufman's 1978 one were called Invasion of the Body Snatchers; Ferrara even drops the definite article. The story, too, has been pared down. Ferrara's version sets the story on a military base in Alabama instead of the urban California of the previous films. It also shifts the focus to a teenage girl, Marti Malone (Gabrielle Anwar), who comes with her family to the base when her father (Terry Kinney) is sent there by the EPA to investigate chemical pollution. The dynamic of a rebellious adolescent in a military culture is perfect for the conflict between individualism and conformity, the theme that unites all of the versions of Finney's story. In addition to her father, Marti's dysfunctional family consists of her stepmother, Carol (Meg Tilly), whom she dislikes, and her young half-brother, Andy (Reilly Muphy), who annoys her. Andy is the first to sense that something is seriously wrong in their new home when, during an art class at day care, all the other kids produce identical finger paintings. As they hold up their paintings, the teacher murmurs approvingly at each one until she comes to a halt at Andy's, which is unique. She clearly disapproves. One by one, the fact that people are being somehow replaced by identical but emotionless beings becomes clear. Ferrara is not particularly interested in the mechanics of invasion and transformation that took up more narrative space in the previous films. We get some nicely disgusting body horror scenes, but the response of Marti to the alien takeover is what drives the plot as she teams up with a handsome young helicopter pilot named Tim (Billy Wirth) to fight off the invaders. Tim's stoic military manner keeps us unsure whether he's not already one of the pod people, an ambiguity that persists until the end of the movie. Body Snatchers is a good rethinking of material whose previous versions are now considered classics. The source material was mined again for a fourth version, The invasion (Oliver Hirschbiegel, 2007), which starred Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig but bombed with the critics.
