STORY SUMMARY: Trust is a delicate flower that needs to get nurtured and time to grow. Even more so love. A tale of two disparate Wardens forced together, of finding a way to overcome the distrust, and their own painful past in the time of the Blight.

Lenya breathed in and out too frantically, still a fish stranded on land but now the pain of her injuries the reason. Whatever, she made it out alive, but the same, the same possibly couldn’t be said of –

Squeezing her eyes to rid herself of the thought and to clear her sight alike, she found it circling in her head. Like the cycle that kept repeating whenever she let someone close, she was bound to lose them. Again, and again and again . It started with her parents right after her birth and hadn’t stopped since. Her destiny as First upended through inadequacy, this lack of magic, replaced by someone adequate like a thing . Clawing her way to find her place in her clan afterwards, trial and error, trial and error, learning and rebelling alike. Hunter that was what she became, first bare-faced and stumbling, then thriving and belonging, proudly bearing her vallaslin and her bow and blades. Only to lose all of it just two summers later, her clan and Tamlen both in one fell swoop. All because she did not listen then, nor did now. And both times others paid the price for it, her friend, then and now, both very different people but the same cycle repeating, started by her. Her fault for not listening, her fault for not being faster, smarter, her fault for letting someone close again and dooming him this way.

If Wynne would not be able to save him, if he became another Tamlen, another Nithius, then… then – A searing pain of another kind tore at her insides, twisted them until Lenya was robbed of all air, and she froze. Then it all released at once, breath and outcry both, but the pain stayed, not longer limited to her injuries. Wrecked by its force, she cried, each sob a ripple of misery, ever-flowing, each closer to drowning. [...]

actually obsessed with the fact that they combined the storylines into one scene to give us a little update on eddie & chris and on buck & tommy at the same time. like obviously it's mainly to show us that chris and eddie's relationship is still strained but that eddie's really trying and that buck and tommy are "going strong" and there supporting eddie, but it's also showing us how tommy is integrated into buck's life and that means being good friends with eddie/caring about chris, and also showing how buck/tommy are still never getting out from under the eddie of it all allegations lmao
