Crying tears of happiness while my hands shake so badly I can’t even wipe the tears

November 11th. Officially.

After 256 days of russian occupation, the city of Kherson was liberated by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 🇺🇦

Real quick explanation to my followers who have no idea what the frickity fuck is going on in Ukraine right now:

Kherson (Херсон) was recently retaken by Ukrainian armed forces. It’s an important territory for Russia because it’s a direct link to Crimea. This is a huge loss for Russia! One of the biggest geopolitical losses for Russia since the fall of the Soviet Union.

This is lowkey kind of insane, Russia has really bungled this war. As expected. Ukraine, my darling, keep being strong. You will prevail 🇺🇦

Guess it's time for fingers crossed, hoping for the best. 😁🤞

Ukraine started the counter-offensive in the Kherson region and is so far successful. The Russians have losses, they destroyed large parts of the Dnjepr Bridge (making it hard for Russians to retreat and keeping up their supply lines) and Ukraine has broken through the frontline in several places (liberating several villages).

Well, maybe Russia feels like it's time for another "goodwill gesture". 😉

End of February - beginning of March 2020. I came for a few days to the city of Kherson (southern Ukraine), which russian troops will occupy in 2022.

Now with tears in my eyes I am looking at photos and videos where people stand on the streets of the city with Ukrainian flags. They went out to meet the Ukrainian military. It's so touching 😭💙💛

I am sorry to post this on Tumblr. I usually use this app to share my personal content and the content that I find in forgotten sources, coming from my love to visual kei and the East Asian entertainment industry.

This is why this post will be completely out of place, but I hope for your understanding.

I'm gonna use my small, yet precious platform to talk about the Russian Aggression. First and foremost - I'm not Ukrainian and I'm not Russian, but I've never been in so much distress, and it's only been two days. In no way do I support this chaos, it's terrible, it's dreadful, it's tragic, it breaks my heart. And it's alarming to see how so many people around the world consider this to be a purely Russia/Ukraine conflict, and avoid giving direct help, without knowing or realizing that this situation is extremely likely to escalate. Russia has had beef with the entirety of Eastern Europe, and there's an extremely high chance that Ukraine is not the only target. Countries like Moldova, Latvia, Georgia etc are all already guessing which one of them is next.

Let me describe it to you: while Ukrainians cross the borders TO these countries for safety, the native citizens of these countries are crossing the borders OUT of there, to the west and south.

There is no end to Pu*in's ambitions, let's be real. Eastern Europe is in danger as a whole.

This is why I think it's EXTREMELY important to help Ukraine RESIST as long as possible, until the sanctions against Russia will finally start significantly affecting it's resources and finances.

My friends from Ukraine, from around region of Kherson - keep in touch with me, and have told me that the financial and technical support from other countries has helped to slow down the Russian troops FOR NOW. We never know what comes tomorrow, this is why I'm going to pin a thread of links to OFFICIAL ukrainian organizations of all sorts (military and humanitarian), that accept donations. I have personally chosen two and donated the amount of money that I could afford.

Sometimes I really feel like I’m the only one watching the war in Ukraine. Like I really truly feel like mainstream media saw Ukrainians maintain a hold on Kyiv and called the war won. It isn’t over, it isn’t over, it isn’t over. My host brother is still missing, I fear that he’s been forced to fight for Russia. My friends are still fighting on the front lines to protect their homes and their families.

This war isn’t over, it won’t be over until Donbas and Crimea and Mariupol and Kherson and Kharkiv are liberated and rebuilt. This war isn’t over until all the people being shipped off to Russia to be brainwashed into denying their Ukrainian heritage are returned home. This war will not be over until teachers are free to resume teaching in their native tongue. This war isn’t over until Russian leaders are held accountable for their baseless horrific war. This war is not over and I need to scream about it.
