Did anyone else catch this in Hannibal (2001)?

Raw ambergris base, Tennessee lavender, and fleece were the top notes in the fragrance Lecter had specifically crafted for Clarice and scented his letter with.

Raw ambergris base - very expensive product banned in most countries save a few in Europe; ends up being a clue 💛

Tennessee lavender - Like Memphis, TN? As in, the last place they saw each other and where they first touched?! 🪻

Fleece - need I even explain? Lambs. 🐑

The significance of each scent, including the clue he placed, makes the fragrance a love letter in and of itself.

The scents could represent an idea or a nuance between the two. For example, the raw ambergris (rare and hard to find, expensive, a clue to Lecter's geographical whereabouts) = Lecter himself, the lavender = Memphis, their last meeting, the touch, and the fleece = Starling's lambs, the screaming, possibly asking if she still hears them, the fact that he knows about them.

Going off of symbolism alone, one could argue the wording of said letter through its symbolism reads:

I remember that night in Memphis when you told me about the lambs.

Or...

I fondly recall our last meeting.

Or he is simply asking...

Are the lambs still screaming?

And that just makes the scene where he answers the phone before killing Pazzi and Starling speaks just *sting*. He asks her, "Did you like the skin cream, I had it made especially for you?". He could be asking, "Did you get my love letter, Clarice?" And she just ignores it like he's just being an ass. Ugh 😩❤️ And technically he was by bringing it up then so it's not as if she completely lost it's meaning but still.

It's great because he does reference the lambs in the books (obviously there is SO much missing from the movie that's in the books).

But just like how we have the Burning Heart line and Hopkins hinting at the romance, we have this too. This beautifully snuck in little bit for the SOTL fans.

Even if we can't go as far to say it was a message, the fact that he used those items to make a "Clarice Starling" fragrance is still beautiful and their parallels to the first film are still there.

A lot is up for interpretation and that is another thing I just LOVE about the 2nd film.

pretty sure we’ve talked about this already actually… but i think kenjaku is pretty good at dealing with you when you’re sick . just very calm abt it all …… even if your fever was suuuuuper high they wouldn’t freak out, only tend to you with practiced ease . i don’t see kenny as a caretaker type much at all but i do think they can slip into that role pretty easily when they need to — and when you’re all sick and weak in bed it’s a little hard for them not to be at least a little doting. brews you strong teas, gets you meds, reminds you to take them. lets you sleep in their lap if that’s easier for you. they’re not worried + at your beck and call the way suguru would be, but they’re basically always sitting by your bedside . unless they’re heading to the pharmacy for more meds…..

basically <3 kenny takes care of you !!!! at the end of the day you’re their partner, and they care about you… it’s too quiet when all you can do is sniffle in bed, when your throat is too hoarse to speak. so it’s a relief for them when you’re finally all better <333 they don’t mind being your personal nurse for a few days, if it means they’ll get to hear your voice again

The last three digits would have reminded me of Bruno's birthday and Romans 8:26. Meanwhile, the numbers on the totals of the time reminded me of a post I shared to my Instagram Story and saved in my "1️⃣🚨 APRIL 7" highlight. Speaking of which, I'm always reminded of what happened on April 7, 2023 which was the day when I spontaneously decided to finish watching Alex Proya's Knowing (2009) after stalling and rewinding the movie countless of times already. Yipeee! the wizarding university au now has a name! You may now call it Me and My Strange Familiar.

To celebrate, here are some extra lore about it:

Lamb is a super senior (27 yrs. old and counting! 😭) and has been held back a year or two due to being naturally weak at magic. They currently work part-time as a teacher's assistant. The only reason why they're still here is because they're the adopted child of Ratau, the retired principal of the Institute of the Old Faith (I.O.F).

That, and they're academically gifted than most students alongside being great at management, hence being asked to help professors frequently. The school has kept asking Lamb to just be part of the staff and give up studying, but they seem very motivated to continue their term until they are legible for graduating.

The I.O.F's school board consist of the most powerful wizards who have graduated from the university. So far, the most recent chairman who have been welcomed has been Heket over 200+ years ago. Each board member has their own wands that act like their crowns from the original game, providing them a longer lifespan and even greater power.

During Shamura's travels around the kingdom, they came across Leshy (20 yrs. old) who had no family to speak of. Noticing his untapped potential, they along with Heket and Kallamar, had since adopted him and have enrolled him into the I.O.F in hopes of ascending him to the currently vacant seat on the board.

Leshy really likes bullying Lamb for their lack of magic, and they're kind of a doormat about it. Thankfully, Lamb's roommate, Casca (Yellow Cat, 22), sticks up for them and gets into a lot of bantering with him as a result.

Narinder is... uh. Narinder is a piece of work alright. At least for the first half of the AU, he has to pretend to be a normal magical cat to Lamb, and a non-speaking one to Casca and the others. Comedy ensues. If he's going to be humiliated by doing cat stuff, might as well fulfill the asshole qualities of one.

Al I know is this baby boy is special. I just had a vision of the Prophet Samuel who Hannah had given to God as a babe… her only son, the son some said she would never have. I would read those chapters in the Bible for clarity including the books of Samuel.

I remember God had said to us wayyyy back that some of your children would be even more successful than you are today and that’s a blessing. Which good parent wouldn’t want their child to be better off than they were?

The Masked Singer: S8 E10 (Semifinals)

Three Masks remain. One will be eliminated tonight. Who will go home? And who will go to the Finals? Harp 🎶, the Lambs 🐑 🐑 🐑, or Snowstorm ❄️? As always, I post before I see any unmaskings, so don’t take these guesses as spoilers.

Harp 🎶: A trophy with a #1 on it. Very close to her mother. I’m still pretty sure this is Amber Riley, and the trophy clue confirms it for me. In addition to Glee, she also competed on and won Dancing with the Stars. And Harp’s voice sounds very much like Amber. I’m sticking with Amber Riley. The additional clue was a picture of Oprah, so she’s probably appeared on one of Oprah’s shows.

Snowstorm ❄️: A sign reading “live” and a cinema ticket. Apparently had dreams of being a singer, but her voice teacher turned her away. I still can’t tell if this is Nikki Glaser or Cecily Strong. Let’s see what the bonus clue is. It’s…a line of balloons reading “SQUIGGLY”. This is definitely a reference to Squiggly Monster, who was the late Bob Saget. So, perhaps Snowstorm either worked with him on Full House or roasted him at his Comedy Central Roast? Nikki Glaser didn’t do either, but the clues do keep pointing to her. But I’m also thinking Jodie Sweetin as well, and Bob Saget was close with a lot of his co-stars from Full House. And the house clue from last night could also be referring to Full House. (And yes, Jodie was at the Comedy Central Roast of Bob Saget, sitting in the audience, while John Stamos was the Roastmaster.) I’m going to throw a curveball and say that this is Jodie Sweetin.

Lambs 🐑 🐑 🐑: Hit it big as young ladies. A ticket reading “Platinum Class”. They took some time apart. One of the Lambs had a noticeably lower speaking voice. I’m pretty sure this is Wilson Phillips, and I think I know which Lamb is which, too. Chynna Phillips (who sang lead on the group’s biggest hits) is the Blue Lamb. I think Carnie Wilson (who is the one with a deep speaking voice) is the Pink Lamb, and her sister Wendy Wilson is the Purple Lamb. The bonus clue is…a cornucopia reading “REUNION”. Wilson Phillips has split and reunited three different times, and their current run as a group has lasted over a decade.

Puppy!reader 🐶

Lloyd: totally inspired by my petplay wip called puppy love - big bad Lloyd is very strict and disciplines his dumb little pup. He locks her in a cage if she's being mouthy and teaches her everything she knows bc she’s just an airhead. she's always on her best behaviour when his friends are over bc whenever she's a good pup, she gets some yummy 'treats' from her daddy's friends.

Jake: sweet nerdy bf jake would love a hyperactive puppy!reader who is always up for snuggles and treats, bothers him under his desk, begging and whining for attention. no cages here (for punishment anyway, he's too much of a soft daddy for that), but there is one that's more like a tent with fairylights that you hide in, it has all of your favourite blankets, stuffies, and some of Jake’s clothes. And lovesick jake would drop all of his work and games for a cuddle session with his favourite girl that seems to always lead to special playtime.

Cub!reader 🐻

Ari: obviously Ari needs a little cub 🫶 she’s sleepy, loves snacking and being cozy (lots of cuddles by the fireplace) and is practically his personal chef !! he eats a lot and somehow she always knows what he’s craving before he does. he tries all her new recipes and will even help sometimes if he isn’t working. for their first date, me think they made homemade pizza 😌 and to be a little cheesy, they were in the shape of hearts ❤️

Kitten!reader 🐱

Steve: inspired by this drabble - Steve’s kitten is cute and quiet, and perfect for his quaint life. she takes naps in the sun while he works, will come to him whenever he calls and is just so so sensitive !! if he doesn’t say “I love you” before he leaves for work, she’ll cry all day. return of "the puffier it is, the better it tastes" is what he says about her clit, he'll play with her while she sits on his lap, or just flip up her dress whenever he's hungry. most times, he doesn't even let her finish, bc he loves when she cries and her kitty nub gets all swollen.

Ransom: sweater daddy loves his dumb kitten who doesn’t know any better 😪 she takes everything he says as truth and kisses the ground he walks on. he tugs on her tail, pulls her ears and spanks her whenever she's being bad. poor dummy doesn't even notice her daddy is putting her up for failure with his many convoluted rules, just bc he wants an excuse to punish her and her little kitty button.

Lamb!reader 🐑

Andy: I’m getting very much lonely daddy vibes from Andy but he’s also a very important public figure (a senator ??) and can’t let the world know he bought a hybrid bc it definitely doesn’t fit his charismatic and moral persona. His baby lamb is so quiet, doesn’t even speak to him for the first few weeks, more so just follows him around silently and lingers in the doorway. Until one day, he gets home hours late bc of a flight delay. it’s storming bad and when he walks in she’s crying by the front door and tackles him the moment she sees him bc the power went out, she’s cold and alone and finally realized how much andy really means to her 🥹🫶

Fox!reader 🦊

Curtis: now ofc this is set in some cold and snowy forest, Curtis returns home after a hunt to see his home broken into. And what do you know !! there’s a little thing napping in his bed, she’s got pointy orange ears and a fluffy fluffy tail. me thinks similar to my Hunter!Curtis x bunny!reader au but with a mischievous fox!reader instead. fox!reader always causes trouble and will escape the cabin no matter how much he barricades it bc “I’m strong! I survived this long without you” but Curtis obviously knows better 🙄 “ya little dumb fox. stay inside before the wolves get you”
