내가 80프로의 개미라니…

감정에 종종 치우치고, 그렇게 하루를 무기력한 감정과 아무런 짓도 안하며 흘러가는 시간을 바라만 보며 지나친다. 그러면서 내가 이렇게나 평범하고 무능력한가 의심하며 내 자신의 자존감 또 자존감 대로 떨어트리며 지낸다.

나는 생각을 하면서 지내는 걸까? 내 자신은 나를 의심하기 싫다. 나는 이미 다른사람들의 나를 상처주는 말들에 지쳤다. 나까지 나에게 상처주기는 싫다.

여기까지 올라오기는 얼마나 힘이 들었나?

내려가는건 한 순간이구나.

악의로 바득바득 올라가놓고, 늘 한 줌의 선의가 나를 저 바닥으로 떨어트린다.

상처. 내 마음은 현재 상처투성이라서 조금 쉬고싶다. 근데 기숙사에 가면 또 얼마나 감정노동을 할 지 상상도 되지 않는다.

마음이 찢어질듯 아프다. 너무나도 아프다, 늘 무시하고 지내왔는데, 이번에는 정말,너무나도 아프다. 청승맞게 안울거라고 다짐하고 다짐해도 결국에는 또 우는 내 자신이 참 한심하다.

마음이 아프다. 마음이 너무 아프다.

마음에서 피눈물 난다.

하루하루가 너무버겁다.

하지만 또한 다른사람에게 짐이 되기 싫다.

착하게 산 결과가 과연 이것인가?

아니면 너무 착해서 마음 고생을 한것인가.

얼마나 더 아파야 나는 강해질 수 있는 것인가?

과연 내가 지금 하고 있는것이 맞는 일인가?

마음이… 너무 아프다.. 그리고.. 너무나도… 지친다

사람이면 다 상처받는다.

글라가 그런말을 해서 너무 상처 받는다.

그런 맑은 눈을 해가지고 이런말을 해서 너무 상처받는다.

어제 일 이지만 아직도 그 생각을 하면 눈물이 앞을 가린다

왜 다들 나를 알지도 못하면서 그렇게 말하고 생각하는 걸까.

나는 마음을 어디에 기대야 하는 거지?

What was "The Mission" from Charles?

SPOILER ALERT

Just in case you don't remember what sort of mission Charles gave Daniel when they were talking in Ep 512:

This was the mission in Ep 177:

Basically Charles would reveal the secret of the Second Body since he considered that the current Daniel had somehow surpassed DG (of back then?). Daniel had also used the Body as it was designed (to fight, and fight A LOT).

How sad that back then I naïvely interpreted this as Charles' wish to elevate Daniel's hitherto unknown potentials when it was actually his egotistical method to trap the boy in intergenerational battles and crew wars. Almost like Charles wanted Daniel to become the pinnacle of the criminal underworld.

‘난 새치기하는 아줌마 아저씨 노인들이 너무 싫어. 젊은 친구들도 빨리 가고 싶은 건 매한가진데 말이야. 유독 나이 많은 사람들이 꼭 그래.’ 라고 엄마에게 철부지 같은 푸념을 했던 날이 있다. (사실 철부지라고 생각도 안한다. 정말 급한 사정 아니고서야 질서 의식 없이 무리하게 끼어드는 사람들이 나는 내가 더 늙어보기 전까진 일단 계속 싫을 예정이다.) 그런데 엄마는 ‘나이가 든 사람들은 너보다 체감하는 시간이 짧다고 느낄 거야. 괜히 시간이 빨리 가는 것 같고 그래. 그러니 너보다 시간이 없구나 생각하면서 한 번씩 참아줘.’ 라고 말했다. 아하. 엄마처럼 참고 넘기는 방법도 있구나. 라고 생각했다.

아빠와 가끔 밤 드라이브를 하던 때가 있었다. 아빠가 사는 곳은 10시 언저리만 되어도 길에 개미 한 마리 안 보이고 불 켜진 간판 하나 없는 재미없는 동네다. 아빠는 적어도 내가 아는 한도 내에선 고리타분하지만 그래도 지켜야 하는 모든 질서를 준수하는 어른이고, 나는 그에 반(反)하는 성질의 자식인 지라 늘 혼자 속을 끓인다. ‘아무도 없는 시골 동네에서 이렇게 거북이 같은 속도로 다 지키면서 가야 돼?’ 답답한 마음에 물으면 ‘제일 사랑하는 사람이 옆에 타고 있는데 안전하게 모셔야지’ 라고 아빠는 답한다. 나는 매번 똑같은 질문을 하고, 아빠도 매번 똑같은 답만을 내놓는다.

내가 가장 사랑했던 친구가 있었다. 나는 오늘의 날씨라거나 계절이 주는 풍경에 민감한 성격이라 그런 것들을 빤히 바라보는 일을 좋아한다. 그래서 늘 그 친구의 조수석에 앉아 강의 건너편, 아침 하늘, 해질 녘, 일렁이는 야경 같은 것들을 보며 지냈다. 하늘이 너무 예쁜 날이라거나, 때로는 아무 소리 없이 우리 사이에 공백만 흐르던 날. 그 친구는 늘 나를 하늘과 가장 가까운 갓길로 데려가며 ‘좋아하는 거 예쁜 거 많이 봐.’ 말하곤 했다. 참 무수했던 나날들 중 유난히 휘황찬란하던 달이 너무도 예뻤던 어느 날에 ‘저 달 너무 예쁘지?’ 물으며 고개를 그의 쪽으로 돌리니 그는 앞을 보고 있었다. 생각해보니 짧은 찰나를 제외하곤 그 친구는 오로지 앞만 볼 수 있었다는 걸 뒤늦게 알아차린 것이다. 여태껏 이 예쁜 풍경들을 나만 만끽하고 있었다는 미안함이 한순간에 몰려왔다. 나의 무지함이 그리도 슬플 수가 없었다. 빨리 면허를 따서 보답하겠다며 펑펑 울던 내게 ‘나는 너 태우고 운전하는 게 좋아’ 라고, 그 친구는 답했다.

무수한 관계의 소멸이 내게 남기는 기억 조각들은 참 소중하다. 내가 어떻게 살아온 사람인지 알게 한다. 나의 다음 챕터를 더 골똘히 생각하게 한다. 이 기억들도 우리의 관계처럼 언젠간 소멸되겠지만, 사라지지 않길 바랄만큼 따뜻한 조각들이다. 살다가 한 번씩 꺼내어볼 수 있게 내 안에서 제발 잊히지 않고 계속 남아있어주면 안 되겠냐고, 믿지도 않는 아무개 신들에 기도를 올리고 싶은 그런 기억 조각들.

덕분에 이제는 안다. 사랑은 감히 섣부를 수 없는 아주 귀하고 어려운 행동이란걸. 알면 알수록 더 어려워지고 자신 없는 마음이란걸. 적어도 사랑을 하는 시간 동안 만큼은 무한정일 것만 같은, 결국 유한한 희생과 응원을 의식 없이 자연스럽게 나눌 수 ��어야 사랑이라는걸. 내가 그런 사랑을 나누고 받으며 이만큼 컸구나. 스스로에게 확신도 사랑도 주지 못하는 이 추운 계절에 따뜻한 자들이 남겨준 기억 조각들로 또 한번 답과 위안을 받는다.
