November 14th, 2024: Congratulations are in order for Kyoto's newest geiko! Mameaya (まめ彩) of Ninben (亻) in Gion Kobu is celebrating her erikae! She was the most senior maiko in her district and the last active maiko at Ninben (for now). She suits the geiko look so well and her height can finally be appreciated in a geiko's attire! Her outfit features cypress fans, flower carts, and partitions while her obi features multicolored cranes ^^ おめでとうさんどすまめ彩さん ^o^! Image is courtesy of former geimaiko Mameryo.

A beautiful and interesting name I'd never seen before! 善如寺 is read Zennyōji or Zennyoji. It belongs to only about 480 people, but all the kanji are quite useful!
善 can be read よ.い, い.い, よ.く, よし.とする, or ゼン. It means virtue, goodness, or good. Specifically, it means good as in morally good, or good in an elevated context; for everyday normal things that are pleasant or agreeable, use 良い (also read よ.い or い.い).
如 means in the manner of, like, or the same as. It's read ごと.し, ジョ, or ニョ.
寺 is read てら or ジ. It's the reason that, for a second, I assumed that this house was a very, very boring-looking temple. (More on actual temple and shrine names here.)
Also, 寺 is useful as a radical too!
侍 (+亻person) = Samurai
待 (+ 彳 going-person) = Wait
持 (+ 扌 hand) = Hold, have
 (+ 言 word) = Poem, poetry
特 (+ 牛 cow) = Special
時 (+ 日 day) = Time

Link Click Musical Masterlist 🔍🌟
#音乐剧时光代理人# <- 'Time Agents Musical' main tag, pictures tab - shows majority of stage pictures in chronological order, updates from official Encore Musicals show up here too.
Tips: 1) Visit the OP's profiles! They usually post more than the one photo you can see in a thumbnail. And it's easier to browse & save pics through the profile.
2) Even though you can scroll the pics tab indefinitely, without a weibo account you won't be able to easily access older posts, as they'll get buried under the user's newer posts (there's a roundabout way mentioned in my guide). So I recommend to visit this tag frequently, if you wanna be sure nothing is hidden away 🔍 Daily or once in a 2-3 days will be enough imo, it's not very crowded tag ^^
3) ⬆You can also check videos in this tag, the orange tab has 10 most recent clips from the musical (other one has the most popular ones).
接着奏乐接着舞Musicals (Encore Musicals) <- official profile of a theatre that runs LC stage, they post the cast schedules, photos/behind the scenes clips, whenever new actor debuts, there's a special guests or a cast member has a birthday. They also report when an actor goes on a health break. Tip: all LC actors can be found in the pinned post (you'd need OCR 'image-text' tool to copy their names from pics though)
Encore Musicals Bilibili account <- theatre's official profile on a major cn video-sharing platform (more bts clips)
动画师lan <- bonus link to studio LAN profile, that's where they post the mysterious animation frames~
校医来啦 <- profile of a chief producer of LC Musical, Chen Xiaoyi
兮兮兮辞_ <- profile of an executive producer of LC musical
Metablue赛博蓝 <- bilibili of a music producer, she did videos about working on LC musical songs

A few actors for supporting cast don't have a tag bc they seem to be newbie actors and/or have very small online presence
Tips: 1) Without a weibo account you can scroll through the actor's tag only up to abt 45 most recent posts. The actors perform in multiple plays (duh) so non-LC photos will show up too.
2) Imo the most optimal method, so the limits won't stop you is: go to the main 'LC musical' tag and see what's new. Check schedule for the cast lineup in a recent performance. Go to the actors' tags to see what's new.
3) Sometimes there are 2 performances on a same day, with different actors. So don't be surprised if you find mixed lineups under one date.
4) Mostly QL and Lin Zhen's actresses post behind the scenes photos on their personal profiles. Don't bother looking up the guys accounts, unless it's a holiday or their b-day >< From what I remember, only Wu Yihan posts abt his cat. Zhang Jiahao and Zhou Bobo post selfies sometimes. Ji Xiaokun posts his own photography (he's good!).
5) Google translate, however broken, is enough to translate the captions, so use it for context✨Ppl sometimes give their reviews titled 'repos' from the stage they've seen 🙏
6) You'll find more musical related clips under the actor's tag, than in 'LC musical' main tag. It's usually in an actor's fancam, but not always. Useful when you like an actor or there was a particular moment you want to see from a different angle🌟👌
7) The clips tab (one in the middle) under the actor's tag has no time limited access. You can browse and watch the videos without issues!
______________________________________________________
I'll try to add missing tags when the actors debut 💪 And if you find any mistakes or a broken links, please let me know 🙏 For those who read it all, here's a present ;>
光时 <- bonus Shiguang ship tag, they're just like us fr (but way more horny on main), there's lots of art, from cute fluff to nsfw djs >>
OKAY that's all I have🎉

信 /xìn/ is a concept of TRUST. We see A PERSON 亻standing behind his WORDS 言 - therefor being TRUSTWORTHY
相信 /xiāngxìn/ TO BELIEVE (mutually trust)
自信 /zìxìn/ SELF-CONFIDENCE
___
Where does genuine self-confidence come from?
Some people would tell you that you gain self-confidence once you master the art of convincing speech-giving, body language etc.. That is what we can call FAKE-confidence.
True SELF-confidence comes from knowing what we truly are. We gain this knowledge gradually by guiding our focus inwards from all possible distractions around us and by gently opening our hearts to all our mental and emotional garbage, obstacles and fears.

Kanji of the day: 何
何 - What
Kun: なに、なん、なに-、なん- On: カ (Pinyin: hé | he2 )
Ideographic: A person 亻/ 人 carrying an axe over his shoulder
Also Pictophonetic: 可 indicates the sound (pinyin kě | ke3), 亻/ 人 indicates the meaning
Originally meant "to carry / to shoulder", but due to similar pronounciations, the kanji was borrowed for the current meaning and eventually outcompeted the original meaning.
(何 as it appeared in bronze inscriptions from the late Shang dynasty, ~1200-1000BC)
When attempting to stylistically refine and standardize kanji during the late Zhou Dynasty, the phonetic 可 (pinyin kě | ke3) component was added. Technically this does not ruin the ideograph, the T-shape in 可 is meant to be an axe handle. (compare with axe radical 斤)
(The 可 kanji is a really weird etymological rabbit hole, I'll make sure to make a post on it in the future)
Strokes: 7 Radical: 人 human

I'm leaning Mandarin in a weird way, so I care about things that most Mandarin teachers don't care about. But I'm very used to creating my own curriculum for things, so, after some thought and research, I decided that I have to memorize all the radicals.
"Radicals", in Mandarin, refer to the parts of words that are reused across many words. They often serve a similar function to Western letters; if you know how to pronounce the radicals that make up a word, you can make a very good guess about how to pronounce that word. And they're often as simple as Western letters: “丨” is as similar to “亅” as "I" is similar to "J".
Pronouncing words based on radicals doesn't always work, especially because each radical might have multiple pronunciations. But sometimes it's extremely straight-forward: 什 is made up of the radical version of 人 (which is 亻, and pronounced "rén") and 十 (pronounced "shí"). So 什 is pronounced "shén"; reading from right to left, it's the first phoneme of 十, followed by the second phoneme (and tone) of 人.
And then we arrive at 謝...
A.k.a. 言身寸, if we split it into its radicals.
Go ahead and put that sentence, 言身寸, into Google translate or DeepL or wtv. I'll wait.
言身寸 gets translated as "words and demeanor". A native Mandarin speaker friend of mine translates it as "how you talk and act". Those three words, together, become 謝.
Then put 謝 into the same translator, or even better, put 謝謝, doubled just as in "red red rose". It means "thank you".
This whole language is poetry, isn't it? Mandarin speakers are just casually dropping extremely deep and historied poetic verse, without even knowing it, all the time.

Adorable stylized characters! This is a restaurant called 日日夜夜 Nichinichi Yaya, which is a cutesy way of saying every day and every night. (And now I have "Lady Marmalade" stuck in my head.)
日 means sun, day, Sunday, or Japan. It's also the counter for days. It's read ひ, -び, -か, ニチ, or ジツ.
夜 means night or evening. It's read よ, よる, or ヤ. The radicals are 亠 kettle lid, 亻 person, and 夕 evening.
However, unlike Chinese, Japanese doesn't typically duplicate a kanji by doubling it—instead, it uses the repeating character 々. And 日日夜夜 is a cutesy phrase with an unusual reading, so here's what you actually have to remember:
日々 [ひび] daily, every day, day after day, day by day, etc.
夜々 [よよ] every evening, night after night (While 夜々 isn't very common compared to 日々, it's still worth knowing!)
