What are some surprising Gallifreyan laws?

Gallifreyan law is, unsurprisingly, vast, bureaucratic, and painfully overcomplicated. Most of it consists of dry legalese about causality, paradox regulations, and why you really shouldn't rewrite your own history just because you don't like how your dissertation turned out.

Details on Gallifreyan law are sparse. Some of these are real, some are questionable, and some are utterly fabricated nonsense that we wouldn't be surprised if they existed anyway.

📜 Actual Gallifreyan Law

🚫 No Time Travel for the Religious Class

Shortly after the Eye of Harmony was anchored, Gallifrey banned its religious institutions from accessing time travel, Time Lord genetic benefits, and political positions. This meant Time Priests, Monks, and the Supreme Pontiff of Time (AKA Time Pope) could no longer meddle with causality. Whether this was done to separate the church from the timeline or just to keep certain monks from inventing paradox-based enlightenment remains unclear.

🔄 No Meeting Yourself More Than Three Times in One Day: More than three instances of yourself in one place at one time is considered suspicious. Two is fine. Three is pushing it. Four is a blatant attempt at timeline manipulation.

🍷 No Temporal Duplication at Parties: If you attend a Gallifreyan social event, you are legally forbidden from inviting past or future versions of yourself to avoid "temporal bias" in card games.

🚀 No Claiming a Future Incarnation's Accomplishments: While Time Lords are legally recognised as a single entity across regenerations, attempting to pass off your future self's achievements as your own is considered chronological fraud. You did not "invent" a revolutionary theorem in 4000 years. Future-You did. Get back to work.

📞 "But I Haven't Got the Message Yet" Is Not a Valid Excuse: If someone sends you a message, you are legally responsible for receiving it, regardless of whether it has reached you in your personal timeline.

⏳ Using Your Own Regeneration as an Alibi is a Crime: You are responsible for what your previous incarnation did. If Past-You made a mistake, Current-You still has to deal with it.

🛑 Unauthorised Cloister Bell Activations Are Strictly Forbidden: If you ring the Cloister Bell as a prank, you will be charged with inciting mass panic.

A subscriber of mine once told me that canonically Cassandra found Casey, his real parents died in the apocalypse. I don't know how true that version is (if anyone knows, please put it in the comments. Maybe some of the creators answered this question in some Q&A), but it's the one I like best, I think.

I was thinking of this version, that Cass would find little Casey who survived, take him into her care, and give him her name. Perhaps for Leo, it would be an addition to his trauma. He would have already blamed himself for starting the apocalypse, and here he was also realizing that families were dying, surviving children were being orphaned, and Casey would have been a reminder to him of that at first. Too dark, I know. 😭

But I think it would have had a different meaning for Cassandra - she would have been convinced that Casey Jr., on the contrary, would have been Leo's salvation and hope for a brighter future.

And of course, as a shipper, I also love the version of Casey being their shared child, why not. You can make up anything in fanon, hahaha.

As for the comic, I don't want to spoil yet what's planned in terms of the development of Leo and Cassandra's relationship. Stay tuned. ⭐

There are so many LeoCass headcanons about the future: Cassandra dies in a bad future, Cassandra survives in a bad future, the apocalypse is stopped… In this ship, I also really love exactly these kinds of different developments, there's room for angst and something beautifully romantic or very bright and peaceful. And silly cute and crazy, of course. That's part of this pairing, too.

Forgive if its a bit OOC! This'll be the first non-Kingdom cookie I've written for. Unrelated but I've not read through all of her dialogue (as of writing this part of the post) and if she never has a line doing the classic time-traveler 'not where- when!' line I'll be so sad.

Timekeeper Cookie x Reader [Headcanons]

They've seen things eons into the past and future alike, traveled through hundreds of thousands of timelines- and yet, something about you caught her eye. Other versions of you have caught her attention as well, across many timelines- but you. This version of you. There's something special there. They don't know what, not yet. But she's determined to figure it out; That's how things start with you two.

While Timekeeper will sometimes look at alternate versions of yourself's future, they never look at what yours is. They've never been much for living in the moment, but with you, she wants what comes next to be a surprise even to her. Though if things were to go wrong in anyway, she'll absolutely use her powers to undo it and alter the path your timeline's on.

Hopefully she won't have to do this much, or at all, though- the more she messes with time, the more distant she become. Its hard to stay attached to when they remember there's no real consequences for anything; Not when it can all be brought back to zero with nothing more than a snap.

Best not to ask her questions you don't really want the answer to because she has a terrible filter and will just tell you if its something she knows, and she's very likely to know.

The gifts she gives you are one of a kind- literally, they're the only instances of them that exist either in your timeline or in this specific point in time. Extinct plants or animals, alternate versions of music or games that simply don't exist in the timeline you came from, or even gifts from the far-off future of things which don't exist yet and you having now will probably have some effect on the timeline but they say its fine and you should just not worry about it.

CEO of pet names. You will never beat her at variety or frequency of use of pet names. These pet names range from common, to slightly unusual, to completely bizarre. If you ask her about the bizarre ones she'll tell you all about how its actually quite common, just in a different timeline or time, and then go on to ramble about that place in time or branching timeline. Sometimes you're pretty sure she's making things up to see how far she can push it before you call her out, but its surprisingly really hard to tell.

Will happily bring you along to any point in time you'd like to see. Timekeeper's long grown desensitized to it all, but if you can enjoy it, then its well worth the visit. Perhaps you'll even be able to show her something new she hadn't noticed before.

Not very physical affectionate, but does like to hold your hand as often as possible. Won't really initiate any other physical affection, but won't deny it either. If something excites them, though, I think they're the type to do the picks-you-up-and-spins-you hug. You know the one. Which Timekeeper can do pretty easily- she's stronger than she looks!

Timekeeper doesn't sleep. They will stay in bed with you until you fall asleep if you ask, and she'll pop back up as soon as you wake up, but she'll be off doing something else to sate their boredom while you're asleep. Sometimes, though, she'll linger for a bit after you've fallen asleep and just... watch you. It makes her feel happy she thinks, or at least something in the same vein, to see you sleeping peacefully. You being happy and safe- that's how things should be, and she doesn't want to see it change.

Time Travel au (brief)

It was Harry who decided that Tom looked comfy enough to sleep on and obviously Tom wasn't going to say no to that. He's the kind of obsessive bastard who can't function without constantly touching Harry in some way or another, so acting as Harry's makeshift bed during his naps is a dream come true. Harry thinks that the horcrux inside him might have addictive, maybe even healing?, properties to the main body, or something along those lines, because why else would Tom be all clingy with him considering their less than stellar beginning? but being touch starved himself, he welcomes it and tries not to think too hard about how nice it feels holding hands with his supposed nemesis whenever they walk down the halls together in school. He also keeps the image of Ron and Hermione giving him the side eye locked very tightly in a box, shoved firmly in the darkest corner of his mind, whenever situations - like him deciding to visit Tom in the Slytherin common room and proceeding to glomp on him while they're in the middle of a Knights meeting - happen. (Cue Knights going bug eyed as Tom, unphased, readjusts Harry in his lap and continues on with the meeting. It will happen often enough that the members don't bat an eyelash to such occurrences anymore and decide not to question the ambiguous nature of their relationship either bc a content Tom is a less crucio happy Tom.) Bottom line: Harry's perfectly fine with living in denial, thank you very much, because as far as he is concerned, he's not the savior of anything anymore in this reality. A sane and very handsome*cough* Tom Riddle who somehow sees him and his opinions in high regard, is willing to take a less radical route regarding his still world dominating plans (Harry will take what he can get bc he knows a lost cause when he sees one), has no qualms giving him affection and promises to spoil him rotten as long he stays by his side? Yeah, even Merlin won't be able to convince him to go back to his old timeline. He's fine with seeing his old friends again in a different, hopefully better, future.

Monnk le Vod'ika Grande is basically a series of cobbled together ideas that I've been slowly going through and cannibalizing for other works. It was mainly written by an old co-author I had back in 2021, with discord convos and 3am rambles.

It is literally only 4 paragraphs of rambling, and only 3 of them pertain directly to Monnk or Fisto lol

Oceanic Discovery

Literally been working on this for over 3 years. That sounds impressive - it is not. Especially considering the fact that it's been rewritten 4 times and has sprouted 2 other fics that need to be completed and posted in sequence with it. It's a mess, I love it dearly, it's the bane of my existence.

General timeline places it after the Blue Shadow Virus and after Rex was shot in the chest- but I made both slightly more severe and the Clones a little more particular and paranoid about who exactly is allowed to care for their Captain (there's a lot of lore and background behind that decision that I will not explain here. Perish.) Basically leading them to break Rex out of Naboo and send him on a shuttle w only Kix to Coruscant in order to recover the majority of his medical care from literally their top scoring clone CMO.

That's the only background I'm giving as THATS COVERED IN ANOTHER 3 WIPS, OMG WHY AM I DOING THIS.

Quick question, but when did you start using or why did the fandom start using Blake as the name for Black ⭐ Star in their modern Soul eater Au fics.

hi there! ooh, thanks for giving me the chance to chat about fandom lore haha. I got the idea from @marshofsleep (sleepmarshes on ao3), whose fics you may have read (and if you haven't, you totally should!!!). there's literally not a bad one in the bunch, and marsh is largely regarded as a SE fandom (particularly SoMa) leader/pioneer and for good freakin' reason <33 they've done some really incredible writing and are just a very lovely human tbh

EDIT re: sing's reply - 'Blake' has actually been around for quite a bit longer than I remembered: marsh first used it in Lodestar (published in 2012 on FFN! yowza). but yeah! marsh was indeed the first xD (I had originally named it as being used in Quantum Entanglement but this is incorrect - still a great fic tho, so I'll leave it linked! the existence of FFN messed up my timeline 🙃)

there was a popular slew of Black*Star equivalents in the years that followed (Blaine and Blaise come to mind, and there were definitely others also) but Blake has definitely become the mainstay in the 2020s. i do feel like this particular name encapsulates his personality quite well xD

as for the why: I personally find (and I think this is most people's philosophy also) that it just keeps the modern AU illusion a bit stronger for me. i had to go back and look to see the first time i actually used it, and i think it was in Found it Once, which lines up pretty well with the timeline hahaha (written in late 2018). i've seen people do this with certain characters in other fandoms also!

Okay, let's talk about the three sentences in Knave 1 that are the reason the entire rest of the series exists.

When he hangs up with Captain Strand he hesitates, has a moment where he desperately wants to call his mother and say, there’s this boy, and I think I’m in love with him, and he’s been shot and I’m terrified I’ll never have a chance to tell him that, show him that he can trust me, that we could be great together, can you come hold my hand? But he doesn’t because what would either of them say if he did. It isn’t the kind of thing they talk about.

One, I am low key impressed/appalled that that first sentence is a solid five lines long and has more subclauses than I can count (@cecilyv, someday I'm gonna infect you with this, because it's only fair that this is reciprocal, and you've already sold me on m-dashes). On the other hand, it's a nicely balanced run on sentence, so there is that.

But more importantly, two, this is the paragraph that niggled at me. And made me kept asking - in this universe, how do Carlos's parents find out about TK? What does that look like? (and then later, what if Carlos actually had a chance to say the things to his parents that we never get to see on the show). And then I had two scenes that ended up being the cornerstones of Knave 2 that wouldn't leave me alone.

1 - the diner scene

TK looks up at him warily. "Hey, baby."

He looks exhausted, but the smile he gives Carlos is familiar and warm. Carlos sits down. "Half the city is looking for you, you know."

TK nods. "I figured."

Carlos gives him an exasperated look. "Then why are you here?"

TK shrugs. "It's Thursday. We always come here on Thursdays. I wasn't going to miss date night."

2 - the scene where Carlos comes home from Sunday lunch with his family.

TK’s reading when he gets home, curled up in the corner of the couch. He’s got his laptop open and a pad of paper next to him and he’s making notes with a tiny frown of concentration. He hasn’t looked up yet, which means he’s probably got headphones in, and for a thief his situational awareness is for shit, but it means Carlos gets to watch him for a moment, and he aches with how much he loves this.

He must make a noise, or the movement when he takes his coat off catches TK’s attention because he looks up, pulling out his earbuds. “Hey, baby. How was lunch?”

He hates that that’s a question that TK has to ask, that TK hadn’t been there with him to listen to his tios complain about the price of gas, and his mother whisper that Tia Francesca’s flan is somehow getting worse. And just for a moment he hates that TK never pushes Carlos to invite him, never complains about being left to his own devices on a Sunday afternoon, that TK understands the boundaries Carlos has drawn for himself, and doesn’t ask him to step over them.

And then I had to figure out how to combine them - and eventually I realized that for the heist plot to work, where Carlos believes without question that there's something other than the obvious going on, that you have to see why he has that kind of faith. And thus, split timeline, that I wrote separately and wasn't at all sure was going to work once I spliced them together.

Also, random fun fact - in one of the early drafts of Knave 1, Carlos had two sisters. I ended up cutting them because I wasn't doing anything with them, and they were yet more OCs I had to try and keep track of, and I already had a lot.

yuno and kazui are biologically related: my dissection of kashiki-mukuhara also huge shouts out to @nikoberry who helped me put this theory together! for ease of reading, yuno's information will be on the left side of this post, with kazui's information on the right- to the best of my ability. sources are linked best i can

disclaimer: i dont know how canon it is that the prisoners experience memory loss of their lives & parts of their murders before milgram, but this theory works best under that assumption

01. Age

to start off, it is not far-fetched that kazui could be yuno's biological father, as he would have been ~21 when yuno was born

02. Design

milgram character designs are made with a lot of intent and deliberation, the characters in the main cast look very different from one another, though yuno and kazui have a few key details that tie them together

note 1. posing; yuno and kazui are both posed in very similar ways for each of their trials. for trial 2: they seem excited, greeting you with a wave or acknowledging you wtih a nod for trial 1, they seem relaxed, but prepared. theyre meeting us for the first time, warmly, but not exposing who they are just yet

note 2. hair; these two have a handful of similarities with their hair. their hair color looks to be the same, but tinted with their respective colors they also have their bangs cut similarly, cut just under the eyebrow, a straight edge on their right side, with their hair parting on the left side

note 3, facial structure; both have a more "straight faces" (more noticeable in yuno's t2), coy smiles, and droopy/soft eyes

muu mentions just before this that she does not interact much with men around kazui's age, save for her father

kazui mentions himself having a child out of the blue, and quickly dismisses it. muu does not comment on this in the full timeline, so it could be that he is talking to himself. but why?

there is a great comparison that @dearmahiru has made for their respective t2 song artwork! though, i would also like to point out that their doors are made with a very very similar wood (re: the significance of the kanji used for their names)

the only prisoner thus far with a somewhat similar door to these two would be haruka

though the wood finish is almost entirely smooth, with hardly any visible grain, unlike yuno and kazui, who have woodgrain very visible on their doors. haruka's door is also not curved at the top

On Earth's April 1st, an individual adjusted the temporal stabilisers on the Chancellor's chair, intending to make the chair move a few seconds ahead of its occupant. The chair is now permanently unstuck in time, materialising randomly across the Institute and delivering fragmented snippets of the Chancellor's speeches from various historical and future moments.

Impact:

Spontaneous Applause Confusion: A fragment of the Chancellor's speech from a future award ceremony led several staff members to mistakenly stand and applaud mid-meeting.

Embarrassing Anecdotes: The chair has begun materialising during events to announce deeply personal facts about Rassilon's daily life.

Research Interruption: The chair appeared mid-experiment in the Temporal Sciences Wing, colliding with sensitive equipment and accidentally generating a one-second time loop. Some researchers are now perpetually one second behind everyone else.

Policy Reminder:

Pranks involving temporal, psionic, or advanced Gallifreyan technology require a minimum of three approvals:

The Vice-Chancellor.

The Technical Oversight Committee.

The Head of Temporal Safety and Regulation.

The difference between them is that in the main verse, the main timeline, and therefore in most threads and whenever your muse meets Thursday in most instances, she is dead. That's really tough! 😂 Without spoilers, there's a lot of bantering that I am excited to see if people find as funny or cute as I do. It's one thing for me to make myself laugh, but it's another if I can successfully make other people laugh too. ❤️ Though I cheer when I succeed in making people cry as well.

I think most of Fun Fact posts covered a bit of the "behind the scenes" parts that I would think to talk about so far--especially the one with the actual timeline of their relationship. Which, I will admit I had no idea that I had been writing this story for eight months until that post! 😂 I feel like I need to do something special when a year hits, but I have no idea what! Do we call it an Eirnniversary? 🤔

I apologize if that was a whole lot of nothing--I'm really bad with these types of questions! 😂

-Geography, anime and voice acting! These pretty much form the pillars of our collective identity, but other than that everyone's unique.

-We're always moving headspaces, since we get bored of being in one place for too long! We rotate between a few places, mostly based on different videogames since those are the worlds it's easiest to imagine ourselves in. Most recently, though, we decided to experiment by making our headspace a cottagecore forest with no defined layout, so we could make it up as we discovered more of it. That's been working pretty okay so far! :)

-We've had some NPCs who served as mascots or pets of sorts, though they're not frequently very active and we haven't felt them around anymore. They're mostly based on our source.

-Our system name is Kazan World! We went more at length about its origin and history in this post:

(China) - Since I'm the one fronting, I guess I'll answer the last question. I'm the oldest here both out of my sourcemates and the system as a whole. And in my exomemories, I was one of the first immortals the world discovered. It was pretty lonely and confusing before I found others like me, and humans were always trying to study me and become like me. It's probably different in this timeline, but in what I remember, I was one of the main reasons so many emperors of China constantly sought immortality.
