if i were to consider a scifi-esque verse for grey i feel like she would absolutely have to be an android of some sort since there are just so many similarities between being a changeling and being a form of artificial intelligence. the question of what makes someone human or sentient? how is humanity gained? can something that isn't fundamentally human acquire it and learn to practice it. and what is the difference between being human or just pretending to be! the twist would be that that she has the memories of a human grey hollow and has been installed into a robotic form to essentially mimic a dead girl for her grieving family... anyway i am THINKING

Expanding a thought from a conversation this morning:

In general, I think "Is X out-of-character?" is not a terribly useful question for a writer. It shuts down possibility, and interesting directions you could take a character.

A better question, I believe, is "What would it take for Character to do X?" What extremity would she find herself in, where X starts to look like a good idea? What loyalties or fears leave him with X as his only option? THAT'S where a potentially interesting story lies.

In practice, I find that you can often justify much more from a character than you initially dreamed you could: some of my best stories come from "What might drive Character to do [thing he would never do]?" As long as you make it clear to the reader what the hell pushed your character to this point, you've got the seed of a compelling story on your hands.

FINALLY FINISHED THIS!! my own interpretation and additions to Sebastian's room in sdv ! Tried to keep anything in the image from the year 2010 or predated. i think theres a few give and takes but i really like the "older brother" early 2000s grunge aesthetic on another level and i thought who better fits it than him. I put a lot of references to stuff i personally like as well ^_^
