Sorry that I haven’t posted the rest of my inktober drawings, I might post a dump of them. But anyways I have a drawing of Si’ha Nova x the Traveler and Night Swan and Mothigan as an extra drawing

i did it, i did the thing 😌✨ turtlesona time!!

MAJOR thanks to my rad moot @snailsnaps for actually getting me to draw him because the executive was not functioning on the task until they brought it up /g

Just some additional lil fun facts/ramblings about Nova that I figured might be an interesting read ^^

+ Nova's name refers to both supernovas (which I think are super cool and am totally projecting my interest onto him) & 80's bossa nova music (very vibey and also gave inspiration for their color palette)

+ Crippling energy drink addiction /lh

+ Likes bugs, particularly moths (death's-head and poodle moths are very cool) & salamanders (their coloration).

+ Places stickers/decals all over themselves and their stuff. The shiny heart and wavey-line details on their shell?? Vinyl decals they made. They only have a few spots on their shell naturally (as natural as a mutant bog turtle is lmao) and thought it was too boring, so they "fixed" it.

+ Draws but only digitally; hates the mess/stickiness of traditional art (chalk pastels are the DEVIL; he's just like me,,,, he's just like me FR 😭🖐️)

+ HUGE seafood fan: will go rabid over a plate of shrimp alfredo; also really enjoys noodles in any form.

+ Hates hot tea but really enjoys a good iced tea.

+ Special interest in astronomy

+ OBNOXIOUS music taste (based off of mine lmao): mainly hyperpop-esque EDM or emo music, but as the design implies, also enjoys some bossa nova music when the mood hits.

+ If he's not wearing his mask, they're very partial to beanies (likes to have something on their face/head at all times)

+ This mf autistic as hell /pos (he's just like me fr x2)

+ Generally seems very laid-back and calm. He's just kinda there for the vibes. BUT they are a massive enabler for chaos--they may not be coming up with the plan, but they Will assist the cause to see what happens. He Can and Will lie with a straight face to help said chaos goblin out. He likes the drama 🤷

And THIS, is a bog turtle! I obviously changed coloration to have more fun with it (and didn't go with yellow markings cuz it resembled Mikey too much), but I kept them in mind:

They're actually pretty similar in size and general build to little box turtles, so I went with Mikey's general body shape when designing Nova. :)

After her reconciliation with her father, Nova cut ties with all of her old 'friends.' She knew there was only really one way to get herself back on track and that was to take herself away from any and all bad influences. No flower did not count, he was a good-bad influence. Or at least a dad approved one.

This action however means she faced a severe amount of scrutiny, particularly from the popular kids. She often got mocked and bullied, ridiculed for going from hero to zero.

She went from having everyone love her to everyone around her possessing malicious intentions. Re-making friends became a nightmare, everyone wanted to hurt her. Some people were her friends before the popular girls told them what happened and they became cold and distant, shutting her out, other's pretended to be her friend before embarrassing Nova in front of everyone.

Eventually after many nights spent crying in her dad's arm begging him to take her out of school, but Sidney refusing until she finished the year as much as it pained him to see her tormented by her peers, they decided as a small family that's what would be in their best interests for Nova to finish high school online.

"I can't do this Lu." Nova murrmed, digging her heals in slightly as they approached the restaurant.

"Novs." Luke looked his girlfriend in the eye, or tried to as her eyes scatted all over, scanning her surroundings. "It's going to be alright!"

"Lu, what if they know? What if they pretend, becau-" Nova was rambling now, breaths coming fast, looking at him with frantic eyes.

She was meeting his friends for the first time and after the debacle that was meeting his brothers she was terrified. Quinn and Jack thought she was already a horrid influence on Luke, what if his friends thought the same. She thought off handedly about how his friends could do what her 'friends' did to her and then Luke wouldn't want to date her anymore.

"Not everyone is going to hurt you." Luke mumbled as he pulled the brunette into his arms, brushing her hair out of her face and rocking the two of them gently side to side.

"I want to believe you, I do." Nova mumbled, twisting the ring on his right hand, "My prior experience tells me otherwise."

Luke let out a sigh, he knew that this would be an arduous task but in his eyes, every second he spent helping or being with Nova was worth it. “How about if we go for ten minutes and if you are uncomfortable I will suddenly come down with crippling food poisoning from some bad shrimp we had for lunch.”

Nova stood there and contemplated weather or not that’s would suffice, deciding that not much could go wrong in ten minutes she nodded to herself, took a deep breath.

“Let’s do this. You better be a good actor as well.”

“Don’t worry Novs, I bullshited my brothers my whole life, a little food poisoning won’t be hard to fake.”

In a discord server, the apparent ship name for Boss and Nova (me) equals “Bova”.

I thought it’ll be a cute idea of both laughing at the little name combination, but both decided to go on a boba date just for the fun~!

i’m obsessed with this one lyric from nmtk so im shoving it in your faces

“Having enjoyed all the meat from the bone / Is perfectly equal to being alone / It was even, but you breathe and I turn to stone”

The first two lyrics are talking about how Soul’s been through the loop, and because of that, he feels isolated from Heart & Mind. He’s been through everything before, and seeing h&m go through the same routine of fighting and making up in cacophony, it pains him.

Now he and Whole both have memories of the loop, so they both feel a similar distance to h&m. The difference is pointed out in that last lyric though. Whole can stand up and carry on with his day just fine with that knowledge, and Soul can’t. It’s just too much for Soul.

(These lyrics are what make me think about the difference in awareness and remembering the loop btw. I believe the reason behind the difference in Whole vs Soul is being aware of the loop. Soul is aware of the loop so hes haunted by the fact that h&m are fighting again, it’s another reminder to him of how the loop goes on. Whole isn’t though, and can go by easy because he doesn’t think it’ll happen again.)

He is not IDW or BW Tarantulas and may never be. Comparing him to his IDW and BW counterparts may turn out to be like comparing Cyberverse Soundwave to every other Soundwave. Right now, they’re just too different. And I like it that way.

I’m laughing as I write this, but I really think Tara would have a Tumblr. It’s one of several ways he learns about humans, which has hilarious and potentially disastrous implications. xD

Tara uses the rubber ducky debugging method. A lot. He has a whole collection of little animal statues from god-knows-where, and he talks to them when he needs to work out an issue in his work. They’re an excellent audience.

Besides Nightshade, it’s too soon to say for sure. I can’t think of any other character either of a similar caliber or who has complimentary traits. Tara would be bored with all of them.

Okay, so this isn’t related to him and any character in particular, but I’m putting it here anyway for the irony factor. He speaks to very few, yet attempts to speak to many:

Tarantulas is a poet of sorts. For personal writings, he prefers the “primitive” method of writing things by hand as opposed to typing things into a datapad.

He takes something akin to a laser-engraving pen and writes his words on buildings that catch his eye, landmarks he likes, or other interesting places, not caring about so-called “property damage.”

He leaves his engraved notes and poems alongside a custom seal he came up with—sometimes left in places that can be seen, but often in places that are out of the way. In addition, all of his writings are in his native Cybertronian dialect, which is long-forgotten by most…

The humans and Cybertronians who come across his writings are intrigued by the mystery of the lone, wandering poet, but no one is able to translate more than a few words.

It’s like the very existence of the strange engravings communicates an internal conflict with loneliness—a silent cry to be seen, but also a desire to remain hidden.
