════════════════════════════
I step into my apartment, exhausted from another long day. I toss my bag on the couch and stretch, feeling the tight knots in my shoulders relax just a little. The rain outside tapped softly against my windows, a soothing rhythm that made me look forward to nothing more than a warm shower, a cup of tea, and my favorite book.
I head to the bathroom, brushing my hair back and running the water, letting the steam fill the room. As I reach for my toothbrush, my phone buzzes, startling me. Wiping my hands on a towel, I glance at the screen. An unknown number was calling. I hesitate for a moment but then ignore it. "Probably a telemarketer," I mutter to myself, returning to my routine. A few minutes later, I hear the familiar chime of a voicemail notification. Curious, I play the message.
"Hello, this is Dr. Kim from SVT Hospital. We're calling about Choi Seungcheol. He was brought in following a car accident earlier this evening, and you are listed as his emergency contact. Please return our call as soon as possible."
My heart stops as the words begin to echo in my head. Seungcheol. I hadn't heard that name in a little over a year. Yet here it was, suddenly bringing me back into a past I thought I had left behind. I stood for a moment, frozen, my mind racing. Why was I still his emergency contact? What had happened to him? Is he alive?
Without a second thought, I grab my jacket, keys, and phone and rush out the door, my hands shaking as I fumble to lock it behind me.
Outside, the storm had intensified. Rain lashes against the windshield of my car, the wipers struggling to keep up as I drive through the dark, slick streets. Lightning flickered in the distance, followed by the rumble of thunder, but I barely noticed. My mind was fixed on Seungcheol, on the possibility that he was hurt, on why he still had me listed as the person to call in an emergency. I hadn't prepared myself for this, for the sudden rush of emotions I thought I had buried long ago.
The drive felt endless, the storm making every turn and stoplight an agonizing wait. I begin to think of the last time we spoke and how cold and final our breakup had been. But now, all I can think about is getting to the hospital and seeing him, making sure he is okay.
When I finally arrive, I run through the rain, my shoes splashing through puddles as I rush into the emergency room. The harsh, sterile lights and the buzzing sounds of monitors greet me as I approach the front desk, out of breath. I tell the receptionist my name and Seungcheol's, and they direct me to the waiting area, where I'm told to wait for an update.
I sit down, my wet clothes sticking uncomfortably to my skin, my mind swirling with thoughts and memories. I look around at the other people sitting in the room, each lost in their own concerns, and try to steady my breathing, but it feels impossible. I clasp my hands together as if holding on to something slipping away.
As the minutes stretched on, my mind began to wander. I remember the first time I met Seungcheol through Jihoon, how he had shyly asked me out after multiple failed attempts. I thought of the late-night drives we used to take with no destination in mind, just enjoying the sound of each other's voices and the quiet moments in between. I could almost see his smile, hear his laugh, and feel the warmth of his hand in mine.
Thunder rumbled outside, louder this time, and I glanced at the window, seeing the rain still pouring down. The storm mirrored the turmoil inside me, a churning mix of worry, regret, and something else I couldn't quite name.
I close my eyes and lean against the wall, trying to steady my racing heart. I don't know what I would say when seeing Seungcheol if I even see him. Would he be surprised to see me here? Would he even want me here? But none of that mattered right now. All I can do is wait, hope, and let myself daydream, just for a little while, about what it would be like if things had been different if I hadn't let go.
Laughter.
The sound of my friends and boyfriend fills the room, pulling me back to reality. I feel a tightness in my chest, a sense of entrapment creeping in.
I don't want to be here.
I flinch slightly when Seungcheol's hand moves up and down my arm, his voice cutting through my thoughts. "Speaking of presents, everyone! Gather around!"
When will this day end? I silently plead.
"I'm happy that you all could join us tonight to celebrate YN's birthday," Seungcheol says. The room erupts in applause, a few cheers echoing. I cringe at the sound.
"I'll keep this short and sweet," he continues, taking a deep breath. "YN's, it's been ten years since we first met and five years since you finally caved and started dating me. I guess I wore you down, huh?" The crowd chuckles, but I tense up in my seat.
Please don't do what I think you're about to do, Seungcheol. My thoughts grow louder, nearly drowning out his voice.
"Over the years, we've shared so many moments—some amazing, some awkward, and a few where you probably questioned your life choices." He walks over, kneeling in front of me, and grabs my hand. "But honestly, I can't imagine my life without you. YN, will you do me the greatest honor of becoming my wife?"
"YN...?" A voice breaks through the haze. I blink and suddenly realize I wasn't dreaming. I now face Lee Jihoon, the man I once called my best friend.
"Jihoon..." I murmur, dazed.
"It's really you," he replies, his voice carrying disbelief. I haven't seen or spoken to him in two years, yet he still looks the same.
"Um, have you heard anything...?" I ask cautiously.
"Still no update. And, before you ask, some of the guys are on their way. Chan, Seungkwan, and Mingyu couldn't catch a flight until tomorrow, and a few others didn't respond. So, it's just us for now," he explains.
I nod and sink back into the chair. More questions swirl in my head, none of which I can answer. Why was he driving so late? In this weather? What was he thinking?
"What the hell was he thinking?" I mutter aloud.
"He knows about your dad. We all do..." Jihoon's voice pulls me back.
"What?" I ask, confused. He's about to explain when a soft voice interrupts, drawing both our attention.
"I'm here for Choi Seungcheol," a new arrival says to a nurse.
"Seokmin..." I breathe, catching his eye. His face lights up in shock.
"Y-YN?!" he stammers.
"Hi," I manage, my voice cracking. I stand up, and he rushes over, pulling me into a tight hug that makes my eyes sting with tears.
"Shhh, it's okay. He's going to be okay. He has to be..." Seokmin murmurs, his hand gently rubbing my back.
As he lets go, I see more familiar faces trailing behind, their expressions a mix of shock and confusion.
"YN?!" Jeonghan exclaims, unable to hide his surprise.
"In the flesh," I reply with a weak laugh, sending a slight wave to Vernon and Soonyoung, who look just as bewildered.
"Choi Seungcheol?" A doctor calls out, and we all rush forward.
"How is he?" Jeonghan asks his voice tight with anxiety.
"He—"
"Is he okay?" I interject.
"It w—"
"Did he make it?" Soonyoung adds, causing all of us to glare at him.
"Guys."
"Sorry," we chorus, silencing ourselves. The doctor sighs.
"I'm sorry to inform you that the patient has a severe concussion and a torn ACL. The anterior cruciate ligament is crucial for knee stability, and the tear means it's no longer intact, leading to pain, swelling, and instability. This most likely happened due to the impact of the steering wheel colliding with his knee. We'll discuss treatment options with him in the morning. Rest assured, we're doing everything we can to aid his recovery."
"What..." I whisper.
"He's okay. He made it," the doctor reassures. We all stand there, wide-eyed and speechless.
"'I'm sorry to inform you' was a wild way to start that sentence, Doc," Vernon mutters.
"Wait, but I heard—" Jihoon starts, but the doctor cuts him off.
"My apologies. He was unconscious when paramedics found him. It's a natural response when someone's in shock."
Silence fills the room.
"You can stay if you like. We've given him medication for the pain, and he'll be out for the rest of the night," the doctor continues.
"Thank you," Jihoon says. With that, the doctor leaves.
"That lucky motherfucker," Vernon mutters as he and Jihoon embrace while I remain frozen.
"YN?" Seokmin's voice calls out to me, but I can't move.
"He's okay..." Jihoon adds gently.
He's okay.
My knees give out, and before I hit the floor, Seokmin catches me, pulling me into another hug. I finally break, sobbing into his chest.
"Shhh, he's okay, YN," Jihoon murmurs soothingly.
We sit on the floor, my cries filling the otherwise silent space. Eventually, we go to Seungcheol's room, and I pray he's not awake. I don't know what I'd say. Hi?
Thankfully, he's still asleep. The sight of him shatters me. His face is swollen and bruised, and there's a brace on his leg. How can someone look so peaceful while in so much pain?
"Cheo—" I try to speak, but the words catch in my throat.
I step closer, scanning his features. My hand touches his face, but he stirs, and I freeze. When he settles, I gently cup his cheek, feeling the burn of tears in my eyes.
"What the hell were you thinking, Cheollie?"
The room falls silent. Outside, the rain softly beats against the windows, punctuated by the steady beeping of machines.
"Let's all just rest for now. It's been a long night," Jeonghan suggests.
We all try to settle in, but sleep doesn't come quickly. As Dokyeom, Vernon, and Soonyoung drift off, my mind refuses to quiet.
"I had a moment a few months back," I say to no one in particular.
"A moment?" Jeonghan asks.
"I was at a bookstore, and a group of friends came in. They were loud but not annoyingly so. They were laughing,... genuinely happy to be together. They reminded me of..."
"They reminded you of us," Jihoon states softly, more than he asks. I chuckle, looking up at them.
"I was finally starting to accept that I'd never see you guys again..."
"Yeah, well, whose fault is that?" Jeonghan snaps, clearly still hurt.
"Jeonghan!" Jihoon hisses, but I shake my head.
"No, he's right. I don't blame you for being mad. You all should be. I know these aren't the best circumstances, but I've really missed you."
Silence hangs heavy, and I drift into a restless sleep.
"What a way to end a wonderful day, am I right?" Seungcheol's voice echoes through our apartment as I head to the bedroom.
"I can't believe you're my fiancé! We're actually getting married!" He trailed behind me, his excitement palpable, but he stopped in his tracks when he noticed me pacing back and forth.
God must be laughing at me.
"Hey, I know that was probably a lot. I'm sorry if it was. I couldn't wait any lo—"
"I can't marry you, Seungcheol."
"What?"
"Please... don't make me say it again."
He makes a nervous, suspicious sound. "Ha! You almost got me there for a second." But his smile fades, and I see the realization creeping across his face.
"You're not— you're not joking."
I stand there, completely at a loss. In the twenty years I've known him, I've never been so unsure of what to say.
"Don't just stand there! Say something!" His voice cuts through the silence, sharp and desperate.
"Cheol, I—"
"I proposed to you in front of our friends... our families!"
"I never asked you to do that."
"That's not the point, YN!"
"Please stop yelling, Seungcheol," I say, my voice trembling but firm.
"Why?" He stares at me, his eyes blazing.
"Excuse me?" I challenge, raising an eyebrow.
"I think we should be able to have a civil conversation like adults, no?"
"That's not— God dammit!" He slams his hand against the dresser, the sound echoing in the room.
"Why won't you marry me?"
"Do I need a reason?"
"Actually? Yeah."
"Fine. Maybe because I don't want to."
"Bullshit," he snaps.
"Oh, really?"
"YN, you've been talking about wanting to get married someday since we met."
"I'm just not ready, okay?"
"You're acting like we're getting married tomorrow. We can set a date for later when you are ready. No one said we had to rush." He steps closer, reaching for my hand, but I pull back, my legs hitting the edge of the bed.
"Look, I get it. Your mom's passing... it's not easy. I know—"
"Seungcheol, don't you dare bring her into this. You asked for a reason. I gave you one."
"It's okay if that's the reason. I know how much you wanted your mom to be there—"
"For God's sake, Seungcheol! You are suffocating me!"
The words hang in the air, sharp and raw, and I instantly regret them. My hands fly to my mouth, my eyes wide with shock, and he freezes.
"Cheol, I didn't—"
"Don't."
"Seungcheol, I didn't mean that!"
He doesn't say another word. He turns and walks out of the room. I hear the jingle of keys, and panic surges as I run after him.
"Seungcheol!" I call out, but it's too late. The door slams behind him, cutting off my voice.
════════════════════════════
There's a faint knock on the door, and my eyes snap open. A nurse enters, and I lie still, listening as she greets him. She checks his vitals and, before leaving, makes a comment that causes me to tense up.
"I hear your girlfriend stayed all night. She's beautiful. You're lucky to have her and your other friends. They were worried sick about you."
"Ah, she's not my girlfriend, but thank you. I'll be sure to tell them. See you later!" he responds, probably shooting her that gummy smile.
Once she's gone and the door shuts, he speaks again. "You still talk in your sleep, you know."
I freeze. "Wait, how did you—"
"Your breathing changed," he replies. Great.
"How are you feeling?" I ask, turning over to face him fully.
"I've been worse, honestly," he says.
"Cheol, what were you thinking?"
"Dokyeom told me about your dad," he replies, catching me off guard.
"H-How does he know about that?" I stammer.
"Sonya."
"Of course," I chuckle slightly.
"She was worried. We all were. She called Wonwoo when you locked yourself in your apartment and no one had heard from you for weeks. Wonwoo called Dokyeom, and when he told me, I tried to get your number, address, anything. I even drove to Sonya's to beg for any details. He meant a lot to all of us. After a few days of nothing, I just wanted to make sure you were okay. I'm sure you can figure out the rest," he explains.
"Seungcheol, at 3 in the morning? You couldn't have waited until morning, or at least until the rain stopped? All this to check if I was okay. That was the stupidest thing you could've done. You could have died!"
"But I didn't. I'm here, aren't I?" he chuckles.
"This isn't funny!"
"You haven't changed one bit," he says.
"I—What's that supposed to mean!?" I sit up, and his chuckle turns into full-blown laughter.
"Glad to see you two haven't killed each other yet," Soonyoung says as he walks through the door, and Jihoon punches his arm.
"Ow! What was that for?!"
"Stop talking," Jihoon responds, glaring at him.
Seungcheol and I exchange an awkward glance before he clears his throat.
"The guys said they'll be landing later this afternoon," Jihoon adds.
"Why are they flying back?" Seungcheol asks, confused.
"We didn't know how serious it was, so we thought—"
"You thought you'd scare everybody? Great," Seungcheol interrupts and Jihoon shoots him a glare.
"Anyway... we brought food," Jihoon says, trying to break the uncomfortable silence that's filled the room.
"Thanks, but I'm not hungry," I say.
"Eat," Seungcheol says, his tone firm.
"Excuse me?"
"Have you seen yourself?" he asks, genuinely concerned.
"Coups," Jihoon and Soonyoung warn.
"What? Let's not pretend everything's fine. She may not be in a hospital bed, but she should be. Look at her!"
"Hello! I'm right here, and I am—"
"Don't you dare say you're fine because we all know you're not. Remember how that went two years ago? Why aren't you backing me on this?" Seungcheol's voice rises, irritation creeping in.
"You know what? I'm not doing this right now. I'm glad you're okay. It was nice seeing you all, but I'm going to leave now," I say, getting up to gather my things.
"Typical," Seungcheol mutters, but I ignore him.
"Going to change your number again? Ghost everyone? Disappear like you did last time?"
"There it is," Soonyoung whispers.
"You know what, Seungcheol? Screw you! You think what I did was easy?" I turn to face him, my voice rising.
"Sure seemed like it," he snaps back.
"Don't be so sure of yourself, Choi."
"Oh? Please, enlighten us."
I scoff, feeling my frustration boil over.
"Exactly."
"Hey, maybe now's not the time to—" Soonyoung begins, but Seungcheol cuts him off, clearly annoyed.
"No. I'd love to hear this."
"You weren't there for me the way I needed you to be! Instead, you ignored all the signs and threw a surprise party! I was depressed for months, practically begging for help. My mother had just died, and you thought a party was the answer? And to make things worse, you proposed to me in front of everyone. What the hell was I supposed to do, Seungcheol? I know you meant well, but I didn't need a ring—I needed you!"
The room falls silent, the weight of my words hanging heavy.
"Believe it or not, leaving was the hardest decision I've ever made. I've spent every second of the past two years regretting it. I nearly—" I stop myself, taking a shaky breath.
"I'm so sorry I left. I'm sorry I couldn't communicate how I felt better. I've never forgiven myself for what I did to you. Trust me, every day has been hell because of it. And now, not only do I not have my mother, but I've also lost my dad. And just when I thought it couldn't get worse, I get a call saying you were in a terrible car accident. I thought I'd lost you, too!" My voice cracks, and tears start to fall.
"So you can take your little comments and shove them up your—"
"Enough!" Jeonghan shouts as he, Vernon, and Dokyeom enter the room.
"Don't worry, I'm leaving," I say to him, tears I'd tried to hold back now streaming down my face.
"YN..." Dokyeom begins, but I can't handle it.
"I'm sorry. I can't do this right now," I say, glancing over at Seungcheol, who looks stunned as if he's finally realizing why I left. Before anyone can say anything else, I walk out.
════════════════════════════
It's been a week since that unexpected reunion. Dokyeom and Jihoon have been calling and texting non-stop, but after a while, I stopped checking. The last message I saw said Seungcheol was back home, resting.
Dragging myself out of bed, I head to the kitchen to make some coffee. Just as I start pouring a cup, there's a knock on the door. I groan, muttering under my breath, "Please, just leave me alone."
Expecting Sonya, my best friend, I shuffle to the door. But when it swings open, my eyes widen in surprise.
"Ji? What are you doing here?"
"Hey... I hope it's okay. Sonya gave me your address," he says, stepping inside.
"Oh, um... sure, come in," I stutter, stepping aside to let him through.
"Nice place. It looks spacious," he comments, glancing around.
"Yeah, I work from home now, so I needed the space."
"You work from home?" he asks, turning to me in surprise.
"Yeah... It hasn't been easy since... well, everything. And then losing my dad on top of that... I just couldn't handle it." I trail off, my voice barely above a whisper. His gaze softens, and I feel a pang of discomfort under his worried eyes.
"Please, stop looking at me like that," I sigh.
"Like what?"
"Like I'm helpless."
"I'm sorry. I just hate that you had to go through everything alone. You could've talked to us. You could've talked to me..."
"Ji, you know it's not that simple. Everyone seemed so... happy, caught up in life. I felt awful, not just about Cheol but all of you. I felt like I was drowning while everyone else was thriving. I didn't want to—"
"Don't say you didn't want to burden us," he cuts me off. "YN, we've known each other forever. You never need to feel like you can't talk to me. I'm sorry you felt that way, but I'm always here for you. Good or bad, okay?"
"I'm sorry..."
"And you need to stop apologizing for expressing your feelings. I think I speak for all of us when I say you can come to us about anything. Even now. We're here for you. All of us. I wish you'd believe that."
"I do... it's just—ugh! I don't know. I'm sorry," I say, rubbing my face in frustration.
"It's okay," he chuckles, and soon, we're both laughing.
"I missed you, goofball," he says, pulling me into a tight hug.
"I missed you too," I sigh, feeling a bit of relief.
After a few moments, he pulls back slightly. "I have to ask, though..."
"Please. Don't," I warn.
"Okay, but seriously... that was intense."
"Any chance of being in his life again is ruined. Even if I wanted to, it's over. You saw how he acted."
"Maybe if I just—"
"No!" I snap, startling him. "I'm sorry. But what's done is done. What Seungcheol and I had was special, and even though it ended badly, I'm grateful for the time we had. Maybe it's best left in the past."
"And who exactly are you trying to convince?" he asks, raising an eyebrow.
"Jihoon, please. Just drop it. For me?"
"Fine. But only because I miss hanging out with you. I miss us," he says, pouting.
"How are you still the same person?" I laugh, and we both ease into a more relaxed mood.
We spend hours catching up, and it feels like a weight has been lifted. He fills me in on everything I missed, and we joke around like old times.
"God, I can't believe you convinced Dokyeom and Mingyu to go bungee jumping!"
"It took Dokyeom 20 minutes to finally do it. Poor guy was terrified," he laughs.
"Remember when we went rock climbing?" I chuckle.
"When Mingyu called Chan 'hyung'? I'll never forget that," he says, making me laugh even harder.
"Those were good times. My dad laughed so hard that day. I miss him..." My laughter fades, and a sad feeling settles over the room.
"So... When was the service?" he asks.
"Three months ago."
"Why didn't you say anything? Why didn't Sonya? We should've been there!"
"Don't be mad at her. I asked her not to. I didn't want you guys to feel obligated to do anything. Besides, I needed to heal. After my mom... I never properly dealt with it. So when my dad... well, I let myself grieve. I cried, laughed at memories, and forgave them for things I held onto. It only got bad recently. Everything became too much, and I needed to be alone," I explain, and he nods.
"And I shouldn't have taken that opportunity away from you guys. I'm sorry..."
"I get it. It's okay... Do you feel like it helped?"
"A bit, yeah. You're the first person I've seen in months, and this is the first real conversation I've had in just as long. So, I think I'm starting to get there. I hope."
"Well, I'm glad I get to share this moment with you," he says, placing his hand on mine.
"Me too," I smile, resting my head on his shoulder.
We sit in comfortable silence until his phone vibrates, interrupting the peace. He glances at it, his eyes widening briefly before he tries to hide it.
"It's him, isn't it? You don't have to hide it from me. I'm okay, I promise," I say, giving him a reassuring smile as he answers the call.
"Woozi, where the hell are you?" Seungcheol's voice boomed through the phone.
"Well, hello to you too," Jihoon said, making me stifle a laugh.
"Everyone's already here, so hurry up!"
"You're a bit sassy, you know that?"
"Yeah, yeah, just don't forget the beer," Seungcheol added, and I couldn't hold back my laughter anymore.
"Who was that?" he asked, and Jihoon quickly responded.
"Okay, I gotta go. See you soon. Bye!" He abruptly hung up, then looked at me, and I patted him on the head.
"The eldest awaits," I teased, and he swatted my hand away.
"Seriously, though. If you ever want to hang out, don't hesitate to call," he said earnestly.
"I promise," I replied, guiding him to the door before we shared a hug.
"Oh! I forgot to ask. Are you coming to the engagement party? I know you haven't been out much, but—"
I cut him off, "Engagement party? Who's engaged?"
"Sonya didn't tell you about...?"
Dumbfounded was the only way to describe how I felt at that moment.
"Tell me what, exactly?"
"She and Wonwoo are engaged?"
I stood there, jaw practically on the floor, stunned.
"Wait, wait, wait. PARDON?"
"Uh, maybe you should call her..." he said with a nervous chuckle.
"Anyway, I gotta go! Talk soon," and with that, he was gone.
════════════════════════════
"Jeon Wonwoo did what?! Why am I hearing this from Jihoon and not from you?"
"Oh, come on! We've been together for three years, YN. It was bound to happen."
"That still doesn't explain why I had to hear it from someone else," I stand there, arms crossed, feeling slightly offended.
"You've got a lot going on... I didn't want to just drop it on you..."
"Sonya. You're my best, BEST friend. No matter what I am going through, THIS is something I needed to know!"
She has the nerve to laugh.
"Why does everyone keep laughing at me? This is serious!" I whine.
"Full transparency?"
"I'll entertain it."
"I wanted to tell you, okay? I WAS going to...Eventually. But I didn't because..."
"Please don't say it was because of Choi Seungcheol. Sonya, we've had this conversation. I even told Ji—I'm fine," I insist.
"You're not."
I open my mouth to argue, but she holds up a finger.
"Before you try to lie, I know you better than anyone. Maybe even better than you know yourself. You can pretend everything's fine, but we all know it's not. And, as much as I hate to admit it, I don't think you ever will be completely okay—and that's okay."
"Let's not get dramatic."
"It's been two years. Why haven't you dated anyone?"
"My dad just died."
"That was months ago. You've had two years. And you can't keep using the 'dead parent' card. It's not fair!"
"I know, I'm sorry. But saying I'll never be happy is dramatic!"
"Fine, happiness will find you again blah blah blah, but deep down, you'll never forgive yourself for what happened with him."
I hate how she's always right. I roll my eyes, and she chuckles.
"I'm still mad you didn't tell me," I say, refusing to give her the satisfaction of admitting she's right, but she just smiles brightly anyway. Annoying.
"Oh, poor baby," she pats my head.
"So, does this mean you're coming?"
"Will... Will he, um, be there?"
"The fact that you're asking proves my point."
"SONYA!"
"Wonwoo is family. Of course, Cherry Boy will be there," she says, and I can't help but chuckle at the nickname.
"I don't know..."
"If you skip my engagement party after barging in here like this, you'll regret it," she warns.
"Fine."
"Fine?"
"I'll go! God," I sigh, pinching the bridge of my nose.
"Wait, really?!"
"But I'm not promising it'll be a drama-free night. He definitely hates me."
"I heard about your little lover's quarrel at the hospital."
"Don't call it that," I say, scrunching my nose.
"That's what it sounded like! Dokyeom and Soonyoung said you could cut the tension with a knife," she teases.
"They were being dramatic. Seems to be everyone's thing these days," I sigh.
"Seungcheol's expressions said otherwise."
"Wait, what?"
"I went to check on him with the guys, and they told me what happened, even though Coups didn't want them to. But, you know how they are. Anyway, he seemed uncomfortable. Like he regretted it if that helps?"
"It doesn't. Great, now everyone knows I'm just a sulky mess who can't keep her temper in check."
"Hey, don't do that. He needed to hear it. I'm glad you got it off your chest. Now he knows there was a reason and that you did—and still do—have love and respect for him."
"I never said that," I snap back, but she just chuckles.
"You didn't have to."
"Oh god, not you, too," I groan.
"YN..."
"You and Lee Ji Hoon are ridiculous."
"I get that, but—"
"But nothing! What's done is done. Why can't you all just let it go?" I sink into her sofa.
"You still love him."
"Of course I care about him. He was my first everything. I'll always care for him."
"You know that's not what I mean. You're still IN LOVE with him," she says, and there's a beat of silence.
"At least let us try to help you be friends again—"
"Let's compromise," I cut her off.
"Hm?"
"Let me get my life together first, and MAYBE we can revisit the whole Seungcheol thing."
"That doesn't sound like a compromise."
"All of this is already a lot for me. I'm willing to hear you out. Take it or leave it."
"Deal."
"Deal."
"Now that that's settled... How are you?"
"I just told you—"
"I'm not talking about Seungcheol. How are YOU?" she presses.
"I'm okay?" I say hesitantly.
"Are you still drinking? Eating healthy?" I roll my eyes.
"No, and yes."
She raises an eyebrow, skeptical.
"No, Sonya. I'm not drinking. I haven't in a while. As for eating, I promise."
"Okay, I believe you," she raises her hands, surrendering.
"So, were you ever planning to tell me about the engagement party?"
"I was going to!"
════════════════════════════
To say I'm running on almost no sleep is an understatement. Tossing and turning all night, I couldn't stop thinking about Sonya and Wonwoo. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for them, but I can't shake this bitter feeling that keeps surfacing. Desperate for a distraction, I grab my phone and start scrolling aimlessly through Instagram. My eyes widen at what I see.
Jihoon and Seungcheol. I stare at the picture, hesitating before tapping on the tags and navigating to Seungcheol's page. To my surprise, I realize I've been unblocked. I scroll through his feed, noticing he's been working out a lot—something that was already obvious when I saw him at the hospital. As I scroll further, I see pictures of us together.
"He didn't delete them..." I mutter to myself, feeling a dull ache in my chest. I quickly set my phone down, sighing deeply before rolling over, forcing my eyes shut until I finally drift off.
A loud bang on my door jolts me awake, and the sun streams through my window, blinding me. The knocking persists, and I groan, throwing a pillow over my head to muffle the sound. When it doesn't stop, I realize it must be Jihoon and reluctantly stomp to the door.
"What the hell do you want?!" I shout as I fling the door open.
"Well, good morning to you too, sunshine," Jihoon says, stepping inside with a grin, and I notice Dokyeom trailing behind him.
"Remind me to yell at Sonya for giving you my address," I say, crossing my arms.
"Noted!" Jihoon responds, and I roll my eyes before hugging DK.
"He gets a hug, and I get the death glare? Wow," Jihoon says, clutching his chest dramatically.
"Why are you here at..." I glance at the clock, then roll my eyes, "8 a.m.?"
"Just wanted to check in, see how you're doing," Dokyeom says, but there's something off about the way they're both looking at me.
"You're not telling the truth," I say, narrowing my eyes.
"Is it a crime to want to see our dear best friend on a beautiful Sunday morning?"
"Jihoon?" I turn to him, and he's smiling uncomfortably.
"Lee Seokmin, what did you do?"
"Nothing!"
Silence. Too much of it.
"Oh, for crying out loud. DK told Seungcheol you were coming to the engagement party," Jihoon finally admits.
"Oh, that's it?" I chuckle.
"Not quite..." he continues.
"Okay... you're scaring me..."
"He's bringing... his friend," Dokyeom says hesitantly, "who happens to be a girl..."
Oh. I get it now. He has a girlfriend. Act. Normal.
"Oh! Good for him," I say, forcing a strained smile.
"Whew, that went better than I expected," Dokyeom says, oblivious to the looks Jihoon and I exchange.
Jihoon sees right through me. His eyes silently ask if I'm okay. I nod, pretending I'm not falling apart inside.
"Let's go get brunch!" Dokyeom announces, too cheerful for the situation. I love him, but he's terrible at reading the room.
"You can't just barge in and demand we get brunch. What if I had plans?"
"Do you?"
"Not the point."
"Oh, come on!" he whines. I glance at Jihoon, who scratches the back of his head, looking sheepish.
"You two are unbelievable," I grumble, heading to my room to get dressed. I hear them snickering as I close the door.
"I can hear you!" I shout.
I have to admit, it's nice to be out instead of sulking in my apartment. The weather's perfect—a welcome bonus.
"No mimosa?" Dokyeom asks as our food and drinks arrive.
"Not today," I reply, picking up my utensils, hoping to avoid further questions.
"You're no fun," he pouts.
"Anyway, I should thank you for this," I say, ignoring him.
"For what?" Jihoon asks.
"For dragging me out of the house. It's beautiful out, and I hate to admit it, but I miss being around people."
"Oh, hush. No need to thank us," he says.
We dive into random conversations, and after about 45 minutes, we finish our food and decide to head to the park to enjoy the weather.
"So tell me more about working from home," Jihoon says as we sit on the swings.
"Well. I thought about taking a leave, but then I wouldn't have anything to distract me during the day, so this seemed like the best option."
"How's that working out for you?"
"Honestly? I wouldn't say I like it. I've considered going back, but the thought of facing people, with everyone staring and whispering, is too much right now."
"Fair enough. Still, I admire you," he says, turning to me.
"Why?"
"The past two years have been tough, yet here you are, still moving forward. I've always admired that about you. You're strong, YN."
"I'm glad you think so, but I'm definitely not as strong as I seem. I've had my moments, trust me."
We sit in comfortable silence, watching Dokyeom try to flirt with a woman near the bike rental.
"God, he's shameless," I laugh.
"Poor girl," Jihoon comments, and we both chuckle.
"Can I ask you something?" I turn to him.
"Go for it."
"Seungcheol. Is he... okay?"
Jihoon's expression changes, and he sighs.
"You want the truth?"
"That bad?"
"It hasn't been great."
I sigh.
"The first year was rough. Really rough. He was angry at everyone and shut himself off completely. We didn't realize how bad it was until one night Joshua called, saying Seungcheol was in holding for getting into a bar fight."
"He did what?!" I exclaim, wide-eyed.
"Yeah. He shut us out. For a while, he barely left the house. It took us by surprise when he mentioned he was... seeing someone. We didn't even know he was dating or considering anything serious."
He glances at me, gauging my reaction. I smile, but it doesn't reach my eyes.
"If he's happy, that's all that matters, right?"
"It's bullshit if you ask me," he mutters.
"Ji..."
"I know, I know," he mumbles.
"Even now, he's never told us what happened the day you left," he adds softly. I inhale sharply, feeling a familiar tightness in my chest. There's a long pause before I respond.
"I hurt him. We can all agree on that. Whatever he chooses to do with his life is up to him. He deserves to be happy," I say, deflecting.
"You didn't just hurt him, you know," Jihoon says quietly.
"I—"
"No need to apologize. I get it, I guess. But it sucked not having you around. I really missed you, YN."
"I missed you too, Ji..."
"It's nice hearing you call me that again," he smiles.
"It's nice having you guys back, and maybe one day, when I'm ready, I'll tell you everything," I say, and he nods, his concern evident but unspoken.
"Guys! Guys! Guess what!" Dokyeom yells, running towards us, waving his phone.
"The girl I was talking to—she gave me her number!"
"She did what?" I ask, and Jihoon laughs.
"She has no idea what she's in for," he smirks.
"Hey! I'm a great catch! She even said I was charming," Dokyeom huffs.
"Charming..." Jihoon and I say in unison, breaking into a fit of laughter. Dokyeom groans.
"You're both mean!"
"Oh, come on. I want ice cream," I say, hopping off the swing and leading the way as Jihoon and Dokyeom follow.
════════════════════════════
After spending the day with the guys, I head back to my apartment. DK tried to convince me to have a sleepover "like old times," but I reminded him they had work tomorrow. He pouted until I agreed to a sleepover on Friday.
Later, as I lie in bed, my thoughts drift back to Sonya's engagement party next week. Why is he bringing her? I shake my head, trying to clear my mind.
"No more thinking about Choi Seungcheol," I mutter, rolling over and closing my eyes until sleep takes over.
One drink, I told myself.
I don't know how I ended up finishing almost an entire bottle, but I stopped caring. I dance around my empty apartment, bottle in hand, as music blares from the TV. When "Ocean Eyes" by Billie Eilish starts playing, I freeze.
As her voice fills the room, a familiar pain rises in my chest, and tears fall before I can stop them. I slump over the back of the couch, overcome by the ache. Anger surges, and I hurl the bottle at the wall. The rage grows, and I head to the kitchen, grabbing dishes and smashing them, one after another.
I storm into the living room, kicking the TV with all my strength and sending it crashing into the wall. I finally collapse, sliding down the wall and burying my face in my knees, sobbing uncontrollably. I don't know how long I stayed like that until I heard the front door open, followed by a gasp.
"Oh my god, YN!"
Sonya.
"What happened?!"
I can't answer. I can only cry.
"You're okay... shhh, it's going to be okay," she says, pulling me into a tight hug and rubbing my back with her hand.
"You're going to be okay."

totally (not) beating the allegations
best friend!takuma ino headcanons
contains... best friends to lovers, mutual pining, casual confession of love, kisses (platonic), kisses (romantic), modern au, high school to university au, living together-ish, fem intended reader, pet names (baby, babe, love, sexy, handsome, beautiful, sweetie, the list goes on and on), lots of physical touch, nicknames (you call takuma, kuma.), reader has a mother and a father, y'all are basically dating just without the label...
word count: 2.3k (this wasn't supposed to be long. i told myself 0.8k maximum...)
riea's comments: all sixteen people living in takuma city RISE UP! i miss my husband of 35 years so much, come back to me loml :(( something to munch on while y'all wait for the next full throttle chapter. also not too much on me if this is a drabble and not hcs idk the difference :))
first off... i just wanna say that i KNOW I KNOW that ino is one of the funniest people in the jjk cast idc idc!!! if he had more screentime (and if the situation wasnt dire) my boy would be crackin some jokes!!!!
you've been friends with takuma for around 7 years, your first meeting happening in tenth grade, when your teacher paired you two up for an interview project. when time came to actually record the interviews, it was hard to edit out you two laughing uncontrollably every fifteen seconds or so
i mean, you two just had so much in common!!! same favorite color, same favorite franchise, same favorite tv show, same favorite video game; it was like yall were the same person. there was just one thing you both disagreed on: whether hex code #286061 was blue or green
your argument ended up being the last ten minutes of the final video you submitted...
without a doubt, after that, you two became inseparable. in school, people would take notice of your closeness. when one of you were absent, teachers would jokingly ask "where's the other one?"
there was not a single thing you didn't do together, homework, go to the gym, gossip, eavesdrop, etc etc. so of course, you ended up applying to the same universities and when it came time for college acceptance season...
takuma invited you over, forcing you to bring your mailed letters from the eight universities. sprawling out over his lap, you took in the all too familiar sight of his room. you've been in his room more times than you've been in your own (and vice versa!)
i mean ino's been over to your place so many times that he calls your parents mom and dad. and you've been over to his house so much that takuma's mom practically jumped for joy every time you burst through the front doors with a "guess who's home!!!" so it was completely normal that you guys knew the ins and outs of each other's rooms, right?
"kuma, baby," you started with a sigh, reveling in your best friend's repetitive motions. running his hand through your hair, ino looked down at you, eyes showing that he was listening. "i'm scared, what if we don't–"
"ah-ah-ah! no negativity here!" he cut you off, pushing you off his lap and grabbing the letters you left on his desk. "listen here beautiful," takuma says, bringing a hand to your cheek, his heart swelling when you subconsciously leaned into it, "we're gonna take each other's letters, and open them," he handed you a white envelope, the logo of both of yours dream university on it, "starting with, kyōmei."
taking a well needed deep breath, you nodded. "okay," you and ino began to open the envelopes at the same time, only looking at each other when you saw the status. "accepted or rejected in 3...2...1..."
"ACCEPTED"
"ACCEPTED"
cue the mandatory silence before the screaming. "holy shit. you got in." "you got in." "WE GOT IN!!! WE'RE GOING TO KYŌMEI!!!!" you two practically flew off the bed, jumping up and down in celebration. peppering his face in kisses, you nuzzled your face into takuma's neck. "i'm so proud of us! i mean, kyōmei," you pulled away from his neck, shaking his shoulders harshly, "the kyōmei?!!!"
anyways, soon enough, you both realized that you'd have to move away, resulting in a seven hour search for apartments near the university's campus. and just as takuma was about to give up, you found a listing for units 19A and 19B, right in the heart of the city and just a five minute walk from kyōmei
and with that, it was moving day, well, days is more like it considering that the whole process took like ten days... finding cute furniture is really hard! and moving all of it is even harder!! and don't even get me started on the appliances! although, you and takuma found a way around it
like what do both of you need a microwave for? and there isn't a reason to have two dishwashers, there wasn't even a reason to have one! y'all kept your fridges though... who was gonna be banging on the other's door in the middle of the night for some cold water??
with time, it came for the highly anticipated freshman formal, an welcome event hosted by kyōmei itself, and of course, you had to go. so here you were, staring at your figure in the mirror as your best friend's large hand rubbed your shoulder, the other zipping up your black dress. "all done!" he breathed, taking a step away so that you could see for yourself. "i look so cute~" you giggled, hearing the clack of your heels as you twirled. "you do!" he paused, looking you up and down, "when did you get that dress?"
"your mom gave it to me a couple days ago! where'd you get that tux? i don't think i've seen it before," you walked over and straightened takuma's suit, as he laughed in response, "your mom gave it to me..."
"this was planned."
"this was definitely planned."
"we should send a picture in the family group chat!"
"we should!!! but, hair first!"
notice how i said family group chat, singular, not plural. and that's because there's a gc for both of your families! it's name was a mix between "ino" and your last name, since, in all seriousness, your families were close
so here you were, sitting pretty on takuma's lap as you focused on straightening the front pieces of his hair, because that's what best friends do!
"okayyyy sexyyyy," you squealed, moving out of the way so that takuma could see himself in your vanity mirror, "damnn, i look hot!" he smiled as he checked himself out, his hand firmly on your waist (to make sure that you wouldn't fall, of course!). "i knew i was fine but, did i always look this fine?" he asked, looking up at you with his big dark brown eyes, a playful smirk evident on his face. "yes, takuma. you're the sexiest man ever. just a bit of eyeliner on you and we'll be on our way, okay?"
turning back to your station, you grabbed some brown and black pencils before starting to lightly draw over ino's outer eye corner, "do men as sexy as me really need eyeliner?" a look from you was all he needed to know to shut up and close his eyes
and oh, how he loved being so close to you. not just emotionally but physically as well. like, not every duo can say that they barge into the other's apartment to steal snacks! and speaking of snacks... let me just say, there's a whole cabinet in his kitchen reserved for your favorite foods and! he keeps your favorite ice cream flavor stocked in his freezer
you, on the other hand, have a little space where you hide takuma's favorite anything. chips, gummies, takeout menus, you name it, you have it. because your best friend is oh-so-optimistic, it can be harder for him when he's just not having the best of days. which is why when you go your (not so) separate ways at the end of the day, you pack up a basket for him. ribbons in his favorite color, his top 15 favorite snacks from that one time y'all bought one of everything in a nearby convenience store and ranked them, takeout on the way, horror flicks he's been wanting on dvd because he said "its cooler that way", and a handwritten letter from you, for my kuma, scribbled on the envelope
dropping off the basket at his door and retreating back to your place, you'd press your ear against the wall separating your units, physically feeling your heart break when you heard sniffles. that was all you needed to practically fly over to his, a few boxes of tissues in hand. because that's what best friends do!
and don't even get me started on how many belongings y'all have at the other's place... like that one time takuma walked into your apartment announcing his presence, only to be met with silence. let me set up the scene for you. you are taking a relaxing shower when you hear a knock on the door followed by four more and then three more. "come in!" you called out, unbeknownst to you, ino's voice was closer than you thought
"already in here..., anyways. is my shampoo in there?"
"the one with the purple cap?"
"yeah, thanks babe!"
"wait, can you get me my towel?"
or that time when you causally opened the door to his unit (because it was basically yours too) and greeted him with a simple pat on his head before skipping off to find those jeans you thrifted
slight cohabitation aside, the university life was definitely... something. it was clear and obvious that you two were close, a blind man could see it. but close is a really really really vague word, and it's surely not the word that describes the way the two of you act. in this friendship, terms of endearment drop like rain from clouds. every. other. sentence. contains a "babe" or "baby" or "sweetheart" or "darling" WE GET IT OKAY...
and it seems like if y'all go a single day without touching each other, a bomb will fall from the sky and earth would blow up. his hands are constantly on you, his favorite places (when in public) being your shoulders and arms, and when at home it was without a doubt your waist and thighs. just imagine how difficult it must be for people speak to you both on campus when his arm is slung around you and your hand is holding onto his side. the rumors practically created themselves....
and when i say people were shocked, i mean they were SHOCKED when y'all were like "haha, no, we're not dating!!! we're best friends!" everyone was thinking: yeah best friends who FUCK. best friends who are IN LOVE WITH EACH OTHER. y'all became the campus' it couple without being a couple. how does that happen??!??
however... there were a couple of people who were particularly excited to hear that you both were single. a few girls approached you one day while in the general area, asking if it was true that you and ino weren't dating. "we aren't... why?" one of the girls shifted on her feet, clearly nervous. "well... could you um... give this to him for me?!" she bowed, presenting a pretty pink envelope. you froze, staring at the item before giggling. "i see what this is about! don't worry! i'll make sure this gets to him safely!" long story short, that letter was never delivered
and on ino's side, he had some classmates pestering him about you. asking for your favorite show, candy, date style, everything under the sun. "guys, guys! she doesn't even want a boyfriend right now!" takuma shouted, even though two days prior you were complaining about how spending too much time with him was scaring all the hotties away
but let's get into the real stuff... the realization of love
for takuma, there wasn't a "wow, i'm in love with her" moment. what he does know though is that he started feeling something different for you a few months before college admission season. to him, the world was always bright with you by his side but now... it was so much brighter. it was like looking directly into the sun; it hurt but he couldn't look away, he doesn't want to look away. you're the best thing to ever happen to him, and the mere thought of ruining what you have just for some feeling—no matter how intense—isn't... right to him
and you figured it out after a dream you had one night back in high school. you dreamt of being in takuma's arms, the ones you snuck glances at when he wasn't paying attention to you. in not dream world, all you had to do was ask and he'd gladly envelop you but the vibes in this dream were different. there was tension. and it was thick. his beanie was off and thrown somewhere on the bed, your bed. looking back at him, your breath caught in your throat, "hey pretty," he slurred, drunk off tiredness. ino's called you beautiful more times than you can count; he made sure to do it at least once a week, so why... just why did this time make your stomach heat up and your heart race? you woke up with a flushed face, queasy feeling in your gut, and a deep understanding. it wasn't just platonic love anymore
"hey," you started, eyes trained on the movie in front of you, but your mind was focused on something else, "y'know how everyone thinks we're dating?" ino nodded as you reached over to grab the bowl of popcorn. "i've been thinking... maybe they're onto something..."
takuma's gulp could be heard from miles away, "wh-what are you trying to say?"
"what are we? seriously. because i can't sit here and pretend like i don't wish we were something more."
"something more like...?"
"now's not the time to be oblivious! don't you get it?! i'm—"
"i'm in love with you,"
it was like time stood still as you looked at your best friend. his face was lit by the tv screen a couple feet away, his hair was a mess, and slightly prominent dark circles were under his eyes, but... he's never looked more beautiful to you. "have been. for a long time. we've basically been dating for like four years already. four more and then we'll get married?" he flashed his signature smile
"oh, shut up," he brought your face millimeters away from his, whispering "make me." before kissing you deeply, not on your cheek, or your forehead, or your shoulders, but on your lips this time. and all the times after that too
because that's what best friends lovers do, right?

Coffee Crossfire
Fandom: Marvel (Mob Boss AU)
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x F!Reader
Summary: You own a cafe in Brooklyn, Bucky Barnes' territory. You occasionally let him hold meetings in the cafe after hours and things usually go well....but not this time.
Bucky looks around the disastrous mess around him. He's so fucked as he takes note of the shattered windows, bullet holes in the furniture and walls, broken tables and chairs.
You're not going to be happy with him at all.
Bucky looks at Sam and Steve, who've just finished getting rid of the bodies.
"She's gonna be pissed," Sam says looking at the mess.
"I know!" Bucky exclaims and runs a hand through his hair, "Fuck. Okay," he points at his two best friends, "Call up a clean up crew and construction crew. We need to get started on fixing this place up ASAP."
"Got it, boss," Sam says with a nod, pulling out his phone.
Steve approaches Bucky and claps him on the shoulder, "Start planning your funeral, Buck."
"Shut the fuck up, Steve." Bucky pulls out his phone and starts searching for places that are open late. He needs to find you some flowers.
_____________________
You're up late working on paperwork when you hear a knock at your door. You get up from your desk and peer into the peephole. You see Bucky holding a bouquet of flowers and you're immediately suspicious.
When you open the door, you see the flowers and the look on Bucky's face. You cross your arms over your chest and ask, “What did you do?”
He shrugs and responds, “Why do you assume I did something?”
“Because you got me flowers and you have a look on your face that says ‘I did something bad and you’re gonna be mad at me for it.’”
He gulps and confesses, “…the cafe got shot up.”
“WHAT?!” You look at him with wide eyes. You immediately grab your keys, slip on your shoes, and ready to head out, but Bucky stops you.
“I already have my guys cleaning it up and repairs will start tomorrow!"
You groan and grab the bouquet of flowers, whacking Bucky with them, “Unbelievable, Barnes! I can't believe you!”
“Sugar, I swear, I didn’t anticipate for the meeting to go that way!”
You grunt again, turning around and heading back into your apartment. Bucky follows you in and watches as you toss the flowers onto your kitchen counter, the petals falling off.
"Listen, I promise you, that the meeting was going well and then we were ambushed. They did a drive by. Romanoff and Maximoff were able to track them. Sam, Steve, and I handled the guys in the cafe."
"None of your people got hurt?"
Bucky shakes his head, "Thankfully, no."
"Good, I might kill you myself then," you look at him with a stern glare.
He holds his hands up, "Understandable. But I already have the guys working on cleaning the mess and fixing it up. Might take a few weeks depending on the damage."
"Take me there."
"Sugar-"
"Take. Me. There. Now."
Bucky gulps, "Alright." Bucky leads you out of your apartment and to his car. The ride to your cafe is filled with silence. Bucky knows how much he fucked up.
____________________
Your heart drops when you see the shattered windows and busted door. Sam, Steve, and several of Bucky's men are sweeping up the glass, surveying the mess.
Bucky can't stand the sad look on your face, "Sugar, I-"
"Don't."
You take a look around, any man in your way immediately moves to the side. Your life's work was ruined and all because you decided to set shop in Bucky's territory.
You hold back tears and look at Bucky, "You're going to handle it?"
"All of it. You just let me know what you want and need and I'll pay for it."
"Okay...and, maybe don't have anymore meetings here from now on."
"I understand. No matter what, your cafe will still be under my protection."
"Okay. Can you take me home now?"
"Of course."
The ride back was in silence once more. It drove Bucky crazy because he loved hearing you talk and joke with him. Knowing that he was the reason for your silence absolutely breaks his heart. After dropping you off, he definitely needs to pay the guys who did this a visit.
______________________
You go to the cafe the next morning and see a group of people already working on fixing the windows and doors.
You're also surprised to see Bucky there, very dressed down in a tshirt and jeans.
"Bucky?"
"Oh, hey," he hands you a paper, "Here's a list of things that need repairs or replacements. Just send me the links to any furniture and decor you want."
You take notice of his wrapped knuckles. You immediately grab his hands and look at him, "These weren't like this when I saw you last night."
"Had to give some people a talking to."
"YOU RUINED MY GIRL'S CAFE! NOW TELL ME WHO YOU WORK FOR!"
"Hm. Did they suffer?" you look at him with curiosity.
He smirks at you, "Of course. Romanoff and Maximoff are good at what they do."
"Remind me to buy them dinner later."
He looks at you with a pout, "I helped too!"
"Hardly, I'm sure."
"Well how about I get a kiss since I'm paying for everything?"
"The damage is your fault. I'm not rewarding you for solving the problems you caused, Barnes."
He groans, "You break my heart, sugar."
You shrug, "You'll live," you pocket the list and head to the counter to overlook all of your equipment.
Bucky stays back and watches you for a little bit. He can't deny how much he cares for you, which is why he's working so hard to fix the problems he caused.
He just hopes you'll eventually see how much you mean to him and take his feelings for you seriously.

growing up in a religious household, i have developed a deep appreciation for my catholic roots. whenever I feel overwhelmed by sadness, anger, or depression, I find solace in the church.
today i couldn't help but feel a tremendous amount of guilt. i found myself hanging out with a boy, and things got a bit physical. even though we didn't go too far, i couldn't help but feel ashamed. i had promised to wait until marriage, but these uncontrollable desires keep creeping up. i've decided to go to the church to talk to the father about my recent activities and confess my sins.
as i made my way to the church, i felt a mix of nervousness and anticipation. i'm meeting with father charlie, a young and attractive man who’s also the priest at the church, which is not something you typically expect in the church. i haven't had a chance to speak with him one-on-one yet, so im feeling a bit apprehensive about what our conversation will entail.
i open the big doors to the church to see it completely empty just to find charlie sitting down on one the church benches.
“hello there” he calls out.
"father, there's something weighing heavily on my heart that I need to share with you," i said as I hurried to sit next to him.
i can feel that irritating uneasy sensation in my stomach. I didn't even give him a proper greeting. the guilt was so overwhelming that it made me stumble over my words.
"what is it y/n?" he turns all of his attention towards me, his big brown eyes digging into mine, as if anticipating something significant.
“i don’t know who to talk to, i can’t talk to my parents about this especially my own father. i’ve been feeling really guil-“
he interrupted me with a gentle smile and placed his hand on my shoulder, assuring me that everything would be okay and letting me know that he was a safe person to talk to.
“father, i need to confess something. i kissed a boy, and he kissed me back. he started to touch me, but i stopped him. i made a promise to the lord, and i feel terrible for breaking it”
as the tears welled up in my eyes, i instinctively dropped my face into my hands, seeking refuge from the overwhelming emotions.
"hey, it's going to be okay," charlie said in a gentle, caring tone as he stroked my hair, trying to comfort me.
“now tell me, did you guys fuck?”
as those words reached my ears, i couldn't help but look up at him, shaking my head as the tears continued to fall.
oh no, i hope he's not going to make me feel even worse.
“no father i swear-“
"shh, no swearing in the church," he said, raising his finger to his lips with a smirk. the irony wasn't lost on him, considering he had just dropped the f-bomb.
it was so quiet for a whole minute, and I started feeling really awkward. i had come all this way hoping for some advice or comfort, but it seemed like he just didn't care.
as I stood up, charlie grabbed my arm, forcing me to sit back down. “i didn't say you could leave. where do you think you're going?”
he replied coldly, smirking, “always so forgiving. it's kind of pathetic”
i stared at him, utterly perplexed, not really sure what he was talking about.
“father, isn't forgiveness what the church is all about?”
“sometimes, but in this case, i really want you to show me how sorry you are. otherwise, you're just going to keep committing the same sin over and over again. you don't want that, right? you don't want your parents to find out how desperate their innocent little girl has become, do you?"
i couldn't believe what i was hearing from charlie. i never expected him to act this way, let alone say things like this. i was at a loss for words and didn't know how to react. all i could do was nod in agreement. the last thing i wanted was for my parents to find out.
“father, i think i should go”
"why are you suddenly so shy, doll?" his hand on my chin made me tilt my head to stare at him.
"you don't think i notice how you look at me during mass when I'm speaking on the stand? you've become so needy that you sometimes cross your legs to stop yourself from feeling those emotions you want to avoid so badly," he says while caressing my cheek, gently rubbing his thumb on my bottom lip.
"i know you think of me taking you to the point where you can't even think straight, cum dripping out of you while i use you for my pleasure. you don't think i notice that? the way you avoid eye contact with me”
“i don’t know what your talking about father”
charlie’s hand rested lightly on my thigh, sending a spark of electricity coursing through my body. as his fingers inched toward the top of my skirt, pushing the fabric up just a little, my breath caught in my throat. each slow movement seemed to stretch time, heightening my senses and igniting a thrilling tension i couldn't ignore.
it felt deceptively wrong—the kind of reckless abandon that sent a shiver down my spine—but the anticipation was intoxicating, and I craved more. my mind raced, caught between instinct and hesitation, as the warmth of his touch settled into a deep hunger, one i found increasingly impossible to resist.
i glanced up, searching his eyes for a sign, a cue that this was more than just a fleeting moment. we held a playful challenge, a promise of the passion we both knew was simmering beneath the surface. my heart raced with excitement and fear, the boundaries of right and wrong blurring into a sweet confusion. with every breath, i felt the world around us fade away, lost to the undeniable chemistry pulsing in the air. i didn’t want to stop it; I wanted to let go completely and dive headfirst into whatever was coming next.
“do you want this as much as I want this?" charlie's voice broke through the haze of my thoughts, causing my heart to race in an unholy rhythm. i felt his gaze resettle upon me, a weight both thrilling and terrifying. my mind was a jumble, each beat vying for clarity as i struggled to focus on anything but him.
his eyes—the deep pools of mischief and longing—held me captive, swaying me like a fragile leaf in a rising storm. the blueprint of his desires flickered behind those intense brown eyes, and my cheeks burned with a shameful blush. I could hear the hymns of the service fade into background noise, a distant echo that paled against the ferocity of this moment.
what was wrong with me? i shouldn’t be feeling this way, not here—certainly not in a house of worship. my skirt brushed against my legs, reminding me of the innocence i used to wear like armor, now discarded in the face of this ravenous yearning. charlie wanted me. craved me. it was a dangerous temptation that had taken root within me, whispering sweet nothings that urged me to give in.
the candlelit corners of the church bathed in shadows, the lure was overwhelming. each passing week at mass had been an exercise in restraint, a careful balancing act over a precipice of emotion. seeing him near the altar in his crisp shirt—as though god himself had stitched him together purely for me—seemed more sublimely wrong every time.
as his eyes swept over me, i wondered if he could sense the tension glittering between us, thick and electrifying like charged air before a storm. j licked my lips, torn between the sanctity of the aisle and the allure of his promise. "I need you, doll. I can't deny it anymore," he murmured like a sin freshly minted from temptation's forge.
i felt a tumultuous wave of conflicting emotions surging within me. the whispered prayers seemed empty as an overwhelming desire ignited like an uncontrollable inferno. "father” i gasped, but the air escaped me, filled with forbidden possibilities. despite everything, all i could focus on were his lips drawing nearer to mine, as if the world around us faded away, leaving only the intense magnetism between us.
in that sacred moment, beneath the flickering lights, surrounded by silence begging to be heard, we hovered on the brink of something vast and insatiable. would we give in? would grace curdle into passion? ignoring the whisper of consequence felt like my true struggle—should we tiptoe across this brittle line, or confess that hunger has only one unyielding answer? together.
as I processed what was happening, a surge of warmth enveloped me, and i found myself surrendering to the moment. his lips danced across the sensitive skin of my neck, light as a whisper but charging the air with electricity. a small moan escaped my lips, betraying the whirlwind of emotions stirring within me. i could feel his smirk, a secret shared just between us, brushing against my skin, simultaneously teasing and thrilling.
his hand roamed over my thigh, a firm yet gentle grip that sent a shiver cascading through my body. "that's it, such a good girl for me," he purred, his voice a low whisper that thrummed like a melody in my ears, both lustful and tender. each word dripped with a promise, igniting the fire kindling deep within me, blurring the boundaries between desire and surrender.
lost in this intoxicating closeness, i reveled in the sensations; the world beyond shifted and faded, leaving only his teasing caresses and the seductive intimacy that enveloped us—a balance of power and vulnerability, inviting me to cross the threshold into unknown territory.
"father, i really don’t think we should be doing this here. It just doesn’t feel right. what if we get caught?" i watched as charlie sighed, rubbing his forehead in frustration, clearly torn between desire and caution.
"you’re right," he replied, his voice low and raspy, "but it’s late, and I don’t think anyone’s going to wander into the church at this hour. just relax, sweetheart."
i hesitated for a moment, then nodded, the thrill of the forbidden sending a shiver down my spine. i reached out, intertwining my fingers with his, bringing his hand to my lips and sucking gently on his long fingers. his eyes locked onto mine, filled with a primal hunger that made my heart race. i could see it in his expression—the desperate need to claim me, to tear away any barrier between us.
the air was thick with anticipation, and i could almost feel the weight of his longing as he shifted closer, his breath coming in quick, shallow bursts. the dim light from the stained glass windows cast a soft glow around us, amplifying the intensity of the moment. i could sense the tension building, a thrilling mix of danger and desire, as he leaned in, caught in the magnetic pull that seemed to draw us together like moths to a flame.
we were on the edge of something wild and reckless, and in that sacred space, everything felt possible.
charlie withdrew his fingers, his intention clear as he replaced them with his warm, teasing tongue. it slipped into my mouth, exploring with a fervor that sent electric shivers through my entire body. he held my neck gently yet possessively, urging me closer, deeper, igniting a fire that burned between us.
i kissed him back with equal intensity, a thrilling battle for dominance that left us both breathless. the taste of him was intoxicating, a heady mixture of desire and urgency that made my heart race. every flick of his tongue ignited a wave of pleasure, pooling low in my belly and making it almost impossible to think straight.
the heat of the moment consumed me; i could feel my body responding instinctively to his every move. the sweet tension built inside me, and i knew i needed him—needed to feel him against me, to drown in that wild connection we shared. my panties were already soaked, a testament to the overwhelming desire coursing through my veins.
charlie pushes my panties to the side allowing his already wet fingers from my saliva to dance around my clothed heat growling like a predator hungry for its prey “let me show you how a real man is supposed to make you feel darling, those little boys wouldn’t know how to handle something so precious like you. i can make you feel so good you wouldn’t be able to walk straight for days”
as he pumps his fingers in out of me the sweet sounds filling up the quiet church was enough for the both of us to go crazy “more father please” he smirked at my neediness removing his fingers out of me putting them up to mouth to signaling me to suck the sweet juices off of his fingers then going back in for a quick rub of my clit
charlie stood up getting ready to unbuckle his pants but before he could even do that a voice filled up the quiet room which caused me to jump and act quick closing my legs and hiding my exposed area “father charlie i’ve been looking everywhere for you” an older lady shouts from across the room as she appears to be in desperate need of his help
he sighed and i took that as my sign to leave before we both do something we might regret later, charlie keeps his gaze on me the entire time “hi, ill be with you in a moment” he spoke up the lady stops in her tracks wondering what a young woman was doing here at almost midnight with the priest of the church she was curious but nothing crossed her mind as she was desperate to talk to the priest
charlie followed me out of the church closing the door behind us “this isn’t over sweetheart” he placed a kiss on my forehead as he walked back into the church.

changing room - matt sturniolo
context: you go shopping for a new swimsuit with your best friend matt
nsfw.
<———————————————➰———————————————>
i have a huge crush on my best friend matt. he’s taking me to the mall today because he’s been out of town filming all week with his brothers. i know this isn’t a date but i wish it was. i don’t want things to be weird between us.
-
i hear matt’s car pull into my driveway. i scurry to put on some lipgloss and spray my favorite perfume. i grab my purse and walk downstairs.
i hear a knock at the door
“come in!”
my front door opens “hey y/n!”
“hey matt!” i run up to matt and hug him, i’ve missed him.
“you ready? i left the car running”
“oh yeah sorry!” i slip my shoes on and walk out to the porch. i lock the door behind me.
<———————————————➰———————————————>
“so how was the trip?” i ask matt as we approach the mall
“pretty good, glad to be home though. nicks gotta edit all weekend”
“yeah i bet” i smile at him. god i’ve missed seeing his pretty face.
“so which store you wanna go to first?”
i look around the map of the mall. i haven’t been here in forever.
“i need a new swimsuit” i point to a summer shop on the map
matt takes a deep breath “okay.” he follows behind me into the store
i start looking around at the different options. i grab a few to try on and set them in my basket.
“i’m going to try these on” i smile and hold up the few swimsuits that i had picked out.
he nods his head “alright. i’ll just wait here.” he leans against the wall outside of the changing room.
i go into one of the little rooms and set down my basket on the bench. why do they make these rooms so small?
i try on the first bikini- it’s baby pink. the bottoms are high waisted and has that scrunch that defines your butt. the top has thin straps and is almost too thin of a fabric.
i open the door to the changing room “i’m not sure about this one.” i step out to show matt
he turns around and his eyes widen as he looks me up and down.
“what do you think?” i do a little 360 to show him the back
“i- uh it’s cute” his adam’s apple bobs as he swallows
“not the one though.” i shrug, heading back into the changing room.
the next bikini is periwinkle with a floral pattern of other shades of purple and blue. the bottoms fit me perfectly, hugging my curves. the top is strapless with some frill.
“i like this one!” i say through the door as i check myself out in the mirror
“can i see?” matt says. i step out of the room
“woah”
“woah?” i repeat back, smiling
“you like it matt?” i do another 360 to show the back.
“yeah i do” he scratches the back of his neck
am i making him flustered?
“i’m going to try on the last one” i step back into the changing room.
the last swimsuit i grabbed wasn’t a bikini, it was a one piece but i figured i’d give it a try because it looked great on the mannequin. it was one of those swimsuits that had the cutouts on the sides to emphasize your curves. the back was open aswell.
i slide on the swimsuit but the straps get tangled in the back
“hey matt? can you help me untangle this?”
“are you dressed?” he asks
“yeah the straps are just tangled” i unlock the door and he steps in
he closes the door behind him and steps towards me. i’m standing facing away from him in front of the mirror.
obviously flustered, matt asks “uh what am i supposed to do again?”
i laugh “the straps.” i pull my hair over my shoulders revealing the back of the swimsuit and the twisted up straps.
matt runs his fingers over the hem of the swimsuit and starts untangling the straps
the gentle touch of his fingers brushing against my back and neck sends goosebumps raising all over my body.
“there” matt says stepping back
“thanks. what do you think?” i say, turning to face him
matt looks me up and down. he reaches out his hand to trace my curves
“i like the cut out” he says quietly.
“let me see the back again” he suggests
i turn around and he takes in the view.
“damn y/n” he shakes his head
“we’ve got a winner?” i laugh
“mhm” he nods. “i’ll buy it for you”
“oh really?”
he nods. “yeah of course”
“thank you!” i turn around and hug him. he wraps his arms around my waist
“you’ve gotta take it off for me to pay for it though” he whispers into my ear, tightening his grip on my waist.
his voice sends shivers down my spine. “can you help?” i tease
“oh of course” he laughs, turning me back around to face away from him
he runs his fingers over my shoulders and pulls the straps down my arms.
i pull the swimsuit the rest of the way down and discard it on the floor
matt comes up behind me and runs his hands up my exposed body. i reach back and tug at the waistband of his sweatpants. he promptly pulls both his pants and boxers down
he pushes on my back and i bend over, using the bench to hold myself up. he runs his hands down my back and grips onto my hips
“you don’t know what you do to me y/n” matt groans
i arch my back and he steps forward, lining himself up with me before pushing himself into me in one thrust, not giving me any time to stretch around him
“fuck matt!” i yell out from the mixture of pain and pleasure.
matt pumps in and out of me, the sound of our skin slapping together fills the cramped room.
he has one hand gripped onto my hip, the other intertwined in my hair.
“oh fuck y/n, mmmh” matt whimpers.
my stomach ties up in a knot and my walls pulsate around his dick. “fuck matt-“ i moan.
matt pumps inside me a few more times, letting me ride out my orgasm. he then pulls out and paints my. back with white, letting out low moans.
he lets his grip on my waist and hair go, his hair sticks to his forehead as he pants, catching his breath.
“let me clean you up pretty girl” he wipes off my back and gathers up our clothes. he gets dressed and steps out of the changing room, allowing me to gather myself.
<———————————————➰———————————————>
i step out of the room, now dressed, carrying the black swimsuit.
“ready to check out?” matt reaches for his wallet.
“yeah” i laugh
“i’ll have to take you shopping more often.” he winks, leading me to the checkout counter.

I'm proud of you - Jude Bellingham
Summary: Comforting sad and defeated Jude after England's loss. Warning: Sad moment, comforting Words: <1k
The referee blows the final whistle.
It was over. England lost. It all happened too quickly. Spain scoring in the last minutes didn't even give us time to process the situation.
I was sitting in the stands with Jude's family. We all shed a tear once the Spanish players started celebrating. Seeing Jude go off to the bench and kick something was a heartbreaking yet scary sight for me. Instantly, I knew that was going to be a sight for the media.
He's not like that at all. He just really wanted this win. With people being all over him, critiquing him, he really wanted to prove them wrong, to make England proud. I couldn't be more proud of him, though. He achieved amazing things in this competition.
As I watched him from afar, I wished I could just run down and hold him, tell him it was okay. I knew how much he had invested in this tournament, how much he had sacrificed. His dedication and his passio were the qualities that made him extraordinary. Those were the reasons why I fell in love with him.
Feeling an overwhelming urge to be closer to him, I excused myself from his family and made my way down to the lower stands, closer to the field. As I approached the edge, I saw Jude pacing back and forth, his frustration evident in every step. When he finally noticed me, our eyes locked. He hesitated for a moment, then walked over.
With his help, I crossed the barrier and immediately fell into his arms, holding his head tightly into my neck. I could feel him shaking from all the emotions he was going through.
"I messed up," he muttered, his voice muffled against my shoulder.
"No, you didn't," I said firmly, my hand gently running through his hair. "You were incredible, baby. You gave it your all." He pulled back slightly, his eyes filled with tears. "It wasn't enough. It wasn't fucking enough." "Hey," I cupped his face gently, putting my forehead against his. "Listen to me. You were amazing out there. You fought so hard, and everyone saw it."
He didn't know what to say. I could see he wanted to let go of everything he was feeling, but the words wouldn't come.
"Just stay calm, baby," I tried to comfort him, reminding him that losing is part of the game and keeping his composure is important. "You can use this to come back even stronger."
I knew my words might not have a big impact on him in that moment. It was all still raw and fresh for him, so I simply held him tighter in my arms. He pulled back slightly, his eyes still glistening. "I have to go, baby. They're going to do the ceremony."
"I know," I said softly. He kissed my forehead.
"I'll meet you afterwards," I told him, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze.
He nodded, giving me one last look before turning and walking towards his teammates. As I walked up the stands to where his family was, I felt a mix of pride and heartache.
After England had their moment, Jude walked up to us and hugged his family. They all expressed how proud they were of him, trying not to show any sadness in front of him.
He sat down with his head low. I gently lifted his chin, earning a small, faint smile from him.
"I'm sorry for disappointing you guys," he managed to say to them.
I sat on his lap, holding him close to my chest. It pained me to see him like this, unable to erase his sadness.
"You never disappoint us, Jude," his mom reassured him, holding his hand tightly.
I arrived at my hotel room feeling exhausted and heartbroken for Jude. He had to return to the hotel with the team. There was nothing I wanted more than to have him in my arms and try to ease his sadness, even just a little. I was about to get into bed after finishing my nighttime routine when I heard a faint knock on the door. I opened it to find Jude standing there, his shoulders slumped and a tired look on his face. "They told me it's okay," he said quickly, grabbing my hand and leading me to the bed.
He took off his shirt and sweatpants and collapsed onto the bed, pulling me with him. His head immediately rested on my chest as he hugged me tightly.
"It's going to be okay, baby," I whispered, wrapping my arms around his head and kissing his forehead repeatedly. "These bad feelings will pass, trust me."
I ran my fingers through his hair, knowing it helped him relax and fall asleep. I kept kissing his forehead and cuddling him until I felt his grip around my waist loosen slightly, indicating he had fallen asleep.
"You'll always be my champion, baby," I whispered softly." I love you so much, Jude Bellingham."

Back To You
“Fuck Matt!” I moan out. Matt’s thrusts get sloppier and messier, and I tangle my hands in his hair, pulling him closer to me. His hips slam against me harshly, rocking the bed, and causing my headboard to slam into the wall with loud thuds, thuds that if anyone else were here they’d know just how good Matt was fucking me.
“So close, Babydoll.” Matt groans in my ear. “So wet for me.” His breath against my ear causes shivers to run down my body, my hips shaking and rocking against Matt’s. “Fuck, you close baby?” Matt asks, his breath on my ear causing the whole thing to happen again. Another groan escapes Matt’s lips.
“I’m close, Matt!” I’m barely able to moan out. Matt groans in my ear as I feel his release in me. My body shivers and my hips buck against his and I scream out his name. “Matt! Oh god!”
He stays still for a solid minute, panting as he hovers over me. He takes a breath as he rolls over beside me, instantly pulling me against him and laying my head on his chest. “You good?” He asks.
I let out a breathy laugh. “I’m good.” I say softly. I position myself more comfortably on his chest, drawing little hearts over his.
“I love when you do that.” Matt says as he runs his fingers through my hair.
“Do what?” I ask, laying my hand down over his heart.
“Don’t stop.” He mumbles, holding my hand his his. I smile softly and begin drawing hearts on his chest once again.
Matt hums softly and he plays with my hair. “What’s up?” I ask.
“Nothing.” He says.
“Something’s up, I can hear you thinking. You do it so little that when it does happen it strains your brain and it’s audible.” I giggle.
“You’re so mean.” He snorts.
“Tell me what you’re thinking.” I look up at Matt.
“I’m not thinking about anything.”
“So as usual.”
“Okay we’re done.” Matt laughs as he sits up.
“No! I’m sorry!” I laugh out.
“You’re a jerk.” Matt says as he slips on his shirt.
“Says the guy that tricks me into sleeping with him all the time.” I snort as I sit up and put my own shirt on.
Matt grabs his boxers and steps his legs through the holes. “I didn’t trick you, you willingly got into bed with me.”
I stand up. “The way I remember it, I was crying and you were comforting me.”
“It seems to happen like that a lot lately.” Matt says. He zips up his jeans and sits back down on the bed beside me and I pull my leggings over my hips.
“I know.” I say softly.
“Are you gonna go back to him again?” Matt asks as he puts his hand on my back, beginning to rub small circles.
“No, I’m done with him.” I lie to myself. But Matt and I both know the truth. I’m too head over heels for Alex. There’s no way I could not run when he calls.
“Yeah.” Matt mumbles. He pulls me in and kisses the top of my head. “Well if you ever need more comforting…”
I laugh and hit Matt’s arm. “You’re something else.”
“You’re one to talk.” Matt snorts.
I look up at him. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Nothing.” Matt mumbles. He lays back down on the bed. I only sigh and stand up.
“I guess I’ll go home then?” I go to pick up my bag, and Matt sits up quickly.
“Why?”
“You don’t seem very happy with me right now.” I shrug and swing my bag over my shoulder, only for Matt to take it from me immediately. “What are you doing?” I ask.
“You’re just gonna go sit at home and cry over that idiot for hours. We both know it.”
I roll my eyes and reach for my bag. “Okay, now I really want to go home. Give me by bag, Matt.”
“No.” Matt stands his ground. “I’m not letting you go home just to cry for hours about an idiot you’re just gonna go back to in a week.”
“I’m not going back to him this time.” I look down. “It’s done. Over. Forever.”
“You say that every time.” Matt sighs.
“But this time I mean it. Really.” I insist.
"Do you know how many times I've heard that?" Matt laughs. "Just get back in bed here and-"
"No, Matt." I stop him from finishing his sentence. "I'm going home."
I watch as Matt stands still, his hands balled into a fist and his jaw clenched. "Fine." He says after a moment of silence. "Who am I to stop you?" He hands me my bag and sits back down on the bed. "Just don't come crying to me next time you guys break up."
"We aren't even getting back together!" I yell at him.
"You always do. I bet you that by the end of the night you'll be back with him. And do you know where that leaves me?"
"No, Matt, where?" I sigh.
"Alone, watching the girl I love get hurt by the same jackass over and over again."
I gasp softly as Matt's eyes widen from the realization of what he just said. "The..."
"Don't." Matt snaps. "Just go."
I step closer to him. "Matt-"
"I said go." He says again.
I bite my lip, standing still for a moment, before sighing and swinging my bag over my shoulder. I open the door to his bedroom and leave.
~
It's been three days since I last spoke to Matt. Every minute was even more painful than the last. I just couldn't take it anymore. So here I sit, on my bed, debating my next move.
'Can I see you?' The texts read. Alex. On the one hand, Matt confessed to me, telling me he loves me. I know my feelings for Matt, I know I love him back, I always have. On the other hand, there's something about Alex I just can't resist. I don't know what it is.
I sigh as I stare at the text, shooting back my reply.
'What time?'
The moment I click send, a feeling of dread and guilt floods through my veins. I lean back on my bed, not expecting my phone to ding immediately. I look to see Alex's reply.
'Now?'
I sit up, going to put my shoes on, but stop myself. What am I doing? How can I go back to him? Especially now that I know Matt feels the same way about me as I feel about him. I shake my head. Matt may have felt that way, but after the other day, there's no way he still has those feelings for me.
I tie my shoes and run out the door, getting in my car. I once again think about Matt. How disappointed is he going to be in me when I do this?
I shake my head. It doesn't matter. Matt doesn't want anything to do with me anymore. I start the car, pulling out of my driveway and heading down the street. I get to the ever-familiar stop light. I could go left to Alex's house. Or I could go straight. Just a few more blocks down, and take a right, and be at Matt's house.
The red-light stares into my soul. My hand rests on my turn signal as I bite my lip, and as the light turns green, I go forward. My heart races. I'm going to Matt. For the first time ever, when Alex asked me to go to him, I didn't. I smile to myself. Matt would be so proud.
Or at least that's what I thought. Before I pulled into his driveway to see an unfamiliar car there. I shrug it off for a moment. It must be a girl Chris is seeing or something, maybe just a friend I haven't met yet. I get out of my car, so fast I barely had time to unbuckle my seat belt.
I run to the door, knocking on it frantically. Chris answers. "Is Matt here?" I ask.
"Yeah, but-"
I cut Chris off. "I need to talk to him." I walk in and Chris closes the door behind me.
"Y/N, you need to slow down." Chris walks behind me as I go to Matt's room.
"He's in his room?" I ask as I point at the door.
"Y/N, stop."
"What's wrong?" I ask. I turn to the door as it opens, revealing a half-dressed Matt.
And a naked girl, asleep in his bed. My breathing stops as I feel paralyzed.
"Y/N?" Matt asks. "What are you doing here?"
"Nothing." Tears form in my eyes. "I was just leaving." I turn and walk quickly to the front door.
I get to my car before Matt stops me. "What happened, what are you doing here?"
"Nothing, let me go."
"No."
"The other day you couldn't get me to leave, what's different today?" I ask.
"You're crying." Matt says, which cases me to laugh.
"I was crying then too."
"But I don't know why this time."
"Oh, really?" I laugh. "You don't?"
"Is this about that girl?" He asks. "How did you even know I was with her?"
"I didn't." I sigh. "Alex texted me. He asked me to come over today."
Matt rolls his eyes. "And he did his normal jackassery shit and you-"
"No." I cut him off. "I didn't go see him."
"What?"
"I came to see you." I speak.
Matt stands there, stunned. "You did?"
"I didn't go see him. I went to you, and you had a girl in your bed." I look down, holding back the tears. "I'm going to go now."
I get into my car, closing the door and starting the engine. Everything feels slow. Like every second is a minute long, as if it's all in slow motion. Part of me wants Matt to stop me. To open my car door and tell me not to go. But he doesn't.
And he never will.

boyfriend - Matt Sturniolo
summary: where your boyfriend of 2 years breaks up with you without reason, you go to your comfort place, your best friend matt's house and he does everything he can to calm you down.
contains: fluff, bestfriend!matt, crying, comforting.
--------------└── •✧• ──┘-----------------
panic flushes over me, my body heats up as my eyes scan over the screen of my phone. i instantly call him, my boyfriend aiden
"are you serious aiden?" i raise my voice as he picks up the phone,
"we're done, i told you." he says blankly with next to no emotion in his voice, hes been my boyfriend for just over 2 years.
he knows the shape of my lips against his,
he knows that i can't sleep by myself,
he knows my family,
he knows my daily routine from the second i wake up to the second my head hits the pillow.
and now he breaks up with me over text.
"why!?" i cry, i hear a subtle scoff from aiden before he hangs up. i instantly start to sob, throwing myself up off my bed and grabbing my keys.
i run downstairs and out the door into the night air, making my way down my driveway towards my cute small car.
i slam the door to my car shut, sinking down into the drivers seat as i check my phone. i've been blocked on almost everything already.
tears soak my cheeks as i let out shaky sobs.
--------
11:49
i knock twice on matt's front door, wearing sweatpants and a small shirt. my shoulders are by my sides, shaking up and down with each panicked cry.
after a couple of seconds the door opens slowly, i'm met with matts face.
he looks down at me, a short gasp escapes his mouth as he looks at the state of me.
he grabs my hand and frantically pulls me inside, "hey- hey whats going on?" matt asks , trying to sound calm.
"matt- matt." i sob, he grabs me and pulls me into a tight up, running his mildly shaking hand up and down my back
"shh.. sh sh." matt attempts to shush me before pulling me down the corridor into his bedroom.
he throws me down onto his matress, instantly chucking a blanket over me and sitting down next to me.
he waits for me to speak, still completely unaware why i showed up to his house in floods of tears at midnight.
"i- aiden broke up.. with- with me" i manage to squeeze out in between shaking breathes.
matt goes silent before pulling me onto his lap, holding me across him. i cry into his shirt
"over text with no reason-!" i continue
matt stays silent, breathing deeply. i copy his breathing pattern "you 'wanna know something?" matt says, i nod
"he's made a big mistake, you're the most lovely girl i know. aiden doesn't know what hes lost because- i know, i know that he will regret letting go of the most gorgeous, sweet girl ever." matt sighs,
"yeah?" he continues, i nod shyly.
he rubs my arm, "you can let it all out okay?" matt says softly, picking me up and standing up out of bed, he pulls back the silky sheets of his bed before placing me.
he lays down next to me, pulling up the blanket over us, i lay my head on his chest.
"he never cared about me matt." i admit "and now half my shit is- its just stuck in his apartment" i sniffle, wiping my nose on his shirt which matt doesn't bat an eye to.
"you know what, i'll go get it now okay? chris can come stay in here while im gone." matt says, heaving himself up of the bed
"matt you don't have to do that- honestly," i protest, matt just shakes his head
"don't worry 'bout it." he says, walking out of the room.
-
chris walks into the room wearing blue pyjama pants and a loose fit white shirt, he has a concerned expression on his face as he flops down on the bed beside me
"you okay?" he asks, "i don't know- i'll be fine." i reply with a strained voice.
"matt told me what happened, i'm sorry about aiden or whatever the fuck hes called." chris sighs
he wraps an arm around my shoulder and tugs me closer to his side, we lay in a comfortable silence for about 30 minutes before matt comes back
"im sorry i gotta take a shit, thats my fault give me a couple minutes." chris blurts out
"thanks chris." i laugh slightly as he sits up, walking out of the room.
-
matt comes back in holding 2 bags in his hands, he brings them over to me with a soft smile on his face. he reaches his ringed hand up and scratches the side of his face.
"you didn't have to- how'd it go..?" i say, matt lays back down next to me
"he was screaming at me the whole time, all 'who the fuck are you' but i think he recognised me after a minute of ransacking your room." matt laughs
i shake my head "i'm sorry."
"don't be" matt says,
"try go to sleep now okay?" he says pressing a kiss to my forehead.

TFONE Starscream x Femme Reader x Yandere-ish D-16/Megatron (Part 2)
/Part Two/
"Anything to report switchsky?"
(Y/n) ask turning to face the group of scout seekers that had just arrived, switchsky shakes her head
"Nothing to report commander (Y/n)."
(Y/n) smiles and laughs
"Please (Y/n) will do, get some rest."
(Y/n) pats switchsky's shoulders, walking off towards the throne area. Where she indeed found Starscream sitting in all his glory.
"Greetings my lord."
Starscream smiles a bit shaking his head,
"Anything to report from our seekers? My dear."
(Y/n) sat on left side of the arm throne, pulling up a hologram of cleared area scouted.
"According to our seekers this sector has been cleared and to the west, but I think for my
Seekers safety I'll check up on the north side myself."
Starscream grabs ahold of (Y/n) servo placing soft kisses and looking up to her.
"Always thinking of our seekers. But you know I can't let u go alone."
(Y/n) sighs hopping off the arm throne
"Fine. Fine. I'll take Boomer and Rushtrap with me okay?"
Starscream stood up from his throne, giving (Y/n) a nod of approval.
"Report back immediately once the north sector is cleared."
"Yes sir."
(Y/n) was just about to turn to leave but felt Starscream servo gently holds up her chin to meet his optics
"Be safe my dear."
(Y/n) blushes chuckling, almost tripping over her pedes.
Transforming quickly to her jet form and calling Boomer and rushtrap.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"See anything mechs?"
"Nothing to report (Y/n)."
Rushtrap replies flying on her left while Boomer flew to her right side.
The three transform out of their alt mode landing on a cliff that had a great view of the landscape.
"Hmm..."
"Something the matter Bommer?"
Rushtrap ask making (Y/n) look back to the two seekers waiting for his response
"Something feels off..."
Boomers deep voice echos out till all their coms activated
"(Y/n) report back to base, some scout seekers found trespassers."
"We are a bit far but will arrive soon as possible. Let's go."
(Y/n) jumps off the cliff transforming and blasting off with a bit more speed, rushtrap and boomer transforming following behind (Y/n).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Y/n) lands at the entrance of base, noticing all the high guards were gather at the throne area. She looks back to see Rushtrap and Boomer telling them to join the others while she joins Starscream.
(Y/n) made her way through the crowd, the seekers making way for her to get to the front. Once she was in the open area she stops and sees four bots on their knees. The yellow one turns to see (Y/n) and yells out in excitement his arms shaking around.
"Hey!! Look! Look! It's (Y/n)! She's here too!"
The three other bots turn to see (Y/n), she gave them a confused look before realizing that the gray and red bot were the miners she encountered on her mission.
"D-16?"
D-16 optics widen seeing (Y/n) again he felt his spark beating rapidly, he tries to stand but a few seekers aim their weapon to him shoving him down on his knees again.
(Y/n) gave D-16 an apologetic look while making her way up the stairs standing beside Starscream.
D-16 seems to noticed that you were of importance to this so called "wanna be king"
"Do you know these bots (Y/n)?"
(Y/n) looks back to D-16 than to Starscream replying
"Just the grey and red one, they were just simple miners I've encountered during my mission to the Iacon mines."
Orion pax was glad to see a familiar face and just as he stood to say that they should work together to unite cybertron was greeted with guns pointed to him.
Starscream didn't believe in working together uniting cybertron, stating that one bot with the strength should rule/lead.
Every bot cheered at Starscream words making
(Y/n) sigh looking away, truthfully she would follow Starscream without hesitation, but wanted justice for all bots on cybertron and for sentinel to pay for his crimes. Is this really the only way?
She was quickly pull out of her thoughts when Starscream stood from his throne.
"HEY!" What are you doing?"
(Y/n) sees D-16 waking away but was block by two seekers, D-16 turns to face Starscream explaining why he wasn't going to coward away, making pity moves and pretending to be a so called king.
"I found out that sentinel is rotten today! (Y/n) was the only one to warn me about him! but I was too blind to see/hear her! And I'm going to make him pay for it!
TODAY!"
(Y/n) can feel his pain, his optics showing the pain and anger he has build up, waiting for it all to be released to the world. (Y/n) hesitantly steps forward seeing Starscream walking more and more closer to the angry miner.
"You think you could insult me?, And just walk away? No one leaves here unless I say so."
Now both Starscream and D-16 are face to face, D-16 looks down thinking to himself, making eye contact with Starscream
"Is that right?.....well how could say so? With my head in your teeth."
Without a second D-16 head bumps Starscream faceplate catching him by surprise. The whole crowd begins to cheer in excitement for the brawl.
"D!"
"Starscream!"
Both Orion and (Y/n) scream out in fear, Starscream flies up to deliver a kick to D-16, blocking it with his arms but was greeted with a blast from Starscream heel rockets.
Starscream flies straight into D-16 grabbing him by the neck, lifting him up till his back hits a piece of the broken ship. Starscream repeatedly punches D-16 on his stomach, D-16 quickly transforms his leg kicking Starscream off.
D-16 lands on Starscream, giving him punches back onto his faceplate, Starscream encourages him to hit him harder.
Both (Y/n) and Shockwave look to each other thinking the same thought, just as they both were to step in, Soundwave lifts both his arms as to say let them continue.
(Y/n) gave Soundwave a worried look, seeing D-16 hurting her Starscream. The crowd cheers out D-16 name encouraging the bot more, grabbing Starscream by the neck cables.
Starscream voice glitches out more and more as D-16 added pressure to his hold, D-16 angry seems to have come out when he lifted his arm ready to finish Starscream off. Till a large cannon transforms out aiming at Starscream, surprising everyone.
(Y/n) optics widen feeling her spark turn cold in fear, D-16 surprised as well. Talking a good look at his creation heavy breaths steaming out of him, aims his cannon more direct to Starscream.
"No! Please don't!"
(Y/n) steps forward trying to get closer to Starscream, D-16 gave her a stern stare.
"Stop! D! He's not the enemy."
There was a long pause. The atmosphere growing thicker of suspense.
(Y/n) lets out a breath of relief when D-16 pulls away his cannon, (Y/n) quickly knees down to aid Starscream. Holding him tightly, looking up to D-16 shaking in fear.
D-16 felt his spark pulse in pain seeing (Y/n) in this state but seeing her cowering to this so called leader. He could offer you so much more. Together you and him can get back at sentinel from all the pain he has cause.
You can be his.
"BARE WITNESS! THIS IS THE LAST TIME I SHOW MERCY!"
D-16 starts to claim that they should follow him to Iacon city and take their revenge on sentinel prime at this moment, aiming his cannon up shooting out a single charge. Everyone begins to cheer out his name.
"Are you okay?"
(Y/n) voice ask softly to Starscream, his voice glitches out when he tries to reassure her.
(Y/n) places her hand up to his lips, as in a way telling him not to speak.
"Please dear, I don't want you to damage your voice more."
(Y/n) looks around seeing everyone continue to cheer for their new champion, she felt her breath hitch in fear.
D-16 was looking at her direction, his optics seemed to have a more orange color to them. (Y/n) quickly looks away, her attention is back to Starscream. A loud bang can be heard from a distance, a flash of light.
The explosion happened so fast catching everybody by surprise, (Y/n) tightly holds onto Starscream who also holds back both sliding to the floor.
(Y/n) quickly pulls Starscream up pushing him away from the open area, just before Starscream was going to say something, (Y/n) transforms into her jet form. Attacking all the tracker bots down. She tackles one down, lifting up a fellow seeker telling them to take cover. (Y/n) aims up to the sky shooting down a few trackers before she felt someone tackling her down. (Y/n) grabs ahold onto their arms but felt a sting on her neck, looking up.
"A-airachnid!"
"(Y/n)."
Just has (Y/n) was going to aim her weapon at Airachind, she felt a large pain on her side of her helm, everything going dark.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey guys! Sorry for taking so long, I really took my time on this one,my apologies. I really appreciate your patience
The next one will be the final part, and I'll tell u D-16 is going to yandere-ish to yandere for (Y/n)
As We Fall | Aaron Hotchner
Synopsis: After you accidentally go on a blind date with Aaron, Jack must bear witness to the fruits of his error. — part 2 of this
Pairing: Aaron Hotchner x Younger (Of Age) F!Reader
Warnings: Age gap (r is over 22, Aaron is in his late 40s), fluff, Jack
Accidentally being set up with Aaron had to be one of the best things to ever happen to you. Unfortunately, being together with Aaron also meant having to face Jack (who was literally responsible for the entire ordeal).
“I have three rules.” Jack says with a sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose. You and Aaron were sat on the couch together, having just come back from your third official date.
“Jack, you already gave us this talk after the blind date.” You deadpan, raising an eyebrow when Aaron huffs softly under his breath in amusement.
After you and Aaron finished making out in his car the night of your blind date, you both agreed it would be good for you to come over so that you could both speak with Jack. Your best friend had only been playfully upset, but he did bring up some genuine boundaries he wanted to set and you both respected them.
Now, it seems he's adding on to those boundaries, but you could tell he was only being half-serious.
Jack’s hands fly up, waving in exaggerated motions as he gives you the infamous Hotchner stare. “Three new rules.”
“Let’s hear them.” Aaron speaks up, smiling at his son in fondness.
Jack immediately springs into his antics, clearly having thoroughly thought about these new expectations. “First rule is no sex—and I mean at all! Second, dad you don’t get to hang out with her more than me, I was here first. Third—and I really mean this, absolutely under no circumstances will I call Y/N mom.”
You snort at the catalogue of rules he’s laying out, seeing the smile that he’s unsuccessfully trying to suppress from his face. Aaron chuckles loudly and shakes his head, “Jack, the last two we can both agree on. The first one though…”
“Yeah, I mean have some humanity.” You add, the grin on your face growing even wider when you see Jack’s immediate nauseated frown.
“Okay, gross. And fine… I guess… ugh, okay, actually I don’t want to imagine that so just do whatever you both want. But only when I’m not home, thank you and please.” He rubs his temples and grimaces a bit in playful exasperation.
You gaze at your best friend with a much gentler expression and nod. “Of course, Jack. You don’t have to worry about any of that.”
Aaron gives your shoulder a squeeze just as his phone rings, the three of you falling silent as you all know that it means. His arm remains wrapped around you as he picks up the call. "Hotchner... Alright, I'll be there in twenty."
Sighing, you loll your head to the side and smile knowingly. "Duty calls."
"I'm sorry, honey." He mumbles and gives you a kiss and one last squeeze before he's clambering up from the couch and hurrying up the stairs to change and grab his go-bag.
"How long do you think he'll be gone this time?" Jack muses curiously.
You shrug and look after Aaron's fleeing figure. "I'd reckon four or five days."
"Four days of having my best friend to myself or four days of listening to you whine about missing him... I have a feeling it'll be the latter." Jack says jokingly, head falling back to lay on the couch cushion.
"I'll be sure to keep it to a minimum." You shake your head and stand up, stretching your arms above your head a bit before looking back down at him. "You're sure you're completely okay with me dating Aaron?"
"You've asked me that like thirty times in the past two weeks." He snorts, eyeing you with a teasingly drained expression. "Yes, I'm perfectly fine with it. If I had an issue, I would have ghosted you the first time you told me you had a crush on him."
"Yeah, there's no way that was going to happen. Who else is going to pick you up from parties and nurse you through your heartbreaks?" You were quick to retort, a chuckle racking through your chest when he launches one of the decorative throw pillows at you.
Hurrying away, you head up the stairs and pad towards Aaron's bedroom. He's rushing around his room, tie undone around his neck as he shoves something into his go-bag.
"Need a hand?" Your voice breaks through his trance, his head snapping in your direction.
Approaching him, you deftly tie and adjust his tie, your hands smoothing down his shirt and resting against his chest.
"Very handsy." He utters gently, a tender look painting his stare.
You pull his tie to bring his face closer to yours. "Gonna miss you." You whisper and kiss him softly.
"I'll miss you too, honey. I'll get back to you as quick as possible." He mumbles reassuringly, hands moving to squeeze your hips. "Want a souvenir?" He asks kindly, lips twitching with a teasing smile.
"Just bring yourself back in one piece." You answer, hugging him tightly.
His strong arms wrap around you, one his hands cupping the back of your head lightly to keep you against him as he drinks in the comfort of your hold.
After a few moments, he pulls away and kisses you firmly, conveying the words and concerns he has no time to voice. Silently, you both pull apart and you move to help him double check his go-bag, seeing that he's slipped a small photo of you inside one of the pockets.
The photo is from your second date together at the aquarium. Aaron had snapped the shot of you while you were both in the shark tunnel, your face illuminated in blues and whites from the water.
You don't mention it, zipping up the bag and carrying it for him as he slips on his suit jacket. He takes the bag from your hold as soon as his hands are free, lacing his fingers through yours with his other hand.
"We're going to Atlanta. It'll be too late for me to call at night, so I'll try to call during my lunch breaks." He says, squeezing your hand as he leads you down the hallway.
"Don't worry about it. Besides, I can stay up late. I'm not quite as old as you yet." You teasingly remark, swinging your joined hands a bit.
He exhales through his nose in a mixture of fondness and resignation. "Still, I don't want you staying up too late just to wait for my phone calls."
"And I don't want you to worry yourself about making phone calls while you're working on the case." You immediately counter, not wanting him to wear himself down for your sake.
Aaron shakes his head and leads you down the stairs. "I'm not just going to go radio silent on you, honey. And..." he stops in his tracks to look back at you, a coy smirk on his face. "I'll have Jack leave us alone when I come back so we can make up for lost time."
You blush brightly at the insinuation, huffing and shaking your head. "Horny old man." You mumble, kissing his cheek before continuing down the stairs.
"I really hate you both."
Jack's voice cuts through the dulcet atmosphere surrounding the two of you as he stands at the bottom of the stairs, nose scrunched.
"This time it's his fault, not mine." You giggle, immediately throwing Aaron under the bus.
"Thanks, honey." Aaron drawls out with a lighthearted eye roll.
"Dad, I love you and stay safe, but please leave right now before my eyeballs melt out of my eye sockets." Jack says, opening the front door and gesturing for him to quickly leave.
Aaron chuckles and sighs. "Now we can't have that, now can we." He turns to you and gives you another kiss. "I'll be back before you know it, baby." He says softly and moves his hand to squeeze your waist.
"I'll be waiting." You whisper back with a small smile. You can hear Jack tapping away on his phone by the door, chiming in again after a few more seconds pass.
"It's a good thing you're not a first responder, dad."
“Oh no,” I hear him say quietly.
“What’s wrong?”
He nuzzles his head into my shoulder. “Mommy,” he says.
“What’s wrong, honey?”
“This is really embarrassing, but I…I just pooped a little.”
“You just have undies on.”
He lifts his head back up. “I know. I, um, kind of forgot.”
“How could you forget something like that?” I ask, rubbing his back.
“You had me in diapers for so long,” he says quietly, not looking at me.
“Are you saying it’s my fault?”
A very small nod. “Um, maybe…”
“How could it possibly be my fault that *you* went poop in your pants? And what are you doing with that naughty hand?” He’s grabbing his crotch through his pants.
“Nothing,” he says. “I, um…I really need to go pee.”
I gently slip his hand away and he buries his face in my shoulder again. There’s a wet spot forming where his hand was, like he’s been dripping for the past several minutes. “Baby, why don’t you stand up and go to the bathroom?”
“I’m scared,” he whispers. “If I stand up, it’s all going to come out.”
“No it won’t! You’re a strong boy. You can hold it together. Come on, let’s assess the damage.” I start to stand, trying to pull him up by the wrist but he twists away.
“I’m serious,” he says. “I’m really going to pee myself.” He’s squirming now, squeezing his thighs together. I sit back down with him.
“How much did you poop?”
“Only a little bit.” He covers his face with his arms, hiding in the crooks of his elbows.
“Okay,” I say. “Like, a dime-size?” He nods, and I can see the blush in his ears even with his face covered up. “Baby, do you just want me to bring you a diaper?” I lean in close and try to say it in a comforting tone. He keeps his arms up but nods vigorously. “I’ll be right back, sweetheart. Don’t move a muscle.”
When I get back I peel his limbs apart and he’s even wetter, a big round patch around his crotch. “Did you get, like, ‘I need to go pee’ signals at all, honey?”
“Um…I think so…it started to kind of hurt. But by then it was too late.”
“Aww,” I say, gently moving and helping him so that he’s lying down on the couch. “Lift up your butt so I can get your pants off. Don’t pee on my couch.” We do have a towel down, which I thought about moving today, and now I’m glad I didn’t. I ease his pants down. There’s a big brown streak down the back of his undies and the front is soaked.
“I thought you were ready for undies,” I say. “But if you’re still going to go poo-poo in your pants, I think you should stay in these.” I fluff the diaper.
“Don’t call it that,” he says.
“Which part?”
“Um…the…”
“C’mon, baby, tell me which word you don’t want me to say. I can’t read your mind.”
“Poo-poo,” he says. “It’s too, um, it’s kind of embarrassing.”
“Are you in a position to decide what’s embarrassing and what isn’t?”
“No, I guess not…Can you hurry, please??” His hips are wiggling and bucking and a long stream of pee runs down his thigh and soaks the towel under him.
“One second, honey, I need to wipe your butt.” He whines the whole time. “Shh,” I say. “Stop that. Use your words.”
“Please, mommy, I need to pee.”
“This is your last chance to tell me you want to pee in the toilet,” I tell him. No answer. “Okay,” I say, pulling the diaper up through his legs. I hear him audibly sigh in relief, and I pull him up onto my lap. His thumb slips into his mouth and he starts sucking.
“Oh wow,” I say. “You really are just a big baby, aren’t you?” He’s all red again, shaking his head. He takes his thumb out of his mouth. “Oh, it’s nothing to be ashamed of.” I pull him closer in towards me. “Call me mommy again.”
“Okay, mommy,” he says quietly. I take his hand and guide his thumb back into his mouth. And I draw his head towards my shoulder and pet his hair.
“I love you,” I say, kissing his head through his hair.
“Mommy,” he says quietly.
“Are you going to need to finish going poop, too?” I ask, but I know he’s already pushing.
BOUND, c.springer
chap.2 | drinking, smoking, mild controlling | chap.1
“girllll. if youn get over him.”
sasha blurted out with a huff. mikasa was sitting on the other side of you, sipping her drink and shaking her head at sasha.
“nobody can get over somebody they actually liked that easy. ion know why you liked him anyway i mean… he’s… ugly.” she rested her elbow on the counter.
“he’s reiner, of course he ugly.” sasha took her shot before waving over the bouncer.
“you talk too damn much.” mikasa pointed at sasha, making her hold her hand up in defense before paying for her next drink. then she looked at you. “look, just go find somebody else. like…” she looked around the club.
“his homeboy.” sasha raised her eyebrows with a grin.
you smiled with an idea but shook your head. “ian that dirty.” you reapplied your lipgloss with a small mirror, rubbing your lips together.
“shit you better than me…”
“sasha.” mikasa shook her head and rolled her eyes. “just go out and find somebody-”
“you got his name covered up?” sasha smiled and grabbed your arm. “for real?” mikasa raised her brows while sipping her drink, looking at your arm. right beneath your elbow was two roses with details around them.
“oh yeah.” you looked at your arm and tilted your head.
“ion even remember who did it. or when it happened. at all.” you lightly laughed.
“girl what the hell was you doin last week?” mikasa frowned.
“told reiner to drop me off, ain’t even go to my house and all i remember is walking to the shop.” you shook your head. as the bouncer passed by, you waved at him.
“three shots.”
“of?”
“your choice.” you smiled.
he nodded. “i’ll be right back.”
that’s when you felt someone put their arm across your shoulder. “long time no see.” someone said in your ear. never thought you’d hear that voice again.
“reiner, what you want?” you squinted and shook your head.
“i can’t be nice?” he frowned, tapping your shoulder a little.
“she obviously don’t wanna talk to you.” sasha raised her eyebrow, turning towards you two. reiner glanced at sasha, then mikasa, who was giving him the same look.
“let’s just… talk alone.” he stood back a little. “please.”
you slowly inhaled, held it, and then exhaled. when the bouncer handed you your shots, you downed two, paused, then took the last one.
“okay.” you tapped the counter with the cup, signaling sasha and mikasa to keep your watch, them clearing their throats as an okay.
you hopped off the counter and let his lead you to a corner of the club. “so you got my name covered up.” he scoffed and stuffed his hands in his pockets. you stared up at him with bored eyes. “what you really want?”
“to see why you ain’t been answering my messages. or calls. tryna see why you act like youn know nobody.” he tilted his head at you.
you crossed your arms while continuing to stare at him. “did that other woman know you had a girlfriend when she was feelin on you?” you tilted your head back at him.
“you act like that was cheating. it wasn’t. you just bein dramatic at this point.”
“oh, outta all the dumb shit you done said, that’s the worst.”
“i’m tryna make things right and you bein stubborn. you wonder why we can’t talk things out.” reiner looked to the side in annoyance.
“maybe ion wanna talk things out because there’s nothing to talk out. cheating ain’t justified so ain’t no reason in wasting yo breath tryna make me forgive you.” you shrugged, arms still crossed.
one thing you’d never do is give in to somebody asking for forgiveness for something they knew was wrong. and when is cheating an accident? reiners rarely drunk, and you don’t have a twin sister.
“maybe you just insecure. her rubbing on my arm isn’t justified as cheating.”
you paused for a moment, processing what dumb shit he said to you this time.
“insecure?” you scoffed and shook your head, looking around as if there was a crowd watching this act. and he was the damn clown.
“man, lemme tell you sum. you’ll never catch me bein insecure about myself bout another bitch. i promise. another thing, ion wanna talk nothing out with you because ain’t shit to talk about. now you can sit here and lie to yo damn self if you want to, but at the end of the day, no is no. ion wanna be wit you. ion wanna talk to you. we done. stop texting me and stop calling me, i won’t answer. point blank.” you looked him in his eyes to let him know you were dead serious about everything you just said.
for him to even assume you’re insecure of another bitch. crazy work. you never showed a sign of it, you never even showed jealousy, so how the fuck could you be labeled as insecure?
all because you didn’t wanna forgive him for something he did— something he caused. crazy work.
you felt yourself getting drunker by the second, so you had no choice but to go back to where sasha and mikasa was.
“can we-“
“finallyyy. how’d the talk go?” sasha questioned as soon as you made it back. “a buncha bullshit.” you pursed your lips together and glanced around.
“girl-“ mikasa started before her phone dinged. “oh. eren want us to come over there.” she smiled at her phone.
sasha fake gagged. “you one simp ass girl.” she raised her lip in a disgusted way.
“oh but when it’s about niccolo…” mikasa tilted her head. “alright.” sasha rolled her eyes playfully and hopped off the stool.
the three of you made your way over to where the rest of the group was. “what i was sayin, reiner don’t know what the hell he be talkin bout half of the time. so… to be honest, block him. and move on to the next. mikasa shrugged while making her way through the crowd.
“i’m not finna be worried bout his ass nomo. ion got time.” you mumbled as she finally found where the rest of the group was.
you didn’t really hang around the rest of the group, other than eren and armin. since two groups came together to make one, and you were originally apart of eren, mikasa, and armin. you didn’t really know the rest.
“hey.” you spoke to everyone with a friendly wave.
so awkward of you.
everybody spoke back. mikasa sat beside eren who put his arm around her. sasha sat by jean, who started picking with her at soon as she touched the couch.
you looked around for somewhere to sit, but the groups so damn big, there wasn’t even really space for you.
that’s when you saw someone slide over and glance at you while rolling a blunt. he looked so familiar, but you couldn’t get the picture on who he was in your head.
that buzzcut. and the ear piercing that you didn’t even notice until now.
whatever.
you sat between him and someone else. ony, yeah, that’s his name. or his nickname. “thank you.” you mumbled, putting your hands in your lap and rubbing your lipgloss in, having nothing else to do or talk about.
“you good.”
his voice was so familiar.
“i get so tired of y’all mu’fuckas. i mean every day y’all be hugged up. don’t nobody wanna see that shit.” jean squinted at mikasa and eren.
“shut the fuck up you just mad don’t nobody want yo ass.” eren held his finger up at jean. everybody laughed and jean smacked his lips. “man connie where my blunt? befo i do sum to all these rats.” jean frowned and leaned back.
connie…
connie…?
“where my money?” connie glanced up at jean, dabbing the blunt with his tongue.
“yeen even ask for it!”
“what you asked me before?” connie glanced up again, flicking his lighter.
“where my blunt man.” jean groaned.
“yeen even ask for it.” connie put the blunt to his lips, lighting it, while sitting the weed tray on the table.
connie…
that name repeated in your mind for about three whole minutes, you getting lost in space tryna remember where the hell you know him from.
while those three minutes passed, the whole group talked, connie scrolling on his phone. he glanced at you for a second before taking the blunt from his lips.
“wanna hit?” he exhaled.
you snapped out of your daydreaming and looked up at him for a few seconds. the stare held as you examined his face, too drunk to realize you were even staring. “mhm.” you nodded.
he was tryna pass you the blunt, but you being wasted, didn’t even realize it. you just kept looking at his face.
and his tattoos.
that’s when he put his phone down and held the blunt to where you could hit it from his hand.
you closed your eyes and inhaled deeply, holding it for a minute before exhaling. all while looking in his eyes.
“you like that?” he slowly started to smile, looking at your lips as you smiled you nodded.
“you want it?” he bit his lip. you nodded again, grabbing the blunt and hitting it again.
good shit.
you almost forgot all about the name.
oh, the name.
“that tattoo look good. who did it?” armin leaned up to see your tattoo more.
“connie.” you answered mindlessly. you didn’t even know what you were talking about at this point.
connie looked at you and laughed a little.
baby finn series, the last hooray
lando norris x mom!wife!reader
series masterlist
summary - in order to give finn some extra attention before the baby comes, the young family heads to the english countryside, visiting lando’s parents, and granting finn the last little bit of time all about him.
masterlist
-
“okay finn, what else do you want to bring?” you crouch down and ask your son, attempting to aid his independence while he tries to pack himself.
“hmm,” he mumbles, glancing around his room and then back towards his suitcase, “my toy!”
you chuckle at his enthusiasm, grabbing the toy he was pointing at and throwing it into the bag, “alright, baby, i think you’ve got everything,”
“otay!” he squeals with a clap to his hands, “i show dada?”
“you can show daddy what a big boy you are once he gets home, baby,” you direct to the boy, zipping up his suitcase and pulling him into your arms, “are you excited about this week?”
“yes!” he claps again, “i miss nan and gwampa,”
“i know, but now we’ll be with them for a whole week!” you cheer to him, tickling finn in your lap as he squirms around in a fit of giggles.
“woah, woah,” lando makes his entrance known in the room, leaning against the doorframe, “who’s having all this fun without me?”
“DADA!” your son jumps from your arms, sprinting towards his father to engulf him into a hug. lando scoops up your son, receiving the hug and placing a few kisses to the top of his head.
“hi bubs, what are you and momma doing?” he asks, looking around the room, sending you a wink before taking a seat next to you on the floor.
“packing,” you reply to your husband’s question, “finn didn’t you wanna show daddy?” you nudge your son.
“dada i big like you! i pack myself!”
“really, buddy? good job, ‘m so proud of you,” lando squeezes his giggly son a little tighter, finn absolutely beaming at the praise. he then looks towards his suitcase and starts to show you and lando everything in it. you both giggle in front of him, sounding out a chorus of 'oo's' and 'ahh's' to the little boy. once he was finished, he starts to repack, you internally sighing knowing you'd have to do it properly later.
“alright, baby, daddy and i now have to go pack,” you sigh, “why don’t you read your book for a bit?”
“otay, momma!” finn runs over to his bookcase, grabbing his few dr seuss books and getting situated on his little reading chair. lando glances over at you, six months pregnant and struggling to stand up, holding out his hands to lift you into his arms. once you’re both standing, you leave the room, hearing the quiet mumblings of your four year old trying his best to read the books in front of him.
“i already have most of your clothes set aside that are clean from the wash,” you start, moving around your room to grab both of the suitcases, laying them out on the floor.
“okay, i’m chartering a private flight,” lando breathes out, “so we’ve got to be at the airport by four in the morning tomorrow, the car will be here at three,”
“oh god,” you sigh, “i hope finn sleeps the whole time,”
“it’s like a two hour flight, so we’ll get there around six, but the time difference so it’ll be five-”
“love,” you cut him off, reaching out to take his hands in yours, “everything will be fine, we’ve done this a million times,”
“i know,” he shakes his head, squeezing your intertwined hands a bit, “just never when you were this pregnant and with a toddler,”
“i’m not in my third trimester yet, it is more than safe for me to fly,” you reassure him, a hand coming up to stroke his cheek as he leans into your touch, “and finn will be fine, he’s flown before he knows how it is and he’s always well behaved,”
“okay,” lando’s stress releases a bit, the tension in his shoulders visibly weakening, “you’re right we’ll be fine,”
“yes we will,” pecking his lips quickly, you begin to gather more of your clothes, readying your suitcase for the trip.
-
“baby,” you shake finn lightly, “we’re here,” he was currently sprawled across your husband's lap, head on yours as he slept throughout the whole flight. he doesn’t budge an inch, ever the heavy sleeper, and lando just laughs at his son’s persistence.
“i’ll carry him, y/n,” he whispers over to you, now grabbing finn in his arms along with swinging your bag over his shoulder. you gather your things, along with some of lando’s, and head down the steps off the jet.
“there they are!” adam hushes out, noticing the tired boy in his own son’s arms.
“hi, hi” you nod towards cisca and adam, lando’s dad rushing to grab the things from your arms as he begins to carry them to the car. you hush out a quiet ‘thank you’ and keep moving, climbing into their backseat. lando begins tucking finn into his carseat in between the both of you, sending you a wink as he finally buckles him in. the drive goes on, lando’s parents asking about the doctor’s appointments, upcoming races, and all around catching up with their son and daughter-in-law.
before you knew it, you had arrived at the parent’s country estate, beyond excited to breathe some fresh air along with having some peace away from the city. exiting the vehicle, adam makes his way to grab your things, lando carrying the sleeping boy yet again, and you all head into the home.
“it feels so good to be here,” your husband whispers out, his mother giving him a side hug to emphasize her own love of her son being near them once again.
“the guest room is all set up for the both of you, and lando, your old room is set up for finn,” cisca directs him, “why don’t you all get settled in, let the boy wake up, and then we can talk about breakfast?”
“that sounds perfect,” you sigh, “thank you, cisca,” she nods in your direction as your young family brings yourselves up the stairs and down to your rooms. once lando had laid finn down onto the guest bed, he moved over to where you were beginning to unpack your things.
“hi baby,” he whispers, still trying to not wake the four year old just a few steps away.
“hi, lan,” you smile, tossing your arms around his neck, his own hands holding your waist steady, “see? i knew we’d be fine,”
“you are always right, my lovely wife,” he shakes his head with a smile, kissing your lips as you sink into him.
“mm, you keep talking like that and we won’t leave the bedroom this week,” lando groans at this imagine, pulling you even closer for another kiss.
“momma? dada?” your son begins to stir, bringing his hands up to rub the sleep out of his eyes.
“yes baby?” you ask, lando groaning quietly at the halting of your momentum, dropping his head down onto your shoulder.
“are we here?” finn mumbles, now sitting up on the bed and beginning to look around.
“yeah, love, we just got here,” you whisper to him, watching him slightly nod and take in his surroundings.
“where nan and gwampa?” he asks, now scooting towards the edge of the bed, struggling to hop off. your husband now noticing his struggling son, heads over and lifts him onto his hip.
“they’re downstairs, bubs,” lando replies to him, dropping a kiss down to the top of his head, “wanna head down there? say hi?”
“yes! dada carry me?” he looks up at his father, his bright eyes staring up at him in awe, the way he always looks at lando, his hero.
“of course, bubs, let’s go,” another kiss dropped to his son’s forehead and a slight nod to you, the family heads downstairs to be greeted by adam and cisca again. even though finn was still a little tired, the minute he saw his grandparents there was plenty of squirming in his dad’s arms before he was finally set down, sprinting towards them at full speed. after so many hugs and excitement, you catch you and your husband yawning at the same time, both laughing at each other once spotted.
“you both must be exhausted,” adam states, eyeing your appearance, “were you up the entire flight?”
“since three,” lando nods as adam’s eyes widen.
“why don’t you lie down for a while after breakfast,” cisca says, still holding onto her grandson, “we’ll catch up with finn, here,” she smiles in your direction and you give her a smile of thanks, proceeding to sit down at the table. you all share breakfast, stories, and laughs, watching your son ramble on and on to adam about how he is so excited to kart soon. lando emphasizes that it won’t be for a while, but finn doesn’t care, too excited to understand the correction. after the conversation dies down, you and your husband decide to excuse yourselves, ready for a much needed nap.
“oh my god,” lando groans as he collapses on the bed in front of him, “i am so fucking tired,”
“me too,” you mumble with him, joining him on the bed.
“why don’t we have a quick shower and then nap?” he suggests in your direction.
“i don’t think i can get up,” you laugh quietly in his direction.
“i don’t think i can either,” he chuckles with you, “how about a shower after we nap?”
“beautiful,” you sigh, rolling over slightly to be face to face with your husband, “and then we’ll have more energy for, other things,” you smile at him. he leans forward, catching your lips in a kiss, as you hum, loving the feeling after such a long day.
“later, baby,” you giggle into his mouth, “i’m falling asleep right now,”
“you’re right,” he laughs, “i am too,”
-
two hours later, a steamy shower and a nice nap, you and lando are getting ready to spend some more time with your son and his parents.
“what time are we meeting your mom tomorrow?” lando asks you as you both make your way outside, already hearing the sweet baby giggles approaching.
“five in the evening, she grabbed us some reservation in the city near my dad’s office,” you shrug, “so we’ll meet her and then make our way into town,”
“that sounds perfect,” lando nods, wrapping an arm around your shoulder and placing a gentle kiss to your forehead.
“MOMMA! DADA!” finn comes running at you both like a bullet, his knees and hands filled to the brim with mud, just as you’d hoped. living in monaco, in an apartment building, he didn’t have as much time playing outside as you’d hoped. both you and lando grew up in the country, and you’d wished for him to still have those experiences when he can.
“hi baby!” you laugh out, “are you having fun?”
“yes!” he giggles, holding onto your husband’s leg, “i play with dada’s old car!” you look off in the direction of adam, standing near lando’s old kart he had when he was finn’s age.
“how’d you get so dirty, bubs?” lando asks, looking down at his little twin caked with mud.
“i play in dirt,” finn shrugs, beginning to head back over to his grandfather.
“oh,” lando laughs, still holding onto you, “well that’s specific,” he jokes.
“that’s your son,” you shake your head with a laugh, moving towards cisca where she was sitting on a bench near the family.
you and her both watch as the boys run around with finn, hearing his giggles along with your own husband’s and father-in-laws. you can’t help but smile at the scene in front of you - lando attempting to instruct finn the right way to drive, showing him everything he knows. in return, your son is eyeing his father with focus, holding onto every word that drops from his mouth. you watch the duo, and relax, knowing that once baby girl norris was here, finn wouldn’t feel left out or forgotten, him and lando held such a special bond that couldn’t be broken.
Dead Disco - Epilogue
Dead Disco masterlist Ghost/Soap/female reader The end.
You’re having trouble breathing.
It doesn’t help that you’re hiding in the back, peeking around the corner every so often, trying to interpret everyone’s faces.
It’s terrifying. You’re terrified.
“Hello?” Lea calls from the other side of the hallway, hands turned upwards like she’s confused. “What are you doing?”
“Shhh!” You hiss, grabbing her by the wrist. “I’m hiding.”
“Okay… why are we hiding?”
“I can’t go out there.” The denial is steadfast, and she shakes her head.
“You have to. You’re the artist.”
“I know. And that’s why I can’t go. They’re all… looking at me. Judging me.”
“They’re appreciating you, love. They’re appreciating your work.” You shiver. It’s not just your work out there. It’s a collection of your pieces, moments and feelings worked out on canvas, agony and elation painted together into something called art.
“I can’t go out there.” You double down, and she rubs your shoulder sympathetically.
“You have to.”
It’s not so bad. You finally appear from the back, and the gallery host introduces you as the artist. Everyone claps.
As you make your rounds, you start to notice small stickers on the plaques, signifying the sale of a piece, and it warms you, happiness spreading from fingers to toes, fills you with pride.
People stop to talk to you, shake your hand, ask you about certain pieces. You find answering their questions is not as painful as you imagined, and their compliments make you feel lighter. You circle the room, finally coming to a stop in front of the biggest piece in the entire gallery.
At first glance, you think it’s hard to discern what’s really going on, but the longer you stare at it, the more the puzzle comes together. Or at least, you think so. You’ve been staring at it for four years.
It’s an expressionist piece, as all your paintings are, but this one is a touch abstract, stroked together in a way that seems almost unintentional.
It’s a painting of conflicting colors, some dark and moody, others bright. A push, and a pull. Three bodies lay on a bed, diaphragms torn open and bleeding. They're all reaching into each other's chests, blood coating their arms, curled up so tightly together it’s hard to discern where one ends and the other begins in some strokes.
There’s no emotion scrawled into their features, nothing to interpret. You did it intentionally, hoping to direct the focus to the piece as a whole. That’s the only way it works. The only way it makes sense.
“I like this one. It's intriguing. Feels sad, almost.” Someone says behind you, and you turn to see a tall man staring at it with a thoughtful gaze. Studying. “Will you tell me about it?”
Emotion clogs your throat. Your fingers trace over the plaque bearing its name.
Darling.
“It’s a love story.”
The bar stool is one of the spinning ones.
You keep turning around in it, in circles, laughing as Lea rolls her eyes. “Babe, you’re going to fall.” You tsk.
“You’re literally no fun.”
“We’re here celebrating you. I don’t want to be doing that in a hospital when you break a bone falling off that stool.” She tips her head towards the bartender. “Can we get another round please?”
“Sure thing.” You like this place. It’s got great natural light in the day, big, tall windows and sage green walls, gold accents littered throughout. It feels homey, and sweet.
“I think that went really well. How do you feel about it?”
How do you feel.
“I think so too. Once I got over the nerves I… I thought it was good.”
“You sold a lot of paintings.”
“I know.” You laugh. That’s the surprise of the night, if you’re being honest. The number of pieces you sold, to other galleries, to a museum.
A wild dream turned reality.
“You’re going to be a big-time fancy painter now, watch.”
“I’m sure that’s either a long way off, or not going to happen. Either way, I’m really happy. I’m really proud of myself.” The two of you sip your new drinks, and you twist again on the stool.
“Someone tried to buy Darling.” Lea says gently, eyes soft.
“I know.”
“You’re sure you didn’t want to sell it?” You shake your head. It might be your best, biggest piece, but it will never know a home other than yours. You started painting it four years ago, the first night you left her behind, and she’ll never belong to anyone, except you. She’s safe with you, protected by you, loved by you, like she always should have been.
Like she was, so reverently, by them.
You didn’t even want to display it tonight, if you’re being honest. But Lea convinced you, and you found it in yourself to be brave.
She lets you sit in your silence for a while, which you appreciate. She’s a true friend, one that doesn’t pressure you to do things or say things for the sake of them.
Usually.
“Well,” she clinks her glass against yours with a mischievous smile and then says much too loudly, loud enough faces and bodies turn towards yours in the bar, “here’s to my favorite painter and her first gallery showing.” Some people clap. Some people cheer. You glare at her. “What? Opposed to free drinks?” You spin on the stool again, smiling, and then catch a flash of someone walking towards a door, muscled shoulders-
And a mohawk.
Your heart trips over itself.
“I’ll be right back.” You tell Lea, who gives you a confused look, but you’re already moving through the room, unsteady on your heels.
You burst through the door into the cool air, autumn nipping at your exposed skin, and look up and down the street. Your pulse ricochets in your ears.
They’re a block away. The night is dark, and the streetlights are yellow, but you’d know them anywhere.
“Hey!” You yell. “Wait!” They turn, and you teeter towards them as fast as you can manage, startling to a stop a few feet before them.
Your heart hammers inside your chest. Standing here, staring at them, taking them in, soaking in it. They look good. Happy. Healthy. Johnny’s skin is glowing, Simon somehow seems bulkier than he did four years ago, but the weight suits him.
“Hi.” You breathe.
“Hi.” Johnny’s eyes sparkle, Simon’s lips turning up in a barely-there smile.
Words fail you. For the first time in a while, you don’t know what to say. Hundreds of thousands of things try to get free, but none of them make it, though your mouth opens. Nothing comes out.
“We saw yer name on the sign outside the gallery down the street earlier. Congratulations.”
“Thank you. It was… really neat.” Lame.
“It’s a big accomplishment. You must be very proud.” Johnny’s gaze never leave yours, and you nod.
“I am.” The three of you stand there, staring at one another.
“Well, we should get going.” Simon breaks first.
“Right. Of course. Uh, it was… it was good to see you.”
“Ye too.” You let them get half a block away, not even.
You know what you want to say. Delayed, held on your tongue too long in a wash of uncertainty, but it arises clear as day.
“Wait!” They turn, you take a deep breath. “Would you… would you maybe want to have dinner, or something, sometime? Catch up?”
“We’d love to.” It feels different now, but the good pieces, albeit changed, shifted, are still there.
“Great, it’s a… plan. To have dinner. Or something.” Johnny smiles, and Simon nods.
“It’s a plan. You’ll text us?”
“Yeah, I will.”
“See ye soon, then.”
“Okay. See you soon.”
As Steve walks into the grocery store he pulls his sunglasses off, only to put them back on again immediately. The lights of the store make the back of his eyes sting. Hungover from a bad headache, not that people here would care why. Whatever, is not like everyone already doesn’t think he’s an asshole. He doesn’t need to perform for anyone anymore.
A guy, singing to himself down one of the aisles peaks his attention, he’s tall and has long black hair and Steve belatedly remembers that he’s Jon’s friend from California.
“Argyle?” he asks, more to himself than to him, but Argyle turns and smiles at him as if they are old friends. He approaches and grabs his shoulder, shaking him a little.
“Oh! Hi Stevie!”
The confidence and attitude he carries himself with make Steve smile for some reason. It’s like he’s very sure of himself but in a nice way, not in a douchey way, like his high school buddies were. Although hearing someone call him “Stevie” reminds him of Tommy and a very different time and he can’t help but shrink inwards a little, “Oh no please, just Steve,” he says with an apologetic smile, pulling his sunglasses off again and placing them on his head. And because he doesn’t want Argyle to think he’s the douchebag, he explains further, “‘Stevie’ brings back bad memories,”
Argyle leans his head to the side with a pout but then smiles and squeezes Steve’s shoulder, “Dude, it’s fine, we can just make new ones, man! Better ones.”
Steve’s first reaction is to scoff. As if it were that easy… but then he thinks, hell, maybe it is. Maybe it is and it makes him smile. Argyle is way too outgoing for it to be comfortable for other people, it’s kind of ridiculous. For a second, he wonders if Jonathan found it jarring when he first met him. But Steve finds it refreshing. He shakes his head and smiles,
“So what were you looking for? Maybe I can help?” he offers.
Argyle turns in a circle, letting go of Steve’s shoulder and opening his arms wide, like he’s presenting the store to Steve, “See man, I'm mentally preparing myself for the munchies. I kind of wanted to make a pizza but like sweet? You get me?”
“Like a pie?” Steve chuckles.
“That! Sounds delicious, dude! But I don’t know how to make a pie,” Argyle laments, and Steve has no idea what possesses him to say,
“I do. You want help?”
Argyle stills his whole body and then shakes it before he starts snapping his fingers rapidly, startling Steve.
“Ok! Ok ok ok ok ok! Are you busy right now, man?”
“Just need to buy my groceries…” Steve says unable to keep the bewilderment off his expression.
“I’ll help you with that, we’ll buy things for the pie and then you invite me over, how’s that my dude?” Argyle says, no preambles, “I have a doobie and a lot of questions about all the shit that went down” he adds moving his eyebrows up and down quickly.
“What about Jon?” Steve can’t help but ask.
“Ah man, Jonny is with Nancy right now. Those two love birds had a lot to talk about, so I figured I’d make myself scarce.” Argyle answers, nodding apprehensively at his own statement.
Steve finds himself nodding along before saying, “Yeah, okay. Let’s do it!”
“Hell yeah, Stevie!” Argyle exclaims throwing his arms up and this time, Steve doesn’t cringe at the nickname.
After that, Argyle follows Steve through the store, helping him put things in the cart, making a few comments about differences in products or prices from California, but mostly staying out of the way and humming to himself. Steve asks him what he wants the pie to be (strawberries and chocolate) so he gets the ingredients for that too and then they are off.
When they get to his place, Steve tells him to get comfortable while he puts stuff away but Argyle helps him out before sitting on a tall stool in the kitchen and watching as Steve gets all the ingredients for the pie laid out.
“You know dude, you’re kind of exactly how I imagined you’d be,” Argyle tells him, gifting him another one of his smiles.
“Really?” Steve asks surprised.
“Jon told me all about you, man,” he answers nodding.
Steve raises an eyebrow at that, “And you still want to hang out with me?” he asks, half judgy, half defensive.
“Of course! Because you know what I got from it, dog?” Argyle asks and Steve just stares at him, afraid to know the answer.
“That you are a good person, Stevie! So you got off to a rocky start dude, so what? I think that makes you all the more interesting.”
Steve purses his lips in an attempt not to smile and raises an eyebrow.
“You went to hell and beyond for someone you didn’t even like! You’ve paid your dues and a half for whatever shit you did when you were younger and it could’ve made you bitter or closed off, man! But it didn’t. Not even the tiniest little bit. You barely know me and you invited me over and offered to bake pie for me, dude!”
Steve chuckles and shakes his head, “You got all that from what Jon told you? Also you invited yourself over,” he jokes.
Argyle laughs and then just shrugs, choosing to ignore Steve’s question about Jon.
He lets it go, and Argyle lights up the joint while he starts making the pie. After they both get a few hits, Argyle starts asking him about everything. ‘Start from the beginning’ he says.
Steve starts off a little stiff but gets looser with the weed and Argyle's presence and ends up telling him practically everything. Argyle asks a few questions every once in a while, sometimes about the process of making the pie. Sometimes some really intense shit like ‘and how did that make you feel?’, ‘did you think you were going to die?’ ‘were you scared?’.
Steve answers everything honestly, and it feels incredibly cathartic. His favorite questions are the ones about the pie though, and he smiles the biggest when Argyle says next time he’ll make one for him.
In turn, Steve asks him how he met Jon and chuckles when Argyle confirms his thoughts and tells him Jon didn’t like Argyle one bit at first.
“He said I was too happy. He didn’t trust it. Dude couldn’t trust anyone that hadn’t gone through some kind of shit in their lives” Argyle laughs, “But I can thaw even the coldest of hearts, man! As we got to know each other, he realized that I did have my own shit going on, but that happiness was a choice for me. Is who I had chosen to be.”
They talk about that too, how it wasn’t an easy choice. How some days it’s harder than others, to keep at it. How all the Upside Down shit affected him too.
By the time the pie is done and the joint is gone, Steve feels incredibly close to Argyle. Like they’ve been friends forever.
“So that’s pretty much it,” he says with a sigh after finishing a rant about why he doesn’t keep in touch with his high school buddies because Argyle had asked about them.
“Dude, you’ve been through so much,” he says solemnly.
“Yeah, you know that’s…. Life…” Steve says, shrugging. He doesn't know exactly what to say, suddenly feeling very awkward at being seen.
“Nah, Stevie. Me being kicked out of my house as soon as I was old enough to get a job ‘cause my parents couldn’t afford to keep feeding me and my younger siblings…. That’s life.” Argyle says seriously and quickly dismisses Steve's worried face adding, “It’s ok dude, they were great parents, they raised me well and I still go visit every other weekend” And then sighs and looks sternly at Steve again,
“Like I said, that’s life. What you’ve been through? Was hell”
“The kids had it worse- Ell-” Steve starts but Argyle interrupts him.
“That doesn’t erase what you've been through, Steve. It doesn’t make it less of a nightmare, man.” Steve just looks at Argyle as what he’s saying sinks in.
“And you got through it, dude. You came out the other side even a better person than when it started and like- you saved lives! You saved my best friend's life and like- like- you should be proud of yourself Stevie. I’m proud of you, man” he finishes with a carefree smile. As if he hadn’t just rocked the ground Steve was standing on. And he doesn't know if it’s the weed, or Argyle’s words, or both but Steve closes the distance between them and hugs him.
“Oh, hey! Hugs! I love hugs!” Argyle laughs, and hugs him back, taking it all in stride.
“Sorry,” Steve sniffles embarrassed, “I didn’t know I needed to hear that till you said it,” he croaks.
“Nah, it’s good. I got you” Argyle responds, patting his back lightly.
The hug is wonderful, friendly, warm, and just the right length but when he’s stepping away from Argyle, he hears a wary sound from the kitchen door.
“Uhm…hi”
It’s Eddie. Pocker-faced and cautious and Steve knows him well enough to know he’s freaking out inside.
“Oh, hi! Eddie! Good to see you, dude!” Argyle says good naturally and completely out of the loop. Steve smiles at him too and rubs his eyes with the back of his hand to dry them off a bit.
Whatever Eddie was thinking goes out the window when he looks closely at Steve and walks towards him, leaning closer to look him in the eye, “You okay?” he asks concerned.
Steve nods and Argyle clears his throat, “I’m going to… set the table for three,” he says, so maybe, not as out of the loop as Steve first thought.
Eddie completely ignores Argyle and grabs Steve’s face, his thumb caressing the underside of his eye, “You really ok?” he asks again and Steve chuckles,
“Yeah,” he answers with a smile.
Eddie hums and then looks back towards where Argyle is opening and closing cabinets in the dining room, looking for plates, “So… Should I be jealous?” he asks and Steve snorts amused,
“Of course not,” he says.
“You sure? ‘Cause maybe your type wasn’t curls and big eyes, maybe it was long hair and weed all along,” Eddie presses and Steve can tell he’s trying to make a joke out of it but is actually asking for real and Steve gets frankly, really annoyed.
“You know what? Maybe you should be jealous. Argy would never accuse me like that,” Inwardly he cringes at the nickname but it gets the point across. Eddie’s face falls and he looks devastated and terrified for a second before Steve smirks bitchily at him and then Eddie is frowning.
“Asshole” he murmurs, despite still holding Steve’s face as if it were precious and fragile.
Steve steps closer, placing his hands on Eddie’s waist, “You started it” he says as an apology. Kind of.
Eddie huffs and moves his hands to Steve shoulder’s, one thumb pressed to his pulse, “I regret it”
Steve hums, “Just for the record? A little possessiveness is kind of hot,” he says and pecks the tip of Eddie’s nose, “You questioning my feelings for you? Is not.” and then flicks it.
“Dully noted,” Eddie nods.
Steve looks him in the eye as he leans closer, kisses him fully in the mouth firmly, eyes open the whole time, and then whispers “Good boy,” before he steps away.
He smirks again seeing the full-body effect his little stunt has on Eddie. The way his eyelids fall, his mouth opens, the goosebumps on his arm hair, and the shiver that runs through his spine. He takes a moment to take it all in before he smiles, less predatory and more friendly. Eddie smiles back, and shakes his head amused, like he can't believe Steve is real. He does that a lot.
Steve then takes Eddie’s hand on his own and kisses his knuckles before moving past him and dragging him to the dining room with him,
“Now c’mon. Let’s go eat pie with my new friend”
