And, this is a 'Yes, and' site. Rather than go, 'Yes, but imagine', I've decided to make a separate post *giggles*

Bernard Dowd as Irene Adler.

For those who don't know, In the original books by Sir Conan, Irene Adler is a character that could match Sherlock's wit. I'm just going off on memory here, but some King was scared of being blackmailed because he was about to get married and he had a previous relationship with Irene. Irene also had pics of him and her together, and he was scared that this is the blackmail that could be used against him and stop the marriage. So, he calls Sherlock, Sherlock makes up plans and creates traps. And every single time, Irene manages to evade him, and cunningly trap him back. Sherlock never wins.

In the end, Sherlock realizes that the reason why Irene kept the photo was to avoid the King's wrath. She also goes tells him that she's about to be married, and the king really don't need to give a shit of where she's at.

As payment for all the hard work Sherlock had done, he asks the King for a picture of Irene, and the rest is history!! (BBC's Irene Adler is a Badass Dominatrix *swoons*)

SO----

Say Tim (Sherlock in this AU) and Kon (Watson in this au) are both adults in this non-superpowers AU. Kon, finding out that Tim had a horrible history with women as lovers, jokes that maybe Tim should try his hand with guys (you're not subtle Kon).

It's at this moment that Zoanne shows up, Tim's old high school sweetheart. Apparently, she's now married with a kid. However, a few months back, she and her husband were fighting with each other, badly. She ended up flirting with a co-worker of hers: Bernard Dowd.

Tim remembers Bernard. He hasn't seen him since their friend, and his late girlfriend, Darla died.

Apparently, Zoanne and Bernard's 'relationship' turned into something more, but her relationship with her husband had also been on the mend. She confessed to Bernard that she was married, and that she chooses to go back to her husband. That was the last she's seen of him.

Inwardly she was worried that their relationship might get outed to her husband, but she was also worried about where Bernard might be and how the man was because he also hadn't been showing up to work for a whole week.

Tim and Kon get on the case, they figure out what Bernard had been up to. They discover that Bernard got caught up with some pain cult, the Cult of Dionysus, and that's he's been an established member for years. Tim tries his utmost best to convince Bernard to leave.

To Bernard, the way Tim planned to catch him, laid traps for him, and even tried dismantling the cult, was just both funny and adorable. He made plans and traps of his own to thwart Tim.

It all ends the moment Bernard reveals that he's been dismantling the cult on his own from the inside.

Tim asks if he was doing this to take his mind off the heartbreak, and Bernard reveals that, 'no!' He's never had much more than a fling in his romantic pursuits, and Zoanne wasn't any different. The confession just so happened to coincide his plans of taking down the cult, but it also gave him a good reason to disappear and hide under the 'impression' of a heartbreak.

The past week had been the most fun Bernard had in years. He tells Tim to tell Zoanne that she doesn't need to worry about him saying anything, and that he wishes her and her family well.

Tim is amazed by Bernard's cunning, and wondered why he's never seen this when they were both in high school. The two had been close at the hip in school, and the only constant about Bernard that Tim always noticed was that Bernard had always been a flirt with the girls, and had even attempted to flirt with Tim's stepmom.

Bernard gets into Tim's space, like he usually does, and wraps an arm around Tim's shoulders, winking towards Kon, who was just aggressively confused on why he was getting a little bit angry.

Then, he gives Tim the number to his burner phone. Bernard says that he might not contact Tim, but he'd never miss a call should Tim end up using it. Tim keeps the number under a photo of them both in high school that was framed in his room.

Bernard quits his job, because although the cult in the city he lived in is dismantled, it doesn't mean they didn't exist in other places. It's not safe for him to stay in one place.

He bids Tim goodbye, and for the rest of the AU, his mind would sometimes come back to Bernard.

Weeks or months later, Jason (who I headcanon as Mycroft...) and Kon tells Tim that Bernard Dowd had been killed off in some foreign country after successfully taking down the whole cult. Tim emotionlessly sips his energy drink, while reminiscing in a flashback of going on a 'business trip', saving Bernard's life, but also killing off Bernard's 'identity'.

Somewhere out there, Alvin Draper is relieved of his international crimes and works professionally for the FBI.

What are the best rumors circulating out there about the cast of the non-spoiler variety (this is me showing restraint) ?

Oh, this is such a fertile ground, there is always something. Some just off the top of my head in no particular order with regards to any meat behind them:

Arthur: has "someone in every port"/has no one/has a star-crossed romance with someone in the capital, hence why he travels all the time (just depends on how they feel about him); is secretly Karon's son; is the artist behind the painting that was anonymously donated to a renowned collector in Rimehall.

Darla: had to do unsavory things (murder, robbery) to pay off the family's debts; has a mage lover; is ill-mannered and obnoxious; does absolutely nothing but tags along on horseback when she leaves Rimehall.

Gale: his eyes glow red all the time, "exactly like some demon"; Gideon left him instructions on how to take revenge (and that he can still communicate with his grandfather somehow); he has to be sent away because without usage, his power makes him go crazy, and when he does leave, he goes on killing sprees.

Ianthe is not on any socialite's map, but some short-lived rumors about her tend to be that she is a spirit appearing as human and trying to lure people into dangerous places.

Jax: they are much older than they look, unnaturally old; they are Y's court assassin; there have been approximately 17 attempts on their life, all of them thwarted; they were a peasant born in Daelan.

Yves/Yvette: that Ione (their mother) was furious at Gideon because he never cared for Y, and she assisted Karon in overthrowing the former Gray Regent out of revenge; they are a flighty lover; Gideon has left a stash of magical artifacts somewhere but never told them of its location; they speak four languages, including a dead one.

His dear Cecily has already gone, and the lamb with the heart of a wolf seems to know what has transpired to him. William sighs as he scans her room once more before stepping backward into a blood-soaked hallway, disappointed but not terribly surprised. The unseeing eyes of Cecily's former maids stared up at him as the fledgling traveled back to the main hall, where his new family circled familiar partygoers like sharks on land, his beloved sire giggling as she pulled and poked whoever was closest.

"W-William, please, call them off." One begged, a former friend who had laughed and jeered that fateful night, trembling like a leaf when William vaulted over the upper railing with ease, landing with a thud mere feet away.

"Now, why would I do that?"

"Show them your pretty face~" Drusilla cooed, appearing beside William as he dragged the beggar closer to him with a grin. The man watched as William's face changed to that of a demon, letting out a strangled scream before fangs dug into his neck, draining him dry in a matter of minutes. The thrill of the kill made William feel like he could take on the world as he dropped the corpse, the fear rolling off the people before him so damn delicious as he looked for the next one to kill. A maid with brown hair is the one he lands on, memories of her laughing and mocking his name flashing through his mind like lightning, and she lets out a terrified noise when Darla appears behind her and grabs her arm.

"Have fun, little pet, but hurry; we're quite hungry." Darla purred as she dropped the woman to her knees before the newest addition to the Whirlwind; William was too focused on the woman in front of him to notice the proud smile on her lips. "They're always so eager aren't they?"

"Aye, it's funny." Angelus purrs from his seat on a plush couch, patient as he watches William pull out something from his pocket. "Come girls, our boy is about to have his fun."

"Oh, Daddy, it's wonderful~!" Drusilla hummed as she crossed the floor, kneeling at Angelus' feet, while Darla sat at his side, looking amused. The three watched William circle the woman who begged for her life, her hands clasped as if in prayer, when he stopped right in front of her with a grin.

The screams don't mask the cracking of bone as William drives a rail spike through the woman's forehead, driving it in with his thumb until it's fully embedded in her skull. Drusilla begins to laugh as her childe reveals more rail spikes in his hands, flinging himself into the rounded-up humans as they try to run for their lives, the older vampires doing little more than keeping everyone in the house as William went on his spree. He's just killed another by driving spikes into the man's eyes when the sound slowly fades, the man staying upright instead of toppling over.

Was it worth it?

William blinked, pulling back with a cautious growl. He jumped when a hand landed on his shoulder, a woman with her snapped neck locked her head at an unnatural angle, staring at him with a grin.

Did it make you a better hunter, killing us like pigs in a pen?

'Wait -" Another set of hands grip one of his legs, another person he'd killed in his frenzy looking up with eyes he'd gouged out.

We had families, lovers, and you took us from them !

"This isn't happening; you can't—" A pair of hands wrap around his throat, and William is eye to eye with an old friend he'd forgotten had been there. The other pulls out a rail spike lodged in his temple with a lopsided grin, raising his arm and bringing the spike right for William's wide eyes.

Modern Day

The first thing Spike is aware of is that he's falling, his body hitting a carpeted surface with a thud. He takes in great lungfuls of air and scans the area around him, curling in on himself a little as gratefully, no one is nearby. He can still smell the blood and the fear from his dream, or was it a memory? It took longer than Spike wanted to admit to realize he wasn't back in Cecily's home but rather some strange hotel room he was unfamiliar with, the vampire slowly moving up and onto his feet. He's fed at some point, the black pinpricks that dotted his vision lately barely visible as Spike straightens, a familiar taste he can't name still lingering on his tongue. The sun is on its last legs before setting for the day, Spike is able to peek out at a city that is as familiar as it is lost to him, naming a jumbled mess in his mind as he stares at a rooftop before pulling the curtain closed. He makes it to some living room before the voices rush over him again, the man falling to his knees as he presses his hands over his ears, tears threatening to fall as they scream at him.

"I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry." The mantra falls to deaf ears as Spike curls in on himself, bile threatening to force its way out of his throat when suddenly, salvation arrives. A gentle hand rests itself on Spike's back, slowly running up and down in a comforting gesture, the voices seeming to realize Spike was no longer alone and fading back to that silence that settled in Spike's bones. He crouches like that for a time, letting the comforting touch make the world stop for as long as it could, eventually moving so he was on his knees.

Is it going to burn?

"Are you alright?" This voice he knows, one that usually meant pain or a general bad time, but soft in a way he couldn't recall ever hearing before. Spike wants to ask, ask so many questions, but finds the words shrivel up and die in his throat, so he remains silent as he stares at the floor. He hears the other adjust before going still once more, sitting beside him Spike realizes, before it fills the air.

Blood, oh he was so hungry. "You've been asleep for a while, you must be hungry." Spike feels his face shift as he turns, golden eyes meeting dark hazel before Spike looks him over, an arm extended with its wrist dripping with blood.

"I'm allowed?"

"As much as you need." The offer should be raising his hackles, but Spike reaches forward to grab his arm, fangs extending and piercing the wound with a quiet growl. Angelus had never shared his blood with anyone besides Darla on the regular, Drusilla when she sired, and Spike once after he'd been brutally attacked defending their ladies.

He'd thrummed with power for almost a week after that, hoping he'd taste it again one day.

Yet here he was, drinking deep from his grandsire like he was the last source of blood in the world, waiting for some pain from taking something he bloody well didn't deserve, for the familiar Angelus growl before he's tossed out of the closest window. No, Angel encourages him, only moving so Spike can sag against him, his free hand resting on the back of his neck as Spike drinks.

YOU DON'T DESERVE TO BE CONTENT

Angel jumps when Spike rockets back and away from him, blue eyes flashing wildly as he scrambles away until he hits the back of a couch, his entire body trembling as he clamps a hand over his bloodstained mouth. They've come back, and he can see bodies with missing limbs and others who are merely skeletons all over them, dead by his greedy hands, and he cowers.

The Slayer of Slayers, trembling in fear as his soul turns on him with the anger of thousands.

"They're not there." Angel appears, placing himself between Spike and all those who want to harm him. Those dark eyes that no longer held malice kept Spike's frantic gaze, and the bigger figure slowly moved closer until he put his arms around Spike protectively.

"I killed them all." He whimpers, clinging to the vessel of safety before him. "I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry, so very very sorry..."

"I know you are." Angel carefully slips an arm under Spike's knees, easily hoisting the man up and into his arms. "You're okay."

"It'll never be alright, never." Spike trembles as they walk through his former victims, out of the room he'd been in and down an aged hallway, where the ghosts don't seem to follow. Angel takes him to his room; the information pokes at Spike's addled brain, the suite almost a mirror image of his own with additions, like floor-to-ceiling bookshelves crammed full of what had to be hundreds of books. They all smell of old age, along with a scent Spike is not familiar with, other things like a motorcycle jacket and intricate dagger on a coffee table all covered with it as he's set down on a plush couch. "Sire?"

"I'm in the middle of work, and left you alone too long." Angel merely replies, looking into those exhausted blue eyes. "Are you still hungry?"

"Yes, but I dare not feed."

"You need to." Blue eyes flicker around the suite, looking for some hidden danger before his face shifts. "Good." Grabbing the book he'd been rifling through, Angel sits on the couch and holds out his wrist once again, his childe latching on without prompting. He gets through a few pages before Spike withdraws, scooting to the furthest spot on the couch before he hugs his legs to his chest, just watching the elder with a neutral expression. Angel knows he's curious as he is wary, though judging by the glaze overtaking his eyes, Spike was losing control of the present and slipping to wherever his mind decided was most important. The muttering starts up when Spike rests his forehead on his knees, the variety of languages he'd learned over the years slipping in and out without his conscious thought like they had two days prior in the foyer. Angel continues his work, noting a few things on paper for his client, while Spike's muttering fills the air, and he glances over when he finally stops talking.

He's asleep, curled on his side with his vampiric face predominant, and Angel shakes off his coat to drape it over the sleeping man. It's how Wesley finds them when he trudges into the room after a long reconnaissance mission some hours later, freezing by the front door with a slightly panicked look.

"Sorry, I got caught up in work, and he woke up." Angel gave a small smile as he stood, Spike not reacting as Wesley cautiously heads for the kitchen.

"Is he alright?" Seeing the larger-than-life vampire so small was strange, almost like a child under Angel's coat.

"No." Wesley had known Angel long enough to know when he was biting back some particularly powerful emotions, but he doesn't push. "Not sure how long he'll sleep this time."

"Mhm, two days was a surprise." Wesley pops his dinner into the microwave, leaning against the counter with a stretch. "Do you think he'd mind company?"

"Company?" Wesley couldn't help the small smile that graced his face at those big, confused eyes, motioning with his index finger for Angel to join him.

"Yes, whenever you're out, would it be wise to have someone with him? While I doubt he'd make it outside, having him wander the halls of an unfamiliar building may not help his healing process." Angel moves closer to the other, drawing Wesley into a deep kiss as the question turns in his mind.

"Maybe, at least after we get his hunger sated," Angel replied when they parted, brushing a hand against Wes's flushed cheek with his smile. "I'm not sure how long he's gone without, and he may unintentionally hurt one of you."

"T-That is a wise idea." Wesley cleared his throat, the ding of the microwave breaking the two fully apart. "Do you still want to help finish this case, or help him?"

"I can do both, did you end up tracking down the target?"

"I did, across the city in the warehouse district." Wesley nodded, shifting into investigator mode as he pulled out a city map from inside his coat, using the kitchen counter as a surface to point out what he'd seen to Angel. When it's decided where Angel is going to go, the vampire turns to check on Spike and moves him back into his suite, only to find the couch empty and the door to their room wide open.

"You've got to be kidding me!"

Angel's coat is like a set of armor, Spike thinks to himself, as he wanders the seemingly neverending hallways. No ghosts have snuck up on him now, and no screaming as he holds the leather tight around himself as if knowing the coat belonged to the great forehead himself.

Oh, that was rude, wasn't it?

He's debating whether or not his mental insult was rude when a nervous squeak stops him; Spike sniffs the air before turning to his right, spotting a door that wasn't quite closed all the way. Big eyes are watching him with a mixture of emotions he can't place, and he looks at them until the door slowly cracks open further, revealing a rather small woman. She's got slightly wet long brown hair in a messy bun, oversized glasses that seem to make her even smaller, and is clad in a plain set of pj's with some essentials bag clutched in her hands.

"Y-You're Spike." Her voice is taut with anxiety, but the undercurrent is pure curiosity, and the scientist watches the vampire tilt his head a little bit before he starts giggling.

"That's the question innit?"

"Oh...w-well, if you're not Spike, t-then who are you?" Blue eyes fill with confusion, and she watches Spike giggle to himself again after a moment.

"Dunno. Who are you?"

"I'm Fred, Fred Burkle."

"Fred Fred Burkle? Huh."

"N-No, just one Fred." Spike raises his scarred eyebrow but says nothing else as she slowly exits the bathroom she'd been using.

"What is one Fred doing?" His voice has suddenly lost its Cockney accent, and the Texan has to bite back a squeak.

"M-My shower is broken, so I was usin' this one. I'm gonna go and watch somethin', and then, uh, sleep?" Spike seems to have trouble following what she's said, and despite knowing he wasn't exactly all there, she holds out her hand. "You look a little lonely. Do you want to join me?"

"A Lady offering a hand for a Monster?" Spike looks away from her, crouching down in the middle of the floor with a huff. "She deserves to be safe, not in danger, not with me, yet her hand holds in the air..."

"I don't think you're so scary." Fred kneels down, wondering if he was even registering her presence. "Never been called a lady before, makes me feel all fancy."

"You are a lovely one, Miss." The soft voice is back, those eyes less piercing and more bashful if she had to say. "I do not understand why no one has said that to you."

"Well, I-I have been gone a real long time, but you can i-if you'd like. Get me all caught up and such." She smiles, offering her hand once more to be accepted this time, bringing Spike back up on his feet. His arm shifts so it's bent 90 degrees, and she links her arm with his before leading Spike to her room. Despite hearing he was supposed to be out of his mind, Spike is awfully quiet as he escorts her down the hall, sometimes muttering something about dresses that Fred can't catch. He does pause for a moment when she opens her door, but the flash of a smile has him following without complaint into a homemade from merging two regular hotel rooms into one massive one.

"Um, do you watch Passions?" That bashful look fades as Spike blinks at her, her anxiety melting when he nods. "Oh great! N-No one else here really does."

"Their loss." The Cockney returned as she headed for her couch, scooping some clothes off and out of the way so he could sit beside her. "I am a bit behind."

"Well, I can tell you everything you've missed." There's a flash of a smirk, but it's gone before she can fully look over.

"Ta, pet."

Spike does try to watch; the comforting and familiar show a great balm on his frayed nerves, but he's asleep before they get through the episode, once again burrowed under Angel's coat. Fred carefully gets up and grabs one of her favorite blankets, leaving only his face exposed as she tucks him in before returning to her show, a bit giddy that he's been so sweet to her. She's just getting to a good part when there's a polite but urgent knock on her door; Fred quickly gets up and goes to answer it before the noise could wake Spike, coming face to face with a slightly nervous-looking Angel.

"Hey Fred, I know it's late, but have you seen Spike?"

"Mhm! He's asleep on my couch, actually!" Angel stared at her with a mixture of exasperation and relief, taking a deep breath and exhaling. "He seemed a little lost, so I brought him here to watch Passions, t-though he wasn't awake long."

"He's going to be sleeping a lot, that's okay." Angel glanced at his watch with a sigh. "If I left some of my blood with you, do you think you could let him crash until I get back? I don't think he'll be too hungry, but having some in case is good."

"O-Oh, sure!" She should be surprised he already had a bag ready, feeling a little wigged out. It was warm when she took it, but she tried not to let it show.

"If you need anything, call me okay?"

"Sure thing boss." With a relieved smile, Angel was gone, Fred closed the door and turned to see Spike was still in his cocoon, figuratively dead to the world as the TV droned on. The blood is left in the kitchen in a bowl, Fred washes her hands before she rejoins Spike on the couch, newly acquired popcorn her snack of choice as she catches a re-run of another show. Every so often she'd look over at the sleeping man, her curiosity slowly growing until she moved a little closer, pulling the blanket back to study his face. Angel was pale, but Spike was even more so, the errant thought of him being lost under the snow making her giggle a little before she put her hand over her mouth to muffle the noise. She frowns when she realizes how gaunt he is, or at least she thinks he is, her vampire knowledge was still on the "fill the first page of a journal" step, but she'd also been that way for five years before, so someone had to be right here.

"You poor thing, probably could drain a cow and still be hungry or somethin'." She whispered, using one finger to move some errant curls from his face. "But don't you worry, Angel is awful good at gettin' blood like, all the time, so you won't be hungry here." Spike doesn't react to her touch, and after waiting for a little while, she gets off the couch and disappears further into her room, returning with a small comb and a chair. She sets it beside the arm of the couch that was Spike's current pillow, and after fussing over where to begin, she starts to go after the multiple tangles she can see in his slightly greasy hair. A tune she couldn't name dances in her mind before she started humming, carefully shifting Spike's head so she could access some more knots with her comb. "There we are, all nice and smooth, and tangle free!"

"Mhm...thanks, luv." Fred jumped at the sleepy response, gently smacking the top of his head.

"Why wasn't that nice, scarin' me like that?" she huffed. Spike chuckled to himself before burrowing further into the blanket.

"Felt nice...liked it." Melting a little at how tired he sounded, Fred gently pat the top of his head in apology.

"Well, you get on sleepin', and I'll be on my bed." The vampire makes some vague noise, and Fred smiles to herself before clicking off the lights on the way to her bed.

He was such a sweetheart.

Lulu was a young orphan boy abandoned by his birth parents at age 2 and left at this very poor orphanage to rot basically and years go by lulu looks very feminine was very much confused for a girl years had gone by and Lulu reached the age of 5 years old when he was adopted by these two Rich couple Mrs Darla and Mr Dawson and the orphanage was too cheap to keep a record of what gender or background of the children so all of the children everyone was pretty much file less this in that orphanage and his adopt parents who are using him to make sure that their status looks good with the news in present all that they had originally wanted a girl and they had assumed that's what Lulu was but when they he was 8 they had realized he was a boy and not a girl they began mistreating him by abusing him almost daily beatings or ripping apart his own limbs and beating him almost ending his life many times his adopted parents were never merciful with him and the maids were too afraid to disobey the masters of the house only one made used to help him and they were the one who taught him how to sew his limp back on the maid's name was Clara she was an old woman of about 62 years old Lulu had been traumatized completely but the day after Clara had died by the time Lulu had turned about 8 years old Lulu was left to fend for themselves at the age of 14 is when he ran away from home and had decided to live on the streets until he could get on his own feet by the time Lulu had turned about 16 with the time he has joined the studio and was cleaned up nicely and had his own apartment it was small and crayons but decent enough to live in and by the time they had met op Tom was by the time they were 19 years old

They're always anxious and stuttering they cry very easily when yelled at or at the smallest things they're extremely shy and frightful and if any of their limbs fall off they will scream and go into panic mode since childhood was very bloody and graphic

But once they made it to the studio and began their new life as an actor with their lover by their side making them feel safe with his still haven't told their lover op tom for about their backstory yet but someday they'll work up the courage to explain everything and share every detail

(SORRY Julie, you always seem to be the villain in these AUs, but enn here we go, also her Chracter is aged down to be a child.)

🌈 America's favorite child actress, "adorable" , "innocent " and "lover of puppets". No one is loved more the Julie in Hollywood.

🌈 But really she is not any of the above, devious, bratty, spoiled, controlling are better words to describe her. Not that it matters, she has everyone working in Hollywood wrapped around her little finger.

🌈 She is not easy to work with, not that it matters. When every one of her flims are five stars, she pretty much knows she can act however she wants.

🌈 For her next movie, she has agreed to star in a movie, that also star Puppets as side Chracters, anything to make her look good and help the "little people ".

🌈should be clear, SHE HATES PUPPETS.

🏡 The real force behind Julie, larger then life I am not even sure Home is human.

🏡 Butler, driver, manger and bodyguard, Home does it all for Julie. Is why no one crosses her either.

Howdy Pillar as Woolie

(Another age change, an age down. In the flim Woolie was one of the older characters, for thie AU I am keeping all the puppets close to each other in age. Howdy is is late 20s early 30s at most. )

🐛 Howdy is a talented piano player as well in writing music. He wants nothing more then his music to be heard in a flim.

🐛 Unfortunately for poor Howdy, his role is be used for the flim's studio logo. ( Caterpillar pictures: Where we make a flim inch by inch). Not the role he wanted, but at least he has a trailer on the studio where he lives.

🐛 He spends every night playing his music in the studio lot, when everyone is gone. This is when he meets Wally who overheard his music one night. He is the first who drops the harsh truth on Wally on who Hollywood wants in their films and ite not them.

🐛 Still it did not take long for Wally to give him hope, and join in with Wally and Barnaby to chase their goals.

give me back my girlhood / it was mine first › los angeles.

pre - sunnydale buffy. living in la, attending hemery high school. she's popular, she's a cheerleader, she's everything she has always wanted to be. she is the quintessential valley girl. her parents are together, even if they do argue all the time. this is the time in her life that she will constantly refer back to seasons and seasons later ... her girlhood, the thing that is torn from her. her innocence.

she then becomes the vampire slayer.

in every generation there is a chosen one. she alone will stand against the vampires, the demons, and the forces of darkness. she is the slayer.

this verse will be broken up into two parts.

part i - as innocence; the period before becoming the slayer part ii - as the reckoning; she is told one day on the steps of hemery high that she is the chosen one - that she must defeat vampires; slay them ! this is her destiny. she is instilled with what can only be explained as superpowers ! she's faster and stronger than normal girls. her nights of studying long gone as she takes up nights of slaying vampires in cemeteries. school stops mattering, friends turn away from her, and then one day, there is an incident. she accidentally burns down hemery high's gym and is expelled. her and her mother, joyce summers, move to sunnydale california. the beginning of the end

i'm sixteen years old / i don't wanna die › season one.

after her expulsion from hemery high, buffy thinks this will be her chance to get away. no more slayer responsibilities. her move to sunnydale is a blessing in disguise. until she meets sunnydale high's librarian - rupert giles; who also just so happens to be her watcher and it is solidified that not only is she the vampire slayer, but she is now in a town full of vampires, demons, and other forces of darkness. things which she is responsible to take care of, for the better of society. a girl of sixteen !

key events for this verse

she meets the core of the scooby gang; willow rosenberg, and xander harris who become and stay her best friends until the end of the show. as well as other important characters, such as cordelia chase, who becomes a very significant figure in her life.

the relationship with her watcher giles begins. their relationship can be described as very father/daughter-esque but also has tumultuous ups and downs; especially in later seasons ( but also in early seasons tbh )

she meets angel ! the vampire who is cursed with a soul ( formerly known as angelus ! ) and she develops a crush on him which eventually turns into her very first serious relationship <3

she learns that sunnydale is situated atop of a 'hellmouth'; she faces multiple different vampires, including a member of the fanged four and angelus' sire - darla !! who is also his former lover. ( he does eventually kill darla during this season )

the major threat of the season however, is the master, who is an ancient and especially threatening vampire, who is trapped underground in the middle of the hellmouth. buffy defeats him with the help of the scoobies, but not without officially dying first. ( she is drowned by the master, and does die for like two minutes before xander harris is able to give her mouth to mouth and save her ! yay xander )

verse. you only get a few more candles › season two.

season two is where things really start to get fun and buffy, as a show, starts to understand what it is really about. buffy is seventeen, now and a junior at sunnydale high. she's deep in her relationship with angel. she passes time by trying to do her best in school, training with giles, as well as going to the bronze for a bit of r&r every now and again ( a lot ! ) all while fighting the forces of evil!

key events for this verse

iconic vampire couple spike <3 & drusilla <3 enter and begin to wreak havoc in sunnydale! they are established as the 'big bads' of the season.

due to buffy's brief death in season one, a new slayer named kendra is introduced ! we love kendra so much

xander and cordelia start dating which causes cordelia to become one of the scoobies, thus growing closer to buffy by association.

oz osbourne is introduced, a senior and later revealed as a werewolf. he begins dating willow and becomes a scooby !!

willow begins to dabble in magic !

jenny calendar, the computer teacher at sunnydale, starts a romantic relationship with giles & we learn that actually ( lots of retconning goes on ) jenny is romani, her true identity is janna of the kalderash, the same people who cursed angelus and gave him his soul back - making him angel ( and if you choose to watch btvs just know that there are a lot of racist elements in this, and slurs are used very frequently, and it's disgusting. )

in s2ep14 'innocence' buffy and angel have just had sex ! yeehaw, buffy loses her virginity. but alas, angel experiences a true moment of happiness ( yeah. ejaculation jdfkjdkf ) and the curse is lifted, he becomes angelus once more; the notorious, blood sucking, evil vampire. which sucks for buffy bc he then starts to treat her like shit !!! it's all a very weird joss whedon metaphor for men pretending they like you so that they can sleep with you, and then change completely right afterwards. blah blah blah. it is deeply traumatizing for buffy!

angelus joins spike and drusilla to destroy the world ! the fanged four is 3/4ths reunited and hell is unleashed upon everyone. angelus kills lots of innocents, including jenny calendar. drusilla kills kendra. ( TRAGIC AND I HATE IT !! btvs stop killing off woc challenge ) and buffy, in the end, teams up with the scoobies + spike ( yes SPIKE ! the big bad ! ) and sends angelus / angel, the man she is in love with ! into a hell dimension, never to be seen again. very traumaizing again, for buffy.

buffy also comes out to her mother this season as a vampire slayer, and joyce doesn't take it well. ( yes more metaphors ) so ... buffy leaves sunnydale.

verse. a begging to be believed › season three.

terrible awful things happened to buffy in season two like what the hell. so she disappears to la for the summer, bc isolation is how she deals with trauma hello ! eventually she does go back to sunnydale and back to the scoobies and is now eighteen, and a senior. yay ! graduation time !!

key events for this verse !

due to deplorable writing choices, kendra's tragic and unjust death means a new slayer is in town. enter faith lehane !!! buffy's shadow, a girl just a bit younger than her, a very important part of buffy, someone who makes her ... her <3 initially, buffy can't help but be a little bit jealous over faith. her friends love her instantly, she's cool and calm and wears a lot of leather, and she's kind of hot ? oops. ... but yeah, she's in sunnydale !! and they start another very tumultuous friendship .. one that starts off on jealousy, later buffy warms up to her and they have some good Bad Girl times ! until faith kills a man ! and suddenly buffy has to think about what it means to be a slayer, slayers aren't killers, am i bad too ? etc.

angel mysteriously comes back from the hell dimension lmao !!! but he's fucked in the head a bit, ok sorry wait. angel is not the same angel that she knew when she fell in love with him i guess ? bc he suffered for who knows how long in the hell dimension that she was forced to send him to. but now he's back, and she helps him regain his sanity and strength. they kind of start their relationship back up again, but by the end of the season, they break up and go their separate ways.

anyanka the vengeance demon enters ! we love her we love herrrr. she loses her vengeance demon powers tho very quickly and becomes a normal girl ! and goes to the prom with xander

buffy turns eighteen and the watcher's council basically has giles perform this ritual called tento di cruciamentum and it's the beginning of buffy and giles' decline. :( giles is fired from the watcher's council & is replaced by new watcher wesley wyndam pryce !!! oh dear wes <3 also buffy decides fuck the watcher's council and stops caring about them ! good for her !

enter big bad of the season, the mayor !! who is on a mission to ascension or becoming a "pure demon" and with faith on his side, he kind of does it ! but buffy and the scoobies and also the sunnydale class of '99 stop him ! yay ! oh the high school gets blown up lol

buffy stabs faith and puts her into a coma eek

angel and cordelia officially leave sunnydale to go start their spinoff show in los angeles ! good for them :) <3 wesley even joins them a lil bit later ! and angel the series ensues. we'll see angel again tho

verse. she is as destructive as a coriolis storm › season four.

it's the college season! buffy and willow both are attending UC sunnydale yay ! buffy's still kind of cut up about her breakup with angel, but its ok and she's healing <3 she meets some cool people. she loses her soul once ! phew. oh and there's this whole thing called the initiative which kind of sucks :/ but lets get into it

buffy's a freshman, nineteen, she likes psychology with professor walsh and her TA riley finn. she's good at it too ! actually, given the opportunity - she's pretty good at school. which is a cool realization that she has.

anya and xander start officially ? dating. willow and oz break up and oz leaves :( but that's okay bc willow's a lesbian and she meets tara who is also a witch !!! and more scoobies are added to the roster!

spike comes back lmaoooo. and uh, a chip is implanted in his head, and it prevents him from harming humans by giving him big bad migraines. but do not fear ! because he can still harm demons! which causes him to join the scoobies! yay !

oh and its put there by "the initiative" which is ( wikipedia ) "a top-secret military installation based beneath the uc sunnydale campus" they experiment on/kill demons idk. riley finn is like the main bunker boy and professor walsh also runs the shit too. the big bad this season is a guy/demon - man made The Creature from frankenstein like thing named adam and he's very smart or whtvr. it's a very uninteresting season overall lol

buffy and riley start dating and its um .. interesting. she definitely learns and realizes things

buffy and her friends defeat adam and the initiative is shut down and buffy starts thinking about the lineage of slayers, a perfect transition into season 5

verse. death is close / but so is life › season five.

DEATH IS YOUR GIFT ! or probably the best season of buffy.

your gaslit into believing that buffy has had a sister named dawn for four seasons. and you believe it too, for like a second. we love dawnie <3 dawn is the most important person ever, actually.

big bad of the season "glory" enters. she's pretty, she has cute outfits, she's also a god ! and she shares a body with this guy named Ben. he's a nurse ! but again, glory is a god ... and she's searching for a key so that she can open a portal to her hell dimension. the problem is, if she gets the key and opens the portal, it essentially blurs the line between hell and earth and it will unleash hell onto earth ! so she really can't get the key

oh and the key is dawn. dawn is the key. she's energy that was made out of buffy and formed into her teenage sister. so yeah, she wasn't buffy's sister for her whole life, she's actually just existed for a few months ! and the fake memories the key makers planted into all of their brains, makes it kind of feel like she's been there forever. buffy loves her. dawn is her. they are the best sister duo relationship i have ever seen. i am very fond of them.

joyce ( buffy's mom ) dies of a brain aneurysm. it is ............... heartbreaking. it changes buffy's life. it changes buffy.

riley and buffy break up. spike realizes he is IN LOVEEEE with buffy. it's kind of iconic but im a little biased ngl. he also really ups the ante by protecting dawn and joyce a lot and buffy really is relying on him to protect her loved ones this season. also .. he kind of becomes one of her loved ones this season as well :')

glory kidnaps dawn and despite the scoobies efforts, dawn's blood opens up the portal, unleashing hell on earth. buffy sacrifices herself and dies and the portal closes. and buffy dies for the second and final time. ugh god. THE GIFT ! DEATH IS HER GIFT !

verse. life is pain / and life is suffering but my god / you're alive › season six.

my favorite season. season six u will always be famous

buffy's dead but not to worry, the scoobies (willow, xander, anya, and tara) are going to bring her back from whatever hell dimension she's in! don't worry! willow knows what she's doing and she won't come back wrong

they do it! but oops they think that they didn't do it and so buffy is forced to claw herself out of her grave. traumatizing

buffy is alive again, she's back and she's .. not wrong, but also .. she's not the buffy that the scoobies have known and loved all these years. ( to them ) and buffy's actually extremely depressed, empty, and feels very very wrong, ultimately; is suicidal. she was pulled out of heaven ! she has bills to pay, she needs to get a job, her mother is still dead, the soulless vampire is still in love with her, there's a very iconic musical episode where she almost basically attempts to off herself but spike is there to tell her that life is worth living, you have to keep on living SO ONE OF US IS LIVINNNNGGG!!!

giles leaves this season bc he thinks that buffy relies on him too much ? weird but ok.

buffy and spike start a 'sexual' relationship... i guess

their relationship is .... it's an incredibly interesting dynamic which explores the theme of the jungian shadow in depth. it's mutually toxic, but it also stands to represent a lot about buffy and spike's characters. there will be tons and tons of metas written about this whole relationship bc it literally is so......... it's just, it makes sense why it happens. but from a basic perspective, it's not something i support or condone. but it serves a very critical narrative purpose and it is pivotal to buffy's character and the way that i write her. also if u have zero basic media literacy, then it's just a toxic relationship. but it stands for so much more. spike is consistently there, someone who she confides in throughout the season. he is her anchor in a lot of ways. she starts having sex with him because she knows that he is in love with her, she feels safe around him, but she is also disgusted with herself bc that is her shadow. he has no soul and it reflects her emptiness and the void that she has felt since being brought back to life. like i said, very interesting dynamic that changes buffy as a character and honestly, helps in her journey to healing !!!

there is a spike and buffy scene in season 6 ep19 'seeing red' which i largely ignore. actually ! yeah .. i don't feel that it is canon. in fact, spike already knew that he wanted to get his soul back prior to /that/ interaction, and so for my portrayal, i look at it as ... he feels he's not a man and not a demon, he's not the man that he needs to be, for her, to be hers, and so based on their relationship throughout s6, he comes to the conclusion that he always had: he goes and he gets his soul back!

oh yeah ... and there's this trio of incels warren, jonothan, and andrew. they try to fuck up buffy's life in "comical" and silly ways. warren gets tired of being beat by buffy so he decides to shoot her. he also manages to kill tara, and this sets willow off and dark willow is unleashed !!!! but don't worry bc xander saves the day and buffy lives because tara dies. it's tragic and terrible

verse. i owe myself an apology › season seven.

bc buffy got resurrected last season, it caused an imbalance between good and evil and something called 'the first evil,' is the big bad of the season

it's killing potential slayers and plans to raise a huge army of these ancient vampires that are practically unkillable

the watcher's council is destroyed ! everybody clap

buffy keeps a whole group of potential slayers in her house to train and protect them. oh and she's working at the high school now as a guidance counselor

spike has his soul back which means buffy can heal and be okay, because he's not empty anymore and neither is she. lots of good moments this season for them. they're married actually.

everyone in sunnydale evacuates bc the hellmouth gets worse!

faith comes back to help buffy's cause <3

there's a preacher called caleb and he's a misogynist. he's safe guarding this weapon - it's a scythe. buffy gets it and kills him with it !

angel comes to sunnydale and gives buffy an amulet that is to be worn by a 'champion' meaning vampire with a soul. so she gives it to spike.

they go down into the hellmouth to fight the ancient vampires as a unit. willow does a spell and it unleashes the potential slayers powers. now there are lots and lots of slayers, and buffy is no longer the only one! she is not alone! she is free!

spike's amulet harnesses the power of the sun and it unleashes onto the vampires, saving the world but also sacrificing himself in the end. also - buffy tells him she loves him and for the first time since angel, she means it :') and then he dies haha !

from wikipedia : in the end "dawn asks, "what are we going to do now?" buffy slowly begins to enigmatically smile as she contemplates the future ahead of her, ending the series on a hopeful note." SHE IS FREEEEEEEEE

Sam and Max: Freelance Police: Tonight We Love Review (Comissioned by WeirdKev27)

Happy almost valentine's day you happy people! And for those who have a partner, it can be a warm time of love, recommetment and buying stuff. For those of us who haven't found someone or dont' like it's corprate nature it's a more frought time though and that's where some old friends come to the rescue.

Yes we're getting double sam and max this month and it won't be the last time as Kev has tenative plans to have me do more reviews of the two non game sam and max series: the original comics and of course the awesome cartoon sam and max freelance police: plopped onto fox kids and promptly treated like wet garbage, Freelance Police is still a treat to this day and having binged about half of it, I can say it captures the spirit of the franchise perfectly while adding it's own touches: the weapons are either bizzarely specific or entirely over the top to get around not being able to use guns, and it's perfectly enjoyable for both kids and adults, while the 11 minute pace of each cartoon helps keep the series manic energy up. In short it's one of the best adaptations of a comic/video game ever put to film and I badly wish we'd get another somewhere, as with a proper budget, time to develop and the freedom that comes with streaming there's no telling what we could get. But what we got was fantastic.

So this isn't my first review of the cartoon as i've covered both the friend for life as part of an april's fool house of mouse review, and likely will again as it's one of my faviorite episodes and has the red green show's Patrick McKenna as Norm, THE FRIIIENNND FORRRR LIFFFEEEE. I honestly wish like the Geek , who i'll get to, he'd been ported to the telltale games. Especailly after enduring the soda poppers.

Tonight We Love is one of two holiday specials Sam and Max did, the other being said christmas episode. And while the other had some sentiment along with the bloodshed, it's clear the writers didn't like Valentine's Day and knew sam and max, happily married they may be, wouldn't either, so instead our heroes are beach combing to avoid all that lovey dovey shit their not a fan of it. Honestly it's one of the few anti-valentine's day valentine's day episodes i've seen. Sure some specials may have characters against the holiday, but most at least at the core of it reinforce what it means. Sam and Max.. has the duo hate it, never change their mind about it and have the holiday be one big fat obstacle between them and their goal.

So what noble goal sends our heroes hurtling back into the city into the frenzy of lovers, dreamers and me? Why THE PRESIDENT OF COURSE. Well the commisioner anyway. I do love how they do the phone gag here as not only does the comissioner phone in via a shell, but when Max, whose ALREADY HOLDING IT tries to "I got it", Sam picks him up with the metal detector. Kev informed me that Max has a metal plate in his head that comes and goes as the plot needs it.

Anyways our heroes go to the Geek, aka Darla, aka a character I badly wish would come back next time they do something sam and max related. Darla serves the same roll as Bosco from the telltale games, being the team's arms dealer basically. The realtionships are radically diffrent though: Bosco simply sells stuff because that's his job and while he does seem to like the duo, keeps it mostly professional, which is sad as Sam sees him as a father figure. The two also annoy him at times.

In contrast while The Geek can be annoyed by her friends antics and them breaking her stuff, she can also both get in on it and clearly loves the guys. It feels like they split her into Bosco and Sybil for the series to have mor echaracters to interact with, but Darla herself still feels wholly unique. She's also a rare case of exectuive meddling remotely being a good thing: She was originally a fairly sterotypical nerdy boy, but execs wanted a female character, which I think worked out better as with the fo;rmer design the geek likely would've been more of a sterotypical nerd. With this the geek is mor ea modern nerd: snarky, but also plenty willing to goof off. She's also exactly the kind of straight man the two need: someone who will play along and be just as madcap as this world requires her, but who can also be frustrated with the two's stupidity and mayhem without feeling like two seperate people: she primarly gets mad when they break her stuff, which is fair, but is fine making said dangerous stuff for them and loves her surrogate dads.

Anyways this time she's made an artifical heart to the president, which max naturally inserts the obvious joke about. So our heroes stick it on the DeSoto, which is .. just fun to say. Try it.

Naturally this being an 11 minute cartoon not only do they play the timer for all it's worth.. but things quickly go wrong as after sticking it on the atnenna someone STEALS the DeSoto

So the rest of the episode is a madcap chase.. though not too hard at first as the Geek installed a tracking device that naturally goes "over here boneheads" over and over, which is both hilaroius and makes sense… I mean Max likes to play hide the desoto at least once a week and after that scuba diving fiasco with the mer people, he had to have some contegincey ready. Anyways they find the pompadoured desperado and his girlfriend woh have sotlen it to make out and give chase. If i'm not too descriptive.. ti's that ther'es only so much I can say.

At any rate our heroes loose them but find them at loveland, which is suprisingly not some sort of cult or some sort of christian super group done by ned flanders, but a love themed amusment park and pure hell for our heroes, including Max getting stuck in the tunnel of canodling. They eventually find our desperados and I love their explination "I didn't mean to steal your car it just looked stealable". and I also like how while Sam symptahize siwth them max.. tears them to shreds off screen. You crack me up little buddy.

At any rate our heroes get the heart to the president in time which is for his dog, valentine's day is saved.. and our heroes exit as only they know how.. in a hail of bullets after knocking the president over.

Tonight We Love is a fantastic special and if you haven't tried the Sam and Max Cartoon it's a great place to start that has the general formula, some great gags and a fun twisted take on valentine's day all in a tight 11 minutes. Open your heart and spleen to it this couples day and thanks for reading.

A gorgeous contemporary romance about two ex-best friends, Cass and Syd, on a life-altering road trip following the reunion tour of the Darlas—the band Cass’s mom was in when she died. Perfect for fans of Nina LaCour, Mary H.K. Choi, and Jandy Nelson.

After their high school graduation, former best friends Cass and Syd are gearing up for their futures. Cass has planned to go to college to become an engineer, while Syd—despite the fact that her family thinks she’s messed up her whole life—has lined up a sound internship at a historic music venue.

But Cass is keeping secrets. Though his dad has forbidden it, Cass has been playing music, taking trips to San Francisco BART stations to play and make money. Somehow, it’s become a way for Cass to connect with his mother—who was also a musician—who died in a drunk driving accident on the way back from a gig when he was one.

But after Syd catches Cass playing at the BART station, and Cass finds out his mom’s old band the Darlas is going on a reunion tour, everything changes. On impulse, Cass invites Syd to the first Darlas show, and without telling anyone, they make a break for it. Turning one show into a cross-country journey, the two former friends throw away all their plans for the future and embark on a life-altering road trip following the tour, keeping it a secret from their friends and family.

Along the way, they’ll untangle the messy threads of how they became “ex”-best friends, experience the power of nature and music, and decide what they really want their lives to be. Maybe, through it all, Cass and Syd can find a way back to each other, too.

my review:

The summary of This One’s For You first caught my eye. It sounded like a very heartfelt tale, and even though I’m not too into friends-to-lovers, estranged-friends-to-lovers is definitely more my speed. This One’s For You is a poignant tale of of two estranged best friends who haven’t spoken in two years and reunite for a spontaneous road trip, where they must learn to bridge the gap between them.

Cass and Sydney were once attached at the hip, but they haven’t spoken to each other in two years. Soon after their graduation, they’re both facing their futures: Cass, at college for engineering, and Syd, at a sound engineering internship. When she discovers that he’s been busking at the subway station, something starts between them again. Cass recently found out that his deceased mother’s band, the Darlas, is going on a reunion tour, and the two of them spontaneously decide to road trip and follow them.

I really enjoyed how Cass and Sydney were juxtaposed throughout the story. They simultaneously understand each other the most in each other’s lives yet are so fundamentally different. Cass is reserved and anxious to break any rules, while Syd is all about being impulsive and doing what she wants. The main reason they stopped being friends was that she felt that he abandoned her for “normal” friends while he was tired of her wanting to be the only person he could be friends with. Yet, at their core, it’s clear that both are lost and can help each other find themselves again.

Darla's got a lot of circumstantial evidence stacked up against her, but nothing concrete enough for Sapphire to feel comfortable passing judgement either way.

The biggest liars!

Darla, for starters. There's this quote from Julie that I can't find right now, but it implies that Angelus was both the first and last vampire Darla ever sired. She just saw Liam and was like, "Ooh - I'm gonna keep this one!"

And she did. She kept him for 150 years. Trained him up, sought out things to keep him entertained, stayed with him and made sure he wanted to stay with him. He offered her the world and a gorgeous face to look at, she chose him over her own sire.

Darla glows when she's around him. You can see the happiness radiate off her, she's practically giddy most of the time. Whether he's Liam, Angelus, Angel - all his many faces captivate her.

Their morals conflict too much for Darla to be with Angel, but she never really gives up on trying to get him back to "normal". She tries to get back together with him in China, she seeks him out in Sunnydale, and when she comes back to life it's getting Angelus back that she focuses on. Angel literally kills her and she doesn't want revenge, she just wants her boy.

Darla was born in America in the 1500s. By her death in 1609, she had no family or husband and had made a good living as a prostitute. This was a brutal, cruel time for everybody, most especially women. She learned to survive and thrive on her own, without apologies or regrets. With her last breaths, she greated the devil with a smile because even God had never shown her an ounce of care.

She had to be self-sufficient, cunning, and incredibly strong to get by. Nobody ever truly cared for her, so she had to double down in caring for herself. Allowing her feelings for others to distract her would have jeopardized both her independence and her safety. Romantic love was a frivolity, a luxury, something not all that big in her culture to begin with.

As a vampire, self-sufficiency and coldness was of even greater importance than when she was a human. It's a cutthroat world, especially as the Master's favored daughter. The reduced empathy and heightened sadism makes any kind of love less likely to occur. Love is also an easily exploitable weakness, to display it is to put a target on the back of your lover and on you.

It's unlikely Darla would even recognize what she feels for Angelus as love - she had never been shown it nor felt it herself. All she's seen labeled as "love" is people acting like idiots for their lover, putting each other at risk or being miserable and possessive.

So for her own relationship with Angelus, based on mutual enjoyment of each others' presence, where they prioritize fostering independence and strength in one another - why would she consider that love? Love is a silly, fluffy word for fluffy, silly people.

They shared dedication and loyalty, passion without obligation. They were together when they wanted to be, because they wanted to be. They had the freedom to seek out other partners when they felt like it, so when they slept together it was because they truly wanted each other. And if it so happened that for 150 years, they preferred one another? It's certainly not something so fickle as love motivating it.

They're just two people who were happier together than apart or with other people, who understood everything about each other, who fulfilled every one of each others needs. Nothing to do with love at all, nope.

Angelus was a similar case. Liam was a 26 year old fuckboy. Born into moderate wealth in the 1700s, his "love life" was likely focused on being pressured into marrying a woman he barely knows for the purposes of sustaining/increasing his family's wealth and status. His models for relationships were the business transaction of marriage and affairs that could ruin people's lives when taken too seriously. Examples of what we would consider to be "love" would be few and far between.

Marriage was another obligation Liam's family would have been attempting to impose on him. The women he slept with were an attempt to add excitement to a life that felt meaningless and empty to him. He likely never had a deep connection with any of them, so he too went into vampirism without ever loving or being loved (at least in a romantic sense).

Along comes Darla, who gives him everything he's ever craved out of life. It's in a twisted and fucked up way, sure - but that's not something that would register without a soul. In return, he offers her everything she ever wanted so long as she chooses to stay with him.

And she makes him about as happy as he makes her. In the first few seconds Liam sees Darla, he's as enchanted by her as she is with him. Angelus with Darla and Angelus without Darla are like night and day. And Angel? Just look at that joy and peace he exudes when he dreams of Darla, dreams where everything is just fine between them and she's at his side again.

And Darla does not recognize any of this as love, so Angelus doesn't either. Without souls, neither can fully understand, experience, or express the depth of their care for each other. They know they are not like those other couples, who carry on endlessly about their adoration. Who are possessive to the point where they torture themselves or constrain their partner. Who lay down their lives so the other one won't have to lift a finger to save their own. So it mustn't be love.

With souls, the horror of their relationship far outweighs any happiness it brought. If anything, the happiness adds to the horror. They've tortured, maimed, and murdered by each others sides, to please each other. They've indulged and encouraged all of each other's worst impulses. They've brutalized, betrayed, and killed each other. How could that ever be love?

And yet, we see how happy they make each other. We see how tortured both are when circumstances force them apart. They're incredibly in sync and know each other so deeply. If they're in the same state soul-wise, they'll end up together. If they're not, neither can be happy with the other and this will cause them both great pain.

This was a lot of words to say that it's insane to me how so many people:

Came away thinking either Darla or Angel are good authorities on the matter of their feelings for one another.

Believe none of what the show depicted was evidence of love.

They're edgy, emotionally constipated, traumatized idiots who fucking adored each other.

angel and darla make me slightly insane actually bc they're lying liars who lie and pretend they don't love eachother. Spike and Dru show up on screen declaring their undying devotion to eachother morticia and gomez-like every five minutes but angel and darla are like love? thats for idiots and children weve just been unquestioningly devoted to eachother for 150 years for realistic grown up reasons.

like angel very clearly loves darla so all consumingly that even once he has a soul he'd still willingly sacrifice his life for the person who in his own words "damned" him. and then in s3 she's like oh yeah I've never loved anything including you and he's like me too were vampires this is fine :) (lying)

and darlas just as bad like she's cutting about LA with dru acting like any old dumb buff guy could replace her darling boy who she was only ever using and absolutely never loved, when in the hundred years after he got his soul she clearly failed not only to replace him but to get over him the slightest bit at all.

when they're both evil they're like hahaha were too demonic for "feelings" and then when angel gets a soul they're both like oh you disgust me you never meant anything to me I'll kill you, and then for the briefest moment in ats where neither of them are evil they get like, five minutes of mutual understanding where they just sit in silence and Darla admits she can die now knowing that she was loved but she still won't admit she loves him back. crazy people.
