It Is As If You Were Making Love is a bizarre little game in which you move your computer’s slider to bring it to climax (after all those visits to PronHub it’s probably the least you can do for your computer!)

ok. I will admit I for a while I did think you were all being crazy. but I just rewatched "Do You Know What It Means To Be Loved By Death" and I am crazy now. "You felt freer to hold her hand in Paris, I wonder why that is?" followed by Daniel getting Armand hypnosis flashbacks, followed by Armand making unquestioned pronouncements on Alice's emotional state even though Armand was NOT there at the time and Alice is NOT here now? followed by several seconds of Assad Zaman making an enigmatic facial expression??? is actually making me sooo crazy. oh Armand for real BROKE broke that guy's mind, huh.

The reaction of show only fans is understandable and I do think it comes from this being their first time watching it all go down. I doubt many of them were expecting Claudia to make it out of season 2 and plenty had her cause of death spoiled, but it's a hard thing to actually watch especially if you're a fan of her character.
The show's framing of events is also a bit different than the book. It's a lot more focused on the relationships, so Armand and Lestat's respective involvement in the trial is given greater importance. The book was an exploration of grief and depression, the characters were just vehicles for that exploration. Armand's involvement in Claudia's death was incidental. The important thing was how Claudia's death impacted Louis, Armand was the tool used for that.
It's easier to move past a character's misdeeds when none of the other characters seem to care all that much. The show places greater emphasis on Armand's involvement and his lies, so viewers will be more invested in that aspect.
I wonder if theres a meaningful split of opinion between people who were familiar with the plot of interview with the vampire before they watched the show and those who went in blind when it comes to ascribing blame for Claudia's death. Just because I see a lot of people who are very concerned with whose fault it is and holding those characters accountable, which was never something which really stuck out to me as particularly important? But I also knew Claudia was going to die going into the show. Being mad at Armand or Lestat for her death feels like getting mad at Tybalt for killing Mercutio. Like yeah in universe its murder but I live in the real world and in the real world its a tragedy and Claudia was going to die no matter who did it. Anne Rice killed Claudia. It doesn't really matter what weapon she used. We can talk about blame for sure but "accountability" or "punishment" seem pointless to me. But maybe I'm just numb to it bc I knew it was coming, and if it took you by surprise you'd probably feel different.

Queen of the Damned is solid. The books after it is where things started to go downhill. Many people prefer TVL to QotD, but afaik the general consensus is Tale of the Body Thief being where the writing took a dive.
Even with that, there's plenty fans who found TotBT quite a fun little ride (myself included), even if the writing wasn't quite as strong as previous entries.

Okay so maybe I just don’t get it but ignoring the Anne Rice-typical concerns this is a good book. Does it get worse after part 1 or something? Because I’m having a great time. Dare I say a better time than with TVL. Why did y’all lead me to believe this was where her writing started to taper off ‘cause I’m scared to finish now.

You show up for your first day at Copyright-Free Magic School. As you're going through orientation, you're informed that all new students get a school-assigned familiar that they are responsible for housing and maintaining. The staff member assures you that your assigned familiar is appropriately chosen and reflects you in some way.
Spin this to find out yours. (Remember, you are responsible for maintaining this familiar in your dorm room.)

the thing about armand is that you are nothing bc he is immortal and extremely powerful. he might play with you but also he might throw you against the wall with mind powers bc you’re a bug.
unless you ruin his life!! in which case you’re his new dad/boyfriend/owner and he’s rewriting his identity to revolve around you. he’s a model because marius was an painter. he’s a cult leader because a cult killed marius. he’s a theatre director because the guy who broke up his cult is an actor. he’s in a toxic marriage because the guy who burned down his theatre is a grieving divorcee. and now daniel broke up his marriage.
