I'm excited to report that I have finished writing the second half of Chapter 1, and it is now fully playtestable! ✊😌 I'm quite happy with how much it reveals and teases, and that I held out against the itch to drop a smaller but earlier update.

What still remains is, of course, a round or two of editing, shuffling some scenes around, hunting for typos and any broken paths, adding stat changes, and fixing a few long-standing issues with the code.

I estimate that I can wrap up the above to release Chapter 1 p.2 (and the prologue edits) in August, so keep an eye on the blog for the announcement/update drop. It's been brewing for so long, I kinda feel like posting it as soon as it's ready this time 😅

Middle-ish of the update check-in:

I've recently finished a sprawling scene and still reeling from having to track all the dangling ends and marking all the "come back and fix this later" sections. Currently, I'm having a surprisingly wonderful time writing a specific scene with Gale (double the excitement and pass it to the future me because I know what's to come later in the update). To the Arthur warriors, I say: stay strong (but consider that I never predict player reaction to scenes correctly, so don't stress it too much). And through it all, I have a strong urge to write someone aggressively flirting with the MC, and yet the circumstances aren't right (where is Y when you need them).

Hello! This is the time travel au anon back again to tell you about more of my brain rot ideas! So I've definitely settled of the time travel au with Jax and Y also remembering the past alongside the others simply because of how utterly delicious that concept is, and I've thought about a few other stuff too. Like for the original timeline, I think the mc will have almost gone the Arthur route with feelings definitely being there before eventually betraying the group and ending up with Y. I need to have that with Arthur possibly wanting to kindle things with mc now that the whole mc being on the side of Y is no longer a problem, with the added deliciousness of Y who I imagine still considers mc to be their partner wanting to take mc back. Because the possibility of the Y/mc/Arthur love V is way to delicious to pass up. I have this image in my head of mc walking around exploring town without the others around (maybe they got separated maybe the others are busy idk yet) and I have this image of Y (Who's probably wearing a hood or something to keep their identity hidden) placing a hand on mc's shoulder pressing themself close to mc's back saying "There you are darling, I've been looking everywhere for you" (think Sofie's first meeting with howl in howl's moving castle) and ahhhhhh safe to say I am obsessed with your story. I can't wait to read more of your if and will definitely be replaying it for the millionth time soon. I hope you don't mind me sharing my fanfic ideas with you this idea is just too delicious not to share with someone, and since you liked my earlier ask I thought you would like to hear more.

Them all being stuck on some sort of a time loop, with memories randomly coming back, would definitely be an experience 😂 It's a fascinating thing to explore, considering the MC's own circumstances in the game!

Confession time: I'm your friendly neighborhood love triangle enjoyer 😅 It fits these two (Y and Arthur) particularly well because there is absolutely no love lost between them. It "helps" that they have quite a twisted and uncharitable take on the other's relationship with the MC too, so neither has qualms about intruding on anything.

Once the game is finished (or we know how MC ended up, they way they are), I want to write an au fanfic where MC ends up being found by the Gale, Arthur, Darla trio instead of by Jax and Y. Either by canon divergence stuff or and I'm leaning more towards this, timetravel shenanigans. So I'm thinking MC betrays the group and helps Y and Jax win the war, and the "hero" group wants to change this, and realizing MC is (presumably) the key to winning the war, and wanting to save mc from Y. They find a way to go back in time to before MC meets Y (presumably ending up in the body of their past selves). The trio saves MC instead of Y, and meets up with Ianthe in the past, with MC none the wiser of who any of them are and why they were saved by them, presumably still waking up with amnesia. omg the brainrot your story gives me. I'm still debating if I want Y and Jax to still have their memories, but I know 100% that MC won't remember a thing. I think I'm leaning towards Y and Jax remembering everything, so I can have Y and Jax trying to get MC back from the others. Sorry for the rant. I love your if so much, I've been daydreaming about this idea while listening to the song Yuusha by YOASOBI. I just had to tell someone, and figured you'd get a kick out of this idea.

This is such a fascinating concept, especially if you consider how totally normal and chill Y would be about someone spiriting the MC away from under their nose 😬

Likes to play and agitate, but also some measure of Where do you think you're going? 😌: Yves/Yvette

Rarely the same kiss twice: Gale

Kissing as an act of adoration: Ianthe

Slow to resolve to it, but one of the most uninhibited things they do: Arthur

I just found the game today and I got hooked so fast (finished every last released page in two hours already, lol)! I'm so excited to see the story continue. I approached the story by making my mc his own individual character, and while my intention was to follow the story by allowing him to restart his life and break away from the Grey Regent, (and maybe romance Darla, Arthur, or Gale) I'm having mixed feelings now I'm finished because...Y. Y has certainly captured my heart, and so has Jax. We'll see how things go once the story continues lol... (I'll probably go for Y)
