Sisyphus grumbled to himself as he pushed past the colorful streamers blocking the doorway. The first thing he noticed upon entering was the absurd amount of machines crowding the entryway. Seriously, he thought it would just be him, Minos, Gabriel, the V-models, and Ferryman. Who invited them??

A flash of white stumbling through a pack of streetcleaners caught his attention.

"Ah! Sisyphus, welcome to the Gays and Theys potluck. Please tell me that thou hath brought something substantial." Minos sounded overwhelmed, clearly not expecting this either.

"I brought butter. I wasn't sure if you would have any." The look of pure despair that formed on Minos' non-existent face almost made the sea of machinery worth it.

"All we have at the moment is a salad and butter! None of the machines brought anything! What am I to do?!" Minos was nearly hysterical.

"I'm sure it'll work itself out. I don't see Gabriel or his partners here, I'm sure they'll bring something decent." Now that he's thinking about it V2 isn't here yet either, he's sure they can make something edible.

Minos buried his face in his hands as the front door slammed open and V2 skidded into the room holding a tray of cheese and crackers, "Sorry I'm late- why the fuck are there so many robots what the hell?"

Well. It does seem to be edible.

"MACHINE!" Gabriel's shout was soon followed by shattering glass and V2 passing their tray to Minos.

A blue blur collided with them and mechanical screeching filled the room as the two brawled. Mindflayers and sentries were looking at the two quizzically before going back to silently staring at each other.

Gabriel nearly tripped over a drone laying on the floor as he stomped over to V1 and dragged it away from V2. The Ferryman peeked in for a moment before shaking their head and ducking out. Understandable, Sisyphus would like to leave as well.

"Oh, Gabriel! What did you bring?" Minos sounded like he was nearly in tears.

"Ferry made some bread, but I think V1 sprinkled some eggshells into the batter." Gabriel didn't even bat an eye as Minos wailed. "They were also carrying it when they went through the window."

Minos collapsed onto the floor, and to be honest Sisyphus didn't feel that bad. It's pretty well known that only the Ferryman and V2 can cook. He unwrapped one of the sticks of butter he brought and took a bite.

"By the way, what are all the machines going to be eating?" All of said machines turned to face him. Hmm. He should probably leave.

He quickly hefted a bawling Minos and an unresponsive, sparking V2 onto his shoulders before scuttling out. Perfect timing judging by the stampede of metal followed by angelic shouting that followed him. The only people he'd allow to see him as a snack are Minos, Gabriel, and the V-models.

And I'm sayin' that we should be making some fuckin' revenue off of this shit. Could give us a good life, y'know?" A slip of the tongue; he didn't mean plural. He's simply used to being a unit. "I mean, like- y'know what I mean?"

Another tsk: "Acting like the world's gonna end over there."

The melodrama makes him smirk; like father like daughter.

logically there's probably something specific about hemoglobin that functions as their fuel source that hemocyanin or other pigment molecules can't replace however: i just think blood is like hydraulic fluid for these guys so yeah they probably could but it wouldnt be practical. do you know how many horseshoe crabs youd have to kill

Michael shoots his father a look that could curdle milk. Twenty years old and he hasn't been able to shake that old fear. He looks out at the pond, then back to William, and gets the strong sense that they're not leaving until Michael gets out of the car, crosses the grassy no man's land, and touches himself a goose. He locks gazes with the older man, to see if maybe he can't outlast him, overpower him with glowering and the grinding of his jaw alone; but William is the master glower-er and jaw grinder, and Michael quickly accepts that he's not going to win. He holds out for another thirty seconds, just so he can say he did, then steps out and slams the car door.

As soon as his sneakers touch grass, he knows he's made a mistake. Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, he thinks, as every swivelling, long-necked, evil goose head turns to stare at him. He's in their territory. He is not wanted here. He's going to get fucked up. He could put down most any man in town in a fight. If asked to, he would wrestle a bear. He cannot beat a goose. He starts mentally going over all their advantages as he approaches. Tongues with teeth. Their beady little eyes in their tiny mean skulls on their snake necks, so hard to grab. Those powerful wings that will soon be bruising him purple, because he can see feathers beginning to ruffle the closer he gets without stopping. He imagines, closing his eyes, their assholes puckering, ready to rain down globs of shit on his decimated body after they're done pecking him to pieces. They are killing machines. They are the apex predator. They're an affront to God, a perversion of His vision for what an animal should be, and they are coming right at him.

"NNNNNOOOOO!" he has time to cry before he's down, drowning in a sea of feathers. This does technically count as touching a goose.
