Wishing people could understand that starscream can be held accountable without blaming him for being an abuse victim.

So many people will be like “starscream isnt a good person and should stop being infantilized just because hes an abuse victim” and ill be like hell yeah!! Im tired of people babying him!

And then the follow it up with the most rancid victim blamey ass shit ive ever seen like “because he DESERVES megatrons abuse and is LYING about how bad it is. Hes a traitorous coward who should be beaten MORE” and i loose all respect for media literacy capabilities in this fandom.

I do need people to know that not every abuse victim is gonna be a good person. Some of us are wildly fucked up. That doesnt mean we DESERVE the abuse, sometimes a victim just continues the cycle.

Some of yall will literally watch starscream be beaten to death on screen and beg for mercy all because megatron snaps and decides killing his second in command is a good way to win a war and come to the conclusion that starscream is somehow in the wrong for…. Questioning the authority of.. a genocidal dictator who has killed over 3 quarters of his own kind??? Ah, i see. MEGATRON is the good guy here then. My mistake. I had forgotten that we should be agreeing with the bad guy….

All im saying is that some of yall are so incapable of comprehending bigger concepts that it kills me. Two things can be true at once.

Starscream is both a victim AND a bad person. just because he isnt a good person does not mean he deserves the abuse he faces at the hands of megatron. You can still hold him accountable without being an insensitive victim blaming jackass.

May i remind you that ALOT of actual victims relate to him? That when you blame him for the often realistic abuse that actual people can face every day, that you are indirectly blaming actual people for being abused as well? Or are you gonna pull the “fiction doesnt affect reality” card again…
