but instead of a “freezing” fear response Jason just shuts down completely. That boy knows how to function even if all his higher faculties are stuck blaring D A N G E R at him.

So, it takes a short while for others to notice that whenever there’s a clown around Jason just goes full on autopilot until the perceived danger has passed. Hyper vigilance to the max. Any sort of rapid movement from the clown causes him to tense and reach for a weapon ((maybe when Bruce is around he’ll instinctively inch closer to him)).

unfortunately i do think that sirius hated regulus. as an older sibling myself, whenver i see posts that are like: 'oh sirius could never actually hate regulus' or whatever, i just wonder whether people realize how complex sibling relationships can be. you hate them because you can't let them go; they are bound to you in a way no one else is. that isn't to say that sirius didn't love regulus, he probably did, somewhere buried under years and years of repression, but it never would've overcome the hate.

I don't necessarily agree that strongly, but I think about that frequently, especially in today's world where the only thing anyone seems to think about is "move fast, break things", no matter how important said things are for some people.

Randall Munroe is obviously taking things to 11, as he often does, to illustrate the absurdities that can result from taking a hard stance on that.

i thought my laptop was on its last leg because it was running at six billion degrees and using 100% disk space at all times and then i turned off shadows and some other windows effects and it was immediately cured. i just did the same to my roommate's computer and its performance issues were also immediately cured. okay. i guess.

so i guess if you have creaky freezy windows 10/11 try searching "advanced system settings", go to performance settings, and uncheck "show shadows under windows" and anything else you don't want. hope that helps someone else.

Like imagine you're just this girl, you belong to Andruil - whether in a slavery-type-of-way or even in the more 'normal' way where you just worship the super-into-sacrifice general/empress/goddess that irrevocably helped change the world - and you're a good Huntress of hers; dedicated, faithful, talented even. Fuck, she even saved once you once, when you were bound by a man who had disrespected her and she turned you into this beautiful expression of grace and purity in the halla.

But you're also a little weird; you keep to yourself, you spend days in a workshop creating beasts (alongside the halla, who you so love because Andruil turned you into the first manifestation of that beauty to save you) for Andruil to hunt - like as a form of worship? to test her and see if she is worthy of your devotion? for... fun? - and she does. More! She's so impressed with you - you, who are her devoted servant in whatever way that manifests - that you become known as her Beloved and she offers you Godhood.

You get elevated to Godhood.

You get fucking elevated to Godhood.

And you're the youngest of the Gods and they slayed Titans and you're a girl who grew up in the world they shaped and sure, you made some monsters for your Goddess/Lover/Undying-Devotion, but are you good enough? Are you powerful enough? Or are you just Andruil's smash piece who is indulged by the others?

And how does that insecurity manifest? Do you start creating more monsters to wound your People, set up your own central power of devotion? Change yourself to fit an aesthetic you think you should have?

Do you start modifying your body to seem grander, because the other Evanuris came from spirit, but you (likely) didn't? Do you change your shape like they changed theirs? Is that metamorphosis that becomes your linchpin- the point to which you point to as to when you attained Godhood?

Not to mention that your expertise, your field of study has driven your Lover/Goddess mad and you're experimenting with it - using it to change yourself and to create more and worse monsters - and maybe, just maybe, you're a little mad too but you're a Goddess now and you are at Andruil's side and all the other gods are on your level, because you mastered the weapon that will become their most potent power source.

And, in the end, if the Evanuris shaped the age you lived in then you shape the age that comes next.

the number one reason that we have government paperwork processing in "inefficient" computer systems is for stability. You make those systems unstable, and you could topple everything that relies on them down. Privacy of the people in the databases, federal benefits, government employees, payments to any company that contracts with the US, and subsequently the private sector as a whole. (not that I particularly mind defense contractors getting fucked over)

take it from me, I worked in tech consulting with government agencies: Even attempting to take Elon in good faith, DOGE trying to crack open or replace government computer systems without a long slow assured process is a disaster in the making. Perhaps several disasters in the making.

The US economy genuinely might collapse within a week. lol
