he can't keep getting away with this shit!!! i genuinely can't believe how much people are eating up this awful awful guy's blatant misrepresentation of everything. fuck, the problem is that some of the criticisms he had would be completely legitimate if he hadn't poisoned the well with the rest of his Gio shit. he always does this, he fucks up his own case for himself.

here’s something extra suspicious about the whole Gio antisemitic joke situation: ive seen many many people point out that he made an antisemitic joke, even directly to him — but the only person i’ve seen him block for pointing that out was my friend Delia @quantumshade for explicitly identifying herself as Jewish in literally just two replies to him. Gio and i have had multiple back and forth conversations across both his posts and mine over the last few days, and to be honest, i was being a lot harsher in my wording than Delia was. but Delia mentioned she was Jewish. and THAT’S when Gio blocked her. When a Jewish person specifically pointed out that she was Jewish in her criticism of his antisemitism. Utterly telling. I’ve also seen him delete comments asking about it. 🤷‍♀️ COULD MEAN NOTHING THOUGH

Gio's comment read "Stop spreading lies. I didn't block that user". when i tagged her to ask, he blocked me too, but not before Delia could grab a screenshot of her Clearly Being Blocked By Gio. this was before he blocked me, too -- for comparison, here's what it looks like now:

So yeah, photographic evidence that Gio is blocking Jewish people who explicitly self-identify as Jewish in their criticisms of his Antisemitism, and then lying about it afterwards, and then blocking the people who point out that he's lying. I bet we should trust everything this guy has to say about vulnerable minorities, folks! He's a real hero for the people!

i mean, i think that’s pretty shitty, given that he’s pretty explicitly a decent metaphor for transmasculinity, and even though he wasn’t ever assigned female at birth (ghosts are all assigned gender neutrality from birth in UT) the fans he’s supposed to be there for were. there are other UTDR characters that very easily read as transfem, i don’t see why we need the One (1) who is a trans guy. not trying to start shit, but the “you have zero media literacy” comments cut both ways; this is Lars of The Stars case.

i think it's really important to note, as we discuss the fact that karkat already has a voice actor that was revealed in the credits as well as the fact we see him in the trailer, is that his room is based off of the first panel we see him in and not based off information we see in hivebent.

to make this perfectly clear, i dont think that Gio “stole homestuck’s assets” — i don’t even respect the institution of intellectual property to begin with. as far as i’m concerned, neither homestuck nor Gio “own” the unofficial collection (and nor should they homestuck) and yeah, it IS blatantly shady for Andrew to wield IP law the way they did in parts of the Gio/Andrew debacle; i don’t think anybody’s disagreeing with that.

but yknow, this is just a blatant misrepresentation of the foundation Bambosh built the unofficial collection on, which is that anybody can modify & host it. Gio is asserting (or implying) that Homestuck is stealing it from him by sharing code that they “have no permission to” share, as if permission is something that was ever relevant to this in the first place.

obviously nobody is stealing anything from each other here (muh ideas!!) — i’m just trying to point out that by Gio’s own logic, Homestuck is doing nothing wrong by hosting his code. i mean, he’s not even the one who started the collection (not that that matters — again, it’s totally within the license) so it’s just an utterly bizarre argument to make.

That said, all this makes me wonder if we would have a fundamentally better homestuck collection by now had Gio never joined the project in the first place to start making it His Personal Thing — the guy has “saved homestuck” as his bio on social media for fucks sake, his entire identity is that he “deserves to be part of homestuck” more than anybody else; he wants to be an irreplaceable cornerstone of the comic’s history. Bambosh on the other hand seems lovely, always been a fan of his work.

Hey Gio, I personally would not use "they stole the assets of the homestuck collection from me against my wishes!!!!" as an argument, given that the assets of the homestuck collection are in fact the assets of homestuck.
