Having Hot Topic as a store was the sign of the alt fashion being adopted into the mainstream. AFAIK punk was the only alt fashion with a political ideology firmly tied to it.

The emo, goth, metal, hipster and other subcultures didn't. They were considered subversive in their time but I mean, these days we have Hot topic and Spencer's at malls. The music and imagery was not-conservative but that doesn't mean it was progressive by nature.

So uh... don't judge a book by its cover kids...

it is my experience that people with dermal implants and eyeball tattoos and 34 visible piercings are the sweetest people you'll ever meet and will cry if they see a pigeon with a broken wing. it is also my experience that clean-cut people in polo shirts with perfect smiles will vote against your rights and say the most disgusting things imaginable once they think you're out of earshot.

Who knew that the movie The Matrix would awake so many souls ,souls that were desperate for the truth ,the essence never told by those who were in power .All of us living a lie ,an illusion perpetually stuck in a bubble a holographic universe created to keep our souls in a constant place run by machines.But we could leave and create a safe heaven for us. We could teleport, and become a signal that could be restore as we reach our destination.Great imagination you may think but what if Hollywood was right and as those pulling the strings as they have always stated humans are so gullible and easily seduced that even presenting the truth a foot from their noses couldn’t see it.Well ,an exercise in awareness and consciousness.without ingesting a red pill or a blue pill.
