this may sound weird but i've finally developed a sense of balance in terms of what i call apollon.
for context, i feel weird if i say apollon all the time because it feels too formal and restrictive, but it feels too casual to constantly say apollo too.
so now, instead, when i'm talking to or about him in a lighthearted / casual manner with other hellenic pagans or other devotees ( or just yapping to him about my day ), i say apollo. when i'm talking to him formally ( i.e, inviting him for a reading, giving a formal prayer, etc ), talking about him seriously, or talking to non-pagans about him then i say apollon.
this is a weird analogy but it's kind of like how in some fiction, the king's son will call him father or dad in private but address him as "his majesty" or "your majesty" in front of others!
point of this post? i don't know, kind of a reminder that your practice is your own, and that you can mix and match if that works for you.

Lore Olympus from the eyes of a Hellenist
Hey everyone! So I recently discovered some interesting insight that, in a way, changed my view of Lore Olympus as a Hellenic Polytheist. I thought I'd share this with you.
So, I did read Lore Olympus before I was a Hellenist and I honestly loved the webtoon and it was great to read. However, in April of 2022, I became a Hellenist. This made things more complicated.
Now right off the bat, I am a devotee of Apollon. So you can pretty much guess how I felt to see my God being portrayed as a cruel villain in LO, and how I felt to see the fanbase consistently insulting and disrespecting him.
It hurts that even other worshippers of Apollon have actually been mocked for worshipping him, simply because some people only know of him as if he is a made-up character from Lore Olympus.
While this is pretty bad, I've learned that the story itself is not as bad as I thought. Thanks to a few friends on Discord, who are ever knowledgeable, I have gained a new understanding that allows me to appreciate LO more, and I may convince myself to begin reading it again.
The Gods in Lore Olympus are portrayed as heavily flawed, almost like humans. Their realm itself is a reflection of human society. In this webtoon, Apollo does some horrible things and scars Persephone in the worst of ways. However, he is the favourite child and is beloved to all, so nobody would see him as the bad guy, right?
I think when looking at this, as well as other things, we realise something. Lore Olympus is less a story of the Gods, but is rather a story about humans, shared through a retelling of mythology. And it is a story that is quite important for us to hear.
Apollo in LO represents the golden child. The one who gets away with it all and can do everything he desires. The one who is so privileged that he can do any sort of harm, and people will still find a way to defend him. The one who sees himself as so important and grand, that he feels he can enforce his will and desires on everyone and is willing to do anything to get what he wants.
Of course, this Apollo is nothing like the true Apollon. Not even slightly close to our God. However, similar to actual myths, LO is not to be taken as a story of the Gods. Rather, it is a story that tells us something, and uses depictions of the Gods to explain it. We are not mythic literalists of course.
Now, even if we take a look at somebody like Ovid. His depictions and writings of the Gods can often be described as downright disrespectful, despite the fact that we was a Roman who lived during the time when the Gods were still widely worshipped. Ovid often depicted the Gods in pretty negative ways. If I recall correctly, I think I was told that he did this for political reasons too.
Alright so, let me not stretch this post too long. Lore Olympus, despite its problematic fanbase and certain historical and mythological inaccuracies, tells us an important story about human society that often goes unspoken. This webtoon does not reflect the Gods themselves, nor does it necessarily reflect mythology. It reflects human society as a whole, especially focusing on the darker parts of human lives.
I hope I managed to explain this as well as it was explained to me, and I hope that I could provide someone with insight.
Thank you all for reading this! ♡

Hello ✨🏹
Hi everyone! Well i want to talk a bit about me… I'm from Argentina, i don't speak english very well, i help myself with the translate. I know the basic 😅 I love to draw, to read and i like animals! I'm christian but also i love greek and egyptian gods 🤗 I'm searching about the norse too, but at the moment i focus myself in the greek and egyptian, specially Artemis and Isis, my two fav goddesses, but i like all of the deities ♡
I'll avoid and ignore some posts wich are disrespectful with the gods and blame them… You see, i'm not a hellenic polytheist yet, i recently discover it and i searching more about it, it will be lovely to worship Artemis one day 🏹🌙 But at the moment i'm just a big fan an lover of the gods and goddesses. Is hard to separate the myth from the gods, but i read one day… "The myths are not the gods".
You see, of course that the myths brings us some info and descriptions of many deities, but you have to remember that those stories were written by poets and dramaturgs, whose also had their own ideas and opinions. Many of them had some "anti-gods" ideas, like Ovid who wrote his texts after he was exilied by the roman emperor (sorry i can't remember very well his name 😫). So we can't take the poet's works as a "valid despiction" of the deity… Don't forget the myths cotradicts theirself in so many cases. Also, i prefer the hymns for made a good despiction of the gods or goddesses ✨
But the point is, please try to respect the deities, because they're not just simple characters of a story, they were gods worshiped and loved. Also now, they're still worshiped, so please don't be disrespectful with the deities. Also please don't attack the worshipers… I saw people who attacks a certain god or goddess worshiper and that is awful, respect if you want to be respected.
I come back with the fact that the myths were written by people with their own opinions… That's the reason why some god or goddess do something contradictory in a story and another. But also remember that the gods's actions in the myths were simbolic, a metaphore. The myths were for bring a lesson or sometimes to explain "why this exists?" or "Why is this object consecrated to this god or goddess?". Stop please attacking the deities!
The myths sometimes don't show the gods with good light, but that doesn't meant that the gods are bads…. They're NOT "bads" or "goods", please stop of judging a god's action for his/her myth… Ares wasn't hated by all, he is the protector of women and he had temples! He had a temple in Athens! Athena's city! We can't take a myth wich paint Ares as cruel and bloody or said that "he is the most hated god, even his parents hate him" NO! Stop! Same with Athena… So many people blame her for what she did to Medusa… She didn't! It was a story written by Ovid. Artemis and Apollo are also blamed, Hera and Zeus too, Demeter… PLEASE STOP INSULTING THE GODS! The myths are stories written by mortals for the mortals! Also if you insult a god or a goddess, you're insulting the culture too, because they are a reflection of their cultures (egyptian deities for Egypt, greek deities for Greece), so please, be respectful 🙏
We all can enjoy those stories, but without blame or insult the deities, please 💙
And another thing… The retellings. I'm not against the retellings, i think they are very interesant and is good to see the gods are still loved and people write about them. But some people need to know what a RETELLING is… I know about fans of certains retelling attacking deites's worshipers because what that god or goddess does in that retelling. There's a big diference between a retelling's character and the god/goddess himself/herself, some people seems like they can't see the diference and prefer to attack worshipers… Please stop with that! Yoy can't enjoy a retelling without blame or attack other who worship o simply love the deity that your retelling took for it story?
Sorry, but i get angry when i saw those posts or comments against the gods 😞
Also sorry if my english is not good 🙏
That's all at the moment, i hope i could find friends with the same passion and a very sane community of deities lovers 🤗
PD: I'm working in my own webcomic retelling with the Delian Family as protagonists 🤭 I'll be fair with all the gods and goddesses, because i want to share my love for them ✨ If anyone have an idea or something to say about Leto and her twins, please tell me because will be a honour to put that in my story!

Hey there! I've recently decided to start practicing Hellenism with Ares as my deity. However, as I've never been religious at all until recently, I'm very new to it all and was wondering if you had any advice? Any specific things I should be doing? I've been researching, but would love some insight (especially since Ares devotees are tough finds, it seems)!
WE’RE NEW TOGETHER POOKIE 😭
I was the same way. I was an atheist almost my whole life before I started practicing Hellenism. I do have some advice though!
You don’t have to buy wildly expensive and new things for your altar, and your altar doesn’t have to be extravagant. If you can afford to buy things, and you have the space for an extravagant altar, good for you!
My altar for Ares is a statuette I bought of PRE Hellenism, a dog statuette thing I’ve had since I was seven, Kuromi (because she gives off Ares vibes), random jewelry, a candle, and a nice spelling spray I spritz for him sometimes!
Try to pray as often as you can. I pray every night, or at least try to. The gods understand that life can get busy.
I really recommend travel altars if you want to pray more often! Mines an old watercolor tin,but lots of people use Altoid tins!
Theoi.com IS A LIFESAVER! THE GODS MUST’VE SENT IT DOWN FOR US. OH MY GODS-
You said you’re starting on Ares, which is amazing I am too. But, Hellenism is typically a polytheistic religion. Currently, I’m a devotee of Ares and Thanatos. There is no limit to how many gods you can be a devotee of!
Some general thing you could do are:
Make your wallpaper Ares
Make him a playlist
Learn about different wars in history
Support your local veterans
Exercise (if possible)
THANKS FOR THE ASK! ♡♡

Roman Polytheist (I personally believe Roman mythology is very disrespectful to Greek Gods and Goddesses and spread misinformation about them as well which there is proof of. hello!! nice to meet you ♡
i'm Algernon but most people just call me Algy! 21yo, he/him, Polish, trans man, gay, hellenic polytheist. an artist and a writer, tho i definitely post more of the former.
𓆰 TWST side-blog; mostly focused on OC and (especially) OC x canon content, so be warned if that's not your thing!
𓆰 a very normal Pomefiore stan, especially normal about Rook Hunt (i'm so sane about this man trust me)
𓆰 EN player, but i don't generally care about spoilers in any way, so you may see some spoilers from JPN floating around here (feel free to come yell at me in my inbox if i forget to tag them)
𓆰 i usually only have enough brain space to focus on one fandom and currently that's TWST but some of my other fandoms/interests include: The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System, Obey Me, EPIC: the Musical, Witch Hat Atelier, some other anime and manga, other danmei and c-dramas, so so many books, fiction podcasts and every vampire-related thing i can get my hands on.
𓆰 this is my side blog, as my main i mostly use @gothicromancebf but i follow and like from @sparklespecks
𓆰 i have dyslexia and English is not my first language - please be patient with me if i have made any weird typos or grammar mistakes, i probably just didn't notice
𓆰 i'm bad at making the first step but PLEASE feel free to reach out in any form, be it via asks or dms!! i'd love to chat with more people!!
𓆰 i don't have a DNI list as i don't believe those to be very useful or effective and i don't like wasting my time on petty internet discourse. if i don't want somebody in my bubble, i'll simply block them and i tend to block people very liberally. just be a decent person and we're fine <3
𓆰 that being said, do NOT interact with me if you support Israel or Russia in any way. also don't be weird about my religion/beliefs please

Χαιρετε!
I’m Aryn, 21, she/they. I’m a Hellenic polytheist devoted to Aphrodite, though I worship many of the gods. My worship and practice comes from more of a traditional perspective so the things I post on this blog will reflect that.
I’m currently undergrad getting my degree in anthropology & classical studies, both of which I adore. Always open to chatting or answering questions!
I also run an adults-only (18+) discord server for Hellenic polytheism which you can join here:
This is a religious blog - Greek mythology fans please only interact respectfully ♡

i softblock most people who follow me, or i don't follow back. it's never personal. i like privacy and this blog is my bedroom.
Anatoly or Spencer, he/him, 21. hellenic polytheist. Athena devotee and Hermes worshipper. though this is a helpol blog, it's not always the focus, so you will find a mix of different things here. i have a kinlist but first you must solve my riddles three. my neocities (NOT mobile friendly) :)
current theoi tag system:
.𓅓 Athena | .♡ Aphrodite
.🪽 Hermes | .⚔️ Ares
.🔱 Poseidon | .🕯️ Hestia
.🌾 Demeter | .⚡ Zeus
... more most likely to be added in the future. i use this for digital offerings and generally things that remind me of them. even though i worship Athena above all, i acknowledge that all the gods play some role in my life, big or small, and still try to recognize them when they pass by.
i don't respect anyone who uses ai art in any context but especially the theoi, you are just committing repackaged plagiarism. additionally, terfs & zionists explode and die.
