New aged Pagans/Hellenic Pagans - Almost all of you take from other practices, mix practices in ways they aren't meant to be, spread and believe tons of harmful misinformation, mix up or blend Roman and Greek mythology, and are immune to correction unless it's in a popular tiktok video. I don't want to interact with that unless you're genuinely trying to learn.
Roman Polytheist (I personally believe Roman mythology is very disrespectful to Greek Gods and Goddesses and spread misinformation about them as well which there is proof of. I will never try to convince anyone that their practice is invalid, but i don't want it to cross over into a space where i practice/share mine.)
╰┈┈┈➤ ♡. 。°
My page is primarily where i share things about my practice, information on Greek Mythology and Hellenic Practices. I try to share knowledge and sources to try and stop misinformation when i can but only because Hellenic polytheism is so special to me, i hate to see it ruined by misinformation that's easily cleared up with cross examination and research.

“I don’t have to respect your deity because I don’t worship them” is a very odd logic to adopt while interacting with fellow pagans, I believe, especially for people who follow the same path or pantheon.

i hate how easily misinformation spreads online because it's always 20x harder to get the truth out
and it's always somehow from the same group of people 😭

yes! If you're interested here's some information on more of his writings and influence in the Roman Christian era.
Dear fellow pagans:
Take your Greek mythology with a grain of salt.
The ancient Greek writers were horribly misogynistic, and they never missed an opportunity to make the Goddess or woman out to be evil or sneaky. Note anything by Hesiod alone. They even turned Gaia, the literal earth and mother of creation itself, into a cruel and rebellious bitch. Athena punished a rape victim and then aided her assailants for fun. Aphrodite was vain and selfish. The entire story of Persephone.
Hera. Just...Hera.
I'm not saying ignore the past, what I'm saying is if you want to work with these Goddesses, you don't have to stick to the ancient script created by men who hated them. You can, in fact, modernize and worship in how you connect personally. Religion should be about having fun.

Romans didn't demonize Greek culture, but rather it was their religion at the time they were demonizing to get people to convert to Christianity. Also yes i know, it's history.

To those of you who worship obscure divinities: there are no rule that bind you except your own. Go worship that obscure deity. Go invent that festival from scratch. Go make that offering even if it’s unusual. Go write that prayer even if you’re the only one who gets it. Go play around with your freedom as a practitioner and explore! Even in a spiritual context, creativity is a gift.

a poem i made for lord apollo and thought i should share :3
lord apollo,
raise my spirits like those that passed on rise to the great heavens.
warm my soul like the rays of the sun on a warm summer day.
sooth me like the sweet taste of vanilla mixed into a mug of milk and honey.
i know you're around,
the buzz of bees on sunflowers,
hawks soaring far above,
that one song that just warms my heart,
a cheerful child giving me a tight hug.
i love you, for all the gifts and greatness you are.
i love you, for you.
i love you as i love a cool breeze on a hot summer day,
a song i never tire of,
the sweetness of berries,
the aesthetic of life itself.
i love you, like the bright and wise older brother i never had.

One of the things that pisses me off most about this genocide and overall occupation is how many people say it's so complicated and there's so much nuance and there isn't one easy solution. This is one of the simplest things I have ever seen. Zionists invaded palestine in 1947-48. They have occupied it for 76 years while taking more and more land. They kidnap and torture and massacre Palestinians day in day out for those 76 years. They control every aspect of Palestinian life, including their water and medical care. And now they are committing another genocide against them. Where is the complication? What is hard to understand? "Well, Jewish people need a place where they won't be discriminated against" I absolutely agree. So make every country in the world safe for Jewish people. Fight against anti Semitism across the world. Don't commit a genocide and set up an ethnostate.

So many Pagan resources are full of mixed or just inaccurate information!! If you're going to practice Greek paganism, the least you could do is cross reference your information with genuine Greek sources!
once again this is all ovid's fault

The sadness and despair in those eyes...
There are no innocent soldiers in iof, including the women. I've seen female soldiers laughing and dancing at the misery of Palestinian people and doing heinous acts just like their male counterparts.

This is not a natural disaster. This was not inevitable. They didn't grow up like this. It was inflicted on them by the vilest sadists on earth.

THIS IS THE ONE 😫🫶🏽
“Stop trying to sanitize the gods, they’re flawed and human.”
Excuse me? You’re trying to tell me that my deities are somehow close to our level? That they are flawed and therefore lesser? My gods had the ancients inventing new ways of thinking, and forced us to consider our place in the universe under their tutelage. They survived thousands of years of intentional erasure. They could not be forced to bow to a new “supreme” god. They survived into the 21st century where we worship currency and technology. They moved through the winds and whispers of our ancestors that were under threat. But the gods kept us in their graces after their temples were disgraced and built over with churches. The held our bloodline in their hands from the cradle to the grave, over and over, from ancestor to descendent, all the way to us. They endure in a way we could never. And they give us the gift of their presence and indescribable vastness. They are not human. They are not of this world. We’ve been told that means all goodness and all perfection, and that standard is untouchable just as God is unreachable. These gods touch us, they have walked amongst us.
We have told their stories from the viewpoint of western, Christian, modern society and it has done them a disservice. Even so, even though we take their stories of divinity and water them down, they do not retaliate, they do not abandon us. They are the farthest thing from human. And if this lesson is that imperfection is beyond humanity, it makes the ideal of perfection we hold foolish and inhumane.
The gods have no need for our blessings, but I bless their names nonetheless.

Except that's not true! Those misogynistic stories where Roman rewrites meant to demonize Greek gods and religious practices. Stop spreading this garbage about Greek writers and mythology just because YOU didn't fact check! And some of things your calling "misogynistic mythology" are recognized Ephites of Goddesses so again the blatant disrespect. (I say as an Aphrodite and Poseidon devotee)
ALL OF THOSE EXAMPLES YOU LISTED ARE PROVEN ROMAN REWRITES AND ARE NOT REAL GREEK MYTHOLOGY. You shit on Hesiod's writings while quoting The Roman poet Ovid, That story of Medusa is one of the biggest examples of Roman literature being portrayed as Greek mythology; it wasn't even a real myth. In Greek mythology (the one written by Hesiod) she was born that way with her sisters, Athena never cursed her. Also you're screaming misogyny as if every well know (at the time) man wasn't painted as a narcissist and or rapist or just man praised for violence, in roman literature. That story about Medusa was made to demonize BOTH Athena and Poseidon to convert people to Roman faith, do an ounce of research.
Every day i see another pagan disrespecting Greek people, culture and mythology because of the misinformation of other Pagans.
saying "take with a grain of salt" means it doesn't matter, i don't know why i need to explain to you all why saying to take someone's culture and mythology with a grain of salt is disrespectful.
There's nothing wrong with having fun or personalizing your practice but at what point do you do you recognize your own errors ? Even if that's how your relationship works with your deities, for you to get on the internet and begin spreading it like something everyone should do is the reason people still can't escape the misinformation of Roman myths that have been portrayed as Greek. It's the reason so many HelPol people want to separate from Hellenic Pagans, you have no respect and endless misinformation. I mean look at how many notes are just blindly believing this.
Where my info is from:
According to Hesiod's Theogony, she was one of three Gorgon sisters born to Keto and Phorkys, primordial sea gods; Medusa was mortal, while the others, Stheno and Euryale, were immortal.
The best-known story of Medusa comes from the Roman poet Ovid. Medusa was seduced by Neptune (Poseidon) in a temple to Minerva (Athena), and in revenge, Minerva turned Medusa's beautiful head of hair into snakes. As she was both mortal and had the ability to turn men to stone, Perseus was sent to cut off her head. Yet we know Medusa Originated in Greece.
SOURCES ON ROMANS USING GREEK CULTURE:
Romans were obsessed with Greek culture for a hot minute, they wanted to go to schools in Greece, buy expensive Greek art. The most Famous Roman poets and inventors built off the ideas of Greece so much their Art was being replicated.
Athena punished a rape victim and then aided her assailants for fun. i don't know how people don't understand the betrayal that everyone in the global south feels from the way this has gone down, but nobody is more betrayed than those who sincerely wanted and believed in a democratic future. i really want people to wonder how they would feel living in a region where the death of 11,000 children is seen as an international project that all the first-world countries of the world have collaborated on together. the US, the UK, the EU have all come together to encourage israel to slaughter palestinian children. it's not merely silence. it's not a lack of condemnation. it's an active participation. as far as this region is concerned, the democratic future is dead. it was already killed a long time ago. but right now nobody is more empowered than those who never believed in it in the first place. so thank you for the sanctimonious concern about human rights, which we can now gather and bury alongside the fragmented bodies of palestinian children.
