Music was blasting so loud but that wasn't what your ears cared about. All you could focus on was Sirius’ voice, the words brushing his pretty pink lips. Lips you once kissed, at a party like this one. You hoped you could kiss him more, but you were his best friend. And he was a player.

You weren’t the first girl he kissed drunk but probably the only one he didn’t lead to his bedroom after. You didn’t know what it meant, you hoped he contained himself because he cared about you and not wanted you to think you were just a one-night thing.

Something was signalling you you were right, he had fewer and fewer night partners as you grew closer. You still needed to figure it out further but you didn’t have to worry about it right now.

Because right now, Sirius was so so close to you and you needed a lot of self-control to stop yourself from closing the gap between both your mouths. You wondered if Sirius knew how beautiful he was. Sure, he knew he was handsome but beautiful? Probably not but you hoped he would one day.

“How can you be so pretty?” Sirius whispered, his lips against your ear and it made you shiver more than it should. 

On his side, Sirius was actually terrified. What a shitty situation was to be in love with his best friend. And as he looked down at you, taking notes you wore the stars earrings he loved so much, he could only remember the way your lips felt on his. He missed and craved the feeling. 

He ignored from where came the confident all of a sudden but he welcomed it with pleasure. Normally he would be flirty but not so honest, he would try to charm you as a joke (because best friends flirt with each other ironically, right?) but this time he just wanted you to know how endearing you looked to him. And he didn’t even drink as much as he did usually, and neither did you.

Everything around the both of you slowed down when he pronounced these words, nothing was existing anymore. Sirius couldn’t describe the sensation, he wanted you more than anything but he was scared you only saw him as a player and didn’t want anything serious with him. And if only you could know how much he loved you, he missed you anywhere and anytime. At least, as your closest friend, it was so easy to follow you around everywhere.

But before he could do anything, you leaned in, your hand cupping his cheek, tilting his head down. Your lips reached for his, and he let himself get lost in the kiss, his hands quickly around your waist. Kissing you sober was maybe one of the best things that happened to him. The warm sensation in his stomach, the heat creeping up his cheeks.

You pulled away for air with a smile, in front of you Sirius, as happy as you were. His forehead fell against yours, and even with all the euphoria from the previous kiss, one question burned his lips.

“Are you mine?” he whispered

Your smile widened, and you touched your nose with his before pulling him into a second kiss. This one was quicker, you needed to answer.

“I’m yours”

marissa took a walk on the beach to clear her head. her parents were supposed to be getting married & her dad left them. again. how could she think things were going to be different this time? as she continued walking, she heard someone call her & to her surprise, it was alex. she was the last person she ever expected to see. things had ended up really badly for them the last time she saw her & she felt responsible because the blonde wasn't in her right mind to start a relationship with someone when she was clearly still in love with someone else. ❛❛ hey, alex. i didn't expect to see you either. i just needed to take a walk to clear my head, you know? ❜❜ it felt a little uncomfortable taking to alex again but maybe it was because the way the two had ended things.

SCENE/PUNK GIRL LIKERS COME GET YOUR FOOD

Spooal lore dump over these two and more about the Kiddlings in general for whomever cares under the cut

SO. THESE TWO. These two were the leaders of ALL★STAR before Ace took over, on the right is Starla (Madeleine Forrest, a devil) and the left is Indigo (Selena Kiddling, a gargoyle)! They led ALL★STAR for about a 8 years before Starla said enough was enough and urged Selena to quit with her. This lead to Selena passing the torch to Agar before Agar later handed it to Ace.

When they first met Selena was about 16, she was highly curious about the gang that her family paid protection fees to, though she looked a little too close and got pulled into a tussle with a rivalling gang, being pulled out of the way just in time by Starla, sparking their lifelong friendship! Starla introduced Selena to ALL★STAR's first leader, Pip, and later rose the ranks and became the second leader!

As of the start of the story they are happily married! Starla is 29 and Selena is 28 and live with the rest of the Kiddlings in the building above the bakery.

As far as family dynamics go

Selena is the oldest of the 3, Ace is the middle child and Miley is the youngest. While Ace and Selena are both fully related, Miley is their younger half sister but in their eyes it doesn't matter about blood, she's just their baby sister :) they're trying their best to divert her from following their path, at least one sibling should stay clean

As far as parents go, they have Alessio (their father,49) Marissa (miley's mother/ace+selena's step mother,52) and Bianca (selena+ace's mother, would've been 48). Bianca sadly passed from severe pneumonia when Selena and Ace were fairly young (12+8 respectivly)

As far as random fun facts!:

Ace and Selena both have mild athsma ( same as their mother)

Selena lost her wings during a fight with Panthera's leader Bravery. Bravery later did the same to Ace during his time with the group

Miley and Selena are named after Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez! Ace is named after the motorhead song Ace of Spades (Spade makes up the other half)

Starla and Selena are currently trying to have a kid :)! Once they do they want to name them Ken/Kenny

The Kiddling kids grew up christian but they mostly turned out to be atheists, their parents are still very strong believers though (they love and accept their kids being queer though!)

Ace wound up being a father before Selena lol

My Review:

This was a fantastic end to the trilogy and one of my favorite books of 2024 so far. I was surprised at how quickly everything from the previous books came back to me once I started reading, even though I was sure I didn't remember much. There are no obvious "this is what already happened" sections either. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down and finished it in two days.

I love how Leslie Vedder took what is on the surface a Sleeping Beauty retelling and completely transformed it, giving it a hefty dose of Indiana Jones and so much more depth than the original tale. The characters are also fantastic, complex and compelling and difficult. I was absolutely hooked from the first moments of the first book to the final moments of the last. I love how, even when things seemed to be wrapping up, there were so many surprises and unexpected moments. I never knew what to expect.

The writing is fabulous and sucked me in immediately. The magic is both beautiful and ominous. The setting is incredibly vivid as well, and there are so many scenes that would make amazing paintings.

I am sad to come to the end of Fi and Shane and Briar and Red's tale. I would love to see a spinoff series of their adventures after the events in Andar. Especially if Perrin and the Paper Witch were to make cameo appearances. I will be keeping an eye out for Leslie Vedder's next book - she's jumped onto my shortlist of autobuy authors at this point.

Sem querer ofender, mas ofendendo, o livro parece que foi escrito por uma garota de 12 anos. É aquela clássica história: a nerd e o bad boy e a personalidade dos personagens é basicamente isso. Só.

Tem vários palavrões e o romance veio literalmente do nada. Tipo, ele xingou ela por anos, aconteceu uma coisinha e aí ela perdoou e levou numa boa.

Depois de uma tistreza como o livro anterior, o mínimo que eu poderia fazer era ler algo descente. E Da Mesma Cor foi mais do que apenas descente.

Simplesmente amei a escrita da autora, me envolveu completamente. Os personagens foram bem construídos, para um livro tão curtinho, e o casal me lembra a Anne e o Gilbert (da série) versão anos 80.

Tem o enemies to lovers, a ruivinha órfã e estressadinha com o moreno levemente doido e de bem com a vida. Só não dei 5 estrelas pq o final é "aberto."

Outro enemies to lovers nacional de respeito! Não entendi pq a média geral no Skoob é tão baixinha, achei o livro incrível, lembra aqueles filmes de comédia romântica da Sessão da Tarde - e me passou uma vibe Cartas para Julieta.

Como podemos ver, envolve ✨livrarias em Paris✨. A última delas pra ser mais exata, após todas as outras fecharem misteriosamente.

O mistério não é lá essas coisas, mas o romance é fofinho e clichê <3

Apesar do mistério/romance não ser nada muito incrível ou espetacular, ainda achei a escrita da autora muito boa e a Ceci me divertiu muito kkkkkk

Foi meu primeiro livro da Kézia e me deixou com uma impressão muito boa dela, tanto que li outros dois no mesmo mês.

A Ceci está indo passar um tempo na casa dos avós, em Itaipaema, onde crimes nunca acontecem. Ao menos, isso é o que dizem.

Nesse mundo, existem três opções: ser um renegado e sempre salvar o dia (ainda que seguindo um monte de regras que atrapalham suas missões), ser um vilão e estragar o dia (embora essa seja a visão dos renegados, pq nem tudo é tão simples assim) ou ser uma pessoa normal esperando ser salva (mesmo quando poderia muito bem se salvar sozinha).

Mas, nesse mundo, também há exceções e essas exceções se chamam Adrian e Nova. Ele, um renegado que não gosta de seguir regras. E ela, uma vilã não tão má assim.

Cara, eu AMEI esse livro, maluco demais!

Tá aí algo que eu nunca tinha visto.

É um livro infanto-juvenil, então não dá pra esperar muita coisa da história em si, mas cara, vcs não têm ideia da nostalgia que eu fiquei lendo isso aqui!

Nossa, isso lembrou MUITO meu 5°/6° ano, os passeios, como a gente era, as músicas, nossas maluquices kkkkkkk foi uma leitura maravilhosa 🫶🏻

Tem um romance básico, bem levinho, super indico pra qm tem na faixa de 11/12 anos - qm é mais velho tbm vai gostar, claro kkkkkkk

Aurora vem sendo seguida por um garoto misterioso há pelo menos um ano, após o assassinato de sua mãe, mas toda vez que ela vai mostrá-lo a alguém, ele desaparece e todos pensam que ela está tendo alucinações.

Mas será que são mesmo alucinações?

É uma ideia genial? Sim! Poderia ser melhor? Poderia, mas o livro é ok, só meio curtinho demais - na minha humilde opinião.
