Perfume IS an essencial: Here’s 4 reasons why
Good Afternoon Dear Reader! Happy Saturday directly from Argentina
Before we dive into today's topic, I wanted to talk briefly about why these "practical" and lighter and style blog posts are JUST as important as the heart-felt blogs on heavier topics and more practical ones like organization, cooking and cleaning tips
This blog is a place where I am trying to gather useful information to help us grow as feminine women, whether that is in our hearts, our homes, our lives, or even in our own skin. I believe in a well-rounded growth perspective: I am trying to improve many areas of my life, even if they are just practical and simple.
So today I wanted to talk about one of these more "practical and simple" topics: perfume.
At first glance this topic can seem kind of boring, like "yeah, no one likes smelling bad, so wear perfume, DUH." But I think perfume is so much more than that!
I believe that a spritz of perfume can actually improve your day, your confidence, and your overall aura as a feminine woman.
***DISCLAIMER: I know that smells can trigger allergic reactions in people, and there are actually fragrance-free zones such as certain churches or work environments. Do not break those rules just to follow my advice LOL!
The women jn my life were always had a passion from perfumery and I remember using it even as a child, but I only started being interested in it during my teenage years and in the past my interest and collection only grew. But I remember that during times of intense sadness in my life, I understand that something simple as even filling in your eyebrows can be a completely exhausting task! So much personal care falls off your daily routine when you can't handle what life is throwing at you and I think that adding perfume to your routine can be an easy way to elevate your grooming.
In order to really stick to this habit, I decided to focus on WHY I should wear perfume. So here we go! This may convince you too.
1. Perfume Adds LUXURY To Life
I know what some of you may be thinking: "I'm just at home, and deodorant is good enough for me!" or "I'm just in an office chair, why do I need to smell amazing?" and finally, "I'm just going to work out later so it doesn't matter!"
You know what I say to all those reasons?
You are an amazing woman and you deserve to have a little extra luxury in your day, even if you are behind a vacuum, a computer, or a treadmill.
Most of us aren't going to be lounging on a velvet chaise with champagne and a cashmere blanket wrapped around us tonight anyways! We're not living that lux life, so why not add extra luxury into our days?
When you're vacuuming the house or reading through spreadsheets, it can be easy to feel like cinderella BEFORE she went to the ball. A fragrance reminds you that you are an elegant, feminine WOMAN, and that you are WORTHY of a little luxury.
So pick up a fragrance you love, (doesn't have to be costly,) and indulge! You are WORTHY of that extra 10 seconds on yourself.
2. Perfume Can Make You HAPPIER!
So today I was spritzing on some body spray when I realized that I had a soft smile on my face. Seriously: I was just smiling to myself! Sol de Janeiro cheirosa 71 (my newest obsession! ) evokes a reaction of pleasure: it makes me smile.
Do you remember learning about the senses in school? They can evoke emotion, thoughts, feelings, and action. Touch can make you take action when you feel pain. Taste evokes pleasure when you encounter delicious food. Likewise, smell can evoke pleasant emotion or distaste.
If there was a little life hack that could have you smiling 2 more times a day than you already do, wouldn't you do it? Fragrance is SUCH simple way to accomplish this!
And a bonus? When you smell good, other people notice! I LOVE when my husband tells me I smell good, or when a friend goes in for a hug and comments that she loves the smell I'm wearing. Smelling good feels GOOD!
3. Perfume Helps You Get in Touch With FEMININITY
When I was a kid, Id watch every morning my mom and grandma get ready and wear their favorite perfumes ( that I have the smell in my memory to this day). I made a promise to myself that when I became a woman at the age of I would begin doing 3 things EVERY DAY: wearing lipstick, carrying a stylish purse, and wearing perfume.
I think I knew, even as a child, that perfume was for women. Full grown, feminine, gracious, beautiful women. Adding fragrance to your routine is a way of stepping into that feminine womanhood and embracing yourself.
Perfume can also be especially helpful for women who are kind of uncomfortable with their femininity. You can begin exploring the possibilities with just a small change. Add a bit of mystery, femininity, sweetness, or glamour to ANY outfit. Elevate your look and tip toe into femininity with a fragrance. Pair a ponytail and sneakers with some vanilla body spray: you might be surprised at how it makes you smile!
4. Perfume Helps You EXPRESS Yourself
I truly believe that the sense of smell is neglected in our modern culture. We are MUCH more focused on the visuals of our beauty routine: hair, fashion, makeup, etc. And why? Well, you can't smell a picture on Instagram! Why invest in something so small when no one can really experience it? Who cares about smell?
Well, maybe we SHOULD care! When you meet someone, you are taking them in through a lot of the senses: a firm handshake, the visuals of their face, the way their voice sounds, and yes, THEIR SMELL!
When you go out into the world, think about the entire picture of you as a person: your smell, your style, your "vibe." What is your overall aura? Perfume can help you add a dimension of creative expression to your overall vibe and style. Express yourself!
***Bonus tip: Hydration is essential for perfume performance and it starts from the inside by drinking enough water and continues with applying lotion before your perfume. (Even better if you can do it post shower when your skin is still a bit damp). Some people also apply a small bit of vaseline or petroleum jelly to your wrists and neck (the pulse regions) before you spray. It helps your scent last longer!
And closing, perfume can add luxury to our day, help us feel happy, help us get in touch with femininity, and allow us to express ourselves! What's not to love?
xoxo

Design Your Dream: 7 Unexpected Interior Ideas That Will Change Your Home Forever
When it comes to designing your dream home, it's easy to fall into familiar patterns—neutral colors, minimalist furniture, and predictable layouts. But the truth is, your space should reflect your personality and offer surprises that ignite creativity and comfort. In this post, we’ll explore 7 unexpected interior design ideas that can transform your home in ways you may not have imagined. These ideas will not only elevate your space but also make it uniquely yours. Ready for some home transformation? Let’s dive in!

1. The Power of Hidden Storage: Embrace Sleek, Invisible Organization
We all crave a clutter-free environment, but sometimes the visible storage options can take up more space or create unnecessary visual noise. Enter the world of hidden storage.
Imagine having a bookshelf that doubles as a door to your home office, or under-bed drawers that blend seamlessly with the floor. Custom cabinetry that slides open with the touch of a button, or even secret compartments built into the walls, can work wonders for tidying up your home without sacrificing aesthetic appeal. This design idea isn't just about decluttering—it's about creating a sense of intrigue and mystery in your own space.
Tip: Consider incorporating multi-functional furniture, such as an ottoman that opens to reveal extra blankets or a coffee table with concealed storage underneath. The possibilities are endless!
2. Bold Color Blocking: Color as Architecture
While many people opt for subtle tones and harmonious color palettes, color blocking is making a comeback as a way to bring energy and a sense of architectural structure to interiors. Whether you decide to use contrasting colors on the walls, or introduce color blocks through furniture and accessories, the result is a bold and modern statement.
By creating distinct "zones" in a room with different colors, you can guide the eye and add dynamic visual interest to your space. This technique works especially well in open-plan homes, where defining areas (like a dining nook or a cozy reading corner) helps create balance and structure.
Tip: Don’t shy away from bright hues like cobalt blue, burnt orange, or even mustard yellow! These tones work wonderfully in kitchens, living rooms, and even bathrooms. Experiment with vertical or horizontal lines to shape your space.
3. Textural Contrast: Mixing Materials for Maximum Impact
The interplay of different textures is one of the simplest yet most effective ways to elevate your interiors. Imagine pairing a sleek, polished marble countertop with a rugged reclaimed wood dining table or soft velvet cushions on a modern leather couch. This combination of smooth, rough, shiny, and matte surfaces creates a dynamic atmosphere that feels inviting yet sophisticated.
The key to mastering texture is balance. Too many rough surfaces can overwhelm the senses, while too many smooth or plush elements can make a space feel one-dimensional. Mixing textures thoughtfully can create depth, warmth, and personality in any room.
Tip: Pair natural materials like wood, stone, or clay with luxe finishes such as brass or glass for an elegant yet grounded feel.
4. Unexpected Art Installations: Wall Sculptures and Floating Galleries
We’re all familiar with traditional framed paintings or photographs, but what if your walls could tell a more interactive or sculptural story? Wall art doesn’t have to be confined to a frame or canvas. Consider incorporating 3D sculptures, oversized woven tapestries, or even repurposed materials that hang or project from the walls.
Floating galleries, where frames are arranged in unexpected places (such as along the edge of a staircase or mounted on vertical rods), can transform a dull wall into a dynamic focal point. These installations draw the eye and bring a playful, creative vibe to the space.
Tip: Play with asymmetry! Arranging artwork in an intentionally non-symmetrical fashion can make the space feel more casual and contemporary.

5. Statement Ceilings: The Fifth Wall
While the floor and walls get most of the attention, the ceiling—the "fifth wall"—offers an often-overlooked opportunity for design innovation. Add drama by painting your ceiling in a bold color, using wallpaper with intricate patterns, or even installing wood panels or tiles.
In spaces with high ceilings, consider hanging pendant lighting or dramatic chandeliers to create depth and contrast. For rooms with lower ceilings, reflective or light colors can open up the space and make it feel more expansive.
Tip: In smaller spaces like bathrooms or entryways, a richly detailed ceiling can make the area feel more luxurious without crowding the room with extra furniture.
6. Indoor-Outdoor Flow: Nature Inside
As we spend more time indoors, connecting our living spaces with the natural world is becoming increasingly important. One unexpected way to do this is by integrating natural elements into your interior design. Large plants, vertical gardens, and even living walls can bring a sense of calm and serenity.
Sliding doors, large windows, or even a cleverly designed indoor-outdoor room that extends into the garden or patio can enhance this connection to nature. Imagine lounging in your living room while looking out onto a lush garden or a beautifully landscaped patio—this blurred line between indoors and outdoors creates a seamless, tranquil living experience.
Tip: Choose plants that thrive in low light for bedrooms and hallways, and larger statement plants like fiddle-leaf figs for living areas to create visual interest and purify the air.
7. Transformative Lighting: Beyond the Ordinary
Lighting is often an afterthought in interior design, but it’s one of the most powerful tools you can use to change the mood and perception of a room. Instead of relying solely on overhead lights, experiment with layered lighting—table lamps, sconces, and floor lamps positioned to create depth, texture, and ambiance.
Incorporate unique fixtures like pendant lights in unexpected places (e.g., above a bathtub or a dining area), or use colored lighting to make a space feel warm and inviting. You can even make a bold statement with smart lighting systems that change the atmosphere with just a tap on your phone.
Tip: Consider using dimmable lights to adjust the mood based on time of day or occasion, and place lights strategically to highlight artwork or design features.
Final Thoughts: Transforming Your Space, One Idea at a Time
Your home is a reflection of you—your personality, style, and values. By incorporating these unexpected interior design ideas into your space, you’re not just decorating a room; you’re creating an environment that sparks creativity, comfort, and joy. Don’t be afraid to step outside the traditional design box and embrace new concepts that challenge conventional norms.
Remember, the beauty of interior design lies in its flexibility and the ability to make a space uniquely your own. So, take a leap and start implementing these unexpected ideas—you might just find that your dream home is closer than you think.

A SNIPPET OF MY STORY
(This part is old, and in need of a few tweaks)
The streets were bustling with people trying to go somewhere. It had a grim look, rotting plants, broken windows, starving children, and stray cats roaming around. Kids would be seen on the road, begging for a bite of your muffin or a nibble. You may wonder, where are their parents? Yeah, a few starving kids might be normal, but not this amount to where they could fill an office building. Well, in recent years it is no longer required to care for your children.You can dump them on the side of the road like they are garbage. Worth nothing.
Here we are, with Luxina. Her hair is unkempt and overgrown due to being kicked out at the age of 10, 5 years ago. Her warm ivory skin glowed in the harsh sunlight, beating on her sweaty face. Luxina, also known as Lux, hands were cupped and begging for some food or even better, money. Soon the hooded eyes her own mother gave her were filled with tears.
She was one of the older ones, she couldn't cry in front of the younglings. Lux ran off to a corner to sob her sorrows away. Her hands entangled in her black messy hair. Weeps of sadness were muffled by the fear of being heard.
“Hey kiddo, what's wrong?”
A man knelt to Luxinas height, his shaggy black hair falling in his warm and caring eyes. Ivory skin with a few rough marks of mud, wide set eyes full of concern, and his lips curved into a frown. He hated seeing people sad, especially somebody so youthful.
“I- i hate living like this. . .” She managed to say through her sobs.
The man pulled her into a comforting hug, not wanting to see her in this poor state. His arms gave her a warm feeling of hope, hope of her life getting better. She quickly returned the hug while sobbing into the strange, yet kind, man's shoulder. The two stayed like this for a good five minutes before Luxina pulled back.
“My name is Zyon, by the way. What’s yours?” The man offers her a hand to stand her up.
“Luxina, but you can just call me Lux.” She sniffled as she stood up.
Zyon looked at her with eyes full of concern and fatherly care. He may have just met the girl, but he already felt protective over her. He couldn't leave this young girl alone in the streets, not when he and his roommates had room to take care of others. He tilted his head and a soft smile grew on his face.
“Alright then. Lux, I know this may be a strange and creepy looking offer, but do you want to live with me and my friends? I know, I know, it sounds creepy. Rest assured that it isn't supposed to be that way.” He gave a soft chuckle. “I just dont stand for what the government is doing to you guys. Pushing you away and making young people fend for their own. It isn't right.”
Luxina paused. She didn't know how to feel about this sudden offer. Yeah, it did sound creepy the way he said it, but they needed the help. Maybe… no! It would be idiotic to accept help from a stranger, but he is a kind stranger. He isn't like the other adults who spat or kicked at her sobbing, he hugged her.
“I do want to. After all, I need any help I can get.” Luxina decided while fiddling with her fingers, worried if she made a bad choice.
Zyon nods and leads her the way to his shared apartment, which was an old building that ran for $1000 rent, so he obviously took it. It was a decent place, well it was decent when they fixed it all up. It had the bare minimum, running water, lights, sleeping areas, and a stable roof. He was determined to get this girl a caring household. She obviously needs help and a home, and he was gonna give it.
This is all that has been published so far, but more is hopefully coming soon. Here is the link, hope you like it !!

It was quiet out here. Wherever this new acquaintance had led them to, Shyvana liked it much better than the city. She only ever felt this free when on duty outside the city of Demacia, near the border & such —— it was almost strange to feel it elsewhere.
❛ Where are we? ❜
Shyvana looks around, tilting her head from side to side as she does. She stretches out on her way over to sit on a nearby rock, making herself comfortable on the sun warmed surface.

The Anchor – Chapter 21
Stephen Strange X Reader
Summary: Every Sorcerer Supreme has an anchor. Someone whose magic is compatible with theirs, ensures that he is additionally protected and prevents him from falling prey to evil forces. You grew up in Kamar-Taj and studied the Mystic Arts there, but then you traveled the world looking for a more quiet life, a life away from magic and superheroes. When you return and meet the new Sorcerer Supreme, it soon becomes clear that you share a special connection.
Tags: Slow Burn, Reader is a master of the Mystic Arts, Magic!Reader, spells and magic, Stephen can be a dick, angst, fluff, all the stuff you love

Chapter’s Notes: A rather short chapter this week. There will be more action in the next one. Beta by the lovely @zaria-04
Chapter 21: Liquida Lux
You're standing on the edge of a glacial lake somewhere in the far north, breathing in the clear, cold air. It's early morning, the sun peeks shyly over the horizon, giving you just a little more time.
You haven't spoken a word, Since you got up an hour ago, avoiding anyone who might have addressed one to you.
Silence is essential.
Wong told you about the different types of liquid light and about their qualities. For your purposes, the soft morning sun in the cold is best.
It is calm, inconspicuous, but has incredible depth.
You look at the high mountains surrounding the lake and the nearby forest that stands out darkly from the otherwise snow-covered landscape.
The sun rises higher and you continue your way.
The Feather Boots carry you over the surface of the water and you walk towards the bright circle of sun reflection without causing a single ripple.
You stop at the reflection.
From the pocket dimension you take out a bulbous vessel made of dark glass with a wide opening and let it float in the air beside you. Right next to it a book appears, which opens on its own.
Once the sun has fully risen above the horizon and the circle on the water is completed, you begin the ritual.
The instructions are long, but easy to follow.
A long, glowing orange ribbon appears in the air, splitting, twisting and turning around itself. Then the trailing ends begin to dissolve into glistening light. The ribbons rise up into the sky and you have to concentrate to keep control.
Then they suddenly hurtle downwards, plunging silently into the water.
You reach for the glass vessel and dip it into the sun's reflection. The image briefly disappears from the surface and then reappears somewhat blurred.
You close the jar with a cork and then send it away together with the book.
When you get back home, you would find out if it really worked.
You meet with Stephen in Kamar-Taj for a dinner date.
He's running a little late and you sit down in a courtyard, enjoying the last rays of the local evening sun. It's a warm spring day and the birds are building nests in the big tree that stands in the middle of the courtyard.
At this time of day, this place is not particularly busy. Only a few, small groups of people sit together or walk by nearby. You know most of the faces by now, many by name. But they all know you. They know about your position and with whom you work in the Sanctum Sanctorum.
Today you don't feel like mingling, so you keep to yourself and only occasionally return a greeting with a nodding smile.
Unfortunately, you’re used to Stephen keeping you waiting. He has a lot to do and is very busy; you understand that. Still, sometimes it seems to you that time in general has no meaning to him. He is aware that it passes, but his understanding of it is different. And every now and then he forgets about it completely and is very surprised when you show up and tell him that you two had a date an hour ago.
It's not always easy. You try to be patient, even though it's sometimes hard for you. But he always apologizes and tries to make it up to you with small attention. You guess that's all you can expect from someone you have to share with the whole world and then some.
You look up when Stephen steps out of the building and approaches. You have to shield your eyes with your hand from the sun. He looks good in his blue robe.
You greet each other with a kiss on the cheek. You've decided to keep your relationship private and to handle it professionally in the field of work, which includes Kamar-Taj and the two sanctums in Hong Kong and London. Of course, that doesn't mean it has to remain a secret.
If people had always given you curious looks in the past because you are the Sorcerer Supreme and the Anchor, this has now intensified. But people respectfully keep their distance, which you're glad about.
You leave the courtyard together with Stephen.
"I hope you haven’t been waiting for long", he says as an implied apology about the delay.
"I've been enjoying the weather. It's about time there’s summer in New York, too."
It's still quite cold for this time of year in New York. While the rooms in the Sanctum are always kept at a comfortable temperature, you're tired of all the rain in the last weeks.
"I heard about a good weather spell the other day that I could try," he offers, but you shrug it off.
"It's not that bad. Yet."
As you two step through the large gateway out of the temple complex, you magically change your robes for clothes more appropriate for a stroll through the city. While Mystic Arts students or even monks in a variety of robes are not an uncommon sight in Kathmandu, you prefer to appear like locals.
The streets you walk along are narrow and winding and after a while lead to a larger square.
During the day there's a market for farmers. In the evening, small pubs spread out from the buildings around the square with tables and chairs, some simply made of old barrels or crates. Music is played at several corners, accompanied by drinking, dancing and laughing.
At a small food stall, you two get rice with vegetables, which looks kinda questionable. But it tastes really good.
You sit down on a bench not far away and enjoy your meal. A small conversation develops around nothing in particular. It's just nice to sit here and spend the evening with Stephen by your side
As you finish your portion, you lean against his shoulder and watch the people in the square.
"Do you miss this kind of life?", Stephen asks you, pointing at the people who have no idea about the existence of magic or dark forces.
"No," you reply with a shake of your head. "Not if it meant I didn't know you."
He kisses you on the top of your hair.
You stay there for a little while longer because the atmosphere is just too nice to leave already.
As night falls and it gets dark, oil lanterns are lit, bathing the square in a warm light. It’s like you’re sitting in a different time. It is crowded and busy like in Western cities, but there is a certain serenity in everything, a depth that has often been lost to people elsewhere.
Eventually it gets cooler and you decide to return home.
"Let's get some food for Wong, too," you say and stop by a stall to get some take away. You know he's fond of the local food.
In New York, rain greets you at noon. A little annoyed, you look out through the big round window.
"Maybe we should move the Sanctum," you ponder aloud. "Mexico is supposed to be really nice right now."
"We'd have to recreate the entire protection spell around the world. That would be inefficient."
Sometimes you're not sure if Stephen says these things in jest or would really follow through. "I know." Sighing, you step away from the window and the gray outside. There are some things you just can’t do anything about.
Stephen wraps his arms around you and buries his nose in the crook of your neck.
"We might as well get cozy in bed. I know something I could distract you with," he suggests.
You turn in his embrace, playfully pretending to think about his offer. "Hmm... I actually have a few more studies waiting for me. So it should be a pretty good distraction…"
Stephen leans toward you as if to kiss you, but pauses a few inches from your lips. "I've been reading up on some magical techniques we could try out. So it would be both a distraction and study."
"In that case...already convinced," you grin and want to steal a kiss, but he's quicker and pulls away.
"Then I'll see you back at my place in a bit. You should bring Wong his food first." With a wink, he turns and walks away.
Your grin widens a bit more and you turn the other way. Wong isn't in the library, so you just set his bag down in the kitchen and label it with his name. Then you follow Stephen to his room.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
having a boyfriend who works in the FBI isn’t all rainbows and sunshine. Because of his job, Dr.Spencer Reid was always either gone on a case or working on cases at home. he could be doing it in the office, but spencer was a sweet guy and made a middle ground to see his girlfriend more. he was just as passionate about her as he was with his job, calling her every night when he was away, making sure to treat her when he got back or when he was done for the day. he made sure she knew she was important to him, which wasn’t something she ever felt from a guy who was a workaholic.
today was just like every other day. spencer got to do case files at home as there was no case as of then. Y/n tried her best to take care of him while working, as a return of the favor. She made him his favorite waffles that morning and even made him a fresh cup of coffee just the way he likes it-a cup of sugar with coffee to mix. He kissed her on the forehead, convinced that he didn’t deserve her. once he was done he went straight to work. In a way, y/n pretty much worked with him as his personal Penelope Garcia, as he was an old man when it came to computers.
it was lunchtime at this point. y/n walked into his office and stood in the door frame, watching his fingers move down the page in his book as he read. his fingers made her melt, and he knew that. clouds began to form in her head as thoughts of what he could do with this fingers took hold of her. she didn’t even notice he was wanting her attention as he snapped her out of her daydreams with a snap of his fingers.
“Bubs, are you ok?” spencer asked. he was still at his desk, his finger placed at the spot he was at. you looked back at him from his finger, noticing what he was wearing and it wasn’t helping your case at all. while he was wearing his favorite maroon cardigan that he thrifted (still lux though as it was ralph lauren), he also wore a pair of grey sweatpants. clever of him for the moments he had to video chat with people.
you were quickly out of your thoughts yet again as you felt your body move without you knowing before. you walked towards him as he turned his chair to your side. you noticed he was half hard in his pants, as the imprint of himself showed through. you sat on his lap and ran your fingers through your hair, peppering kisses below his ear. he chuckled, thinking you were being cute, but you were just getting started.
“it’s lunchtime bubs.” you whispered as you softly grind against him.
spencer put his hands on your his after guiding your body to straddle him. he guides them as his lips touch yours. “good,” he said in between kisses, gently rubbing circles over your shorts in the place you wanted him most, “i’m starving.”
not only was spencer the sweetest, softest man you’ve ever met, but he was also the sexiest and dirtiest. he was rough like a wild bear but soft as a teddy bear-taking such good care of you after he ruined you to filth. no one would ever believe the things you two have done together in the past year. no one would especially believe what happened today.
as spencer’s about to slide his hand down your shorts, his phone rang. he groan softly under his breath as his right hand left your side to grab his phone. you were a little annoyed at first, but once he put the phone to his ear, an idea popped into your head.
“hey hotch...” he said. you slowly leaned down and went back to the spot below his ear, sucking and nibbling it softly.
this wasn’t something new to the both of you. it was a fun little game you’d play if either of phones rang while you were in the middle of it, seeing how long they could last at acting normal. by now, spencer had got the hang of it and made it easy for him when it was any of his coworkers. today, however, he was almost struggling.
you heard other voices on the phone as well. you could tell by how low they all sounded that it was 3 of the men on his team.
“yeah, i was um...about to have lunch.”
you decided to try and break him a little, sucking a little bit harder.
“can i call y-“ a soft moan left his lips, cutting him off his sentence. his eyes bulged out of his head as his mouth fell open. you quickly coughed in a lower tone to help him out, trying not to laugh.
“yeah, luke i’m fine,” he said, “just stubbed my toe....shut up morgan!”
you giggled softly to yourself, but not softly enough. you heard laughing from his phone and realized you were busted.
“hi boys!” you said, jokingly sounding seductive.
spencer gave you a look that said ‘are you kidding me?’ which made you giggle even more. you hear morgan on the other end say, “aww, did we interrupt your lunch?”
“yeah, you did! we were just about to get started.”
spencer placed the phone back to his ear, taking a deep breath before speaking. “look seriously can we-“
he paused, listening to whoever was talking. slowly, spencer removed the phone from his ear and covered it with his shoulder. he looked unsure of himself, as if he was trying to gather the courage to speak.
“bubs,” he said weakly, “do you um...uh..d-do you want to...have the phone on speaker?”
you thought for a moment. you were always secretly into things like this, but never told spencer because you thought he would find it weird. but seeing him look kind of into it didn’t help the puddle forming in your shorts.
“you don’t have to if you don’t want to. whatever your comfortable with!”
you thought for one more moment before taking his phone out of his hands and putting it on speaker for him, setting it down on his desk. he looks at you confused.
“let’s put on a show for your coworkers, daddy.”
“ooooo coming in with the big guns already!” said Luke.
“y/n does not play.” said Hotch.
Spencer was frozen in his tracks. he couldn’t believe the words coming out of their mouths, let alone what was going on.
“well come on then daddy, give us a show! my popcorn is getting cold.” teased morgan.
spencer rolled his eyes at morgan before his lips attacked yours. you continued your grinding on him, this time he was grinding back. you moaned through the kiss as his hands went back in your shorts, rubbing circles on your clit.
“oh wow, spencer got a girl to moan like that!” said Morgan.
“is he making you feel good, hun?” asked hotch.
“fuck yesssss!” you let out a long moan as spencer moved faster with his motions. he let out a groan and cursed under his breath. you felt his pressed under your thigh and that made you try to hold in how turned on you really were. you held on for dear life on the armrests of his chair as he leaned back a little bit.
“are you getting close, baby girl?” asked morgan.
“yes yes yes fuuuck daddy please let me cum.”
“you wanna cum for me, angel?” asked spencer.
“yes omg please i’m so fucking close!”
“cum for him, princess.” said Luke.
before you could fall down the hill like on a roller coaster, you felt incomplete as he took his fingers out. you let out a little whine, letting the guys know he didn’t let you cum.
“ooooo doctor genius over there didn’t let her cum, how sad.” teased Luke.
“what are you going to do now?” asked Hotch.
“because she’s about to get fucked and really show you how much of slut she truly is. well, MY slut at least.”
spencer took his painfully hard cock out as you moved your shorts to the side. you felt the head enter you and shortly his whole length was slammed deep inside you before you even make a sound. you let out a quiet gasp before a loud moan escaped from your throat.
he let you adjust, but only for a short moment as he quickly began pounding you, holding you from your ass. you were a moaning mess at this point, letting out more dramatic, pornographic ones for the guys.
“fuck he’s really an animal isnt he?” teased Hotch.
“you like being pounded like a dirty slut?” asked Luke.
you moaned out a yes, but it wasn’t enough for them.
“use your words, baby girl.” said Morgan.
“i love being pounded like a dirty slut!”
“tell them who’s slut you are.” spencer growled.
you held onto him from behind his head and pushed his face in between your tits. “i’m you’re slut, spencer,” you moaned, “i’m daddy’s little slut!”
“you’re such a good girl, y/n.” said Hotch.
“fuck daddy can i cum? please let me cum ive been a good girl!”
“what do you think?” spencer asked.
“cum, baby girl.” said morgan
“cum for him, princess.” said Luke.
“cum hard all over his cock, baby.” said Hotch.
you finally came all over his cock, screaming as the pleasure surged through your body. spencer helped you ride out your orgasm and let you catch your breath.
“holy shit” said Luke.
“oh we’re not done yet,” said spencer, “she deserves a reward for doing so well.”
he takes you off his cock and makes you stand up, flipping you around so you were in front of him, your ass sticking out. he quickly put his cock back inside of you and luke and morgan cheered on. he pounds you harder this time, making sure you lose your voice by the time you’re done.
“youre such a dirty slut,” spencer growled, taking a handful of your hair and pulling it, “letting me fuck you over the phone with not just my friends, my coworkers. you like putting on a show for people? you want people to know how much of a fucking slut you are for me?”
your eyes rolled to the back of your head at his words. the pure filth in them almost pushing you off the edge as you squeezed around his cock. even the guys grew silent.
“fuck keep doing that angel, keep squeezing daddy’s cock like tha-shit im close. you want my cum inside you?”
“oh my god yes please, i want to be full of your cum daddy!”
hearing you say those words through him over the edge as you feel him filling you up, hearing him moan your name and cursing under his breath. he stayed inside you for a bit before he caught his breath and left to go get something to clean you up with. when he comes back he looks at you sitting in front of him, watching his cum drip out of you and onto his work chair. he wasn’t even mad about it.
“you did so good, bubs.” he says, walking over and kneeling in front you before cleaning you up.
“you were amazing, baby!” you say. he comes back up and kisses you, and it was hard to break away. but somehow you did after what felt like hours and laughed at yourselves for what you just did. you then remembered they were still on the phone. spencer grabs his phone and faces it towards them.
“well? how was the show?” you asked.
“holy-“
“fuck.” luke cut morgan off.
you had left them speechless before hotch finally spoke up.
“....we will not speak of this at work.”
Take Me By The Hand
-
harry lewis x fem!reader
-
requested: Heyy, could you do the ‘take my hand’ concept that you did with JJ, but with Harry?? Love your writing sm! Xxx
please see my pinned post for masterlist and request info!
One taking the others hand to help them up
You were 4 when you first met Harry properly. You’d been running around the playground, chasing after one of your friends when you’d taken a tumble and ended up in a small heap on the floor. Harry had come trotting over, sticking out a hand to help you up.
“Is your knee okay?”, he asked you.
“I don’t think so. It’s bleeding”, you told him sadly.
Harry kept hold of your hand, dragging you over to where the teachers on duty were standing. “She hurt her knee”, Harry said bluntly, poking one of the adults and then pointing to your knee.
Harry followed you and the teacher inside, sitting next to you as you had your knee cleaned and a plaster stuck on. The teacher left to fill in the accident book and write a note for you to take home. “I’m Harry”, the boy said as soon as she’d left.
“I’m Y/N”, you told him with a bright grin.
“Shall we be best friends?”, Harry asked with a toothy smile.
“Yes!”.
-
Holding hands whilst one walks on a small wall
You and Harry had stayed best friends from that day forward. There wasn’t anything that you didn’t do together. Harry would always be the first person you’d turn to whenever anything was wrong. He held your hand through every trip you took to the first aid room in your primary school and he shouldered his way through to sit next to you whenever you were in a classroom together.
Harry asked you out on your first date when you were both 15. You’d gone to his house after school, pestering him until he did his homework before you let him outside. He’d been pacing around the lawn in front of you, completely distracted from his kickaround with Josh, as you sat on the deck with Rosie.
“What’s wrong with him?”, she asked from beside you.
“I have no idea”, you told her. “You know what he’s like though”, you dismissed, all the while worrying about your best friend.
Rosie and Josh ran inside 20 minutes later to help set the table for dinner, leaving you and Harry alone in the back garden. “Are you gonna tell me what’s up with you?”, you asked him.
“Do you wanna go on a date?”, Harry blurted, leaving you stunned. The two of you were wide-eyed in surprise, both with words caught in your throat that you were desperately trying to say.
“Yeah”, you smiled.
A week later you met Harry by the beach. You’d seen each other through the week during school and spending the evenings after school together, but this evening felt different. This evening would be the one that potentially changed yours and Harry’s relationship forever.
You walked side by side down to the sea front, stopping and sitting on a small wall there. The two of you talked for hours, like you always did. Harry telling you about his family, about what happened in the few classes that you didn’t share together, telling you about his day and you returning the favour. You laughed well into the sunset, a soft silence falling over you as you watched the sun dip beneath the Guernsey horizon.
“It’s getting dark, and it’s cold. Let’s head back”, Harry suggested. As soon as you’d stood up, you stepped up onto the wall you’d just been sitting on, making you ever so slightly taller than Harry. With your arms held out for balance, you took a few tentative steps.
Harry reached out, grabbing your hand to keep you steady. You looked over to him, a shy smile on his face that you soon mirrored, paired with a rosy blush. Harry kept your hands entwined as you walked along the wall, matching his pace with yours so he didn’t rush you and cause you to stumble.
When you reached the end of the wall and jumped down, your hand didn’t leave Harry’s.
-
Holding hands whilst driving
Harry had never let whatever Youtube success he was gaining get in the way of the two of you. He always made time for you, always made you feel important. As soon as he’d learnt to drive and got a car, you and Harry would spend hours traversing the coastline, wind pouring into the window and billowing through your hair as you watched the cliffs and waves pass you by.
If you were in his car, Harry would insist on you being in the passenger seat, no matter who else was joining you. His hand would always rest on your thigh as he drove, only ever moving to change gear before quickly returning to its place.
Your fingers were wrapped loosely in his, making sure he was able to let go and reach for the gear stick whenever he needed to. The roads along the coastline were fairly straight, only ever bending slightly and no sharp turns in sight.
With the road empty bar from the two of you, Harry snuck a glance over to you. Your face was illuminated by the soft glow of the sun, hair windswept against the headrest and over your shoulders.
“I love you”, Harry said simply. It was no massive declaration, it didn’t have to be. You and Harry had been friends for 13 years, together for nearly 2. He’d loved you for as long as he could remember.
“I love you, too”.
-
Possessive hand holding
The first time you visited Harry in London was quite the nerve wracking experience. Aside from helping him move his stuff into his flat with Lux and Freezy, you’d barely seen him since he’d left the small island you both called home.
You waited by baggage claim, leg shaking with restless, nervous energy. It was just your luck that your suitcase was one of the last to make its way through and round the conveyor belt, the hall almost empty by the time you’d got your belongings.
Harry was waiting for you just outside arrivals, just as restless and nervous as you were. His eyes had been glued to the door from the minute you’d text him to let you know you’d reached baggage claim. Every person that walked out of the sliding doors that wasn’t you irritated him even further. It had only been a few weeks since he’d last seen you, and he was going mad.
At last, you trudged through the doors, looking a little worse for wear and incredibly pissed off. But you were there.
Harry wrapped his arms around you, holding you tight against his chest. “I’ve missed you so much”, he whispered into your hair. “The guys are already at my place, I hope that’s alright”, he told you. “They’re really excited to meet you”.
At Harry’s apartment building, he kept a tight hold on your hand as he led you upstairs. “Harry, it’s okay”, you assured him, squeezing his hand.
“Just nervous”, he told you.
Harry led you into the apartment, pausing for a second so you could drop your case by the door and kick your shoes off. His deathly tight grip on your hand never waned, like he was scared you were going to escape.
“Lads, Y/N”, Harry said awkwardly as he led you through the doorway. “Y/N, both of the Cals, Ethan, JJ, Simon, Josh, Tobi and Vik”, he introduced, pointing to each man in turn as he said their names.
“Nice to meet you”, you smiled happily.
You sat next to Harry on the sofa, squeezed up against his side. His hand was still gripping onto yours, squeezing tighter whenever any of the guys started to talk to you. “Harry”, you whispered, wiggling your fingers in his grip. “What’s wrong?”.
“Someone looks a little jealous if you ask me”, Freezy poked, wicked grin shooting across the living room.
“Oh, give over”, you scoffed, flicking Harry in the chest. “You buffoon. There’s nothing to worry about. Now ease up, you’re cutting off blood flow to my fingers”, you teased.
-
Rubbing their thumb over the other’s hand
“I don’t wanna leave”, you sighed, leaning further into Harry’s chest. “I miss you too much”, you whispered.
“I miss you, too”, he told you, wrapping both arms around your body and pulling you closer.
Harry watched over your shoulder as you opened your phone and pulled up flight times for a few weeks time, scrolling through them to find the cheapest option. Seeing Harry as often as possible was taking its toll on your finances and Harry knew you’d only accept so much help from him.
“What if this was the last time you flew home?”, Harry asked into your hair.
“What do you mean?”, you asked, thumb pausing over the screen.
“I spoke to Cal about it the other day, before you came”, Harry started. “How would you feel about moving to London?”, he asked.
You turned in his arms, facing Harry. “Are you being serious?”, you asked, a blossoming grin eager to bloom over your face.
“As I’ve ever been”, he whispered.
3 weeks later, you waited at the gate in Guernsey airport, surrounded by your family. “I’m so happy for you”, your mum whispered as she pulled you in for a tight hug. When she pulled back, you were both laughing through the tears that had begun to shed. “You and Harry deserve to be happy”, she told you.
They watched and waved as you walked towards the flight bridge, knowing that this would be the last time they’d see you for a while. You sat in your seat, watching as Guernsey got smaller and smaller below you. Although leaving home was never going to be an easy thing, you knew that you could build a home wherever Harry was.
You’d already shipped a lot of your stuff over to Harry, leaving you only to bring a large suitcase with you on your flight. You had no idea what to expect when you arrived, whether your stuff would be in Harry’s room or boxes strewn into whatever corner of the apartment they could fit into.
“Here”, Harry said as you sat in the car in the car park outside of the apartment building. He handed you a key on a keyring. “House keys”, he told you.
“Thank you”, you smiled
Harry pulled your case behind you as you walked up to the apartment. You stilled in front of the door, Harry pulling to a stop next to you. “Are you okay?”, Harry asked, voice filled with concern.
“Yeah”, you assured him quietly. “It’s just a lot, y’know”, you murmured.
“I know”. Harry’s thumb skimmed across the back of your hand in a soft, repetitive, soothing pattern. “I love you”, he reminded you, thumb never halting its soft reassurance against your skin.
“I know”, you smiled up at him. “But I love you more”.
-
Unconsciously searching for the other’s hand whilst asleep
If you were to ask Harry when he knew you’d be in his life forever, he’d have told you when the two of you were 5. Teasing from the other kids about you being best friends with each other was almost never-ending, but you and Harry always found a way to make light of it.
It wasn’t uncommon to see you and Harry playing with the dolls amongst the other little girls or racing around through the mud with the other boys. Everyone quickly learnt that where Harry went, you went and where you went, Harry went.
Harry knew you were going to be his bestest friend forever when he’d sat down on the grass to play and realised that there were no toys left. You’d come and sat down next to him and you’d played in the mud together, making daisy chains and mud pies and potions that you stirred with sticks, never caring about the dirt coating your pretty pinafore dress.
If you were to ask Harry when he knew that your relationship was meant to last, he would fumble and stumble over his words, not really knowing what to say. It was something that brought his friends great joy, asking what he saw in the future for the two of you. After all, you had been together since you were 15.
The night Harry realised you were his one great love was rather anti-climatic. There was no fireworks or mind-blowing kiss or Earth shattering sex. In fact, you were curled up asleep next to Harry, hair piled on top of your head and the hem of one of his Sidemen Clothing shirts riding up on your thigh.
He’d shut his computer down and gotten ready for bed, sliding in next to you as quietly as possible. Whilst he was lounging in bed next to you, attention focused on the screen of his phone, you’d started shifting beside him. Harry laid stock still, not wanting to wake you up with any movements.
Instead, you reached a hand across the bed, seemingly searching for something. When you couldn’t find whatever it was you were looking for, a frown settled itself onto your face. Harry was sure you were dreaming, but couldn’t resist closing the gap between your fingers and his.
The minute Harry hooked his fingers around yours, the frown on your face disappeared, replaced by a soft, blissful smile. Harry had known you long enough and knew you well enough to know that you were still fast asleep, the gentle sighs falling from your mouth being a dead giveaway.
So, if you asked Harry when he knew that your love was meant to last, he’d tell anyone that listened that it was the moment he realised you loved him even in your dreams.
for my great friend lux @redhairedwolfwitch ♡ thank you for everything.
"Hey, you paged us?"
Cristina tilted her head, curious, while you stood behind her, wondering if you were in trouble if the Chief needed you.
"I know you're both most interested in cardio, so..." He motioned the two of you two follow him until your pager went off.
"Shit," You mumbled under your breath, staying slightly behind as you heard Cristina gush about the cardiac trauma Hunt showed her, "I gotta run, Robbins needs me, a complication in the NICU."
"Come on?! Cardiac trauma!" Cristina turned to you, the look on her face saying enough. But you had already started to walk away, putting a spanner in the works of the plan the universe had in store for you.
☾ ⋆*·゚:⋆*·゚:⠀ *⋆.*:·゚ .: ⋆*·゚: .⋆
"Doctor Bailey!" You rushed after her, wanting to catch up with her and show her the results of the CT she needed, until Cristina appeared out of nowhere, seeming frustrated.
"The new attending doesn't even know how to put in a temporary pacemaker!"
They came to a halt at the nurse's station as you hovered next to Cristina, waiting your turn.
You tilted your head, "Wait- we have a new attending?"
"Did you or did you not ask this man for a new cardio attending?"
"Yes."
"And did he or did he not bring in attending after attending, none of them who seem to please you and all of whom you ran off?" Bailey gave Cristina a look, one that made you have to bite your lip so you wouldn't laugh. Doctor Bailey had her cornered, and rightly so.
"That is not a fair assessment." Cristina bluntly replied.
"Doctor Yang, has it ever occurred to you that you might be the problem? Right, leave this man alone. Go torture the new attending. (Y/S/N), you got the results?"
You passed the results over, leaving as soon as Bailey waved you off, so you could go on your way to pester Cristina.
"So... why is the new cardio attending not to your liking this time?" Cristina rolled her eyes and groaned as she heard the teasing in your voice. You followed her, ignoring the annoyed look on her face, "Let me guess... weird hairdo that keeps distracting you? Bad breath? Silly walk? Or are they just not at your level?" You air quoted, making Cristina stop to stare at you before she continued her walk, but you knew she would talk after that.
"She might have been it once, but oh no, not anymore. She made me put in a temporary transvenous pacemaker because she hadn't done it in ages."
You grimace, having to admit how bad it sounded that a cardio attending didn't know how to., "At least she admitted it?"
Your comment went completely over Cristina's head, who was still fed up with the situation, "She's inexperienced, inadequate and is definitely not a cardio goddess. She's a desert storm barbie, who hasn't seen the inside of an OR in like 10 years. Owen was wrong to bring her here."
"Well... you've used up your three wishes and Webber and Bailey are done with your complaints... so I think you're gonna be stuck with her."
Cristina let her head fall back and let out the biggest groan before turning into another hallway, leaving you to shake your head as you walked to the lifts.
☾ ⋆*·゚:⋆*·゚:⠀ *⋆.*:·゚ .: ⋆*·゚: .⋆
"So, what do you think of the new cardio attending? Excited to learn from her?" Arizona draped her stethoscope around her neck, following you out of the room.
"I can't say, haven't met her yet... but Cristina seems to be really happy with her."
Arizona raised an eyebrow before she saw the look on your face.
"Oh, yeah, I heard. Wait-" Arizona looked at her pager, "Hm... speaking of the devil, Yang paged me. Walk with me?" She squeezed your arm, hoping you'd follow her.
You briefly caught up with your friend as you walked through the hospital. Jackson and Cristina were standing around a hospital bed, but before the two of you could approach, Arizona's pager went off once more,
"Hm... can you inform the parents of one of our preemie babies of his vitals? They're going home and would like to hear everything's still alright before they leave. Check his vitals with them in the room or they're not going to want to leave. They're persistent, but they're good parents. " Arizona gave you a soft smile as you nodded and grinned, doing as she told, not seeing the other blonde approaching Arizona behind you as you walked away.
☾ ⋆*·゚:⋆*·゚:⠀ *⋆.*:·゚ .: ⋆*·゚: .⋆
You were leaning against the wall, waiting for Arizona to finish up since she was your ride home, when a happy Cristina all but skidded out of the resident's lounge.
"You're being weird. What's gotten you so happy?" You noted as Cristina's frown from that morning had turned into a wide grin.
"Guess who did a Takeuchi repair today?"
"You did not!?" You gasped and stood up straight, your full attention now on Cristina.
"Uh, not all by myself. But she did let me do the coronary artery anastomosis."
You raised your eyebrows, still surprised. Cristina was a great resident, but that was a big shot surgery, even for her. "Damn, are you taking back your words about her now?"
"Yeah, probably. Which means-" She turned serious again, pointing a finger at you, "The games have begun." She let out another ecstatic laugh before walking off, letting you know you would have to step up and fight to get hours on cardio with the new attending.
☾ ⋆*·゚:⋆*·゚:⠀ *⋆.*:·゚ .: ⋆*·゚: .⋆
You walked into the lifts the next morning, the coffee Arizona had gotten you in one hand, the charts of the nightshift in the other. You only had five minutes to read them all and then inform your attending of the day of any changes. But with the coffee in your system, you knew you could do this.
You skimmed the first few pages of one of the charts as other people hurried into the lift right as the doors closed. A few floors later, you knew it was your turn to step out when the doors opened. Not wanting to waste any time, you kept your head low to read the charts, but you had to look up and stop when someone crossed your path- quite literally.
A woman hurried by, apologising to people left and right as she rushed through them. Though she had been fast, you had not failed to catch a glimpse of the face that you once so adored.
Teddy Altman.
She hadn't seen you, probably because your nose had been buried in the charts, or because she had been in a rush. You watched her disappear through the double doors towards the OR's and that's when it clicked. Teddy, your old friend from back in New York, the same Teddy that was in love with cardio, was the new cardio attending Cristina suddenly seemed to be gushing about.
You ditched your coffee somewhere, your body suddenly being filled with nerves and stress. It had been years seen you'd seen her. Ever since your mutual friend Allison had passed away on that damned day, you had lost contact with Teddy. Almost as if she had disappeared. Just like that. No note, no phone call, no goodbye. Maybe it had been for the best. The abrupt ending to your friendship had helped you get rid of the wish that it would ever become something more. Teddy was gone, and so were the feelings you had secretly been harbouring inside. But seeing her now... It overwhelmed you how only a glimpse of her could bring back the crapload of memories the two of you had shared. You slipped into one of the vacant seats in the waiting room, clutching the charts against your chest.
"No sitting, (Y/S/N), you've only just started your day. Let's go! We've got jobs to do. Chop-chop!" Bailey walked by, gesturing for you to get up and go.
You stood up, took the deepest breath and made a promise to yourself-
It's been years. You changed. You were no longer the EMT Teddy used to know. You took great pride in the fact you had grown, as a person and as a doctor. You were a resident now. Besides, for all you knew, Teddy didn't want anything to do with you anymore. She must have changed too. Besides, who knows what happened to her after you lost each other.
Teddy might be back, but your feelings were long gone.
☾ ⋆*·゚:⋆*·゚:⠀ *⋆.*:·゚ .: ⋆*·゚: .⋆
You walked into the cafeteria, talking with some of the Mercy West residents as you grabbed your lunch, placing it on the tray in front of you. You rolled your eyes as they started to gossip, happy you had your food so you could walk away from that. Shaking your head, you turned around to scan the cafeteria, your eyes landing on Arizona's, who waved you over. You froze in your spot as you saw the back of Teddy's head, who was seated at the same table. Without thinking, you turned around and left the cafeteria in a hurry, the tray still in your hands. You hoped you had been fast enough before Teddy could have seen who Arizona had waved to.
Facing Teddy was not on your to-do list any time soon.
☾ ⋆*·゚:⋆*·゚:⠀ *⋆.*:·゚ .: ⋆*·゚: .⋆
You had successfully managed to avoid running into your old friend all day, rather doing scut or helping out in the clinic than scrubbing in or helping with consults. Anything to stay out of Teddy's way.
"So, will you tell me why you ran like a chicken earlier today?" Arizona wore a playful smile as she from the doorway how you were grabbing your things.
"Um-" You shuffled some things around in your locker, trying to stall coming up with an answer. Arizona was one of your best friends and already knew whatever you would say would be a complete lie, "Stomach ache. Needed a toilet."
Arizona nodded her head, her playful grin not disappearing, "Yeah... I usually like my lunch with some nice sound effects and extra stench too."
"Wha-," You stopped to turn around, "I did not eat my lunch in a toilet."
Arizona shrugged noncommittally, going to the next topic, "Had fun removing haemorrhoids at the clinic today?"
You sighed defeatedly and pushed your jacket in your bag, glaring at Arizona, who was having way too much fun with this.
"Fine. I ate lunch in a toilet cubicle and helped out at the clinic today. What's wrong with that? They need all the help they can get."
"Meanwhile you could've scrubbed in with Doctor Altman and I. She let Yang fix the kid's Alcapa. Could've been you." She shrugged.
She patted your back as you passed her out of the lounge, letting out a groan at the missed opportunity. You clung your bag over your shoulder, greeting colleagues left and right, trying to play it off, but knowing Arizona was following close behind.
"Nice try," Arizona whispered in your ear as you waited for the lifts to arrive.
You sighed and turned around, about to shoot back a witty reply to wash the grin away from your friend's face, until you saw Teddy round the corner into the hallway, coming your way while she talked to an intern. The lifts dinged behind you, but you quickly pulled Arizona away, pushing her into the door that led to the staircases.
"Okay- wait, what just happened?" Arizona let out a breathy chuckle, her eyebrows raised as she tried to decipher what was going on in your head.
"We're taking the stairs down today! Let's go, I haven't reached my 10k steps yet!" You were already walking down, leaving Arizona to look back, thinking she might have missed something, until she eventually followed.
"Okay, tell me what's going on because you've been incredibly weird, all day long." Arizona stopped you when you were about to walk out of the hospital. You looked her in the eyes, seeing the genuine concern.
"Doctor Robbins!" You shut your eyes at the familiar voice and quickly turned around, slipping into the gift store unnoticed, still in hearing distance,
"I wanted to give you this for the follow-up surgery but you left so quickly." Teddy smiled softly, watching how Arizona looked around, noticing you had dipped, "Just read through it at home and we can discuss tomorrow."
"Oh, yeah! Sure! Thanks." Arizona's eyes fell on the back of your head as you tried to distract yourself by looking at the many different postcards of Seattle.
Teddy furrowed her eyebrows slightly, "Um... okay, well, we'll talk tomorrow."
"Sure thing!"
You waited until Teddy had disappeared into the lift again before stepping out from behind the rack, Arizona immediately pulling you out of the gift shop, her mouth agape as she watched with excitement, "You are crushing on Doctor Altman!"
"What? No!"
"What else can it be? That's why you've been avoiding every place she's at like the plague. I knew you would like her, but I didn't know you would like her this much." She raised her eyebrows suggestively, the grin on her face only widening as you sighed and walked out of the hospital.
"I'm not crushing on her. I haven't even met her yet. I'm just... shy... to meet new people. I need more time."
Arizona snorted as she followed you to her car, "Yeah, sure, that's it." But she grew serious when she saw the conflict in your eyes, "You know you can tell me, right? Anything. I don't judge."
You turned in your seat, it was clear you were battling thoughts in your head. You let yourself fall back against the seat as you sighed,
"I don't want Teddy to see me. Not yet, at least."
Arizona rose an eyebrow, silently telling you she needed more information if you wanted her to understand.
"We knew each other. Back in New York."
Arizona nodded slowly, knowing about your life as an EMT in the Big Apple, "Did you fall out? Did you fight? What happened?"
"That's the thing- I don't know. One day we were friends, the next... she was gone? This is the first time I've seen her since 2001 and... I don't know, it threw me off. I don't know what to do or say now."
"She hasn't seen you yet?"
You shrugged, "No, I don't think so. Not that I know."
"Well, were you great friends before she left?"
"You could say that. I just-" You stopped yourself, sneaking a glance at Arizona, who looked back at you with an encouraging smile, "Oh God- okay... I just always feared I might have scared her away?"
Arizona pursed her lips before hearing what you rambled out next, "I had like, the biggest crush on her and for a while, I thought she had one on me too until I realised she was like that with our mutual friend Allison too and-"
"Doctor Altman likes girls?!" Arizona gasped, intrigue written on her face. You quickly shut her down, not wanting to start the spread of another rumour in the hospital,
"No?! I don't know! I don't think so. No."
You sat in silence for a while until Arizona opened her mouth, "Well, I think it would be best if you just rip the band-aid off tomorrow. I don't think she'd appreciate finding out you avoided her for as long as you could. It's probably going to be awkward either way."
You nodded softly, knowing Arizona was right, "Will you help me?"
"Pfff, of course! I got your back." She smiled at you as she drove out of the car park.
☾ ⋆*·゚:⋆*·゚:⠀ *⋆.*:·゚ .: ⋆*·゚: .⋆
You kept yourself busy by alternating between buttoning and unbuttoning your lab coat and fixing your hair, wanting to look presentable since Teddy hadn't seen you in years. It was silly, how you hadn't been able to let go of the nervous habits you had whenever you'd be around her. But the worry Teddy would be disappointed to see you again made it worse this time.
"Stop that, you look great." Arizona smiled encouragingly and fixed your collar as you started to play with your fingers instead, needing something to try and keep your nerves under control.
"Ready?" She asked you as she stopped in front of the room Teddy had paged her to. You gave her a curt nod and took in a breath as she opened the door, revealing Teddy who was looking at the whiteboard in front of her.
"Doctor Altman, I brought a resident who's gonna help me with this case. Hope you don't mind."
"Not at all! I went ahead and-" She stopped midsentence when she turned around, her eyes locking with yours. Sure, you had changed over the years, but you knew Teddy would recognize you in an instant.
"(Y/N)?" She breathed out, her face going from confusion to shock to excitement in just a few seconds.
"Oh my God, it's really you?" She walked up to you, her arms open to welcome you in a hug. Teddy let out an awkward chuckle as she noticed you didn't move a muscle, but she slowly and unsurely wrapped her arms around you when you took a hesitant step forward.
"It's so good to see you again! How- I- What?!" She smiled and rubbed her cheeks, trying to wrap her head around the fact you were standing in front of her, and trying to stop herself from panicking. "You left New York? When? You're a resident now!?"
"It's been years, a lot can happen." You squeezed your fingers behind your back, realising how harsh it sounded, no matter how much she deserved the cold shoulder. You just wanted to get this over with.
Teddy's smile faltered, but only momentarily, before her eyes filled with glee again, "So- what's happening? What's new? How did you get here? Are you.... third year? Or-"
"I love this little reunion but maybe it's best we focus on the surgery now...We've got little time." Arizona butted in with an apologetic smile, seeing you needed a breather.
"Yes! Of course, apologies." Teddy turned back to you, her face unreadable, but her gut wrenched with the guilt she suddenly felt. Your eyes said it all.
"We...um, should catch up later." She spoke before she quickly turned to face the whiteboard again, muttering something under her breath, hoping to be able to mask her panic in the next few hours of you two working together.
☾ ⋆*·゚:⋆*·゚:⠀ *⋆.*:·゚ .: ⋆*·゚: .⋆
"Go!" Arizona mumbled out, bumping your hip when you stopped, seeing she was gesturing to Teddy waiting in line. "Go break the ice!"
"I thought I already did that this morning?!" You whisper-yelled back but was pushed forward by your friend.
"Oh- hi!" You shot her a wry smile, albeit awkwardly, as Teddy turned around. "Want to...um... eat lunch outside with me? Catch up? It snowed last night and uh, I know you used to love-"
But you stopped as you saw Teddy nod and smile, "I'd like that."
"So, Seattle, huh?" Teddy started once you had found a vacant bench outside the hospital. "I thought you said you could never see yourself leaving New York?"
"Yeah, well, I got the opportunity to do my residency here... I wanted to start fresh, and New York isn't what it's been after-" You stopped, noticing how Teddy tensed. She took her time eating her sandwich, stalling an answer before she eventually had to speak.
"It's good to see you ended up where you wanted to be. Seems like all those times I helped you study for med school weren't in vain." She smiled with her eyes as she took another quick bite of her lunch. She tried so hard to read your energy, but you seemed closed off.
"Don't get me wrong, I loved being an EMT, but this is good. This is great. I'm happy now. This is the right path for me."
Teddy gave you a soft smile as she truly took you in for the first time, daring to stare at your side profile now that you were focused on your own lunch. You wore your hair differently now, your face looked a bit more mature and you also seemed more reserved, but maybe that just had to do with the awkward tension still floating between you two. Your eyes though, still gave her the same comfort, even if she had lost the ability to read them, apparently.
"What's it going to be? You got your eyes set on a specialty already?"
You nodded while taking a sip of your drink, "Cardio or peds... though I sometimes like to dabble in neuro."
Teddy let out a breathy chuckle, "Ha! Knew it! I recognized the light in your eyes every time I helped you study cardio cases."
"Well, you made it fun. It was hard not to like it by the way you explained it. You seemed passionate about it so of course, I would try to feel the same way."
She nodded to herself, the corner of her lip curling up slightly before she changed the subject, "Where were you on Monday? Doctor Robbins and I did an alcapa surgery together, you would have loved that. Would have been the perfect match for you."
"Oh, um, I don't know, I think I was helping in the pit all day? It was a busy day." Deciding to change the subject once more, you opened your mouth again, "Where did you end up? You left but never said anything, I was worried for weeks until I eventually had to let it go."
Teddy stopped and put her lunch down, "I joined the army..." she watched closely as you raised your eyebrows in surprise, "Almost immediately after... That's were I met Hunt and that's how I got here."
You nodded softly, trying to put it all into place in your head. She obviously gave you the short explanation, as she had left out years of details. But you figured she did so for a reason, and you respected her decision.
"Wasn't I worth a goodbye though?" You chuckled dryly, half joking, half serious.
"God- no, I mean yes! Of course! You deserved an explanation, that's on me, I just... had to go. I couldn't breathe. I hadn't been in a right state of mind for a while, especially after my parents passed away... and then Allison..."
You put your hand on her leg, "Teddy, it's alright, you don't have to explain further. Sorry... I just- All I actually needed to know was if you were still alive. I was dying inside not knowing if you were alright-" You bit the insides of your cheek as Teddy's hand was placed over yours. She sighed and looked out in front of her, her fingers tangling with yours as she squeezed your hand.
"I am so sorry. You deserved a proper farewell."
You nodded, agreeing, but decided to stay silent, sensing that Teddy already knew how bad she had messed up.
"So um, are you staying here? This is not a temporary thing?"
She squeezed your hand again, just to reassure you, even if she felt tortured by all the lost memories and feelings resurfacing,
"Yeah, I plan on staying." She cleared her throat, "Which is why I'm glad we worked this out right now? I mean, we're good, right?"
Thoughts circled through your head while you felt your chest tighten. Having to be around Teddy again would be a challenge, especially seeing how you left things. But you could manage. You were a surgical resident, for heaven's sake, and you were not going to let an old friend from the past ruin anything.
watch me burn - pierre gasly
illicit affairs, part seven
summary: “oh baby, I've been thinking about it, you know that I've been dreaming about it” watch me burn / michele morrone
a/n: hi:) still a few more parts to go but i went a few chapters without smut and this was needed so enjoy:) also if u listen to the title song while u read its a whole new experience lmfao
warnings: 18+, nsfw, smut, semi public sex
2 months ago, to the day
Your eyes met his piercing blue eyes in the garage once again. It had been a month since you slept with Pierre and you haven’t stopped thinking about it. The way he stared at you as he fucked you was the exact same way he was glaring at you across the paddock. Needy and desperate.
You shook yourself back into focus and listened as Max’s strategist reiterated today’s race strategy but you couldn’t help daydreaming about what that man could do in bed.
You drowned out the conversation about tyres and looked over to Alpha Tauri at the perfect time. Pierre had his bottom lip between his teeth while he examined his car. He ran his hand slowly over the chassis seductively like he knew you were watching. His fingers grazed the metal in painstakingly slow circles. After he removed his hand from the car was when he caught your eyes. He gave you a smirk, not even a smile, and turned away. It was good to know that you weren’t the only one thinking about what happened.
The race started and you were in the garage, cheering on Max. He had started second on the grid but due to a first lap incident, he was fifth. He was not going to be happy after the race. He can tolerate if he fucks up but having other people interfere with his race is something he takes particularly hard.
Pierre’s car came up behind Max’s around a corner and got too close for comfort. Max jerked his steering wheel too much as he tried to turn, sending Pierre’s car straight into the barriers.
You stood up out of your seat and gasped. Everyone in the garage was relieved to see Max still racing and no one seemed to be concerned about Pierre. You took off your Red Bull Racing branded headphones and slammed them on the table before rushing over to the Alpha Tauri garage.
Anna was seated in her chair, looking worried, but not enough for you. She should be close to tears like you were.
“Have you heard anything from him?” You asked and Anna looked up, almost annoyed.
“He’s conscious,” his race engineer said, “but hurting.” You heard the groan come through followed by a bunch of curse words. He apologized profusely for his move but it was all Max’s fault.
You watched on Alpha Tauri’s monitors as the race was red flagged and decided to head back to Red Bull’s garage. “Let me know when you hear something,” you said to Anna. She nodded and looked back down to her phone. Fucking bitch. Her attitude made you not even feel bad about sleeping with her husband. She didn’t deserve him.
Max walked back to the garage looking like a life size bobble head with his heavy helmet swinging around. “Is Pierre okay?” He asked, sounding genuinely concerned.
“He’s conscious. He took a nasty hit.”
“I know, I feel bad. I didn’t mean to, the steering wheel just got away from me. I saw him crash in my rear view mirror.”
You were visibly shaken and Max always knew the right things to say when you weren’t feeling okay.
“He’s gonna be okay,” Max said, rubbing your back.
You nodded in agreement. “I know he will. I’m going to check on him at the medical center once the race starts again.”
Max smiled at you. “That would be good. Make sure you tell him I’m sorry.”
An engineer put his hand on Max’s shoulder and shoved a spreadsheet full of data in his face. He shrugged his shoulders and walked with the engineer to the monitors.
It wasn’t long before the race got underway again. Max made it up to third, podium position, but there were still at least 30 laps left. You started the trek through the paddock and over to the medical center. You were just a bit too late as you saw Pierre walking out down the ramp. He smiled when he saw you approach him.
“How ya feeling champ?” You asked him.
“I’m a bit sore thanks to your husband.”
Your face fell. “He sends his apologies. I promise he was actually remorseful.”
“Max? Remorseful? What did you do to him?”
You laughed. Max did have a temper and tended to be extra competitive but he had formed a special bond with Pierre these last few years. They weren’t friends by any means but they helped each other out whenever possible. This was one of the times that it wasn’t possible.
“He does genuinely feel bad, Pierre.”
“I know he does, it was a racing incident. I saw the footage.” He limped slightly through the paddock and winced when he put pressure on his left leg. “I think I should go lay down for a bit.” He took another step and lost his balance. You grabbed his arm and held him, making sure he stayed steady.
“This is it right here,” he pointed to his motor home.
“Do you want me to help you up there? I don’t want you to fall.” You said with a soft smile on your face. How could he resist your offer of help?
“Sure,” he limped over to the door and you aided him up a few stairs. “Shouldn’t you be watching the rest of the race? Last I checked, Max was doing really well.”
He sat down on the luxe white leather couch in exhaustion and you sat at the table across from him. “He wanted to make sure you’re okay. He’ll be fine.” You looked around the motorhome, observing your surroundings to seem busy. “So Anna’s nice…” you said, followed by a laugh. You had known Anna for a few months now. Their wedding was right before the season started and you really hadn’t known her much before then either. She tended to keep to herself and you wanted to respect that.
“She can be a bit…”
“Yeah, I know. I went to check on you after the crash and she looked like she wanted me dead.”
“In her defense, she caught me checking out your ass this morning. She was not very happy with me after that.”
You leaned forward to give him a light smack. “Pierre!” You shook your head in disappointment. “What did she think of the way you were practically fingering your car this morning?”
He played fake shy. “Oh, you saw that?”
“You make my heart beat crazy fast.” You admitted, putting your hand to your chest. “That didn’t help.”
“Well, as long as you enjoyed yourself.”
Enjoy yourself you did. He was in his same fireproofs from earlier and you were sure he didn’t know how turned on they made you. They were pulled down to his waist, the sleeves hanging low off his hips. His white undershirt was tight to his body, putting his abs on full display. His legs were spread wide, inviting you in. Was it hot in there? Was the air conditioning on?
He ran his hands over his abdomen and leaned his head back, staring at the ceiling. He groaned, sounding like he was in pain, frustrated, and horny at the same time.
Why did he have to be so unbelievably irresistible to you? When you were around him it was almost impossible to contain yourself. There was a magnetic force dragging you to him constantly. You moved yourself to sit next to him, earning his attention and popping his head up.
“You look really hot right now,” you giggled to yourself. He made you feel like a teenager experiencing her first love. The nerves were through the roof.
“Well, I feel hot.” He looked around the walls of the motorhome. “Where the hell is the air conditioning and who turned it off?”
You let out a sigh of relief. “Oh thank god it’s not just me.” He looked over at you examined your face. He placed his hand on your red cheeks. “You’re flushed.”
When he touched you, a chill ran through your body. Your body felt on fire and he had the power to send a freezing cold chill through it all.
“My cheeks get really red when I get nervous.” You blushed even more having to admit that. It was your least favorite characteristic of yourself. Everyone always knew flat out when you were nervous.
“I can’t tell if it makes you look cute, like I want to hug you, or if I want to fuck you.” His hand still rested on your cheek as he looked back and forth between your eyes and lips. “You look so god damn innocent. Like I could totally ruin you with just a few minutes alone.” His thumb ran over your lower lip and you instinctively stuck your tongue out to meet his thumb. He took the opportunity to put his thumb in your mouth and you suctioned around it, keeping eye contact with him. “Y/n,” he breathlessly begged, “please.”
His lips crashed to yours, feeling warm and secure the moment they touched. His hands held your neck and you moaned into his mouth, forgetting what it felt like to be touched by him.
He hoisted you onto his lap, wincing a bit when you grazed his knee. His hands fit perfectly in the curves of your waist as he pulled you closer to him, grinding your hips. “Don’t do this to me,” he said into your neck.
“Why not?” You said cheekily.
“We don’t have much time.” You almost forgot that there was a race going on right now.
“I can be quick.” You hopped off of him and locked the motorhome door as he undressed out of his fireproofs. He looked so good in his white suit but he looked even better naked. You slipped off your underwear and hoisted your sundress up to your waist before going back to his lap.
He guided your body on top of his, settling you down as you took all of him in, deep. “Shit. A condom.” You said, after the bare feeling of him inside of you set in. God did it feel good but it wasn’t right.
“I don’t think I have any in here.” He said. “I promise I’ll pull out. I need you so bad.” He lightly bit your nipple through your sundress.
“I will kill you if you’re lying to me.” You started to move your hips and moaned at the sensation. He felt so good filling you up all the way.
He took your ass in his hands and started to bounce you up and down on his cock. “That’s it baby, just like that.” He said, admiring your movements. “Fuck me like a good girl.”
Your head fell forward, the feeling running through your body getting almost unbearable to handle.
“Jesus, Pierre, you feel so good.” You pulled your hair into a makeshift ponytail and arched your back, feeling like all eyes were on you in the best way possible.
He watched you in awe as you rode his cock without a care in the world. “Your pussy is so tight baby. So tight for me.” A breathy moan escaped his lips and his face looked like he was in pure bliss. There’s nowhere else he would rather be.
“Shit, shit, I’m gonna come.” He said, panicking. You rushed to get off of him as you saw the liquid pool on his abs.
“Did you…?”
“I don’t think I got any inside of you.”
You took a deep breath to collect your thoughts. God, you hoped not.
Part I | Part II | Part III | Part IV | Part V | Part VI | Part VII | Part VIII
________
You didn't know what else to say, feeling ashamed. Who cared about your family circumstances? Definitely not Steve Rogers, a man you met just a couple of weeks ago and who knew nothing about you. Why did you say something like that in the first place?
You didn't wanna look at his face and see him feeling guilty because he didn't know how to comfort you. You didn't need to be comforted. You didn't need anything at all. It was just a simple cold, right?
Despite that, you suddenly started talking from beneath your blankets, "I have a younger brother. When he was born, we found out he was having severe asthma. His childhood was terrible, he had constantly been sick, I remember him being in and out the hospital all the time. Of course, because of his condition, my parents spent most of the time with him. He was just a little sick kid."
You hated yourself for talking, for showing something to Steve he shouldn't have known because he wasn't your friend, but you couldn't force yourself to stop.
"On the other hand, I am lucky to have good health. I didn't really got very sick, so, well, I didn't need help like my brother. So, I'm used to taking of myself. I'm a big girl, I don't need my mom to dance around me just because I have a cold."
Of course, you didn’t. You were perfectly capable of taking care of yourself, and even of Steve didn't show up, you'd be alright by yourself. You'd just take your acetaminophen, and then everything would be ok.
You kept silent, staring at the inside of the blanket and wishing Steve would just disappear, leaving you to your misery. You didn’t see his face, and you were glad you didn't. What he must think about you? That you were craving for his attention like a spoiled kid? Shit, it was so embarrassing. You were an adult, for goodness sake!
"I don't know about you, but when I had a flu sachet, it would make me fall asleep really quick. And when I was feeling sleepy, I would start thinking about the things I loved most because I hoped I would see them in a dream." Instead of feeling ever more ashamed, you listened to Steve's soft voice and thought you were lucky it was him being here with you now. "It actually worked, and I have been having my best dreams when I was asleep, sick. What are the things you love most?"
Surprised, you looked up at him and saw the most gentle expression on a face of a guy you had ever met. Why did he look at you like that? Why was there no pity on his face? Why was it making you cry like you were a ten year old kid? Before he could see anything, you hid beneath the blanket again and kept silent for a couple of moments to calm down.
"I love lemon pies my grandma used to make me, and her garden. She had tomatoes and cabbage and strawberries that smelled like summer. I loved watering them nearly every day because I thought I was a little forest witch who lived in her pretty cottage in the woods."
You didn't know why you were telling him this, but Steve has a strange effect on you. Or was it cold? You had no idea, but it didn’t really matter. All you were thinking about was the way fresh tomatoes smell when you'd leaned down to water them, and the sound of bees flying above strawberry's flowers. Your grandma was taking care of her cabbage - a very capricious guest in her garden - and you could hear her working, cursing grandpa for making the patches too wide in that funny voice of hers. Then she'd stood up, wiped the sweat with the back of her hand, and called you to come back to the cottage because if was time for dinner. You'd run to wash your hands in a barrel of water near the big apple tree when grandma didn't see, and soon you were sitting with her, eating her famous cabbage soup and then having a piece of a lemon pie because you worked so well today.
You could almost feel the taste on the tip of your tongue.
By the time you woke up, Steve was long gone: it was the middle of the night, and instead of him you saw a thermos with a still warm chicken soup on a chair, waiting for you. He sent you a message that you could call him at any time of the day - or night - and that he wanted you to have a bit more sleep to get better. After you had a few more sips of his soup, you fell asleep again, feeling warm and fuzzy.
_______
The weekend went fast. It was the first time in several years you spent so much time in bed. Steve kept appearing at your door from time to time with a new bags of food despite you telling him you had your own, but he always insisted you should it something fresh and warm. Surprisingly, he wasn't the only one at your door: Thor suddenly showed up with his whole team, bringing you notes for the upcoming exams they collected altogether, apparently. Loki sent you a message if you needed anything, and Peter left contacted you on Instagram, leaving you links to games you could play so you wouldn't feel bored. Even Bucky gave you a call, asking if he could come and give you a few packs of Neo Citran for your cold, but you kindly refused: Steve literally brought you a yearly supply of this.
It was strange. Of course, when you were in high school, your friends grew worried about you when you had been sick, but there was nothing else to it. Wasn't it always like this? Nobody came to see you. Nobody brought you soup or gave you meds or anything. Despite feeling embarrassed, you realized you actually liked it when somebody was close to you like that. It was comforting seeing Steve popping up and not having to worry about how pretty you looked: he laughed when he saw you getting all shy because you were in your pyjamas. He said he definitely didn't expect you laying on your bed in an evening gown.
Before you realized it, you were already getting better. It was just a cold, really. Soon your throat was no longer sore, and while you were still sneezing, your temperature dropped down to normal, so on Monday you were ready to come back to school as planned. Funny enough, you no longer cared if you passed your exams, having 100%. You didn’t talk about it with Steve, but Peter was laughing like crazy about that when you told him.
Funny. They no longer looked so scary to you. They were just a couple of boys, weren't they? Regardless all those scary rumors and stuff, they were just guys. Maybe they were weird and stupid and a little bit scary because you didn't know them, they were still alright. Thor said it to you, didn't he?
Monday was Bucky's day, so, once you were done dressing, he nocked at your door: you were feeling a bit shy, watching him in that leather jacket and torn jeans he kept wearing the whole year around, apparently. Barnes looked like a teenage girl's dream. He smelled like cigarettes - although he said he was trying to quit - and pinewood. Just like Thor, he liked to skip classes he didn't enjoy much, but he was smart enough to pass the exams. Funny enough, he had a motorcycle.
Again, you wondered how come girls weren't coming from a city on a bus just to go see him.
"Are you sure you’re feeling better?" He asked you softly. "You can stay home today."
"No, no, I'm perfectly alright, thank you! How are you?" Smiling, you closed the door and hid the key in your bag.
"I'm good, thank you."
He didn't speak much, but as you walked in silence, you thought it was comforting - not talking at all and feeling good about it. While Bucky looked like a scary biker, in fact, his calm and friendly demeanor only helped you relax around him. Besides, it was funny how students seemed to give him way whenever they saw him, and you thought if Steve was the King, then Bucky was the Knight.
Before you went into the your classroom, he suddenly stopped you, "Listen, I wanted to say I have your stuff."
You blinked, "What stuff?"
You didn't give him any of your stuff. Actually, after Steve gathered you all in the student council room, you only met Bucky this morning for the first time.
"The stuff those freaks took. Your... your clothes, I mean." He muttered under his breath, and you gaped at him.
Your underwear. He found your bra and panties those guys took from your room.
"Wait... how?" Staring at Bucky who, apparently, was feeling a bit embarrassed talking about it, you thought how on Earth he got those things.
There was only one way he could, right?
"Bucky, was it you who beat those guys?"
It took him a couple of seconds to turn his face to you and then sigh, "Yes, it was me."
@electrivolt from here. ( did you think i was gonna let you run away free? ) / the past is still alive.
He doesn’t even realize he’s awake, in Sinnoh, when Luxray headbutts him right to the floor; all Roark knows is that the mimic is out of his grasp, seemingly vanquished in thin air. And yet, his senses only return in slow peels of layers—it takes far too long to realize what he feels in his chest is his own heart fluttering and hammering in his chest, that his cheeks were already damp between the cold sweat and what must have appeared to be such an infinite container of woes so tightly repressed inside such a tired, scarred body, leaking fissures impossible to reseal over and over again.
Then it would be smell, sight—it was so dark in here, and yet.. yes, this was... home. This was Oreburgh... where, though? Wasn’t he...? Roark’s hands, trembling as they were, cautiously splay fingers to touch carpet, almost afraid that something would grab him, yanking him back into that horrid encounter. It’s flat, however... carpet... he wasn’t in a cave waiting out poor weather..
( he’s yet to realize his actions, he doesn’t quite realize that there are noises that don’t belong in his peripheral )
Looking around leaves him a lonely island, barely able to make out the shapes in a room cloaked by the night, Roark blinking as he brute forces his way through the dizziness that he had originally assumed was simply the consequences of waking up from a bad dream like it always had. Yet, part of him was asking where the baneful spirit had escaped, and the only logical place he could look as the doorway—nothing. To the left—nothing.. that was just his closet... right.. he’s still in Oreburgh. To the right—ah.
“L...Lux..?” Why would he be up at this hour... staring at him like that? Granted, his vision was most terrible without his glasses, even more so in the middle of the night like this. However, even the blur that was Volkner’s permanent companion he could make out just about anywhere. His hand slowly, carefully reaches up towards Luxray’s muzzle, and he doesn’t quite realize how bad the tremble in his fingers are until they cast a silhouette in front of glowing eyes. His vision may be unfocused and shaking, but his fingertips are worse.
( ah.. so i am awake, aren’t i...? )
The slow moment falls apart immediately when the thundering of paws scramble into his room, and Roark suddenly yanks his hand back to be met with an even larger pair of the same eyes, the trill of the Luxray he brought home ( right... he’s home, he’s home ) soft, yet sheer mass causes it to be much deeper, and the alpha is simply bumping his nose against him, sniffing around for blood—a habit picked up from such altercations... right, the altercations.. ( it wasn’t around, was it..? )
( ... wait... hold on )
His head was throbbing trying to process so much at once that he had only just realized that he was, in fact, on the floor, definitely not on the bed, and—
( ah.. what was that..? )
The coughing...wheezing, mostly.. wait.. no.. was he home..? Yes.. Yes, he was. He had to be. Both Luxray were there, clearly ( ah.. it’s hard to think.. ). Was that... Volkner..? That had to be... wait, why was—”..Love?” With the way both felines stared at him, something was wrong, very very wrong. Perhaps getting up was a terrible idea, but it would not be unlike the numerous nights in which he’d stood up with much worse, and Roark even presses a hand against his ribs when he finally rises, shaking and ragged, assuming that he was sporting the same wound before it finally hits that once again.. it was a dream. A nightmare, but... either way, it wasn’t real. But was Volkner okay?.. he’s never heard him cough this much, even if he came down with a cold...? The alpha wastes no time in pressing against his side as the largest crutch created, Roark subconsciously grasping golden fur as he stumbles to the light ( and god, that fucking hurts with the sudden light like this, but it’s easier to see when there’s more than simply shades of black and indigo surrounding him ).
Roark isn’t even aware of his unsteady breaths, his concern for Volkner somehow the most comfortable train of thought to be preoccupied with ( and in reality, he’s been in a panic this entire time, so abruptly torn from his nightmare and struggling to discern that he was awake in reality ), and it was enough to get that familiar survival instinct to kick in—that is, to block out everything else.
In his haste, he may as well have stumbled into bed, clamoring to Volkner to check on him closely. Luxray simply follows suit, resting his huge head against blankets and staring at the other one, perhaps to ask what had happened to startle him to the point of hissing at his trainer. Clearly, Roark hadn’t realized what had happened, but Volkner holding his own neck wasn’t something he recalled seeing before. “Volkner..? D..Do you need water..?” Roark can’t help but ask, even though his voice doesn’t particularly feel attached to him in this moment as he nudges blond strands away to check his neck himself, close enough in proximity to at least see anything awry.
Against pale skin, under the light like this, he can see the bright red of agitated skin, lattice-like as if someone had put their hands on him.
( ..their hands on...? wait.. but he was... wasn’t that... wasn’t that zoroark....? wasn’t that just.. reliving that night again..? that was zoroark... he put his hands on zoroark.... he put his hands on— )
“..Oh.. Oh no... oh, no, no, no—” Each soft vowel comes with the weight of the realization, trembling digits downright shaking as they curl into his hands, blunt nails digging into palms. The way tuscan can’t seem to focus on one detail, flitting to where clearly it was his hands that would match the outline of what was absolutely imprinted on his love’s neck, the pace in his breath quickening is such a telltale sign that Roark is by no means safe nor stable—this is... this is too much. This is too much.
This is too much.
( zoroark wasn’t there at all. at some point that was actually volkner. he couldn’t tell them apart. he couldn’t... tell them apart... even though...everything he heard... that was... that was— )
“..Did I... D-Did I really... Damn it.. damn it, Volk, I’m—I’m so sorry, I—” He shouldn’t be trying to speak himself, if none of it made sense. “D-Don’t.. don’t talk—don’t force yourself, okay? I—I’ll figure it out, I just... God, I’m sorry—I’m sorry—” Roark only ends up cut off when the alpha places a hefty paw on his leg, successfully distracting him, and the best he can do is hang his head, overwhelmed and most painfully guilty over something so inexcusable—he’d genuinely never forgive himself for this, and the conversation that would follow after this was...
...well, he had to explain even if he wasn’t ready to, was he?
“..M’ sorry..” Volkner came first, in his mind, even in a terrible state such as this.
✰ it’s time to wake up, RIVER SONG, you’ve been in cryosleep for too long and the people of DOCTOR WHO miss you. when you went into slumber you were TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY years old, your pronouns are SHE/THEY, and you VOLUNTEERED for the cambria program. now that you’ve awoken, your position as an ARCHEOLOGY PROFESSOR is waiting for you. remember, the cambria one thanks you!
the basics;
NAME: Melody Pond River Song
ALIAS(ES): Any shortening of Melody, River
AGE: 250
PRONOUNS & GENDER: she/they, agender
BIRTHDAY & ZODIAC: 4th July, Gemini
FACECLAIM: Alex Kingston
AESTHETICS: an old book in a dusty library, a hidden passageway, bringing a gun to a knife fight, hell in high heels
a deeper look;
BACKGROUND: Luna University may have accepted her as a professor despite her interesting history, but it doesn’t make the solid rules and requirements easier for River to live with. Having just published a new paper on the Ood and the Space Spheres and a with a little time to spare before the ‘field trip’ to the Lux Foundation library (or a newly stolen vortex manipulator to create said time), she went looking for a new adventure, and they’d heard a little about a hologram invite that doesn’t actually care what answer you give it before it makes you disappear. It took her about a year or three of searching places people had left from before they got her invite while avoiding seeing future spoilers, but she’s in desperate need of an adventure and to discover what is happening on the ship (and where interesting things may be on a future archaeological dig).
WEAPONS: Vortex manipulator, hallucinogenic lipstick, a sonic screwdriver, and micro-explosives, as well a small gun and several hidden knives
POWERS/ABILITIES/SKILLS: Skilled warrior/criminal, good at keeping lies/timelines straight, lock picking
GREATEST STRENGTH: Their determination
GREATEST WEAKNESS/FLAW: The few people who actually matter
ONE FEAR: That she will fall from grace and fight for the wrong side again
ONE HOPE: To find an adventure worth their time
HEADCANON(S): River’s about ten years post THORS and doesn’t expect to see any of her family again, with the possible exception of the doctor, that she’s aware of the other proto-timelords made with her DNA but has never mentioned them to anyone, she really enjoys a good bath, and they still have a soft spot for teen movies from the early noughties courtesy of Amy.
the questionnaire;
How does your character feel about being dropped into the Cambria program? Are they excited? Suspicious? Confused?
She’s excited, for sure, at the idea of a new adventure and they can never truly resist a good mystery, but she knows her diary is very full now. She’s looking forward to working at a new university in a new environment too, since many of the universities she’d like to work out wouldn’t hire someone who’s been to Stormcage, even pardoned.
What does your character hope to see the most during the Cambria one’s journey?
Oh, they’re not picky, something fun, something sparkly, and something worth her spending their time on it. Bonus points if they’re all the same thing. Or equivalent points if it’s something worth writing a paper on, they suppose.
If your character could bring one thing or person from home, what would it be?
Their vortex manipulator – they don’t much enjoy taking the long, linear way of dealing with time, and having to walk around the ship constantly is almost as bad. Her lipstick is a close second, though. The Doctor would be more useful than any of it.
Devil Devil
Again, lost my past account @loverosetyler blah blah blah, so I made a new one (this one), where I’ll be publishing what I had written previously, I’ll just copy paste it :)
I know someone already did this ‘cause I remember I saw it somewhere (did not read it though, if anyone knows which fic//one shot shot I’m referring too, I’ll appreciate it if you told me <3), but I felt like writing my version. The last one shot I did kinda got me in the mood to keep writing so, yeah. English is not my first language so pardon me if there are any mistakes but please, do tell me about them, or about any feedback you’ve got <3
ONE SHOT
Summary: Lucifer needs to confess and show his true self before dating you.
• Pairing: Lucifer x Reader • Words: 1644 • Warnings: sexual suggestions, cursing?, atheist reader
You wake up in Lucifer’s bed with your whole body sore from spending the night with him, although last time you checked, you were riding him on the living room sofa, not on his own bed.
“Damn it” you say hissing as you stretch your muscles and incorporate on the pillows, before even thinking about getting up.
“Oh?” Lucifer inquires with a sexy smirk plastered on his face, wearing a deep blue satin robe, entering the room in the blink of an eye. Quite literally. But you have gotten used to it “I’m sorry, are you… I don’t know… still aching from everything we did last night?”
“Shut up” you say falling back again on the mattress “My freaking muscles feel swollen.”
“Well, I did warn you about my horse stamina since we started hanging out naked, sweetheart” he tells you, handing over a painkiller and a glass of water with a sarcastic grin.
“It not a complaint, sweetheart” you say mimicking his voice tone as you accept the glass of water and swallow the pill, rolling your eyes in irony “It’s a ‘I’m stunned that’s all you’ve got’ statement.”
He opens his eyes in pleasant surprise and all of a sudden, throws himself at you, you both roll over the bed making out until you’re out of breath and have to stop him.
“Lucifer…” you say trying (not really) to get him off your neck.
“I’m gonna eat you all, love” he says ignoring your not so clear attempts to stop what he’s doing.
“Luci, Luce… come on” you say in between moans, you clear your throat to try and speak in a more serious tone “Lucifer, stop”.
He does, immediately.
“What’s wrong? I was just warming up” he watches in confusion as you get up to dress up, bearing with the kill ass pain you’ve got in silence so he doesn’t win.
“I need to get to work, Luci” you remind him with a soft smile “I too, have a life to attend to, Mr. Morningstar.”
“Yes… I suppose you do… it’s just… well…” you turn around to face him, half-dressed already, but when you do he pulls you towards him and you end up making out on top of him again.
“Damn it, Lucifer” you say “Didn’t you have enough having to carry me asleep from the couch to your bed?”
He raises a funny eyebrow at you.
“I didn’t carry you from the couch to my bed, dear.”
“You didn’t?” you say in disbelief.
“No… last place we did it was on the piano.” A moment of realization hits you.
“Ohhhh of course. That’s why I feel so sore, thanks for the info” you tell him, winking, then trying to get up and off to work.
“No, no, no” he pouts grabbing you by both arms, not letting you get off of him “Where do you think you’re going?”
“To work, Luci, I’ll be back, what’s got you all clingy today?” you ask, a little annoyed by now. He stays quiet for a few seconds before trying to explain (if you can call that explain) how he feels.
“Last night… before we went for the fourth round” you scoff and smile “You said something I cannot seem to get out of my mind now and that was… you mocked me about being the Devil and how if I truly was, well, the actual thing, you wouldn’t even… think about… nor… sleep with me, much less date me.”
You raise a curious brow at him.
“So…? Luci we’ve had this conversation before.”
“No, you don’t understand, this time… I need you, to understand” he confesses, incorporating slightly and hugging you by your waist. You’re kind of in shock by all of this sudden cheesy behavior, and to be honest kind of uncomfortable by it, it’s not something you’ve dealt before with, not with Lucifer, you’ve been trying so hard not to mix your feelings on this, but he makes it so hard every time, that you know, you just know, you’re already falling for him.
You let him hug you for a few seconds before you have the courage to do the same. You put your arms around his neck, legs entangled between his back as you’re both still on the bed. You begin giving him soft, sweet kisses on his temples and forehead, before passing to his cheeks, chin and lips.
“Lucifer…” you say, raising his chin, making him look at you “Can we discuss this some other time? Perhaps tomorrow when I come back to Lux? Please? I’m already really late.”
He nods softly.
“Can you promise me something then?” he asks as you get up and start to get dressed again.
“What is it?” you say, looking for your missing stuff, throwing it in your purse and rushing towards the elevator.
“That you’ll accept me no matter what” he says following you. You give him a confused look but decide to wave it off.
“Yeah, sure” you say, not that sure. He doesn’t believe you but for once, says nothing and lets you go with a kiss goodbye.
The hours pass quickly, and when you realize, it’s already time to head back home. Thank Lord.
When you arrive, you throw your stuff on the couch, ready to go to your room and just sleep everything off, you notice Lucifer sitting on it, catching your purse.
“Now, now, what are those manners Ms. (Y/L/N)?” he says smirking.
“Lucifer what are you doing here? I told you I would drop by tomorrow” you say rolling your eyes but walking towards him, sitting on his legs and throwing your purse far away from you “Unless you couldn’t wait any longer…”
“No, (Y/N), actually…” he says, making you stand up and sit in front of him “This time I need you to listen to me.”
“Okay…” you say, not quite getting this mood he’s been getting in recently “What’s going on?”
“Earlier… I was telling you about… how I want you to accept me for who I am” he starts.
“Yeah…?” you encourage him to continue, because frankly, knowing him, he’ll storm out any second with a ‘Never mind, I have to go’.
“That is because…” he breathes deeply “I want to, you know, spend more time with you, maybe go to the museum, or a concert, you like concerts right? Oooh or perhaps the zoo! It’s quite similar to hell actually…”
He rambles. You don’t believe this.
“Lucifer!” you stop him “You want to date me?”
He looks at you in shock.
“Yeah well, I suppose that’s one way to put it.” You look at him and burst out of laughter.
“You’re kidding me! You’re crazy! That’s it? That’s the big deal? You thought I was gonna say no or something? Of course I want to date you… properly” you tell him smiling and preparing to throw yourself at him and let him make you his again and again.
“No, (Y/N), wait, not so fast” he says guessing your intentions “When I told you you needed to accept me… fully, I meant it. I mean it now.”
“Lucifer what are you talking about? I accept you fully, what makes you think I don’t?” you say, kinda hurt to be honest.
“You don’t know I’m the Devil.” You roll your eyes.
“Of course I know, you repeat it all the time. I get it.”
“Yes but you don’t believe it.”
“How am I supposed to believe it? Lucifer I’ve explained this to you before, I’m an atheist, I thought we agreed on not letting our beliefs get involved in sex.”
“Yes! But this is not just sex anymore, is it?!” he raises his voice tone. He sighs and gets up, gives a few rounds around the living room before sitting down again. “What if I told you I can prove you, that I’m… truly… the Devil?”
You raise an eyebrow annoyed and sit back on the couch.
“Go ahead.” He nods silently, debating himself if it’s a good idea.
When you blink, it’s not Lucifer who’s sitting in front of you anymore, instead, there’s a… bald-headed red… demon… thing in a suit, in Lucifer’s suit.
You freeze for quite a few seconds before you blink again, and there it is again, your beloved Lucifer Morningstar.
“(Y/N)…?” he inquires worried as he watches you starting to tremble, but guesses it’s best not to touch you.
You look at him for a fraction of a seconds before you have to look away again. You just can’t do this.
Lucifer nods slightly, gets up, and leaves your apartment.
You don’t know how much time passes before you realize what you’ve done. Could’ve been seconds, minutes, maybe even hours, but from then, it takes you less than a second to run down the hall, take a cab and head over to Lux.
The minute you arrive you rush towards the elevator and get in, you begin to impatiently pressure the button a thousand times, as if that was going to make the damn thing go faster.
When the door opens, you discover the bar and the living room empty, so you hurry your steps to the bedroom and there he is, a lost looking Lucifer, staring at the middle of nowhere, sitting on his bed until he sees you coming in.
“(Y/N) what…?” but he can’t even finish the question because you have already jumped to him and began kissing him uncontrollably.
“I fucking love you” you say between kisses and tears “I don’t care about anything else, I need you, I accept you, completely, and I love you.”
Lucifer distances himself a bit to look at you in the eyes, he smiles widely.
“I’m glad to hear that, love, I had begun to think we were already breaking up before we even started dating. Now” he says, starting to unbutton his shirt with one hand and raising your skirt with the other one “Where were we?”
@fxlgurkinesis: ❝ please, just hear me out. ❞
Shyvana’s eyes narrowed as she looked at Lux in a way that might have terrified some Demacians — between her reptilian eyes and the fire within them, her stare was nothing if not scalding. She shouldn’t have been so worked up over a small thing but alas, her temper got the best of her as usual.
She sat down on the edge of the rock and swung her legs out over the edge, plopping her hands town beside herself in either side for added balance as she continued to look at Lux. Finally, her mood seemed to lift the smallest bit. The fire in her eyes died down a tad, as did the burning sensation in her chest.
“ Fine, speak your piece. ”
A fog hung over your head. You could barely see three feet in front of you, and everything was hazy. What you knew was that you were in the inner circle—it wasn't as cold. The sound of paws and feet crunching against the snow wasn't that far away from you. It stopped a few seconds later.
"Hello?" You called, slowly walking towards the sound. "Chanyeol?"
Again, the sound of paws and feet, but this time in the opposite direction. You reeled, now unsure of which way to go. A sense of dread was beginning to pool in your stomach.
"Sehun? Junmyeon?" Your voice was small and shaky, taking one step forward. "Chanyeol?"
You stood still, waiting for a sign, a sound. The forest was dead silent. When you tried to take a step forward, your body turned rigid. Every single hair on your body stood straight up.
And then, you began to shake. Just as the fog cleared, and two figures appeared in front of you. Both of them beaten bloody, chests heaving, eyes burning with rage. Chanyeol's shirt was torn, and there was a cut running across his chest, staining the ruined fabric. Tears were streaking his dirt stained face.
Baekhyun's left cheek was swollen, quickly turning purple. His right cheek was bleeding. But he seemed more steady. His sword was drenched in drying blood.
And then you noticed the wolves.
All four of Chanyeol's brothers lay dying all around them, warm crimson melting the snow as they bled out. You could hear them whining in pain as they did, legs twitching in pain.
You tried to call out to them, but you choked on black tendrils, bursting through your throat. Your jawbone cracked as they did, tremors wracking your body as you gagged on your cries of pain. All you could do was watch in horror as they charged at each other, hurling curses and obscenities at each other.
The tremors in your body intensified, your injured arm cracking as the black, oily coils shot forward, wrapping around your throat.
Spots danced across your vision, your head beginning to pound as you couldn't breathe. Your vision lost focus, eyes blurring with tears.
The last thing you saw was Baekhyun's sword impaling Chanyeol's chest, the iron bursting through his back. As his younger brother's blood splattered across his face and neck, Baekhyun's face broke into a sadistic grin.
A horrible laugh rang throughout the forest, and you awoke with a start, hands grabbing at your neck to unwrap inky coils that weren't there. You were sweating and your chest was heaving.
Slowly, you sat up, blinking furiously to allow your eyes to adjust to the sunlight. You could tell that it was still relatively early, maybe before nine. When you caught your breath, you wiped the sweat off of your brow. Your throat felt itchy and your head was pounding. Getting up was one thing, walking to the door was another. You were disoriented and dizzy, nauseous, even. You jiggled the door, and sighed when it wouldn’t budge.
You glanced towards the window, even though you knew it was too small for you to jump out of. Rubbing your temples and letting out a deep sigh, you tried to push all of the events of last night to the back of your mind, Baekhyun’s betrayal refusing to fade to the back of your head. You lay down on the bed again, processing everything you knew now.
You loved Baekhyun, you really did. Yesterday morning, when he had kissed you, you felt relieved that you were in his arms again.
But Baekhyun’s kisses, contrary to what you had originally thought, no longer felt as comforting or as safe. Even before he had thrown you to the wolves, metaphorically speaking. Chanyeol’s lips on yours permeated your mind, the memory stuck in your head.
You found that the more you tried to pull away from the thought of that tall, mysterious man, the tighter his grip became—deep down, you knew that only in coming closer would you be released. Vaguely, it reminded you of the toy your father had brought you once when you were a child, woven out of thin strips of bamboo. Sticking your index fingers in, and then trying to pull them out was impossible, as the toy stretched and its hold got tighter. However, when you pushed them together, the toy expanded, and your fingers were released.
Were three weeks even long enough to fall in love? Two, considering the fact that the first week he basically wanted to kill you? You weren’t sure. All you knew was that right now, Chanyeol’s safety, as well as that of his brothers and of Selyne, was all you wanted.
Your thoughts were interrupted with the sound of the front door. You turned to face the door, waiting with bated breath. Had they returned so soon?
You were disappointed when the bedroom door swung open, Yixing standing awkwardly in the doorway. He stared at you, emotionlessly, before he sighed and stepped inside. Your eyes watched his every move like a hawk, and scowled at him when he sat down on the chair where your clothes were.
“I’m here to do a check-up,” He told you, “You’re still recovering.”
“What, from my cold induced madness or the huge stab wound in my back?” You spat. He looked down, face not changing. He almost looked ashamed.
“I’m sorry you see it that way.” His voice was quiet. “I brought you some food and some water. You can eat that and then we can get started. I know you must be hungry.”
He pulled out a bowl wrapped in fabric, as well as a canteen from his bag. When he showed you what was inside—rice and some beef—you lifted your gaze to meet his eyes. After last night, you weren't sure you ever wanted to eat anything again. Yixing shook his head once he realized. Which meant he knew.
"There's nothing in it," He said, sounding earnest. "I promise, Y/N."
You would have refused, but the pounding in your head seemed to be unending. It didn’t take long for your resolve to crack. You drank almost all of the water in the canteen, and you practically inhaled the meal.
“The troops left three hours ago. About a hundred and twenty soldiers total. Baekhyun, Minseok and Jongdae are leading them,” He informed you, fiddling with his clothes and staring at the walls.
You didn’t reply, too angry to do so.
When you finished, you allowed him to do his check up. He asked you about how you were feeling, how certain parts of your body felt, like your legs and your chest, if you’d been feeling dizzy or nauseous. He was done fairly quickly, and as he packed away the now empty bowl, spoke up again.
“Remember the time Jongdae dared me to sneak out into the Spearwood when we were younger?”
“When Minseok misfired and shot you?” You asked, raising an eyebrow. “Yeah. How could I forget after the way your dad almost punched Min?”
He let out a soft chuckle, but there was no joy behind it. “I spent about three hours out there. I never told you guys, but I got lost pretty quickly. I panicked once I realized I didn’t know where I was. I thought I was gonna get killed by some animal in the name of the gods or something. You know how I panic.”
You nodded, humming, unsure of where he was going. “It was summertime,” He continued, “So it wasn’t as quiet as it is now. And about halfway through those three hours, I heard branches snapping behind me, and… this thing sounded big, Y/N. I-I just about shit my pants when I turned. Because I had never seen a bear so close to me before, and it was huge, and it was headed towards me.”
He looked up at you, eyes full of awe. “I was so freaked out, it didn’t occur to me to try and shoot it or to play dead or anything. All I could do was stand there, trying not to scream or provoke it. It walked right past me, and kept walking straight. I thought I should run or hide, until it turned back to look at me and… she spoke to me. Well, not speak, it was more like—”
“Like an echo in your mind,” You said, sitting up straight, “That… that was Mirren.”
He nodded, a ghost of a smile gracing his face. “She wasn’t anything like they told us she would be. She was so… kind, and gentle. She knew I was afraid, and she promised she wouldn’t hurt me if I didn’t hurt her. And I was a 19 year old idiot who had a sword. I wasn’t going to try and kill a goddess. So I followed her, and she took me as far as she could without being seen. We barely spoke. But when she told me to keep going, because that was as far as she could go safely, I was so grateful. I… I never would have expected that kind of mercy and kindness from one of the gods, not after everything we were taught. And then twenty minutes later I got back to the wall and Minseok misfired.”
Yixing furrowed his eyebrows, staring at his hands in his lap. “That Chanyeol guy. He’s pretty much the only link between the human world and the forest, right?”
You nodded.
“So if he died or if Selyne died… the forest would lose its only possible bridge between the two. And that would make it harder for them to understand us, or to communicate easily.”
Again, you nodded. Yixing shrugged. “For us, that’s a good thing. The gods would have to communicate directly with us, and we could take them down when they’re vulnerable.”
You nodded, looking to the side and gnawing on the inside of your cheek. Why he felt the need to rub it in made no sense to you, why would he—
“Which is why it would be a shame if you were to escape.”
Your head snapped forward to look at him, eyes widening. He sighed, obviously nervous. When he spoke, his voice was quiet. “It would be a shame if you were to overpower me and lock me in this room. An even bigger shame if you were to know that your bow and quiver are in the stables, and that the guards patrolling the east gate change shifts in about… fifteen minutes. A huge shame, really.”
You just about stopped breathing, staring at him wordlessly. Yixing raised an eyebrow.
“Are you going to do anything or do I have to knock myself out?”
“Why can’t you just say that I locked you in here?”
“What, you really think they’ll believe that?”
You stood up, shaking your head. He was right, but that didn’t make you feel any better about knocking Yixing’s lights out. “Thank you, Xing. I can never repay you.”
Yixing waved his hand. “You don’t owe me anything, Y/N. If anything, this is me repaying my own debt.”
You sighed shakily, and Yixing stood up. “Please don’t hit me too hard,” He said. You smiled, and shook your head, before throwing up your fists. Before you could do anything, he held up his hands. “W-wait, wait.”
“What?”
“Kick Baekhyun’s ass,” He ordered, “His head’s been getting too big for his shoulders, anyway.”
You smiled sadly, before nodding. “I’ll try,” You answered, and took a deep breath. “I’m sorry.”
Yixing shut his eyes, grimacing. “Do it.”
With one final deep breath, you swung at his temple, and Yixing fell to the floor. You checked to make sure he was knocked out cold, tapping his face slightly, and setting off when he didn’t come to.
You changed into more suitable clothes to wear in combat, and slung on your snow boots and a dark blue cloak.
Before you left, you walked into the dining room, and looked towards the floor, before something glinting in the low sunlight caught your eye. Heart splintering, you picked up the necklace, and tucked it into your pocket.
This would have been so much easier if you’d been let out before the sun came up. You placed the hood of your cloak up, hiding your face and keeping your head down, hoping to not draw too much attention as you walked towards the stables. Thankfully, the path leading there was still relatively empty given that it was before ten.
When you got to the stables, you found your bow and arrow hung on the wall, right next to Ivan’s stall. For a moment, you considered taking him with you, but decided against it. It would be too hard to sneak a reindeer out in broad daylight. You would simply have to run as fast as you could and hope that luck was on your side.
So you hid the weapons under your cloak, and made your way to the east gate, where, just as Yixing had said, the parapet atop it was empty. And once you had broken the lock, and were outside, you were gone.
Immediately, you realized that the energy in the Spearwood was different. The air was crisper, seemingly even colder. If the forest had been quiet the first time you stepped into it, you could practically hear the sound of your blood rushing throughout your body. A few minutes into your walk, it began to snow, and you found yourself shivering already.
Once you were out of sight of the parapets, you removed your cloak briefly, placing the quiver and bow over it rather than under it for better access.
Being alone in the snow, with everything you knew now, filled you with an odd sense of nostalgia. If a month ago, someone had told you you would willingly march into the Spearwood to try and end the war, you definitely wouldn’t have expected this to be your course of actions, and you certainly would have expected to have different motives.
You did your best to retrace your old steps, but the past 24 hours, the fact that it had been three weeks since you came this way, and the difference in lighting made it significantly harder. You walked for about forty minutes, cautious enough to listen for the footsteps of anyone who might have followed you from Ironbend.
And while eventually you did hear footsteps, they definitely weren’t from anyone you were expecting. The fast sound of paws thumping against the snow, racing at you from behind barely gave you time to turn and spot the giant mass of white fur bounding towards you. With a soft, “oomph!” you were tackled to the ground, tumbling a few times before finally landing on your back in the snow. You opened your eyes to meet a familiar gaze.
We really have to stop meeting like this, y’know, Sehun declared as he stepped back, it’s weird.
“You’re the one that tackled me,” You argued, sitting up and brushing off the snow that was on your cloak. “What are you doing so far out of the inner circle?”
Sehun shook himself off, before staring at you seriously. Emergency patrol. Mama sensed danger.
“She was right,” You said with a nod, “Is she safe?”
Why would she be keeping herself safe? He sounded kind of exasperated.
“Because she’s the target, Sehun. The three troops they brought out are looking for her.”
All of the playfulness in Sehun’s demeanor seemed to evaporate. Shit. Junmyeon knows where she is. Get on. I’m taking you to him.
You got on his back, and he huffed slightly at the new sensation of having to carry you. Sorry if it gets bumpy. I’m not really used to having people ride on my back... That’s usually Junmyeon’s job.
“Shut up, you overgrown spoiled baby,” You answered warmly, “It’s okay. As long as we get there in one piece.”
Did you get there in one piece? Kind of. You had to cling onto him and lower yourself to basically lie on his back. Otherwise you bounced too much and you risked falling off of him. The wind ripped your hood off, whipping your hair in the process and drying your eyes.
He slowed down once he approached a clearing, where you could easily see the brown wolf standing in the white snow. He turned once he heard Sehun’s paws. When he noticed you, he seemed rather taken aback.
Y/N? What are you doing here? Why did you even leave? He asked when you got off of Sehun.
“I needed to warn you. All of you. Selyne is in danger.”
She’s the warden of the forest, he pointed out, I think it’s an occupational hazard.
You sighed, annoyed at how willing the both of them had been to brush off your warnings so easily. “This is different. More than a hundred men are in the forest right now—all of them armed with guns, I might add—trying to find her, because they know that if she dies, Chanyeol loses his link to the forest and any hope for negotiation and bridging the spirit world and the human world is gone. You need to warn her, now.”
Junmyeon, evidently stunned speechless, looked between you and Sehun for a few seconds, before his gaze settled on you finally. We knew about the troops. We didn’t know about their plan. How did you find out?
You pursed your lips. “My… I used to be close to their leader. He’s… the swordsman.”
Shit, Sehun swore.
Fuck, Junmyeon agreed.
“Y/N?”
Your eyes widened at the distant sound of the deep voice, turning your head to see Chanyeol, trudging through the snow. His eyes were wide, and when he recognized your face, he began walking faster.
Of their own accord, your feet started moving in his direction. You ignored the voices of Sehun and Junmyeon trying to catch your attention. He sped up again, now making his best attempt to run to you, even though the snow passed his ankles. Your heart pounding in your chest, blood roaring in your ears, you sped up as well. As the distance lessened, you took in the familiar features. The pelt that kept him warm, the mask held back atop his dark hair, his cheeks streaked with blood he’d painted on, the round earrings dangling from his prominent ears.
Finally, he was within arms reach, and he reached out his arms the same way you did. His gaze was desperate, almost unbelieving that it was really you. The two of you collided, lips smashing against each other as his hands gripped you in several different places, like he was trying to make sure you were tangible. First at your waist, then your back, until finally, they gripped your face tenderly, calloused hands holding your face. Your hands wrapped around his neck, standing up straight to reach his lips.
The state of catharsis his desperate kisses gave you confirmed it. You knew in your heart who you wanted.
When Chanyeol pulled away, you wiped away the snowflakes that had fallen on his cheeks and nose. “Y/N,” He murmured, “You came back.”
You nodded, pressing a kiss to his cheek.
”I had to,” You said softly, nuzzling your nose against his cheek, “I needed to warn you about what’s coming.”
His face fell slightly when he heard your reasoning, but he didn’t step away. “Y/N, I… I shouldn’t have let you leave. A-and I shouldn’t have said those things I said. I was… scared. I’m sorry.”
You shook your head, breaking away. “Right now, we can’t focus on that. I need you all to listen to me. I know what the troops are trying to do.”
He nodded, eyes turning serious. “Come on,” He said, turning you to face the clearing. The two of you paused when you noticed the two other wolves sitting in the clearing, watching you bemusedly.
I told you something happened, Jongin said to Kyungsoo, Now you owe me your next part of the hunt.
Chanyeol scowled, and had this not been such a serious moment, you would have laughed. The two of you walked back over to the quartet, where you greeted them all properly. Not wasting any time, you went over the basics. How you’d been found by Baekhyun and taken back to Ironbend, what you told the Council in an attempt to get them to consider a truce, how you managed to escape. Baekhyun and his plan. The danger that Selyne was in, and by extension, the danger that Chanyeol was in.
“She needs to hide, now,” You told them once you finished, “Chanyeol, you might need to hide, too.”
“I’m not going to hide,” He fired back. “This is my home. They’re threatening my mother. I’m not about to stand back and let them do it.”
You stared at him, gripping his forearm. “Chanyeol, Baekhyun knows. He told me he would kill you.”
“And I’m telling you I’ll kill him.” Chanyeol’s eyes were wide, serious. “Y/N, I’m more expendable than Selyne is. If I die, it’s a major setback. If Selyne dies…”
It’s the beginning of the end for us, Kyungsoo completed, The magic of the forest will become unbalanced if it loses one of its Pillars.
And if the magic of the forest becomes unbalanced, we lose our strongest wall of defense, Junmyeon agreed. It’s our job as our mother’s sons to lead in her place in moments when she can’t. One of those moments is now. Chanyeol has to fight.
You clenched your jaw. “Fine,” You bit out, “But someone needs to go warn Selyne, right now.”
Chanyeol and I can go. Jongin, Kyungsoo, you both need to gather the other wolf packs. Call the bears as well, any other animals that can defend the forest. Foxes, coyotes, birds of prey, lynxes. Call the raccoons if you have to. This is life or death. Junmyeon straightened his posture. Sehun, you show Y/N how far the troops have gone. Stay hidden. Let’s rendezvous in an hour and wait for Kyungsoo and Jongin with the reinforcements.
We’ll go as fast as we can, Jongin said, before turning to Kyungsoo. Let’s go.
Sehun lifted his head to gaze at you. You heard him. Get on.
You nodded, turning to Chanyeol, who was about to get onto Junmyeon. “Wait.”
Chanyeol’s eyes softened as you approached him, reaching into your pocket. You tucked the necklace into the palm of his hand, closing his fist around it. “Be careful,” You begged him, “I didn’t betray an entire village just for you to get yourself killed.”
He gave a soft smile, his other hand grasping yours. “I’ll come back to you,” He promised. You peered into his eyes, wanting to say so many things.
Gross, Sehun interrupted, and Chanyeol’s smile disappeared immediately. “Don’t be a dick.”
He’s Sehun, Junmyeon mumbled, giving something akin to an eyeroll, Kind of impossible for him not to be. Now come on, we need to go now.
Chanyeol offered you one small, final smile, before he and Junmyeon sped off.
You turned to Sehun, getting on his back. “Is it that hard for you to not be an asshole?” You asked, tone warm and teasing.
You all love me anyway, he replied. His cheekiness was not missed. The two of you took off immediately afterwards. You remembered to lower yourself and stay close to his back. Sehun explained that the magic of the forest was affecting the troops, leading them on the wrong path.
They’ve been going in circles for about two hours now, Sehun snickered, But we can’t just let them trample through the forest without teaching them a lesson.
“Be careful once we get closer to their location,” You said into his ear, “They’ll probably have scouts patrolling within a few hundred meters of their formation on all sides.”
I’ll keep that in mind.
The pair of you slowed to a walk, and you got off of him, pulling out your bow and nocking an arrow out of caution. Silence reigned over the forest, making the sounds of your boots crunching in the snow cringeworthy and deafening. The two of you were nearing the top of a hill, approaching its steep summit. As you approached it, the sound of stomping and snow crunching became louder and louder. You swallowed the lump in your throat, slowing significantly.
You stopped at the sound of a familiar shout. The boom of the voice actually made Sehun’s ears lower, the wolf flinching at the noise.
“Regroup!” Jongdae yelled, “We’ll stop for ten minutes.”
You stared at Sehun, who in turn gazed at you before cocking his head at a large boulder that should give you both some cover. Slowly, as quietly as possible, you both approached the snow cap rock, before Sehun peeked over the edge of the rock.
They’re at the base of the hill. If you’re gonna come over here, be careful.
You leaned over the side of the rock, releasing the tension in the string of your bow.
120 sounded like a lot of men, you realized, but the visual was somewhat underwhelming. They easily fit in the large clearing at the base of the hill. Seeing them all huddled together in the cold brought you an odd sense of comfort.
Seeing Byun Baekhyun and his two lackeys had the opposite effect.
Baekhyun, Minseok and Jongdae were excellent military strategists. They were better than you, that was for sure, and you came from a long line of military leaders. They worked even better when the three of them worked together. In previous campaigns in other places, they’d done great damage with even smaller troops. You knew damn well that they would turn this relatively small group into a well oiled killing machine, and use each man to the best of their ability.
Still, you knew they had some weaknesses in their formations. Every formation did. They were very susceptible to being attacked from the back. It would catch them off guard very easily.
What are you thinking? Sehun asked.
“They can be very vulnerable from the back,” You whispered, “This is their standard formation. I doubt they’ll change it now that they’re this deep—takes too much time, lowers their guard. See the back line? Those are the reserves. They’re generally the strongest men, but they’re more spread out. That’s where Baekhyun, Jongdae and Minseok are, also—their leaders. The ones meant to be fodder are generally put on the front line.”
That’s… interesting. But an attack from the back would mean taking out a small group of strong opponents, and then fighting a larger group. That’s… not ideal. We would tire ourselves out.
“There are bound to be more than 120 animals in the forest willing to defend it,” You pointed out. “They’re used to combat at a distance, especially with the shoulder guns. If we can approach them and overwhelm them, we might just be able to get them to retreat.”
You watched as Baekhyun, Jongdae and Minseok had a quiet discussion between the three of them, Jongdae’s hands gesturing wildly.
“Jackasses,” You grumbled, before stepping back safely behind the boulder. “Have we seen enough?”
I think so. It looks like they’re going to keep heading west. Which is good. Mama’s den is east. Let’s get back to the rendezvous point.
You nodded, exhaling softly. You stole one last glance at Baekhyun before you and Sehun trudged down the hill, putting some distance between the troops and you both before you mounted the wolf and broke out into a run. You kept your eyes open as he ran, hoping the winds would dry the tears in your eyes.
You were the first ones back in the clearing.
“You’re sure we’re in the right place, right?” You asked, just to be sure. Sehun sat, shaking some snowflakes off of his snout. This is where the pack scent is strongest, and I can still see the tracks from where we all split up, so yes. And look, that’s where you and Chanyeol… swapped spit.
“And you say Chanyeol and I are the gross ones.”
Sehun laughed. Well, that’s what it looked like! Human displays of affection are so odd. At first I thought you were trying to eat each other.
You shook your head. “No. Not at all,” You answered with a laugh, “It’s actually—”
Sehun’s head turned, ears perking up. Your speech died in your mouth, watching as a few seconds later, Chanyeol and Junmyeon came into view. They made their way into the clearing, and stopped right in front of you. Chanyeol slid off of Junmyeon’s back, stretching his legs when he did.
It took her some convincing, but Mother is safe. She’s in one of her secret dens, just in case.
You sighed in relief. “Good.”
We also found Beval and Emyr on our way there. We made sure to warn them.
Well, what did they say? Sehun asked.
Beval is rounding up the birds of prey as we speak. He’s also sending them some heavy snowfall and winds—he called it a welcome gift.
You smiled as the remark before Junmyeon continued. Emyr is rounding up the deer, and he’s sent out a message to any smaller animals to stay in their dens. The deer will be joining us, but they’ll stay at a distance so they can treat the injured.
“Selyne sends her blessing,” Chanyeol added, looking at you. “She also wanted me to return this to you.”
Chanyeol stretched out his hand, holding out a familiar black sheath with a leather band. The silver guards and the pommel of the sword seemed to glow in the daylight.
“So that’s where that went,” You mumbled, more to yourself. You looked up at Chanyeol after you had grabbed the sword. “Thank you.”
He waved his hand. “This is important.”
So, what now? Sehun asked, Wait for the reinforcements?
I suppose so, Junmyeon answered, before eyeing you and Chanyeol. He turned to face Sehun. Mother actually wanted me to talk to you about something. Come on, let’s go.
What on earth could she want you to nag me for at a time like this? I—
Junmyeon bared his teeth, growling in a move that surprised the three of you Sehun’s words died abruptly. Sehun, he hissed, eyes darting between the youngest wolf, and you and Chanyeol, Come on.
...Oh. Oh! Okay. Yeah. It’s probably that… thing I was talking about with her yesterday. Okay, yeah, let’s go.
The two wolves stalked off, Junmyeon nagging the entire time.
You looked up at Chanyeol, before tying the leather band securely around your waist. “Alright, we have some time to kill. Do… do you wanna talk about that night?”
Chanyeol slumped forward, looking downwards. When he looked back up, he nodded. You leaned against a tree, crossing your arms.
“I was an ass,” Chanyeol admitted. “I was unfair to you. But… I don’t know, Y/N. I’m just… I was terrified. I’ve never felt so vulnerable with someone else, before.”
“Chanyeol…”
“I love you. I don’t—I don’t know when or how it happened. And I was so angry when I didn’t go after you. And then when I finally did, it was too late. We didn’t find you. I just… lost it kind of.”
He showed you his right hand, where the knuckles were bruised and cut.
“What did you even do, punch a tree?” You asked, furrowing your eyebrows.
He pursed his lips, ears turning red. “Well…”
You bit back a laugh, and tried hard to hold back the smile trying to break onto your face.
“Oh, gods.”
“Shut up,” He huffed, trying to hold back his own smile now.
“You’re… you’re really something,” You said. Chanyeol shrugged and his face fell again.
“I fucked up. I shouldn’t have—”
“No, I shouldn’t have pushed you away,” You countered, “I was scared, too. Terrified. But after everything that’s happened since then, I know what I want. I want to stay here, with you, and I want to protect this place.”
“Y-you’re gonna stay?”
You looked down, shutting your eyes. You thought over the life you’d had in Ironbend, all of the friends and family you’d ever known. All of them united under one cause, and here you were, about to throw it all away. Guilt swam in your chest at the idea of having to consider them enemies.
“I want to be with you,” You hummed, grabbing his hand, “And if they knew about us, they would kill me.”
His hand squeezed yours. “I’m not going to let them.”
You smiled sadly. “I’m not going to let them hurt you, either.”
He opened his mouth to say something, when the sound of rustling in the distance caused him to turn his head. Instantly, the two of you reached for your weapons.
It’s them, Sehun called, running back into the clearing. It’s time.
You looked at Chanyeol, who squeezed your hand again. “Let’s do this.”
This would have been a lot faster had it been summer. So many animals were hibernating, and while there were still more animals than there were humans, you still wondered whether or not it would be enough. These animals didn’t have the types of weapons that the humans did, save for your sword, bow and arrow, and Chanyeol’s dagger.
A total of 361 animals showed up. Chanyeol’s four brothers, and a total of 97 wolves from different packs scattered throughout the Spearwood, for a total of 101 wolves. It made sense to you that the majority of animals would be wolves, given that Selyne was the one that was threatened the most. Other troops included 51 birds of prey, 46 foxes, 29 coyotes, 32 bears, 55 deer, 19 raccoons, 11 lynxes and surprisingly enough, 17 squirrels.
You weren’t sure whether to be surprised by the fact that squirrels had decided to show up or that the vast majority of them—along with the raccoons—came armed with relatively large jagged rocks to throw at the small army.
At first, the animals were skeptical of your plan. You didn’t blame them. A human, a foreigner, trying to lead them into battle? It didn’t sound safe.
The plan was simple enough. Wait until the troops reached one of the streams, so that it would be difficult for them to cross. Start an aerial attack with the birds of prey, the squirrels and the raccoons, then the front line of animals would attack the back line. The second, third and fourth lines would attack all around, and eventually the lines would open up towards the north, in an effort to push them back. The deer would be waiting past the stream, out of sight, waiting to work on the injured with their magic. You made sure to explain to them how the guns worked, and what needed to be done to heal the wounds.
The troops would be given a wide berth on all sides. The signals to attack would be given via howls, or in the case of the birds of prey, a screech.
Each wolf would be leading from a different direction. Junmyeon would be leading the front line with Chanyeol. Jongin would lead the second line, Kyungsoo the third, and Sehun the fourth lines.
You would be on the front line as well. As the groups separated, the forest seemed to fill with fog. You followed Junmyeon and Chanyeol, who were following the scent of the human troops as they led your group of about 50 or so animals. The only sound you could hear was the sound of snow crunching beneath you. You could barely see anything as the fog hanging overhead seemed to seep into the forest the closer and closer you got. You tried desperately not to think of your dream.
The wind blew harder as well, whipping your hair every which way, drying your eyes. Snow fell even heavier. It became slightly harder to trudge through it.
As your group came to its waiting point, one of the birds—a hawk, you saw—flew overhead before flying back up into the fog overhead. That was the signal to stop and wait.
Junmyeon stopped, turning back to the group. Chanyeol held his hand up, signalling for everyone to stop and wait.
You couldn’t see the troops yet, but you knew that they weren’t too far away. The dense treeline simply made it difficult to see anything that wasn’t a hundred meters away. All you could do now was wait. Your eyes met Chanyeol’s for a second, and he flashed you a soft smile. You looked him once over, your heart doing a backflip when it saw the opal necklace resting against his shirt.
“Be safe,” He mouthed at you, and you nodded as he pulled down his mask.
“You, too.”
The silence of the forest was shattered by a gunshot. You both turned to face the direction the sound was coming from, which was straight ahead. You forced yourself to take deep breaths, flexing your fingers. Your fingertips were numb from the cold. A second gunshot echoed through the forest, your stomach began to sink.
Gripping your bow, you tried to recall how many bows you had in your quiver. 35, 36? No more than 37, that was for sure.
Y/N, You heard Junmyeon say, flinching when a third gunshot came. You nodded once in his direction. Get on. Chanyeol will get off once we’re close enough. Your bow won’t work up close.
“Okay,” you mumbled, approaching them slowly. “We’re not too heavy?”
It’ll be fine, the wolf huffed, Just don’t take too much time with those arrows.
“Got it,” You answered, getting on, right behind Chanyeol. You made a mental note to suggest a saddle for them—if they knew what a saddle was, anyway.
“Hold on to me,” Chanyeol murmured, “Don’t pull out your bow until I say so.”
You nodded. “Be careful. Both of you.”
A fourth gunshot sounded, and you wrapped your arms around his torso.
“I’m gonna kiss you so hard when this is over,” Chanyeol whispered.
Gods, Sehun’s right, Junmyeon grumbled, You two are disgus—
A shrieking noise rang across the forest, and all of the hairs stood up on your body as you registered as the sound of a hawk’s screeching.
Now! Junmyeon yelled, beginning to charge forward, all of the other animals running behind you.
“Wait for my signal,” Chanyeol told you, “Stay alert.”
You didn’t reply, too focused on thinking about what was about to happen. As Junmyeon and the other animals weaved through the trees, you began to see something in the distance, barely outlined in the fog. Two more gunshots sounded, sparks glowing for a split second in the mist, perfectly giving away their location.
They were closer now. You could hear murmuring, shouting. The sound of running water, albeit a bit softer than the voices. Any second now, they would hear you.
“Now!” Chanyeol told you, as a large, dark mass came into view, slightly blurred by the fog. You pulled away from Chanyeol, pulling off your bow and nocking an arrow quickly.
“What is that noise!?” You heard a voice yell. You couldn’t recognize who it was.
“STAND FIRM!” A loud voice ordered. Jongdae.
A single figure burst into view, and you knew it had to be a scout. The young man turned, and his eyes widened when he spotted you, grimacing as you aimed your arrow at him.
His mouth opened wide, and he began to screech, “From the nor—!”
Your arrow pierced his chest, and you forced yourself to look away as he fell to the ground.
“The north!” You heard Baekhyun say, “FACE NORTH! NOW!”
You pulled out another arrow and nocked it as well, just as the troops appeared in your line of vision. You spotted Baekhyun almost immediately, but couldn’t bring yourself to aim directly at him. Instead, as the animals charged, you let it fly into someone right behind him, hitting the man straight in the eye. The arrow whizzed past Baekhyun’s head. His eyes widened momentarily when he saw you on top of the wolf, sitting behind Chanyeol’s familiar face, before it twisted into a hateful sneer.
“Attack!” He cried, “Fire, NOW!”
The first gunshots were fired, thick rocks still raining down on the men, hawks and eagles swooping down to claw at their faces.
As Junmyeon turned, he slowed down enough for Chanyeol to jump off. The man pulled out his dagger, charging straight for a soldier of similar stature.
Your turn, Y/N, Junmyeon said, You run out of arrows and I’ll call in the second line.
“On it!” You answered, aiming another arrow.
The two of you made an unlikely duo, working surprisingly well. Junmyeon knew to run slightly away from the fighting, because up close your arrows wouldn’t be much help. Running parallel to the front line, you fired arrow after arrow into the crowd. You even managed to get him to dodge a few bullets. One grazed his side, causing him to yelp, and you countered by sending your arrow into the neck of the man who shot at him.
Truthfully, you tried not to aim at the people you knew. It was too difficult, seeing their shock and the look of betrayal cross their faces for a split second before you fired your arrow. But that was difficult, because everyone knew you, the same way they knew their father.
You couldn’t imagine what they must have been thinking, to see someone who they thought would become their leader in the future fighting alongside their supposed enemies.
All around you, chaos reigned. The rock flinging had slowed down, but birds were still diving down to attack men at random. The men at the other side of the troops were trying to spread out, to extend the front line, but it didn’t seem to be working very well. In the distance you watched two men try to fend off a grizzly bear. You had to turn your attention elsewhere, but from the looks of it, they weren’t winning.
Soon enough, you were down to your last arrow. Which, in a way, was good, because you could tell Junmyeon was beginning to slow down. The sooner he had less weight to carry, the better.
Do you see Chanyeol? Junmyeon asked, and your eyes scanned the front line, stopping when they landed on Chanyeol fighting hand to hand with a soldier. He was on the other side of the battlefield. “I see him,” You answered, “Junmyeon, let me off now and call in the second line!”
What about you? He asked as you slid off his back, firing your final arrow into a man aiming at a bar, cringing when you recognized him as the baker’s son. “I’ll be fine,” You insisted, slinging your bow across your chest, before pulling out your sword, “Just call them, now!”
Taking off before he could answer, your legs set off. As you ran, you assessed the damage. Some animals lay injured or dying, others running off as they got injured, probably to circle around to the deer.
Your breath puffed out as you made your way towards Chanyeol. You heard people call your name, some even calling out for help, but you refused to spare them any glances. You wondered if they had seen you charging in… they probably hadn’t.
When you were about fifty meters from Chanyeol, someone stepped in front of you. Looking up to meet their eyes, you saw Minseok, holding his spear up and eyeing you defensively.
“Get out of here and they might just let you live,” He grunted. You held your sword out, eyeing the movements of his right arm.
“As if you would let the gods live,” You quipped, “In the grand scheme of things, I’m no one.”
“Y/N, I don’t want to have to do this.” His voice was shaky, glancing to the side to avoid your eyes. “We’ve been friends for years, I would never forgive myself if I had to—”
Thwap! You turned the blade so that when you hit him with it, the flat end hit the side of his head. The edge still drew some blood, though, and Minseok stumbled back, giving you just enough time to lift your leg, kicking him square in the chest. He stumbled back even further before falling to the ground, breathless. You hopped closer, hoping to knock him unconscious without hurting him too much.
Looking at him, your heart ached. As you lumbered over him, grabbing the collar of his shirt, you frowned. “I’m sorry,” You murmured, before knocking his head into the ground once, twice, three times, until his eyes rolled back into his head and his body went limp.
You had no time to check whether or not he was still breathing, instead standing straight up and taking a deep breath before starting to run again. As you did, you heard Junmyeon’s howl echo across the forest. Weaving through the trees, you knew more help would be here soon.
And it did, the second line appearing towards the south within a matter of seconds, sandwiching the troops between two groups of animals. As you got closer to Chanyeol, you felt something pull you back by the cloak, letting out a yelp as you fell to the ground. You fell on your butt, pain traveling up your back. Looking back to see what had snagged your cloak, you watched as Baekhyun ran past you in an attempt to get to Chanyeol, who had his back turned as he fought off another man. Baekhyun didn’t so much as spare you a glance.
You stumbled to your feet, eyes widening as you watched Baekhyun pull out his sword. Your feet somehow seemed to fly across the snow, your body going into overdrive. You’d seen this strategy before. Someone would distract the target, only for Baekhyun to come in and strike them down from behind.
You knew what would happen if you didn’t stop it. Slowing down for only a moment, you picked up a large rock that had to have hit some poor man in the head. Not even hesitating, you chucked the bloody rock at Baekhyun’s feet, causing him to stumble.
That gave you the advantage, making a beeline in front of him, practically back to back to Chanyeol. Your smaller sword met Baekhyun’s with a loud clang, the look on his face turning incredulous when he saw that it was you.
Baekhyun had always been a better swordsman. Every time you had asked him to help you train, it always ended with him pinning you down. But right now, you couldn’t afford to lose. You simply couldn’t.
“You just had to come and ruin everything,” He grunted, countering with a parry. You blocked it, your swords sliding against each other. You pushed him back, breathing heavily.
“I’m not gonna let you destroy this place,” You answered. He let out a scoff.
“What are you gonna do, huh? You never miss a shot,” Baekhyun growled, “And yet you missed me. What is it, honey, still got a soft spot for me?”
Your swords met again, your arms buckling with the strain. You couldn’t meet his eyes, you realized as your eyes filled with tears.
“We have you outnumbered. Call off the attack now,” You pleaded, sounding too desperate for your own good, “It’s not too late, Baek—”
“Oh, darling, I’m not stopping, not until I destroy all of it. Not if I have to burn—” His sword slashed forward, barely missing you as he roared, “—The entire Spearwood to the ground, not if I have to burn down all of Ironbend to get rid of every piece of fucking vermin in this place.”
You stepped forward, tears burning your dry eyes, and that was your mistake. In your attempt to parry, he sidestepped you, knocking you to the ground with a harsh shove. Your blade fell out of your hand, landing in the snow.
As you fell to the ground, you met Baekhyun’s gaze for the first time since your swords clashed. You were surprised to find tears streaking down his face, as well. His eyes looked like that of a wild animal, bewildered and desperate as he lifted his sword, ready to come down at you.
“And if I have to kill you too, my love?” He let out a single humorless laugh, a sad, cold smile gracing his beautifully twisted features, “So be it.”
Your eyes squeezed shut as his sword began to fall, curling into yourself as you did. You didn’t want your last sight of the man you once loved to be this distorted image of him, drunk on the pursuit of power. All you wanted was the end.
Only, the end never came. Not in the way you expected it to, at least. Because a split second later, you heard Baekhyun gasp, and a deep, guttural groan came from above you.
Your eyes snapped open, face contorting into an expression of horror as you saw the tip of Baekhyun’s sword peeking out of Chanyeol’s back, dripping blood. You watched as Chanyeol lurched forward, Baekhyun pulling off the mask, glaring up at his long lost brother with what you could only describe as bitter rage.
“You look just like the old man,” He muttered spitefully, “Go figure.”
Chanyeol didn’t answer, groaning out before coughing. Blood spilled from his lips.
Your heart began to pound, and all of the noise around you seemed to fade into nothingness. All you could focus on was the blood staining Chanyeol’s tattered shirt a dark red, dripping onto your pants and his white pelt. The only noise you could hear was your own labored breathing and your blood roaring in your ears, not feeling the trembling in your necrotic arm.
You barely even registered the ear shattering wail that echoed across the battlefield, inky black tearing at your skin as they branched out everywhere. Your eyes rolled up back into your head, your body convulsing.
You didn’t see the way they wrapped around every being within a thirty meter radius, squeezing with a vengeance. You didn’t see the way the wolves, who were on the other side of the battlefield stopped in awe to watch as you attempted to destroy everything in your path. You didn’t see Baekhyun get ripped away from Chanyeol, getting lifted some ten feet into the air as his eyes widened in terror, because he had only ever seen you hold back one of these fits. You didn’t see the few men who weren’t in your grip freeze, only able to watch as men and animals alike struggled to free themselves from you.
You didn’t see. But Chanyeol did. He watched as all of this happened in less than ten seconds, before one tendril pulled out the sword, causing him to tumble to the ground right next to you. He fell to his hands and knees, wheezing and spitting out more blood that fell from his mouth.
When he managed to register what was going on, he crawled over to you, one hand pressing down on a rapidly bleeding stab wound he couldn’t even feel due to the adrenaline rushing through his body. He watched as your hand bent back and forth, contorting impossibly. Cringing at the sound of the cracking bones and your incessant screaming, he leaned over you and reached out his free hand.
If this didn’t stop, you would kill everyone and everything in your grip and get yourself killed in the process. He grabbed your free hand with all the strength he could muster, trying to ignore the stiffness in your joints. His fingers tried to get your own fingers to grip the opal on your necklace, but nothing happened.
“Please,” He wheezed, “Please, Y/N.”
With your cries ringing in his ears, he ripped his hand from the stab wound and touched your necklace, staining your neck red as he did, before bringing your hand to his neck, from where a second opal was dangling. His necklace, the one you had returned to him only an hour or so prior.
He coughed, cringing again as blood splattered across your face. “I’ve got you,” He croaked, “That—that night, when you asked me to make it stop, Y/N, I’m—I’m here, I’m trying. Please.”
Your screaming began to quiet, and his voice dropped to a panicked whisper. “Pl—please, Y/N. Please.”
He knew it must have taken less than a few seconds, but it truly did seem like an eternity to him. The tendrils recoiled back into your arm, letting go of all of the creatures you’d had in your grip. Baekhyun fell into the snow a few feet away from you, the wind knocked out of him. Your screaming stopped, and your bones snapped into place, but your sobs didn’t stop, not as your body wracked with pain as the aftershocks kicked in.
The shock wore off on the remaining men within a minute or so, most of them beginning to flee north, dropping their weapons as they went. Jongdae came forward, already having guided an unconscious Minseok onto his reindeer. “Baekhyun, we have to go now.”
Baekhyun looked up, breathing unevenly. “No, not before I kill h—”
“There’s no time!” Jongdae barked hurriedly. “He’s gonna die anyway, look at what you did to him. And the more you stay, especially after everyone heard what you said about burning Ironbend to the ground, the worse it’s gonna be for you. So get on the damn reindeer, now.”
Baekhyun faltered, sneering before hurrying onto the reindeer. Your eyes cracked open as Jongdae got on the third reindeer, and they rode off north, presumably to lick their wounds and try and explain everything to the council.
You looked up, just as Chanyeol toppled over on top of you. You ignored the screaming in your arms and the tension in your jaw as you rolled the pair of you over, eyes brimming with tears again when the smell of blood hit your nose.
He looked so pale, beneath you. Your hands pulled his head gently onto your lap, before one of them began cradling his head. The other tried desperately to press down on the wound, but the stiffness in your arms didn’t help much.
“You can’t die like this,” You whispered hoarsely, “I just came back.”
He managed to quip a smile. “You’ll be alright,” He crooned, one hand limply. “It’s—it’s your turn now, to ride with my br—my brothers.”
“No,” You begged.
Chanyeol! You both turned your heads as the four brothers in question ran up to the both of you.
“Hey,” Chanyeol murmured, as if he wasn’t bleeding out beneath you, “That wasn’t... very fun. I… I don’t wanna do that again.”
You idiot, Junmyeon said, voice trembling, the usual chastising tone he had now empty. What’s mother gonna say when she finds out you went and got yourself killed?
You can’t die, you ass, Sehun added. You can’t.
He’s not going to.
Your head snapped up, just in time to watch two figures leap into view, a third lumbering behind them, a fourth flying overhead. Quickly, just as everyone else registered that it was the gods, your head bowed in respect.
Beval landed on a branch overhead, the fog clearing. Selyne and Emyr stopped before you, as Mirren began to round up the remaining animals, directing them across the stream.
Chanyeol, Selyne murmured, tone anxious. You never would have expected that from her. What have you done?
“What I had to do to keep you all safe,” He answered, meeting the she-wolf’s gaze. His eyes moved to look at Emyr.
“My king. I’m sorry for all the loss the forest has felt today.”
Emyr shook his head. It will mourn, but it will forever be grateful for the sacrifice you all made to keep it safe. We will honor you. Heroes, all of you.
You were trembling as you kept your head down, trying to memorize each corner of his face. Every mole, every blemish, every eyelash.
Even you, Y/N.
Your head snapped up, meeting the gaze of the deer god with your tearful eyes. “Th-thank you, great king,” You replied, “But we only did what was right.”
Indeed. But I do believe you deserve more than honor. You’ve sacrificed much. Daresay, I think you’ve proved yourself to me and to the forest.
You didn’t know why your heart sank. Despite this being what you set out to do, you didn’t feel victorious. “Oh,” You murmured, unsure what to say as Chanyeol shifted his head below you.
Oh? Selyne quipped, You’re being bestowed a gift by a god and that’s all you can say?
“I don’t want it,” You blurted, more tears running down your face. You couldn’t control your mouth even if you wanted to, shaking your head. All you could do was weep and stare down at Chanyeol. The light in his eyes seemed to be getting dimmer. “Give it to him, please. He’s done more for this forest than I ever could. Please heal him, my king, please.”
Fascinating. You would allow yourself to die if it meant that Chanyeol would live?
“Y/N, don’t do this,” Chanyeol whispered. You shook your head at him, before nodding at Emyr.
“Yes, absolutely, yes. Without a doubt. Please don’t let him die.”
What would happen to us if I, as the king of this forest, simply allowed all of my subjects to live in their time of dying? Maybe this is for the best, child. This is his fate.
“No, I can’t let that happen!”
Why not?
“Because I love him. Please, please don’t let him die.”
Emyr stared at you for a long time. Until finally, he gave you the closest thing a deer could give to a smile. Very well, he agreed. You’ve learned, girl. You’ve let go of your pride and you have sacrificed everything you previously had for our home. I will heal him… and I will heal you, as well. You’ve earned it. Both of you.
You sighed in relief, slumping over Chanyeol. The deer god approached you both, before pressing something akin to a kiss on your forehead, and then doing the same thing to Chanyeol’s hand.
For a moment, nothing happened. But then, your body seemed to sing as it jumped into the air of its own accord, Chanyeol right next to you. You watched as the wound began to close, before you felt the sensation of a weight being lifted off of your shoulders. Your eyes moved to your arm, watching as it returned to its natural color, the scars of the bite Sehun had given you fading.
You landed on your feet, managing to catch Chanyeol before he fell to the ground. He groaned, slinging his arm around your shoulder.
“How do you feel?”
“Like shit,” He admitted, “But I’ll live.”
He faced Emyr. “Thank you, my king. I can never fully repay you for what you’ve done.”
So long as you continue to protect us as you have all your life, consider your debt repaid.
You bowed your own head in respect. “Thank you. I promise to protect the forest until the day I die.”
I never would have expected it to end this way, Selyne said. I never thought I would thank you for saving my son and protecting me.
You looked at Chanyeol, who smiled weakly at you.
Um, I hate to ruin the mood, Kyungsoo mumbled, But they didn’t actually surrender. They retreated. They’ll be back. What’ll we do then?
Your smile faded, heaving a deep sigh. Baekhyun was still out there, currently on his way back to Ironbend—but he wouldn’t get off easily for essentially leading 120 men on what as basically a suicide mission and getting more than half of them killed. And he would definitely get in trouble for what he told you about being willing to burn Ironbend to the ground.
With luck, this would mean severe consequences for him. His reputation would likely suffer, and he might even get booted from the council. But now that you were gone, who was left to govern after your father passed away? You could only hope someone like Yixing would pass on to lead.
Truthfully, you weren’t sure how to answer. But in your silence, Chanyeol spoke up, reaching for one of your hands and squeezing it tightly.
“We’ll be alright,” He said, “Come what may—we’ll be alright.”
