Which seemed obvious, but the way Rody just stared like a complete idiot at the thing convinced Vincent he needed to elaborate. He felt a little stitch snag in his brow, barely resisted rolling his eyes before he extended his free hand, palm up, and waggled his fingers in a universal gesture of hand it over. But what he meant, really, was give me your hand: and he didn’t wait for Rody to comply.

“Since you don’t seem to own a clock,” Vincent continued as he took the other’s wrist and latched the watch around it himself. A moment spent adjusting the tightness, deliberating between two notches on the belt before settling on the snugger, and his gaze again locked on that dumb look Rody was still sporting. “I took the liberty of setting alarms.” His finger tapped the clock’s face. “So you don’t keep showing up to work panting like a dog.”

And even when he was done with his adjustments, his touch lingered. The fingers cradling Rody’s wrist involuntarily brushed along those two jutting bones, briefly skating over a rhythmic pulse. Vincent let a loud breath fan through his nose, and he broke away. One final squeeze, a jerk of his hand— Rody was set free.

His thumb rode up his own forearm as if it sought a ghost of that sensation. After a contemplative beat, “And learn how to tie a tie.” Vincent nodded to the sad piece of fabric hanging around his employee’s neck. “You can at the very least pretend to be professional.”

“A dash of both,” was Vincent’s effortless response, and with it the makings of a shrug not fully executed.

His attention drifted away almost lazily then—because, really, if they were going to play this game, then he planned on making it interesting in the form of difficulty, of feigned disinterest. But it did a devastating little to subdue that fresh exhilaration thrumming there still . . . especially in the face of his company’s growing smirk, and something he hadn’t managed (or wanted) to miss before breaking eye contact. Instead of watching, he listened. Oh, he listened attentively.

—almost as attentive as he hoped Andros could be later on.

The short, abrupt breath he let out next was a laugh unsuccessfully contained. “Maybe not busy enough,” he remarked. “But I will be. As long as your curiosity holds.” At that moment, Vincent steered his focus back to that pair of peculiar, if not appealing eyes, locking in and holding them once more. He dropped his cigarette to the pavement, ground it out with his shoe.

“The code is ringing the doorbell,” Vincent deadpanned, but not without a tickled little twitch at his lips. “Come hungry.” He came close to adding, And prepared to follow instructions. Though a curious side of his own ended up winning, keeping the sentiment behind his teeth.

The fun, after all, would be discovering that for himself.

the flush of hormones into vincent's veins, the excitement that made his blood pump loud enough for him to hear his pounding heart. the look he was given did not dissuade him. if anything, the curled edge to his smile widened.

" a man so dedicated to work he lives with it. admirable, or a little crazy? "

leandros grinned, but not enough to expose the sharp teeth hidden beneath his lips. the exhale of smoke in his direction was met with a chuckle.

" duly noted, i will remember this. while your beautiful homeland is far from lacking in entertaining prospects, i admit... "

the long, drawn-out drawl of his words were punctuated by an emphasized, admiring glance of vincent from head, to foot.

" i'm already curious about your ideas. but... "

the smile he wore faded, transitioning into a melodramatic sigh.

" i best let you be for now, as i imagine you are a very busy boy. " his smile returned, coy. " if i do return... do i need a special code to be let in? "

As if things weren’t already weird enough . . .

Vincent felt his head tilt unconsciously at his unexpected guest’s unintentional confession, perking that ear closer to the sound of his voice as he meandered past—like positioning it just right would make any of what Rody said even remotely sensical. At the same time as Rody was moving out of the way (again, not entirely out of character for him, but now shedding light on a new oddity: he was blatantly holding something behind his back), Vincent was mulling over his latest clumsy bumbling. No matter how swiftly the idiot went from brightening up like a child on Christmas to yanking more stupid excuses out of his ass, Vincent didn’t miss what this implied.

It just put one more nail in that coffin: Rody wasn’t being honest about anything, now was he?

But, since Vincent knew his overly devoted waiter would sooner shove his own head into the oven than harm Vincent, whatever the lies had to be covering . . . couldn’t really be a threat. (To normal people, maybe. To Vincent . . . Jesus. Well, he’d find out.)

“Fine,” Vincent snapped, harsher than he meant to: a new frazzled edge to his tone. “But if I need your help, Rody, I’ll ask for it. Otherwise—” His fingers rifled through the documents, straightening them out with one sharp snap before he let them rest in a neat pile. The statement stood on its own, complete with a piercing look. But he added, “You don’t have room to talk about organization.”

When Rody began shuffling toward the door—still very pointedly keeping his back out of view—Vincent merely pivoted to watch at first. He once more allowed the bullshit to pour out. Really, it almost impressed him, how dedicated Rody was to pulling this off. As he neared his only way out, however, Vincent eventually interjected.

“You should stay,” he offered, leaning back against his desk and folding his arms. “Or are you also going to make me watch you attempt to open the door while your hands are full—?”

Vincent's staring would've made him even more nervous if he wasn't used to it by now. But Rody wasn't out of the woods yet; instead, it was the sound he made that shut up his rambling mid-inhale. He may be oblivious to ninety-nine percent of social cues, but even he could tell that Vincent was annoyed.

And, well, if he were being honest? His silence was mostly because he had to pause and ask himself Really? What the hell, man? when that short growl did something funny to his pulse.

As did the words that followed it, after a long moment spent processing. Rody blinked dumbly, his mind sluggish compared to his quickened, fluttery heartbeat. Vince was always the one making plans and inviting him over. That was how it had always worked. But it almost sounded like...would he actually be okay with Rody coming by if he wanted to see him? (And Rody always did want to see him.)

"O-oh, well...I, uh, I guess I didn't realize that was, ya' know...allowed?" He couldn't help the hopefulness in his voice. Unfortunately, though, it was only after he said it that he realized he'd contradicted his own hasty excuses. "Iiiii mean—! Of course it is! I was planning on doing that—that was the whole reason for coming by, like I said!"

Further painting him in suspicion was how quickly he slid out of the way when Vincent crossed to his desk. A nervous laugh died partway up his throat in the face of a sharpened tone and even sharper look. Unable to raise his hands in platitude, Rody shuffled a few more paces backward. "Right, sorry—I was just...straightening it for you! I dunno how you get any work done with papers everywhere like that, so...just trying to help! But hey, uh, speaking of—"

Ya' know, maybe he would be better off just cutting his losses at this point. Rody rocked backwards on his heels. "You seem kinda busy, so maybe I should just head home..." As he spoke he began inching towards the door, careful to keep the flowers obscured behind his back. "I just wanted to stop by and see you, sooo mission accomplished! I don't wanna bug you if you've got work to do..." After midnight, for some reason...he thought wryly, but at least he had enough sense to keep that to himself.

So far, Rody was following orders well.

Well enough that Vincent hadn’t needed to resort to certain measures to keep him obedient, though he had the proper materials readily available there in his nightstand if that line was ever crossed . . .

He felt, in the moments after he asked a painfully difficult question, he rather liked that he didn’t need them.

Because he just as much felt the tension in those bedsheets become taut, wrinkles of fabric closest to Vincent’s straddling knees alerting him to the fists forming at Rody’s side—desperate, as needy as the chorus of sounds already tumbling out of those lips—and one clear sentiment came to mind.

“Good.” He breathed the word more than he spoke it, lips tracing a heady heat along Rody’s collarbone. “Very good, Rody.”

Pointedly, Vincent wasn’t allowing any other part of them to touch. He hovered expertly over that frame, legs spread wide enough to leave space between his knees and Rody’s thighs, but not too wide that their hips were pressed together (oh, not yet; that’d be for later). Every single point of contact was supposed to be deliberate, dizzying, driving the man to madness, and already with the way things were going . . . Vincent had no doubt they’d get there. He would push him, tempt him, taunt him, and he’d see—

Just how obedient can you be?

Though somewhat difficult to track in the dim light, Vincent had been charting a course across the constellation of moles flecking his partner’s body: a fascinating, endearing quality that had piqued his interest long before the shirt came off, practically delighted him when he saw it spanning so much more of him. He moved farther down his sternum on that path, the oh-so-fleeting thought of how much he loved the freedom of his own hands passing him as one of those very things couldn’t resist riding the curve of his waist. His palm found that hipbone, and his thumb curled almost possessively into the flesh there inside it.

“But what did I just say about talking . . . ?” Vincent murmured the words into Rody’s chest. “Let your body do all of that for you.” —for fucking once. He cocked his head to flash him a stern look, which was only somewhat marred by a quirk on his mouth. “It’s doing a good enough job of that already.”

She noticed the gold on his finger. “Actually, it’s, uh… You’ve got it backwards,” he finally says, wheeling his hands together. He stops, face bright. “—Like I won the lottery.”

This nameless girl is all sugar-sweet laughs, the streetlamps sucked into her eyes. He’s only known her for all of five minutes, but he can imagine, with absolute clarity, that she has people wrapped around her finger like bees to honey. Maybe: flies to a web. The bus turns and tosses neon lights onto her face. Cherry, purple, pink.

“Nothing wrong with a little—and, dare I say, healthy,” he starts, his finger out, “rule-breaking.” Sam smiles back, something rakish about him like a businessman with a little secret - guess what it is. “Gotta call the boys in blue...” he drawls, then, easy. “Bet you’re stealing all the hearts.”

It’s a joke. All innocent fun.

She asks if he can take her to where he works. His eyes sparkle, a half-laugh.

“Wouldn’t you know it? Out-of-towner,” he huffs instead of a ‘no, I can’t.’ It’s not even a lie. “But, hey- We’re talking ghosts?” he plays. “I see ‘em all the time. I mean- do I know how to knock them dead or what?”

Another joke. Sam holds up a hand and says kidding, but maybe he isn’t. Sam smiles, voice crackly. “I’ve got stories that’ll make your head spin.”

 the joke draws out an easy giggle from plump lips , livelier than before and even covering her mouth while laughing like it's not three in the morning . ❛ your wife is lucky . ❜  a drop dead gorgeous man with a fondness to candlelit dinners and roses , the cliché of romance movies that akina often failed to find attractive . darkness lured her in , because people thought she could cure them . they never saw what was staring back at them , and it may work for her advantage because loneliness isn't what women like akina mori wants . his jacket around bare shoulders , tempts akina to ask if she can take it home — and maybe take him home too . a tattooist boyfriend with a giant motorbike definitely sounded trouble and after jax went to prison , she didn't answer the calls or messages . so , an empty apartment is what's she's heading toward . ❛ i'm as free as the government laws allow me to be . ❜  a wink , just the gentle flick of eyelid , curled lashes . tips of cold fingers grip the coat to pull it tighter around herself . a pair of stations and she'd be home , she has time . ❛ you know , i've always wanted to know if graveyard guys see ghosts . i mean – by now the ghosts would have gotten used to them . right ? maybe you could take me to your workplace — how about now ?? you said something about being a graveyard shift . ❜  her english might not be that advanced after all .

12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them

Less "unpopular" and more "underutilized", but Rachel Casich, the BD producer from the Sinnerman questline. I LOVE how much of a bitch she is, and it's also fun to be able to tag along with a corpo-type on a mission and actually get to hear her out as to the who's and why's of her character-- every other corpo-type character you interact with is either disgraced (Takemura), a huge irredeemable dick (Joanne Koch), or a punching bag (the corpo at the start of Pepe's quest, to name only one), so it's nice that we get a mission where we get to interact with a corpo who's none of those, and actually gets to raise some decent points. Plus she's lowkey hilarious. Simmerman was kinda GOATED in terms of good character writing and I wanted to highlight how much I enjoyed hers, though I can get why people like her.

17. there should be more of this type of fic/art

I am such an unabashed slut for art thats put characters into the tarot card that they think represents them. Bonus points if it's their Vs and they get put into the positioning of their symbolic tarot card. I would honestly commission an artist to do a whole set just solely comprised of V-centered major arcana tarot cards-- 22 Vs with the 22 cards their creators think they best represent. This isn't even based on something thematic or canonical, this is literally for my own personal enjoyment.

22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores

This is a really niche one but bear with me-- the hidden dialogue you can trigger with Johnny in The Frolics of Councilwoman Cole questline out in Downtown, where Johnny will appear on a yacht and advocate for spitting in the eyes of billionaires. The main reason I know that dialogue isn't common knowledge by the fandom is because I know everyone would reference it if it was.

The girl had a passion for cooking that was as much admirable as it was . . . nostalgic. As Vincent observed the way she meticulously put together these “rice balls,” he just as much observed the expression on her face, how it glowed and beamed with equal pride and joy in what she was doing. She was putting into this what some—in particular, Rody—would accuse his food of lacking: love. And when she cheerfully answered his curiosities, he briefly got lost in his own head, wondering . . . Had he ever looked like this—?

Not that it mattered. Lamenting what one had lost didn’t help anyone; it definitely wouldn’t help him.

He hummed a bit as he considered the list of fillings, eyes trailing over that neat row as if quietly envisioning all the different options a cook would have with something like this—leaving room for a lot of creative freedom. “And those are mostly savory, right?” His arms folded, something to occupy his hands while he continued to avoid actually eating what the girl had made for him. “Do they become more of a dessert if you were to add something sweet? Perhaps the fruit you mentioned, as an example.”

SHE HAD NEVER BEFORE gotten to make these for a BIG SHOT CHEF! And so understandably, Itsuki was not just super excited, but perhaps a tiiiinsy bit nervous about sharing such a DEARLY LOVED RECIPE with him. Putting a lil' more elbow grease (And love, you can't forget the love!) into this particular batch, and making sure that this would be her best onigiri yet!

Still, while he was quite serious if not a tad scary looking to her (She already didn't even want to imagine getting on his bad side!), the bro had actually been quite kind. Giving her the space that she needed to work, while watching on with nothing more than a CURIOUS EYES. One that she would often return with an almost silly little beam and giggle, while she continued to work away...

"Yup~! Or ya can jus' call em rice balls, if ya want!"

And oh, that's a good question, bro! One that Itsuki had never been asked before--And well, that's why you're the EXPERT ON COOKING, bro!

With the plated row of onigiri remaining on the table beside them for the time being, the little one would begin listing out a few fillings off the top of her head. "Well, there's... salmon, tuna, mayo... sour plum... oh! Ya can stuff em' wit' fish eggs too... Ya can put all sort-sa meat, fruits an' veggies (Eurgh!) in em', really!" What could you use as a filling that wouldn't work, really? At that thought, Itsuki couldn't help but let a bubbly laugh escape past her lips. For some reason tickled over what she would utter out next, "Ah think it's gotta be somethin' dat's GROSS, ta really make an onigiri... not an onigiri, bro!"

Don’t get me wrong, I love AWL Erik.

I love iterations where he looks more human like *coughs* Gerik *coughs* but I want a gloopy, sloopy, spoopy Erik.

I want an ‘Erik’ who Lerik would scream at in terror, and who Erik Destler would say “Hey bestie, slay! 💅🔪🩸”

While on the subject of how I want to draw my favorite book characters:

I want a Daroga with weight on his bones, a hefty man; a man who you’d feel safe with if a zombie was constantly sending you marriage proposals. So yeah, he’s gonna be a chunky man. He’s my comfort character, besides Cherik.

Additionally, keeping with my own lore from my one shots, Raoul is gonna have a boxer bod. More importantly, he’s gonna be a dandy/fopish boxer. I think it’s a cute idea and it’s where the dopamine is.

On Darius, I’m thinking a calisthenics/slim build. Just an average assistant who has to deal with a ghoul now and then for his boss. My man didn’t sign up for this.

I’m still trying to figure out how I’m going to draw Christine; I’m wanting an ethereal fae, a nice juxtaposition of death (ghoul!erik) and life (fae!chris). I’ll do more research on Nordic folklore and art so I can get a better idea, but there will be art nouveau in her styling.

Mama V is another I’ve got to tackle. I honestly don’t know what vibe best fits her. I need to re-read the book and what ever image/vibe it get while reading is what I’m sticking with.

Now Philippe, I have an idea, but is more of a vibe. He’s going to be barrel chested and thick necked. The man would look like a mountain when you saw him. Literally this guy, Harry Pelta:

Imagine that’s Philippe holding up Raoul. That’s the vibe I want to convey.

Everyone else will come later, those are the main ones I’m working on now.

And uh yeah, that’s what’s happening so far with my poto fan art in case anyone was wondering where it was.

I wanted something unique and different that I would be happy with while drawing and I think I’ve finally figured it out.
