i have so many thoughts about the tommy song/video and theyre a jumbled mess. i wouldnt call this an analysis this is just. most of my thoughts surrounding the video and what it shows about tommy

one of the things that stuck out to me (outside of how depressing and just like. is this guy okay) is something that ive always respected tommy for because he's always stuck with it and its his like. fervent conviction in people doing things theyre passionate about. thats always been one of the things he talks about all the time!!!

when AI started appearing he was talking about death of creativity, with the internet he's always talking about how the real tragedy is the algorithm killing people's passion by driving them with views and money, and even when he talks about youtube itself, and nowadays standup, its so full of passion.

and i think thats really important because it would be extremely easy for someone like tommy, who's in the process of maturing his online image from a very loud, immature and PASSIONATE persona, to make fun of it. it would be so easy to do like so many other creators and laugh at how "cringe" it was and make a quick cash/attention grab with a funny clip of him laughing at himself. but he never has. well don't get me wrong he's laughed at himself or old videos but it's always just. good natured taking the piss out of himself, it's never this like. mocking your younger self who was so excited to do what they did only because now its "cringe".

not only is he constantly giving that advice to other people (its been years of him replying, to any kid in his chat or donations asking advice on how to be a creator etc, "just go and do it if you love it!!"), he's coherent with how he applies it to himself. he realised he was making cash grab tiktok react vids and hated it so much he just stopped uploading for a while.

i dont know i just think there's something admirable about being able to still be sincere in a time where everything especially online has to be processed through a layer of irony. and its even funnier because he's more sincere THROUGH the irony i mean he's literally going into standup.

letting yourself create something that "means" something is fucking hard especially when half the internet still sees you as a kid who screams around. except the thing is that kid DID make stuff that mattered and that meant something because he was, in his own words, having fun.

i think thats what the format of the video was about too. i mean i think it was pretty clearly not a song thats meant to be streamed, its not purely music, its also a video because tommy is also first and foremost an editor who went to film college. its also not a "comedy" song like he's made some before, because those were all intentionally created to land as many jokes and make a big buzz— which doesnt mean they were bad! im philza is a contemporary lyrical masterpiece. but they had a specific purpose and it was to make people laugh and i think this video was completely like. opposite of what peoples expectations are of tommy. the "wow hes not a child anymore hes being mature🤓" reactions are the most obvious aspect of this (which, like, its been a while, get with the program).

i think the point of this was to make something that genuinely meant something but that was also like. as unpalatable to the algorithm and to the TommyInnit Viewer as possible. even now that he's gone into making quieter, more reflective videos, we've never had the flashing texts and the projector images and just all of that. hes always talking about how he hates the way the "youtube formula" has dictated the course of content and stolen all creativity for youtubers. its not meant to be a YouTube Video tm. its just meant to mean something to someone, and obviously process some sort of personal emotions, and i just think thats. yeah. yeah

i mean he even says so outright. "this needless, self indulgent spiral of self gratification" is pretty damn explicit. its not meant to be funny content its really a cry for help or for just. anything at all really

it was also a lot about perception, yknow the "entertainer" dilemma, "its all attention porn"... theres a layer of this point thats universal, everyone struggles with how they're perceived and i think any "artist" or "entertainer" figure can see themselves in it, but there's also a layer thats completely impermeable to most of us because it touches upon the sheer absurdity of a "youtuber". especially one of tommy's popularity. especially one who blew up so so fast so young. i honestly think its IMPOSSIBLE to process that. its about the ethics of having millions of people's time so readily available to you if you just press the right buttons to make the algorithm happy and then you've got them. im like 75% sure i remember him saying this on stream once, something like "your time is valuable" and if a fan didnt value him as an entertainer they should drop him.

and even here^ thats the saddest "lmao" ive seen in my life SORRY LOL but its really just. yeah im not gonna repeat myself it speaks for itself. perception and internet expectations and all that

one of the other images that stuck out to me was also this:

"yeah i know its too much like bo burnham but it wont be in a year though. in a year it will be like tom simons. just let me figure out what that means, ok?"

a lot of the video is about. influences and inspirations. the bo burnham references are so obvious he's poking at them, but i think he's raising a good point about the creativity that he's constantly praising. its never something that springs up on its own, its all about looking at others work and making it your own and feeding yourself with all those experiences and slowly, surely building your own way of doing things (tommyinnit "minecraft talent show" and "a tribute to dream smp" serial quackity + schlatt impersonator would know all about that) ->

and its daunting! its fucking scary to move away from that! which is also the main vibe i got from the video which, outside of his own issues with how he's perceived online, was the sort of existential dread that comes with actually creating. its one thing to preach you need to be passionate and create, its another to sit down and create something thats BY you. its a part of growing up! and we're literally seeing him do it live (well the bits that he chooses to show obviously)! thats also part of why i think tommy's so relatable to so many people is that he's so like. honest and real about what it's like to grow up, simple as that, and growing into yourself.

"this was everything to me" and using the picture of his younger self... man. theres obviously so much sadness underlying the whole thing but i think the nostalgia and melancholy in mourning being someone who was only inspired/excited by your interests and role models is universal. and obviously for tommy a lot of those influences turned out. well i think it was pretty damn clear who/what he was referring to here. ->

i don't think i need to go too in detail about that, especially cause a lot of the video was clearly a way to process his own personal emotions. especially with those next few images. i just hope he's okay and that god doubles his pain and gives it to mr beast to quote my friend bronzetomatoes. man.

of course he had to end with a funny clip about a hot anime girl and i think that kinda. sums it all up in a way. if that makes sense. at the end of the day its about the fact that he has to use humour to make the thing work when its out in the open, even when he tries not to and to be actually honest, but theres also the fact that hes literally a comedian and creating something "honest" IS through humor. its kindof a double edged sword

ANALYSIS/THEORY RAMBLE IN READ MORE !!

Perhaps I'm going insane and it's the 4/5 am speaking but...

Each of them represent Mephone4 in a way. That's why they're the ones he left behind. This is why theyre the finale 4. This is why Taco is also here. This is important.

Baseball

He's more so a follower than a leader. Which is easy to say Mephone4 was a follower to Cobs.

He did what Nickel thought was best, even though Baseball even doubted the suggestions. Nickel always talked down to Baseball's opinion, and even used Baseball against himself at times. He needed Nickel.

Nickel wasnt the leader, yet Baseball was following his every word.

Mephone4 created the show, but Adam... Steve Cobs was always pulling some strings here and there.

Eventually, when Nickel was eliminated he felt so so lost. He had no direction, no where to go.

Mephone4 had no direction at first himself when he learned who Cobs truly was. He felt betrayed by the one who was closest to him. Hurt. So he fled.

They're both running away from the issue. The home they made. Certain people they should've cared more for and listened to. (Suitcase/Toilet)

Baseball is also the part that wants to get serious from what he fled from.. from what he lost... but could never really confront the problem until it's brought up to his face.

Similiar to Mephone4! But he took copium in a different route. Which leads to-

Lightbulb

LIGHTBULBBB... Ughhhhh!!!

She is all of Mephone4's suppression.

Focus on fun! Games !! Whimsy, silly!!

Distractions.. Lightbulb was sad and alone on the inside.. but on the outside, she is cheery and happy!! Nothing can dull this bright light! She's not even transparent !!

This can also apply to Mephone4. He runs this show to escape his problems, to have an escape from his worries and fears. Lightbulb symbolizes his anxieties by completely ignoring her own.

But that shell started to break once all of Lightbulb's companions were eliminated from the game. She was alone and disheartened. Her emotional support, gone. The lightheartedness was still there, but was breaking. All the pressure weighing on her shoulders, the pressure of being responsible. The pressure of doing good to her team!...

Similiar to the pressure of needing to be perfect. Generate this perfect, do this task right. Isn't it, Mephone4? The need to satisfy.

When she finally gets her crew back, she lights up again. Mephone4 needs this fake reality, because like Lightbulb with the Bright Lights, the contestants are his light too.

When Lightbulb comes face to face with MephoneX, she sees Paintbrush before the end, supporting her. Trying to help.

She accepts her defeat, her end, with a smile.

Mephone4 didn't have any support. He accepts his defeat with a frown. If he had a light at that moment, perhaps he would've been more confident.

Suitcase

Suitcase, out of all the others, is the only newbie left in the competition. She's been around the least amount of time.. she's new.

She's alone.

Sure she met Nickel, Baseball and Balloon, but as the final four, she doesn't trust Baseball anymore. Nickel and Balloon got voted out.

She refused to bring Baseball into the final two due to the issues of leadership and trust. Knife gave her trust and friendship, what true alliances could be.

Mephone4 trusted Floor in season 3. What partnership done right can provide you if the two parties actually accept one another. And are honest.

Other than this.. Suitcase focuses on the false parts of reality over reality itself since she can't figure out what's real or fake.. This can relate to Mephone4 struggling to let the show go.. this is his life, he doesn't want to leave it. Everyone here feels real yet he didn't realize til later that it's all fake.

One last thing relating to the two.. they're outside the comfort zone.

Suitcase is the one season 2 debuter that was left over. Mephone4 was the most unique out of all other Mephone products. They're a needle in a haystack.

Knife

Knife is a bit more hard to crack on how he relates as I dont have as much thought on him.. but here's some thoughts...

Knife overall is a tough guy. He focuses on reality more than fiction. He's a contrast to Suitcase, who struggles to piece what's real and fake.

In relation to Mephone4, Knife can act a bit smug. Mainly when it comes to his teasing with Taco in S2E15, it gave some kinda Mephone4 charm of messing with people.

He cares for people despite his fronting jerk attitude, being accepting and even providing advice.

The best trait Knife can be given is his major growth from who he once was. He was always a soft hearted guy, but he slowly learned to show that more often to the outside.

As for Mephone4.. he's also attempting this. It's just much harder for him.

Mephone4 has the constant show/host persona up, yet it is shown the contestants mean alot to him.. more than they could ever possible understand.

Like Knife, Mephone4 learned how to express himself just a little bit more..

Taco

Taco. Taco Taco Taco.

It's easy to pick up what she's about..

Betrayal. Wanting to leave it all behind. Staging an act. A front. Manipulation.

So much of this can relate to Mephone4 and his history.

Taco is all of Mephone4's guilt, thoughts, trauma and etc jumbled into one messy taco oc.

Taco put up an act, Mephone4 puts up an act.

Taco went into hiding, Mephone4 went into hiding.

Taco is British, Mephone4 is- uh... no he's not British. Why is Taco Britis-

Back to the point.

Taco is the most in depth character out of them all. Her whole story line can be pieced and compared to Mephone4's, at least in theming.

It all starts in season 1, where she's different from the rest of the cast. She's zany, wacky. But she also has smart moments. The finale of season 1 showed she fooled them all, planned this from the beginning.

In a way, this here can relate to Steve Cobs. Mephone4 maybe felt like he was being played the fool. He thought Cobs of what appeared like a father figure.. someone he could have fun and joy with. Later down the line, Mephone4 realizes Cobs wasn't what he pictured him to be. Which was a cruel person who harms others for his benefit. (Mephone3gs)

Taco also harms people for her own benefit. She betrays Pickle, manipulates Microphone, is a thief, kills Test Tube, and practically offers weapons at any given notice.

An innocent object who actually wasn't a friend at all. Someone who betrays others.

But unlike Cobs, Taco is much more than that.

Alongside Mephone4's betrayal of Cobs' true motives, Taco also fits Mephone4's overall rebellious actions against Cobs.

If Mephone4 ever chose to rebel that is. Mephone4 ran away, but Taco strikes back. She's probably what Mephone4 wished he could've done. Take action.

The moment Taco noticed Microphone leave the game.. she goes to convince EVERYONE to leave the game.

What if this was also a parallel to Meeple?...

What if Mephone4 truly wanted to help everyone there.. but he just couldn't.

In the end, the thought of Pickle finding Taco broke her down. The one who she hurt.. finding her here.

Mephone4 breaks down at the thought of everyone finding out. At the thought of Cobs finding him.

In the end.. each character Mephone4 froze in time and left behind...

Were him.

He was overall... running from himself. Not just Cobs.

Himself.

His story. His life.

Things outside of this show.

The two leaders. The two sides of positivity and negativity.

The two finalists. The borders of reality and fiction.

Taco. The outcast and desire of needing a change.

They're all for you, Mephone4.

the way you write is so beautiful... tips for somebody new to writing who wants to write like you?

YOU are so beautiful, thank you so much! im not sure about any tips i have, but ill give it a shot. these are what i personally believe to have been the most important things:

find your wavelength my writing became a lot more stylized and personalized after i found an author that i resonated with, as well as a couple of themes. it just helps to know what you are actually interested in writing in, versus what you think other people would like to read. im personally interested in writing about relationships and dynamics, so my writing will always be more character than action driven. also, it helps, because youre always going to end up writing what you want to write, even in the smallest of ways, so why not embrace it fully? write what you want to read. otherwise, you wont have fun. and writing is SO MUCH FUN. knowing what youre into and what youre trying to channel gives you a really strong basis for all of your writing - not only will it take time for you to find your wavelength, meaning that youll have to expose yourself to many different genres and authors, which is a must, youll always be able to look back at that ONE creative piece and grab some motivation from it.

expose and explore creativity is everywhere - tv shows, movies, books, fanfics, comics, art, architecture, history (!!!), mythology, sports, reality - literally everywhere you can think of. dont wait for inspiration because its everywhere if you look hard enough. familiarize yourself with the seven basic plots, the thirty-six dramatic situations, basic foreshadowing elements, and other essentials. this isnt something to study or memorize, just to KNOW - its good to be aware of the foundations of literature.

embrace the brainrot and maintain a balance become obsessed w your own ocs, your own plots, your own everything. be your own biggest fan. to enter an abusive relationship with your own work is extremely upsetting, because youre doing wrong by the wonderful world youve made, and doing wrong by that part of you that just wants to be creative, too - and if that happens, its probably because you arent writing what you want to write, or controlling what doesnt want to be controlled. let your characters be individuals, let them go where they want to go, just follow and note what theyre doing. sometimes writing is a passive activity rather than active creation, and thats okay! thats when you know youve built a solid world that can run by itself and you just contribute to. that being said, while theres nothing quite like the hours spent ravenously typing, you need to find a balance. you are as important as your work, because without you, the work wouldnt exist. i also reccomend forcing yourself NOT to write on specific days. some ideas need to marinate, and some people need to rest.

This prompt list above has two word prompts, and an AU prompt for each day in the week. there are not three prompts each day unless you want there to be, theres just multiple options!

for each prompt, you can use your art medium to create something centered around that prompt. the usual is art/fanfiction, but other mediums are welcome!

anyway: sbk shadow people au 👀?

YOU HAVE GIVEN ME INFINITE POWER

a quick recap of what Shadow People AU is: alternate universe where 1.15, on top of everythin else it Actually added, included a poorly-documented new mechanic where you could summon a black-and-yellow shadow copy of yourself. if you killed your shadow you would get a copy of everything you had in your inventory when you summoned it, but it would also be stronger with each death. if a shadow dies enough times, they can evolve to the point of being able to strategize, to build, and to communicate. oops! theyre self-aware!

there's a lot more to it than that, but ill explain as we go. because my favorite thing to do ever is apply this concept to different mcyt series and explore what might happen, and ive been toying with makin a variant for sbk. SO LETS GOOOOOOO

Viking would use his shadow to dupe materials and as an extra hand when buildin farms, so his shadow would develop to be more work-focused i think. zeroes in hard on a task and will not give up until its done. leave him alone he's got Shit To Do. either Viking gives him a cool mythology name, he continues the season nicknamin scheme to match Summertime, or Avid calls him somethin dumb and it sticks.

Vintage gets Antique. bottom text. i can actually just point at Antique as-is and go "yeah that's her shadow" LMAO. recolor the colored bits yellow and give her her eyes back and Antique is good to go. fun fact: the only* thing that can kill a shadow is their summoner or another shadow. run.

(* theres more than that but this post is already pretty long. spau is Big.)

Ruby is probably where we first run into the idea of "entity corruption", because god knows whats going on with Cherruby. basically if you've gotten corrupted by an entity in any way (eg Scar and Cub havin Vex magic, Watcher Grian, Karl Jacobs gettin put in the time travel blender), that bleeds over to your shadow and can cause... problems. i have a lot of thoughts about how this applies to TSMP specifically, but im squintin at Cherruby going what is your deal because there is SOMETHING messin with zhem and whatever it is is gonna mess with xis shadow too.

Avid would not risk havin a shadow. the most obvious reason is bc his shadow would be Super corrupted bc of basically everythin that happened in Nightmares, but the actual reason is that it would look like Avoid and that would freak Avid out too much :,D

rose suggested Marmalade would have the Old Shadows and OOGHGHHHHH FUCK . that goes hard. basically there's an associated dimension called the Shadowlands, and you can royally screw up your shadow's data by goin there before theyve finished forming for the first time. the outcome is a maxed-out shadow with a god complex that is capable of whatever you think its capable of. Marm might've drawn a connection between the Shadowlands and the Void, tried to use it as another way to get down to the Limbo border when the Void wasn't lettin her in, and instead got the Abyss equivalent. probably just named Void because of initially assuming theyre an extension of the Void itself.

Trog would be the runner-up for the Old Shadows, i think, but also they probably thought about it and went "nah" and forgot to warn anyone else that thats a thing. continues the trend with my Trog hcs of lookin perfectly normal and Not Being Normal At All. not entity corruption, just, like. corruption corruption. somethin broke here.

wait lmao i just realized something really funny and its that Fool's shadow would literally just look like him but all shadow-y. bc Fool already normally has the yellow/gold cracks. solar probably will have more ideas on what to do with this guy but i am proudly announcing that it is now Two Of Them Thursday

i cant decide if Leon's shadow shows signs of ender-ification before he does, or if he stays Completely Normal while Leon mutates. the latter is probably more interestin bc shadows gettin messed with is a pretty common trait in the au so havin a situation of "the shadow is normal while their summoner gets more and more fucked up" is fun. also: shitpost incarnate. this penguin cannot be stopped by any mortal means

i dont know how the tube thing would affect the shadows, is the fun part. like, "mechanically" the way the shadows work is they're tied to playerdata, so the likely idea is that Cloneby would have Cherruby's shadow. that's fun and fucked up!

fun side note: shadows are ground bound. they can do the kingdom hearts heartless thing of going flat to travel up surfaces and fit through spaces but they cannot jump over gaps. skyblock is maybe the worst experience for a shadow ever LMAO

had some thoughts that aren't as serious and nothing to do with the allegations but i want to talk about them before theyre irrelevant for the rest of time so i will readmore them ok

i really really hated it back when the marriage proposal happened and everyone made it out into this cutesy romantic thing 😭 that shit was so uncomfortable. like if you want a deranged forced marriage thats cool i had nothing against that! but every take that was like "they have a fake wedding to kill forever and then everyone just takes it as a real marriage and calls them husbands" and i was like wow thats horrifically fucked up i hope that doesn't happen jesus christ. i would hope their friends wouldnt do that to either of them?? like murder wedding? cool! forced marriage? cool! acting like bbh would want a marriage and not be miserable? nnnnnooo???????? genuinely a nightmare? this drove me insaaaane during the wedding thing i just did not get why people wanted 4halo to be this cutesy romance like dawg i saw people comparing it to pissa and wanting that for them. i did not want pissa that sounds like kinda horrific given 4halo's history?

anyway besides that during the election arc i was always annoyed with the accusation bbh wouldnt let people vote if they were okay with skeppy being added. and then he clarified he would let people vote to approve whoever his new addition was. but then literally no one else had to do that? nobody else gave a fuck about the other islanders voting for a new addition? for the record i would not trade bagi for skeppy. skeppy would not be logging on much at all and bagi is by far such an active and fun character. it was just the fact that was a point of contention that only ever applied to bbh that pissed me off

ok and finally: forever using dapper who was at the time missing to get information out of bbh about the kidnapped worker was extremely fucked up and people taking it as a romantic gesture was fucking weird as hell. like first of all who gives a shit about a worker why would you /EVER/ use someone's missing child you have NO INFORMATION ON to lie to get information out of them. THAT SHIT WAS FUCKED I DO NOT GET HOW PEOPLE SAW IT AS CUTE AND ROMANTIC?

also forever's voting system sucked it got nothing done except ban furniture and literally no recommendations to improve it were ever taken into account. and he wasn't even online enough during his presidency to like actually do anything with it. bbh was right about how to do the voting system and tubbo independently coming up with a similar voting system suggestion to bbh's when he saw it was wildly vindicating

do yall ever think about how duck has a very obvious bias towards red guy that he doesn’t have for anyone else? duck was following along with the electricity thing until red guy was like “hey youre not plugged in” and then duck IMMEDIATELY agreed with him. duck is a very selfish character and always thinks that he (and only he) is right about everything, but this doesnt apply to red guy for some reason. red guy is the only person duck will ever hear out. even when duck disagrees with him he isnt as harsh on red guy as he would be to anyone else. in the transport episode for example, duck very much DID NOT want to go anywhere. he argued, sure, but in the end he let red guy use the car with him in it. duck would not do that shit for anyone else. if anyone else was driving that car and he didnt want to go, he would be shattering windows to get out. duck doesnt do things that he doesnt want to do, unless its for red guy, and then hes angry about it but he does it anyway. is he annoying about it? yes. but he still let red guy drive him. and that says a lot about how biased he is.

my favorite example of this is in the friendship episode when red guy says “you said you weren’t going to talk to him like that anymore” which implies that at some point, DUCK, THE BIGGEST STUBBORN ASS ON THE PLANET, had a discussion with red guy and agreed to not make fun of yellow guy anymore. did he follow through? no, but just the fact that he agreed in the first place is astounding. he wouldnt do that for anyone but red guy. and then later he says “dont turn on me” in response to red guy scolding him which isnt very relevant i just think its really funny. theyre a gayass old married couple but i digress

anyway, i think its interesting that red guy makes duck a slightly better person. red guy isnt a good person either but hes on the better end compared to duck and sometimes he drags duck up to his level. red guy might be a bit of an ass but hes easily redeemable, and by slightly bettering duck, he doesnt make duck a good person, but he does make duck more redeemable. basically he gets duck closer to being a good person.

i like the reflection of this too, because duck makes red guy an even worse person. red guy is also very easily swayed by duck. sometimes he’ll scold duck into being slightly better, but sometimes duck will persuade him into being worse, and it all depends on how theyre feeling in the moment. the biggest example of this is in the bigger boys room. the red guy we usually see would normally discourage duck from torturing the little blob thing, and even if our duck might not be against it, hed be less inclined to go along with it if red guy disagreed. however both of the big boys could not care less, theyre bored and have nothing to do but jab shit into their experiment thing. red guy doesnt care what duck does anymore. and dont get me wrong, saying its ducks fault that red guy became like this is taking away his responsibility. red guy became like this because he was already heading down that path himself. but i think its interesting that depending on whos persuading the other, they either get better or worse. it shows how theres good and bad in both of them. they effect eachother more than people think, and they probably dont even realize it.

What would happen if the engines in your AU met the engines in the Young Iron AU?

Well...this has actually been a discussion before. I'm lucky enough to be friends with @tornadoyoungiron , and we've talked about what would happen if our AUs collided. So heres the main take aways from what would happen if Grand Theft Sodor met Young Iron.

A. All the YI engines (besides Flying Scotsman/City of Turo/ Sodor engines) are getting jumped by their GTS counterparts over their treatment of Tornado. Without question. YI Tornado was seen as a fake, a pretender. GTS Tornado is seen as the hope of preservation. People loving steam engines so much they brought a class back from extinction. Blue Peter specifically needs to hightail it as soon as possible.

B. YI Great Northen and GTS Great Northern would clash, possibly the worst of all. GTS Great Northern led the class, and the LNER when Gordon was sold to the NWR. YI Great Northern managed to turn both against himself. They would be utterly unrecognizable to each other.

C. GTS Tornado would take her YI counterpart on an adventure. Also pray for any YI engine that tried to treat her the same way as YI Tornado, because theyre about to reminded just how powerful the Peppercorns truly are.

D. Thomas/Cassandra (GTS) and Thomas (YI) would be keeping an eye on the Tornados from a distance, not ruining their fun, but in range in case any mainline engines try anything. Thomas/Cassandra is more serious and worn then their YI counterpart, but the two number ones would recongize each other.

E. The Great Westerns would be at war. The GTS GWR was the largest family in Britian, they would be appaled at the class sytem the YI GWR had. When they learned of the treatment of Lady of Legend? The Calley Twins will be helping the GTS Great Westerners apply war paint.

F. Perhaps most intersting collsion isn't of engines, but of dieties.

The Lady (GTS) and Lady (YI). Sisters, but both would believe the other is failing their universe.

Young Iron's Lady believes they should only intervene in divine matters, and so only intervenes when she has to, and even then she is more likely to act through the gold wardens so as not to affect the fabic of her world, as she is aware too much influence could unravel existance.

Grand Theft Sodor's Lady is going to save her children, end of story. She was put in place to protect them, and she will not fail. But there are consequences to her interventions. The veil wears thin, and monsters arise.

YI Lady things GTS Lady is reckless with her power. That she is risking her reality to save engines that are mortal in the first place. They will all return to them in the end anyway.

GTS Lady believes YI Lady is letting her children die needlessly out of fear, and that she is failing the very reason for her existance.

Both Young Iron and Myself agree that neither are fully right or wrong.

YI Lady has not caused even a fraction of the tears in reality that GTS lady has...but her children had nothing to believe in when their time came. Most engines don't even believe she exists. This is why engines in Young Iron tend towards looking out for themselves, its all they've ever had. It also means that when YI Lady actually needs to intervene...shes limited. She doesnt use her power, so shes not used to it.

GTS lady has saved more of her children. they believe in her, and are more likely to turn to each other for help...but monsters roam the lands. By the end of Steam the veil wore thin indeed, and beings like The Beast, The Creature, and Screech would continue to rise for decades after the fall of steam. She saved many of her children, but at a steep cost to the world.

YI Lady has less power...but doesnt really need it, and her world has only seen the hint of monsters.

GTS lady is at her full potetial...but needs all of it to keep the tears in reality at bay.

Now there are no plans for a crossover fic. We're both busy keeping up with our own AUs...but heres some ideas that have been thrown around just for fun.

A. Showdown of the Ladies-Caomhnóir is taken by Young Iron Lady, who wishes to confront her sister over her reckless use of her powers.

B. Harlequin- Young Iron Mallard (circa 64ish) gets thrown to the Uman and Din, where he meets Screech. Can she teach him to master his black smoke. Can he get back home, and will he want to?

i saw people bring up this point again and im glad but HELLO!!!!! LETS STOP JUST ASSOCIATING LAMPERT AS WALLTER AND MARK'S SON? EVEN WHEN IT HAS BEEN DISCREDITED /MULTIPLE/ TIMES? like DAMN this fandom only attributes characteristics if it is attached to literally anyone else besides that person. its horrible. people NEED to learn to find the balance between having fun with that headcanon while also acknowledging lampert as his own separate person that is (to be quite frank) not even associated with them that much in canon

people gotta stop relying on the wiki for information man. so much lore from yeucc's tumblr has been retconned and at this point, when there's now WRITERS for the game that are actually keeping tabs, all if not the good majority of what is said on the wiki should be taken with a grain of salt. nowadays the lore is unpredictable, and only a select few (by few i mean like. 4 out of the 17 npcs) has had their lore expanded on significantly

general facts i think is fine so long as theres an annotation backing it but my point still stands . moreso with lore generally

also saw this point being brought up in the qrts but the demonization and infantilization of certain characterss (cough spud pilby pest and poob) is like. wild. i dunno i can't say much since i'm very fortunate enough to not have seen that much but my god is it prevalent from what people are saying

with pest especially since he has npd and aspd i do think that. people generally associating him as evil has NOT been the greatest thing, especially since it reduces him to a stigma of people with personality disorders which is horrific and terrifying. idk what goes on in the background but i feel like the fandom + yeucc & the people working on regretevator should have done more research on the disorders and consulted people who do have these issues better instead of using those labels haphazardly

another thing i will and always will be vocal (dog on) about the axosun team is them keeping gnarpy. like there was no reason to keep xem in other than for revenue gain let's be honest and True to ourselves. the philosophy "ohh but you can separate the art from the artist!!!!" i feel does not really apply to this scenario cause xe got a whole ass revamp despite the obvious fact that it STILL is gnarpy, a character created by a bad person regardless of the ownership change and discredited history. its the underlying thought that they were essentially built off a bad origin if this makes any sense. idk i think it wouldve been better for everyone if xe were just removed ENTIRELY from the game but. you do you i guess

i just completed Hypnospace Outlaw

i sincerely love how much the sci-fi genre is just explaining how much sci-fi stuff would suck if it was real

the reason you play hypnospace outlaw is the aesthetic and presentation, just so were all on the same page. the reason this game got your attention is because its a passionate parody of web 1.0, and it does an excellent job of that. i can tell this game was made with a deep nostalgia for what made the past special without being blinded from its flaws (like the viruses and general difficulty to navigate).

the only problem is that im 24

well i shouldnt say thats a problem. just because i dont have nostalgia for what theyre throwing back to doesnt mean the game doesnt stand on its own. i didnt grow up with a ps1 or n64 but i still enjoy that specific form of lowpoly modeling, for example. its just unfortunate that i cant have the same hit of nostalgia that people slightly older than me can, yknow? i wish i could enjoy this game as much as them

again, the game was still very enjoyable. the puzzles start out very grounded, introducing you the the world and how it functions very effectively, before ramping it up with more abstract mechanics and compounding techniques needed to find more results. the only problem i found myself stuck on in an unfun way was figuring out how to decrypt sandwich files. its one of those puzzles that make you feel silly for not getting it earlier, but in my defence... who the hell would program something that esoteric

as an aside, i saw people discussing what genre games like this would be. by "games like this" i mean hypnospace outlaw, outer wilds, rain world, animal well, that kinda thing. i dont think applying one genre is effective, but instead its about how they combine the genres of exploration and puzzle. instead of having all the tools to solve a puzzle when youre presented with it, you have to leave and seek out the solution elsewhere. notably, if the game isnt build to accommodate/encourage this, itd be pretty unfun. these games and their open-ended design manage to skillfully mesh both genres together: the exploration is the puzzle

so yeah, i really enjoyed the game! there arent a lot of games where its just fun to explore the world as its presented, and HO does a fantastic job of that even without considering the puzzle design. i love just reading about the characters and their lives in hypnospace. this games greatest strength is just how charming it is, theres really nothing that matches it in that regard

i also found it really inspiring. i love how much personality all the characters fit into their webpages. maybe someday ill move this blog to neocities just so i can evoke something half as impact

Their body temperature depends on their climate. Sort of. Technically they all have a normal body temp, but you know how some people are always cold? In that way.

I think it’s canon actually that climates influence the general character of a personifications… although romano exists… so maybe not…. Not sure about that one.

They don’t get sick, in fact I hc they CANT get sick with normal human diseases. Their well being depends on the state of their people/the country. They get „sick” from wars, rebellions, econimic issues etc.

They can’t reproduce. Except for the times they can. Because egypt.

They exist as long as people feel connected to the idea of a „nation” or otherwise feel connected to that identity. Even if they „die”, as long as there are people who consider themselves a certain nationality, they can come back to life.

I’m partial to the idea of some of them appearing just because they were created artificially… like brčko. I will never actually talk more about her all you get is cryptic little puzzle pieces of info about her. Anyways she magically appeared when some documents were signed because funny

I’m unsure what happens when a nation is wiped out. Like when every person who was once a part of that nation either dies or stops identifying with it… maybe they get sick and die but maybe instead they turn into a human and slowly age, then die as the last person of that nationality….

They need to eat sleep etc but can go without doing any of that for longer periods of time than normal humans

They have hobbies and interests and can love humans but have no ambition or desire to live. Not even an animal like urge to live to pass something on. Because they really can’t. They exist to live and to vibe only. And despite no aspiration to live they will beg for mercy if you put a knife to their throat…. Hah… thats so weird

Despite being able to die (technically, even if not permanently) it takes them hundreds of years to understand the concept of death.

Same with aging, it makes no sense how a human deteriorates in, say, 60 years. How little that is, compared to their own age.

I’m very much aware that the rule which i think is canon based on one ep…. That pgysica age related to land mass, is stupid bullshit and generally doesn’t apply in half the cases. And therefore I’ll say to me, I just accept whatever canon physical age you want to give to a character. Whatever reason you want for it is acceptable too.

49. What will always make them laugh?

honestly at the end of the day its always each other 🥺 no matter how bad they hurt one another or fall out or drift apart, all it takes is forcing them in a room for long enough until one of them (almost always evander but possibly deia) makes the dumbest, most ill timed, inappropriate joke and the whole squad loses their minds. its the great equalizer in the trio. even matthas - who is at his core a hater and a no-fun-allowed kind of guy - ultimately WILL be forced to laugh at some mean comment evander makes about some loser magister and it will make him ANGRY bc he does not WANT to be laughing at his dumbass brother. but he WILL laugh. every time. unfortunately during datv while rebuilding their relationship i do think a lot of the jokes are all at the expense of each other but hey, what are siblings for (she says, as an only child)

individually though - evander is VERY slapstick. LOVES openly laughing at people get hurt especially if theyre figures of authority. but anyone's fair game tbh. very mortifying to deal with him in public lol. matthas has an open love for deadpan/roast humour but a secret more passionate love for puns and dad jokes. he would probably love minion memes also i fear. deia on the other hand gets theatrical. loves pranks a la sera. loves doing silly little characters and bits. she WILL commit to a bit until its dead in the ground and everyone else is uncomfortable but thankfully evander shares this same obnoxious quality albiet to a lesser extent so they can and will get stuck into a good bit of banter for hours if you let them.

essentially these three are very dangerous in a room together under the correct silliness conditions.

50. Are they a mystery, or an open book?

ok kind of went on a yap-fest for this one but the short answer is: i think they are all mysteries to themselves and to each other, while also accusing one another of being shallow and surface-level.

on the surface, evander is an arrogant, impulsive, self-centered, traitorous punk who destroyed his family and ran off, leaving them to pick up the pieces. big solas fan and it shows lol. and i think even HE would agree with that assessment and would not want to (let alone try to) dig any deeper than that to figure out why he is the way he is. but there are reasons. he was the first adopted son of the family, an elven ex-slave who actually remembers those first few childhood years under those conditions. as an elf he doesnt have matthas's privilege of going through life diplomatically and cleanly. he struggled to BE the oldest sibling that his family needed him to be because socially he could barely advocate for his own rights, let alone the rights of his family. and so that fell to matthas. who resented him for it.

and matthas on the other hand, is frequently grim, uncharismatic, obsessive and a bit of a suck-up to anyone he views (and respects) as a superior (this doesnt apply to systemic powers like the magisterium obviously, hes firmly against them). and all of these are true!!! this is OUTWARDLY the exact type of person you would ascribe him to be if you spent 5 minutes in a room with him lol. seeing the reasons why is harder. the constant anxiety of being one-big-brother-down and having to fill that vacancy by assuming the position of eldest. still being stuck in his shadow even so. losing whatever autonomy he'd had by attempting to pick up the slack and lastly (and most importantly), feeling so devoid of purpose because of having to revolve your life around Family that you pick up the first cause that makes you feel Strong and Independent - ie zealously serving the inquisition. i dont think either brothers would pick up on those reasons when arguing with one another. at least not until the events of veilguard anyway.

as for deia, the middle-child-forced-to-be-eldest (they all have three younger siblings who are not fighters and arent involved in the story lol) she's probably the most mysterious of the 3. she adopted the best qualities of both her brothers growing up - evanders passion and good humor and boldness, matthas's selflessness, his responsibility and dedication - but ultimately her personality is hard for an outsider to pin down because its hard for HERSELF to pin down. how does one begin to seperate Rook from The Rookery. engaging with her kind of feels like shes perpetually trying to make up for her OWN absence of personality. or maybe its better described as her trying to force her own personality to submit as she struggles to adjust to the roles shes been forced into. she knows evander and matthas are capable of great and terrible things, so why not be THEM instead of being the riskier and far less capable Her? it makes her into a pushover, kind to the point of complacency. someone who capitulates to the people around her to avoid conflict. none of those things she WANTS to be, but by datv shes essentially the point in which the two mirrors of her brother meet. theres too much going on to seperate the yolk from the white yknow.

Oh wow first of all THANK YOU for the ask!! It's been only couple days since I've discovered I've had them disabled all this time so I'm very happy I noticed it before you found my blog (,:

I've already complained a bit on twt that when I've started to write down ryuaki headcanons, it prompted me to make a 35+ pages google doc with meta on both of them 😅 It pushed me to write more fun drafts tho, so all is well, but it won't fit in this post for sure ahbfght

But ofc, I will share a little about Shun specifically. (TW for implied SA)

Akiyama... I have complicated feelings about him, because on the one hand, he got betrayed by his closest people, lost all the standing in society and lived as a homeless person for a long time, and that's a big trauma to have. But on the other... He's got back up by a miracle, and now he's trying to recreate the miracle for others. He assumes the role of a judge for other people while himself being too young, too flawed, having black and white morals.

(In Y4 I downright despised Akiyama when he refused a loan to an abused woman on the basis that she didn't want to apply for sex work, but in the same substory gave some cringefail guy 4 chances to complete the test just because it was amusing.)

But I've just completed Y5, and it gave me lots of food for thought.

First of all, from what I see, Shun here was written (rewritten?) as a more sympathetic character. For example, now when it's implied that he's gonna make some woman "use her body" for the loan, it means he's sending her to work on the construction site. Well, alright. I'll take the bad taste joke over previous cases.

There's also an important quest when Akiyama meets his former boss, who not only initially fired him on false accusations, which started his downfall, but also married his ex-fiancée. And Akiyama finally admits that at first, he wanted to use his position as a loan shark to be selfish and to get revenge, but got disgusted with himself after seeing some humanity and principles in the former boss.

So, here finally comes self-awareness about his actions. Interesting tidbit.

Another big part of the character building we see now: when he is alone in Osaka, without Hana around, he's a complete mess. His new office is dirty, he barely eats some instant ramen and clearly just uses the place to escape Tokyo and the responsibilities he created himself. If in Y4 we saw him within his element, managing Elise and doing loan business (with a messy table because he's just soooo quirky and lazyyy \s), then in Y5 we get to see a bit of what's inside his head. And it's not pretty.

He's clearly distancing himself - from Hana and his new yakuza friends, because they have their own lives to care about. (Tanimura too mayhaps, but this is a separate friendship that I also like to talk about a lot)

Aaand he escapes to his ugly nook to have his ugly depressive thoughts. Can't let them witness it, can he? They'd lose all the respect for him.

At the same time, he throws himself into helping Haruka with passion, because that's the thing he actually cares about, for the first time in a couple years. (He also provides her with some much-needed parenting about the importance of being selfish, because, being raised by Kiryu, she's entirely too self-sacrificing.)

And suddenly - he's lively and energetic again, he's bouncing off other characters, he risks his life for what he deems right, he's helpful, organizing, charming. He's everywhere.

(But he's also afraid to acknowledge that he's got too close to people again. So he's ready to literally die for them and Haruka's dream, but avoids calling them friends, settling for "acquaintances")

Not much needed to imagine that, after everything settles down, he falls apart again. Because in his head he's never really needed or too important for the people around. They carry on with their life and plans. Such as Eri, Arai, Yasuko. Even Hana got fed up and left at some point, and has been keeping him at an arm's length since. (Good for her, that was unhealthy)

He's not only not that interesting, his trauma is "ugly" (by his self-admission). It's not heroic and it's very mundane. There's no clear villains to blame, like with Majima's torture in Y0.

It's just - waking up is hard. Akiyama can't see the point in much of what he's doing anymore. Money is just paper for him now, they might have bought him the freedom of choice, but somehow it didn't help. Even with all the financial help to struggling people he can't buy healing for himself. Most alive he felt actually was when he lost the money briefly in Y4 - it made him work to get them back again.

Now it gets a bit tricky, hence the TW.

I think that a lot of things about him actually make sense, if while living on the streets, he had it bad enough to the point of selling himself for food. Like, I don't want to make it into torture porn or downplay the traumatic experience of homelessness overall, but something for sure ruined him and his self-perception. That's why he's bouncing between playing a self-righteous entity and hating himself.

Aside from his crippling depression from all this being shunned deep inside and not addressed, there's the attitude about sex work I've mentioned he has in Y4. He is distancing himself from the situation yet again. A little bit of a trick to calm his mind: "If I treat it like every other job, it won't feel as dehumanizing applied to myself". And also: "Well, I was not above doing that! I was not too proud to do it! Why should anyone else be?"

Now, of course he doesn't want to subject his former boss (and, by extension, Eri) to the same hardships. Even though he is, actually, a bit of a cruel person.

So here's Akiyama in Y4-5. Not super pretty and kind of greasy, but nevertheless charming, gallant and crazy smart. Fighting and dancing and singing and networking equally well. VERY annoying, because he considers himself an expert in all things he read about even once (I also hc him eidetic memory, which makes it worse). And with every year getting more secluded and miserable.

That being said, fem ryuaki has slightly different tone even in all-fem AU because of gender expectations. Akiyama's upbringing for example.

I hc his parents seeing him as this very "proper" son, encouraging his risk-taking neurodivergent activity ONLY when it helped to build onto that image. They happily bragged about their son - with prestigious business degree, good banking job and pretty fiancée. But ofc, when it's all came crashing down, they didn't want to hear about him anymore. Nowadays they acknowledge his existance with some disdain, because they care about reputation more then about him or his wealth. And he has some "disgusting jobs, no respectable friends and no wife".

(It's all kinda complicated from both sides, mb I'll get deeper into it in fanfic that I'm writing)

(And forgive me for saying this, but fem Akiyama is more interesting for me to write in this narrative, because she needed to balance fitting "proper little quiet Japanese woman" with her loud banking career, and while she was always openly feminine, she was never proper or quiet "enough". And now she's "not enough" among actual living legends.)

theyre trying to talk one lady into taking 2 weeks off because her asthma is bad and she keeps saying that shes fine because she CANT take 2weeks off because shes out of PTO and cant afford to miss half the paycheck period

they legally cant force her, but theyve been pestering the shit out of her for more than a week

that second training i did was apparently made last second for the one guy i was in training with (but a lot of the training stuff is partner work so they had me do it with him),, and the guy in charge of the trainings was like "what makes him so special that he got his own special training say instead of waiting for the next one in October?"

even though he was looking right at the guys profile and knew he literally already lived in walking distance to the school they needed an ALT for immediately AND he already had the proper visa so it MADE SENSE to start him immediately but the trainings are legally mandated by the school board, so it MADE SENSE to just give him his own training and then let me participate so i could get paid for SOMETHING while i dont have a school

and one guy was complaining to the lady in charge of apartments that his neighbors were cooking something or using cleaning supplies or something that kept setting off his allergies and he had to go to the hospital twice and shes like "idk what you want me to do about it, i cant stop your neighbors"

he asked to move to a different unit thats also the companies in the same building that's empty and she said no because they were MAYBE moving somebody in there NEXT MONTH??? like thatd be hard paperwork?? moving the new person into his unit and moving him to the empty one???

also i saw them grading somebodys demo video and the lady grading him said "how did he make it this far in the interview, he kinda sucks and we fail 90% of the people that apply anyways" and the guy next to her said "the person doing his interview has failed 82% of the 90% that fails so he needs to pass some to keep out of trouble, but YOU can fail him"

also also, they made this whole big stink about us always being in full business suits all the time, even when the principal and teachers arnt because we are not school employees, we are business employees and representing the company blah blah blah

but NO FUCKING BODY since ive been here has worn a suit once, like they arnt wearing jeans, but ive seen slacks and t shirts or dresses with fun patterns (the only patterns ALTs are allowed are pinstripes, checkers, and polkadots)

so fuckin ANNOYING

also?? this one i took personally cus it was about my friend,,, but the other day her company car died on her while she was driving (she sent me a pic, its a real clunker, full jalopy status, basically a lemon),, and today she called the English help hotline so they could help her translate with the mechanic,, and they put her on hold and were like

"isnt there a required Japanese test during interviews?? she cant do this much?? we need to make that test harder"

like???? we need to know how to say transmission in japanese to teach kindergartners the colors????????? thats why theres a fuckin HOTLINE, this is literally your JOB youre getting PAID for

maybe give her a functional car of you don't wanna deal with this, youre already taking car fees from her check, you gotta deal with the consequenced of giving her a shitty ass car

last thing, bossman called me on Friday asked me to come at 9:00 to talk about stuff, he didn't show up at all today, so he called another guy in the office to talk about the stuff with mw instead at 1:00 (that guy keeps his phone loud, it wasn't on speaker but he was standing next to me and i could hear the whole conversation) and bossman said "she seems forgetful so i was hoping she would forget about the meeting and i could put her on probation for not showing up"

so i was right in thinking they dont actually want me here, i was probably one of the people that guy hired to save his own ass,, which makes sense kinds?? cus i get the vibe bossman is always trying to catch me in a lie by rephrasing the same questions on different occasions even though i NEVER LIED,, hes trying to find something to put me on probation

Not sure if I have any inflammatory opinions of my own but I have seen a consistent fandom trend of making the girls the "responsible ones" in whatever team/duo they're in. Like making Blaze responsible when she's with Silver or making Rouge the responsible one in Team Dark. Give me your opinion on that

(ok i know this is about blaze and rouge and i will get to them but i also talk about sally here. sorry. im a one track mind)

i think some of it is an extension of canon and some is fandom making canon worse. in terms of making characters responsible, gender aside, it will always make some sense for some characters to be more responsible than the others, especially in a show about team dynamics or conflict or combat. leader characters are very normal. and if you really need a braincell character, thats fine, and it probably SHOULD be the leader. and it should make sense for their overall role and function in the story; if they suddenly become the braincell holder when it doesn't fit them, its just going to come across as forced -- and sexist, if theyre a girl, and especially if theyre the only girl on the team.

that being said, in action series like sonic, this is often caused by canon writers and character creators being afraid to put girls in combat situations.

if youre afraid of giving girls a combat role, of course you'll make her the delegator and the one who simply does things from afar. maybe you'll give her some tech prowess. anything that doesn't involve that difficult question of "can i conceivably write her winning a fight against a guy? will that anger people who think its wrong to hit girls? will i anger people who think girls cant win fights? will i anger people who think its unladylike and setting a bad example for girls? will it anger people who feel emasculated by girls in combat?" -- this is also why a lot of women are given marksman roles because it lets them be useful in combat without actually using physical strength.

this is actually why i think bunnie is a brilliant character btw because she got to be a powerhouse and no one really had to question why -- she has a robot suit, you dont have to wonder if the writers cared about any of those questions i mentioned earlier. duh she can win fights, shes part robot, next question.

this is also probably why amy is given a hammer; she's the only of the core 4 with a weapon. writers tend to give girls in combat a weapon or something to give them a leg up. and i think its often fine, but it is a pattern to take note of, and kind of gets at the heart of many writers' worries.

anyways when writers in action series are worried about writing girls and having them in combat, they tend to 1) give them weapons (or other plausible excuses for their strength and abilities, like bunnie's robot parts), or 2) remove them from the action altogether and have them lead from afar. sometimes they try to make 2 less obvious by making them occasionally capable at fighting off people in a 1-1 fight, but overall they are not the powerhouses, they're the brains.

also, for number 2, i think this is part of why so many girls became the leader in many recent series -- because it helps them meet their 'girl character' quota without automatically just making them a damsel in distress girl character. (though admittedly that still often happens, on both fronts.) -- and it also doesnt have to involve them in combat.

so its not always a case of, girls wrangling boys is inherently boring and problematic, and often complaints of this dont fully understand the greater issue. the leader always wrangles their irresponsible teammates -- but its just recently that girls have been pigeonholed into the noncombatant-leader trope. i would argue it becomes girls wrangling boys if you have a girl character who IS written as extremely physically capable and canonly has fun, but they constantly have to curtail the boys' shenanigans. to be honest, this applies pretty strongly to boom!amy imo, but in other fandoms, i see it extremely often with characters like cassie sandsmark from the original young justice comic series (no, not the TV show). stuff like that. a girl who originally has fun and enjoys shenanigans just as much as the guys, but suddenly has to wrangle them instead in a reboot because she has to be ladylike- er, sorry, a 'leader'.

if someone is forever labeled as the leader -- it makes sense for them to be strict. regardless of gender, that's their personality, and we've seen plenty of take-no-shit male leads like this that dont get called boring, or at least dont have their gender called into question. the actual 'girl wrangling boys' criticism im referring to is when they take a girl where that is NOT her personality, and suddenly it becomes her personality for no reason other than that shes a girl. to me, thats the issue.

girls are written like we're automatically the pinnacle of compassion and level headedness and we don't have fun, and instead focus on everyone's feelings. and in small doses, whatever, fine. but when that's constant and amplified by fandom spaces, when they take a girl who DOES have fun on adventures but suddenly she's just sucking the air out of the room? boring. no thank you. thats actually why i dont like boom!amy much. because amy in general was often written to be immature and to get into shenanigans while chasing after sonic. (her set of sexist writing issues could be their own separate post, but she at least was allowed to be imperfect and irresponsible, even if that was often very poorly done)

but overall i think if you solve the root of the problem it helps. just make more female combat characters. let them fight, with weapons or not, and then your series no longer falls into the 'there's only one girl and she has to wrangle all her boy friends because shes the girl and thats her job' category. suddenly it can be 'girl leader is exasperated that every single one of her teammates is dumb as shit, including the other girls on her team who are allowed to have more fun than the leader is allowed to have' -- ya feel? this is why i liked parts of archie, because both bunnie AND amy were regularly part of combat. sally being a comms delegator wasnt a big deal because, well, there were already girls in the thick of it, why would i mind that a different girl was leading things from an observation point where she could organize their strategy on the fly? thats just what a leader does in a series like this.

for blaze specifically, she can be in combat so that's helpful, and shes a princess so it makes sense for her to be responsible. her arc was also being able to have more fun with friends, so as long as she's allowed to actually do fun stuff in the future, i think that's great -- so fandom writers should be more focused on her character arc. if they write her as boring and fun-sucking, then theyre actually regressing her character.

for rouge, being a secret agent and thief is her whole ass job, she knows when to be serious and responsible bc she's an independent contractor. but she should also be able to get into her own shenanigans because shes a kleptomaniac and deserves way more heists and funny mishaps along the way (the murder of sonic the hedgehog rly delivered on this one, tbh). if they write rouge with the only braincell, they should be pretty careful, since rouge is usually causing knuckles's shenanigans in canon. or if youre a team dark fan, be careful since shadow's not really one for fun shenanigans anyways, and omega is -- well. if anyone DOESNT have the braincell its omega but i dont think rouge does more than point his ammo in the right direction if that makes sense. rouge likes the chaos but she organizes it in a way that'll favor her.
