For anyone who likes romance and spies and yearning and a short king being completely head over heels for a woman that can (and does) kick his ass, Argylle is the movie for you. Feel like the marketing team is leaving money on the table by not appealing to the romance crowd that is crying out for more genuine love stories on film and the one in this movie is actually really sweet and features an attractive couple with actual personalities.

“essek wants the gods dead” “oooh, this is going to change essek’s mind about the gods” i’m sorry but that boy is a cultural luxonite. he has no strong opinions on the gods other than ‘well, they sure empirically exist’. he might have some issues with his home faith (understatement) but he was still raised in an ancient battlefield literally scarred by the horrors of the calamity where the prime deities are a bunch of affectionately tolerated minority cults. his entire society thinks they transcended the need for Gods with Shapes and my man is not immune to the luxon-centric chauvinism of his upbringing.

sure, given another few years under ludinus’ thumb he could have probably been swayed to team deicide, but that’s not where’s he’s at. where he’s at is hanging out in rexxentrum, getting made fun of by caleb for referring to the dawnfather as ‘an influential, if over anthropomorphized solar deity’. you can take the elf out of rosohna but you can’t take rosohna out of the elf. the gods? well, fjord and caduceus are very fond of theirs (tone of someone describing their friends’ baffling but periodically lifesaving hobby). he technically works for one now through the cobalt soul and he can respect her ethos. after that he runs out of things to say about them.

now the luxon, on the other hand… he’s watching this entire directors cut triple-feature like a hawk. trying to divine the secrets of the universe from a reality show and it might just work.

What a lot of people don't understand about navigating the "real world" as a neurodivergent person is that we were told all the rules of society growing up that we naturally followed, only to find out later just how often neurotypical people are either breaking those rules or operating off completely unwritten ones to get themselves ahead and that somehow ND's are the "dumbasses" for not realizing that these unwritten rules and rule-breaking is the "norm" despite that norm going against all the rules and values that were drilled into us from birth that we were expected and predisposed to follow.

smth abt what he does for u is like so romantic and sweet to me. Like he asks u a bunch of questions abt urself and instead of using it against you, he uses it for you, to create a digital world that you will love! Like... If ur favorite food is Spaghetti, he'll make the food in the fridge spaghetti... And if u draw things during the game he puts it on the walls of the house and he has something rlly sweet and unique to say abt ur art work, he even remembers what u answer as ur favorite game and he puts it on ur computer and states he got the game for you like oh my god 💔💔💔 I want to live there with him??? I wanna be his best friend (romantic)

He even wrote a book about our friendship and a song at the end of the game for us...?? like come on dude. How am I not supposed to fall in love. He pays attention to my interests and even implements them into the game later, he cherishes the players work and everything that you do during the game leads to the final product of the little world he builds for you. He even puts mannequins of your steam friends around the house...💔 Like what do you mean everything you do up to this climax in the game is accounted on by him? Like he's actually paying attention to what I like and want???

But also it's interesting because it depends on how you see it. If you see his red flags, and you don't want to stay with him, then the song has a totally different meaning, and vibe to it. If you choose yes to wanting to stay with him, the song feels like a sweet loving song from a friend to a friend about how happy he is to be with you, but if you choose no to wanting to stay with him the song suddenly takes a much darker turn and feels like a declaration of you being trapped with him for all of eternity in his code. I find it fascinating how the same lyrics can be twisted into a whole different meaning depending on how you play the game and what choices you make. I love games like this, I love characters like this-

I think a lot about how Leo’s rescue could have easily ended in him losing a leg as the portal snaps shut on the Krang still clutching the limb, or, alternatively, only having Leo’s right arm make it out, still held dearly in his brother’s hand as the rest of Leo is left behind. (The latter hits even harder, as it directly parallels his future self in the worst of ways.)

I think a lot about how so many things could have gone wrong during the course of the movie with even a little bit of a change, but it really is harrowing how much of a coin-flip the entirety of the Prison Dimension rescue was.

Maybe this is an oddball perspective, but generally, I don’t need to know more about a celebrity than I’d expect a work acquaintance to know about me. I don’t really want to know who they’re dating. I don’t want to know who this song is about. I don’t want to know about an actor’s sex life. Like: what book are they digging right now, what did they think about this movie? Fine, that’s water cooler talk, that’s cool. I shouldn’t know a famous person’s parents by name, their darkest secrets, the intricacies of their personal relationships. Love your work! Do not know you in the least. Maybe we could just. Uh. Not.
