TAILS GIJINKA BREAKDOWN!

FINALLY!! i put together some tails gijinka/humanized stuff LOL!! see below for some goodies and an in depth (kind of indulgent) breakdown!!

[for the third image: sonic gijinka design belongs to @noka-exe !! i havent really come up with my own but i like theirs :-) ]

thisss gijinka is packed with headcanons LOL.. beware!! for starters...hes just a little guy!! i took visual inspo from markl (howls moving castle) and simon (gurrenn lagann)!! mostly simon bc i find a lot of similarities between him and tails.. short and unassuming shy boys who are also compassionate and brave!! (isn't it also awesome how simon and tails both have an older brother figure who encourages them to be brave.. 💥💥🤯 and they both have some sort of space opera and id go on but thats spoilers!!) i also went with a prosthetic leg to kind of represent his tail!! i think it could parallel to how tails' tails can act like a mobility aid, and he'd get the opportunity to tinker and repair them too!! it could also possibly correlate to how tails makes something he was picked on and bullied for, his tails, and uses it to his advantage! and again tying in his interest for mechanics and being able to customize and repair it is a concept that i find neat!! (maybe some inspo from fullmetal alchemist.. bahahaha..)

speaking of customization. i also love the idea of him covering them with stickers!! i've already added tails' own emblem on there but this has prompted me to look into adding some more!

(sorry that im singling you out again @tornado1992 LMAO i just loved your input!!) but i also love the hc that tails gets hand me downs from sonic!! for instance his gloves.. ik theyre not directly from sonic but it is such a sweet detail that tails has a rubber band around those oversized gloves to mimic sonic! and tails definitely has the means to make his own fitted gloves yet he still has those bands on in his modern models!! auhgh!! so yes.. lets say the hoodie is so oversized and oozing with swag cause it originally belonged to sonic! :-) maybe tails likes it so much that he designs the cyclone after it!! just some ideas... more depth into his clothes: i drew a lot of inspo from already existing tails-related designs!! the main outfit i draw him in is a large short-sleeve hoodie with some elements pulled from the cyclone and tails' racesuit design from sonic speed simulator! he also has his goggles and shoes from sonic riders, with some slight details added on!! see below for a better look at the outfit LOL

(the pins on his crossbody bag are a fly-type emblem, a mint, and a red star ring! theres also a sonic keychain that i keep forgetting to add/switch out with the fly type emblem LOL)

yes i did make a classic design for him!! his younger hair is more of that nice vintage orange-yellow but as he gets older itll turn amber then maybe gold? i was also thinking he dons some red clothing to reflect his admiration for sonic but later starts implementing his own style with some grays and blues!!

i'll also point out that i lean into more of a space-pilot design instead of the usual aviator pilot!! tbf i was raised on sonic x season 3 which is just a huge space opera.. 😅😅 but i still do love the aviator pilot concept!!

Finally got around to doing this, here are some rough sketches of my idea of how Lester looks each book! Some books are more different than others, like I don't think much changed between books 1 and 2, but I had fun doing this! Look under the cut for some notes about things I added for each design.

Book 1: Not much changes from how he's described in the books. All of the clothes he borrowed from Percy are a bit too big for him, but the flannel he borrowed from Will fits pretty well, only being slightly too long (I think Will has like, an inch over Lester)

Book 2: Basically the same as book 1 Lester. He keeps the flannel Will gave him, but it gets pretty beat up over the course of this book so he has to switch it out before book 3 :(. Hair is just a lil bit longer, and he gets clothes that fit a bit better. Headcanon time bc if Rick won't give me substantial Thalia and Apollo interaction I'll make it myself: Thalia gives Lester archer's gloves at the end of TDP, which he wears for the rest of the series. He didn't even think to wear gloves bc as a god he wouldn't need them, but Thalia noticed his beat up to shit hands at the Waystation and went "bestie... bestie no...." and gave him a pair.

Book 3: Will's flannel has been swapped for a big coat and Lester get his iconic pink camo pants. His hair is long enough to start getting weighed down a bit, and also way messier bc he's been in the labyrinth for like a month. The beat up sneakers he was wearing in books 1 & 2 get replaced with much more reasonable boots. Eyebrow scar shows up, a reminder from one of the many concussions this poor man has suffered. Also another HC time! Georgie gives Lester a little handkerchief that he wears for the rest of the series (I was gonna use Paolo's handkerchief, but Lester canonically gives that back so boo)

Book 4: The Lester looks like shit book /j. His hair is now long enough that he should really be doing something with it but he is not. He has a zip up hoodie now to cover up all his fun purple veins. Just more beat up in general honestly. Also I hc that Apollo actually lost some weight here (both bc he wasn't really eating well before getting to New Rome bc of stress/grief, and bc he got really sick and continued to not eat well while that was happening) But it obviously doesn't do anything to help his self-esteem or mood in this book. Kind've a visual way of being like "the superificial flaws Apollo clung to in the first book weren't the real issue, he was just hyperfixating on them to distract himself from what he was really upset about, so when the superficial issues get solved he doesn't even notice bc he's grown enough as a character to cut the bullshit and focus on what's really bothering him." or idk something like that. I like to contrast this with a hc I've mentioned before about the time between books 4 and 5, which is that the physical flaws Apollo whined about in book 1 (i.e. the acne and his weight) get "worse" throughout the road trip from California to New York, but Apollo truly just does not care that much about that shit anymore and that's why it doesn't come up in the narration.

Book 5: Final Lester! It's been over a month since the last book so I'm taking liberties and saying Lester's hair is long enough to pull up now bc I want him to be able to do that goddammit. Final outfit is borrowed from Percy again, so that's why it's so big. He also has a pendant that Lavinia gave to him bc they're besties. Also I forgot to mention it, but his shoulders are slightly broader here (and have been getting broader throughout the series) bc he's been working those muscles so much with the constant archery.

Also I didn't draw his quiver bc honestly I forgor, but I like to imagine he's been getting little pins and bobs from a lot of his friends that he's been sticking on his quiver strap. A few examples that come to mind are:

Kayla: A classic hot topic pin with a sun with sunglasses on it.

Leo: A pin made of scrap metal with the alchemical symbol for fire carved in.

Agave: Pinned a clover to Apollo's quiver for good luck. It didn't stay on there long, but it was the thought that counted.

Hazel: A piece of citrine decorated with metal cords.

Lavinia: Another classic hot topic pin, this one is heart shaped and has a picture of Hatsune Miku on it.

Jason: One of the monopoly houses he'd been using to mark the positions for the temples. A lot of the little houses had fallen off the diorama during the car crash at the beginning of TTT. The night after, Apollo asked Reyna if he could make sure the diorama was fixed. Reyna agreed, and he put it back together based on what he remembered. He spent an hour or so gluing on houses and hotels for Mars, Somnus, Fons, Salus, and on and on, until he got to the last one. A red hotel meant to show where the temple of Apollo would go. Apollo poked a little hole in it, and fastened it to his quiver with a bobby pin. It's nestled close to where the strap meets the quiver itself, so it's less likely to fly off.

Meg: Pinned a rose petal to his quiver right before he went to fight Python. It lasted for even less time than Agave's clover did, but again, it was the thought that counted.

ah you’re so kind! thank you! and in this case, yes, i do have more info & hcs to share about his disability in particular; whenever i’m drafting ideas about characters i tend to draw them out/write stuff down, so i realized when i saw this ask that i already happened to have a lot of the visual aids that would make my reply more comprehensive :]

i draw medic with chronic bilateral knee joint pain which, like many of the other mercs, he’s forced to manage while under the expectation of being able to fight a war every day for money- and because of the nature of their work involving constant, high physical demand, he’s certainly not the only one dealing with pain or other issues either caused by or made worse from exertion in (and out of) combat.

between battles/missions/outings he tries to rest his joints as much as possible, basically in a daily cycle of strain-rest-strain (a lot of these ideas are also tied pretty closely to my thoughts about the medigun and respawn and how they would work & interact with the mercs’ bodies, maybe i should make a post about that, hmmm,)

he has a few different types of canes, which he alternates between depending on the day or whether he’s misplaced one and can’t find it (why he has three of them, lol) the ones i’ve drawn are an adjustable offset handle cane and this fancy custom one with more of a fashion handle spy gave to him (one of the only instances of them having a nice interaction. in my mind they don’t like each other much on the red side) i may have also drawn him before using a derby handle custom, though i can’t remember. generally, he prefers using quad bases for their greater support + freestanding ability

a cane isn’t always supportive enough, though, since his pain is even-sided (notice him alternating hands) and it also doesn’t relieve as much weight from his joints as needed. here’s a rough chair design i made a while back + some notes on its features:

Okay, I’m at a computer again finally. I want to update and organize my rules before I do anything. It’s been a while since they’ve been changed and I really feel like I need to adjust them for my own comfort. Also, just a reminder @thylightbringer is my main Lucifer and one of my best friends. Things that reference a Lucifer in threads relate to them. We’re both silly little beans and you should definitely follow them if you don’t already. I adore B with everything I got.

They’re rather incredible writers who put great spirit and love into their muses. I haven't had the pleasure of interacting with all of them yet but I certainly watch them from afar, admiring the way that they write their muses. All of us put such depth thought love and passion into our muses and a lot of the time we don't feel like it gets seen read or cared about but that is certainly not the case. Though we might forget to leave a like or feel awkward giving a comment on something we're not a part of, everyone has carved out a wonderful spot for themselves in this silly little space.

Zowie, TJ and Luke are beautiful artists who put passion into making their muses come to life. Luke especially has poured time and effort into helping me bring Mike into reality on the wonderful art he has made for me. All three of them draw their own icons for their muses to breathe even more passion into the things they're making. The time, effort and love that has to take is beyond my small brains comprehension.

Gold I noticed draws too, I saw their wonderful art of Angel at Halloween in that kinky latex outfit which you can see on their artblog @golddraws and they are very much talented as well. I adore the way they play Angel and the absolutely amazing and hilarious Gingerbread fight that they engaged with me in. I still can't believe how long they kept that up with me without getting annoyed.

Autumn and Rory are two people I haven't gotten the chance to engage with yet but that I have carefully watched on the blog since sticking them in my pocket. Rory is very passionate about Paymon and the hcs, meta, various posts that they have made about them are absolutely brilliant to consume up. I absolutely love watching them engage with others. Autumn writes two other muses and the new bird along with Husk really are people Mike is going to scoop up and steal. Their blog aesthetics are so pretty and I adore Husk! He feels very on character from the posts I read from them. Especially with Angel, I read a lot of the Angel threads.

Charlie @chasingrainbcws is very aware of how I feel about them. Though it's been a while since we're written together (I need to throw some memes at you) they very much capture the feeling of Charlie herself from the show. I've only written with their Charlie and Emily (briefly her) but each interaction I got to do with the Princess of Hell very much felt like I could hear her voice or see her actually doing what she was in the show. I could clearly visualize our thread and I loved that. They are an amazing writer who really captures their muse well and I can't wait for the things we might get to do in the future. Either with Charlie or the other wonderful muses they write!

May @hotlhost is my newest friend who I've engaged with briefly but I loved and laughed so hard at the things we've done already. Charlie is absolutely brilliant and adorable and the interactions I've seen of them feel so spot on. Mike already very much wants to scoop his niece up and tuck her away somewhere where things won't get to her. I can't wait to see where their relationship develops when we get a real thread going!

Yata and Tordo are my friends and I will kill for them. @adflictus @solmxri are my chaotic partners in crime along with Bianca @thylightbringer. They've put up with me, listened to me ramble / cry / scream / have a breakdown more times than I can count. They've handled my for so long it should deserve some sort of metal of honor. They're all beautiful writers who have put so much time and effort into their muses (especially Tordo whose been around maybe even longer than me and created the Gabriel Yata writes), and the depth that all takes is remarkable. They all breathe such life into their muses and world and I love them. They will forever be a part of anything I create.

Unfortunately lower visual quality than I wanted be because Tumblr only allows 10 images so I smushed them into three canvases instead of two post. Anyway beta trolls Headcanon and some thoughts below the cut.

Aradia

Aradia is the design I probably have the most experience drawing of the beta trolls purely because of how many zines I’ve drawn her in the last year. I like thinking of her hair similar to Pinkie Pies’ in g4 of mlp, where it’s very curly bouncy in her alive and godtiered forms but straightens out more when she’s ghosting up the place and in Aradia-bot form. I didn’t realize until a recent zine I had been drawing her horns ways too low for comic accuracy but I am a creature of habit so I keep drawing them like that.

Tavros

I’ve grown to love this kid because of my recent reread but I do not like drawing them. Between the Mohawk and the long, straight horns, I don’t care to draw their most important traits so he unfortunately only gets drawn in these group drawings. As for the one ear being pierced, it’s kinda a reference to cow tags but also I think it just fits them.

Sollux

Sollux a pretty easy character to design. I just have to imagine a greasy nerd kid growing up too fast for him to put on weight, add his troll bits and voila. The snake bites are definitely a hold over from the humanstuck I made for him last year but I think it just kinda add to his whole vibe. The undershirt comes from someone who also sits in a hot-ass room most of my days and will wears a second layer so leaving the room won’t feel like stepping out into a frozen wasteland.

Karkat

Karkat for me has always been short and stout guy. Other than that most of his facial features are taken from me, being someone who also over exaggerates their faces and nearly always is squinting a little.

Nepeta

Between all my designs of Nepeta the only thing that ever changes with any consistency is her hair. Like giving her cleft lip scar because I gave it to my fan-descendent of her and it’s cute.

Kanaya

Like two months ago I saw a post on here saying give that girl a nose (in reference to Kanaya) and it was the single most true HC I have ever seen. I also like completely throw out any references I have of her when I draw her hair because I think she should have 1930’s waves and curls. I typically only have to draw the super simple eyes so the only thing I had to change was giving her actual eyes.

Terezi

Got pretty comic accurate but probably would erase some of the chin to imply she’s fat a little better if I wasn’t doing this more rigid style.

Vriska

Also pretty comic accurate with the exception of the snake bites which is probably because I don’t draw her a lot and I don’t think about her much enough looks wise to have any specific head canons.

Equius

Goodness his hair gave me a struggle, kept on looking like a balding metal head until I added the pushed back stuff. Also returned back to drawing pseudo animal ears by giving him horse ears only angle to better fit a humanoid head.

Gamzee

I hate their make-up but every thing else about drawing them is a dream; goat ears, not straight hair, simple horns, silly little guy. What more could I ask for.

Eridan

And I’m almost done but unfortunately this doofus is next and requires the most detailed bust even in canon. Due to drawing them in this year’s 413 countdown I know how I like styling their hair and fins so I basically just chop the hair up since this is suppose to be during comic hcs and then follow their canon and Pesterquest designs with a few added features and boom. I was drawing everyone with the dark grey lips but I forgot for Eridan so I’ll just say they use concealer on their lips.

Feferi

Yippee! Back to ignoring canon and just giving her the biggest eyes on account of her glasses and cute piercings. I originally based her fins off of lion fish fins but they’re definitely more based off of betta ventral fin now.

Headcanon idea?

So I feel it barley snows in the otogakure, and kabuto see that it’s all snowed outside so he’s basically being a big kid rn and orochimaru just hating the cold and kabs is like wanting him to enjoy it,

I genuinely think that would make so much sense :D I think Orochimaru would also just hate it because he can't retain as much heat as Kabuto can because I hc him as kinda boney but not an unhealthy amount of boney if that makes sense (⁠^⁠～⁠^⁠;⁠)⁠ゞ (maybe I'll do a hc drawing one of these days of both of them so people can get a visual of what I'm imagining) I'm answering this and I should be sleeping because I have class today technically since it's 1 AM buuuut without further ado here's how I think it'd play out:

Kabuto could be heard squealing from down the hall out of concern Orochimaru goes to check on him

Orochimaru: Kabuto dear are you alright?

Kabuto looks at Orochimaru with stars in his eyes pointing to outside

Kabuto: Lord Orochimaru look it's snowing.. it's actually snowing!!

Orochimaru: I see that's nice well I'll be going now-

Kabuto: Lord Orochimaru how can you be so dismissive it is snowing..it barely snows here this is a rare occurrence it's so beautiful

Kabuto gushes over the snow like a child and Orochimaru rolls his eyes

Orochimaru: your enthusiasm is cute really but there is hardly anything beautiful about the bitter cold love

Kabuto huffs and puffs out his cheeks

Orochimaru: now now dear it's not that serious really why don't you come back to bed and-....what are you doing?

Kabuto: I'm getting ready to go outside I wanna enjoy the snow and you should too

Kabuto walks over to to Orochimaru and before the older man could back away Kabuto is already putting a scar and gloves on him

Orochimaru: Kabuto dear I do not have time for this-

Kabuto: please lord Orochimaru just this once? this is a rare opportunity and I wanna enjoy it with you

Orochimaru can't help but admire Kabuto's excitement and his attempt at a pouty puppy dog look not wanting to ruin his mood he willingly complies with Kabuto's request and is grabbed by the hand and led outside

Once they're outside Kabuto is jumping up and down in excitement like a child on Christmas morning

Kabuto: look lord Orochimaru it's beautiful don't you see it don't you?

Kabuto hugs the taller man's arm and nuzzles against it

Orochimaru: despite it being the worst thing in the world I'll agree with you only because you're so happy about this awful weather

Kabuto: you're such a drama queen my lord anyways come on I wanna try something

What felt like hours to Orochimaru him and Kabuto spent what was less than 20 to 30 minutes attempting to build a snowman

Kabuto: eeee!!! isn't it wonderful my lord?

Orochimaru didn't have the heart to say anything negative about the crooked looking snowman

Orochimaru: it's...umm...a sight-unf

Kabuto jumped on Orochimaru and hugged him out of excitement both of them falling in the snow

Kabuto: oh thank you for doing this with me my lord I truly do appreciate it even though you could've turned me down because you're a buzz kill you agreed to it anyways thank you

Orochimaru: hey I am not-

Kabuto: my lord the comments you made earlier said otherwise

Kabuto laughed and hugged the other man tighter as he sat in his lap and then stood up

Kabuto: alright I think we can go in now how about I make some hot cocoa for the both of us you look like you need it

Kabuto reached his hand out to the man still sitting in the snow shivering like a wet dog

Orochimaru: anything to keep me warm I'm freezing

They made their way back inside and Orochimaru sighed the warm air feeling like heaven on his freezing skin

Orochimaru: as much as I love you dear I will never be doing that again

Kabuto: learn to live a little lord Orochimaru

Kabuto goes to the kitchen and makes them both hot cocoa then comes back out to the living room with two mugs noticing Orochimaru had bundled up in a big thick blanket

Kabuto: aww someone must've been cold poor thing

Orochimaru: silence Kabuto now I command you sit next to me under this blanket

Kabuto: as you wish my lord

Kabuto sits the mugs down and gets underneath the blanket with Orochimaru who then grabs the younger man by the waist and pulls him closer

Orochimaru: how are you already so warm it's not fair

Kabuto: I retain heat better than you my lord that much is very clear now here drink your hot cocoa it'll warm you up

Orochimaru: fine

Kabuto: good...thank you again my lord I appreciate you spending time with me

Kabuto cuddled against Orochimaru resting his head on his shoulder drifting off to sleep

Orochimaru: you're welcome love now you should drink your hot cocoa before it gets co- oh looks like he fell asleep must've tuckered himself out..cute

Orochimaru finished his hot cocoa set his mug down and rested his head on Kabuto's holding him close as they took a nap during the cold afternoon

Orochimaru thought as he drifted off maybe doing it again just to keep Kabuto happy isn't such a bad idea after all if it meant a moment like this between them again...

Ok idk if this one was as good if I went any longer it would've turned into a story but it's hard to not type a lot when you have so many ideas you're trying to cram into one little hc (⁠ᗒ⁠ᗩ⁠ᗕ⁠) but I hope I didn't make you wait too long Tumblr has not been giving me notifications because it hates to see me winning ಥ⁠^ಥ

I LOVE BLEAKY'S KITTY I WANNA PET IT Daily Hobie HC! Lets reverse the roles and make Hobie the loving artist. He'd adore you as his muse, not wanting anyone else except you to fill his sketchbooks. Sometimes, he'll use the excuse of that he's a 'physical touch learner' to just be able to touch you, running his thumbs over the palm of your hand in circles, listening as your breathing slows, allowing yourself to relax in his presence. Once he feels you lowering down your guard, he'll lunge forward at you, stealing a kiss from your lips with a smirk. Sometimes he'll let you settle in between his legs, your back against his chest as he rests his chin on the top of your head. His sketchbook is in your lap, pencil drawing strategic lines that slowly begin to outline you and him both, his reference being a picture taken by you of when the two of you went to a museum together for one of your dates. At times, he'll slip the pencil into your hands, burying his head into the crook of your neck and squeeze your middle affectionately, nibbling down on your shoulder as he murmurs on how he's tired now, and that you should continue to draw for him. Obviously knowing he's just teasing you, you close the sketchbook and push it away, along with the pencil and rubber (ERASER RUBBER SAME THING). Immediately as soon his sketchbook is out of reach so it doesn't get damaged, Hobie springs to life, immediately engaging in a friendly tussle. He'll always do his best to ask you if he's able to draw you in a current state, but sometimes you just look adorable messy, so he can't help himself. Hobie will always find a way to tease you with his work, whether it's sketching you out when you're half asleep, or just flustering you with compliments on how he hates how he can never capture how attractive you truly are. Every time you use him as your personal pillow whenever he's drawing always makes his heart skip a beat (or maybe like 7), since it shows how comfortable you really are with him, never mind what he's doing. If he's laying on his stomach while drawing, he'll welcome you when you lay on his back, snuggling up with him and draping your arms over his shoulders as you slowly drift off to sleep, comforted by his scent and warmth. It'd be useful if Hobie had photographic memory... hm......photographic memory..... graphic..... ....... ..........................angst. -🐦‍⬛

On another note, and sort of corresponding to Ingo’s Very Long Bath, can ingo get functionally sick? Like rusty or have a… lichen issue (almost like mold- can they break down metal?) and in turn, if this could happen could emmet become ill? 

…I’m having the amusing thought of ingo having a mild pollen allergy. Goodbye eardrums. 

I imagine that, being underwater, ingo might gain a fair bit of plant growth going on. Or perhaps serve as a home for a few Pokémon. He probably wouldn’t quite be aware of it though… (getting off topic- I’ll get back to all that) 

their whole story is like this unfortunately and I uhhmmm,,,,,,, i havent found a way to, fix that. so I'm working on that part.

I’ve recently been of the mind that love with no where to go or no outlet is something on the lines of what grief is. While Emmet and Ingo Do have a place for that to go, actually being able to share it is a little more difficult now. Neither are dead (in a way that Truly matters, anyway) I can’t help but think they still might grieve a little. For what once was, maybe. Just for that familiarity.

This feels like the. Eating chess pieces meme except with bugs and air vents. It is funny thinking about him getting like. The equivalent of asthma because he likes bugs. 

God forbid women do anything!! I want you to know I want to draw that meme so fucking badly you're SO right. At my next available opportunity I'm doing that. And yeah, it's exactly like that. If the airways are blocked up or they start setting up too many strings in his lung-equivalent then he kind of just, coughs. Not loudly but, he gets very twitchy. He can't hold perfectly still, it tickles/itches/it's stuffy. It would take way more than they're capable of producing to actually inhibit or harm him in any way, which is why he keeps letting them back in, but Emmet knows it will build up if he lets it which is why he keeps kicking them back out. Infinite cycle.

Correct, they are SO silly. Emmet does enjoy the company but he will never admit to it because at this point they're Doing A Bit and the first one to fold is the loser. This is also how Emmet eventually ends up with a shiny silcoon.

Yes!! Anything with joltik doesn't happen until after Ingo is recovered from the ocean and he heals a bit more from that whole experience, but I imagine they become quite the (beloved) nuisance to Emmet. Them feeding on electricity makes them a bit of a risk after his initial recovery, but after he gets back to a stable level then I imagine they bring both of them a lot of joy.

can ingo get functionally sick? Like rusty or have a… lichen issue [...] and in turn, if this could happen could emmet become ill? 

It would be extremely difficult to effect Ingo to the degree that would mimic physical sickness. I think there's a level where it's possible, but it's extremely unlikely. (That being said, after spending *checks notes* 300 years on the ocean floor, he has a lot of fucking things wrong with him. So yes he's very 'sick' when they get him out of the ocean initially. but OUTSIDE OF THAT it's unlikely!) However- Emmet can still get sick. It's extremely, extremely unlikely, but he can get sick like anyone else.

Emmet's health isn't directly tied to Ingo's current state- It's more like, Emmet cannot die so long as Ingo is alive. Any injuries or hypothetical illnesses that Ingo has are individual to him, and same with Emmet.

I imagine that, being underwater, ingo might gain a fair bit of plant growth going on. Or perhaps serve as a home for a few Pokémon.

Yes! In fact, he becomes a bit of an ecosystem in of himself, much like a coral shelf. Lots of pokemon and plants make him their home in the time he spends underwater- He's not aware of most of the pokemon, you're right, and the plants get cleaned off- But there is one pokemon that stays with him even after he leaves the ocean. A Dhelmise that has claimed him, and is actually with him for half or more of the time that he spends underwater. There's a boundary between the different sections of him, so parts like the main decks and halls remain essentially completely dry, but his vents lead directly from the outside to his lungs (with filters) so those get, very flooded. I don't know what types of pokemon would make him a home, but Lumineon and Finneon + Chinchou and Lanturn come to mind because they glow and it would be very dark inside his hull since the light from outside wouldn't reach. Aforementioned singular Dhelmise, but said Dhelmise is extremely territorial, so I imagine his internal ecosystem is actually quite peaceful and well-protected from major predators all things considered. I can elaborate more on that whole situation another time :> He's a giant fish bowl (Edit: Pokedex says that Lumineon and Lanturn are in fierce competition for food. I find this extremely funny)

I feel like it's definitely likely due to simply how aggressive wild pokemon are in Hisui, but at the same time most gigantamax pokemon are between 70 and 120 feet tall. Which is HUGE. I still think there would be some defensive pokemon like you're saying, but I have a feeling the large majority will be fleeing for their lives kfjsdhgsdkh

Thought-vomit below in case you want to hear my thoughts on it. It's long because i cannot for the life of me remember how much I've talked about before--

Most of the time I'm more focused on exploring the intricate, intimate feelings of their dynamic (something I just can't do justice with a couple of doodles here and there aughh).

Like--

Let's talk about the almost infantilized elements of Raz's repressed nature.

(Btw, this is not an issue to me - don't feel bad if you genuinely, or even on a meme level, refer to him as a baby. From Raz's perspective, that's how you're meant to, and in turn, that's the narrative I often draw. I draw him cute - he is cute!)

Every character, viewer included, is invited to see Raz as 'babi OwO', because that's a part of Raz's wants. When he feels threatening, he will literally make himself smaller, visually plead for you to see him that way.

Not because he is a tiny baby, but because he has learnt that doing so makes people nicer to him. He doesn't actually ever become a child. Instead he will look the part to spark care in others, and adapt a very simplistic worldview when needed. Not because he cannot grasp anything more complicated, but because it's too distressing to do so!

Like imagine how you might start thinking politics in term of simple 'bad' vs. 'good'. Not because there isn't nuance, but because it's stressful and exhausting and takes away your ability to be happy.

Sometimes Raz does that, but instead of it being politics, it's everything!

And I think it's genuinely interesting how Jeff kind of knows this and once he gets an idea of how it works, he doesn't coddle or treat Raz like a child.

In part because he's a stubborn asshole and kind of refuses to infantilize Raz beyond what is 'healthy'.

He learns to treat Raz as an adult, but obviously simplifies and helps out when Raz is overwhelmed. Example:

The rest of the times he and EJ do their best to help Raz learn how to be responsible and build healthier relationship. How to be self-sufficient.

And it's important because it's Jeff that's pushing for Slender to let him into the mansion, arguing that Raz isn't just a kid, but an adult that can take responsibility for his actions. He's pushing and arguing for Raz to be viewed the same way Jeff knows he can be, capable and responsible.

THAT IS ALL TO SAY I find it genuinely interesting and endearing how Jeff is able to connect with Raz (by being a stubborn asshole) and in turn helps Raz by holding him accountable. To see the glimpses of Ezca before they ever truly met, and how he shuts down Raz's unhealthy habits of making himself smaller, while idolizing everyone around him.

It's cool and I do think it makes their specific relationship special.

I mostly talked about Jeff's influence on Raz, but I could also talk for hours about how my version of Jeff slowly learns to be more patient and more emotional from Raz being around. (I imagine he lost a lot of his ability to be emotional ever since he entered a pact with Slenderman.)

I think their friendship is really cool and complicated and full of little intricate parts and having to label that is HARD GKDNDN

I wouldn't know if there's anything romantic in there - I've never drawn anything with that explicitly in mind?

But I draw them very close! Raz enjoys physical touch and closeness, and as they learn to work together, (especially post roadtrip together,) Jeff is kinda chill having Raz just laying/hanging/sitting around and on him.

Really the one concerned should be Raz because lord knows when Jeff last has showered and washed his clothes but i guess that's a benefit of being non-human NFKDNSJS

the top left is my memory of Sophie's level two uniform from the KotLC cover, and on the right is my own version of the level two uniform, modeled by Maruca. I thought a french braided updo made of her locs would be cute, but I still need practice drawing french braids apparently. I thought changing the shirt+skirt combo into a minidress aka just having them sewn together would streamline the design a little bit, since otherwise the shirt is tucked into pants and a skirt which would be SO bulky under the tailored waistcoat. In my version, the vest ends high enough to avoid the waistband of her pants, so the skirt pleats and the seam between the two pieces of the dress should lie flatter, because school uniform aesthetic engineering problems in a non-visual fiction medium matter, of course. I changed the neckline of the vest, and added a collar as well.

On top of all that, there's also a few world-build-y details for funzies!

First of all, we're ditching the plaid, and I swear I'm not mad even though there's a long paragraph on it, it just takes me a while to explain all my reasoning. I don't know why she's wearing plaid in the cover art because the boy's uniform has no plaid and doesn't match at all, and the books don't ever describe Foxfire students as wearing plaid, I think it was just added to make her skirt look more like a school uniform- despite said art featuring a flowy (maybe circle?) skirt that is not pleated. The book descriptions literally give a perfect way to make it read as a uniform because the skirt is canonically pleated like real uniforms are. Anyways, it makes more sense to keep the skirts plain in my version because it reads more easily as a minidress and is visually cohesive. Foxfire is also a noble school, hence the capes, and plaid has ZERO cultural importance the elves, who aren't exactly textile artisans and who tend to focus more on decking out their garments with beading than utilizing patterns to signal status.

I gave the dress a mock-turtleneck, which means the top of the shirt would be just visible with the cape on. Sophie got her shirts delivered with her uniform, but Biana later makes a point of changing into a sleeveless one, so I thought it wouldn't hurt to say they just have multiple sleeve-length versions of the uniform, though I wouldn't put it past Biana to have some shirts on hand that are more fashionable but still close enough to get away with as far as canon goes. In this sketch, Maruca is sporting an awkwardly near-elbow-length sleeve because elves are pretentious as fuck, and I thought it'd be funny.

The skirt portion of the dress is a rectangle long enough to fit the dress waistband and overlap itself with a few pleats in on one end, which is positioned in the front on the side, and the number of pleats corresponds to the number of the student's level.

In my headcanon, clothes popular among nobility tend to favor flowy silhouettes and long fabric in general, not just on their capes. For this reason, all students wear the same uniform regardless of gender, which also solves the small pet peeve I've had with the Foxfire uniforms ever since I was a kid, that the boys' uniform is just more plain than the girls' one. I also wrote that all uniform dresses are black, but I think levels 3-6 actually wear white in all the places where level 1-2s wear black in the books, and I agree that it better suits the color schemes of those levels.

The Vest/Cape:

I already mentioned the aesthetic and structural changes to the waistcoat, so I won't rehash it. The important stuff is the elf culture shit for my HC version. Students who have manifested a special ability button their vest and clasp their capes on a certain side(either left or right I haven't decided) while students who haven't manifested have the mirror image, which is kind of inspired by IRL graduates changing the side of their cap tassels, since elves view manifesting as part of growing up, and since Foxfire especially places value on abilities. Honestly, making such a big deal about it that students have to get new clothes so they look different from other kids is pretty shallow- but also pretty much exactly something elves might do. (note: The dress pleats stay put)

Whichever side of the cape is covering more of the student's chest is the side their family crest goes, so like if it's clasped on their right then the patch is on their left. The crests are patches so they can be changed out for whichever student gets that level cape the following year. Students keep the same crest each year, it just gets transferred to their new cape after they turn in their cape at the end of the year.

Any student whose parent and grandparent(s) on at least one side also attended Foxfire have a roughly 1.5 inch wide strip of silver fabric along the inside of the bottom of their cape, which is about tradition and group noble identity, because Foxfire is a pretty important symbol to noble elves, as are noble families.

the vest has a loop sewn on the inside to hook onto a home crystal chain, and a pocket accessible from the outside to store the actual crystal. Students with registered pathfinders may submit their uniform pants to have ankle pockets sewn in, and ankle pockets are included in every pair of pants sold to level sixes, but not to elite tower students because they basically are only ever supposed to stay on campus. These are literally the only pockets on the whole outfit, which is literally painful to write, but that's literally how elves are. I'm sure there's some crafty student who decided to conceal a tie-on pocket beneath their cape, probably a level seven living on elf coffee with zero fucks left to give. I'm honestly not sure if elite tower students even have uniforms, or if they all just wear gremlin pattern PJ pants under their floor length cloaks because MOOD.

And yes I did stay up way too late to draw and write all this, but its fun.

MS is what I draw because I can't pull off drawing canon Emmet. He also has some little changes and hcs so even though he's not from a proper AU, I figured I should introduce the guy I've been drawing for the past two weeks

Stelleret has already been drawn and written about for day 10, this version is post ending. Emmet ends up getting his human body and Ingo back after all is said and done but spending over half a decade as a monster kinda fucks you up so he struggles with knowing who he is and how other people see him

Burst V.2 is the version of Burst AU where Emmet gets help from Celebi. This version is from the midpoint in the story. I have other posts about this for more info, but this is basically Emmet before anything major in Hisui

Severed V.2 aka the Bad Ending, this is the version where seeing the rift + Ingo getting dismembered makes him go crazy. In an attempt to keep what is left of Ingo alive, he does some DIY transplant surgery with the help of his pokemon and a foul amount of medication. He buries his own arm in the backyard and waits for Ingo to come back so he can "return" his arm. He also has frequent auditory/visual hallucinations of Ingo. This version is from early in the story and is generally more destructive

I thought I would come up with something more interesting, but to be honest combining Overblotted boys with each other is a bit difficult to me; it’s much easier to imagine them visually, but coming up with possible interactions is more tricky, especially considering the nature of the whole overblot thing and Ortho’s phantom specifically – his whole being is way too attached to Idia (literally). Maybe I’m overthinking and overcomplicating it though, I tend to do that…

Maybe Phantom Ortho could trigger a relapse in all the previously overblotted boys. And Ortho did seem upset when Vil denied his invitation to join his and his beloved Idia’s new world…

Visually though, it would look pretty good; their designs are two of my absolute favourites :(

Some people probably don’t; we personally like it, despite usually hating on this type of trope. We are huge haters of the whole “aww they’re family” thing in general lol

But with Pomefiore it hits different somehow. Maybe it’s because the family thing is not the only thing that they have + their interactions and relationship between all three of them in general are complex and interesting, and the family trope doesn’t simplify any of it (Plus, this won’t stop us from liking Rook/Epel...) I won’t talk too much about it though, since this doesn’t exactly answer your question.

What do you think the relationship between Floyd and Chenya would be? I've seen everything from being besties who love to annoy Riddle together to enemies who're fighting over Riddle, so I'm curious about what you think!

You know, Anon, I think there is a reason why we don’t see these two interact: the Universe won’t let them, because we won’t survive this lol Both are so chaotic that you’d never guess how exactly it would go with them. Just like you said, they could annoy Riddle together and get along surprisingly well, but could also act like two boy hamsters in one cage if you know what I mean.

A lot of it depends on Floyd actually. I feel like Che’nya is pretty chill and playful all the time, and if he gets bored he just leaves. But Floyd gets annoyed and fussy… So if he likes the weird partially invisible flying dude, they would become besties. But if he doesn’t, he would be super irritated by him lol

OK YATA HEADCANONS!

Yata is often noted for his social awkwardness, tendency of being hot headed, and prodigal brilliance, which draws on his analytical way of thinking and establishes him as the encyclopedic brainiac, much like his employer. Similar to many "brainiac" types, he tends to ramble on when the conversation leads to a subject with which he is very familiar. This tendency is somewhat annoying to his peers and they often verbally shush him or respond to him with blank stares. Zenigata on the other hand finds it to be intriguing and is always willing to listen to what he has to say and they both use the info dumping as a way to pass time when driving in the cruiser. Despite his attempts at presenting himself as “professional”, Yata often ends up missing social cues at times (for example, unknowingly changing the subject of a conversation).

While he wants to learn more about Inspector Zenigata and get to know more about the “man behind the badge”, in a effort to make some sense of the inspectors behavior, Yata knows the “don’t ask, don’t tell” rule, which he doesn’t seem to mind, given that he is just as quiet about his family life and history as Zenigata is.

Yata tends to wear mismatched socks when he’s in a good mood. This characteristic was implemented by his grandmother who once told him mismatched socks bring good luck.

Yata has an eidetic memory, meaning that he can remember an exceedingly large amount of information with extraordinary detail. This, however, only definitely applies to information gathered visually (especially things he's read, as implied with the word eidetic)

He once wanted to be a fashion designer when he was very young, after accidentally flipping to a fashion show on TV and watching it out of curiosity. While he changed his idea and instead became a policeman in his later years, he does have a talent when it comes to clothes, often sewing and patching him and Zenigata’s clothes whenever Zenigata accidentally ruins them during a chase or any of his endeavors.

OK YEAH THESE ROCK I LIKE THESE firstly because it hit me the hardest i actually did entertain the idea of like a fashion industry au where like fujiko was a model, jigen was a critic, etc AND YATA WAS AN UP AND COMING DESIGNER SO THAT'S FUNNY THAT OUR BRAINS LINKED UP LIKE THAT FOR A MOMENT!

and the rest of this serves to remind me that i should probably finish my hcs on where the group sits on the spectrum because damn yata. me too. we are united in never shutting up once we get going and developing the most random habits because "i was told x once" we are BROTHERS in this aspect

It's 2:40am and I just imagined a bunch of shit about Sun and Moon in the world of fuckin Hazbin Hotel of all things, specifically to build up to the dumbass ship of DCA/Alastor. So yea here are my notes.

Sun suddenly wakes up in like an alleyway or something in hell. The sound of the city – including the anguished screams, drunk arguments, and the occasional distant gunshot or explosion – overwhelms him. Sun, dazed and confused, is probably harassed by somebody lying around in that same alleyway and quickly darts off to avoid further issue. He’s immediately horrified by the grimy and gore-stained state of the streets, and decides to just keep running. Still in shock, he notices a few posters scattered about on the ground. One’s a very worn and barely legible one drawn in what used to be a fun handmade drawing of the “Happy Hotel”. He figures based off the name and the art that it might be in a cleaner state than his current location. He finds his way to the hotel, noticing it’s new name, “Hazbin Hotel”. He wonders for a bit if they went under some kind of rebrand, and if this change means it isn’t the happy place he was hoping for, but he decides to knock anyway just to see. He’s greeted by Charlie, who welcomes him in. 

At some point, he gets a moment to sit down, and starts coming out of shock. Probably whilst talking with Charlie. He starts to break down, crying he doesn’t know where he is or how he got here. He learns he’s in hell fairly quickly, and is unsure as to why. Does that mean he has a soul? Upon being asked, he simply answers that he is not human, that he never was. Just created as a theater robot, then a daycare attendant, and suddenly he was here with no warning. Charlie takes compassion on him in his distressed state, and assures him that the hotel is safe, and he is welcome, soul or not. Based off what we see in the end of the first season of the show, Lucifer probably lives at least part time in the hotel to be part of his daughter’s life and all, so it could be this soon that Lucifer is prompted to take a look at Sun, revealing a sort of soul, not quite like the human souls or the smaller sparks of life in beings such as Razzle and Dazzle(r.i.p). Also it’s a sort of dual-soul thing going on where it’s like two cells not quite done with cytokinesis. Sun isn’t sure yet that he’s okay with people knowing about Moon, so he doesn't give that away. The exact moment is pretty flexible and I could also hc that Charlie possesses the same ability so it doesn’t really matter if Lucifer actually stays there lol.

Sun gets along with Charlie, and is given a room despite his insistence that he doesnt need to sleep. She’s all like “You still need a place to yourself to relax!” so he relents. He’s pretty amazed at having his own fully furnished room. Even in its best state, Sun and Moon’s room in the ‘plex was just storage basically. Boxes.

I also imagine that he’d clash a little with Niffty, as they both have their own ideas of how things should be done to keep an establishment in working order, and neither likes their work being interfered with. Sun is also both disturbed and disgruntled at the fact that Niffty hunts down bugs with needles, intending to stab them, rather than use anything like bug traps or poisons.

Even more, Sun’s put off by Alastor, as he literally cannot look at him with his robotic eyes without visual distortion and glitches. At some point he’s gonna ask if Alastor can make it stop and he will, but I don’t know how long that’d take.

Before long, some unexpected event occurs, and the lights go out. Until this, he’d never been in any area too dark. He’s in some room alone at this time, and someone hears odd noises or something and either checks on him or just runs into Moon. Moon is immediately ready to fuck shit up, and unable to think clearly. He causes some drama and mild property damage, but fails to seriously hurt anyone before being trapped by at least one of the powerful magic users in the building. Charlie probably summons a light source, which upon realizing Moon reacts negatively to, brightens it enough to bring Sun out. Sun is probably nearly inconsolable and at least half-expects to be thrown our or decommissioned for what just happened, and Charlie asserts she wouldn’t, immediately understanding that Sun is suffering and unable to control what happens when it's dark, and offers to help. During this conversation, Sun either intentionally or accidentally lets it slip that something is wrong with Moon, and that he isn’t supposed to be like this.

This is the latest possible moment the existence of some sort of soul-like essence in Sun and Moon can be discovered, as Charlie asks to see what’s inside them to make Moon act this way. Sun is hesitant, as it requires turning off the lights to get a good look, but is assured by those present that now that they’re not being caught off guard and already have their weapons/magic at the ready that they will be able to handle it. Sun also needs to be reminded that Charlie genuinely wants and likes to help people, and Sun is gonna be a little caught off guard by being indirectly referred to as a person. He probably hugs Charlie, and asks her to be careful. Moon is like a rabid animal, but ultimately helpless with Alastor there, keeping him in like a barrier or whatever. Charlie examines the infection on Moon’s half of the dual-soul thing, and Vaggie and Angel taunt Moon with anything that triggers more aggression to make the infection more apparent/distinct and easy to remove without collateral damage. Vaggie just points her spear more aggressively at Moon, awkwardly shouting that she’ll hurt him and other people, and Angel goes like “OoOoOh I have a gun! And drugs!” Which sets moon tf off. "And sex toys!" and Moon isn’t having it and does more rabid animatronic shit which is funny as hell tbh, and was the intended effect. Charlie starts separating the infection from Moon, causing him to screech, flail around like that slug that touched the salt in that one tiktok, and claw at his face before going still. His red eyes fade as he goes quiet, before his hands slowly twitch, and his eyes light up blue. 

Moon is free from the parasite in his head, and falls to his knees. As the magical barrier recedes, he has no idea what to feel. He also just isn't sure what’s going on because he hasn’t had much of a coherent thought of his own since arriving in hell, but he has the vaguest idea. Moon’s like “How could I ever repay you” And Charlie’s like “All you have to do here is try your best.” and I think now’s a good time for Moon to get his turn to cry into her shoulder.

Over the course of the first few weeks at the Hotel, Sun, and eventually Moon, realize they are doing things they never were built or programmed to do. They learn they can emote with their faces much more than they ever could’ve before. They can cry with tears. They can get sleepy, and sleep like human sleep. They can even eat and drink somehow.

The first few interactions with Alastor are brief, most likely, the few words they do exchange being somewhat frustrating. Alastor doesn’t have any interest in associating with Sun and Moon, mainly as an extension of the general distaste he has for modern technology, partly because Sun said some passive aggressive things about/to Niffty. But a few taunting words with a thin veil to sound like a mockery of encouraging words is totally on the table still.
