I hope that new Scooby doo show lets Velma be gay and Fred be at least a little bicurious

Who’s next???
VELMA!
Lesbian.
No literally I think that any adaptation where she’s dating a man it’s odd.
I just can’t see her with a man.
She and Shaggy have a best friend pact where if they can’t find a partner by the time they’re like 40 they’ll both get married.
She definitely had a crush on Daphne at some point (or still does in some versions). I’m versions where they don’t meet until they’re teens she misjudged Daphne and thought she was one of those spoilt and rude rich girls but once she gets to know her and becomes her friend she likes her and then develops feelings it’s a gradual thing. In versions where they met as kids the crush happens quicker because Velma knew her true side sooner.
Velma finds stereotypes absolutely ridiculous. She acts the way she likes.
She was definitely in a relationship with Marcie (Hot Dog Water) in Mystery Incorporated. Rivals to lovers stuff.
I think the whole gang are Queer tbh. Velma is a lesbian, Shaggy is gay, Daphne is Bisexual but maybe with a small preference towards men and Fred is Pansexual.
The first people she came out to was the gang. They were super supportive and I 100% believe that because Fred is a himbo he bought her a bunch of pride stuff. She thinks it’s sweet though because even if it’s a bit excessive it’s coming from a good place and it shows that he supports her.
She and Shaggy are mlm/wlm solidarity.

Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated is what Riverdale WISHES it was. Jughead wants what Shaggy has, Archie is a pale shadow of Fred "Traps" Jones is. Don't even get me started on Mayor Jones and the Creep of Crystal Cove

Netflix Live Action Scooby-Doo News
The major response I've seen to this news is "Oh no, they're going to Riverdale it" just because Greg Berlanti is producing. First off, he had no writing credit on Riverdale at all, and is not the writer behind it.
The writers and other company behind this new take don't have the best past record. Their last Netflix show was the short-lived Cowboy Bebop show. But I always like giving people a chance. Sometimes it takes a few failures for writer(s) to figure out what works for them. Just like someone can give something amazing and then have a big failure as their next project, the opposite can be true as well.
But also, I know I'm in the minority of not being the biggest fan of Mystery Incorporated but I find it a little weird people are so anti-Riverdale esque Scooby when Mystery Incorporated , which is seen as in the general sense to be the most favored beloved modern take, is basically a more kid friendly cartoon pre-Riverdale Riverdale
Gang of Teens
Ping-pong romance drama between anyone possible both in the main gang itself and recurring characters
Family secrets held that ruin long time family relationships
a serialized story that starts off pretty grounded that ends up becoming ridicously fantastical with every new mystical element added.

I desperately need to know if this is a thing but hear me out. An au where the Archie comics, sabrina the teenage witch, and scooby doo all inhabit the same universe, archie and fred will be himbos together, shaggy and jughead could be eating burgers together and likely smoke weed. Sabrina could accidentally be after the same thing as the scooby gang. just i need to read fanfictions with this premise so badly.

last night i realized there is a similarity between Riverdale and the Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated series. that similarity is both shows completely destroying their old timelines and having the characters be in a new one at the end of the show, and the characters remember the old timeline. SDMI had the whole evil entity thing going on and once the gang defeated the evil entity, the old timeline was destroyed. and in the new timeline, the town of Crystal Cove seemed to be perfect, too perfect to the gang and the town was without mysteries. nothing that happened in the old timeline happened in the new timeline, whatever happened in the old timeline was undone. but the gang remembers what happened in the old timeline. in the Riverdale series, Tabitha Tate (who is a time traveler and also an angel) explains that the old timeline became unlivable after the comet hit and she had to merge every timeline in that universe into one so that the new timeline (the one that season 7 takes place in) could be stable and the universe could be saved, and that she can’t send anyone back to the present day now that she merged all the timelines. so basically, the timeline that the first 6 seasons of Riverdale took place in was destroyed. and since Tabitha made them watch the first 6 seasons of the show, they started to remember the og timeline, though most of them (except for Betty and Jughead, who chose to remember both the good and the bad) chose to only remember the good things. anyways can’t believe these shows invented destroying timelines and creating new ones.

…in what regard
Brief but fairly significant Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated spoilers under the cut:
Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated is a a 2010 iteration of the Scooby-Doo franchise which is notable for its more adult-oriented tone and mildly incomprehensible chronology, being positioned relative to past Scooby-Doo! media in such a way that it can only possibly take place both before and after certain major events from previous seasons.
It's eventually revealed that Mystery Incorporated takes place in an alternative reality spawned by the influence of an elder god lurking on the edge of the Solar system (who is, among other things, Scooby's ancestor, thus explaining why Scooby can talk). The show's final season culminates in some wizard bullshit leading to both the elder god's defeat and a full reality reset, remaking the world in a brighter, more optimistic form and establishing that Mystery Incorporated is in fact a prequel to the franchise's original 1969 season.
Now, compare that with what's happening in the final season of Riverdale, and, uh
Hold up, is Riverdale pulling a Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated?

“Ruh Roh.”
I came across this old piece of mine that originally I did in marker and decided to update it with a digital remaster. I wanted to try and keep a balance between the original style and the sort of modern animation/comic book style that I have been trying to refine. So, how about a 2020s remake of Scooby Doo Where Are You?
I’ve been in the school of thought that if they were to do a proper animated remake of the series, that the tone of the show would hinge a little more darkly than most, kind of what the 2010 mystery incorporated show was trying to do. Though, if we can avoid a “Riverdale-y” approach, that’d probably be best.

its less that i think old kids properties shouldnt have darker, adult reboots and that they're inherently bad, and more that i think that most of them lack an understanding of why those original works were special and enjoyable in the first place and attempt to overcompensate for it by falling back onto tropes the cw popularized in order to seem more "mature"

oh man i cant believe you havent heard......
Tumblr media
this is the main post ive seen going around about it. there are a couple articles and i think maybe like 1?? interview??? about the show but there's not a lot of info on it yet. we don't have a cast, a plot summary, etc. im kinda morbidly curious tbh but so many people on the internet are mad. a lot of people are being like "oh my god its scooby doo riverdale." they keep forgetting that scooby doo riverdale already exists and it's called "scooby doo: mystery incorporated."
it might be the scooby doo live action(?) adaptation through netflix wtih the riverdale producers lol
it might be the What.
