i just think. you've got a jo who (to her perspective) seconds ago kissed dean and then died on her mom's shoulder. now, she's back and her mom is still dead and dean, the person she is closest to in this new world, is eight years older than he was last time he saw her. not quite old enough to be her dad, not young enough to be her brother or her lover... their whole dynamic is broken. he doesn't even wear a goddamn leather jacket anymore.

from dean's side of things, he's spent the last eight years feeling inescapably guilty for how jo sacrified himself for him and how the harvelles essentially died in vain. not only this, but he has since progressed hugely in how to treat women and has realised his treatment of jo was super demeaning. and he'd always thought he could never make it better but now he has a chance to and he's desparate to but it's so much harder than he imagined

and (just like with mary) it's looking into the eyes of a person you thought you knew so so well and realising you don't know them at all. jo saw dean as a flirty, rebellious hunter who she had a massive crush on, a guy epitomising the 'live on the road hunt for a living' narrative she was dreaming of achieving herself. now he's some 38 year old dude with a home he keeps meticulously clean and a whole family outside of her. dean saw jo as a younger, unskilled, attractive girl who had a huge crush on him and no stake in the hunting game. now she looks young but not in a fun way just in a sad way and has lost both parents to demons and sacrificed herself for the cause. this is without both of them addressing the fact they are very queer.

Sexuality Headcanon:

1 on the Kinsey scale. It’s never been a secret siren song for him but he isn’t going to automatically disqualify a lovely person because of their genitals either.

Gender Headcanon:

Cis male without a lot of the hang-ups that the patriarchy tries to push on people. He doesn’t have to be the tallest, he isn’t gonna pump up his muscles for an aesthetic, he doesn’t have to fight someone to prove something to himself. He isn’t gonna deny himself or try to deny someone else something just because of gender expectations. Baking a cake is for everyone.

A ship I have with said character:

All of them. I kid. I think we were robbed to not get canonical Sam/Simi. Still bitter.

A BROTP I have with said character:

Jamie. I think that once he realized that Jamie was sincere in his apology (and that the things he did were about himself and not about actual problems he had with Sam) he gave Jamie (and himself) the gift of a real second chance.

So he got to see that Jamie was truly that vain sure, but he was also sweet and loving. That he was tactile and wanted to learn what was the good kind of flipping your mate some shit (Ratatouille) versus not. And they became best friends and brothers.

A NOTP I have with said character:

Rebecca. I don’t think she took proper precautions to make sure he was protected if things went awry. So I cannot trust her with his beautiful heart.

A random headcanon:

His mother isn’t around. Either because she died, or she abandoned her family, or for some other reason. Ola is his singular parent and whatever the deal with his mom is, it’s a healed wound that only occasionally bothers him.

General Opinion over said character:

Sam Obisanya is the best of us. He has (a few) flaws only because that makes him human. He is passionate, uses his hard-won privileges to help lift others, and he cares so goddamn much. And at the end of the day, caring about those around us, is one of the most important characteristics that I think someone should have.

And the golden question, how did the crews react when they first found out there's going to be a baby around and worse, that it's going to a mini Lawlu mix? There are so many ways I can imagine that going and I need to know how it actually went xD

AAAHHH thank you so much, I'm really glad! 🥺💜 I love talking about them, these questions are making me vibrate:

1 - What does Ola usually write?

She has a preference for fantasy and sci-fi, and you're absolutely correct, it's always weird. The kind of weird where you're not sure if it's pure surrealism or if you just don't get it because you're dumb.

Law seems to get it though, he says her writing is "deeply allegorical and profound, a reflection of human nature through a distorting mirror." Whatever that's supposed to mean. He's proud.

2 - What kind of garden does Taiga keep?

Flowery garden! He grows some herbs and fruit trees too, but it's mostly flowers, vines, cacti, etc. He's very dedicated to his plants, it's a huge tragedy whenever something bad happens to one of them (which is not very often, because he's extremely careful).

He never kills the bugs though. If they are damaging the plants, he takes them somewhere else and feeds them (sometimes he ends up keeping them too).

3 - How did the crews react to lawlu having a baby?

There were mixed reactions for sure. The Heart pirates were shocked at first, and definitely a little worried, but overall just very happy for Law. All of them wanted to be "the cool uncle/auntie" and couldn't wait to spoil the baby (everyone was jealous of Bepo once Ola was born, because he was very obviously the favorite).

The Strawhats, on the other hand... they know Luffy enough to know there are things to be very worried about. Well, at least some of them were worried. Robin and Zoro were just like "omg congrats :)", Franky got "SUUUUUPER" emotional, but I can see Nami, Sanji and Usopp having some kind of "emergency meeting" about the news:

Usopp: Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for them—a litte weirded out, yes, but happy—but, guys... A human being that's half Luffy and half Trafalgar Law? I can't be the only one who thinks this is a dangerous idea. That baby is going to be terrifying.

Sanji: Oh my god, what if the baby eats as much as Luffy?! What's going to happen to me?!

Nami: Guys, calm down, this is important! Our mission is to be positive role-models for the baby once it's born. That way, we can maybe mitigate the effects of the Trafal-Luffy genes. The child can still be normal if we try hard enough.

But once Ola is born, their only concern is "protect Pirate Princess!" The child did not, in fact, turn out normal at all, but they all still love her (and Taiga!) to death.

Unfortunately going to have to come out as a fake fan because I haven't read ANY other meanstiel and even my megstiel is limited enough that I can't recommend any off hand. There's a very. Particular dynamic that I like for meanstiel. And I don't want to read bad takes on Meg because she is my blorbo and I feel this would make me unduly upset. So I haven't delved into the ao3 tags even a little bit.

I went through enough "trying to find decent throuple fics where my favourite is the least popular and there is a significant fandom shipping the other two" in the captain america fandom (where my favourite was Sam Wilson AKA the falcon and my primary interest was samsteve but people claiming to write "samstevebucky" were in fact writing stucky wearing a "sam is their therapist and has no plotlines or negative feelings and is functionally a sexy extra" trenchcoat). I've done my time in the fandom mines...

(This isn't meant to disparage or discourage people from writing meanstiel!!!!!!!!!!! Please do!! More thinking about Meg more better! I just probably personally won't read it lol)

Just dropping by to say I love 'how to believe in time travel' so much. Your description of Ruby's feelings, the blend of nervousness and desire and confusion and excitement, is so palpable, it's incredible. I love the look into the thought process that makes her go chasing after the Doctor, because companions always have to be a little insane to do that. 'Who will she be, if she lives the rest of her life not knowing?' is such a perfect little summary of why she goes, and I love it <3

It was divine, to be graced with beds for weary wings and exhausted night flights. Attention to the wool, fresh from their stems and warmed under sunlight, the duo flutter and smile with grace. Ola, the first to land upon her nesting grounds, tail curving with soft glows of light green hues - her hands of six, move in wonder, digging around in the wool, adjusting the edges and making sure every part of very much covered well so that her frame could step inside. Sinking into the bliss of softest after napping in twigs and leathery green leaves. "Oh, thank the spring." Her commentary akin to praising the lord that looked over these lands and with a yawn a big as the sun itself, did she rub upon eye, antenna and wings to ready herself for a slumber.

Popolalium stared in a moments' wariness, but the scent of the forest was quick to ease his heart. Fluttering with a subtle buzz and adjusting his toes over nest sticks and eying the cotton so fluffy in his new home for now. He hummed with a smirk growing upon the tiredness oozing from his shoulders. Gentle like his sister, he moved with ease to hope inside the nest's opening. Landing with folded knees and moving arms of four, to grab a bunch of the fresh cotton to form a bubble under his head. Not needing to adjust or make sure his wings were to be protected by all sides. As he knew, he'd not move a muscle at all when he finally curled upon his side and held himself in a fuzzy red abdomen.

alas i have not yet watched ofmd :( i know it's on bbc iplayer now so i really do need to get on it but the time has been runnning away from me. if it had come out while i was writing that diss i DEFO would've watched it and written pages on it because it sounds exactly like the kind of thing which would need to be involved. maybe if i do watch it i can do an actual uni level essay on it to develop my diss haha

and 2023 i going swell so far thank you - i'm on holiday still till the end of this week so it's been a very slow start, which has been nice. i hope school stuff isn't too stressful atm and that you're finding lots of things to enjoy! <333
