Also I love love loooove that the very first scene of book one is relos var and khaemezra in a bidding war for kihrin while he rapidly alternates back and forth between which of them is going to be less terrible for his life if they win because man if that isn’t a fantastic summary of the series as a whole.

MAN.#it instantly puts you on edge because both of these people/groups are clearly incredibly powerful and have a disturbingly strong interest in#kihrin. and they’re BUYING him they’re not interested in him as a person they want what he can give them they want to own him#and obviously khaemezra gets him and he quickly realizes she’s the better option and doesn’t actually want him as a slave but like. if rv#had won? he would have told him all the same things about her and made her the villain#idk it’s just that in the end he was a tool to BOTH OF THEM!!#they were both wrong and he was soso right to be wary of both of them and going back to that scene after i’d finished the series#after reading book two where we see how good relos var is at being rational and how he truly believes he’s saving the world#and book three where we see exactly how much khaemezra was manipulating kihrin from the start too and how far she’s willing to go#to ‘save the world’ herself… it’s insane

yesterday my parents brought home a new dog without telling me first, knowing that i’m not ready for another dog yet after the death of my last one 🙃
#i know i won’t live here forever but unfortunately im here now and its just drudging up grief seeing a different dog in the house#a week or two ago they went to look at dogs without telling me and i told them i was upset about that#because they knew i didn’t want a dog yet#and they were like ‘sorry we thought you meant you didn’t want one at all so there was no point in telling you (??)’#‘we’ll have to talk about it’#there was no talking 🙃#i would’ve considered it even tho i didn’t feel ready if i was at least talked to first! and got to meet him at the shelter#instead of in my home!#literally two nights before they went to the shelter the first time i had a nightmare they brought a dog home without telling me#and then the night before they actually did i had that nightmare again#and thought ‘that’s a ridiculous dream obviously they wouldn’t do that without talking to me’#lol.#they said i ‘move too slow’#sorry i’ll grieve faster next time i guess!#i wouldn’t have done that to them if roles were reversed…#he’s technically here on a three night test period first but let’s be real they’re not gonna send him back to the shelter#and i’d be the villain if i suggested it#i don’t have the heart to send a dog back to the shelter but i feel like i was manipulated into this

people on tiktok well on all social media sites actually will loudly critique the fact some people (especially those who only watched the movies) “didn’t get the point of the hunger games” and then turn around and say gale is the worst person in the universe and treat him like he’s a monster, and that all these traits are innate characteristics completely isolated from the circumstances in which he lived and the people around him. like girlie i think maybe YOU didn’t get the point here either.

I can only actually hate main characters bc when villains do something wrong they’re just kind of fulfilling their narrative purpose and moving the plot along, but when a MAIN CHARACTER does something annoying and then the narrative insists they’re in the right I’m like oh great I’m stuck with this motherfucker for the rest of the series.

rewatching the ones who live got me thinking about what kind of people the obx crew would be in the apocalypse
#john b is obviously the easygoing type that is hardened by the apocalypse but still believes in the inherent goodness of people#pope is the brains of the operation that is either ignored or is listened to but someone (jj) goes off script and fucks shit up#he also feels every loss like it’s his fault (it’s not)#jj is the wisecracker with a short temper that makes rash decisions and often gets them in trouble and is filled with self loathing#kiara comes off as cold and judgmental but it’s only because she refuses to have anyone she loves die on her watch and has adapted fast#sarah is a bleeding heart to her core. no matter how broken down she’s been (a lot) she still wants to trust people (like john b) but she’s#cleo is the second fastest at adapting to this new life. the fighter of the group both from her previous life and in this one#her addition to the group is what takes them from surviving to living (iykyk)#she helps pope’s plans become a reality with her stealthiness and leadership (she runs that team like the navy)/reminds pope he can relax#rafe is the exact same person he was before which is a good and bad thing#yeah killing isn’t his favorite thing in the world but now he has no choice right?#he gets to decide what’s right or wrong which is a huge plus (same for jj)#barry does so well in this world you would think he was a doomsday prepper#he’s the lone wolf type. won’t find him in a group because they’ll “only slow him down’’#yes rafe is there but they’re not together he’s just entertainment/a shield/a decoy#ward’s money doesn’t mean shit in this world so he relies on his cunning nature#definitely the overarching villain of the show whose impact can be felt even after his exit (rafe and sarah)#thinking thoughts💭

#icarus speaks#dangantag#like i’m always thinking about him in general#but chapter four SPECIFICALLY#like GOD…….#he knows if he doesn’t do something he’ll die#he knows if he doesn’t do something everyone will die#because shuichi is smart. but miu was smarter. there was no way to have uncovered ANY of that had she succeeded#and he knows he can’t stop her. she wants out. she won’t listen to him#if she’s not able to kill him. she’ll find someone else. she’ll find another scenario#and he can’t TELL most of them. because someone has to stop her#but half the cast wants him dead. maki would’ve taken him out herself#the only other person that would’ve both believed and helped him would likely be shuichi#but it can’t be shuichi. because this ends with two people dead. and if shuichi dies then they’re all fucked#he could make the same leaps as shuichi theoretically. solve the same cases#but no one would listen. not like they listen to shuichi#and GOD. speaking of which#the way he reacts to shuichi’s lie. it haunts me so much#and it makes sense! he’s already so angry. so lost. there’s so much going on and going wrong#shuichi lies to protect people and discover the truth and he’s beloved#kokichi does the same and he’s a villain#and YEAH obviously that’s not the full story. there are other factors.#but like. the THEMES. the PAIN. the spiral it leads kokichi down#doubling down on his lies and charade and cements his plan to sacrifice himself#slash become the ‘mastermind’#i hate lying purple assholes why do they do this to my brain
