something so fucked up about Chat Noir’s whole deal is that he is in a lot of ways Adrien playing a character. Like Adrien picked up his miraculous and was told he’d be a superhero so he was like “ok, time to act like a superhero!” and he lets himself have fun w it and play up the role and let loose and kind of just allow himself to be silly and goofy and have fun and for once in his life not care about performing Perfection™.

But. But none of the other characters KNOW THAT. So everyone just sees Chat Noir and is like “look at this guy’s ego. He’s so full of himself. Surely it’d be fair to knock him down a few pegs” without being aware of how few pegs he actually HAS. He’s like the “insecure character who overcompensates in ego” trope except he’s really not doing it unironically, he’s just having a fun LARP pretending to have self worth in his off-hours but nobody else is on the same page about it being a game and he refuses to tell them. He just dramatically pouts about it and lets them laugh and pretends like he’s not internalizing it and it is almost 3 am and my brain forced me to write this instead of sleeping I’m gonna take a melatonin

I think its absolutely hilarious that Dean and Castiel go through inhuman amounts of trauma over the course of a decade plus, and somehow they still arent the human x angel ship on the show that has gone through the most detrimental mind bending shit. Just over here thinking about -

1) KB quietly getting fed up about being expected to push and explain why she doesn't want to do certain things and that she needs time for maintenance, instead of people just listening to her the first time.

2) KB needing to know how to fix herself, and needing to know how to explain to others how to fix her when she physically can't do it herself.

3) KB being so worried that pointing out her needs and her differences will lead to her being ostracized, even by her friends.

4) Wim actually doing what KB directs him to do instead of wasting time with things like "Have you ever thought of doing this instead?" I know Wim didn't have the faintest idea what to do in the first place so of course he'd follow her instructions... But the point still stands.

Interesting to note that the Lan rule states "Lying is forbidden" (more or less) but not "Be honest always" because the rest of the rules already make it impossible. Actually every Lan is technically lying all the time.

It is forbidden to show excessive emotion, to be rude to others, to let yourself get carried away by hedonism, to make noise... but those rules get overenforced so much that Lan Zhan the "perfect" Lan is regarded as an unfeeling human statue.

And the Lan disciples are not statues, they're humans who feel, who love, hate, envy, grieve, get excited, get disappointed and make mistakes. Yet the rules pretty much prevent them from ever expressing their opinions or emotions freely.

So every Lan is lying by omission most of the time, because they can never say what they truly think.

And I honestly believe that Lan An would be thumping his head into the nearest wall if he saw how his principles have been added to, twisted and reshaped into the self-contradictory and opressing mess that governs the sect.

Which just now ocurred to me would make a nice parallel with another ascetic dude who got their teachings twisted and fanoned as a tool for opression.

How come the media could have endless coverage about every time Biden made a gaffe or slurred his speech but there's not the same furor and energy around covering the fact that Donald Trump literally openly admitted that he wants to abolish voting?! (X) (X)

I'm thinking about the contrast between the two times Hee-joo was in hospital.

The first time, as a child. She wakes up, and her mother is devastated-because she woke up. The mum acts like it's the worst thing in the world that her own daughter survives, and then threatens her into being silent?? And tells her that her life isn't worth nearly as much as other people's?

Then this second time. She wakes up to see Sa-eon watching over her, looking worried. He's devastated, because he had been actually worried about her!! And when she wakes up, he's relieved! He shows concern, he's so tender towards her. It's pretty damn clear that to him, her life is worth a LOT.

Just. The contrast of that. The absolute contrast. I don't have a neat conclusion or anything to this, but I just want to put that out there.
