Not that anon who sent you the ask about Jotavdol before but my favorite 'fanwork' of them comes from the OVA character designer himself Junichi Hayama. A lot of people repost his art of Avdol lighting Jotaro's cigarette for him, but not a lot of people include his little dialogue exchange to go along with it.

That last illustration of Ogata with the flowers, for the lack of words, hit different. It was the first thing that popped up when I opened tumblr and my heart skipped a beat. I was stuck standing there in the nursing station staring at him, all emotional. (Thankful my fellow PACU nurses love anime and already know about Ogata, and they’re all for it)

I love admiring flowers as I walk down a street. Even if I see one tiny pretty flower, i would stop and admire it. Id always say, ooooh flowers and rub the petal to feel the soft sensation. It’s cheesy but I can’t help it.

The image of Ogata holding the wildflower in his hand really struck a cord in my heart. It’s exactly how I would imagine him in this situation, handing me the flower. The expression is giving, “I thought about you” but in a reserved manner. It’s Ogata’s way of being bashful in his own self-restrained way. He probably saw me admiring flowers during our travels. And being more for acts rather than words. He silently picks a flower to give to me. Excuse me as I go cry a bit.

Hawks is the 264 Narrator

Just combining all the the things my anons, and Khattikeri and Shoutosm told me in an easy to read format, and giving some thoughts. The last few panels of the chapter, with text over Dabi, are in fact Hawks’s inner thoughts and not Dabi’s.

Basically, the text is translatable to “Twice, you’re not a bad person. The bad guys are the scumbag heroes.”

A strange thing for Hawks to think, right? 

The reasons he says notwithstanding, why there’s a reason he said that and not Dabi:

1. Dabi’s negative verbs are not “Nai”, but “Nee”.

The words nee ねぇ or nee ねー are colloquial variants of nai ない. That is: nai pronounced wrong. These colloquialisms are often used by more gang-looking characters. Certainly not what the more fine characters would use. x 

Dabi has used ‘nee’ apparently in the past, and Nai is seen as more ‘polite’.

2. Hawks is more likely to use omae as a you pronoun than Dabi, who would go with the less respectful ‘temee’ or ‘kisama’ you hear so often in anime. At the same time, he used ‘Anata’ to Twice directly, so we don’t know for certain that either of them would use Omae. So this is a shaky point. 

3. While the phrasing is similar, the word ‘trash’ (scum) is different to the word Dabi used many chapters ago. Dabi uses the word trash often, but it apparently always ‘ゴミ’ (gomi) and not the 'クズ (kuzu) shown in this monologue. The anons explained the difference as gomi just being trash, while kuzu is more like the ‘waste made from something’. Dabi’s word choice is finite; the subject has always been trash, there’s never been any worth.

However, because I wanted to explore that difference, I googled the romaji and looked up Gomi and Kuzu, which reiterated that difference, but also provided something about the word used here: 

• (kuzu) (historical hiragana くづ)

Apparently kuzu is often use in a phrase that translates to ‘dregs of society’. 

It’s fascinating the speaker uses this on Heroes, seen as the pinnacle of society. It’s Twice’s ‘bad luck’, as Hawks calls it, that has turned him into a villain. Hawks gives us probably one of the first glimpses of rehabilitation in BNHA - I can’t recall any other heroes talk about rehabilitating villains in this manga. And yet, if this is his inner thoughts, seeing Twice refuse to comply and give his life for the League no matter how much Keigo says he doesn’t want to fight him, it’s such a false... offer.

Because people like Twice, in the society Keigo wants to rehabilitate him to, are the kuzu of society. And yet the mystery narrator says, right after Hawks tells Twice he is a good person - that Twice isn’t a bad person, but it’s heroes who are the ‘dregs’.

I don’t think this is Dabi. I think this is Hawks having an internal war with himself. 

Jin clearly says, “And you’re a hero?” to him - and Hawks has to reconcile that he is the ‘scum’ here because he believes Jin isn’t.

Keigo’s facial expression begin to slip into grief as he leaves the shadows. The shadows obscure his facial expression, but as we see start to see flashbacks of his relationship with Jin, his face is revealed to us. It’s light again. His face right before we see Dabi walking? Colored in grey. He’s conflicted - and that’s why his inner thoughts are contrasting with what he’s doing.

Hii! I saw theories about Hanako using Yashiro in the beginning, actually tricking her to swallow the mermaid scales on purpose, to whatever reason he wants to destroy the yorishiros. I thought, okay, it's possible, but recently saw that in the official translation of Vol. 11, No. 4 says that No. 7 must have taken a liking to Yashiro, meaning that not neccesarily he did in the beginning - differently from the unofficial, where No.4 says that Hanako seemed to care about Yashiro greatly. Thoughts?

In the scene where No. 4 talks to Nene, the original japanese reads: あの人に随分気に入られたみたいですねぇ (Ano hito ni zuibun kiniira reta mitaidesu nē) - which, if I’m reading it right (I might totally be wrong) could mean anything from, “it looks like you are very dear to him,” to “it seems like he likes you very much,” or even “he seems to care about you a lot.” I don’t think it implies an evolving timeline like the official translation suggests. 

That said, we as readers can tell through contextual clues that he indeed did grow to care for Nene more and more as the series progressed (against his rational judgement too).

As for the theory of Hanako planning on using Nene in the beginning, it has crossed my mind once or twice, and there are some scenes that may suggest this is the case, but I don’t necessarily subscribe to this theory.

In the original manga, Undertaker says that Sebas came up with interesting/funny [strategies] in order to defeat him, after Sebastian attempted a distraction manoeuvre by throwing a large number of tables.

In Japanese, the word ‘omoshiroi’ is about as ambiguous as its English equivalent ‘interesting’. When somebody says something or someone is ‘interesting’, it is often ambiguous as to whether it is a truthful compliment, or an euphemism for something that is weird, or even ridiculous. Q: “How do you like my pie?” A: “… Erm, it tastes interesting.”

In the context of their brawl, it is most probable that Undertaker meant it in the sense of: “throwing tables at me even though you know my Death Scythe can slice them like biscuits? How ‘interesting/funny’ that you thought that could take me down.”

I would say that here Undertaker is being very condescending; it is some splendid macho'ing flying around. While ridiculing Sebastian, Undertaker warns the demon against underestimating him any further. Barely a second after he has spoken the words, Undertaker already seizes his hostage, and drives Sebas into a dangerous position. “You thought you were interesting? I will show you what real interesting is.”

You are of course right, Anon, I did not get the feeling Sebas was actively strategising until that point either.But it makes sense considering how he is indeed muscle brain, and like I explained in this post, it is only reasonable that he is because he could afford to not strategise, until he ran into an opponent of Undertaker’s calibre.

Likewise explained in this post, Sebas has now learned that brute force won’t work on Undertaker. Instead of Muscle Brain™, he will have to become Muscular Strategy Brain™, and fast! Sebas might need some time to come up with a really good strategy, but Undertaker is probably aware of this; it is hard to believe that if Undertaker has any say in the matter, he would help his opponent defeat himself by giving someone with such brute strength more time.

I don’t know how Sebas intends to apply his strategies in future, but I am excited to see how Undertaker could be neutralised. I have high hopes for the showdown being highly satisfying. I trust that in the future if Undertaker would repeat the compliment “you come up with such interesting things”, then it would be truly meant.
