Rei-Rei right where his body laid the boy's eyes shut tightly with tears dripping down towards his face with blood gushed from his mouth. The half breed is severely injured from the sharded attack he fought hard but the sharded are unlike anything he has ever faced. They were able to fight against him and almost killed him. Thankfully the boy was saved by his friend the makai dragon burning the sharded into ashes.

Koaru stands before him as he sat down on the ground placing his body onto his lap all the while the dragon strokes his hair, smiling knowing that Rei still lives and also that the man will be the one taking care of him and his injuries.

Koaru softly chuckles as the man's eyes had turned red as fire and blood, the aura now around him is revealing that Koaru is all he had seemed. The man's body changed into a more elegant design now the man looked ancient chinese in appearance just as his clothes and hair style from a pale white as the snow falling down from the sky to a pitch black as night. Koaru is not Koaru at all and that name is only an alias he had gave to himself. Not only that he had lied to Rei and his allies that he is Koaru but the dragon had seem to know more about not just him but also his entire family.

Koaru or whoever he is with Rei's head on his lap placed around his face and stopped smiling. Despite everything. He truly cared for Rei, he loved him more than just his nest friend, or his brother bound by their oath.

Right after speaking his peace he continue to comfort his ally closely showering Rei with such affection as he moves his head closer towards his.

The makai dragon soon after he comforts him in his time of need he carefully picked his body up and carried him in his arms to wander into the wasteland that is metro city the two have to find shelter so the boy Rei could heal in peace or die trying.

It wouldn't be the first time that D was mistaken for a vampire. He's a man shrouded in mystery, working in an equally strange shop that, if people were more observant, should not be so large inside compared to others in the area. For a building not much larger than a house, the back of the pet shop spreads out like a labyrinth, corridors of twisting passages leading this way and that to ornate doors perfumed by the aroma of sweet incense. Of course, he couldn't actually be a vampire... could he? D adores sweets, his sweet tooth rivalled only by that of small children and above all, the man is a vegetarian. It is strange, however, that his face has appeared in very old photographs long after the people pictured have passed on. It's his grandfather, he swears, and truthfully the two do look alike, the same as with D's father. Still, the allegations he's a vampire isn't helped with the one time he struck back at Officer Orcet. D has sworn that no animal flesh nor blood would ever touch his lips but humans aren't included in that catagory...

the brief mention that 1.3 leonard could still be feeling some deep lingering grief over his brothers' deaths still never fails to fascinate me tbh like, does he think of the standards he must have lost since their passing and feel guilt? or does he see them in every child he abuses??? does he keep his grief to himself or does he find it a useful anecdote to what must be a countless number of families dealing with loss??? does the green dragon know? does he confide in it????? since leonard seems to be aware of what arioch lost to the union, just how aware is/was she in what HE lost???????? did they have a role in each other's loss? is THAT where their beef came from??????? im going to merge into a wall

My biggest takeaway after reading Fire & Blood revolves around the constant goalpost moving revolving around a woman's right and what they are allowed to be in a society. House of the Dragon starts at the events right before the Dance of the Dragons, but really it was a powder keg that existed since Aegon the Conqueror's time and each new succession just added more fuel.

So the Targaryen history starts with Aegon and his sister-wives conquer Westeros and Aegon's crowning as king becomes the year 1 AC(after conquest).

In 37 AC, Aegon dies leaving behind two sons:

Aenys: Aegon's older son through his younger wife

Maegor: aegon's younger son through his older wife

It's ultimately decided that Aenys will succeed Aegon. So the precedent set is "Succession goes to the eldest child and their heirs followed by the second eldest and their heirs, etc"

In 42 AC, Aenys dies leaving behind 5 children:

Rhaena: his eldest, a daughter

Aegon: his eldest son, married to Rhaena

Viserys

Jaehaerys

Alysanne

Before Aenys's successor can be decided, Maegor usurps the throne but dies in 48 AC without an heir. But during his rule, he killed Aegon and Viserys.

When discussions about Aenys's successor are finally able to begin Rhaena is suggested due to being the eldest child but she ultimately declines and lets Jaehaerys take the crown. So now this precedent suddenly changes the rule of succession to "Succession first goes to the eldest son and his heirs, then the second son and his heirs, etc, then the eldest daughter and her heirs, then the second daughter and her heirs, etc. "

Jaehaerys's two eldest children who survived to adulthood were Aemon and Baelon. Aemon, being the eldest was Jaehaerys's heir but in 92 AC, he died in battle leaving behind a daughter Rhaenys. Jaehaerys decided to declare Baelon his heir at that point only for him to die in 101 AC from what I would assume is appendicitis. Baelon left behind two sons, Viserys and Daemon.

In 103 AC, Jaehaerys dies and Rhaenys and Viserys were the primary candidates for succession. When Rhaenys pointed out by rite she has the greater claim due to being the first heir of the king's eldest son and she has a son of her own, the council (who were all men I should mention) rewrote the rules during the council. Now the rite of succession was "Succession first goes to the eldest son and his heirs who have an unbroken male ancestry, then the second son and his heirs who have an unbroken male ancestry, etc, then the eldest daughter and her heirs, then the second daughter and her heirs, etc."

So Viserys becomes king. The only child he has through his first marriage is his daughter Rhaenyra. He decides to publicly and frequently declare her his heir and keeps insisting she is even after he has sons through his second marriage. To his dying breath, he said Rhaenyra was to succeed him.

After his death in 129 AC, his second wife, Alicent Hightower, stages a coup to place her eldest son Aegon on the throne, beginning the Dance of the Dragons.

At one point, Rhaenyra manages to take King's Landing and assumes her rule as queen. Her time ruling was so disastrous due to the war causing food shortages and due to her own poor mismanagement that she was chased out of King's Landing by an angry mob 6 months into her reign.

And now, the old men who never wanted a woman to rule could use her as a scapegoat to justify why women shouldn't. "We let Rhaenyra rule and look how bad that turned out. Women shouldn't be allowed to rule."

It's worth noting that it's impossible to know if she would have been a good ruler or not under normal circumstances. Maybe if she had gotten the crown with no fuss, she would have been a great ruler. Instead, the Rhaenyra who took the throne was the one who had to fight for what she and everyone had been told was hers. This Rhaenyra was the one who lost three sons during the war, one of whom was murdered while acting as a diplomatic envoy. This Rhaenyra had been betrayed by her brothers and many of the lords who had sworn fealty.

So yeah, the unjust will always try to move the goalpost and will use the flimsiest excuses to justify themselves.

@meraxest sent: you mentioned giving Satin a HoTd verse: consider this a request to talk about it! where does he fit in? whose side is he on? what makes him stand out during the war, or does he play a more subdued role, like that of the smallfolk? how does he feel about dragons and the Targaryens?

Satin HOTD verse

Where Satin fits in is rather fluid depending on the partner. I am working on a starter for Jace where Satin is going to be Team Black, but for the most part he is going to be Team Green. Satin is originally from Old Town, a noble bastard born and raised in a brothel. He comes to King's Landing to work in the Gilded Doe, but this does not mean that he is a fully subdued role.

The main default for this verse is with @lvscinvs's Aemond. Satin is a dear companion to their Aemond and as such he is one of the few people who has control over the prince, especially as the war drags on. While he often will fuel Aemond's blood thirst, even encourage it, he also knows when it is best to stay one's hand. During the Regency he warns Aemond to make a point of showing that the Red Keep is struggling as well, and that any meat goes to feeding the dragons. He knows how powerful a mob can be.

In the other side of the verse with @worthyheir he serves as another voice for Team Black to use in King's Landing, setting up for the eventual taking of the city.

All in all, Satin fits into HOTD where my writing partners need him to, be it giving affection and love to Aemond or giving support to Jace.

As for Satin's feelings in regards to Targaryens and Dragons: Satin is fascinated by them. People who have any control over such powerful creatures are otherworldly to him, he does not see them as gods, but he does see them as the closest to the gods that a human can be. The dragons... Satin does not see them as beasts, he knows there is an intelligence there, one that can not hope to understand. This is helped by the fact that he was able to read Septon Barth's Dragons, Wyrms, and Wyverns: Their Unnatural History due to a client at the Citadel.

In the verse where Nadia and Em have Jace as King with Aemond as Hand there is also potential for a thruple

Its thematically so so delicious that Rhaenyra and Aegon both have Golden Dragons [which is also the largest denomination of Westerosi currency] and honestly i would LOVE to see a Rhaenyra on Syrax V Aegon on Sunfyre battle like that would be So Tasty.....

A concept:

Dan Heng regaining all of his memories and realizing that Bailu is his kid. Him picking up the little dragon doctor and smuggling her out of the Luofu, showing up on Blade's doorstep like, "That's our daughter. Take responsibility."

Meanwhile Bailu is just kind of hanging in there, no idea what's happening but thrilled she slipped away from the Preceptors and gets to explore the universe.
