I think I'm just about done with my impromptu blog clean-up! I'm still sorting some tagging systems out, but I've got the fandom and personal stuff squared away at the very least, which was where I really wanted a little refresh.

For those who are also organizational enthusiasts, these are a few of the tools and methods I used to make it a little easier to sort through over 25,000 posts accumulated over about 8 years. One major caveat is that most of these have to be used on a PC browser.

Tumblr Tools

Your Tumblr Mass Post Editor This is Tumblr's native mass post editor; the link is on the right-hand sidebar on your blog page (right under settings). It's very limited without any extensions, but you can do some batch actions like deleting a ton of posts or changing tags.

Your Tumblr Blog Archive This looks very similar to the post editor, but you can actually narrow down the posts by tag, which is super helpful. You can access this by going to your blog.tumblr.com/archive (e.g. fereldanwench.tumblr.com) but you must have custom themes enabled to view it (you can find that under your blog settings).

Tumblr Secret URLs Okay, they're not that secret, but they aren't readily accessible anywhere either and you have to manually enter them. There's a list here with the most helpful ones.

External Tools

Tumblr Tag List Generator This web tool will let you generate a list of the tags it can find on your blog. It's not 100% accurate--The "tags to exclude" option never seems to work for me, and it does miss stuff--But I love using this to find posts with random tags or tagged with a typo.

Tag Replacer There are a few different tag-replacing tools out there, but I like this one a lot because it'll let you play with different combinations of tags to delete, replace, or amend. For instance, I wanted to separate my community OC tags from just "other's ocs" and organize them by fandom: with this tool, I was able to search for posts that had both "g: cyberpunk 2077" and "other's ocs" and then I could replace those tags with "g: cyberpunk 2077" and "ocs: cyberpunk 2077" without replacing all the posts that also had "other's ocs."

Xkit Rewritten & New Xkit Browser Extensions These are increasingly less reliable without regular updates, and you can't even get New Xkit on some browsers right now because it's been flagged as a security risk (so obviously, use it with caution). Xkit Rewritten has a mass private tool for posts, and New Xkit adds a tag search in the native mass post editor--It's pretty glitchy and limited, but it helps.

And I'm just gonna drop some deets under the cut about my housekeeping because it's interesting to me:

I made this blog in March 2016; it was my 3rd or 4th account remake since first joining Tumblr in 2010.

(Tangent: 2 of my remakes in 2013 and 2015 were actually because I didn't like having as many followers as I had, lmao. This account has well surpassed those numbers, but Tumblr doesn't have as many active users as it used to, so it doesn't feel as daunting.)

I did not record the exact number of posts I had before I started purging, but it was around 25,000.

It's now down to 16,947!

Most of the stuff I deleted were TV and movie gifsets and non-fandom artwork, but I also purged a lot of fandom posts that no longer sparked joy. I did get a little overwhelmed for some months because there were so many posts and I know I probably removed stuff I would have preferred to keep.

Although seeing some stuff brought on Bad Feels, I also got a huge surge of inspiration diving through my archive, which is great, because that's exactly what I want out of my space.

Cyberpunk OCs absolutely dominated my OC tag--I ended with about 2700 posts for other folks' CP77 OCs. Dragon Age was next with about 800 posts.

One thing I would like to be more conscious of is minimizing reblogging art from "curator" blogs and finding more artists who are actively posting on Tumblr to support. I don't mind the curation blogs as long as they're sourcing the artist, but I'd just rather give love to the folks who are actually here.

My quietest year was 2019, likely due to a combination of a lot of people leaving after the great tiddy purge and getting more into Twitch and by extension Twitter.

April 2019 was my quietest month, which had 3 posts!!!! 3 posts!!! I post like 4x that amount in a day, lmao.

The Outer Worlds coming out at the end of 2019 brought me out of my semi-hiatus.

Not sure exactly what was my most active year/month, but I'd guess either 2022 or 2023. I do vaguely remember going from about 8000 posts in the middle of 2021 to feeling like that practically doubled by 2022. Cyberpunk really got me using this space again (to the point of my own mental and emotional detriment in some cases, but I got better, lmao).

Okay, so I hope I don't come off as really confrontational and I'm sorry if it does. I've started to notice an increasing number of posts on your blog that seem to be critical of things trans women do on an intra-community level. I wasn't going to say anything before, but someone you reblogged mentioned that they were starting to keep an archive of what they called "Trans radfem behavior" and that concerned me a bit.

I have -- for years -- been extremely critical of cop behavior within the community or divisive behavior within the community. I have been critical of fellow lesbians when they have gone after aces and bi people. I have been critical of fellow transmascs when they say shitty things. My most quoted, most reblogged, most 'taken and posted on other sites', most linked on Reddit (fucking apparently) post is one about divisiveness and respectability politics within the community, how those things fail us and set us up to be split up and devoured by the cishets, and a call for radical inclusiveness within the community as the only way forward.

This isn't new. I've always been like this.

I have also always been critical of the idea that identity is a shield for shitty behavior. Whether that's disabled people acting like they can't be ableist, queer people acting like they can't say homophobic shit, Jews who think they can't act in an antisemitic way, or trans people acting transphobic or saying transphobic things, this is not a new concept for me, nor one I'll move away from. It is an unfortunate thing that disabled ableists and trans radfems exist, but they do, and I've gotten tired of the idea that we have to pretend someone isn't saying shitty things because of their identity.

For a long time, one of the topics I shied away from was discussing the divisions within the trans community specifically, because -- quite frankly -- I've seen the dogpiling that tends to happen to transmascs when we criticize the shitty, bioessentialist, 'man bad woman good' behaviors of a very small but very vocal section of the online transfem community.

But shying away from talking about that is just fucking cowardice, and I've never been able to stand for cowardice within myself. So yeah, you're definitely seeing more criticism of shitty intracommunity behavior within the trans community with me. I have never been one to criticize shitty behavior restricted to identity, however, and I have surely been critical of shit behavior regardless of whether or not the person saying it is a trans man, a trans woman, or any other group of people.

You will continue to see me criticize shitty behavior, because I am absolutely fed up with the way that this community treats itself, and you will see me talk about the things that happen as they happen. Right now, there's an awful lot of shitty behavior aimed at trans men and transmascs on this site, including some from trans women. It's absolutely unconscionable to talk about raping people, or to use words like "theyfab," "cuntboy," and "zippertits" to refer to transmascs. That's what's happening, so yep, you're gonna see that on my Tumblr.

The solution here is not to be concerned about me talking about it, but to be concerned about the people doing that. Talking about shit behavior isn't the problem. The shit behavior is the problem, and it's important to both talk about the shit behavior so it fucking stops, and to talk about the shit behavior very clearly as the actions of the people who took them and not the actions of a community. It sucks that there are transfems and trans women who think it's okay to treat transmascs and trans men the way that some transmascs on here are being treated right now. Those transfem folx should know better than to pull that shit, because they know what it's like to be the target of that kind of behavior.

That said, I am absolutely not responsible for what other people say or do. I am not aware of having reblogged or endorsed the idea of starting an archive of 'trans radfem shit,' so I'm very confused as to why exactly you're talking to me about it as if I said it or endorsed it or as if it has anything to do with me, or why it would be bad to talk about the way in which trans people of any gender can fall prey to radfem manipulation. Maybe the person talking about it specified they were tracking trans women, but even the ask you sent me says 'trans radfem behavior,' so I'm assuming it would be trans people of any gender, right? If not, why are you linking those ideas together?

Like, I didn't say it, I didn't endorse it, I'm not responsible for it, but what exactly would be wrong with talking about how radfem mindsets infect our community in the first place? The manner in which too many trans people find it easy to fall into the bioessentialist thinking of radfems is a community problem.

tl;dr: I criticize everybody when they act like fools, and I'm not responsible for some random thing that 'somebody I reblogged' said.

So, what have I been up to...? Since I was in Tumblr's spam-bot prison for more than 5 months, I thought I would create a little ICYMI post. (That's "In-Case-You-Missed-It" for the old folks like myself that have to look up all these new acronyms.) Rebirth coming out was the biggest thing this year, and I made my first manipulation for it back in March! You can see the post here, as well as a simple tutorial for it using GIMP(GNU Image Manipulation Program, free at gimp.org) here.

When I played the demo for Rebirth, I noticed that they had changed Sephiroth's eyes, and it reminded me of something...

Did you know that in Advent Children, Sephiroth's gloves are not as tight as in Remake and you can see his wrists? 😏Check it out! What? Of course this is important!

I took a look at Sephiroth and all his forms over the years. Then I did the same for Cloud.

My AO3 sefikura work In Death was finished on April 26th, and came with a special manipulation. That was also the first story where I was accused of writing non-con, when it obviously wasn't, so that was fun. If you need to hydrate, you can go drink that tea in the comments of, I think, chapter 16 and after. Several people have asked about a sequel, and I do have eventual plans. Hang in there.

So, I’ve just thought of something while looking at a submission for fanfiction civilization. Trigger warnings and archive warnings. And also some general rules for what I will and won’t take.

First, these fics can be from anywhere. If you have a fic from quotev or some other fic hosting site then send them in! I won’t accept anything like a google doc though. Next, we have content. I shouldnt have to say this, but I will just in case. No smut. The parkour sex fic (you know the one) is fine because its funny and not very graphic. Implied nsfw is okay, as long as it’s not the focus of the fic. Suggestive jokes are fine! Just nothing rated mature for smut.

Fics with archive warnings will have their link formatted like this so you know, and any sort of possible trigger mentioned in the tags of the fic will be tagged as “tw [trigger]” the self harm tag is “tw self harm” not “tw sh” and everything will be written normally. No shortening, no weird c3ns0rsh!p like that. I want people to be able to block the tags before I post them. If there’s anything triggering to you that might be in a fic or something you don’t want to see, block the tag using that formula.

Every individual fic in a submitted series will have individual links and a link to the overall series. There will be a screenshot of the overview and the summary will be at the bottom of the post.

There’s nothing else I have right now but if issues arise, I’ll update this as needed.

turns out that they were using the blog as a front to dox our new public enemy number 1, veal.

this is pretty interesting considering the veal hate that came recently to here, but anyways, that account dmed veal to say someone sent them these anons:

so! hypothesis and speculation time:

first off, i think the blog itself was probably made JUST for this purpose, seeing as everything happened in such a short timeframe. they possibly could have used a spoofed link on there? however since the gofundme is brought up, im more inclined to think they got the info there. since gofundme uses your bank account, you have to use your legal name. its possible they used veal's legal name in a background check website and got all of their info.

as for who is behind this, leads are minimal. veal did say that civ had donated to their gofundme, and while this doesnt directly implicate them it is a funny coincidence. personally, i think it could be any one of their cronies. they ARE someone in re-up, so anyone over there be careful with your personal info. this is proven with them using screens from the server that i havent used here (according to someone else in re-up) and the fact they specifically say "you can show this to re-up." theyre definitely an uber-cool master level troll who wanted to just sit back and watch it all burn *slides on sick shades*

their goal seems pretty clear, its someone with a vendetta against veal for whatever reason and wanted to scare them shitless. if i wanted to be even more of a conspiracy theorist, i would say the anon of my recent veal ask is the same person as the doxxer, but honestly i dont know how many enemies veal has

the last bit of interesting info is this post from civ that came out around 3 hours before veal dropped the "someone has my address" message

i hypothesize that this connects the situation more to one of civ's cronies, and possibly someone linked with isopups. considering zaga's current apology tour, veal suddenly getting hate, and the dark past of both isos and terras coming to light, thats what makes the most sense to me. this post could be a "coming to reality" moment for civ, not wanting to be tied in with these fucking lunatics anymore (and considering terras hasnt had any huge civ-related drama recently id say its a bit out of left field), but ultimately this is just me having playtime with my polaroids and red string

as a small conclusion, i feel slightly responsible for this, being the person to promo them (and considering the high visibility of this blog). as such, no more self promo in my inbox whatsoever. build an audience your own way

for a more final conclusion though, doxxing people isnt the way to go (thanks captian obvious), and really what does it accomplish? what are you going to do with the address of a person who pissed you off in a closed species discord server? are you gonna seek legal action against some stupid highschooler? are you gonna order pizzas to their house? SWAT them? send a really strongly worded letter? never mind the fact the communities involved are niches within niches within niches. try explaining this shit to someone in real life, try explaining it to your geriatric grandma.

my advice to you all: get a fucking job. go outside. talk to a real human person instead of your ChatGPT waifu. for the love of god stop wrapping yourself up so deeply in this shit that you need to go on a spec-ops mission to find some guy's address and scare them. do you really have nothing better to do? this behavior comes off as pathetic more than anything else. it screams to me "hi! im a socially deprived individual acting fucking insane because im constantly high off huffing the paint from the walls of my mother's basement, as well as the pervading stench of my own ass!"

Hai as a decently new utapri fan I wanted to ask your opinion on how new fans should get into utapri after finishing the anime. Should they play through the otomes games or maybe try listening to the Masterpiece shows instead?

Since the Masterpiece shows are all alternate universes/acting, it doesn't technically matter? So the real question is, do you like the idol side or the romance side more? Idol side, go for the masterpiece shows. Romance go for the games. And honestly switch around as you please. Just get to SOME game knowledge at some point because that's where you really learn about the boys after all. Personally it's best to know at least a little from everything.

Also the next most important thing will be whether you know Japanese or not. Because currently the anime, movies, and Starish special are the only things available in English. So what you can enjoy is more limited. Shining Live was in English for it's lifespan, and has some archives out there. Live Emotion we can only hope will have an English version but we do not know currently.

Now my answer to assist gets real long so gonna put it under a cut for everyone's sanity.

If you know Japanese, absolutely go enjoy the otome games, all of which have updated ports on the Switch! The release order and thus suggested order would be Repeat, Amazing Aria and Sweet Serenade, Debut, All Star, and finally All Star After Secret. And one day we'll have Dolce Vita.

If you want Quartet Night, while you meet them in Debut, their routes start with All Star. Ringo and Ryuuya have routes in Sweet Serenade and All Star if you're looking for them. Mitsuo in Amazing Aria is well....you'll see.

If you don't know Japanese, I still suggest looking into the games, but your options are more limited. ShiningWonderland has a fantastic crew pushing out translations. They're working on Repeat for Starish and All Star for QN currently. Couple of the routes are finished for at least one ending and others seem to be nearing completion. But I can't speak for that team past that. They are all wonderful people though!

If you don't mind getting a shortened, not amazing experience. There are some old summaries floating around from Breadmasterlee. Those, plus some friends who could understand enough, were how I learned parts of the games back in the day. Not the preferred experience though.

You could also technically struggle your way through with like Google Lens translation? Definitely not recommended though.

As for the masterpiece shows, again if you know Japanese, just enjoy them. I know that next to last set, the Shining Masterpiece Shows, have translations by Kanasmusings. You can also find translations for some other dramas there, and subtitles for a majority of the stage plays (you will need your own file or DVD/BD).

The most recent Dramatic Masterpiece Shows seem to be works in progress at the moment. I know utapri-translations-uuuu is working on Heavens! And the CDs can be found in my masterlist.

The older ones I don't know off the top of my head if translations exist at all.

There are also Discord servers amongst the community, some public and some private, with resources and amazing people. But I'm not sure on how appropriate it would be to post the public ones. They don't allow piracy so as much as I push buying legally, uh, understandably linking from my blog publicly feels wrong. You can very likely find said discords via the Twitter fandom. Or talk to me in DMs.

Hi! I'm glad you asked 😌

So right now, I'm only reading on Ao3, but I am planning on reading through Fanfiction.net and maybe Wattpad, too. Ao3 has by far the most fanfics, so I think I'll stick to that for the moment and maybe switch to the other platforms later. I know there are some great fics on fanfiction.net, so you'll definitely see some of those on this blog in the future.

The order I'm reading is from oldest to newest, because that seems to be the best way to do this. When I catch up one day (this may take years), I'm going to continue posting every new fic coming in.

I do like to alternate between short fics and long fics depending on how much time I have and how much I have my queue filled up. I have several tabs open with different filters for that.

So that's my structure. I'm open to suggestions on how to improve that if anyone has an idea.

And btw, if anyone wrote a newer fic and they want some promotion, I can squeeze them in earlier so you don't have to wait 2 years for me to feature your fanfic. Just send an ask with the link!

(( omg i missed this one when i was answering all those munday posts, so i'm sorry about that--but, THANK YOU SO MUCH!! <3

it's kind of hard to describe i think without going into full tutorial mode, but i can try and walk through my process!! i WILL say i got a lot of my methodology from other artists and guides throughout the years, which is the most important part of any art process! (i wish i had links to specific tutorials, but alas, social media sucks for archiving)

now, before i go any further, i'm in no way a professional. this isn't the "right" way to do things, and i certainly don't think i'm better than anyone else at this!! this is just how i do it, and my method makes me happy, so! that's what matters most!

i'm putting the rest beneath a cut, but i've documented my process for designing the palette for a new group of pokemon characters i'm working on! ))

with regards to colour palettes, the two most important things to me are contrast and unity. i'll explain both as i go!

when working on palettes i'll do a fairly quick doodle of the characters together, and then fill in their colours and markings on separate layers. i try not to put much thought into the actual swatches right now--they just need to be distinguishable!

Pesky and Baron already had their colours tweaked to match each other, but Lily and Frog (not their actual name i just haven't come up with one yet LOL) have not been. as a group, their colours look fine together, but we can bring them even closer.

i'll start with Frog (who i got as an adopt from @psychicduo <3)--i LOVE their palette, but it's darker than i normally work with, so i'm gonna brighten them up a bit.

in order to bring some colours closer together (unity!), i changed the hue value on the dark teal so it matched the hue on Baron's light blue. i don't want to change Frog's colours too much, but i applied similar changes to every other colour except the beige and the off-white (which are the same).

here's where contrast comes into play. i will say, i'm extremely anal about this in my own work, but having low contrast is not necessarily a bad thing! it's easy to visualize contrast in hue, but it's important to consider how your values and saturation may look to other people, especially for accessibility reasons. an easy way to do this is to view the colours in greyscale.

as you can see, the values of these two colours are too close, and therefore difficult to distinguish. i can fix this by making one of the colours a little lighter or darker. for now, though, i'm going to move on to the other characters.

this one's straightforward! instead of having multiple, very similar shades of yellow, i'm going to change Lily's body colour to be the same swatch as the yellow on Pesky (which is also the same one on Baron).

now, i feel as though Pesky's blue, being closer to purple, doesn't really look right next to Frog's blue-greens. i'm going to employ a trick i frequently use--the hue/saturation/luminosity sliders.

a bit more tweaking, and i have a colour that looks MUCH nicer next to the others!

at this stage, i'll admit that i'm not sure if i'm totally happy with that colour for Pesky; there are times i'll spend hours tweaking colours for one character. but, for the sake of this post i'll move along.

so here i have a choice to make: the darkest colours on all four characters can be unified better, and i have many options for how i can do that (and i should try all of them, to see what looks best to me). i can make Pesky's navy the same colour as Frog's, or vice versa; i can make Lily's purple the same colour as Baron's (in order to make the contrast between Pesky and Lily's purple better); but there's one more trick i like to do that i haven't shown yet.

do you have two similar colours, but you don't want to make one lighter or darker? blend them together!

so, using the techniques above--bringing the colours closer together, and checking the contrast between them--i'll keep tweaking all four characters, until i have a result i'm happy with. (note: most of the time, i'll make exceptions for the insides of their mouths and their eye colours--those can be whatever!)

one more thing! i love having an art program that lets me compare my current colour with my new one, especially if i have a particular swatch i do not want to change! photoshop does this, clip does this, procreate does this... not sure what others, but i'm using clip.

it's very likely i'll go back and make more changes, but for now, it's good to take a break so i can come back to this with fresh eyes later. :D

unfortunately i can't go back and show the exact process for picking the palettes for ask-meowscarada, but i can show you how some of these techniques were applied!

these rules don't just apply to character palettes, either--here's a commission i did last year, complete with the palette i used for both the character and the background!

WHEW... if you read through this entire post, thank you for sticking with me!! there are MILLIONS of ways to apply colour and i don't think any way is necessarily correct, but these techniques have helped me stay satisfied with the colour in my artwork for a very long time! thanks for the asking, anon, because i can go on about this for a REALLY long time... if this wasn't evidence enough LOL

Thank you so much for the info! I just finished Heat 2 and my brain is on fire. I’m gonna reread it and try to get my thoughts in order, there’s just so much to take in. As to your point about the characters next Mann-Gardiner book being continuations/extensions of Chris and Vincent, that would make a lot of sense. Heat 2 felt like it was a continuation/synthesis of all Mann’s previous works. It would make sense for the next book to be sequel/continuation of Heat 2 in terms of the ideas and themes but not necessarily an actual sequel to Heat 2.

You're welcome! And yeah, hands down the most insane trip I’ve ever been on reading a book. I’m still on it! The story itself is a hardboiled postmodern romp, and I also just never expected him to write a mass market crime novel that was intentionally designed (this is my master thesis, lmao) to engage you in a a hermeneutic test of wills. So when you read it a second time, my recommendation is to slow down and pay conscious attention to the language used and the reflexive activity that is you translating that language during the act of reading. When I first started picking up on some of the more ostentatious “text artifacts,” the effect was like having the embedded image in an optical illusion jump out at you all of a sudden. And once you see it, you can’t stop seeing it, and you also can’t stop wondering about the perceptual machinery that enabled this trickery to begin with. I will never know what made him decide to construct the book in this way, to give it a double-identity that is both concealing and announcing itself as hard as it can. This scene from Blackhat may be instructive:

So maybe he is just “still writing” and trying to figure that out himself. It is very much an archival effort, which you pick up on, and that reflexive quality has a playfulness to it that is whimsical one moment and vicious the next. And fabula aside, just nuts and bolts of narrative technique or pure “style,” the prose is mystifying. A vocabulary of “lowbrow” contemporary pulp grafted around metaphors and poetic devices so archaic they find their closest analogues in the Hebrew Bible. (Really!) For me personally it is so “fraught with background” that exegesis unveils information hazards. I’m being hyperbolic for fun, but it really is written as an undercover hypertext — a covert operator intended to be operated upon by the reader, opened up, investigated.

Major Blog Updates!!!!!

TLDR: I will be on a Writing hiatus as I do some digital spring cleaning and restart some old stories I’m not happy with. But expect many new crazy life updates now that I’ve moved. And some old, or maybe new ocs will start slowly trickling back in.

No wonder I was so stressed last year, I have 11 active series and counting… 💀 and yes, I am insane enough that I’m about to restart most of them from scratch. I wasn’t happy with the way things were going with most of them, and how sloppily they were written as I never expected there to be so many of you, to whom I’m very grateful for 🥺🥰🫀

This move seemed like the perfect time to just reinvent myself as a whole, and that includes my social media presence. I’m trying to build better, healthier habits this year. And one of them is learning how to say no every once and a while. Slow down and enjoy the little things. My Autism and OCD make it very difficult for me to say no to writing requests. But I’m working hard to make sure to only accept requests when I have the energy and the excitement to do so. I would be devastated to give you all content that I know is not my best, which is why I think a rewrite is in order. 🥰

It will be a big daunting task, but the point of it is to teach me to learn to approach my fear tasks like this. I have seriously considered becoming a writer for real and taking this more seriously, and Fan Fics are the perfect way to practice. Because you all always leave such lovely feedback 🥺 and it’s my favourite of writing. There would be no point to my words if they couldn’t be shared, and to have you all want me to write for you all the time is one of the greatest honours I could ever receive.

I love being able to give you all back even a fraction of the joy you bring me, by bringing your wildest dreams to life. You’re all like family to me and I love you so much. 🫀

Nothing makes me happier than writing for you all, but last year I let it get out of hand and stress me out to a very dangerous point. This year I will be more proactive about taking my time and not overloading myself with requests.

I will do my very best to keep on top of master lists and links (bare in mind I am still disabled and chronically ill so sometimes it just takes me a while to do things) that way there’s no stress for me in the future and I can keep track of all my things nice and neatly. My autism demands routine and hyper-specific organisation categories. And I’m tried of trying to fight it, so I’m willing to put in the work to make some healthy routines in the hopes that my brain will feel less like that of Frankenstein’s monster.

I will make Rule posts and DNI banners for all my pages. Therefore there’s less room for miscommunications. And I will be far more active about remembering to put Tw/CW. My wonderful partner @disableddee has agreed to help me edit works in the future and proof for triggering topics. Unfortunately Due to the environment I was raised in, it’s hard for me to tell when things are traumatic or abusive. So I never mean to trauma dump or forget tags on purpose. I genuinely do. It realise some of these topics may be triggering to other people, and of course I want to be very sensitive to that.
