it also caught me so off guard in episode 1 in particular that the crew clearly knew how much izzy was doing to protect them from ed?? no one's saying it out loud because it won't help but the hug, and the whole scene surrounding it, says they've all quietly been paying attention and worrying about him behind his back and it was a culmination of weeks and months of living like they were while knowing that izzy was bending over backwards to absorb as much of ed's rage and heartbreak and anger as possible in order to shield the rest of them??? help??

daisuke is 23. young but notable age to be a full on adult with no job or no furthered education yet.

anya is 28. also young. generously giving her 10 years after college age to try and get into med school 8 times. this is her second or third voyage.

jimmy is 38. hes got "baby" friend all over his face, but him and curly are still around the same age. handful of years shit outta luck/in jail in his early 30s before curly got him the job for a few years now.

curly is 40. older out of the two friends, pretty solid age for being successful captain who regularly takes year long voyages and climbed the ladder to the top. perfect age for his midlife crisis.

swansea is 49. 13 years a drunk after 21, then 15 years to become a "better" man. id like to imagine he never broke his sobriety since that night, so hes not any older.

cass cain is so emotive and I hate that so many of yall fall straight into the stoic asian woman stereotype thing because like, the only reason cass wouldn't vocalize a feeling is when she would struggle to find the word for it because she literally wasn't taught how to speak. that's so fucking upsetting. She has such big beautiful emotions, she feels so deeply about the littlest things but everytime she has trouble putting it into words she's reminded that she was conceived not to. her abuser did not have her feelings or her pain in mind, only how well she could end a life. can you fucking imagine

athena: *trying to peer over telemachus to see what he’s looking at* what do you have there, little wolf?

telemachus: *turns to face her* athena!- oh this? it’s a gift!

telemachus: w-well after you left yesterday, i decided to head to the palace library to look up some more information on the gods

telemachus: *looks down at his feet* i know he’s a powerful god and a gift seems like a silly idea… but he’s also fathers’ friend so i just thought-

The true love kiss thing worked with Mabel and Pacifica, but do you think it would work if Bill tried it if Dipper were to fall victim to a sleep curse now?

No, it probably wouldn't - the thing about 'true love' breaking curses is an old wives' tale. Dipper just used the placebo effect and some other stuff to get the concept working.

But it is funny to think about one of them getting horribly cursed without any possible cure, only for it to shatter into pieces the moment they smooch. Mostly because after the initial shock they'd both be so annoyed. Like, come on, that's not how curses work, and even if it was that's so.... cliche! Cue bitching session about dumb and contrived magical setups, and discussing what kind of loser planted such an easily-broken curse.
