(Hey guys sorry I havenât been active it has been a ROUGH few days, to cut a long story short Iâm back in therapy. You know what that means that means MORE UPDATES đŞ Iâm doing better so Iâm gonna try and update more love yâall so much â¤ď¸)
Life with the Zoldyck family surprisingly wasnât as bad as staying with the phantom troupe. The Zoldycks werenât openly threatening you but they gave you a look that said âtry me and Iâll kill youâ type look.
It was low key creepy staying with them because of how quiet most of them were.
Kalluto was quiet and reserved but he always lingered around you, following you around. He is good at sneaking around but you being on edge all the time allows you to feel his presence.
Kikyo was how do I put this, smothering. She was always asking you questions and having you try on outfits and dresses. (even if you are a boy sheâs making you try on dresses) She treated you like a doll it was VERY annoying.
Milluki never left his room and therefore never bothered you, but you did see him occasionally he always gave you a look.
Illumi was well strangely suffocating, not in a physical way he never touched you but his overall presence just feels a bit suffocating.
Zeno was chill, you thought he was cool. He would share stories with you about his past mission and such he was actually really nice to you. He even at first helped you train your nen.
Silva was a character, he had a glare like a mountain lion but treated you with kindness. He was nice to you but was always standing over you, watching you as if you were about to make a move.
You knew your curse was slowly infecting the family. You even for a split second considered staying cause of the luxury of their mansion but you knew it would only lead to more pain for you in the future.
So for the millionth time you created a plan, you knew that they would be almost impossible to escape, from their butlers to the cameras to the big fuckin wall of theirs escaping is virtually impossible.
So you decided to smooth talk your way out of here.
You were currently eating dinner with kikyo, Zeno, Kalluto and Illumi. Kikyo was ranting about various things. You had been poking at your food while lost in thought.
âDear? hello? [reader]?â Kikyo said trying to get your attention. You snapped out of it and were greeted with them all staring directly at you.
âHuh what?..â you said confused. âAre you feeling alright dear?â Kikyo said putting her hand on your head checking for a fever.
âYea just⌠distractedâŚâ you said trying to find the words.
Kikyo didnât seem to take this answer well she bombarded you with various questions.
You looked at Illumi desperate for him to do something to get his mom to stop but he just stared back blankly, same Kalluto except he just looked sad.
You then started at Zeno with pleading eyes, he seemed to get your message âmaybe theyâre just tired from all the stuff theyâve been doing todayâ Zeno said interrupting Kikyo.
In reality you hadnât done much of anything today, just try on clothes, walk with Kalluto, talk with Illumi about his upcoming mission and talk with Zeno. It was a mostly uneventful day.
But you simply nodded in agreement and left it at that.
Kikyo sent you off to bed, while walking away you turned to Zeno and mouthed a thank you. He simply nodded.
You laid in bed restless, you had been up thinking about what to say and who to say it to. You needed to leave before this infamous batch of assassins got to protective.
You decided you needed to talk with the head off the house, Silva. You got up and attempted to leave your bedroom, key word attempted.
You got stopped by the butlers immediately. You started struggling âlemme go! I have to uhhh bathroom!â You said frantically.
âLet them goâ Illumi said from behind you the butlers paused. You could have sworn you say fear on their faces.
They dropped you, you told Illumi you needed to talk with Silva and it was very important. You said some lie bout the phantom troupe and he let you pass.
The hallway was long and dark the butlers eyed you like you were the scum of the earth. Finally you got to Silvas room.
You knocked 3 times announcing it was you. The door creaked open and you slowly shuffled in.
He was sat on a bed of pillows, his room was strange.
He invited you to sit, you explained your predicament with the whole nen curse thing. âAnd i can get the curse removed but only my friend knows how to, itâs kinda an unknown thing so like sheâs the only one who can do it.â You said trying to sound as convincing as possible.
You had also maybe told Silva that the curse was slowly killing you. In your defense this might have been the only way he would let you leave.
You hadnât lied, just bent the truth a little. âI seeâ was all Silva said he thought for a moment on what to say.
âIâve noticed your nen there is something wrong with it, you may leave to have the curse removed.â He said calmly.
âReally?!â You said excepting for him to say no.
âYes, but after the curse is removed you are to return to us at once.â He said with a hint of sadness.
âThank u thank u!!â You said happily. âYou may leave tomorrow morningâ he said closing his eyes he seems to be thinking quite intensely.
You slept happy that night. You got up bright and early, you snuck out of your room tiptoeing as to not wake the others.
You ran into Kalluto on your way down the hallway. âWeâre are you going?â He said with genuine curiosity. âOh hi?.. Iâm going through something pretty bad right now and I need to leave to get cured of something that is plaguing meâ you said trying to sound professional.
He didnât say anything, you just sorta left he watched you as you walked down the stairs slowly.
You passed by Zeno on your way out. You looked at him and he nodded as if to say goodbye.
âHOW COULD HE LET THEM LEAVE LIKE THAT!â Kikyo said running around the house frantically. âWHAT IF THEY GET HURT?! Oh it just isnât fair!â She said crying.
She had gotten quite attached to you.
âWhat if they are lyingâ Illumi said to his father, âthey were telling the truth there is a curse attached to themâ Silva said in his usual calm voice.
âWhat if they donât returnâ Illumi said despite his calm demeanor he was mad you left. âWe can get them back easilyâ Silva said.
âAh sweet freedomâ you said enjoying the sunshine. You needed to find Bisky and find a way to get this stupid nen curse out of you.
You took several trains and a blimp back to were you had last met bisky. You walked towards the direction of her house.
â[reader]?!â You whipped you head around and found Bisky standing there. She ran up to you giving you a hug. âI thought they kidnapped you!â She said softly.
After a heart felt reunion, you and Bisky sat down at a coffee shop table together. She told you about something that might help you.
âIâm not positive it will work but itâs worth a tryâ she said drinking her coffee.
âThereâs this game greed island have you heard of it?â Bisky said. âOh yea I know what you are talking about! Itâs that game you can go in right?â You said almost happy.
âYes! Look at the auction this guy bought it and heâs looking for contestants to play it, whoever completes the game takes home 3 cards from the game with them!â Bisky said now exited.
âItâs all really interesting but as I was saying thereâs this card angels breath itâs a healing card maybe if we go into the game and find angels breath it can heal you of your curse!â She said now incredibly excited.
âYou think it will work?â You said hopeful.
âWe have to try, first of all do you have a hunters license?â Bisky said âyea I earned it a little while ago it was rough but totally worth itâ you said proud of your accomplishment (for those that havenât read my other parts, reader meets the boys in heaven arena so that means you got your license by yourself)
âGood good because to even have a chance you need a licenseâ
After eating yâall left towards the building Bisky said would get yâall in the game. Of course the guards didnât take you seriously but a beating and showing of yâall licenses was enough to get yâall in.
The guys that bought all the copyâs of the games, interviewed yâall and eventually yâall were let in.
Everything was going smoothly a bit too smooth.
As yâall waited in the room guess who you spotted or rather they spotted you.
None other than Gon and Killua, Gon practicly jumped on you. â[READER]!!!!!â He screamed as he tackled you.
Of fucking course you thought.
They bombarded you with so many questions it made Kikyos question look like a breath of fresh air.
They held onto you so tightly it was impossible to breath. You started thrashing and screaming, guards rushed over and threatened the boys that they would be kicked out.
The guards stood between you and the monsters, they started arguing with the guards saying that you were their sibling and they had a right to talk to you.
You simply ran back to biskys side(she wa sin the bathroom so she didnât see them jump on you)
âAre you alright?â Bisky said concerned âyea Iâm fineâŚâ you said keeping your head down as some strange attempt to make yourself small.
The guards explained the rules and how the game works the entire time the boys were staring at you intently.
A quick rock paper scissors game happened to see who would go in first. Gon of course won, you had placed 17th and bisky was 16th she said she would wait for you.
As you entered the game you met a weird lady that let you know the jist of how the game works and off you went. You landed and almost instantly grabbed biskys hand and ran. Lucky for you Gon was occupied with some random guy that was talking to him.
Luck seems to hate and love you.
All you could do was hope Bisky was right, what wonders await you here?
Thatâs all for today I want to right more but Iâm so tired rn so Iâll try and update yâall tomorrow. Love you all bye bye(p.s sorry if there are spelling mistakes my phone hates me)âĄÂ´ď˝Ľá´ď˝Ľ`âĄ

four days before.
âIâm gonna go out for drinks with the girls Saturday.â
âUhhh, you canât.â
Did he need to loop your coworkers into the proposal plan too? Phoenix having dragged it out of him so they could all help was bad enough. Bradley could feel his headache building behind his eyes. He tried to avert eye contact to make the conversation feel natural, instead focusing his gaze on the onion he was trying to caramelize.Â
âI canât?â
Bradleyâs never been controlling, never tried to tell you who you can and canât hang out with, and certainly never with that particular tone in his voice. He heard the mail you were inspecting drop onto the granite countertop as you turned your full attention on him.
âWhy?â
Fuck.
He could hear the way your eyes were narrowed from the uncharacteristically steady tone of your voice, the way one eyebrow was raised expectantly.Â
In the back of his mind, Bradley also saw the picnic blanket, candles, and bottle of your favorite wine stashed at Mavâs. There were the flowers he had to pick up and arrange on Friday while you were working, the homemade meal Javy promised him that he needed to grab on Saturday around midday.Â
âI made dinner reservations at this new place down by the beach, and the only time they had was Saturday evening.â
âAnd you forgot to tell me until now?â
Bradley didnât forget. Not about these types of things. Ever since your first date, Bradley had been nothing but proactive. He planned dates, cooked meals, doted on you. Forgetting just wasnât like him.Â
âMade the reservation this morning and you seemed busy.â He finally met your eyes and he watched as your gaze softened and you turned back to the stack of mail.
âBradley Bradshaw you are a sap.â
And the moment passed.Â
You and Bradley had talked about marriage, you have. Youâd talked about it enough for him to know what kind of ring you wanted, that you wanted a small, intimate ceremony, and that youâd lost more than enough sleep over whether to invite your parents. Youâd talked enough to know Bradley would probably have the Dagger Squad as best men (people?) and that heâd let Phoenix be part of your bridal party if you wanted, that he wanted Mav right there next to him, and that there would be an empty chair for Goose and Carole. That was one thing.Â
Getting down on one knee and actually going over that line? That was another.Â
The rational part of his brain had always insisted that you would say yes, that you also knew from very early on, if not the beginning. The unhelpful part of his brain kept telling him the ring was the wrong size or that a seagull would swoop down and steal the shiny thing right from his fingertips before you could even say no.
three days before.
Bradleyâs checked the ring at least six times since he, Javy, and the other guys came into the shop. The sound of the velvet clicking back against itself then sliding open again was starting to grate on his nerves, but he wanted to give Bradley the benefit of the doubt. He remembered what it was like, that lump in your throat, the way his brain tended to keep him up about every disagreement, every time he shouldâve apologized instead of stewing on his anger.Â
Javy, instead, choose peace. He watched calmly as Bradley opened the box again, and brought a finger up to trace the gems before deciding against it.
Doesnât want to smudge it.
There was clearly something on his mind, because the ring had been paid for months ago and the re-sizing and adjustments were included in the price. But there Bradley was, stuck to the shop floor, looking like he was trying to decide between getting sick right there and maybe saving it for the trees outside the shopâs doors.
âWhatâcha thinkinâ about there, Rooster?â Jake sidled up to Bradleyâs side, voice a low murmur, as if trying not to startle the man.Â
Regardless, Bradley jumped slightly, jostling the open box and the sound of the box snapping shut echoed harshly around the showroom. Bradley looked like he mightâve decided on getting sick inside.Â
âShould I get a second one? What if she doesnât like this one?âÂ
Across the room, a sales associate perked up just slightly, clearly looking to score on another guy so nervous he looked like a ghost. Vultures.
âBradley, my man, weâve been over this a thousand times. Phoenix got her Pinterest, itâs all a certain style, and itâs definitely the perfect ring.âÂ
Jake and Bradley had begun to get along, rather begrudgingly at first, then very amicably, after the mission and Jake saved Bradleyâs life. Seeing him comfort Bradley was something else though, Javy acknowledged. It was kind of nice to have that tension dissipate from within their team.
âBut what if I need another perfect one?âÂ
âAre you gonna propose to her twice?â Bob had popped up on Bradleyâs other side, silent as ever. âUsually thereâs a second one for the wedding, but Iâm here for a bit of a new tradition.â
At that, Bradley deflated a bit. The box in his hands clicked open, then shut again.
âNo, no new tradition.â He murmured, before slipping the box into his pocket.
two days before.
Bradley knew Mav loved him, but he wasnât sure how much he would after this whole ordeal. They mustâve run over the schedule at least a thousand times, forward and backward, even while flying over their comms. At this point, Bradley was sure he had the entire Dagger Squad reciting the plan in their sleep. He hoped he at least wasnât, he didnât need you to be clued into anything.Â
âNothing has moved since the last time you were here. Go home, Bradley.â Mavâs voice carried through the house as Bradley unceremoniously burst through the door.Â
Heâd started leaving work fifteen minutes early last week, just to double check that everything was in its place, that nothing had broken or spontaneously combusted. It was just enough time for him to stop at Mavâs place on the way home, do his round, and make it home around the same time as usual so as not to rouse suspicion.Â
âIâm justââ
âJust checking yeah, get outta my house Bradley and go be with your fiance.â Mav had rounded the corner into his back room, all bathed in sunlight and a picture-perfect reminder of why people loved living in California.Â
He was the picture of relaxed domesticity, dish towel over his shoulder, spatula in one hand that he was clearly thinking about hitting Bradley with as he paced the room and ticked things off on his fingers as he murmured to himself.Â
âYouâre gonna wear a hole in my carpet, and I happen to really like that rug.â Bradley stopped walking but the way his fingers twitched at his sides clued Mav into the way he was clearly still running through the run of show in his mind.Â
âSheâs not my fiance yet.â
âAnd she never will be if I murder you for breaking into my house and giving my wife a heart attack.â
âPennyâs not even home at this hour.âÂ
Mav had never seen Bradley like this. Heâd missed graduations and recitals and all the shit you donât get to see as an estranged god-father, but heâd done enough wondering about what he was like in those moments to have come up with this scenario. Bradley truly was the perfect mix of Goose and Caroleâall Gooseâs easy romantic energy, ever creative, ever attentive, and just as much of Caroleâs eye for detail and desire for things to go right.Â
âBradley.â
Mav watched as the fight eased out of Bradleyâs shoulders and his hands relaxed at his sides, âRight. Sorry.â
âLook son, you donât have to be sorry for wanting this to go right. And youâve only got a little of sorry to be about starting to drive me insane.â At that, Bradley cracked half a smile and Mav considered that a small success. âYou like this at home?â
A sharp laugh echoed around the wood-paneled room, âOh absolutely not. Sheâd know in a heartbeat.â
âWell, then you have your answer.â The gears were turning at a million miles an hour as Bradley tried to decipher what he meant. âShe knows you in a heartbeat, which means she knows how she feels about you. And we both know what that means for Saturday.â
Bradley nodded, the picture of relaxation and ease all at once. âIâll see you Saturday.â
one day before.
Bradley was starting to think the gash on his finger was some sort of awful omen, something terrible that had been awaiting to reveal itself until the last moment. Heâd arranged flowers for you probably a million times at this point, had even done it blindfolded (only cheating a bit so he didnât lose a finger) just to amuse you. Now, as he stared at the blood bubbing up from his middle left finger where heâd just stabbed himself with the scissors, the entire thing felt like some sort of cosmic joke.
Heâd never doubted that he wanted to marry you, not even when youâd argued or insisted on shoving your ice cold fingers and toes up against him in the dead of night. Not once had he wavered since that initial thought in his brain, and he was even more sure when he went to open that fucking bank account that heâd been diligently adding a sizeable portion of his paycheck to. (What? He wanted to be sure he could afford exactly what you wanted, DeBeers advertising campaign be damned.)
Maybe he just didnât need the fanfare, maybe he needed to ditch the plans and just hand the rock to you over Chinese takeout and let that be it.Â
The only thing keeping him going despite all his nerves, aside from his deep love for you, was the way youâd once leaned against him when the two of you were spending a week away in the mountains. Overlooking something that felt like it was right from a postcard, youâd told him exactly how all the little romantic things he did made you feel.Â
âEvery time you buy me flowers, I get this little feeling in my chest, like something curling around my heart.â Bradley remembered keeping himself from making a joke, something about heart attacks, trying not to break the moment as the fog hung low over the trees.Â
âFrom the moment you picked me up for our first date and insisted on opening the car door, bringing me flowers, they all make me get that little squirmy feeling that no oneâs ever given me before.â You had pressed yourself to his side but not met his eyes, as if your confession was too powerful, too heavy to make when looking at him, âAnd some of itâs because Iâm a sap at heart and you somehow know what I want before I do, but some of itâs just because itâs you Bradley. Always has been, always will be.â
The words said next would keep him going in his darkest moments, kept him together on long deployments, kept him pushing through every moment of doubt in the planning process.
âSo if you ever decide to propose to me, even if itâs just you asking me over coffee, just know Iâll get that feeling, just because itâs you.âÂ
At that, youâd turned to face him, shifting so you could hook your chin over his shoulder where he turned his face to yours. He could see every lash, every spot on your face that he loved to press his lips to when you were too sleepy to protest. Youâd graced him with a tiny smile, somehow just a bit melancholy, but all too loving.Â
Bradley shook his head, clearing the memory as he scrambled to keep his blood from spattering on the countertop. He was going to have to grit his teeth through the pain of using a liquid bandaid so the pictures werenât ruined by a regular bandaid.Â
Youâd compromised on drinks being Friday, so he had the evening to himself. All the time in the world for flowers, for a barbecue at Javyâs (home cooked meal to be picked up that night instead of Saturday morning), and for waiting up for you to text that you were ready to go home.Â
the day of.
Bradley thought heâd be blinded by panic, or doubt, now that he was counting down hours and minutes in place of days or weeks. Instead, all he felt was a sense of serenity, almost like he was floating through the motions.Â
The day started like every Saturday heâd had since you moved in and heâd been granted a relatively permanent station at Top Gun with Mav and the restâyou pressed up against him, your hair tickling some part of his bare skin, and the type of bone deep satisfaction with life that came with going to bed with a full belly and the love of his life at his side. He stared up at the ceiling fan as it made its lazy rotations and thought about how today was marking the difference between two parts of his life.Â
After today, there would always be a time before the proposal, and after.Â
The morning was lazy as you insisted you didnât have a hangover but let Bradley cook you a plate full of turkey bacon, gently scrambled eggs, and a few hashbrowns. He knew you would be fine by afternoon, and after that excited to hang out at the beach before dinner.Â
He was sort of counting on it.Â
Apparently heâd underestimated your ability to bounce back because the way you draped yourself across his bare back was a little less than innocent as your hands smoothed over his shoulders and down his stomach. He slowed the way he was chewing the last of his hashbrown as you pressed a kiss to the sensitive spot under his ear.Â
âGood morning, Bradley,â You crooned lowly.
âMorninâ.âÂ
His stomach jumped as you ran a nail over one of his nipples, and kissed at his shoulder. Tilting his head to the side to give you more room to work with, he took a slow drink of his water.Â
Maybe he wanted you to work for it just a little, what with how badly heâd been stressing these last few weeks.Â
And work for it you did. The light drag of your nails just barely there on his stomach and arms had him getting hard faster than he thought was humanly possible. But there was just something about the warmth of your chest at his back, the thinness of some shirt youâd stolen from him doing little to hide the swell of your breasts, that did it for him. Hell, it was really just that it was you that got him going.Â
âI missed you last night.â You whined, just a bit, as he finally turned around on the barstool and gathered you into his lap.Â
You could definitely feel the way he was hard against the soft give of your thighs, but somehow in that moment, all he wanted was you near. Sensing that somehow the moment had maybe passed, you curled in his lap and stretched your arms around his shoulders, apparently just content to be touching him.
âI missed you too.â
The way your lips met his was almost as natural as breathing, and then the moment wasnât so innocent anymore. Your lips slotted against his as you kneaded at his arm muscles and part of Bradley was incredibly satisfied that you were enjoying just how much effort he put in at the gym. Sure, he had to be fit for his physical, but how hard he went on his biceps and shoulders was purely for your benefit.Â
When the two of you finally stumbled back into the bedroom, Bradley thought he might pass out from how hard he was. Everything about you was amplified somehow. Your skin was softer and the gentle scent of whatever perfume youâd worn last night filled his nose. The give of your hips and thighs was easier and all he wanted was to sink his teeth into you and never let go. You might even let him.
Sprawled underneath him you looked like a goddess, bathed in the rising morning sun, nipples gently peaked as your chest rose and fell.Â
âI love you.âÂ
It was so tender in comparison to the way you sat up and worked a hand inside Bradleyâs boxers to grab firmly at his cock. He groaned as you shoved at the little clothing the two of you were wearing and in a moment, your skin was a beautiful contrast to the crisp white of the sheets.Â
Bradley made to go down on you but you kept his face in your hands, âBeen ready to go since I watched you scramble those eggs.â
He couldnât hold back the way he barked out a laugh, that one was new. âThe way the white and yolk were combined really do it for you?â
You smacked at his chest indignantly as he propped one of your thighs over the crook of his elbow, âYour back and arms look nice when you whisk, you asshole.â
You werenât so huffy as he slid into you, gentle as ever. Bradley knew he wasnât the biggest ever, but he also knew he wasnât anything to scoff at either. He kissed away any discomfort he could see on your features til you rocked your hips up against his insistently.
âGive it to me like you mean it, babe,â Grinning all cheerfully, Bradley cursed under his breath as he felt you bear down on him.
After that, there was little to be said beyond whispers of I love you and the occasional swear word. Sometimes sex between the two of you was raunchy and heated, and other times it rounded out his Saturday mornings in a way that left him sated like nothing else. Sometimes he thought it might be better than flying.Â
You came first, digging your nails into his shoulders and breathing his name in repeat. The feeling of you squeezing around him did little to keep him from coming and besides, the way you scraped your nails down his chest and begged him to let go definitely did him in.Â
Clean up was quiet kisses and gentle shoves in the direction of the en-suite bathroom, Bradley making sure the water wasnât too cold for you as you peed. (It was the little things.)
-
Fuck what Bradley had thought earlier about being serene, he thought he was going to crawl out of his skin. Holding your hand as the two of you made your way down the beachfront towards the space behind the Hard Deck, you were chattering on about some coworkerâs baby shower and Bradley was focusing way too hard on not absolutely eating shit with the way the sand was shifting under his feet.Â
In the distance, he could see the candles and the picnic blanket like a homing beacon. He couldnât see Mav or Javy or anyone else, but he knew they were all hiding somewhere, ready to burst from the shadows in excitement. Harvard was also brandishing a camera even though Bradley couldnât see any hint that he was aroundâturns out he was a more-than-amatuer photographer and had volunteered to capture the moment.Â
âBradley, whatâs all this?â Your voice reached a winded sort of pitch as the two of you finally reached the set up.
It was perfect, and part of Bradley finally exhaled. The picnic blanket from your fourth date, the little tea candles doting the beach, and the bouquet of flowers resting at the corner of the blanket, right within Bradleyâs reach.
Gently dropping your hand, Bradley picked up the flowers and pressed them into your hands. By now, youâd clearly caught on that something was happening because your eyes were wide and slightly teary, and there was a ghost of a wobble in your lower lip.Â
Tan suit be damned, Bradley dropped to one knee and pulled out the velvet box that had been burning a hole in his pocket since before the two of you had gone out to dinner. (The dinner reservation had actually been real, to his credit.)
âOh my god,â you whispered, bringing a hand to your mouth in a way that betrayed the way your hands were shaking.Â
Bradley inhaled deeply, before popping open the lid of the box and letting his eyes flick down to where the ring was sitting, nestled right where it was supposed to be.
As if unable to stop yourself, you opened your mouth and blurted, âIf youâre about to ask me what I think you are, the answer is yes. A thousand times yes.âÂ
Blinking up at you, Bradley didnât move a muscle as you kept going, âOh my god wait you probably have a whole speech, Iâm so sorry, Iâll shut up now.â
Distantly, Bradley heard a shutter clicking but neither of you broke eye contact as his face broke into a huge smile. He kept going according to his plan, the unspoken understanding passing between the two of you that youâd never live that down.
He said your first name like a prayer, before launching into the speech heâd rehearsed for months now, âI have loved you since I met you. I love every part of youâyour laugh, the way youâre passionate about your work, the way you love everyone around you with such intensity. I love you when we argue, I love you when weâre together and apart. You consume my every waking thought, and grace me with your presence when I dream. And I wouldnât have it any other way.â
âI want to wake up next to you for the rest of my life. I want to bicker about how we go through junk mail, the right way to parallel park, and what show weâre going to watch on Thursdays for however long youâll let me. I want you by my side for the good, the bad, in sickness, and in health.â He said your name again, before asking the question he already knew the answer to, âWill you marry me?â
âYes, oh my god yes.âÂ
Miraculously, Bradley slipped the ring on your finger without incident, then gathered you up into his arms and pressed your lips together. His cheeks were wet with your tears.Â
âI love you so much, Bradley Bradshaw, you are my everything,â You choked out when he set you down unable to stop yourself from sticking your hand out in front of you and crying harder when you saw the ring of your dreams adorning your hand.Â
âI canât believe you said yes before I asked,â He breathed before pulling you into him to kiss you fiercely one more time.
-
âShe said yes before I even opened my mouth,â Bradley chuckled as you giggled by his side, hands never leaving the new ring on your finger.
âThatâs not nearly as bad as you were for the last three months,â Javy crowed, and the crowd was in uproar as Bradley attempted to defend himself.Â
Above all the noise and the lighthearted teasing, Bradley knew one thingâhe was happy. And you had said yes.

Caught red handed
âââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
Fandom: One Piece
Characters: Ler! Sanji, Lee! Luffy
Word count: Around 800
â ď¸THIS IS A TICKLE FIC SO IF YOU DONâT WANNA SEE THAT, YOU HAVE BEEN RANDO WARNEDâ ď¸
âââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
When the food on the ship goes missing, only one person could be responsible- But will he confess his kitchen crimes?
âââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
It was an early morning on the Thousand Sunny, and a certain blonde cook had woken up early to prepare breakfast and plan out meals for the rest of the day. Heâd decided on some bacon and eggs, a simple meal, yet full of nutrients for the crew. Then for lunch, Chicken sandwiches with some veggies on the side, and maybe some delicious steak for dinner! However all those plans went overboard when he opened the fridgeâŚ
âWHAT THE-?! Where did all the food go?!â Yelled Sanji, eyes wide as he looked at the completely empty fridge- Well- Save for a few vegetables. Who would do such a thing to his food stock- Those were his ingredients! Chicken, steak, butter, eggs, bread- All gone! He turned around to storm out and question everyone, until he spotted a line of bread crumbs trailing all the way to the shipâs figurehead. He followed it along, but he knew the only person it could possibly be already. âLUFFY! YOU IDIOT, WHEREâS MY- Luffy?!â
Of course, the captain was fast asleep and snoring. However his face was covered in small pieces of chicken, crumbs of buttered bread scattered beside him- Wait thatâs his ingredients! He ran up, delivering a firm kick to to Captainâs behind which almost sent him flying into the water with how hard he jolted awake. âWAA- OW OW OW! WHAT HAPPENED?! DID WE FIND THE ONE PIECE- Oh itâs just you- Good morning Sanji!â
âGood morning?! Oh it is not a good morning, you ate all the food- Again!â Sanji scolded him, practically fuming. He knew the captain was a glutton but it was tiring constantly trying to stop him from clearing the kitchen. Hell he even put locks on the fridge before, and he still got in somehow!
âHey as hungry as I am right now, I didnât eat all the food this time!â
âOh yeah? Then who did?â
âUhhhâŚUhhhâŚUssop!â
Was the guy being serious right now..? That wasnât gonna work on him, he had evidence right in front of him. âRight, you mean the one whoâs too scared to even step foot in the kitchen alone so I donât knock his lights out?â
âHey- Donât say that! Ussop could handle you!â Luffy threw back.
âUgh whatever this isnât about that. You ate all the food!â
âNo I didnât!â
âYes you did!â
âDid noO-AAH- SANJI-!â The captain of the straw hats yelped as he was suddenly tackled to the ground. âWAIT SANJI- LET GO!â He attempted to make an escape, stretching an arm out to grab at the railing of the ship and pull himself out from under the blonde, only to squeal in surprise and retract it right back to his side when he felt fingers scribbling at his sides.
âOh no you donât! Not this time!â Sanji smirked, determined to get his captain to fess up.
âWAHAHA- Sahahanji- Wahait!â Luffy giggled, wiggling like a worm. How dare Sanji use his secret- not so secret- weakness against him!
âNope! I donât wait, unless you can bring me more food to make up for everything you ate!â
âNohoho! I tohohold you I didnât eheheat thehehem!â He denied through his bright giggles, however both of them knew the obvious truth.
âOh yeah? Then whatâs all this mess huh?â The cook looked at the crumbs around them and then back at Luffyâs smiling red face.
âUhhh- Heheheh-! Nohothing!â He kicked away all the crumbs in his squirming, but Sanji wouldnât let up this easy and he knew it.
âNothing? Yeah right.â He continued his attack, drilling his thumbs into Luffyâs hips, sending him into renewed louder giggles. But he still wasnât confessing. âAlright fine, if you wonât tell the truth..â He leaned down, and blew a loud raspberry on Luffyâs tummy, sending the boy into hysterics.
âPFF- BWAAAHAHAHAHA- SAHAHANJIIIHIHI!â He squealed, throwing his head back with wild laughter, a huge grin on his face. Sanji would be lying if he said that his laughter wasnât contagious. But heâd never admit that! He continued to blow raspberry after raspberry, until eventuallyâŚ
âOKAHAY OKAHAHAHAY! I AHAHATE THE FOHOHOOD!â
âI knew that already dumbass. Now- Are you gonna get us more food at the next island?â Sanji asked, halting the raspberries to look up at the captain with poised hands.
âYehehes! Yehes! I will!â He replied, slowly calming down from his giggle high. Sanji got off of him, standing up and dusting himself off.
âGood. Anyways, I had a backup stash in case of you doing this-â
âWHAT?! WHERE?!â
âAS IF IâD TELL YOU!â He shoved Luffy away, and before they knew it, he was chasing him around, hoping he wouldnât find the extra stash. And as crazy as his captain might drive them, he supposed it made things a bit more entertaining.
âWILL YOU TWO SHUT UP?! ITâS 5AM, I NEED MY SLEEP!â A sandal came flying at the two, which conveniently only hit luffy. And now he forgot what he was doing, distracted by the redheadâs voice.
âSORRY, NAMI SWAAAN!â
âââââââââââââââââââââââââââ

âItâll be like weâre Bonnie and Clyde!â âYou do know they die in the end right?!â âCanât you ever just let the analogy work for once?!!â
âAre you flirting with me?â
âJust please be my best friend right now, not the guy/girl I just confessed my love to.â
âWhy havenât you kissed me yet?â
âYouâre such a brat!â

Sub!Peter B. Parker/Dom!Male!Spider!Reader
Hdhdjd
Warnings because I always forget them: uhhh scent thing? scent kink???, getting caught, PANCAKES, porn, simple dick sucking
I tried to make the scent thing less weird but I think I failed with the wording I'll be honest
Before Mayday of course
Okay for my update schedule I'm going to try and get something out every/every other Sunday and maybe sooner if I feel like it
I'm easing myself into using the word dick and penis more can you tell? I damn well hope you can cause I go through hell trying to do it
I hate the word suckle
This is less mean!dom!reader then I usually do but it'll have to work because I'm on a time crunch here
Summary: would you like some plot with your porn???? yes? too damn bad
Your house was surprisingly quiet and desolate tonight as you flip the pancakes you were making for dinner. Nobody ever said a Spider had to have a good eating schedule to be a hero, you know.
The last pancake got shoved onto the plate, and you wooped in hurray. Hunger was one of your biggest weaknesses during missions (and everyday life).
"Peter!" You called.
Your fruitcake boyfriend, Peter B. Parker, was also a Spider working for Miguel. He had recently got home from a particularly hard mission, so the pancakes were mostly for him.
No call back or footsteps came from your shared room. You wait a second, a minute, ten minutes, still nothing came.
But then you hear a slight squeaking from something against the wall. Your eyebrows crease in confusion as you walk slowly towards the room, preparing for a fight.
You slammed open the door to a quite erotic scene. Peter had a pair of your boxers from the dirty clothes basket you both shared held up to his face. His hand that wasn't holding them was stroking his dick furiously.
You lean against the door frame and watched for a second, contemplating whether to continue the moment or ruin it once you make yourself known.
"Peter." It was almost like a command.
Your voice was lustful and your eyes glazed over with the thoughts that consumed you like a body of water you were sinking in.
His eyes shot open and he lowered the hand covering his face with the boxers to his lap. His expression was surprised and shocked.
"M/N, I thought you were making pancakes." He muttered.
You chuckled a little. "I was until I heard our ridiculously loud bed creaking and then walked in to this."
His face was completely beet red at this point, and his hand had let go of his painfully erect 'problem' he was dealing with.
"The pancakes are done then?" He scratched the back of his neck nervously.
You nod. "But I'm going to finish what you started before you eat them."
His face looks bewildered and slightly betrayed. You guess he feels this way because your letting the pancakes get slightly colder than normal.
Once he talks, your thoughts are confirmed. "M/N, the pancakes will get cold!"
Without a word, you crawl quickly onto the bed and capture his red and puffy lips into a ferocious kiss that took all the breath away from you.
It feels like you pulled away all too soon to kiss down his jaw, neck, and finally arrive at his collarbones where he was the most sensitive.
Peter groans a little when you start to suckle on one of his sweet spots you had hit not even two nights before.
He tries to snake his hand through your entangled bodies to touch himself, but you bat his hand away quickly.
"No, I'm going to do it." You declared darkly.
He furrowed his eyebrows in testy defiance but ended up not acting on it. His arm went to hold onto your shoulders while you straddled him lightly.
Leaning down silently, your lips wrapped around the tip of his weeping cock. Peter's groans filled the air that was heavy with the scent of erotica.
His legs were shaking violently and squeezing around your head while you lick a stripe up the vein of his dick.
"Oh shit, M/N!" He sucked in a breath quickly. "I'm gonna cum."
"Already?" You half-heartedly complained.
He whined as you came off with a 'pop' sound. Leaning on your elbows, you look up at him through your lashes in thought.
"Should I let you cum yet, Peter?" You tilted your head in faked innocence.
He blinked in confusion and then rolled his eyes affectionately because he knew what you wanted from him.
Peter sighed and closed his eyes. "Yes, please."
Grinning evilly, you lowered yourself back onto him, immediately setting a fast pace to get him to achieve his orgasm.
He screamed, probably loud enough for the neighbors to complain about, and white ropes of cum shot out of his tip and into your eagerly waiting mouth.
His breaths were labored with the strain of staying up even if he was leaning on the headboard. Peter looked at you in contemplation.
You stood up slowly with a mischievous grin present on your face.
"Where are you going?" He questioned.
"I don't know about you, Pete, but I'm going to eat some of the cold pancakes I made."
With that, you walked away from Peter briskly, leaving him to wallow in his post-orgasm clarity.

Thatâs when you hear the screech from the hallway.
âOh! Call Animal Control! Oh! It has rabies!â
âIt is even still alive?â
âI heard it growl!â
Later, you wonât be able to say how you know. Â There have been countless chaotic squirrels in the building before, and the occasional massive rat off the streets, though you suspect they all have much better reasons to be afraid of humans than vice versa.Â
But you do know. Maybe itâs Mr Hobbesâ weird behavior or maybe itâs something more cosmic than that, but you know, and you grab your key off the hook and step into the corridor, still in just your bikini-briefs and a sweatshirt that almost goes to your knees.
Your gaze finds him unerringly: passed out, possibly injured, wedged in the doorway at the top of the stairwell with the heavy fire-door propped open on his ribs.Â
âUhhh,â you interrupt, pushing past your neighbors. âSorry. Sorry. Heâs my - â you pause, thoughts colliding with each other â - my friend.â
âYour friend?â says Josh From Down the Hall. Heâs been bugging you to go out to dinner and drinks for months. âWhat is he, some kind of miniature furry?â
You roll your eyes and pull open the door, propping it with a hip while you try to hoist Rocket into your arms. Unfortunately, he weighs even more now - probably due to the heavy artillery on his back and at his hips, all of which makes him very awkward to carry. Geezus, one of these guns alone has to be at least as much as his body weight. âHeâs not a - â
âHe must be your new cat,â says Brenda From Next Door, her voice a little doubtful. Brenda is harmless enough, though she can be annoying. âI hear millennials like to talk about their pets like theyâre actual people.â
Thereâs way too much to unpack there and fuck. He weighs a ton. Your arms are shaking as you stagger past them. âHeâs not - â
âHeâs not a cat, Brenda,â Josh says rudely. âDidnât you hear her? Heâs her shrimpy, perverted boyfriend. Wasted in the frigginâ stairwell.â
You sigh. âJosh, this is why no-one wants to date you.âÂ
âYou fuckinâ bitch - â
âBrenda, can you help me with the door?â
The older woman rushes to turn your doorknob and pushes it open for you, while also trying to stay as far away as she can from the Space Pilot in your arms.Â
Did something happen to Mr Hobbes then, dear? Is that why you got a new cat?â
Geezus. No wonder Rocket had been so exhausted of hearing peopleâs bullshit last time. Itâs been five minutes and youâd cheerfully throttle both your neighbors. And you like to think you like people.
âNope. Heâs still alive and kickinâ. Thanks, Brenda.â
You lean against the door when it closes behind you, shuffling the weight in your arms so you can slide the deadbolt and chain lock. By the time you get Rocket to the bedroom, youâre panting. Maybe the loveseat would have been the closer, better option, but youâre pretty scared youâre going to need to be able to access him from all sides.Â
You rest him on the bed. Mr Hobbes is pacing in the doorway while you wipe the sweat from your brow and then tie up your hair with the elastic around your wrist. The cat meows pitifully.
âHeâs gonna be okay, Hobbsie,â you mumble, looking down at your prodigal houseguest. Heâs wearing some sort of jumpsuit with blood splashing up one side, but itâs hard to discern much thanks to the plethora of firearms heâs sporting. Carefully, you pick over the range of buckles and snaps and magnets holding his holsters in place. Some just look like grips, but have the weight of something much larger. You donât know the first thing about guns, really, but you have a feeling that most of Rocket's donât exactly have a safety.
Cautiously, you undo what you can, lifting each weapon with slow deliberation, keeping every barrel pointed away from you, from your wounded guest, and from Mr Hobbes. Probably these things can blow through sheetrock even better than regular bullets, so you lay them on the floor by the exterior wall, lined up neatly with the barrels pointed toward the brick. Â
Then youâre unstrapping the harnesses, holsters, and straps of his jumpsuit. Itâs been burnt in some places, torn and bloodied.
âSorry, Space Pilot,â you say under your breath. âWhen you wake up, just remember that itâs not the first time Iâve seen you in your underwear.âÂ

(ps I've been really lazy with the pics lately i promise i will try and put more effort in later i just dont have the energy to actually make them rn lol)
Summary: Kai, Jay, and Cole are playing video games before dinner, but Kai is celebrating his victory a little too early.
Word Count: 1.1k (under the cut)
âGah! Nonono, Iâm on my last life! Urgh, Kai, leave me alone!! Go after Cole!â
âDonât throw me under the bus!â
Kai laughed as Jay and Cole panicked on either side of him while the three of them played video games. They were playing a versus battle, and Kai was currently beating them with ease. Jay screeched when Kai threw an item at him, which he managed to dodge as he shoved Kai with his shoulder.
âThereâs no way youâre playing fair! I swear Cole knocked you off the map a while ago!â
Kai shrugged. âI picked up an extra life.â
âThey have those?!â Cole exclaimed, making Kai snort.
Zane walked by the game room, peeking in. He had been working on dinner, but left Lloyd to stir the pot while he grabbed a few things. He stopped for a moment to examine the current state of the game. âWhatâs all the commotion?â
âKaiâs cheating!!â Jay and Cole shouted in unison.
âAm not! Iâm just better at this game than you guys are!â
Zane raised an eyebrow, stepping into the room and looking at the screen. âHe still has all his lives, but both of you are down to one. Seems like a predicament.â
âWow, thanks for that info, Zane! Itâs not like Iâm already â NO! Cole, back me up!â
Zane hummed, stepping out into the hall to glance into the kitchen. Lloyd was still standing on the stool, stirring the pot. He pulled the spoon out of the pot and gave it a little taste, quickly pulling it away as he fanned his tongue. Zane chuckled.
Before going back to the kitchen, he wanted to even the score a little bit. Kai was already gloating about how he was going to win when Zane crept up and knelt behind him.Â
Kai continued to gloat as Zane slowly reached his hands out, being rather sneaky before finally squeezing Kaiâs hips.
Kai shrieked, falling back into Zaneâs lap in surprise as he immediately broke into giggles. The game was suddenly put on hold as Jay and Cole turned their heads slightly to witness the scene.
âZahahahahane!! What the heheheheck? Leave me alohohohone!â Kai laughed, squirming as he used one hand to swat at Zane, still trying to play the game as he held his controller in his other hand.
âIâm helping even out the score. If youâre cheating, itâs hardly fair if you win,â Zane said simply, giving Cole and Jay a quick wink. They were quick to take the hint, resuming the game.
âItâs nohohohot fair if youâre tihihickling mehehehe! Gahâ! I wahahahas winning!â
Zane rolled his eyes, chuckling slightly as Kai squealed. Zane moved his hands upwards, digging under Kaiâs arms as he hollered, dropping his controller in an attempt to protect himself.
âGuhuhuhuys!! Hehehehelp me, plehehehease!â
Coleâs eyes darted to Kai for a moment before going back to the screen. Jay didnât even bother sparing Kai a glance, all his focus being put on the game. Kai squirmed as Zane continued to tickle him, not giving him a break as Jay and Cole knocked Kaiâs character around in the game.
After a few moments, the game was won. Cole had let Jay finish his character off after they both knocked out Kai, and the final results were displayed. Kai was dead last, and only after Jay and Cole started cheering did Zane cease his tickles.
âThat was so mean, Zane! I was totally gonna beat them!â
Zane only shrugged, patting Kaiâs back before getting up. âMaybe youâll win the next one. You guys probably have time for another round anyway, dinner wonât be ready for a little bit.â
Zane left and Kai grumbled in annoyance, picking up his controller to start a new game. Jay exchanged a quick glance with Cole, who smirked.
âWhat did we bet on this game, Cole?â Jay asked, surprising Kai.
âWhatâŚ? We didnât bet anything! And Iâm not doing chores for a week!!â Kai quickly protested, not even waiting for Coleâs response.
âWe didnât bet chores, Kai. Donât you remember?â Cole snickered, setting his controller down. Kai raised an eyebrow.
âWas it babysitting duty with Lloyd? I did that yesterday!â
Jay put a hand on Kaiâs shoulder, a wide grin on his face when Kai looked at him. âIt wasnât that either. The bet was that whoever loses gets tickled!â
âTickled until dinner,â Cole added, making Jay snort.
Kai didnât even wait for Coleâs addition, he was already trying to run. Cole grabbed his ankle and Jay grabbed him around the waist. âNo way!! I didnât agree to this!â
âWell, maybe you didnât. But we just did! And you lost, soâŚâ Jay taunted.
Kai tried to wriggle away, but Jay managed to pin him down in his lap while Cole held his ankles. Kai laughed nervously, trying to plead with Jay and Cole.
âGuys, wait! Zane was just tickling me, this isnât fair! Itâs not my fault Iâm better at that game!!â
Cole put Kaiâs feet into an armlock as Kai tried to kick him off, shrieking when Jay dig into his ribs. âNohohohoho!! You guys, plehehehehease!!â
Kai threw his head back with a cackle when Cole started to scribble all over his soles. Kai tried to kick his feet around, flopping in Jayâs lap as the two of them laughed with Kai.
Jay pinched at Kaiâs hips, making him squeal and arch his back. He squirmed frantically on Jayâs lap, nearly falling off several times. Jay would pinch his left or right hip more if Kai was leaning the opposite way, making him jump right back into Jayâs lap.
âYou guhuhuhuys suck!! I didnât eheheheven do anything!â Kai whined, gasping when Cole began to squeeze his knees a bit as well. âNot theheHEHEHERE!!â
âNot here?â Cole chuckled, tugging Kaiâs ankles a bit to scribble under Kaiâs knees. He screeched and whined, tugging on his legs as Cole laughed. âHeâs really ticklish here, Jay!â
âIâmâ I cahahahanât!! Iâm gohohonna die!â
Jay chuckled. âPfft, youâre fine. Stop being dramatic.â
Jay clawed at his tummy while Cole went back to tickling his feet. Kai wailed, trying to push Jay away and kick Cole off. He squealed and cackled, pleading uselessly.
âDinner!â Zane called, but he could hardly be heard over Kaiâs screeching laughter. Jay and Cole didnât stop, even as Kai tried to point out that it was time for dinner.
âZAHAHahane! Hehehelp meee!!â Kai yelled. Zane did eventually walk in, chuckling at the sight as Kai got tickled to bits.
âGuys, dinner. You can tickle him more later,â Zane said. Cole and Jay finally stopped, giving Kai a chance to collect himself as he curled up, still giggling.
âYou guhuys are not tickling mehehe later!!â
Cole helped Kai up, poking him once to make him jump.
They sat down for dinner, Jay and Cole talking about how they had wiped the floor with Kai in the video game earlier. Kai was silent, grumbling as Lloyd laughed at Jay and Coleâs descriptions. Next time they played that game, Kai would likely be more humble.

~Conferences and Confessions~
headcanon|scenario|imagine|match-up|drabble
âPurple or black? Or maybe something green with a mix of Orange in there? What do you think? Tomoyasu? Skeptic are you listening to me right now?â You hear a deep sigh from the bedroom before complete silence. After placing your clothing options back on the door hook, you went into the bedroom to check on him. He was laying face down on the bed. âUhhh are you okay? You look a little drained but you literally took the day off from work yesterday so I canât imagine why.â You took a seat next to him and he muffled a groan into the pillow. You shrug and begin rubbing his back until he instantly sits up and stares at you through messy bangs. âI really donât want to go to this thing, yet every single year I have to do it just to keep up with appearances. I despise half of the degenerates I work with. Theyâre incompetent bumbling idiots who donât know the difference between a hard drive and a floppy disk. The fact these fucking desk jockeys managed to weasel their way past the interview process is a feat on itâs own.âÂ
âHmmmmm, hey, at least I finally get to come with you this time right? Or would you rather have Hanabata as your plus one again?â You laugh at the way his face falls flat. âNo way, heâs the worst on these kind of things. Great at being social but once he hits the bar and starts pounding drinks then Iâm left with the responsibility of holding his hair back while he empties his stomach in the hotel toilet. Now hurry up and finish packing. Weâve got a long drive and itâs going to be a long weekend ahead of us. Oh and wear the black. It uh...it looks good on you.â He awkwardly complimented you before lumbering off somewhere else in the house to find his âgood laptopâ to pack for the trip. âYou gonna wear a fancy little fancy bowtie to the fancy little dinner, fancy little tech guy?â You tease him when you notice the suit in his suitcase. âWell itâs not exactly turtle neck attire. I usually try to dress nice so the C.E.O and investors see me in a positive light. Enjoy it while you can.â You nod at him with a smile.Â
The entire ride there was just fine if you exclude having to take over because Tomoyasuâs road rage reared itâs ugly head again. Still it was nice to have so much time connecting with each other and just relaxing on the way there. Itâs been a while since the two of you were able to catch-up with each other. The both of your work weeks have been hectic lately. The type of hectic where you barely have time to do anything around the house and chose to rest instead. Also the type of hectic where you needed to stop and eat out every night instead of making dinner at home for yourself like you used to. Maybe even the type of hectic where you both went to bed at different hours of the night and didnât end up coming over each others house like you usually do. The entire work retreat/conference was a perfect time to reconnect with your friend and coworker.
It was good you were there. At least to him, he was more pleased to have you as a fallback especially when it came to keeping up his friendly demeanor. He was able to talk all the shit he wanted with you and it really helped to blow off some of the steam. Really it would seem he was a little stressed about everything or perhaps awkward? Maybe he was a little nervous and didnât know how to tell you. It was your first time seeing him in this kind of environment and from what could be noticed by you, he wasnât as adjusted as you thought. You decided to shoot a quick text to Hanabata while heading back to the open bar of the conference room. Whereas you were asking him for advice, heâd surprised you with teasing words and emoji instead. Although you suppose you shouldnât be too surprised by him. It was always him and Chitose teasing or hinting at you and Skeptic being a thing. Its gotten to the point where even ReDestro himself will slip a little joke in there from time to time. Skeptic was cool and all, but there was no way in hell heâd had feelings for you right? The two of you were nothing more than close friends and coworkers who occasionally spent the night at each others places or went out to lunch, or watched a movie or...
âThen why did you get invited as his plus one this year instead of me hmmm?â
Trumpet texted a reply with a smirk emoji attached to the end of it. You huffed and put your phone away leaving him on read. The rest of the night couldnât come fast enough when Skeptic finally approached you at the bar and nodded at the large doors to the left. âLetâs go. Iâve talked enough or maybe too much. Iâm tired of conversing with these degenerates and I need a shower.â You nodded and placed your drink down before following him back up to the room. âTomorrow will be the big conference right? Like the meeting and whatnot to unveil some new stuff?â You asked once in the elevator. He nodded and kept his eyes trained on the numbers lighting up. Finally the 5 flashed on the screen indicating you reached your floor. Without further words the two of you headed down the hall and into the room. While you gathered some items to shower next, Skeptic was busy washing out his locks and trying to cleanse his mind. Unbeknownst to you, he was having a difficult time with his feelings all evening. After some time heâd come to a conclusion.
Confess now or never...

20 Questions for fic Writers!
Tagging myself via @lucky-bishop because I'm half bored, half a bit loopy on benadryl... And same suggestion; if anyone else wants to do this, say I tagged you <3
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 73?! Wow that surprised me.
2. Whatâs your total AO3 word count? 403,636
3. What fandoms do you write for? These days, mostly Teen Wolf, but I've written a lot for Merlin, Percy Jackson, BBC Sherlock, Gundam Wing, and assorted others over the years.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? 1. Acts of Man (Merlin/Arthur, Merlin): On the morning of their Annual pre-Christmas Dinner, Merlin is shocked to find out that Gwen thinks his boyfriend, Arthur, isn't good enough. But after a glimpse into Merlin's quirky flat, Gwen realizes that she might not have the whole story. 2. Nightmares (Jason/Percy, PJO): Percy feels lost and alone after returning from Tarartus. And if that's not bad enough, he can't sleep without having horrifying nightmares. Luckily for Percy, Jason is the one person not avoiding him, and the one person that has offered to help. 3. Looking for the Thing We Lost (Stiles/Peter, Teen Wolf): But the thing is that Stiles had already been forgotten by everyone. 4. Here I Am (Stuck in the Middle With You) (Jason/Percy, PJO): Percy and Jason's mission gets derailed when they find themselves trapped in a room with no way out. Luckily, they find a way to pass the time⌠5. Know How A Man Becomes a Beast (Stiles/Peter, Teen Wolf): Peter took a steadying breath and stepped into room. He held up his hands and walked forward slowly, the way he would approach any wild animal. âStiles. Itâs gonna be ok.â
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Yes, I try to, even it take a while -- at least on my newer fics. I haven't gone back to things from like 10 years ago to reply to old comments that I missed, but I try to keep up. I want people to know I appreciate the time they've taken to read and react to my fic, and you never know if you're going to connect with someone new and make a new fandom friend.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Give Me Pure Energy (Stiles/Peter): the alternative season 2 where Stiles craves some normalcy and befriends a new kid in his econ class, only to realize that maybe they both want more from each other than just a simple friendship. This is a super darkfic anyway, and has the kind of ending that's happy only if you're ok with all the awful things that Peter does during the fic... but generally, I like my angst with a happy ending so this is the best I can do.
7. Whatâs the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Oh gosh, so many of my fics have happy endings... that's how I like em... uhhh. I'm going to go with one of my all time favorites:
Stuck Between Stations (Stiles/Peter): the one where Peter and Stiles are stuck in a time-loop inside The Wild Hunt.
8. Do you get hate on fics? I have been so lucky to not get much hate. If people are talking about my work behind my back, it's not getting back to me. And aside from an odd comment or two, I've gotten through about 20 years of fandom without having to deal with random hate.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? yes. I've written m/m, m/f, f/f, and, I think an m/m/f once... but I'm into all sorts of things and have fun writing about it
10. Do you write crossovers? Whatâs the craziest one youâve written? I have in the past; a Harry Potter/BBC Sherlock x-over that got abandoned. I've also done a few prompt challenges that lead to crossovers/fusions like SPN meets MJN Air, etc.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? god, I hope not!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes, I have been so lucky to have a few of my fics translated into different languages. It's always such an honor, and I give full permission for people to translate my work as long as they connect it back to mine on AO3.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? I have but it's been ages. And I think there may be someone *cough*@punchedbymarkesmith*cough* that would be great to collaborate with if an opportunity presented itself...
14. Whatâs your all time favorite ship? Steter it would seem. I've been reading and writing it since 2016...!
15. Whatâs a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I fully intend to finish It's Only Forever, but I've used some of the ideas for it in other things, so I know it will be hard to get back into where I was going with it. I don't want to abandon it, but it's been a few years... le sigh.
16. What are your writing strengths? I think I'm pretty good with dialogue, especially banter. I think I'm also great at taking a small detail from canon and using that to world build something different.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? Oh, that's easy: action and mystery. I really wish I could write a good casefic or mystery plot, and I just can't. I have to distract and misdirect at the end... I have to do the same with the action, too.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I don't trust myself. I might confer with someone who speaks that language if it was really needed, but I would probably do something like:
"Wow, I can't believe you survived that helicopter crash," he said in Spanish.
19. First fandom you wrote for? Gundam Wing, followed my Newsies and Harry Potter.
20. Favorite fic youâve written? I already gave a call out to Stuck Between Stations above, so I'm going to have to go with:
At This Truth We Have Arrived (Stiles/Peter): Five years after the death of Laura, Peter returns to Beacon Hills only to be confronted by the truth that the pack has moved on without him. But the fact that everything he once knew has changed isn't necessarily a bad thing; not when there is someone like Stiles who is so full of possibilities.
OR as my WIP notes for this fic say: "Peter is curious. They do something. Murder murder. Sex sex."

Realizing You Have Feelings for Elsbeth (Elsbeth x Reader)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/bd472428d048a3de633f7cf85708c390/f97a2d8173bad543-e4/s540x810/4b31a075c3683fff76f1bff76185467a5785da3f.jpg)
Word count: 966
Warnings: Lots of fluff, Elsbeth and reader give each other a forkful of food they ordered, probably out of chracter Kaya.
I worked a couple more cases with Elsbeth and Kaya, who seemed quite friendly, and started to get closer to them both.
We actually had a dinner planned tonight at this fancy restaurant. I dressed in my Sunday best, and drove to the restaurant, waiting for Elsbeth and Kaya to arrive. Eventually they did arrive, in the same car.
âHey there, you didnât have to drive here all by yourself! You could have asked one of us and we would have picked you up!â Elsbeth got out of the car and approached me, her arms open for a hug.
âOh, itâs no trouble really, I like long drives.â I hugged her briefly, giving a small smile.
âAlright, but if you ever need a ride anywhere, just let me know and Iâll be right there!â
âDuly noted!â I said, âHey, howâs it going Kaya?â
âItâs going good, Iâm just glad we could get a reservation for this restaurant.â It was the nicest restaurant in the city, so I was pretty happy about it too.
We went into the restaurant and got seated near the window.
I ordered spaghetti, and Elsbeth and Kaya ordered alfredo.
âSo, how are you Elsbeth?â I asked.
âIâm absolutely great, I canât wait to try the high end wine I just got! It made quite the dent in my budget, so I hope itâs worth it.â Elsbeth said.
âIâm doing alright too, I love spaghetti so Iâm definitely looking forward to eating some.â
âYouâll have to let me try some, and maybe Iâll let you try some of my alfredo.â Elsbeth offered.
âIâd love to!â The waiter brought us our food and we started to eat. As planned, I was about to get a bite of Elsbethâs alfredo.
âHere you go.â Elsbeth held up the forkful of pasta and I tilted my head, confused. She waved the fork at me, and I realized what was going on. I leaned forward and took a bite of the alfredo, feeling something strange in my stomach as I did so.
I figured I should do the same as she just did, so I held up a forkful of spaghetti, and she took a bite of it.
A thought crossed my mind for a second that she looked kind of cute while taking that bite, and realization dawned on me of what the feeling in my stomach was. I was flustered, a little lightheaded too. Something about this exchange just made my cheeks feel hot as I stared at Elsbeth, remembering all of the times that I had looked at her before in admiration of her appearance. Was I starting to like her?
Elsbeth looked up at me with a smile, and I averted my gaze, a little embarrassed that I was staring.
âYou know, your hair looks really nice right now. You styled it wonderfully.â Elizabeth patted my hands in my lap, gazing into my eyes. Her voice was a little lower, and I didnât know if she was flirting or not but I didnât want to embarrass myself so I just smiled bashfully and thanked her.
âSo, should we split the bill after weâre done or what?â Kaya interrupted us.
âOh yes, uh, we should, yeah.â I stammered out.
âAre you alright? You seem a bit off.â Kaya asked.
âYeah, just uhhh, remembered I have laundry at home that needs to be done.â I said.
âAh, no need to worry about that, we are having a nice time right now.â
âYep!â
âSo, what are you guys planning on doing this weekend?â Elsbeth asked us.
âHonestly, just staying in my house and reading. Maybe gardening a bit.â Kaya said.
âYeah, I guess I could catch up on some books that I need to read.â I explained.
âOooh, well Iâm gonna be exploring New York, looking at all the fun sights and stuff! I was wondering if anyone wants to come with me.â
âI just wanna relax, so I probably wonât be able to come with you.â Kaya said.
âAh, thatâs alright. What about you?â She turned to me.
âOh um, Iâd love to come with.â I said, my cheeks flushing. I was gonna go on a 1 on 1 trip with Elsbeth this weekend?
âAlright, itâs a date then!â Elsbeth grinned at me. My eyes widened at the wording and I stammered a bit.
âOh okay, yeah sounds good!â I didnât know if she was just saying that or if she actually wanted to go on a date with me. But I didnât question it, because I didnât want to misread things and possibly ruin things between us.
We finally finished our meal, and as we decided, we split the bill, and got up to leave.
âThat tiramisu was pretty good.â I said.
âI got the creme brulee, thatâs my favorite dessert.â Elsbeth replied, smiling as we walked to our cars. I was a bit disappointed that I didnât request to be picked up by Elsbeth, because now I wanted to drive home with her. But perhaps it was better that I didnât, in case I said something to mess things up.
âWell, Iâll see you this weekend, huh?â Elsbeth nudged me as we reached her car.
âYeah.â I said simply, my face turning a bit pink. I didnât know where these sudden feelings were coming from, maybe they were always here and I only realized them now. âIâll see you, Iâll even dress in my favorite outfit.
âI canât wait to see it! I bet itâs gonna look so good on you.â Elsbeth said earnestly.
âThank you! Have a nice day, you two!â I told her and Kaya.
âYou too.â Kaya replied, âI had lots of fun!â
I walked to my car and went home, in deep thought about Elsbeth the whole drive.

Chapter 1: Baptism
Chapter 1
Baptism
My palms were pouring sweat like I had fire hoses implanted in my pores. My heart was racing so fast it could put Secretariat to shame. My mouth felt dry, I wanted words to come out but they wouldnât.
âKai,â My fatherâs voice sputtered out from beside me, âis there a problem?â
âNo, Iâll say it, just-â
âYouâre baptized now, Kai. Canât just be freezing up when asked to say a prayer.â
My sister rolled her eyes, her plate of chicken curry steaming up her glasses as she waited on me, âcan you hurry up? Iâm starving.âÂ
I gulped, sat up straight and bowed my head. âDear Jehovah God in heaven, we come before you,â I huffed a quick sigh to relieve the swelling feeling in my chest. I hated this. Why did I have to do it at all? Why canât they say their own damn prayers?Â
âWe come before you,â I repeated, gave myself some time to come up with more words to sacrifice on the altar of my tongue before God, âto thank you for these meals you have provided us, and for the companionship you have provided us, and for, uhhh,â I stammered, gulped again. Dad cleared his throat intentionally, like he was trying to get me to remember something.
Oh yeah. I got baptized today.
âThank you for bringing me closer to you today, Jehovah, for, um,â I couldnât find the words. Thank you for baptizing me? Thank you for letting me get baptized? Thank you for letting me sign over my life to your earthly organization?
âFor being my shepherd, and guiding me to the waters in which I was baptized today. Amen.â
I looked up quickly, Loretta already had her fork in hand, her best friend Patricia was unfolding her roll of silverware right beside her. I looked to her side at a tall man, with the kindest brown eyes opening wide behind his black glasses.
He gave me a sweet smile. âThat was beautiful, Kai.â
âThank you.â I looked to my father, who was less impressed.
âWhen we get home, remind me to teach you how to say a proper prayer.â
Mom hushed him. âIt was his first time saying a prayer for a group, Tim.â She turned to me, a soft grin on her lips, âyou did great, sweetheart.â
âThanks Mom.â I slouched back down, started picking at my food.
I glanced at my dad who was obnoxiously staring at our waitress. She was helping another table, her body facing ours as she handed a fist-full of straws to some thirsty patrons. Dad tsked, he had clearly found something objectionable about her, he always did.
âThat little striped heart on her blouse, itâs the trans flag, isnât it?â
I looked at her, Alan turned around too out of curiosity. âYeah, blue, pink and white.â
âSo our waiter is a man masquerading as a woman? Lovely.â
âMaybe she's just showing support.â
âThe more you change your body, the more you disgrace God, Hezekiah. Nobody should support that.â
âHowâs everything going over here?â The waitress in question appeared before us, checking in with one of her hands holding a nearly empty pitcher of iced water.
âEverything is fantastic, thank you.â Alan smiled at her, showing human decency, something Dad couldnât afford regardless of the cost.
The older man suddenly raised his hand, and my heart sunk believing it to be the start of a confrontation. I was right.
âActually yes, could we get a basket of bread please?â
âRight away!â She walked off in the direction of the kitchen, and I gave dad a quizzical look.
âDad, why do you want more bread?â
âShhh, this is a chance to leave a witness, son.â
âOh God, Dad please, donât do what I think youâre gonna do.â
âWeâre Jehovahâs Witnesses, and we speak out in fearlessness, son.â
âDad, I just want to have a nice dinner with you guys, weâre supposed to be celebrating, not preaching to the public.â
âIf nobody knows weâre here on Jehovahâs behalf, then we may as well not be here at all, Kai.â
I turned to my mom, the slightly more level-headed one when it came to matters like these. âMom, stop him, please.â
She shook her head. âYouâre not actually going to do the bread thing to her, are you Tim?â
âMargret, itâs a fantastic analogy and it gets the point across. Ah, here he comes now.â
The waitress showed up with a brown woven basket full of freshly heated bread buns and cups of butter.
âWhatâs this?â Dad looked to her with mocking irateness. âI asked for bread!â
Her calm and professional demeanor quickly flashed into confusion. âIâm sorry?â
âWell this is clearly a basket full of steak!â
Her confusion only sunk more. âI beg your pardon?â
Dad grabbed one of the buns and held it up. âThis, itâs a big juicy steak, is it not?â
Her eyes were wide as dinner plates as she crossed her palms over one another and tried to comprehend the situation. She subtly shook her head.
âWhat is it, then, if itâs not steak?â
âItâs bread, sir.â
He smiled at her. âNow youâre getting it.â He put the bun back into the basket, âwhen we see something differently from what is true, we are right to be called out on it, correct?â
She seemed to be getting the point my dad was getting at. And she didnât look too flattered by it.
âIs this about my pin?â She shrugged the shoulder that housed the offending object, furrowed her brow as she waited for Dadâs response.
âJust remember this, God made you a man. Men are among the strongest and most intelligent of Godâs creatures. Women were meant to subject themselves to men. Why would you choose subjection if it is not what was meant for you?â
âI was born a woman.â She crossed her arms, her face flush with controlled anger. âI wear this pin in honor of my best friend. He died three years ago.â
She was nearly shaking, I could tell she wanted to slap him. Every part of me was wishing she would.
Instead though, she stifled a tear and walked away quickly, making a beeline for the bathroom before chatting with another waiter and pointing in our direction. Handing off the torch to someone who could handle our table, it seemed.
âDad, that was-â I wanted to say unbearable, embarrassing, stupid, hateful. Dad was too much of a narcissist to fill in the gap with something accurate.
âRight, right. Remember, son, we all make mistakes. What counts is having the bravery to speak up for whatâs right, whether itâs taken the right way or not.â
âYou made a woman cry for no reason.â
âBut Jehovah is smiling down, and a seed has therefore been planted.â
âTim, could we just eat out once without you trying to teach moral lessons to random civilians?â
âMargret, it is our duty to guide sheep towards Jehovah. No matter what that shepherding may look like in the moment. She could come to our Kingdom Hall one day and thank me for calling out her out from the darkness of her path and towards Jehovahâs guiding light.â
âIf thatâs what you wanna think, Tim, go ahead.â
âMom, you donât support what Dad did today, do you?â
She sighed, lifting up a pair of fluffy blue pajama pants out of the laundry basket beside her. âI donât approve, no. I donât like the way he goes about things like that. I think it does far more harm than good.â She dropped them to her lap, looking around for a moment to find the words. âBut, heâs my husband. Whether I approve of his antics or not, I have to support him. All I can do is give him a push in the right direction.â
âBut, being so harsh like that is bound to turn people away from us. From God, right?â
She breathed in harsh, knowing this was the millionth time in her life that she was facing scrutiny on Dadâs behalf. âIf that woman is actually one of Jehovahâs future sheep, sheâll find her way to him. Remember that everyone has free will, Kai.â
âBut if Jehovahâs sheep will always find him eventually, why do we witness at all?â
âWell, we witness to call the sheep towards God. Itâs their choice if they want to follow.â
âBut-â
âKai, itâs past your bedtime. Go get some sleep, alright?â She was talking to me, facing my direction and giving me the command. But I knew in reality, she was talking to herself.
Alanâs bedroom was always so immaculate compared to mine. Despite barely having room for his dresser, he had two simple bookshelves, one filled with JW literature, the other containing books of poetry and novels of the greats, Oscar Wilde, Edgar Alan Poe, Robert Frost, and dozens more.
Alan loved reading, especially poetry and short stories. He loved writing too. He held his own work in a little blue book on his desk that he wrote in during his free time, what little of it he gave himself.
I had always been tempted to take a peak inside and actually read the words of my best friend, but he never let me. Heâd always snatch the book away when he caught me being nosy, and heâd change the subject.
âSo howâs baptized life treating you, Kai?â
âDonât really know. Feels like nothingâs changed.â
âWell, you can pioneer now.â
âI know, I just, I thought it would be like being born again. I thought Iâd physically feel my old self shedding away when I rose up out of the water, that Iâd suddenly have the zeal and drive to do more for God.â
Alan shook his head. âI couldâve told you that wasnât going to happen. The change is gradual, not immediate.â
âIt was immediate for Jesus!â
âJesus was a perfect manifestation of Godâs love for mankind, not a teenager from Greenville.â
âGood point. Well, least I got baptized at all, I was starting to think itâd never happen.â
Alan chuckled in his year-older wisdom. âYouâre only 18. Jesus was in his 30s!â
âWell, you got baptized at 11. Dad always shoved that in my face, âyouâre such good friends and yet you donât even follow his example.ââ
âYou werenât ready. Every flower blooms in its own time. Your dad should know that, didnât he get baptized in his twenties?â
âWell yeah, but to him it was different, his side of the family is all agnostic. He wasnât raised a Witness, he said I should take advantage of the fact that I didnât have to go looking for the truth, that I was born into it so I had more time to dedicate to God.â
âYouâre still your own person though.â
âI donât know, am I? I feel like I didnât even do it for me. I feel like I just did it to get everyone off my back.â
âIf that were the case, Jehovah wouldnât have let you get baptized.â
I shrugged. âYou really believe that?â
âOf course. If you werenât sincere, the elders would have picked up on that. They would have told you to wait. Youâre here now, and youâre baptized, so that alone implies that you were ready for the plunge.â
âI donât know. If you can only get baptized when youâre ready, then why are there so many apostates?â
âWell, thatâs the worst thing about apostates, Kai. They were ready, they had the truth, and they had Godâs love. Then they allowed self-righteousness to bubble up within their hearts, they let Satan in. The Devil breeds his strongest warriors out of those who were once loyal to Jehovah. Itâs a reminder to guard our hearts with vigor.
âYouâre baptized now, Kai. You have to be careful, Satan is going to do his best to take you away. Temptations will soon latch onto you unlike anything youâve ever seen before.â
âHeh, and what temptations did Satan latch onto you when you got baptized?â
He blushed. âWell, youâre my best friend, so maybe itâs time I told you.â He grasped his own arm and nodded to the side, like it was extremely uncomfortable to even consider what he was about to tell me. âI, I struggle with homosexual tendencies.â
I blushed in return. Of all the things he could have told me, I really didnât expect that.
âYouâre gay?â
âNo!â He corrected quickly, nearly shouting it before vigorously shaking his head. âI struggle, yes, but I wonât accept the label. Iâm not gay. Iâm, Iâm straight with extra steps.â
âYeah, I mean, I think I get it. Iâve thought about other men too, before. Just never really thought it could be something Iâd struggle with. I barely even think about girls that way.â
âDonât let it in, Kai.â He shook his head. âI let it in, and itâs been eating me alive ever since. Thereâs not a day that goes by that I donât struggle with unclean thoughts about men. Never let that curiosity get the best of you.â
âWell, why is it wrong? Jesus really never talked about it.â
âJesus never talked about a lot of things, but that doesnât mean it isnât wrong. We shouldnât focus on what Jesus didnât say. Itâs been very clear since the dawn of man that homosexuality is wrong.â
âBut why is it wrong?â
âWell, the pieces donât fit. When men⌠do things⌠with each other, they have to go through a whole process. They have to decide whoâs going to pretend to be the woman, they have to have lubricant since their⌠entrances aren't meant to have anything go in there, they have to clean themselves out first so they donât cover their partner in fecal matter. Itâs disgusting, itâs a disgrace to Godâs perfect arrangement of intercourse.â
I nodded along, hoping he couldnât see through my ambivalence. Lovemaking being more messy or difficult just because it was between men didnât seem like a reason for it to be an undoubtable sin.
âWhat about love, though?â
âWhat about love?â
I shrugged. âWhat if two men are in love but they just donât have intercourse? Would that still be wrong?â
Alan raised his eyebrows. âWell, I donât,â he scratched at his neck, âI donât know.â
âIt could be possible, right?â
âBut love should lead to intimacy, thatâs how Jehovah intended things to be.â
âWell, how about this. A man and a woman, theyâre in love, theyâre married, but theyâve never slept together because theyâre both asexual. Thatâs not wrong in the slightest, right?â
âNo, of course not. But if they were to be intimate, they could, and thatâs what counts.â
âOkay, maybe the woman and the man are both disabled and canât be intimate. Specifics aside, it could happen, right? They canât be together that way.â
âJehovah would understand a situation like that, Iâm sure.â
âWell then, intimacy aside, what makes two men being in love wrong?â
Alan looked away, his features falling still. âI donât know.â
I felt bad. I had used my reasoning for wrongdoing. I had enlisted doubt in his mind, and as a result I was assisting Satan in corrupting my best friend.
âAlan, I donât mean to tear down your walls or anything I just, I wanna understand it too, and I never have.â
âThe bible is clear enough that I donât have to fully understand it to respect it. God says men should not lie with men, I have to obey that.â He looked melancholy, like he was somehow hoping the opposite could make sense to him.
âRight. But, you could love a man.â
Alan smiled to himself and looked at me tenderly. âI already do.â
Automatically assuming he meant his brotherly love for me, I smiled in return and went to put a hand on his shoulder. But then he looked up.
âThree men, actually. Jehovah, Jesus,â he opened his mouth, then turned back to me, âand you.â
Well, at least I was included.
Mornings in my home were rapid and unwavering. Monday through Friday, Dad would be getting ready for work while Mom prepared for taking the remainder of our family, namely me and Lorretta, out in service.
Regardless, we began every morning with the daily text before we scuttled away from the dining room table, Lorrie and I would bicker about who got to take a shower first and Mom would retreat to the bedroom to finish picking service clothes and say her private morning prayer. She told me it helped her wind her emotions down before the day began, and I believed her. Every day sheâd walk out of the bedroom fresh as a daisy with a pleasant smile on her face.
I wished prayer had that effect on me. I figured it was something that would come with age, a result of getting to know Jehovah over a multitude of years. I thought that maybe now that I was baptized, praying would start affecting me more.
I tried it that morning once I finally got into the shower, a private prayer, nobody but me and God and the pitter patter of water falling from the shower.
When I finished, I opened my eyes, andâŚ
Nothing.
It will happen, I reassured myself. Eventually it would fall into place. Eventually my eyes would open up and Iâd see what exactly I got baptized for, I had complete faith in that fact.
And until I could find joy in the mere act of walking into a Kingdom Hall before field service, I could at least find joy in seeing Alan there, waving at me, ready to take on the day together as we knocked on doors and performed our deliveries of spiritual food.
Alan was smart, incredibly smart. He was the most put together and brainy person I knew. While more than half of his brilliant mind was filled with Jehovahâs Witness exclusive biblical lore, scriptures, and a bible based sense of right and wrong, the remainder of his brain power would often bewilder and dazzle me.
In particular, his uncanny talent for gaming.
For a guy who didnât give himself much free time, Alan had this ability to pick up and master almost any videogame instantly.
A couple seconds of watching someone on an arcade machine later, heâd step up for his turn and fuse to the controls, his nimble fingers testing each button and knob a handful of times before pressing play and blowing the fellow patrons away. Racking up scores so fast and with such ease youâd swear he was a cyborg designed for mastering the digital art.
I canât even describe the rush Iâd get from watching him, something about witnessing a man in his element, distraction free, his eyes dancing across the screen rapidly, open and inhaling information like a computer. His fingers tapping, clicking, swiftly knocking around and about as though they had minds of their own and jobs they knew how to do by heart. All while his body stayed perfectly still, a suit on, separating his elegant, formal figure from the rest of the arcade-goers around us.
That suit was a constant reminder of the reality of our lives, we werenât just two teenage boys out at the mall having fun on the weekend. We were two spiritual brothers who got dropped off at the mall after going in field service for the whole morning with Alanâs family, waiting for my mom to reunite with me, pick us up and take us home.
It was a routine we had down pat, but field service meant formal wear, and thus, my reminder.
Alan rocked it though. His tall stature only added to the elegance of his outfit, his black wavy hair perfectly framed his face and his dark brown rimmed glasses gave him not only an air of intelligence but one of melancholy and mystery as well. One look at him and his savant-like skill with his fingers and youâd instantly want to know more about him.
After all, if there were ever a man who I could see myself falling for, it would be Alan.

hell , oh. everything is fine and today was good.
i got dressed really nice today, because i had to do an interview for a local magazine, about how i dress and my music and how my sense of fashion/beliefs about fashion and my approach to music are related. their relation is weird, it's sort of just that i get dressed how i do to enable myself i think, like if i feel pretty and cool, and externalize what i think is pretty and cool, i can do other things, or i don't know, that's only part of it. they took pics of me, my friend did the interview, and one of the people working at the mag came to do the photos. i think i might look good in them, i didn't really look. i did take my own photos around where we took pics, they had me in nature a lot, and i took my photos standing in weird places no one really wants to go.

plus there are selfies i took w/ my phone but i can like upload those tomorrow. it's honestly such an actual hassle to get photos off your phone it is so stupid. at least if you have an iphone. it makes you feel useless and dumb so often, a debilitating piece of hardware to own if you interface with computers a lot.
so, uhhh, i like the makeup i did a lot today, the eyeshadow is really fun i think. i just told my friend that i like the locust and the blood brothers a lot, and i mentioned pg. 99, i should have brought up usurp synapse and combatwoundedveteran too, and like, everything else, but it would have been so annoying of me and like who cares, i just want to be accurate i guess even though that's pointless.
anyways my gf is out rn at a bar with colleagues from school, and tomorrow we're going to an anime con, i wonder what i'll wear tomorrow. hopefully i can hack something together for that.
anyways i am just sitting here listening to the cramps, not doing much, practicing a song sort of for when i can go in and record the vocals i wrote today, i mixed the next single some more, i need to get to the b side but i think tomorrow i'll be able to decide if i want to throw something into the right channel during verses on the song or if that would distract too much from the left channel guitar thingy. there already is a right channel thing but maybe there needs to be a little more, something following the riff that's played in the left, but idk, it'd have to be quiet and not too sharp or anything, just something to fill out the song better, but i wanna decide if that's even necessary, the song's a little imbalanced but that's how i can get so much sparkle out of the guitar thing on the left side i think, but i am still unsure. the plus of having something else there would be it'd probably sound kinda good, especially if it were sitting lower in the freq range and i cut out the high end more or less.
practicing the vocals just to get timing right is nice, it makes things feel like i can do better, typically since my gf is always around, i just mouth the words and try to feel things out that way, this is obviously a lot better, since i can do whatever and not commit to delivery style (i already know thought this song is gonna have a lot of screaming). hopefully this really does stick, these next few nights i will have to just mouth it probably unless she goes out another time alone.
so now i am sleepy, a strangely long day, i still have not been able to get around to taking care of the chicken and prepping dinner for whatever nights i am cooking which is frustrating and i am too exhausted today for it. like, so frustrating seriously, i need to get on top of that tomorrow. blehhhhhhhhh.
soooo, anywayyyyy:
byebye!!!!!!!!!!!!!

playing with fire (part 1)
word count: 23k
fluff, smut (warning: age gap, infidelity, roommateâs father)
(series masterlist)
âis there any other way you could pay?â the woman behind the desk asked, stout and soft spoken with sympathy in her eyes.
she probably has to have this conversation with students a lot, tell them that their tuition payment didnât go through or that theyâre not eligible for government support.
or that the athletics department needed more scholarship money, successfully rendering you, one of the many photography majors on campus, unable to pay for your last semester of college.
âa loan of some sort or another scholarship, maybe?â she tried to help, âi could send over an e-mail of ones you might be eligible for.â
you swallow the lump forming in your throat, attempting to calm all the anxiety and stress violently making its way through your body.
ây-yes, that would be great, thank you,â you barely manage to get out, hoping and praying to some unknown force above that you donât burst into tears.
you were nearing the end of the fall semester, the last fall semester you ever anticipated of having, when you found out just last week that you were no longer eligible for your scholarship.
in a short, curt e-mail explaining that, while you kept up your gpa and never strayed from the requirements, theyâve maxed out their amount of funding and are looking to use that money elsewhere.
âcan they do that!?â your best friend and roommate of four years yelps, gucci sunglasses atop her head as she stomps around your shared, off-campus apartment.
âthey canât seriously do that! youâve been a straight a student since you started and now they wanna take it away?! before your last semester of senior year?!â
âeunbi, itâs not ideal but iâve already come to terms with it,â you explain gently, leaving out the part where you did, in fact, have a break down right outside the bursar office only an hour ago. âiâll just save up money and come back in the fall to finish.â
âthatâs so not right or fair though!â she whines, something about the concept of not getting what she wants unfamiliar to your roommate.
you first met park eunbi during freshmen move in day, your two raggedy luggages and beat up backpacks an embarrassing contrast to the multiple louis vuitton travel bags she lunged in.
you were intimidated for all of three seconds, before she looked at you with a smile and threw her arms around you like a long lost best friend.
it was obvious she came from money, the way she spoke and carried herself so confidently before her parents came in and introduced themselves.
they were both gorgeous and tall and looked far too young to have an 18-year-old daughter, covered in fancy jewelry and expensive looking clothing.
her dad, who introduced himself as mr. park seonghwa, didnât seem to bat an eye at your more humble appearance. he reminded you a lot of eunbi, honest and genuine in the way he was kind and nonjudgemental.
mrs. park seemed nice enough, too, though you could see the judgement behind her pretty eyes.
the way she sneered at your bags and looked down at your hands, so different from her and her daughterâs not covered in diamond bracelets or acrylic nails.
âdid we just miss your parents?â she asked, her voice just as pretty and rich sounding as she appeared; you bet if she laughed, sheâd had have that melodic, care-free laugh all rich women seem to have.
âoh, uh, yeah, iâm sorry,â you apologized, lying through your teeth with a shy smile and averting gaze - you had to move in by yourself, the same way you traveled here all alone with no one to send you off.
âitâs okay, we just thought itâd be nice to meet them,â eunbiâs father interjects, the smile on his handsome face causing your stomach to swoop - how is he a dad?
âwe were gonna take eunbi to an early dinner before we left. do you wanna join us?â
âoh no, itâs okay, iâd hate to intru-â
âno, youâre coming, câmon!â your new roommate whined, grabbing your hand and pulling you toward the door. âweâll be able to get a lot of dessert out of them. probably the whole menu if we wanted.â
and you saw that over the years, eunbi knew she could, in fact, get whatever she wanted from her parents. they had the money and the means and the fondness in their hearts for their only daughter.
but it never seemed to get to your friend.
she was always kind and thoughtful of others and never said or did anything to suggest she was just a brainless, spoiled rich kid.
even in your guyâs second year when she found out you were going to school on an academic scholarship, she didnât care. she didnât turn her nose up or think you were lesser than her for not having the funds; if anything, it only made her praise you more.
that you were smart and ambitious enough to work under the strict guidelines of a prestigious scholarship.
âi know itâs not fair,â you mumble, not wanting to cry or have another anxiety attack over this matter. âbut it is what it is. iâll figure it out.â
she lets out a dejected, defeated sigh so uncharacteristic of the girl, plopping down on her pink, fluffy bed and bringing you down with her.
âweâll sell feet pics over winter break,â she concludes after a few minutes of silence, wrapping her arm around yours and curling her body into yours. âyou know how much money we can get from that? and we have pretty feet,â she says, sticking her leg up and wiggling her red, painted toes.
thereâs a little less tightness in your chest and a little heaviness lifted in your stomach as you let out a giggle, looking over at your best friend who truly got you through the last four years of school.
you really donât know how youâd still be functioning if it werenât for her.
âyouâre sick.â
âiâm serious,â she giggles out, flipping on her side and causing the bed to bounce under you. âyouâre still good with coming tomorrow, right? i told my parents you were.â
she had invited you to her house for the winter break this year, the girl not wanting you to spend a month alone in the apartment.
youâve shared with her how strained your relationship with your parents has been, really, since birth. never seeing eye to eye to them and feeling as if they never had your best interests at heart.
when most kids get full ride scholarships, their parents are immensely proud. bragging about how smart they are and telling them how proud they were.
but your parents were the opposite.
they didnât want you to up and leave them to pursue an education. they thought you were gonna stay with them forever, not go to college like them and help run the family business back home in your tiny little hometown.
it was your dream to go to college and get a degree, though, so thatâs exactly what you did for yourself; but they saw it as a giant fuck you.
saw it as you thinking you were better than them and basically told you to never come back if you thought you were so much smarter and better off without them.
so youâd spent every winter or summer vacation in the dorms, this year finally being the time you accepted eunbiâs invitation to stay over - reluctantly.
âi packed all my stuff, yeah,â you mumble, hands twisted into one another nervously. âbut... are you sure theyâre okay with it? i donât wanna intrude or be there if iâm not wanted.â
ây/n, please,â she whines, âmy mom may be a raging bitch but you know i make the rules in that house.â
âthatâs not what i meant,â you mutter immediately, looking to the girl with a small frown on your lips.
although it was no secret eunbiâs mom didnât ever seem too fond of you, always sneering at your off-brand items or questioning the logistics of why exactly you needed a scholarship to afford college, you always tried to remain polite.
smile at her and greet her happily even though there was always a thick, palpable tension between you two.
âoh but it is,â she chuckles out, the girl far too aware of what a materialistic snob her mother is. âitâs fine, i know sheâs a bitch. my dadâs just coming tomorrow anyway. i told him to bring one of the bigger cars so we can lay out in the back.â
you have to bite back a snarky comment about the fact there are multiple cars in question, though the look in your eye certainly gives it away. she can only giggle and shrug her shoulders, flopping onto her back as she tells you about how excited she is to be reunited with her boyfriend.
eunbi and jiwoon have been dating since their second year of high school, going to colleges only an hour away from each other; he was just as handsome as he was kind and good to her, leaving you with no other option but to love and support the both of them.
and you try to listen to her rambling that ensues, you really do, but your mind is swirling with some slight anxiety about staying with her family for a month.
you donât wanna make her mom even more irritated, deal with the side eyes and passive aggressive comments and overall feeling of just not being wanted.
you donât want eunbi to feel obligated to be with you 24/7, act as a cock block to her and her boyfriend who havenât seen each other in almost six weeks.
and maybe, you donât want your tiny, small, miniscule crush on mr. park to make you feel any more awkward than it does, wondering how a married man who has a daughter in college is still so handsome and alluring.
it also doesnât help that heâs just so incredibly kind, always making everyone feel so comfortable and welcomed, itâd be hard not to just develop a little, secret crush on him.
âeunbi, who is that sexy ass man who just dropped you off?â one of your suite mates asks your roommate, everyone gathering back in front of the dorm building after winter break.
it was sophomore year and you spent a month in the quiet, almost eerie college dorms alone (apart from the ra down the hall). you were grateful for everyone to return, no matter how loud or catty things were about to become.
âyeah, for real. is that your new boyfriend? heâs hotter than the last one and i didnât even think that was possible.â
âuhhh.. no,â eunbi says, shooting the crowd of girls with lustful eyes and curious glances a look of distaste. âthatâs my dad.â
and thatâs when a chorus of disbelief and inappropriate comments erupted from the group of college girls.
asking how a dad could look like that while hoping and praying heâs single.
inquiring about just how much her dadâs on campus and whenâs the next time heâs gonna pick her up.
about how heâs definitely hotter than her boyfriend, with a more mature and sophisticated look than these college boys.
âare they fucking serious! like how disgusting? heâs my literal father!â eunbi rages once in the dorm room, sharing a few curse words and vulgar phrases at the girlâs before stomping away from them.
âand for them to say that shit in front of me? did they think i want to hear that?â
âi know, that was so sick,â you agree, because even though you, too, think heâs attractive, itâs not something you would ever verbalize to your friend.
âlike... i know heâs younger than most dads, my parents had me when they were teenagers, but shit! how sick,â she rants, throwing down her heavy designer bags and flopping on her bed.
you can tell by the look on her face how much it truly bothers her, everyone always noticing her dad and making comments like that. she handles it well, sheâs always able to handle herself well, but it doesnât take away from the fact that itâs something that worries her.
people getting close to her to get to her dad, even if it was teachers or other moms in elementary school or her friends when she got to college.
itâs one of the many reasons you would never give away your little crush on him - because itâs not only inappropriate and uncomfortable for her to know but thereâs also no need to tell her.
because itâs not like it would go anywhere.
heâs a married man and your roommateâs father, a twisted, dark, forbidden fantasy that will stay in the walls of your head and never see the light of day - no matter how thrilling and fulfilling being with him would be.
âeunbi, your dadâs gonna be here soon,â you yell into your roommateâs doorway, met with the sound of her groaned âfive more minutes!â that youâve been hearing for the past twenty.
she was on facetime with jiwoon when you went to bed around one, briefly waking to the sound of her girlish screams or high-pitched giggles three hours later; you wouldnât be surprised if she only went to bed a few hours ago.
âyou said five more minutes thirty minutes ago,â you say, stomping your way over before smacking her over the head with a pillow. she lets out a loud sigh before swatting you away, your surprisingly fast reflexes grabbing her wrist.
she peeks one eye open as a smirk covers her morning face, looking from you all dressed up and ready in your pink pleated skirt and white thigh high stockings, down to her wrist in your hold.
âthat was kinda hot. and you look good. i donât know how to act right now.â
âshut up and get your ass out of bed,â you demand, biting back a smile as you storm out of her room.
youâd been pacing around the apartment ever since you woke up at seven a.m., more and more unsettled about staying over her house as the time drew closer.
you checked to make sure you had enough clothes and chargers and skincare products for nearly an hour, finally settling the same purple suitcase you moved in with freshmen year near the door.
you hope mrs. park doesnât notice, remembering the way she sneered at the wonky zipper and slightly stained bottom.
you also hope you can keep yourself in check, not get too nervous or flustered by eunbiâs exorbitant wealth or a new setting you donât feel welcomed in or her hot ass father whose bones you wanna jump.
the knock at the door completely sobers you, jumping in your spot just in time to see eunbi fly across the living room to get to the door. thereâs a big, happy smile on her face, ripping open the door and greeting her father in typical eunbi fashion.
âare those for me?â she asks, snatching the red box from his hands.
excitement bubbles inside the girl as she unveils twelve chocolate covered strawberries, a speciality at one of the local dessert shops just a few miles from her home.
âyou shouldnât have, dad, really. iâm much too tired to appreciate this.â
the man can only look at his daughter with a look of disdain and affection, waking up to an extremely passive aggressive text that sheâd really appreciate an early morning treat from her favorite place ever and that itâd really inspire her to be ready.
but as he can currently see, given the state of her hair and pajamas pants, it didnât at all act as a motivator.
âthen maybe i should just-â but upon her fatherâs hand reaching out to grab the box of strawberries, the girl brings it to her body and runs away, yelling that her bags are packed and sheâs just gonna wash her face.
he looks to you with a mock annoyed expression, your heart jumping in your chest as you send him a small, polite smile.
âhow do you deal with her, y/n?â he asks, a smirk on his face rising as you let out a soft, slightly forced giggle - this man looks too good for his own good at ten oâclock in the morning.
âdonât talk shit about me!â she yelps before you can even think to say something, a smile lighting up his face again before he nods his head down the hall.
âiâll bring down your girlâs bags,â he says, his tall, large frame coming toward you making your knees feel slightly wobbly.
you swear you see his eyes roam over you for the shortest of seconds, down to your shirt and exposed legs before back to your face, until heâs looking into your eyes questioningly.
totally not like someone who just checked out their daughterâs roommate - this is what you feared, your own delusionals and attraction making your crazy little brain see something thatâs not there.
âher bedroomâs down that hall?â
you resist the urge to swallow nervously, begging yourself to snap out of it and remind yourself you have to deal with the man for a month. a month of his dark, piercing eyes and bright, white smile and skin so smooth and clear, itâs far too easy to forget heâs almost forty years old.
âyeah,â you barely manage to get out. âi-i can help and bring down mine.â
âno, itâs okay,â he insists, âhelp in getting eunbi ready. you know sheâll delay us thirty more minutes.â
you let out another strained chuckle as you nod your head, finally letting out the breath youâve been holding when you hear his footsteps disappear down the hall and into her room.
as long as you distance yourself from him, not look him in the eye or let any sort of idea get in your head that an older, married man could want you back, this will be fine.
itâll be a nice, calm, relaxed break actually full of interaction and socialization opposed to your usual lonely bubble of solitude.
eunbiâs not making that very easy though, when twenty minutes later, sheâs opening the back door of her fatherâs black g-wagen and sprawling out on the black leather seats.
âwhereâs y/n supposed to go, eunbi?â seonghwa asked, the fatherly tone is his voice causing eunbi to let out a huff; the only time you see eunbiâs spoiled tendencies come out is around her father, the girl knowing heâll do anything and everything for her.
and apparently, so will you.
sitting in the front seat of her car, next to her extremely hot father youâre trying to stay calm around, while she sleeps soundly in the backseat - if she didnât invite to stay at her home, meals and bed and transportation free, youâd say she has to owe you.
âwas she up all night talking to jiwoon?â mr. park asked, the past few moments of silence just as comforting as they were terrifying. it felt awkward to you, extremely tense and full of suspense, but you knew it was completely normal.
you bite down on your lip, looking back at eunbi sleeping soundly on the seat, even prepared with a fuzzy white blanket. you let out a soft giggle when you see her mouth open, the slightest bit of drool hanging from her mouth and threatening to spill on the dark leather.
âshe mightâve been,â you mutter, a breathy laugh leaving her father that causes you to sneak a glance at him.
thereâs not a hint of a wrinkle or imperfection on his glowing skin, black hair hanging in his face and red lips quirked into a content smile. thatâs something you always noticed about him, despite his dark appearance and looming figure, he always appears to be happy.
smiles and laughs and never gives anyone without his same wealth a dirty glance - he treats everyone the same and thatâs another reason youâve taking a liking to him, not just because heâs the hottest man youâve ever seen in your life.
ây/n?â he asks, your intrusive thoughts being ripped away at the sound of his voice calling your name.
your eyes move to his and heâs watching you in slight amusement, a rampant blush creeping up on your cheeks at the way youâve been caught. youâre quick to look away, shake your head and let out an awkward chuckle and apology.
you miss the way his eyes roam your side profile, a delightful smirk and feeling in his chest blooming before he speaks again.
âhow was your semester?â
âit was good,â you say, hands placed nervously in your lap. âa lot of work on top of an internship but it was good.â
âand you girls are almost done,â he hums lowly, one hand atop the steering wheel while his eyes focus on the highway in front of him. âeunbiâs been talking about a combined graduation party since the moment you guys met.â
you let out a small laugh as you remember eunbiâs plan since your second semester of freshmen year, ignoring the twinge of sadness in your stomach.
you couldâve never anticipated delaying your college career when you first received your scholarship, happy and proud and eternally grateful for the opportunity.
but you suppose youâre lucky enough to have gotten this far, and delaying one last semester is nothing compared to people who never get to go to college - but it still makes you feel upset.
you think you have the right to feel disappointed and sad, the lingering sick feeling in your stomach making you feel nauseous.
âis it okay if i open the window for a second?â you mumble to mr. park, the man looking over your face.
he presses down on the passenger window button immediately, your face met with cold air as relief floods through your body.
âare you okay? do you get car sick?â he asks, remembering how much eunbi used to get car sick (on the rare occasion she wasnât passed out during a road trip).
ânot usually,â you mumble, resting your head on the side of the door.
then again, iâm not usually freaking out about making tuition money or repressing my violent attraction to my roommateâs father.
seonghwa watches as you close your eyes for a few moment, allowing the cold, windy air to hit your face. he couldnât help but notice the pinkish tint to your cheeks, suppressing the urge for his eyes and thoughts to wander.
youâre a college girl in the prime of her life and his daughterâs best friend, heâd be a fool to think you were blushing and nervous because of him - but he also doesnât remember you looking like.... this.
so pretty and dressed up and pink in the face as you check him out with a soft and curious look in your eye.
âmaybe try to take a nap,â he suggests, his gaze lingering back onto the road so he doesnât look at your exposed legs. âiâll pull off at a rest stop to get you ginger ale.â
âthatâs not necessary, mr. park,â your sweet voice says, something about it causing his insides to jump - he definitely doesnât remember you sounding like that. âiâll be okay. just need the window open for a little longer.â
you spend the next few minutes with the cold, december wind blowing through the car, your back pressed against the comfortable seat behind you. a chill runs through your body, goosebumps rising on your exposed thighs, but it feels better than the alternative.
potentially panicking or vomiting due to current stress of your life.
your gaze shifts to the man beside you, whether it be to check him out or ask if heâs cold unknown to you.
âare you okay with the-â
the words are stuck in your throat when you see his eyes arenât on the road but your exposed, goose-bumpy thighs, the white lace of your thigh high stockings and pink skirt leaving little to the imagination.
you wish you could see the look in his eye, if itâs judgemental and shameful or full of lust and curiosity. if heâs wondering what you have on just a few inches under your skirt and if thatâs something he even thinks about.
or maybe heâs just looking because itâs there - your skirt blowing in the wind and him caught off guard by the sight right there in his passenger seat.
âum, i think iâm good now,â you mumble, watching from your peripheral as he shifts in his seat and tightens his hold on the steering wheel.
âalright, let me know if you wanna stop.â
you bite down on your lip as you nod your head, keeping your eyes on the view in front of you.
the faint sounds of eunbi snoring behind you act as a way to ground you, remind you that these thoughts and feelings youâre having canât stay.
maybe you have to get it our of your system now, take all the looks you can and feel all the hopefulness your delusional brain needs until you act as if eunbiâs father is a mean, disgusting, grotesque man.
not someone who gets your heart and body pounding.
youâre not sure how many songs play on the radio until you both are talking again, seonghwa looking in the rearview mirror to see his daughter still passed out on the seats.
âdo you think sheâll sleep the whole time?â
he hope for his sake, she doesnât.
you look back at eunbi sleeping soundly, the drool previously trickling down her mouth successfully making a pool on the black leather.
âprobably,â you chuckle out lightly. âi have a feeling she went to bed around six.â
âshit,â he laughs out, remembering the days he used to be able to pull all nighters in college or dreaded the idea of waking up in the morning. âi canât remember the last time i was able to stay up past one.â
âyouâre not even that old, mr. park,â you tease, not sure where you got the balls to say that and feeling, at least for a few seconds, that you overstepped; but then he lets out a deep, amused chuckle and it causes butterflies to erupt in your stomach.
ânot that old, huh?â he quips, your tooth sinking into your lip at the tone of his voice. âyou know iâm turning 40 in a few months, right?â
you crane your neck to look at the man in the driverâs seat, swallowing thickly when you see his eyes are already on you. thereâs a certain type of lightness and teasing in them that youâve never seen before, the man always happy and jovial but never like this.
never looking so... teasing and playful.
âyeah,â you say with a growing smirk, not being able to help your own nervous excitement. âthat doesnât seem too bad.â
the deep, low chuckle that leaves him causes your stomach to swoop, eyes wide and the small smile on your face causing him to look over you once more.
itâs shameless and bold but neither of you seem to care in that moment.
âiâll keep that in mind,â he says, deep brown eyes piercing through yours before his face turns teasing and.. appropriate.. âthe next time eunbi tries to call me an old man or something.â
âright,â you chuckle out, cheeks burning and heart pounding as you allow yourself to break eye contact.
the ride to eunbiâs house is just over two hours, hoping and praying that it goes by quickly - because youâre not sure how much longer youâll be able to be alone, or mostly alone, with him.
youâre thinking too much into his words and his gaze and the way he makes you feel, making you silly enough to believe that, maybe, a part of him wants you too.
the second you arrived at eunbiâs, you had already felt unwelcomed.
not only because of mrs. park, who just about sneered at your presence in her exquisite home, but because of the dozens of other socialites in the immaculately white living room.
it looked and felt almost like a hospital. a white color scheme with black accents, extremely cold and spotless - the only bit of color was in eunbiâs room where it felt like you could actually breathe.
âiâm sorry, i told her not to throw her fucking gathering today,â eunbi complained, grumpy from her nap but still happy to finally be home.
âa bunch of stuck up snobs, i swear to god. they either have to get the stick lodged so far up their asshole removed or get dicked down by their lousy excuses of-â
âeunbi,â you hear her fatherâs deep voice reprimand, the girl not even feeling the slightest bit of shame or embarrassment for talking that way in front of her father.
âoh, câmon, dad, you know itâs true!â she whines in a whispered tone. âtheyâre the worst! and she knew me and y/n were coming today, do you really think that wasnât a coincidence?â
because, as far as eunbi thinks, she has sinking suspicions that her mom did this solely to make you uncomfortable.
she had already been hesitant to let you stay in the first place, had eunbi not gone full on bitch mode and stubbornly proclaimed sheâd spend the break with you at the apartment.
but you didnât have to know that.
âi donât care, itâll just be my first christmas without my family, mom, who cares about that,â she had said, all types of manipulative and toxic behavior that she learned from the best.
sheâs sure her mother was sweet and good at one point in her life, she wouldnât have ended up with her father in the first place if she wasnât, but money changes people.
wealth and greed and having the power to get anything you want because you flash a stack of money around or write out a check.
âi told her to have them out by dinner,â he said, his eyes moving from eunbi to you, standing there with tense shoulders and a shy, uncomfortable look on your face.
âyouâre more than welcomed here, y/n,â he said, his voice low and full of kindness as he stands in eunbiâs doorway. âdonât worry about it, okay?â
you resist the urge to pout at the touched feeling in your chest, looking from the man to eunbi whoâs nodding at her dadâs words.
âthank you, mr. park,â you say, a phrase he swears has never effected him this deeply.
and because of that, heâs quick to haul ass out of there. tells you guys that dinner will be ready around seven and to come down whenever.
you and eunbi spend that time in her room to unpack both of your things and watch movies, her king sized bed nearly lulling you to sleep until her loud squeal and bounce of the bed causes you to jump in shock.
ây/n, donât be mad at me please,â she whines directly in your face, all wide-eyed and cutesy as she looks at you with mock innocence.
âwhat did you do?â you mumble tiredly, pushing her away with the smallest of sneers.
âiâll be back for dinner, i promise, but... is it okay if i go to jiwoonâs for a little?â she asks, cocking her head to the side before shimming closer to you. âi have to get railed so bad.â
âjesus christ, eunbi,â you snort, pushing her away again and burying your face in the pillow - youâve never met someone who overshares as much as she does.
she plops down on her back with an unabashed giggle, popping right back up like an annoying little dog and looking at you with a smile.
âof course you can go, iâm not gonna hold you hostage here,â you say when she pulls your face away, looking at you so expectantly and sweetly, you couldnât say no if you wanted.
âokay, but i donât want you thinking that iâm gonna ditch you this whole time. iâm really not, y/n,â she pouts, knowing that was one of the reasons you were apprehensive about coming - that and her bitch of a mother. âi just miss him.â
a pout falls on your face as you look at eunbi and the genuine look on her face.
âbi, iâm serious, go. i want you to,â you insist, moving a piece of her tangled hair away from her face. âwe were just gonna be up here anyway. iâll probably take a nap, i was about to fall asleep before your loud ass-â
âthank you, thank you, thank you,â she says, pulling you into a tight hug before jumping off her bed and rushing toward her door. âiâll be back a lot more calm and happy. oh, why, you ask? because iâm about to get my back blown the fuck ou-â
you thank god for your impeccable aim, promptly whacking eunbi in the face with one of her pillows.
âget out of here,â you groan, eunbi throwing the pillow back with a smile on her face.
âsweet dreams, y/n!â
you let out a sigh when she closes her door, falling back onto her bed with a soft plop.
you were definitely tired from your anxious pacing this morning but arenât sure how much sleep youâre gonna get right now, tonight or for the rest of the month.
knowing that youâre unwelcomed by one person, extremely attracted to another and silently betraying the person you should be most loyal too - but as long as it just stays in your head, and you remind yourself that thereâs no way mr. park could feel anything back to you, itâll be fine.
youâll just get by quietly and smoothly at dinners or in passing through the hallways, enjoy eunbiâs comfortable king-sized bed and the fact that you donât have to spend yet another holiday alone.
reruns of drake and josh play in the background, keeping your giggles quiet as drake soaks his feet in lizard pee. you feel your eyes grow heavy the more episodes you watch, the shitty laugh track and loud, bickering brothers eventually lulling you to sleep.
it takes about five knocks on the door to eventually stir you, your eyes fluttering open to see mr parkâs figure in the doorway. you can only stare at the man as you adjust to him, taking in his tall, slim figure just a few feet away from you.
taking in the way his white shirt clings to his body, broad shoulders and slim torso on display in a way that makes you wish you could see, just for a second, what he looks like underneath that a-
âsorry if i woke you,â his deep voice hums, the slightest bit of amusement in his voice that causes your cheeks to warm. âi didnât think youâd be sleeping at seven p.m.â
âno, itâs okay,â you stammer out, sitting up in eunbiâs bed. âi... i donât even know when i fell asleep, to be honest.â
he looks at the screen to see drake and josh playing, a smirk pulling at his lips as his gaze shifts back to you.
âitâs funny,â you defend with a mumble, a deep chuckle leaving his mouth that causes butterflies to erupt in your stomach - heâs far too handsome, everything about him is just far too attractive, even in his laugh.
âthatâs what eunbi claims,â he says, remembering all the years of his daughter forcing him to watch ridiculous shows.
despite his daughterâs outgoing nature, she never had a lot of friends growing up.
there was once a small group of girls she hung out but they quickly drifted apart throughout high school, leaving eunbi really only with him and her boyfriend.
the boyfriend who seonghwa really didnât wanna like out of principal but seeing that the kid really does love his daughter quickly coming around.
âspeaking of, where is she? jiwoonâs?â
âyeah,â you tell him, settling back into the pillows and stretching your arms out in front of you. âshe said sheâd be back for dinner.â
âwell sheâs wrong, as usual, because dinnerâs ready,â he quips playfully, the smirk pulling at his lips causing you to smile back at him. you swallow nervously when his eyes roam over your face, your own gaze trained on him before you see his mouth start to move again.
âdo you want me to bring some up for you? or youâll come down?â
he can see the apprehension on your face immediately, fear crossing your eyes and your arms folding into each other uncomfortably. he tries to ignores the way your soft white sweater dips by your chest, a hint of perky cleavage just barely showing that causes his dick to twitch in his pants.
he doesnât know when this happened.
he didnât know when he became a pervy old man who checked out college girls with his wife just downstairs and the knowledge that youâre his daughterâs friend.
âiâll come down,â you say, surprising him just as he was about to insist he brings some up for you. âsheâll probably be back soon anyway.â
but five minutes pass by, then ten, then twenty and eunbiâs still not home - itâs just you, seonghwa and mrs. park at the long, glass dining room table.
white chairs with high backs and comfortable cushions to match the immaculate, hospital-like color scheme and environment; truthfully, youâve never been more terrified to eat a plate of chicken parmesan in your life.
the sound of utensils scraping on the china and the crackling of the fireplace a room over are the only noises heard throughout the home, mrs. park taking a swig of wine and gently placing it on the table with a light clack.
âso, y/n,â she finally says, breaking the tension with her rich-sounding, nasally voice. âhow has school been, dear? youâre an... art major, am i remembering that correctly?â
âuh, photography, yeah,â you smile tensely, trying to ignore the judgment in her voice.
âah, so you never switched over to business then,â she hums, her wine glass back in hand as her dark, gorgeous eyes look you over.
you bite the inside of your cheek as you feel a pink flush cover your face, faintly remembering your roommate saving you a few semesters ago when her mom was grilling you about picking a more practical and useful major.
âshe can do whatever she wants, mom,â eunbi eventually snapped, âwhether she does business or photography or even liberal arts is none of your business.â
âno,â you mutter out, dropping your gaze to look over the intricate pattern on the table. âi thought about it but it wasnât something i wanted.â
âso you didnât want something practical? or useful?â she asks, using those two words yet again while cocking her head to the side with a perfectly plucked eyebrow.
âa business degree wouldâve been great, y/n. everyone always has connections to somewhere, you couldâve found a job right out of college.â
you bite back the urge to tell her no. that not everyone has connections to multi billion dollar companies or numbers of ceos in their phones or the ceo of a tech company as their next door neighbors.
but instead, the same way eunbi defended you against her mother, seonghwa does against his wife. gives you a soft, sympathetic side eye before placing his larger hand on his wifeâs.
âthere are tons of jobs in photography too, honey,â seonghwa says, his voice so warm and soft and welcoming compared to hers even despite the slight edge in it.
âand she can travel to build her portfolio. itâs a fantastic opportunity to explore the world and make money. is there a particular type of photography youâd wanna do?â
you feel yourself relax slightly, a small smile on your face as you nod your head toward the striking couple.
âi would love to be a wedding photographer actually,â you mumble, a romantic at heart whoâs read and watched far too many novels and romcoms.
âtaking pictures of all those moments would be really fun, i think. like when the groom sees the bride for the first time or just everyone dancing and having fun. weddings are usually happy and i like to photography happy things.â
âthat sounds perfect for you then,â seonghwa smiles, his brown eyes lighting up and making you feel even more at ease.
âi think youâll do great, y/n. and you only have a semester left, right? maybe you and eunbi you could travel for the summer before you start your jobs.â
you ignore the swish of dread and anxiety in your stomach at the mention of next semester, instead choosing to smile softly and nod your head at the man.
âi think sheâd love that,â you giggle out, knowing damn well your roommate already has an extensive list of cities she wants to visit before âreal life begins.â
âand how do your parents feel about everything?â mrs. park asks, making your stomach twist with even more dread and discomfort. âare they proud?â
you wish you could fold in on yourself right now, swallowing the growing, nervous lump in your throat.
because not only is she making you incredibly uncomfortable right now, with her harsh looks and topic of conversation and snide little tone, she just mentioned the people you havenât spoken to since you left home at eighteen.
you donât know what to say, you have the slightest bit of concern you might throw up on her, when the loud, chipper voice of your roommate floats through the cold, silent house.
âiâm back!â her chipper voice yelps, sock-clad feet running through the house and sliding on the marble floor. âwhatâd you guys make?â
âyouâre late, eunbi,â seonghwa mumbles warningly, an innocent smile on her face as she picks up her plate of food and plops down next to you.
âam i? or are you girls just early?â
âiâm not a girl.â
âitâs a figure of speech, father,â eunbi says, smiling playfully at her father before turning to you.
sheâs able to tell the second she sees your face that youâre uncomfortable, the pink flush still lingering on your face and the tenseness of your shoulders making her frown.
âiâm sorry you were alone with them,â she whispers, genuine sorrow in her wide, mock-innocent eyes. âi got held up. or... down, rather, but i tried to leave on time. i promise.â
âuh huh, i bet,â you mumble back, fighting back a smile despite your discomfort.
because eunbi has always had something about her that made it impossible to stay mad at her, her carefree, unfiltered way of communicating that made being her friend so easy.
even if, sometimes, you wanted to kill her.
âso mom,â eunbi quips, turning her soft gaze to you before looking over her mother.
âwhat was with your little group of bitchy housewives today? you couldnât have had them over any other day? what kind of christmas disgrace is that?â
âeunbi...â seonghwa chastises lowly, the girl with her brow already quirked and eyes narrowed.
âi can do whatever i want in my home, eunbi. are you forgetting how things work around here?â
âhow could i, when iâm met with thirty middle-aged women with botox out the ass in my home the second i get back from school?â she asks, âyou didnât think me and y/n would wanna spend the break, like, resting?â
âyou ran off to your boyfriendâs the second you got here,â mrs. park bites back, her glass of wine empty as she pinches the bridge of her nose. âleft your friend all alone in your room. what did i tell you about leaving... guests unattended in the house?â
the accusation and direction of conversation is quickly making you feel uncomfortable, your head turned down in your lap and leaving your cheeks aflame.
sheâs making it sound like you would steal something in her home for christâs sake, like youâre not a guest whoâs dreaded coming here due to this very reason.
you block out the back and forth between eunbi and her mom, a few more seconds of yappy feminine voices before a deeply spoken âenough,â echoes through the dining room.
you even look up at the sound, watching as mr. parkâs eyes rest on you. his eyes narrow as he takes in the sight of your red cheeks, his gaze shifting from you to his daughter to his wife beside him.
ây/nâs here for a month and weâre gonna make her feel welcomed the entire time. if you two are gonna fight, donât do it at the dinner table.â
âbut dad, she totally-â
âmaybe you shouldâve taught your daughter-â
âno more,â seonghwa growls, a sense of finality in his tone that causes the room to go silent.
you can tell your friend is unbothered by the reprimanding, shoveling food into her mouth and sipping from her wine glass completely unbothered.
sometimes you wish you could be more like her, so unfazed by conflict or loud voices or the strained relationship with a parent.
eunbi was always open with you about the rocky relationship with her mother, saying more than once to you that if it werenât for her father, she wouldâve long cut off any contact with her.
she had never really been there for eunbi growing up, having nannies and chefs take care of her for most of her life - it was her nanny of fifteen years who taught her how to walk and talk, was there with her for all the milestones she met through infancy, childhood and even adolescence.
but even then, eunbi was nonchalant and carefree about it.
saying that sheâs not gonna waste her time being upset over it when she knows her mom doesnât think about her at all. it makes your heart hurt for eunbi, grateful that the girl at least has a good relationship with her father and boyfriend.
and you, of course. you consider her your best friend and you know she does the same - even if sometimes, you wanna pull her hair out.
âiâm gonna go the food store tomorrow, eunbi, so if you and y/n want anything, just text it to me.â
âoooh can we come!â she squeals, knocking her arm into yours like an excited kid in a candy store. âwe wanna try making our cookies again.â
âyouâre gonna bake?â the girlâs father asks, a look of doubt on his face that causes you to bite back a smile.
âno, weâre gonna bake,â she corrects with snark, ây/n measures the ingredients and stirs, i put it in the oven and watch.â
âright, silly me,â the man hums, a smirk pulling at his lips the more he sees his daughter get irritated. âbut of course you girls can come,â he says, his eyes flicking to you for just a few seconds too long.
you can only look back with a small smile, a quiet âthank you,â leaving your mouth that youâre positive he doesnât catch.
(he did).
you help clean your plate off before you and eunbi go up to her room later that night, once her doorâs closed and sheâs sitting down shooting her a look of disdain.
âi know youâre mad, okay, iâm sorry, i really am!â she whines, holding her arms out for you to come over. âi tried to leave but he wouldnât let me. he just kept wanting to-â
âi donât need the details you sick freak!â you yelp, going over and plopping down on her bed. âugh, it was just... so awkward. your mom hates me. she was utterly perturbed that i didnât switch my major to business.â
âugh, sheâs a crotchety bitch i swear,â eunbi says, falling onto her back and looking at you with sorrow in her eyes. âiâm sorry, i really am. i wonât leave you alone with her again, i promise.â
you quirk an unconvinced eyebrow her way, eyes full of doubt and distrust before she throws herself on you and squeals that, at least, now you can have a scary movie marathon without any interruptions.
it seems you also probably shouldâve made her promise last night that youâd never be alone with her father either; it didnât even occur to you at the time, not thinking that sheâd really ditch you two days in a row.
but alas, jiwoonâs car pulled up when all three of you were walking out of the house to the g-wagon for the trip to the food store, her shooting you an apologetic look and whispered condolences in your ear.
âiâm technically not breaking my promise because my dadâs nice,â she mumbled, the feeling in your body more nervous and aroused than it is angry and upset.
but she couldât know that.
âand when i break your head? then what, eunbi?â
âi love you,â she giggles in your ear, the playful tone of your voice letting her know she got off the hook again. âitâll be fine. my dadâs a good man. he wouldnât ever talk shit to you the way my mom does.â
little does she know how much you want her dad to talk shit to you.
talk to you in a way thatâs casual and playful and teasing, like the hints of it youâve seen in the car or in eunbiâs room when you were alone last night. you just want him to look at you with the slightest bit of something, even though itâs wrong.
not only because of his wife, no matter how big a bitch she is, but because of-
âdo you still wanna come with me?â
seonghwaâs voice pulls you away from your thoughts, looking to the man dressed in a long, black jacket and expensive loafers. he looks far too fancy and delectable for a trip to the grocery store.
eunbi is long gone by now, her giggles and carefree run down the driveway and into her boyfriendâs car leaving you and mr. park alone, with only the blue sky and crisp air as your witness.
him looking you over hopefully, with a twinge of teasing and longing in his gaze.
you looking at him full of nerves and excitement, biting down on your lip as you nod your head timidly.
âs-sure, if thatâs okay,â you say, looking from him to his car just a few feet away. âitâd be better than sitting in eunbiâs room again.â
a handsome smile crosses his face as he nods his head, heart pounding and throat constricting as you watch him walk toward the car.
he walks around the front of a smaller, sleek suv, your own eyes watching in confusion until he opens the passenger side door.
you can only stare blankly, head cocked to the side as you really start to wonder if this man is about to make you drive his car costing more than your life.
âare you getting in, y/n?â he asks, an amused smile pulling at his lips - almost like heâs making fun of your nervous, intimidated disposition.
you shake your head of the confusion, cheeks flushing in the cold december air as you do an awkward jog toward the car. you dip in beside him as your body hits the cool leather, craning your neck to shoot him a small, grateful smile.
your faces are closer than you anticipated, breath catching in your throat as his gaze watches you closely.
he doesnât say a word or move a muscle, taking a few moments for his eyes to roam your face and body before mumbling to buckle up.
you wish you knew how long the drive to the store would be, as it would slightly settle you and the thick, awkward tension in the air. it appears to be enough time for the heat to go on, warm air blowing from the vents before he asks if you want your seat heater on.
âoh, sure, thank you,â you mumble, a smile quirking on his lips as he presses down on the small circular button.
more silence lingers in the air as the trees outside you pass by, the bright winter sun and blue sky not making it feel like christmas is only a few days away.
you canât remember the last time the holidays have actually felt like it, though, Â all the lonely days blending into one and feeling as if they were the same.
maybe this year, because youâre surrounded by eunbi and her family, itâll feel less lonely. maybe youâll actually enjoy yourself and find that youâve missed out when you denied her invitation each and every-
âiâm sorry about my wife last night.â
those are words you donât expect so they shock you even more, looking at the older man beside you with a wide-eyed, confused gaze. his dark eyes are expressionless and casual on the road, one hand on the wheel while the other rests beside him.
âi... what do you mean?â you ask, knowing damn well you understand his apology - and given the unamused look he throws you, he knows youâre full of shit too.
âi donât think she means to judge you so harshly,â he begins, his deep, smooth voice full of sympathy and softness. âitâs not her place to question your education or major, so i just want to apologize for her.â
âthatâs not necessary, mr. park,â you insist, shaking your head as a small, breathy chuckle leaves you. âand itâs not like i havenât heard it before.â
because no one is ever too confident in any of the arts being your main source of income or profession; even your own parents, although it really wouldnât matter what you would have chosen, havenât been supportive.
and you especially havenât missed the looks of pity or distaste when you tell people on campus or at parties in the frat house, future business leaders or stem majors looking at you like just said the sky is hot pink. Â
âwell thatâs just ridiculous,â seonghwa says, ripping you from your thoughts so you can roam over his strong, handsome face. âitâs a great field to work in and something youâre passionate about. thatâs what matters most.â
he can tell by the way your cheeks flush that youâre slightly embarrassed and he canât help but find it endearing, licking over his lips as his mind begins to wander.
wonder about what other parts of you could flush so easily or what else he could say to really make the pinkness deepen.
âi guess,â you mutter, shrugging your shoulders as you look at the passing oak trees and mansions.
âand... what you said last night about traveling to build my portfolio,â you begin, shocked by the words continuing to leave your mouth. âthatâs something iâve thought about doing. i think itâd be really fun, regardless if i did wedding photographer or not.â
âyeah?â he asks, the smile on his face causing your head to jump. âi think thatâd be good, too. where would you wanna go first?â
your lips purse to the side as you think it over, a love for traveling anywhere you could but having an especially strong pull toward the tropics.
âcancun or the maldives,â you answer, the financial aspect of the trip leaving it most likely impossible for you. âitâll probably never happen, because iâd have to sell my first born, but iâve always wanted to go somewhere like that. somewhere tropical and fun.â
seonghwa bites his tongue about his multiple trips there, instead letting out a chuckle that causes butterflies to erupt. his eyes are too drawn to your body in the front seat, legs crossed and arms over your lap politely.
âyou never know,â he hums, ripping his gaze away before you catch his gawking. âyou might get there one day, after being the best wedding photographer the city has to offer.â
âoh, please,â you glggle out, cheeks flushing despite the absurdity of the comment.
you catch the smile that creeps on his face, the same handsome, carefree smile you saw in the car last time.
you try not to let it get to you, let your brain convince you that maybe he likes hanging out with you alone as much as you like it too.
âiâm serious,â he says, the earnest tone of his voice slipping into dad mode in a way he doesnât even realize. âyour parents must be proud.â
you bite down on your lip as you let out a soft, almost scornful, chuckle, a quietly mumbled âyeah,â leaving your mouth that causes his eyebrows to pull together.
he always thought it was a little suspicious that in the four years eunbi has known you, sheâs never told him about your parents; as far as he knows, sheâs never even seen them.
âshe has her scholarship and stuff so she doesnât really need them,â his daughter said one day, the two of them discussing why you were spending yet another break alone in the apartment.
âbut they donât want her home for the holidays? you told her she was welcomed, right?â
âugh, about a thousand times,â his daughter groans in the seat, throwing herself against the window dramatically. âi basically begged her, dad, but she said she didnât wanna intrude. iâm telling you itâs because mom is the biggest fucking-â
âeunbi...â
âyou know itâs true!â she squeals, seonghwa biting his tongue in an effort to be the bigger and better parent. âi donât even know why you guys got married.â
but thatâs what happens with teen pregnancies and rich families. how they were destined to marry anyway, due to their parents companies and stupid business politics.
it was one drunken night at his dadâs company party and a broken condom that sealed his fate with finality - made him go from a single, carefree high school student to a married businessman with a child just two short years later.
his wife was good at one point he likes to think, remembering she was gorgeous and sassy and not like the other girls who would drop to their knees for him.
but marriage and a child and just life quickly caught up with them, already trapped in a loveless, pointless marriage by the time he hit 25.
heâd be lying if he said he didnât stay for eunbi, that they both didnât stay for eunbi throughout her childhood and now just grew too used to being an unhappy married couple who live separate lives. Â
there was never any reason for them to divorce though, no one serious in his or his wifeâs lives and the hassle of money and disputing houses and cars and assets far too draining.
âi donât believe iâve ever met them,â seonghwa says, pulling into the store parking lot to see itâs less crowded than he suspected itâd be. âwhat do they do?â
you couldnât imagine anything more unbearable than disclosing to your friendâs hot dad who you may or may not have feelings for about the messed up relationship with your parents.
it just screams daddy issues, which might say a lot about your very attraction to him in the first place.
âthey run a little restaurant back in my home town. itâs about three hours from campus, which is why i donât really go home for breaks.â
seonghwa hums lowly, nodding his head as he looks at you at a stop sign.
youâre unnerved by the way his eyes roam you, like he can see signs of you being uncomfortable about your parents and wants to know why - but why would he care? youâre only his daughterâs roommate.
âdo you miss seeing them?â
you lick over your lips nervously, watching as his eyes darken every so slightly.
he watches each and every of your movements carefully, so in tune with your reactions and breaths you can just feel yourself getting more and more worked up.
not in the slightest, you wanna say. iâll probably never see them again and have no qualms about it, mr. park.
âi suppose,â you mutter, shrugging your shoulders as you apprehensively meet his gaze.
âyou suppose?â he asks, concern etched on his face. âwhen was the time youâve seen them? since your freshmen year?â
you avert your gaze as your teeth sink into your bottom lip, in no way wanting to have this discussion at ten a.m. when, much to your pleasure, an impatient car behind beeps at seonghwaâs mercedes.
his dark eyes move to the rearview mirror, narrowed and irritated in a way you canât help but think is sexy, before he puts his foot off the break and turns into the parking lot.
âi think this personâs leaving,â you mutter when you notice another car go in reverse, seonghwa snatching the spot before the impatient, crotchety lady behind him could steal it.
you canât help but smirk as seonghwa eyes her when you get out of the car, giving him a look thatâs half judgmental and half amused.
âwhat? she beeped at me.â
âarenât you supposed to be, like, an adult?â
he rolls his eyes as he takes a cart from the pile, nodding his head for you to go in front and âstop talking back to an elder.â
you canât help but smirk at his playfulness, taking your spot in the front and pretending as if you always move your hips this much when you walk casually; you wouldâve felt embarrassed, had you not turned around a few moments later to see his eyes already on you.
âwhere to first, mr. park?â
he has to bite back the groan threatening to leave his mouth, reminding himself to keep himself in check this month - starting tomorrow.
âdepends, y/n,â he hums, voice far too deep and sultry to be surrounded by innocent bystanders in the grocery store. âwhat do you want?â
words are caught in your throat and you can only stare dumbly, your plan quickly back firing as he appears to do the same - but itâs gotta be in your head, right?
regardless, it quickly humbles you in the form of a small, unsure shrug.
itâs how you two start walking up and down the aisles, seonghwa putting in what he remembers and items on his mental list while also insisting you put in anything you want.
your arms bump ever so often, softly apologizing and acknowledging it the first few times before you both realize it may be happening on purpose.
you stick close to him when the aisles get tight and crowded, his deep voice telling you to âgo ahead,â causing you to swallow shakily. you feel the presence of his hand just a few inches from your hips, lingering and hovering but never fully touching.
itâs finally when youâre in the bread aisle, seonghwa a few feet away talking to the man at the bakery counter, that you decide to put something in the cart.
you would usually never accept someoneâs offer to buy you something, already feeling bad about staying with them rent free and eating their meals without compensating.
but the brioche loaf brand is one of your favorites, only sold on occasion at the corner store near campus.
you press up on your tippy toes to grab the bag of bread, stretching your arm up with all your might. the plastic slips through your fingers just as youâre about to snatch it down, letting out an annoyed huff as you pulled down your sweater dress.
you mumble your annoyances before trying again, back on the tips of your toes with your arm raising when you feel a hand on the small of your back.
itâs large and warm and seeping through the thin material of your burgundy dress, a snappy protest about to leave your mouth when you catch mr. parkâs face in your peripheral.
thereâs a content look on his face as he takes the bag with ease, holding it above your head as his hand moves from your back to your waist with a gentle touch.
you look at him with wide eyes and a pounding heart, his hand on your waist so foreign and strange but... good. something you didnât even realize youâd been craving until it happened.
the strength and warmth of his hand, though if you think about it just enough, you can feel the weight of his wedding band through the fabric.
âis this what you wanted?â
his voice is deep and low as he speaks to you and you alone, your eyes raising to see him staring down at you. you canât make out the expression in them, just the darkness in his eyes and the frantic beating of your heart.
you canât even being to understand the context of his words right now because, yes, this is exactly what youâve wanted - but he doesnât know that, right?
âw-what?â
he canât help the smirk that crosses his face, all sorts of pride and satisfaction and arousal coursing through his veins at your current disposition.
âthe bread,â he says, stepping back and holding it out to you. âis this the one you wanted?â
your eyes narrow as you look at him, the smirk on his face, the amusement in his gaze, the playfulness thatâs radiating off him - is he fucking with you?
âoh... i... yes,â you finally say, coming to your senses and not allowing yourself to think this way anymore. âthatâs the one. i hope itâs okay.â
âof course,â he hums, placing the bread in the cart before going back to the front handles. âyou can get anything you want, i already told you that.â
you nod dumbly as you follow beside him, seonghwa picking more things off the shelves and muttering the list to himself as you try to get your shit together.
because yes, youâre attracted to him and yes, youâve found yourself alone with him for more than two days in a row and yes, thereâs been some lingering looks and touches but that doesnât mean anything.
you canât let your own deluded thoughts and desires get in the way of reality.
the reality that heâs your friend and roommateâs married father and youâre a college student. he doesnât want you just as much as you shouldnât want him so whatâs the problem here?
maybe itâs that youâre a 22-year-old woman whoâs only been on a handful of dates.
that the last time you made out with someone was when you were drunk and dared to kiss the first guy that walked through the bar (luckily, somewhat attractive and surprisingly polite).
that, maybe, youâre so horribly touch-starved and aching for affection, youâre trying to find it in a hot father figure whoâs just as kind as he sexy - and that, you think, is the second most tragic thing here.
because the first would absolutely be thinking that any of this, any of these stares or touches or coincidences of eunbi leaving you two alone, means something.
means that maybe this break is for you two is create an attraction and build some sort of bond and-
ây/n.â
youâre barely able to register seonghwaâs voice before his arm is wrapped around your waist, pulling your body into his taller one and having you pressed up right against him.
you were so lost in thought of him that you didnât see the older women skirting her cart around the aisle quickly, phone pressed to her ear as she yells to her husband about the christmas ham.
youâre not even sure if she shoots you a look of sorrow or utters any apology, too consumed and distracted by the feeling and proximity of mr. park.
his arm wrapped around you, your body pressed flush up against him, his neck craned down to look at you with a building... something in his eyes. playfulness and teasing but also something darker, something that makes your stomach swoop and renders you unable to move.
âare you always so clumsy and distracted?â he mumbles lowly, his deep voice quiet for only you two to hear - like he knows even in a sea of strangers, he has to keep these interactions quiet.
âwhat would you do if i wasnât here to help you, y/n?â
i wouldnât have been distracted in the first place, youâre tempted to say - but you certainly donât wanna open that can of worms, especially not in the middle of this grocery store with the way your heart is pounding.
âi... iâm sorry, i was distracted,â you mutter, playing up the damsel in distress just a little bit. âmy mistake, mr. park.â
he licks over his lips, swearing his name just being spoken has never effected him like this. he doesnât even know where this attraction came from, seeing you leave the dorm building yesterday morning and something in his body jumping at the sight of you.
maybe itâs just showing how unhappy he really is with his life, living day to day to just work. hang out with his friends and go to sleep alone - he doesnât remember the last time his wife touched him, looked at him like she wanted him or made any move to be with him.
he just knows that you showed up, looking so pretty and wide-eyed and coy, and is now about to lose his mind.
âitâs alright,â he says, hoping you donât hear the thick tension he hears in his own voice, like heâs some idiotic, hormonal young boy. âi think we only have a few more aisles left, anyway.â
he plucks the remaining items off the shelves before you both make your way to the self check-out, him scanning and you bagging because âeunbi says if my career as a photographer fails, i could be the best grocery bagger ever.â
âthatâs just because she puts the bread on the bottom,â seonghwa mutters, a smile on your face as you nod your head - she squished one too many of your brioche loafs before you realized bagging just wasnât for her.
your fingers graze ever so often, the coldness of his tips a stark contrast to your warmer ones.
a particularly big, bulk bag of vegetables proves to be a challenge for you, working through the packed bag with some difficulty. you let out an annoyed groan as you play a dangerous game of tetris, trying not to rip open the brown paper bag.
you finally get the box inside, a little bit prouder than you care to admit, when your precious brioche loaf is dropped right atop. you look up at seonghwa to see him already apologizing, your brow raised as you look at the older man in confusion.
did he think your hand was out? why would he just throw the food at you?
but itâs only when you feel a little more air than normal on your chest that you see what couldâve possibly caused the distraction, the white lace from your bra sticking out.
your cleavage in this dress was hidden for the most part, only becoming a little more obvious when you moved around or packed a shitload of groceries. it makes you bite back a smirk as you put two and two together, looking up to see his eyes still lingering over you.
two can play at this game mr. park.
âmr. park,â you begin, feigning a certain kind of innocence as you place your bread atop the other groceries and finally look up at him. âare you always so clumsy?â
it takes a few seconds for a smile to pull at his lips, the tick in his jaw not going unnoticed to you - so maybe this wasnât all in your head. maybe he wants you too... possibly.
âyouâre funny, y/n,â he mumbles, a smile pulling at your lips as he takes out his black card. âi guess i was distracted, too.â
you swallow the lump in your throat as you feel the slightest hint of arousal run through you, shaking it off and letting out a forced, girlish chuckle.
you pack the car a few minutes later without any lingering eyes or touches, seonghwa telling you about the meals they plan on cooking for christmas.
they usually donât make their own food for holidays but decided to have a more traditional set up for you and eunbiâs arrival - he also hasnât cooked a meal for his family in god knows how long.
âthatâll be great, thank you,â you tell him, clicking your seatbelt in as he backs out the spot. âiâm kind of a picky eater but iâll eat anything you guys provide me.â
âand you have the whole brioche loaf,â seonghwa says, a giggle leaving your mouth as you nod your head.
âtrue. itâs really good.â
âiâve never tried, perhaps youâd be willing to-â
his wifeâs name popping up on his car dashboard acts as a way to bring you back to reality, brings a certain kind of silence over the both of you for a few seconds.
like he wasnât just rubbing his body against yours and you werenât just flirting with him in the form of smirking lips and snarky comments.
you watch a twinge of annoyance behind seonghwaâs eyes, gaze roaming over the screen as if heâs in contemplation before muttering âone second.â
âhello?â
âwhere are you?â her voice snaps in annoyance, âi told you we had that board meeting at one.â
âand itâs only noon,â his deep voice mumbles, not matching her level of irritation but sounding a whole lot different than a few seconds ago. âme and y/n are coming back now.â
ây/n?â she spats, like itâs a disgusting piece of food she wouldnât dare put in her mouth. âwhat about eunbi?â
âshe went off with jiwoon before i could get her in the car.â
âso it was only you two?â she asks, the snide judgment and underlying tone in her voice causing your stomach to churn. âdid she ask you to buy a bunch of-â
âiâll be home in twenty and then be on my way over,â he says, cutting her off and hanging up before she can even get another word you.
your stomach churns and a sick feeling comes over you, her utter dislike and disdain for you causing you to bite your lip.
because not only does she not like you to be with her daughter, she doesnât want you with her husband (although, you suppose, you canât really blame her for that one).
âiâm sorry about that,â seonghwa winces, the silence lingering between you two heavy. âyou couldâve gotten anything you wanted, y/n. this is your christmas too. donât feel bad about anything, okay?â
you swallow the lump in your throat, your gaze moving to his as he stops at the red light.
your eyes lingering over his and his doing the very same, hand twitching to reach out and move the piece of hair from your slightly flushed face.
and there was something about the way you were both looking at each other, eyes so focused and unwavering and honest, that had you thinking maybe all of this wasnât in your heads.
but it didnât mean either of you could act on it - they were just... feelings of lust and wonder and all things forbidden, not seriously believing that a relationship like this could unfold right under the nose of his wife, his daughter and your roommate.
unless the pull was so desperate.
so overwhelming and all-consuming and present between the both of you, little moments couldnât help but happen.
strike one:
with none other than eunbi as a distraction, the girl promising she wasnât gonna leave you alone anymore, you were able to take your mind off everything.
the tension-filled, heart pounding moments with mr. park that felt just as wrong as they did right.
you spent a few nights going out with her, jiwoon and all of their high school friends, a surprisingly nice group of young adults who you got along well with.
they were loud and crazy and did far too many shots but they also seemed to be genuinely kind. even the boy who was flirting with you all night, handsome and tall with pretty dark eyes, acted as a good distraction.
grinding up against him as the music pounded throughout the bar, alcohol coursing through your veins allowing you to forget about the older man whoâs been living in your head for almost a week now.
âhow have i never met you before, y/n?â the boy mumbled lowly in your ear, your head against his shoulder carelessly.
but it was right there in that moment, him saying your name, that the moment was over.
because it just didnât sound like seonghwa, as delusional as that was.
it didnât get your heart racing or lips quirking the same way it did when you heard the older man say it. the smile attached to his handsome, mature face and the deep, lowly spoken tone that always held a hint of teasing and sincerity.
âbut danny really is so freakinâ nice!â eunbi squeals to you on christmas eve, the two of you in her immaculately white and modern kitchen prepping the chocolate chip cookie cough for tomorrow.
âand you two seemed to be getting along, i saw your ass all up on him.â
âeunbi, that wasnât me. that was the vodka. i donât know who that girl was.â
she throws her head back as a loud chuckle leaves her, telling you again that she warned you her snobby, rich little friends have been able to handle their liquor since middle school.
itâs how they cope, she had said, unloved kids with more money than god learning to deal with the world of limitless funds and minimal parental supervision.
âwell he hasnât stopped asking me about you, you know,â she hums, her eyebrows quirked suggestively as she mixes the bowl of ingredients lazily.
âand not just because of your newfound grinding skills, which by the way, are usually learned by the tenth grade.â
your eyes narrow at her comment, throwing a small ball of dough at her that she, impressively, catches in her mouth.
âhe really is just, like, so taken by you, y/n. seriously. i told him that youâre graduating this year with a degree in photography and he nearly came in his pants. he loves the artsy girls.â
âyou are so vile,â you snort out, shaking your head at the girl sitting criss-crossed on the counter. âand stop saying that. we both know iâm not graduating this year,â you mumble, her face falling pathetically.
âi told you weâre gonna find a way,â she whines lowly, looking at you with all kinds of sympathy and sadness in her eyes - she would offer to pay for you, if she didnât think you would smack her upside the head.
âoh and what? is my new boyfriend danny gonna do that for me?â
âin exchange for more grinding and a photoshoot, i think. do you want me to try?â
she lets out another giggle despite the way you pinch her leg, peeking inside the bowl with a surprising amount of pride.
"this looks good,â you mumble, swiping your finger to collect some of the chocolate dough.
âhey!â she whines brattily, thrusting a spoon toward your hand just a second too late. Â
âwhy are you whining in here like a child, eunbi?â seonghwa asks, walking through the entryway and the large, white island in the center. âwhat are you making? please donât burn the house down.â
âhaha dad, youâre so funny,â she mocks sarcastically, jumping down from the counter with her hands on her hips. âwhere are the baking sheets?â
a simple shrug from her father causes her to roll her eyes, grumbling about how she was really trying to avoid her bitch of a mother today. he holds back his smirk, about to reprimand her before sheâs out the kitchen and shouting for her mother upstairs.
itâs only you and seonghwa in the kitchen now, a heavy silence in the air as you stand there dumbly - bowl beside you, cookie dough adorning the top of your finger.
âwhat are you girls making?â he finally asks, his body moving closer and closer causing you to swallow.
âi... uh, cookie dough. for tomorrow,â you say, lifting your finger and wiggling the tip full of batter. âchocolate chip.â
his eyes move to your finger before grazing over your mouth, his tongue peeking out ever so slightly as he reminds himself to act right.
he hasnât been alone with you since that day at the food store, just seeing you in passing in the hallways or outside the house as you and eunbi went to and fro.
he hears your giggles at night and tired groans in the morning, quietly yelling at his daughter to wake up and get her ass out of bed.
and he knows itâs probably for the better, that you two donât find yourselves alone with each other, but he canât help but feel a rush of excitement right now.
you watch as he moves closer, with the same wide-eyed look youâve been giving him since he first saw you in your apartment weeks ago.
âahh, youâre making it from scratch? thatâs ambitious.â
âyeah, we googled a recipe,â you tell him, finger still beside you in the air.
you donât know what causes you to be so bold, maybe him attempting to carry out a normal conversation even though heâs looking at you with so much lust and desire, but you canât stop once you start.
âhowâs it taste?â he asks, his voice deep and slightly strained as he nods his head toward your finger.
you donât even bat an eye as you slip the tip of your finger in your mouth slowly, swirling your tongue around as you take up all the dough on your skin.
itâs sweeter than you originally thought itâd be but it tastes good nonetheless, keeping your eyes on him as you reamin as innocent and unassuming as possible.
âitâs good,â you say, dropping your finger like you didnât just make a show of licking and sucking it. âi like it better raw.â
you donât even realize your words until you see the fleeting look on his face, tongue swiping across his lip and eyes hardening. they roam you so slowly and darkly, you canât control the growing butterflies and swooping in your lower stomach.
âmm, me too,â he hums lowly, the hardening of his cock in his pants something he hasnât felt in forever. itâs taking everything in him to control himself, from his eyes popping out of his head to letting out the deepest of growls in the back of his throat.
âdo you want some?â you ask, cocking your head to the side questioningly.
he has to desperately hold on to his composure, not think about how easy itâd be to pin you against the cabinet right behind you. take just a few steps closer, have your back against the cold granite and let you feel just how much he wants some.
but he has to play it cool, push down these building desires and ignore your teasing because heâs almost fucking positive thatâs whatâs happening here.
âwant some what?â he asks, his voice lowering just a tad.
he hasnât played a game like this since college, watching as your eyes widen and brow quirks up.
but he sees thatâs exactly what it is when you turn around and face the bowl of cookie dough to him, a smile just as sweet as the cookies on your face.
âcookie dough. before we put them in the oven and possibly burn them.â
the breathy chuckle he lets out leaves your stomach in shambles, his tongue peeking out and poking the inside of his cheek causing a swooping sensation to flood through you.
but before he can even think to say anything, before your eyes can look over his body and make you feel even more warm and bothered, eunbi floats back in and fiddles in the cabinets for the baking sheets.
âthat woman is too much, i swear,â she grunts, whipping out the materials quickly before her head snaps to her father. âwhy are you still here?â
âi wanted some cookies. and to ensure y/n wonât allow you do burn down the kitchen.â
âit was one time, dad, and an accident. how many times do i have to defend myself in this house?â
you let out a giggle as you look from eunbi to seonghwa, your roommate turning her back to set up the practice baking session.
âletâs go bitch! i hope we didnât fuck this up.â
seonghwaâs eyes roam over you for a few more moments, his tongue swiping across his lips before, finally, leaving the kitchen with his dick hard as a rock.
strike two:
christmas consisted of successful cookies per your and eunbiâs homemade batch, passive aggressive comments from mrs. park about your degree and a whole fuck ton of sexual energy between you and seonghwa.
you could almost always feel when his gaze was boring into you, when you got up to take more mashed potatoes or kept your attention on eunbi as she told her parents about what job she wants to start at next semester. Â
itâs also when eunbi almost let it slip about your scholarships, had you not viciously pinched her arm and caused a pained cry to leave her mouth - if you ever thought jiwoon was gonna verbally assault you, it was certainly in that moment.
âwhy did you pinch me so hard?â she whined later that night, jiwoon passed out on the couch after five too many homemade cookies. âlook at my bruise.â
a genuine frown crosses your lips as you look at her arm, rubbing her skin gently as you mumble your soft spoken apologies.
âiâm sorry but i just... i didnât want your mom to know that,â you say back just as whiney and pathetic. âshe already thinks iâm an incompetent idiot. knowing i have to wait a whole year because iâm broke is just too embarrassing.â
itâs an admission that, while eunbi already suspected that, still makes her feel bad - it nearly makes her wanna cry, that you donât feel welcomed and loved in her home because her mom has to be a judgmental bitch.
ây/n...â
âbi, itâs fine, oh, my god do not cry right now,â you grumble, flicking her in the head lightly.
âi just feel bad,â she cries lowly, moving hrself closer to you and away from her boyfried. âitâs not fair, y/n. you worked so hard and now you have to wait. how could they do this to you?â
a small, touched smile crosses your face at eunbi as you shake your head, dabbing at her watery eyes.
if jiwoon wakes up, heâs literally gonna beat my ass,â you say, smiling when a wet giggle leaves eunbi; you donât want this time to be sad or upsetting. âi thought he was gonna hit me at dinner.â
âokay if heâs hitting anything, itâs gonna be my-â
âno. no, no, no.â
the snort that leaves her mouth doesnât help the sinking feeling in her stomach, looking at you with a frown still adorning her face.
âiâm sorry if my momâs making you feel uncomfortable. she does it to every single person ever and i donât-â
âitâs fine, please stop apologizing for her,â you say, the sinking reminder in the back of your mind that seonghwa had been doing the very same thing - apologizing for that woman.
âi know sheâs stressing you out, too. weâre in it together.â
âthatâs true,â she sighs, letting out a long, dramatic groan before resting her head on your shoulder. âiâm so bloated, i donât think iâm ever gonna be able to eat again.â
and it was funny that, days after the holiday, eunbi was still convinced that she was bloated from christmas dinner.
âbabe, i donât even think thatâs possible,â jiwoon consoled her, you and him sitting in her room as she gets ready to go down to the pool.
because, naturally, like everyone in this godforsaken rich town, they get ready to go to the pool thatâs inside of their homes; when eunbi told you to pack a bathing suit back at your apartment, you looked at her like she was insane.
until she clarified that her pool is heated and, conveniently, indoors.
âjust through the backyard,â she had said - and she truly meant it.
just a few yards away from the main deck area, with floor to ceiling glass windows that showcase the extravagant landscaping and, of course, the outdoor pool and jacuzzi just a few feet away.
âeunbi, this is insane,â you say, marveling at the sight before you.
âdonât you wish you came sooner?â she asks with a wink, your eyes rolling as you place down your towel.
you had the option to bring two bathing suits - a skimpy black one you donât remember being so scandalous or a red one you remember eunbi insisting you buy last summer.
and you just knew it was because danny was coming, currently showcasing his impressive eight pack that, truly, just doesnât do it for you - maybe if he was twenty years older, apparently, and somebodyâs father and husband.
you shake the thoughts out of your head, walking a few steps toward the pool before eunbi tackles you from behind. you both land with a loud splash, followed by the excited shouts and loud splashes of her other friends.
youâd be lying if you said you could remember the last time you had this much fun, splashing and giggling and acting so carefree despite the many challenges youâll have to face soon.
but thatâs not any of your concern right now, currently sitting atop dannyâs shoulders and trying to knock down eunbi in a game of chicken.
âyou little bitch! get your nails out of me!â
âcoming from the girl who literally just tried to choke me two seconds ago!â
âlike itâs your first time being choked!â
and you donât know whether jiwoon was shocked by you saying that statement or the fact that his girlfriend exposes all of her sexual kinks to you but alas, it did the trick in sealing you a victory.
a smug smile on your face as danny jumps up and down in excitement, your body bouncing and nearly falling over him had you not gripped onto his shoulders.
itâs at that time eunbi pops up from the water, hair a soaking mess and mascara running down her face. sheâs about to open her mouth, probably to yell at you, before a volleyball is thrown through the air and just misses her face.
instead, it hits danny square in the head. the boy letting out a yelp before you promptly fall backwards in the water, hearing eunbiâs shrill squeal and giggle on your way down.
you pop up and throw her a dirty look, danny rubbing at the back of his side before apologizing profusely.
âitâs okay,â you giggle out, about to say you shouldnât have been up there for so long before eunbiâs squealing in the air.
âdad, what the hell kind of aim was that!â
you feel your body stiffen before you quickly shoot around, none another than mr. park standing there looking as handsome as ever.
he puts the young men around you to shame, good-looking, muscular college boys who anyone in their right mind would find attractive - but they just donât beat him.
his striking eyes or tall, lean stature or the fact that heâs just so fucking-
âgot worse with age, bi, what can i say?â he chuckles, extra white fluffy towels in his hold that he places on the chair. âsorry, danny.â
seonghwaâs known danny for a few years now, one of jiwoonâs friends who seems... alright. not a bad guy but also not a good guy - just kind of there; but it didnât occur to the man just how much he was bothered by him until he saw you on his shoulders.
because he couldâve put you in danger, of course. put you in danger at his house where if things got bad, heâd be responsible; as for the ball, it merely slipped from his finger tips.
âno problem mr. park,â the kid smiles, the other friends gathering around and looking at him expectantly. âweâre gonna play a round of volleyball. you in?â
âno. no dads allowed,â eunbi whines, seonghwa rolling his eyes at his bratty adult daughter.
âwhy not? because iâm better than all of you, eunbi?â
âoh please,â she grumbles lowly, rolling her eyes and grabbing you to lead you toward the stairs. âyou know what, weâre going in the hot tub anyway. since she decided to rock my shit in chicken. enjoy my father traitors,â eunbi grumbles to jiwoon and his friends.
âi did not,â you protest weakly, feeling two pairs of eyes on you as you make your way out of the pool with your friend.
the first thing that strikes seonghwa, apart from the major twitch in his pants, is how skimpy your bikini is.
red bottoms with thin straps holding it up, a matching red top showcasing cleavage and beauty marks on your chest and all the things that are proving to drive him fucking crazy upon seeing you every day.
itâs taking everything in him to control the growing ache in his shorts, your eyes looking at him so coyly and attentively that youâre ignoring the college boy gawking at you right in front of him.
thereâs a certain sort of twisted pride in his chest, you giving him attention and seemingly reciprocating his interest, when thereâs someone younger right there for you.
younger and unmarried and more suitable for you. someone you can actually be with where it wouldnât be considered dirty or wrong or secretive; but maybe thatâs why youâre both drawn to it in the first place.
that, and because youâre both really hot.
âheâs literally hot, y/n! why donât you like him?â eunbi whines to you, the two of you sitting across from one another in the hot tub outside.
the december air is crisp but feels nice comapred to the steaming water youâre gratefully submerged in. anything to take you away from mr. park shirtless and wet in the pool right now.
âi do like him, bi,â you mutter, trying your best to convince her and now seem suspicious.
âokay, yeah, as a person but who cares about that!â she whines, flopping her hands dramatically in the water. âyou donât want him to rail you.â
âeunbi!â you squeak, splashing in her direction as a warm, embarrassed blush rises to your cheeks.
âiâm serious y/n. youâve never been railed before and dannyâs such a good option. heâs hot and heâs sweet and heâs so pathetically into you, itâs a little sick.â
you donât know what to say so you donât say anything, shooting her a look that screams can we please not talk about this because you donât know how much i actually wanna be railed by your father so letâs stop this discussion.
but she only rolls her eyes, moving herself closer to you so she can tug at your arm annoyingly.
âis he just not your type?â she questions, her eyebrows pulling together in confusion for a few moments before utter shock crosses her face.
âwait, what is your type? itâs... men, right? have i been hooking you up with the wrong gender this whole time?â she asks in disbelief, âcould we have been hooking up this whole time?â
you press your lips together so you donât burst out laughing, dryly replying âyes, eunbi, iâm into men.â
but the more you think about it, the more you think maybe you donât have a type.
âand iâve... never really thought about it before, to be honest. i just know iâm not into like... frat guys or whatever.â
because any party youâd been to, any douchey college guy wearing a backwards hat or cut off shirt, you had never been more disinterested. you couldnât ever picture yourself falling for someone like that, romantically or sexually.
the one time you remember thinking someone was hot was when you took film and lit with your 31-year-old professor.
âso older guys?â eunbi concludes after hearing that, a smirk on her face as she raises her eyebrows playfully. âwe gotta scope out some golf courses or retirement homes?â
âplease,â you scoff, a giggle leaving her mouth as she throws her head back gleefully.
âokay, really though, iâll tell danny youâre not interested and to stop trying so hard if youâre really not interested.â
but maybe danny as a distraction will be good.
will make you see that, perhaps, someone single and your own age and not your best friendâs father will be good thing for you to explore.
so you shrug lightheartedly, the smirk on your face causing eunbi to let out a low âoooh shit.â
you look over at her and your smile only widens when she knocks your shoulder, saying that youâre looking to be a play girl and drain a rich, lovesick man of some christmas presents.
âyeah, right! why drain a rich man when i can drain my best friend,â you tease, looking around her yard and still in astonishment that this is really her life. âi mean, two pools? is that really necessary?â
âthree actually. thereâs one behind the guest house on the other side. a small one. very humble.â
âoh, a small one, okay. great.â
she lets out another giggle, the two of you talking over plans for new years eve.
you might go up to jiwoonâs parents house in the mountains for the weekend, spend the time drinking with the small group of friends youâve come to genuinely like over these past few weeks.
âitâs only two hours away so it wonât be that bad either,â she says, getting up to shake the hot water off her arms. âiâll be right back, i have to pee.â
you nod your head, grateful she didnât piss in the pool and allowing yourself to sit there, eyes closed, body relaxed, in the silence.
you can hear the faint screams of the boys from the indoor pool area and the swish of the hot tub filter, peeking open your eyes when, suddenly, you think you hear a boom of thunder in the distance.
you watch the sky darkening and clouds coming in, signaling a storm is coming in soon and quick. a sigh leaves your mouth, enjoying your last few moments of peace before finally standing in the hot tub.
the crisp winter air blows and sends goosebumps up your arms, a shiver running through your body as you attempt to splash some hot water on your upper body.
you donât know how you know someoneâs watching you but you do, some sort of strange intuition within you looking up to see none other than mr. park standing a few feet away from the hot tub.
his dark hair is wet and hanging in his face, swimming trunks soaked and his exposed chest still dripping chlorine water.
you press your lips together as your eyes roam his chest, a hint of abs on his lean stomach that causes a small, strangled groan to leave your mouth - you will never understand how this man is pushing 40.
but the same way youâre looking at him, heâs looking at you.
water covering your body, currently hunched over trying to warm the rest of your body; but itâs when you stand he really starts to gawk, your figure standing full and tall and giving him a perfect view of your hardening nipples from the cold crisp air.
you can see the lust in his eyes the same way you know he can and youâre about to do something to just make him crack. mistakingly untie your bottoms, catching them at the last second so he thinks heâs about to get a peak.
or undo the back of your top and pout at him, ask him to please tie it back for you because itâs way too hard to reach behind and do it yourself.
or maybe youâll just drop to your knees right there, try to see if thereâs any hint of a bulge in his swimming trunk bottoms and-
his body is gone just as fast as he arrived, confusion covering your face before you shake your head of your perverted thoughts - dropping to your knees when his daughter and wife are right here, what the fuck is wrong with you today?
you blame eunbi, all her talk about getting railed when youâve been wanting to jump her fatherâs bones.
you carefully make your way out of the hot tub, not wanting to eat shit and scarp your leg on the concrete.
it feels like youâre about to freeze in the cold, another shiver wracking your body before you turn to stick your cold, goosebump-ridden arms back in the hot tub. it warms you for just a few seconds, a low, satisfied hum leaving your mouth before you hear footsteps coming up from behind you.
something in you tells you itâs him again.
whether it be the way your body heats up and feels prickly, the obvious feeling of eyes burning into your exposed back causing you to remain still and oblivious.
but you can longer remain oblivious a few seconds later, when a tall body is just a few inches away from completely pressing against you.
âyou forgot a towel,â is all he says, placing it on the wet rim of the hot tub.
when he leans forward to place the white towel down, heâs careful and meticulous with his movements. brushing up against you every so slightly and carefully that you can feel his hard bulge on your ass for a few seconds too long.
at first you think youâre crazy, feeling what you were trying to envision in your head, but then you absolutely know it thereâs.
you can feel the wetness from his bathing suit on your legs, his cock right there resting on the thin, red fabric of your bikini bottoms and if you were as weak as you felt inside, if he stayed there just a little bit longer, a moan wouldâve absolutely left your mouth.
if you pushed back just a little to feel more of his cock on you, grind your ass his hardness just enough to hear him let out a low groan or maybe curse a little.
but he moves away, almost like he knew the perfect amount of time before that happened and almost like he did it by accident - but when you turn around and see the look in his eyes, you know it wasnât.
the same way he can see a palpable desire and surprise and tension in your gaze, causing him to suppress a growing smirk. it makes you wanna tease him back in whatever way you can but you know that eunbiâs due back from the bathroom at any moment.
so you only cock your head to the side, lick over your lower lip carefully as you grasp the towel in your hands gently.
âthank you, mr. park,â you say, your voice as airy and sweet as you can possibly make it without sounding like an idiot.
âyouâre welcome, y/n,â he says, taking a few steps back as his eyes lock on you. he stays there for a few moments until he hears the door to the pool house open.
you watch his lustful, dark expression change right then and there, a towel wrapping around his lower body and his face stretching into a happy, father-approved look.
âso youâre good with anything for dinner, y/n?â he asks, his voice loud and clear enough for his approaching daughter to hear. âi know you mentioned you were picky.â
âletâs get pizza!â eunbi screeches through the air, telling seonghwa that everyoneâs staying over and theyâll need at least four boxes.
but you canât even think about pizza right now, not when this moment right here is solidifying the crazy thought in your head that your best friendâs dad wants you just as much as you want him.
you called him out later that night around one a.m., after eunbi and jiwoon were the last to pass out to your scary movie marathon.
the others were sprawled out on the basement floor, an intricate array of blankets and pillows on the floor that you attempted to weave through, both, skillfully and quietly.
there was a dryness in your throat that could only be settled by a cold glass of water, making your way through the house quietly and praying you donât run into mrs. park.
sheâs been just as passive aggressive as she usually is in front of people so you could never imagine being alone with her. wondering what the hell sheâd say to you without seonghwa and eunbi as buffers.
you were relieved when the lights were off in the kitchen, padding your way to the fridge to take out a bottle of water. you twist and turn the cap off to gulp down the cold liquid in the refrigerator light, a quiet gasp leaving you as your thirst is quenched.
you briefly consider going up to eunbiâs room to sleep tonight, not sure how you feel about being squished in with eunbi and jiwoon cuddling on the couch, when the light suddenly flicks off.
it causes you to freeze and halt all thoughts, fear running through you for all three seconds before you see seonghwaâs tall, familiar figure pass you. you watch him carefully in the dim light of the fridge, his shirtless chest yet again right in front of your face.
leaned back against the counter across from you, giving you a perfect view of his toned chest and gray sweatpants.
âmidnight snack?â he asks, the smirk on his face almost causing you to roll your eyes.
instead, your lips quirk into a small smile. raising your water bottle by your head and shaking it, the water swishing in your pounding ears.
âjust water,â you respond quietly, matching his low tone. âi hope thatâs okay.â
âthat you took water? of course, y/n,â he says, amusement in his gaze as he looks you over.
youâre freshly showered and in a pair of pajamas, matching pink sets that eunbi got you for christmas one year - he remembers because he was with her when she bought it.
a soft smile crosses your face, your back getting cold from the open fridge but not daring to move a muscle. not with him looking at you the way he is and with his body just a few feet away from you.
a silence lingers in the kitchen, you not sure why heâs looking at you and him waiting to see if you say something, before he bites the inside of his cheek.
âi wanted to say sorry about before.â
your eyebrow quirks up, interest so clearly peaked as you cock your head to the side.
âwhat do you mean?â
a smirk crosses his face as he watches you play dumb, head cocked and eyes wide and everything about you with such mock innocence, he thinks thatâs whatâs driving him the most crazy.
that you do this shit and say certain things with almost complete unawareness and innocence, if it werenât for the hidden look of desire and teasing in your eyes.
âyou know,â is all he says, his voice dipping and eyes twinging darker, it makes your lower stomach swoop.
a part of is positive, even if you ask, heâs not gonna say it aloud.
heâs not gonna say or acknowledge any of this aloud and make you guys play this game until you leave in a few weeks.
and then when you leave, unsure about your next prospects of college or education or even living arrangements, who knows if youâre ever gonna see him again.
so you only hum lowly, closing the fridge behind you and leaving you both in darkness. the only source of light is from the moon outside, lighting up half the kitchen from the large bay window.
it leaves you both incredibly exposed, anyone from the outside able to see the two seemingly innocent bodies standing toe to toe with each other; but they donât see the lustful looks and eyes full of desire, both of you so entrapped by the other, itâs obvious with the tension in the air.
âoh, well, then... itâs okay, mr. park,â you say with a smile, taking a step back as your eyes roam his chest one last time. âi didnât mind.â
youâre about to say goodnight when you see his arm reach out, shocked but oh, so ready ready to give into your desire and feel your body crash against his or your lips connect finally.
moan into his mouth and feel more of his hardness against you - but he only takes the water from your hand, presses his mouth against the plastic rim and swigs down a big gulp.
you watch with wide eyes as his adamâs apple bobs in the moonlight, head tipped back and body perched calmly on the counter as he takes a swig of your water bottle, spit exchanged and his mouth right where yours was.
he pulls back with an unreadable expression, licking the excess water from his lips before simply closing the cap, holding out the bottle and smiling at you with the most wise-ass smirk youâve ever seen, youâre not sure how youâre ever gonna one up this man.
"sweet dreams, y/n.â
strike 3:
your new years weekend get away turned into an extended stay that consisted of sleeping on a lumpy air mattress, five extra guests and so much alcohol, youâre positive youâre still hungover three days later.
âit wasnât that... we only did a... i mean it wasnât like we were....â eunbi says, the two of you laying on her bed nursing headaches and body aches to the severest degree.
âokay, it was pretty bad. we were kind of rowdy and out of control.â
âyou donât say?â you grumble, never one to black out and get that shit faced and then doing it nearly every night - maybe to deal with dannyâs pathetic soft looks or whispered sweet nothings to you.
ânothing is working either. not advil or water or greasy food. we mightâve fucked ourselves for life, bi.â
but if thereâs one thing that always helped for eunbi, it was a nice, long bath. steaming hot water that burned her skin and the prettiest bath bombs to make the entire bathroom smell of strawberries and cream.
so even though you didnât want to, nothing more comfortable than eunbiâs king size bed and warm, fluffy comforter, you allowed the girl to drag you to the bathroom down the hall to set up âyour last resort, hangover paradise.â
it consisted of every type of bath bomb and lotion and bubble bath the luxurious could dream of, sending her out immediately when you saw her sneaking in with a glass of champagne.
âare you crazy?â you ask, dipping your toe in the water to test the temperature. âthatâs what started this disaster.â
âfine, more for me!â she squeals happily, turning down the lights and pressing the bluetooth button for your phoneâs music. âenjoy. iâll see you in an hour, completely hangover free.â
âweâll see about that,â you grumble, your words falling on deaf ears as she locks and closes the door to makes her way back to her ensuite.
and as much as you wanna give eunbi shit for her pompous tactics and techniques for everything in life, you have to say that this is certainly helping.
soaking in the steaming hot water, with cucumbers on your eyes and quiet music playing through the ceiling speakers. the jets in the tub also added another layer of relaxation to it, healing your sore muscles from days of waking up on a hard, wooden floor.
the mirrors were steamed and the room was boiling by the time you got out, stepping on the fuzzy bath mat and drying yourself off with a towel. you had tried not to get your hair wet but it proved useless, your relaxed body sinking further and further down until nearly your whole head was wet.
you stretch your arms above your head as you let out a content groan, feeling the best youâve felt in three days and ready to take a nap.
but itâs at that moment, looking around the large steaming bathroom, that you realized you didnât bring a change of clothes in. meaning youâll know have to walk done the hall and into eunbiâs room in just a towel.
itâs fairly late, almost 11:30, so youâre hoping that her parents are in their rooms and fast asleep by now.
you peak your head out, feeling like a spy in a cheesy action movie as you look up and down the hall. you turn off the light once the coast is clear, walking quietly but quickly down to eunbiâs room - or wing, as it could be considered
youâre almost out of the gate, just a few more steps until you round the corner down eunbiâs hallway, when seonghwaâs tall figure is coming right up the stairs.
his head is down as he looks at his phone, still in his dress shirt and tie from his long day at work. you noticed that after the holidays, heâs been around the house less - working from home when he can but also needing to go into the office more often than not.
heâs at the top of the stairs when he finally notices your figure watching him, wrapped in a towel with a flush on your cheeks and your wet hair dripping on the floor.
it seems to be the thing to break him right now, not able to tear his eyes away or think of any fun, flirty comments to keep you from suppressing the need to roll your eyes.
because his days have been long and stressful and the only thing he needs right now is to just get off - and then there you are like something his prayers have answered, standing there quiet and awestruck at the sight of his loose tie and messy black hair heâs been running his hands through all day.
âh-hi, mr. park,â your quiet voice says, sweet and soft-spoken and utterly apologetic, like youâre embarrassed to be caught in just your towel - and he supposes that would make sense, to feel embarrassed about getting caught like this your friendâs father.
but he canât find it in himself to care right now, two seconds away from dragging you down to his office so he can finally fuck you over his desk - but he knows that would be the worst decision in the world, for countless reasons.
âhi, y/n,â he grumbles back just as low, leant against the railing with a voice that sounds defeated and gruff.
âare you okay?â you ask, something about his voice and demeanor off.
he has to hold back a strangled laugh, his lips quirking up before he bites down on his lip.
âiâm... iâm fine, thanks. workâs just busy,â he says, a certain part of his chest warming at the fact you even asked - he knows his wife wonât when he walks in their bedroom in a few minutes.
âoh, okay,â you respond, twirling with the end of your towel nervously. âwell... iâm sorry to hear that.â
he allows himself to let out a chuckle this time, shaking his head as he looks over your bare, wet face; youâre too pretty for your own good, heâs not even sure you realize just how pretty you are.
just how much he really wants you and just how much heâs coming to like seeing you in his house everyday.
âitâs alright, thatâs why you gotta do something you love, right?â he quips, his long fingers up to recreate a camera, pressing down as if to snap a photo.
it cause you to let out a soft, genuine giggle, nodding your head and easing the slight embarrassment of him catching you in a towel.
âright,â you say with a smile, shy smiles and gazes shared until you finally look away in fear of your cheeks warming again.
but it doesnât stop him from admiring the view of you, your bare face and exposed chest before the towel covers up all the parts he wants to so desperately explore.
he pictures dropping your towel and hearing it fall to the floor with a plop, take in the sight of your perky boobs and hard nipples in the air.
drop his mouth just a little bit to your neck, pressing small kisses against your skin as his fingers knead your nipples, all the quiet moans and breaths to make sure you two donât get caught shooting right to his cock.
he probably wouldnât be able to control himself, sliding a finger into you right then and there in the middle of the hallway, pressing your back against the wall to have you trapped against his larger body.
heâd pump his finger in and out of you slowly and tauntingly, hearing how wet you are and feeling how tight you are. itâd be similiar to how this past month has just been both of you taunting and teasing and beating around the bush, occasionally letting his fingers curl to his your g-spot or graze your sensitive clit.
and then heâd drop to his knees to taste you. make sure he sucks and licks and takes your clit in his warm mouth that youâre-
âi should get back to eunbi,â you finally say, breaking the silence and ripping him from his dirty, hidden fantasies. you canât take the lust and desire in his eyes that you see when he looks at you, an painful ache building between your legs more and more.
âgoodnight, mr. park.â
you nearly run into eunbiâs room and slam the door had you not seen her sleeping form, passed out right there in the middle of her bed wearing a baby pink robe.
you look beside her to see an extra one laid out, a silky lilac one that causes a small smile to cross your face.
youâve never felt material like this on your skin, basking in the feeling of the smooth, silky material as you clean up her room quietly - both to tidy up and distract you from the ache in your legs and last encounter with her father.
for eunbi growing up with housekeepers and nannies her whole life, it always surprised you how clean and tidy your roommate was; the sink was never full of dishes and you alternated vacuuming the living room carpet.
but itâs obvious all of that is a facade because since the moment she got home, her messy ways have shown through - you find it endearing, though, and itâs all very eunbi: a homey, lived in mess of luxurious items and articles of clothing worth more than your childhood home.
the girl in question had moved to the right side in her sleep as you cleaned, a quiet chuckle leaving your mouth. you look to see both your water bottles are empty, deciding on the brave decision to go downstairs to grab two new ones.
the last time youâd done that, you thought for sure mr. park was gonna jump your bones - and you know you were gonna let him.
your mind is littered with memories of that night as you make your way through the dark house of twists and turns, carefully going down the stairs as you walk toward the kitchen.
thereâs a room with beautiful double doors on your left, a room youâve walked past hundreds of times throughout your stay here. eunbi told you it was her dadâs first floor office, where he usually worked and had his meetings from home.
the first thing you notice from down the hall is that the door is slightly cracked open, a peak in from the dimly lit kitchen showcasing some fancy decor of a globe.
as you make your way closer and closer, your ears are met with a quiet, strangled groan that causes you to stop in your tracks; your mind begins to race with a million different scenarios of what you could be walking past right now.
your first thought is that youâre about to see mr. and mrs. park in a very compromising position over his desk - and, as sick as it sounds, as delusional and crazy and absurd as it sounds, that prospect makes your stomach sink and twist painfully.
but that would be normal, you suppose; theyâre a fucking married couple after all and seonghwa had seemed stressed from work. obviously he was gonna ask his wife to help calm him down and relax him.
get all of his stress out in the form of-
you shake your head before you can even think about it, forcing your feet to move past the office doors.
and itâs like you canât even stop yourself from peeking in, confirming to see if your thoughts are correct and youâre about to be gutted, when you take in the sight before you.
seonghwa still in his loose tie and white dress shirt, pants around his ankles and his head thrown back in his office chair as his own hand jerks his cock off.
everything about it is dirty and wrong and you know you shouldnât be looking in but you canât stop.
you canât stop watching the way his hand works around his cock expertly, long and thick and so fucking nice it nearly makes you drool. the thought of you on your knees before him, taking him in your mouth and licking and sucking around the tip, making you bite back a moan.
you canât stop your eyes from looking at his face, his head thrown back and eyes squeezed shut with his neck on display - perfect for you to bite and give hickies, if you were on top straddling him.
you canât stop the painful ache and wetness seeping in your thong as you watch him get off, his groans and grunts and heavy breaths making you wanna whine out in arousal.
and itâs that suppression right there, getting so worked up and horny over the sight of your peeping tina activities, that cause you to pull yourself away.
because as much as you donât want to and as much as you wanna help him, you canât.
you can only scramble into the kitchen and get water as fast and quiet as humanly possible, scurrying past the office and up the stairs with the stealthiness of a lion.
you can only lay in bed with the thoughts of your roommateâs father and the noises he makes, the sight of his cock and the hand movements replaying over and over in your mind.
and you realize that night, with only a few more days until you both have to leave for the spring semester, you can only hope to never see mr. park again.
let this flirtation and fascination and utterly screwed up infatuation with your roommateâs dad be nothing but a dirty memory youâll keep to yourself for the rest of your life.
because if itâs not, if you have to see him again and have him in your daily life again, you wonât be able to hold yourself back.
your lust will turn deeper and youâll find yourself in a much bigger issue than damp underwear and secret, forbidden moments with mr. park seonghwa.
you shouldâve known with only two days left of your stay that eunbi was gonna let the news slip.
you were at least grateful for the fact that mrs. park had a charity ball with her clan of âbotox getting, bitchy sounding gold diggers who need to desperately get laid,â successfully riding her of your last friday night dinner.
âso you girls donât want a new apartment then?â seonghwa asked, glass of wine in his hand as he looks at the two of you questioningly. âthat buildingâs looking for a new owner, eunbi, i think itâd be perfect for you both.â
âdad donât be ridiculous, we canât own the building!â eunbi says, swatting her dad playfully as she shovels a piece of food in her mouth. sheâs casual and comfortable without her momâs prying eyes and biting tone, her foot resting on the white fabric beneath her.
âand besides, i might be alone in there soon. we still donât know if y/n is gonna be starting her-â
you kick the girl under the table roughly, her face pulling into a wince as a cry leaves her mouth.
âow, y/n! what the he-â
but itâs upon seeing your white face and annoyed expression that she realizes what she said, her mouth falling open and silent as she looks at you apologetically.
âoh shit...â
you can only shoot her a pained, sarcastic smile, daringly looking at seonghwa whoâs watching the two of you with a curious expression.
âwhat do you mean?â
silence hangs in the air, you and eunbi sharing side eyes and dejected looks with her dad before he cocks an eyebrow at the both of you.
âgirls... what do you mean?â he asks, his voice deeper and more serious, taking on a dad-like tone eunbi isnât used to hearing from her relaxed, playful father.
and thatâs when, before eunbi can open her big mouth any further, you calmly and regretfully explain the situation with your scholarship.
how you got an e-mail a few months ago about alternate funding for the art department and that you were one of the many students who, while keeping up your end of requirements, could not be awarded money.
âitâs awful that they can do that,â seonghwa says, his eyes full of the same sympathy and outrage eunbiâs held - except he knows that this happens all the time. that itâs unfair and sick and a big ploy in the education system that needs incredible reform.
especially when it hurts students like you.
âyeah but it is what it is,â you say, trying your hardest to steer the conversation to literally anything but this (in fear that youâll scream or start crying or have yet another anxiety attack).
âi can just finish up in the fall, itâs no big deal,â you lie through our teeth, a sad smile on your face as you look at eunbi. âiâm just sorry it messes up our combined graduation party.â
a frown crosses eunbiâs face as she smacks you in the arm, pulling you closer to her just so she could cuddle herself into your arm.
âi will wait for you,â she proclaims dramatically, a pout on her lips and starry-eyed look in her gaze. âi will wait as long as i have to. if they delay it any further, father, you will simply have to sue the school.â
âfather, huh?â seonghwa hums lowly, his lips quirking into a smirk.
father is the term eunbi uses when she wants to use him and his money, whether it be blackmailing unfair teachers or shitty students or calling for him when her and her mom are fighting.
âyes, father,â she says, looking to you with a sweet, apologetic smile on her face.
âiâm serious, y/n. we got your back,â she quips with a wink, a pained smile on your face that she knows means you canât wait to let her have it when you two are alone.
âyou had one job, eunbi, and you were doing so good,â you say in her room later that night, pacing back and forth as she sits on her bed like a scolded child. âliterally two nights left and you let it slip out!â
âiâm sorry, okay!â she whines for the ninth time, a pout on her face as she plays with fingers; you wanna roll your eyes seeing it, knowing for a fact thatâs something she does when sheâs in trouble with jiwoon.
âi didnât mean to, it just slipped out!â she begins to defend, âand it was only my dad! he wouldnât dare say a bad word about you, y/n, he loves you.â
you ignore the twinge in your chest when you hear her say those words, feeling a tad guilty at the bodily reaction you have about her own father. how much youâre hiding from her and that you have these suppressed feelings and secret moments in the first place.
âloves me or not, bad word or not, itâs still embarrassing, eunbi,â you say, a frown on your lips as you start to hear the situation aloud.Â
âi still canât pay for my tuition and have to wait almost a whole year to take a degree in fucking photography. like how embarrassing is that, all of this just for me never find a job and live in a box.â
youâve only seen a flash of anger on eunbiâs face a few times in your life, the incident with the dorm girls and her dad and when a sorority girl tried to kiss jiwoon at the bar.
and you see it right now, her small but mighty frame jumping off the bed and lunging toward you quickly.
âare you kidding me!â she squeals, smacking you in the arm and pushing you down on the bed.
âwhat the hell do you mean a degree in fucking photography? or living in a box? youâre gonna be the best photographer in the world and shoot every event in my life and charge me quadruple the amount!â
a smile pulls at your lips as you hear her go on and on, hype you up and build up your confidence and tell you to never talk that way about yourself again. how thereâs nothing embarrassing about not being able to afford thousands of dollars when you were alerted about the expense on such short notice.
âokay, okay, i know that,â you eventually give in, letting out a sigh as you flop down on her bed. âitâs just.... stressful. i canât move back home but i also need to get like, a real job. a job thatâs gonna pay well so i can save up as much as possible.â
âand weâll find you that when we get back,â she says, assuring with a confident look in her eye and her hands in yours. âi can promise you, with or without my fatherâs connections, weâre getting you a job.â
her words prove to reassure you for the remainder of the night, when, after she kisses your ass a little more, asks if she can go to jiwoonâs for a little.
you spent that time in her room looking at nearby job offerings and building up your resume and cover letters, working well into the night hours with a text from jiwoon that she fell asleep and will be back in the morning.
you stretch your arms above your head with a quiet groan, noting itâs almost one oâclock and youâre fucking parched yet again.
itâs no surprise to you when the lights in the kitchen are on, dimly light and no noise around as you pad your way to the fridge.
you almost expect the footsteps that come in a few moments later, when you take a sip from your water and close the fridge without hesitation.
âhave you told your parents about tuition?â
youâre confused by the statement that leaves seonghwaâs mouth, brows pulled together and a sinking feeling in your stomach at this conversation again - because as if tuition wasnât enough, he just had to bring up your parents.
but you donât wanna beat around the bush any longer; you two seem to do that enough.
âme and my parents donât talk,â you say, straight forward and quiet as you look right at him.
itâs the first time he sees you look a little broken and defeated, a certain kind of sadness shining behind your eyes that makes him wanna pull him into you. it feels like a protective instinct heâs used to, caring for the people in his life and not wanting to see them struggle.
âthey wouldnât help me anyway.â
this protective instinct feels a little different in this moment, something else tugging in his chest that he hasnât felt in a very long time - not until he started seeing you more.
âbut itâd be a shame if you didnât finish, y/n. you got so far and youâve done so well for yourself.â
you smile a little at the praise, tongue rolling over your lips in a way he certainly doesnât miss - but this moment isnât about that. itâs not something he cares even a little bit about right now.
âthank you, mr. park, but i am gonna finish,â you say with finality, the confident and sure tone making a strange sort of pride swell inside of him.
âi just have to save up money and iâll start in the fall. itâs really not that big of a deal,â you tell him with a smile, taking a few steps back so you donât feel too crowded by him.
âeunbiâs gonna help me look for jobs when i get back,â you say, a teasing smile pulling at your lips as you look at him. âa big girl job. something real and hard, thatâs gonna make me super stressed and agitated.â
so much so that i have to get off at the thought of you.
a deep chuckle bubbles out of him that you match with ease, the two of you sharing small smiles and quiet giggles in the middle of this spotless, white kitchen.
âcanât do what you love quite yet, i guess,â seonghwa says, his eyes roaming your face so slowly and carefully, it makes you a tad bit nervous.
you hadnât realized how natural and easy this conversation was between you two, like you were talking to someone youâd known your whole life opposed to someone youâve barely known for four years.
his hand itches to reach up and touch your hair, tuck the soft, silky looking strand behind your ear and watch your cheeks heat up when your skin touches; but instead, he smiles down at you, inching closer until heâs just looming over you and staring down at you with a soft, undetectable look in his eye.
âbut itâll be worth it in the end, i think. itâs just gonna... take some time.â
you lick over our lips, throat and mouth suddenly so incredibly dry, as you nod your head.
âyeah, i think so, too,â you say, your lips smushing together nervously before you open your mouth to speak again - this could be one of the last times youâre alone with him.
âthank you for letting me stay with you guys, mr. park. itâs been... really nice spending time with people for the holidays.â
he feels his heart twinge in his chest again, his eyes falling down to your lips and swearing heâs never wanted to kiss someone so bad in his life. Â
âof course, y/n, itâs been a pleasure,â he says, a smile quirking at his lips with a hint of something you just canât quite make out. âmaybe weâll see each other again soon.â
it was five days before classes started that you got the confirmation e-mail - a message confirming your tuition for the spring semester was paid in full and your current balance was $0.
you had to look over the message for three whole hours making sure you had read the e-mail correctly, even going as far to call the bursar office to make sure they had the correct address.
but they had confirmed with surety that your balance was paid off, urging you to quickly sign up for the classes you need before the day was over.
âokay, you will never believe what interview i was able to score for you,â eunbi says the moment she walks in the apartment, shopping bags up her arm and gucci sunglasses perched atop her head.
âiâll admit, the vibe was a little off with the coworkers but i think itâd be a great opportunity to-â her eyes catch your laptop screen on the school website, a list of classes and times on your screen that causes her eyes to widen.
âoh?â she squeals, running over and throwing herself down on the couch beside you. âwhat the heck are you doing? are you... did you...?â
the lie came way too quick and easy to you, excitedly blabbering out that there was a change in the system and your scholarship was approved - âi think they felt bad that i was a graduating senior,â you said, eunbiâs face pulled into the happiest smile youâve ever seen.
she clapped and danced and bounced around in excitement, proclaiming you guys just had to go out and get drinks to celebrate the fact that your surprise party was back on.
but you could only sit there with your thoughts and suspicions and this overwhelming feeling deep within your stomach that, while eunbi definitely doesnât know, her father mightâve just paid your college tuition in full.

(Y/n) and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week: Tuesday
Monday   Wednesday   Thursday (Part 1)   Thursday (Part 2)   Friday   Saturday   Sunday
Spotify Playlist (collaborative)
Warnings: anxiety, doctorâs offices, taking pain pills (not sure if I need to tag that, but just in case), stalkers, blackmail, swearing, non-consensual taking pics of nudes, slight body dysmorphia, self-loathing, toxic friends
Word count: 5,326
(A/N): another long chapter, my little wlw heart loved writing this chapter! Also holy shit I was not expecting the first part to blow up, thank you to everyone that read it! Gosh, itâs enough to make a grown woman cry :â)
You cracked open your crusty eyes to Wilbur poking his head into your room. â(Y/n), Dad wants you.â
You groaned rubbing at your eyes in an attempt to get the sleep out of them. âIâll be down in a sec.â Your voice was scratchy and thick with sleep.
He closed the door silently and you heard his socked feet thumping down the hallway. Your pain faded slightly into soreness, but your shoulders and upper back were slightly stiff. After you drug yourself out of bed, you shambled down the stairs to see your family at the table eating breakfast. Your stomach growled loudly, making you blush slightly in embarrassment.Â
Your eldest brother snorted. âHungry (y/n)?â
You slumped into your seat next to him slowly shoveling food into your mouth. âYou have no idea.â
âYou wouldnât be that hungry if you ate dinner when you got home like I told you to do last night, young lady. You better eat every single thing on that plate.â
There was no arguing with a stern Dadza, so you reluctantly complied. Meanwhile, Tommy and Tubbo were telling Wilbur about your match animatedly.Â
âAnd the ball was like fwoosh and she- the ball and-and-â
âAnd she hit it and Haley hit it to the other side! It was so cool!â
Wilbur merely smiled listening to them ramble about how badass you were last night. They made you feel genuinely happy that they admired your volleyball abilities; they were probably your biggest fans and that made your day most of the time. You remembered the first match they came to during your freshman year, they had run up to you right after the end-of-match whistle blew to spew about how good you were on the court. They met the team that day. Your team adored having them at your games, over the years they slowly replaced your schoolâs mascot. They played a huge part in morale boosts before and during matches.Â
He looked over to you, âI didnât know my little sister could be so badass.â
You felt your cheeks flare up. âItâs nothing I havenât done before. It really wasnât anything special.â
â(Y/n),â Philza pursed his lips, âyou did all that with a bruised back, Iâd consider that something special.â
âWait (y/n), youâre hurt?â Tommy and Tubbo looked at you with wide concerned eyes.
âYeah, but itâs not that bad. I can still move and stuff.â
Techno rolled his eyes, âitâs bad if youâre going to the doctor for it.â
âEh, it doesnât hurt as bad as it did yesterday, so Iâm not worried.âÂ
âYouâre deadass wincing everytime you move your arm,â WIlbur deadpanned, âit clearly still hurts.â
âWell yeah, I didnât say the pain went away completely. Fuckinâ dumbass.â
âLanguage,â Philza glared at you two, gesturing to the two fifth graders watching the exchange with interest.Â
You and Wilbur resumed eating and murmured out a defeated âsorry Dad.â You both glared at Techno when he huffed in amusement.Â
âIf you three keep bickering, youâre going to be late to school. Remember, you two have to drop off Tommy and Tubbo today cuz Iâm taking your sister to her appointment. Now go get ready, Iâll take care of your dishes.â
Your brothers took off up the stairs, each competing to get to the bathroom first. Occasionally, you would hear shouts and slapping noises. You felt glad you didnât have to deal with that today. Judging by Technoâs gruff voice laughing and an explosion of loud complaints from the rest, you assumed that he won today. âI swear, theyâre gonna put me in an early grave.â
âYou and me both Dad, you and me both.â
You went into the kitchen and pulled out a bottle of pain pills from the junk drawer. Various bottles of Motrin and Advil were scattered around the house because when you live with a rambunctious family like this one, people are bound to get hurt and headaches are common. Popping three into your mouth, you washed it down with a glass of water. The sound of the running water faucet and the slight splashing of water filled the silence of the room.Â
âHowâs your back? Does it feel any better?â
âKinda, today it just feels more sore than throbbing, my headache went away mostly, and my shoulder doesnât feel any worse, so thatâs better I guess.â
He shut off the water and reached for a towel to dry off his wet hands. He moved over to the freezer and grabbed a frozen package of peas that your family never ate. You all used it whenever one of you would get a bruise. He moved behind you and held it against your back without warning. Flinching forward from the unexpected temperature change, you winced with the wave of pain moving brought you.Â
âShit, sorry.â
âYouâre good. Just give me a little warning next time,â you chuckled. He gently placed it back on your back and you sighed from the slight relief that it brought you. You leaned into the peas and closed your eyes. âThat feels amazing.â
âI bet. That bruise was pretty bad yesterday, can I look at it again?â
You reluctantly left the sanctuary that was the medical grade frozen peas and leaned forward, moving your hair out of the way for him. âKnock yourself out.â
He made a hissing noise as soon as he moved your shirt out of the way. âDad, it probably looks worse than it feels.â
â...Have you seriously not looked at this yet? It looks pretty bad, hun.â
âWell, sorry I canât move to look at my back without being in pain. Iâll try harder next time.â You snarked him.
âHey, watch the attitude. Here, Iâll take a picture so you can see how bad it is.â
You heard the rustling of fabric as he fished his phone out of his pocket and the obnoxiously loud click of his camera app. You turned around to look at the damage. You squinted at his bright phone screen. Your entire back was swollen in some areas and was covered in ugly reds, blues, blacks, and purples. You made a disgusted noise in the back of your throat and cringed away from the screen. You always got nauseous seeing injuries.
âYikes.â
âYikes isnât the only word I would use, itâs bad (y/n).â
âIt looks worse than it feels, I promise. Iâm gonna go get ready so weâre not late to my appointment. It sounds like the boys are finally done with the bathroom.â
You hobbled up the stairs slowly and made your way to the bathroom. The door was wide open ready for you to use. Turning on the light, you closed the door in a hurry so that your brothers wouldnât try to get in again to hog the bathroom like they usually did. You frowned at your appearance. Your hair was sticking up in every direction and you had dark eye bags around your dull looking eyes. A few pimples dotted your skin like constellations in the night sky, but much uglier and more out of place. Turning your body, you scanned your figure. Your eyes watered as you realized that you had gained some weight. Adrian, Sammy, and Annie were right, you looked like garbage all the time.
You ripped your eyes away from yourself in the mirror with disgust etched deep into your features. You were disgusting through and through. Ripping your brush through your hair, you winced at the pain emanating from the back of your head. You deserve the pain for letting yourself go. Once you were slightly more satisfied with your appearance, you stepped out of the bathroom and quickly changed into the clothes you would wear today. You decided on a hoodie and a pair of tights. You didnât feel like dressing yourself up.Â
You once again walked down the stairs and slipped on your shoes to meet your dad in his car. You idly scrolled through your phone while you waited for him, looking at your notifications for the first time that day. You had ten texts from the group chat that you were in with Adrian, Annie, and Sammy.
Sammy <3
(Y/n) where the hell are you?

Adrian <3
Byeeee (y/n), ur the best!
(Y/n)
: ) <3
You put your phone down as your dad started up the car and pulled out of the driveway. The drive was quiet as you stared out the window and thought about how much work you now had to do. On top of your own classes, you had two more to write and a presentation to make in a class you hadnât taken since the first semester in your sophomore year. The research papers had to be at least four full pages long with a minimum of ten sources each due on Friday and you had no idea how big Sammyâs US history presentation has to be or what itâs even about. But that was fine, youâd do anything for your friends.Â
âSo, who were you texting? Your boyfriend?â He asked jokingly.
âOh, just Adrian, Sammy, and Annie. I donât have a boyfriend Dad,â because you were a closeted lesbian, but you wouldnât tell him that anytime soon. âYou know that.â
âI know,â he chuckled, âitâs been a while since Iâve seen them. How have they been?â
âTheyâre good. Adrian got a job at the diner, heâs a host. Sammy and Annie have been focusing more on raising their grades.â
âGood for them! You should invite them over for dinner sometime.â
âI was actually thinking that I could maybe go hang out with them on Halloween...?â
â(Y/n), the family was going to take Tommy and Tubbo trick-or-treating.â
âI know, but thereâs always next year. Plus, we havenât been able to hang out in so long! Weâre always free at different times.â
âI donât know (y/n), what if they donât want to trick-or-treat next year? What were you planning on doing with them?â
âWe were just gonna hang out at Annieâs house and watch some horror movies,â you lied. He would never let you go if he knew you were going to a party. Especially one where alcohol would be involved and hormonal teenage boys ran rampant actively scouting for an easy lay.
â...Iâll think about it.â The car pulled into the doctor officeâs parking lot.
âThank you Dad! Itâs been a while since weâve all hung out together.â
He chuckled as you both walked into the lobby, checked in, and waited for your name to be called. About ten minutes later, you were summoned by a nurse so you went into the back leaving your dad to wait in the lobby. The nurse recorded your height and weight (much to your dismay, you gained four pounds) and asked you the standard questions about your injury and uncomfortable questions about your overall health. The clacking of her acrylic nails on the plastic keyboard filled the awkward silence.
Once that was done, she left and you had to wait a little bit for the doctor. After slipping into the backless gown the nurse left, you mindlessly scrolled on your phone. Jumping when someone knocked on the door, you looked up to see your familyâs doctor smiling at you.
âHello (y/n), how are we feeling today?â
âIâm alright.â
âI hear that you had quite the fall onto some concrete, is that true?â
âYes, I landed on my back and the back of my head.â
She reached over and squirted hand sanitizer onto her hands, rubbing it in and looking back at you. âCan you please lay on your stomach so I can take a look at your back?â
You nodded, shifting on the uncomfortable paper covered cushioned table onto your stomach. You felt her cold hands gently graze your bruises before she pulled out her stethoscope. âCan you take a good deep breath in for me?â
You complied and she instructed you to let it out. Doing this multiple times along your back, she put her stethoscope away and continued prodding at your exposed back.Â
âThereâs definitely some swelling in multiple areas⌠It doesnât feel or sound like you cracked or broke any ribs, which is excellent⌠Do you have any pain deep in your shoulder when you move it?â
âYes, I landed on it wrong last night at my volleyball match.â
âHow would you describe your pain? Stabbing, sore, throbbingâŚâ
âMore sore, but a little stabbing pain when I move my arm.â
She moved her fingers to examine your shoulder. âIt doesnât sound like a sprain or fracture, can you move it up and down for me?â
You moved your arm up and down, front and back, and side to side. âYou still have a full range of movement, thatâs good. Can I have you sit back up again?â
You sat back up and she started testing you for a concussion. After passing her tests, you were cleared of having a concussion. âAlright (y/n), it appears that you only strained your deltoid and teres muscles and you have severe bruising along your back. Make sure you ice your back and, if you have one, wear a shoulder compression sleeve. Anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen will help with the swelling. Other than that, you have a clean bill of health! You can still participate in volleyball practices, but you need to take it easy. Donât do anything that will strain the muscles any further.â
âThank you Dr. Samson,â you smiled at her.Â
âYouâre welcome. Iâll leave you to change back into your clothes and youâre free to go! You may leave the gown on the table.â
She left the room and you redressed yourself. Walking out to the lobby, Philzaâs head perked up when he heard the door opening. He stood up and walked over to you with a slightly worried face. You both walked back out to the car.
âSo?â
âDr. Samson said that I donât have a concussion, sprains or broken bones. She told me that I just strained my shoulder muscles and I need to keep ice on my back.â
He visibly slumped in relief. âThank god. Whatâd she say about volleyball?â
âShe said that I could keep playing, but I have to take it easy.â
âGood, wouldnât want you missing finals on Thursday. Do you know if the team youâre playing is any good?â
âDad, of course theyâre good, weâre the top two teams in the area.â
âI bet their setter is nowhere near as good as you are and I bet the setter and spiker arenât as synced as you and Haley are. You two make a good pair.âÂ
âYeah we do, donât we?â You looked out the window and smiled a little and felt your ears turn red. The very mention of Haleyâs name was enough to make you feel like you were on cloud nine. The car fell silent again as you neared your high school.Â
In your AP world history class, the class was looking at the test you had taken yesterday. Surprisingly, you got a 74% on the multiple choice part and a 50% on your essay portion, so that landed you with a just below passing grade. You thought you completely flunked that test yesterday, so that was a pleasant surprise. It took a good portion out of your overall grade in the class, lowering it from a comfortable A- to a slightly alarming B. You supposed it couldâve been a lot worse. Besides reviewing your tests, the class didnât do much except starting the reading for the next chapter.
Your psychology online class went like it usually did, however your phone blew up with texts about midway through the block. Glancing down, you saw that it was Haley. Shouldnât she be in class?
Hales : )
(Y/n) meet me in the locker room right after school
I need to talk to you before practice starts
Itâs an emergency
(Y/n)
Whatâs going on?
Hales : )
Iâll explain after school.
Canât talk about it over text
(Y/n)
Alright, see ya then ig
You felt your gut twinge. Somethingâs wrong, but you didnât know what. You were worried about Haley, usually she was really bubbly. Youâve never seen the senior act so strange before. You could only wait the block out until the bell would release you from the confines of the library and into the locker room. After sending a quick text to your brothers that you were going to stay after school for your practice, you stared blankly at your laptopâs clock as you counted down the minutes left in the class period. Ten minutes. Eight minutes. Four minutes. Two minutes. Thirty seconds-
You shot up from your seat as the bell rang. Pushing past some groups of freshmen that congregated in the hallways, you made a beeline for the locker room. In the locker room, you found Haley sitting on the metal bench on the opposite end of the locker room with her back facing the last row of lockers and facing the brick wall. She was clenching her phone in her hand with an iron grip. You hurried to sit next to her.
âHales, whatâs going on? Talk to me.â
âItâs bad (y/n). Like, really bad.â
âWhatâs bad? Youâre worrying me.â
Wordlessly, she unlocked her phone and handed it to you. On the screen was something that you werenât expecting to see. You scrolled through the contents and felt your stomach drop with each scroll; someone took pictures of you and Haley throughout the match last night. Every picture was a violation to yours and Haleyâs dignities, they had gotten zoomed in pictures of your boobs and asses. Deeper, there were even pictures taken of you changing into your volleyball uniform through your open window. You were only in your underwear. Haley had a similar picture that you scrolled past as fast as you could. Scrolling to the bottom of the text message thread, the person that sent Haley the pictures added a caption to the last picture. It was a picture of you and Haley together celebrating your match, her arm slung around your shoulder with your mouth open mid-laugh.
Unknown
Iâm sending these out to the entire school unless you stop hanging around her.
If you tell anyone, the pics will be printed off and put in every single locker and bathroom the school has.
Youâll be the sluts of Klinkver High.Â
Cut all ties now. You have two days.Â
Do not try me.
âJesus christ Haley. Who the fuck would do this? This is sick.â
She took her phone back and locked it without looking at the screen. âI donât know (y/n). I wanted to tell you not to openly talk to me for a few days. We donât know who took these, we donât know what theyâre capable of. I donât wanna risk angering them.â
âWe can find them! If we look close enough, we might find a few clues where they were sitting. Do you remember seeing anything suspicious last night?â
â(Y/n), our best option is to leave it. We just canât talk in person anymore; we can still text each other.â
âHales, how are we gonna not talk? Iâm your setter.â
She ran a hand through her thick black hair. âI donât know (y/n). Just-just donât talk to me anymore, I donât want your pictures leaked.â
âI donât care about my pictures. My nameâs been drug through so much shit this past year that it wonât affect me. I donât want your stuff leaked.â
She gave a watery laugh, âyou care too much, I love that about youâŚâ Glistening eyes turned to look deep into your own. âIâm so scared (y/n), I donât know what to do.â
You pulled her into a hug, wincing slightly when she squeezed her arms around your upper back. She buried her face into your shoulder and started shaking with muffled sobs. âHaley, I promise Iâll catch whatever sick bastard is doing this to you. You donât deserve this.â
She said nothing as you rested your chin on the top of her head and started to rock her back and forth slowly. You two stayed like that even after her sobbing resided, finding comfort in each otherâs presence. Glancing at the clock, you realized that you two have been in the locker room for an hour. Practice was set to start in fifteen minutes, people were going to start coming into the locker room soon.Â
You reluctantly pulled away from the hug and looked Haley in her bloodshot eyes, âIâm not going to let those pictures of you get leaked. I swear on my-â
The door to the locker room swung open and loud laughter echoed throughout the room. Haley pushed you away and speed walked off to a bathroom stall, slamming the door shut behind her.Â
âDamn (y/n), whatâd you do? Sheâs pissed.âÂ
âItâs none of your business, Zara.âÂ
âOh, so itâs a loverâs quarrel then~â She cackled, her hair bouncing slightly with each heave of her shoulders.Â
âFor the love of⌠Haley and I arenât dating, weâre both straight.â Sheâs straight.
âMmhm.â She brushed past you to go to her locker. You followed her, your locker was in the grouping next to hers. You shared the area with Haley. You changed as fast as you could so that Haley would have time to change before practice starts. Speed walking into the gym, Zara was hot on your trail wearing a shit eating grin.
âWhy are you in such a rush? Giving your girlfriend the silent treatment?â
âZara. We arenât dating. For the last time, weâre both heterosexual, not homosexual!â You wildly gestured with your hands to emphasize your point, your voice being amplified by the vast gym. Coach Williams gave you a confused look from across the gym.Â
âYou just keep telling yourself that.â
âIâm serious.â
âHi serious,â a soft voice replied from behind you, âIâm Jazzy.â
You groaned at the pun at the same time Zara started cackling, giving the short libero a high five. âNice!â
âThat was so bad, Jaz.â You couldnât help the smile that found its way onto your face.
Zara poked your cheek with a wide grin. âCâmon, youâre smiling!â
âI am and I hate it.â
Your bickering continued with Jazzy watching you two with a content smile. The remaining members of the team (Haley, Marlene, and Zuri) filed into the gym right as Coach Williams blew her whistle.Â
Practice went by slowly without Haley talking to you. Sure, you had the rest of the team, but it didnât feel the same with you guys ignoring each other. If the team or Coach Williams noticed you two not talking to each other, they didnât say anything. By time practice was over, you all went to the locker room to change. After slipping into your fuzzy pajama pants, you sat on the bench and texted Wilbur to come pick you up. He was supposed to pick you up after practice today because he and Techno took the car home after school. Five minutes passed and he still didnât reply. He probably wonât see the text until you got home from walking.
You sighed, resting your chin in your palm as you leaned forward. One by one, the girls left the locker room until it was only you and Haley left.Â
âDo you need a ride (y/n)?â She asked gently.
âBut what if the person sees us together? I can just walk home, itâs not really a big deal.â
She rolled her eyes at you. âIt is a big deal. Itâs cold and dark out. You could get kidnapped or something. You donât even have a coat with you. Iâm giving you a ride whether you like it or not.â
You playfully rolled your eyes at her and stood up to walk next to her, âokay, mom.â
âDonât give me that attitude young lady.â
âYou canât tell me what to do, youâre not my real mom!â
She gasped and lightly smacked the back of your shoulder, âI married your- are you alright? Shit, I didnât hurt you did I?â
âNo, youâre good. Itâs just this damned bruise.â
She moved her hands and frantically turned you around to pull the neck of your shirt down. You two stood in front of the schoolâs main entrance with the nauseatingly bright fluorescent light bouncing off the reflective surface of the tiles. The orange tinted street lights lit up the sidewalk outside.
â(Y/n)-â
âI know what youâre gonna say.â
She scoffed, âoh really? What am I gonna say then, o wise one?â
You turned around to face her, ââoh, this is bad, yadda yadda yadda.â Everyoneâs been saying that about it. Honestly it looks worse than it feels. Tis but a scratch, mâlady.â
She snorted and covered her mouth, ânever call me âmâladyâ ever again.â
You started to walk to her car in the empty parking lot. âOr what? Whatâre ya gonna do?â
âI swear to god, (y/n), Iâm gonna leave you here.â
âDo it, pussy. Bet you wonât.â
âYou really wanna bet?â
You grinned at her, âhell yeah.â
She broke off into a mad dash to her car, laughing freely into the night sky. You chased after her trying not to move your arms much, your laugh mixing with hers like a perfect symphony composed of the worldâs best musicians. The sound of your rubber soles slapping the pavement resonated throughout the parking lot as you quickly gained on her. Reaching out to grab her shirt, she smirked at you and sharply turned to the right into the grass.
You grinned as her pace slowed down slightly. Youâd be able to catch her at this pace. You pushed your legs to move faster as she looked at you from over her shoulder and shrieked in surprise at how close you were to her. You cackled at her reaction, reaching out once again, you grabbed her hand. She was stopped dead in her tracks as your shoulder was yanked with the sudden momentum, making you hiss in slight pain. Despite that, you didnât let go of her soft hand.Â
You both stood there under the moonlight and the soft orange street lamps trying to catch your breath. The slightly damp blades of grass tickled your ankle as you shifted to face her better. Through gasping breaths and a dopey grin, you said âyou⌠lost, pussy.â
She let out a breathy laugh as she pulled you to her car. âShuddup.â
âMake me~â
She opened the passenger side door for you and got into the driver's seat. Her car smelled like vanilla and citrus. âOh, you will later when I make you do more sets in weight lifting tomorrow, hurt shoulder be damned.â
She turned on the ignition and the car revved to life, soft indie pop wafted from the speakers. She backed out of the parking space and sped off to the main road. âYou wouldnâtâŚâ
âIâm your captain, (y/n). I can make you do whatever I want.â You felt your cheeks heat up a tad. You were happy that she couldnât see you.
âNaw, youâre too much of a softie for that. Admit it, Iâve got you wrapped around my little finger.â
She chuckled as she pulled into your driveway and put the car in park. â...Alright, maybe you do. Just a bit.â
She turned to look at you. She looked stunning with the shadows accentuating the contours of her face perfectly. You found yourself glancing at her lips and leaning slightly towards you. To your surprise, she started leaning into you as well. Before your lips could finally mesh together, she pulled back with a sigh and ran her hand through her hair. You felt a rush of disappointment and fear course through your veins. She didnât like you like that, you shouldâve known better. You were so stupid. So, so stu-
âI canât (y/n). I want to kiss you so bad, but we canât. Not yet at least. Not until we find the pervert that took those pictures of us.â
You sighed, âright.â
The car was filled with awkward silence. Not even the soft music streaming from the speakers could alleviate the awkwardness. God, you really screwed up your friendship, didnât you? Sammy, Adrian, and Annie were right; you messed up everything you touched.
You coughed, âI think Iâm gonnaâŚâ
âYeahâŚâ
You grabbed your bag and walked into your house, the smell of chicken slapping you in the face instantly. Without checking in with your dad, you hurried up the stairs, desperate for the warm comfort of your bed. That, and if you wanted to get Sammyâs presentation and Adrianâs, Annieâs, and your research papers done by Friday, you had to start as soon as you could. You were going to skip dinner for tonight, youâd just grab more breakfast tomorrow morning.Â
You plopped on your bed and got started on your research paper. Luckily, you already had all of the sources you were planning on using and the rough outline of each body paragraph, so writing the actual paper wasnât going to take long. You worked until you heard a knock at your door.Â
â(Y/n),â Technoâs monotone voice called out, âdinnerâs ready.â
âTell Dad Iâm not hungry. Practiceâs got me beat, Iâm going to bed soon.â
He grunted, âyou know heâs not gonna like that right?â
You felt frustration start to swim circles around your chest, âTechno, just tell him that Iâm not hungry right now. Please.â
âDamn, you donât need to be like that. Iâll tell him.â
You heard his stomping footsteps thumping down the hall. Shit, you pissed him off. You were a terrible person, he was just trying to get you to eat something, Pushing back the tears that threatened to spill from your eyes, you forced the panic that was starting to swirl around your body in laps deep into your being. You didnât have time to deal with your failures and stupid emotions, you had to get this done. You didnât have time to think about Haleyâs warm breath ghosting across your lips. You didnât have time to think about how she probably regretted almost kissing you. You didnât have time to fall into an anxiety spiral, you needed to focus if you wanted Adrian, Annie, and Sammy to forgive you. You ruined yours and Haleyâs friendship and did the same to yours and Technoâs. They were the only ones you had left. You needed to be a better friend.

Remus sighed in the direction of the stack of boxes that looked like it was about to topple over.
âSirius?â he called, walking into the living room.
âYeah?â Sirius replied, peering at Remus around the stack of boxes from the couch where he was sitting.
âI swear to god if you and James used any of the boxes marked âfragileâ for your fortressâŚâ He left the sentence hanging as he reached up to lower the box on the top. âHow did you even manage to stack the boxes that high? Did you have to stand on a chair or something to reach up here?â
âRude,â Sirius said, coming around to Remusâ side of the fort. âIâm not that short.â
âJames had to do it, didnât he?â Remus teased, turning around.
âMoony, stop making fun of me,â Sirius pouted. âCome on, weâre going into the fort.â The âfortâ was made of boxes that contained all of Sirius and Remusâ possessions stacked to form walls with a sheet stretched over the top. And it was right in the middle of the living room of Remus and Siriusâ new apartment.
Sirius grabbed Remus by the hand and pulled him into the fort. The sheet, which was their makeshift ceiling, was hanging so low that even Sirius had to sit on the floor. They sat down and Remus looked around. Then he spotted a box labelled âkitchen wareâ and turned to Sirius.
âAre you fucking kidding me?â he said. âI was looking for that box for like an hour! I nearly called the movers to ask them to double-check that they hadnât missed any boxes!â
âI didnât know you were looking for it!â Sirius said defensively.
âI literally asked you if youâd seen the box!â Remus said, laughing and shaking his head.
âUhhh,â Sirius started, scrambling for an excuse, âIâm sorry, Remus, but you should know by now that I answer most questions wrong.â
âThat is the worst excuse Iâve ever heard,â Remus said.
âThen you obviously havenât heard any of the excuses I gave McGonagall for breaking the rules,â Sirius said.
âWhat are you talking about, I was there 90 percent of the time,â Remus said.
âYeah but when you were there you were giving the excuses.â
âYeah, my excuses were good, they got us out of detention,â Remus said.
âFeels weird knowing Iâll never have another detention,â Sirius said, lying down on the carpet he and James had brought into the fort earlier. âI keep thinking weâre gonna go back at the end of the summer.â
âYeah, I know what you mean,â Remus said, lying down next to him. âIt feels like just yesterday you were asking me to move it with you and now weâre here. In our living room. In a fucking fort.â Sirius laughed and kissed Remus lightly.
Remus remembered the day Sirius had asked him to move in. Heâd never forget it. It was their first anniversary and they were up on the astronomy tower, the same place theyâd gotten together the year before. Remus remembered how hard he was trying to put aside his anxiety about the upcoming exams just for that day. Sirius made it easier. Sirius made everything easier.
âCan I give you my present now?â Sirius asked. Remus had felt his cheeks heating, despite the fact that he was quite cold up on the tower, in the cool breeze stinging his face.
âYou didnât have to get me anything,â he muttered.
âI know,â Sirius said. âBut I wanted to. Besides, you were the one who planned out this whole day. And you're the one whoâs taking me out on the Hogsmeade weekend after exams.â Remus supposed it was true. He had planned out the day down to the last detail. He felt very cliche doing it but it was worth it to see the look on Siriusâ face. And to feel Siriusâ lips on his.
âOh alright,â Remus gave in. He was curious now. Sirius handed him a small grey box. Remus cocked his head at him but Siriusâ expression was unreadable. He opened the box and inside it was a silver key and a disposable Muggle camera. Remus picked up the key and turned it over, examining it.
âPads, what is this?â he asked finally. He was afraid he had ruined something. That this was something sentimental that he was supposed to understand.
âItâs a key,â Sirius said. Remus rolled his eyes.
âIâd figured that much out myself, funnily enough,â he said. âWhat is the key to?â
âLook at the camera.â Remus did. He picked it up and, glancing at Sirius to make sure this is what he was meant to do, looked through the photos in the camera.
âAn apartment?â Remus said, still confused.
âOur apartment,â Sirius said. He was looking at Remus, his grey eyes alight.
âWhat?â Remus said, gaping at him.
âOnly if you want it to be,â he added hurriedly. âI just thought⌠Everybody's been talking about living arrangements after school and IâI thought maybe you might like to live together. I mean, I havenât finalised anything yet so we donât have to do this if you donât want to. Or we could still pick a different place. The ownerâs of this one wonât vacate it until August so weâd have to figure something out for the first month and a bit after we graduate but Iâm sure the Potters wonât mind if we stay there for a little while. And Lily and James might want to be alone in the beginning but I doubt theyâd kick us out if we showed up but⌠do you hate it?â He had barely breathed in between words until now. He looked up at Remus nervously, biting his nail.
âAre you kidding me? I love it,â Remus said. âSirius, this is⌠this is incredible. Youâre incredible. Iââ Remus hesitated. He knew what he wanted to say. But he couldnât form the words. âI canât believe you did this.â
âSo youâre saying youâll do it?â Sirius asked. âYouâll move in with me?â
âYeah,â Remus said. âYes, of course I will.â Sirius beamed at him. But then something occurred to Remus. âSirius, you havenât paid anything yet, have you? If you have Iâll pay you back, Iââ
âShh, donât worry about that now,â Sirius said. âWeâll figure out all the technical details later.â Remus bit his lip.
âOkay,â he said. He could put it out of his mind for that night.
âHappy anniversary, Moony,â he said. And then he kissed Remus, there on top of the astronomy tower and Remus felt just as much excitement then as he had when Sirius had kissed him there for the first time, exactly one year previously.
And here they were now. In their apartment. They ended up deciding on the one Sirius had originally chosen, the one that heâd shown Remus photos of that evening. The owners had ended up vacating a bit earlier than they had said because there was still a week until August. Sirius had stayed at the Potterâs for the first few weeks and Remus had gone back home. But as they were spending every waking moment at Lily and Jamesâ house anyway, they suggested that Remus and Sirius just stay with them. They had invited Peter to stay with them too, just while Sirius and Remus were there but heâd turned down the offer (âAfter seven years of sleeping in the same room with three other blokes, I think Iâll be good on my own for a while,â he had said). He still came over every day and stayed until around midnight but he always preferred to sleep at home. He said heâd never get used to it if he stayed at Lily and Jamesâ.
James, Peter and Lily helped them move in too. Theyâd been with them to Ikea a few days previously to buy furniture. And they had come over today to help start unpacking things. Well, Lily and Peter helped unpack. James was more interested in building a fort out of the boxes with Sirius.
Remus remembered worrying that he might spend less time with his friends after school since theyâd no longer be living in the same big castle but so far the amount of time he spent with Lily, James and Peter had not decreased even a little.
But Lily and James had gone home now and Peter had gone back to his studio flat; Remus and Sirius were alone, together in their new apartment.
âAre you hungry?â Sirius asked, snapping Remus back into reality. âI could make you dinner.â
âYouâre going to make dinner?â Remus snorted. âIâm sorry but have you ever made food in your entire life?â
âI have actually,â Sirius said. âMrs Potter taught me how to make food when I lived there. Iâm not as good at it as James is but I can make something edible without burning down the kitchen. Although I nearly did that the first time I tried to make food.â
âWell, thatâs very convincing,â Remus said sarcastically. Sirius elbowed him in the ribs. âIâm kidding!â he said. âIâll be on standby with the fire extinguisher.â
âWhatâs that?â Sirius asked.
âKind of in the name, babe,â Remus said and then he crawled quickly out of the fort before Sirius figured it out and elbowed him again.
But Remus was pleasantly surprised because not only did Sirius manage to not light the whole house on fire, but he even produced some pretty good food.
âYou know, this is quite nice,â Remus said, taking another bite. âMrs Potter must be a really good teacher if she managed to get you to this level of cooking.â
âWhy canât you just have a little bit more faith in my talents, Moony?â Sirius said. âBut yeah, sheâs a great teacher. James, on the other hand, is a terrible teacher. Itâs not that he canât cook because he can. He just canât teach other people to cook. But donât tell him I said that.â Remus snorts.
âAs if you havenât already told him that to his face.â
âYou know me too well,â Sirius sighs.
After dinner, Sirius goes to shower and Remus continues unpacking boxes. The more boxes he unpacks, the more he realises how much crap theyâre missing. But heâs not too worried about it. Theyâll go to the store tomorrow and find whatever it is that theyâre missing. Itâs nothing essential. The only essential thing to Remus in this house is Sirius. As long as Sirius is here, Remus would be fine.
Remus opens another box with a utility knife. He looks inside and his jaw drops.
âRem?â Sirius asks, coming into the room, his hair still wet from the shower. âIs everything okay?â
âYeah, yeah,â Remus says. âLook at this.â He takes out the contents of the box and sets them on the table. Itâs photos. Loads of photos of them from school.
âWow,â Sirius says, looking through the photos. âOh my god.â He holds one of the photos out to Remus laughing. Remus looks at the photo and starts laughing too. Itâs him sitting next to a dog, a stag and a rat. His friends in their animagus forms and him in the middle, smiling awkwardly as Lily takes a photo.
They spent a little longer looking through the photos, laughing at how much they had changed since the first day theyâd met each other in first year. They all looked so little. And now⌠well, now theyâre grown up. Remus didnât feel like it though.
He returned the photos to the box, deciding heâd find a place for them tomorrow. He was reaching another box when Sirius took his hand.
âCome to bed, darling,â he said. âItâs nearly midnight and youâre still unpacking boxes.â
âYeah, okay,â Remus said. He smiled and laced his fingers with Siriusâ.
He showered and put on a massive sweater (despite it being midsummer) and clambered into their new bed, where Sirius was already waiting for him. Sirius pulled him in and kissed his forehead before resting his head against Remusâ chest.
As they cuddle in their brand new bed, in their brand new apartment, Remus is overcome by the urge to tell Sirius, to just say it. To say what he wanted to say months ago on their anniversary but had been too afraid. He doesnât even care if Sirius says it back. He just wants to say the words. He wants Sirius to know. Sirius deserves to know.
He lifts Siriusâ chin with his hand so their eyes meet as he brushes his thumb against Siriusâ cheek.
âI love you,â he says.
âIâ Iââ Sirius stutters.
âAnd you donât have to say it back or anything,â Remus assures him. âI just wanted you to know.â Tears spill from Siriusâ eyes.
âYouâre crying?â Remus said, sounding concerned. âWhatâs wrong?â he asks softly.
âNo, nothing wrong, I justââ Sirius hesitates, sniffing. âThatâs the first time anyoneâs told me that,â he admits.
âThatâs a shame,â Remus says, pressing a kiss to his temple. âIâll always remind you how much I love you. I love you so much, Sirius.â He pulls Sirius into a tight hug. âYou deserve so much love.â Sirius kisses him softly. Itâs a quiet, gentle kiss, tears still flowing freely down Siriusâ face.
âI love you too,â Sirius whispers.
âYou donât have to say it just because I did,â Remus says.
âIâm not,â Sirius said. âI really do love you.â Remus smiles as he feels the blush blooming on his cheeks. And suddenly he canât remember what was holding him back in the first place. He feels like an idiot for waiting so long to say this. He loves Sirius. He loves Sirius with all of his heart and heâs going to make sure Sirius knows it.
