💲(how successful were the restaurants/attractions?) Fredbear's Family Diner was pretty much just a diner. No one outside of Hurricane ever really went to it, but they got enough money each month to pay their mortgage. The pizzeria was more popular, people would sometimes come from a few towns over for a party— it was basically your average Chuck E Cheese before the MCI. Circus Baby's never opened, but if it did, people would be pretty amazed for like, two days before kids went missing.

Fazbear Frights was pretty popular, most of the attendees being angsty teenagers who think they're too cool for Halloween. Halloween had already happened before it got burnt down, so they didn't actually lose too much money. The fake restaurant Henry made got almost NO customers; Mike is absolute shit at running a business, and multiple kids got injured every day. Plus the people always heard random yelling coming from the Employees-Only area lmao.

The Pizzaplex was MASSIVELY popular. Like people came from states away popular. It was also expensive as shit (partly why Gregory broke in) to do literally anything. People honestly barely cared that some kids were missing cause the place is huge. Of course kids get "lost".

🔩(how common were springlock incidents?) They weren't incredibly common, but most employees had it happen to them at least once. Usually though, only one would go off and break a rib, or leave a scar on your thigh. Phone Guy (Paul Scott-Aline) has a whole arm of scars from spilling some soda on it. He broke two bones, but was fine after six weeks or so. Only one was ever fatal, but there was all the legal stuff in their contract that people hadn't heard about it and no one got sued. Again, people weren't really focused on safety in the 70s/80s..

🔩💜(Did william experience a spring lock incident before the fatal one) Yup! Back in 1981, he had one real bad. There wasn't a specific reason, just general lack of maintenance and safety. It didn't kill him, since the head hadn't spring locked, but he still was hospitalized for weeks, and was left with a bunch of scars.

It really freaked him the fuck out, since that was probably the most vulnerable he'd been ever in his life. This was when he started kindaaaaa getting weird even before the BO83. He already had a fear of death (for reasons I haven't thought of yet) but that made it way way worse, and just worsened everything in general. Plus, Evan saw it, which really didn't help his automatonophobia.

Scarlet Welly Boots was inspired by The Amazing Devil's "Welly Boots," with the premise being an epistolary of "letters" from Cosette to a deceased Jean Valjean keeping him appraised of things in her life and asking him the questions she never got the chance to ask. The story would follow her through the pitfalls of adulthood without a parent figure there to guide and her trials and struggles as she figures out who she is and makes peace with everything that happened.

It's a premise I really wanna revisit and make work, but at the time I was deeply unhappy with how it was panning out and decided I would need to read more and grow as a writer before I was ready to handle it the way I wanted.

Lesbian Art Heist had its first draft around 80% finished before I noticed a MASSIVE plothole that would require a total rewrite to correct for. I'd been writing it for a fic exchange (despite wanting to write the base premise since I first encountered it), and with the deadline looming I ended up abandoning it and drafting up Favour instead.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is a fucking nightmare to smuggle things into for the same reason it’s a nightmare to steal things out of: the place is a glorified vault. When her father had organized the team to steal Degas’s Little Dancer of Fourteen Years, ninety percent of the plan had been causing enough confusion that Montparnasse and Claquesous could move the damned thing out to the main gallery and get it through a sky window without drawing too much attention. In the chaos, Éponine had managed to get Gueulemer to unwittingly help her steal a New Kingdom Egyptian collar from storage that, with any luck, won’t be missed for several more months, and, much more regrettably and almost as an afterthought, one of the Benin Artifacts from where archivists had already packed it up.

Her ears still ring from the phantom pain of Cosette’s anguish that Éponine hadn’t known that the Benin Kingdom was not located in the modern day country of Benin. Look, if six weeks of standing around in the Exhibition Room with them hadn’t told her this, maybe it’s the fault of the exhibit.

Her one saving grace in all of this, Éponine thinks as she takes the now-familiar route up the stairs to where an exhibit on 20th century American jewelry has now replaced the Benin Artifacts, is that they don’t seem to realize yet that they’re missing one of their artifacts. It had, of course, been the logic in the last-second swipe: already weighed, measured, and repackaged, no one would know to miss it until the artifacts were already on the next leg of their global tour, at which point museums would be pointing fingers at the movers rather than assuming it had never been there to start.

‘Germany only finally returned them four years ago!’ Damn, maybe not-Benin shouldn’t have been loaning them out so soon then.

‘You have to return it.’ Éponine thinks the fuck not.

(The plothole had to do with underground tunnels, I'm still Big Mad about it.)

Kids weren't an option on the Isle. I mean, they weren't even "officially" together at that time. But before Ben's decision to open the bridge, when they thought they would be stuck on the Isle all their life, they talked about this. Kids are not an option.

But then they go to Auradon, they start to finally feel like home there (90% of the thing is that they're finally together tbh) and suddenly most of the things that were off-limits on the Isle are an option now, and this also includes the possibility of having kids.

She can play cello and piano, and she used to go to concerts with her papa, it was something they both enjoyed and their love of classical music is something they both have in common. After he dies, if she wants to feel close to him, she'll go to the orchestra by herself and sit in the back row and let the music flow over her and maybe she'll cry a little bit but no one is paying attention so it's fine

Gabe who absolutely expects to hate Cosette and is very uncomfortable with his dad having a girlfriend his age, but then Gaston says something particularly cruel to him and Cosette shuts it down so fast, tells Gaston that if he ever says or does anything the slightest bit mean/abusive to Gabe again, she's done and gone

Gabe would be so thrown off by that but Cosette just stays so protective of him (she also has her own tiny hidden cottage and she'd give Gabe a key and tell him to never bring anyone else, but it's always there if he needs a safe place to go to)

that makes me so happy!!!! fic is such a fun and glorious thing <3 i took a two-week break from writing because of a family trip (and then depression kicked me in the ass) but i'm coming back to it today and i am very happy about that :D

since we last talked, i have outlined the fic!! i have a pretty good sense of where it's going, which makes me happy. (there are still LARGE chunks of this fic that are not outlined -- notably the resolution, lmfao -- but i'm hoping those sections will take shape as i get a better feel for the fic as a whole)

also... i wrote one of the most important scenes :D

“Dearly beloved-- well, now I sound like a priest.” Eponine sighs. “You’re thinking about it too hard.” She lets the pen drop. “You have to think about it-- listen, Marius is going to know who you are as soon as he gets the letter. You’re trying to avoid a WhatsApp romance, aren’t you?” Cosette crosses her arms, watching her. “So how would you do it?” “I’d lose the self-consciousness,” she says, bluntly. “This only works if you commit fully.” Cosette shakes her head. “I can’t just stop being anxious. I’ve never talked to him, I don’t even know what his voice sounds like!” “Marius is a romantic,” says Eponine, firmly. “He’ll love whatever you write for him. Look, let me--” She scribbles something down, more focused on displaying relaxation than the quality of her writing. Marius-- I want this to be more than just a summer fling. I don’t know what your voice sounds like, but I know what it feels like to have you live in my heart, in my thoughts, in my life. Will you start this experiment with me? Will something bloom through the pages of our letters? When she glances up, Cosette is staring at her, awed. Belatedly, Eponine says, “Something like that.”
