Episode 7 commentary

Contains major spoilers from the book but y'all probably already know this.

I absolutely love the scene where Seasmoke and Syrax was like conversing. Seasmoke be like, "Look what I found..a new dragon rider!" Then Syrax would be like, "Good for you, he's cute." Also the detail where Seasmoke was like bowing to Rhaenyra while showing her his new rider is really good.

There's something about the scene of Alicent in Kingswood that's hauntingly beautiful. I like that they made the audience think as to whether or not Alicent was there to end herself, or was she just there to clear her thoughts or think of what she's going to do next. The reason why Alicent was written to be some sort of a puppet to her dad was because it will explain why her mental health deteriorated towards the end. Still not much of a fan of how they've written Alicent in the show and I don't know if I'm ever gonna see that side of her that came from the book.

I like Oscar Tully. He knew his vassals would not take him seriously because he is a boy. "Insulting" Daemon, punishing Willem Blackwood and making Daemon "ride along" by killing the latter in exchange of House Tully's loyalty [and army] had benefited the both of them. Daemon gets his army, and Oscar earns the respect of the Riverlords as the new lord paramount.

I REALLY HOPE THAT THIS WOULD BE THE LAST EPISODE OF THE HAUNTING OF HARRENHAL. I know the final episode got leaked on the internet, and I actually saw a scene about Helaena confronting Aemond. Ngl, I love that scene but bitch it ruined the excitement for me. So whoever leaked the episode, fuck you.

Rhaena never had any other dragon aside from Morning, but if she for real is going to claim Sheepstealer then...there wouldn't be Nettles anymore?

I know a lot of people are kinda upset with Jace right now, but I get his point. Yes, it was his idea to find dragonriders for the other dragons but he never really thought that a lowborn with a Targaryen blood (and a bastard of Corlys that no one knows about as of the moment) would be chosen by a dragon, and it's not really Addam's fault. The thing is, if bastards could be dragonriders then they certainly would think that they could claim the throne as well. If Rhaenyra passes, then another war might start (actually, it was pure chaos after Aegon II's death but we'll get to that later on). It's also bad enough that he and his brothers have been the talk of the town since they were born. Despite having the potential of being a good king, he would always be questioned, opposed, and like Jace said he will always have to fight for his position. It would have been easier had he been born looking like his mother, but his dad's genes are Strong unfortunately, and having a dragon is the only thing that proves of his Targaryen heritage--the reason why people respect him. So having bastards for dragonriders is not only a huge slap on his face, but it could also lead to another dance of the dragons.

If Rhaenyra wants to secure Jace's claim to the throne, the only way is to legitimize him. I don't know if it's already a thing in this timeline, but it's the only way to protect him. It's already an unspoken truth anyway. Problem is that, she's just gonna end up like Aegon II whom no one takes seriously. Even if she does her best to be a good mother and queen, people will not look past the fact that she had kids with another man that wasn't her (first) husband. And Daemon being Daemon? Oh, we are sure as hell that he would want his own son to rule in the future hence, another potential war.

Actually, we shouldn't be thinking too much about Jace's ascension to the throne because it will never happen. And Daemon didn't have to fight for his son's claim since he was already gone by the time Aegon III succeeded his uncle (and married Jaehaera).

But let's just pretend that we don't know that for the sake of discussion...unless you haven't read Fire & Blood.

Going back, if Rhaenyra wants peace and stability in her court and amongst her people, then she'd have to name Aegon the Younger her heir since her two youngest sons have always had stronger claim to the throne since birth, but this will destroy Rhaenyra and Jace's relationship.

Aside from his recovery, I wonder if Aegon is also conspiring with Larys already to eliminate Aemond? Or is he letting Larys do everything? But if you think about it, without Aemond and Vhagar the greens will be at a huge disadvantage. Tessarion and Dreamfyre wouldn't suffice unless Aegon pretends to bend the knee and devices a scheme to kill Rhaenyra and her family later on, but that would take so much time, and Aegon doesn't have the patience for that...So Ulf and Hugh betraying Rhaenyra it is then to get Vermithor and Silverwing to their side.

Dragonkeepers doing a mass resignation after Rhaenyra recruited dragonseeds because basically, dragons are sacred blah, blah, blah. These people were born/direct descendants of the Targaryens, therefore magic is in their blood. We all know now that dragons and riders form a bond by either:

Hatching the dragon

The rider successfully claiming the dragon

The dragon chooses its rider

The others who were deemed unworthy ended up being Vermithor's snack. The process of choosing a rider for Vermithor was indeed horrible, but it's only a matter of time before Aemond defeats Rhaenyra so she has to act quickly. But in doing so, she has to make sacrifices. On the other hand it's common knowledge that dragons shouldn't be fucked with, but the reason why the dragonseeds answered the call was because they thought that by claiming a dragon, their lives will change for the better. They were abandoned as children, lived a horrible life, and with the current situation, anyone would jump at any opportunity no matter how risky just to get out of that situation.

Though I wonder what show Rhaenyra would do to make sure none of the dragonriders would betray her, surely there will come a time when they would ask for a reward for their contribution to the war, and it's going to be more than just money.

Emma D'Arcy speaking in High Valyrian is just 🤌🤌🤌🤌 the scene where Rhaenyra was calming Vermithor, and as if they were having some sort of conversation through the mind, and when she opened her eyes, there was power--gods I kept on replaying it. Even the dragon knows who the real queen is. Such a badass scene!

The final cut where Aemond found out that Rhaenyra have 3 more dragonriders now was actually quite funny. The latter looking at her little brother as if saying, "Come at me now motherfucker," is such a big sister thing. But I felt like the dragons were only calling out to meemaw Vhagar as if they were just having some sort of mini reunion 🥺🥺.

Today we will be taking a look at the some more couples in Hollywood to give them a rating. Keep in mind, we're using "couple" loosely. Some of these are exes, situationships, etc. The rating will be out of 10 with points in the following categories loyalty (1), attractiveness (2), power couple (2), compatibility (2), individual personalities (2), public cuteness (1).

COLE AND EVA -

loyalty - Well, we're gonna go ahead and give this a big fat zero. attractiveness - We'd say they're a relatively shaky couple, but they don't really look like people that would've been a couple. We'll give this a 1.5. power couple - They're both successful in their own right, but nothing about them really screams 'traditional power couple', especially when they first got together. compatibility - ...I'm gonna go ahead and score this a .5 because of all of the cheating and nonsense. individual personalities - They both seem good as people. Cheaters and messy? Sure, but outside of that they seem fine, so we'll give them full points for this. public cuteness - I'm going to go ahead and say...no? I can't remember them being cute publicly for a whillee. OVERALL SCORE - 4/10

DAX AND RENATA -

loyalty - We have very little information about this, so we'll give them the benefit of the doubt and give them points for this. attractiveness - This is the weirdest looking couple. I'm going to give this a 1 because they're even less matched up than Eva and Cole. power couple - There is nothing about this couple that is a power couple. Renata is still fairly new to the scene, and Dax has lost any amount of power or relevance..if had any. Zero. compatibility - ...We saw them on Dollhouse. Zero. individual personalities - We're going to give this a 1 because they're both worth half a point. public cuteness - Zero. OVERALL SCORE - 3/10

DECLAN AND WAVERLY -

loyalty - We saw what happened on tv with Sadie and her heatstroke. We'll give this a .25 because Waverly has been loyal. attractiveness - They're both rather attractive, but similarly to the last two..don't really fit with each other? We'll give this a 1.5. power couple - Taking the two of them, they don't really have power couple vibes but the power of Amazon is undeniable. We'll give this a 1.25 because, sorry, we can't justify Declan in this scenario. compatibility - They seem pretty average in compatibility. We'll give this a 1.5, because they don't seem perfect for each other by any means, but clearly they get along. individual personalities - They seem fine. Nothing noteworthy here, so we'll give them the points for it. public cuteness - They haven't really been publicly cute since Declan threatened Elijah. So, zero. OVERALL SCORE - 6.5/10

ZEKE AND STELLA -

loyalty - How are we supposed to judge this with the shakyness of the Cleo timeline? Since that isn't confirmed, we'll give them a 1.75..that .25 is our doubt. attractiveness - They're a fairly attractive couple, and they look like they would be together. power couple - They're both fairly new to the scene, so we'll call it a 1. compatibility - They seem fairly compatible. individual personalities - At times they can be a bit yikes, so we'll give them a 1.25 public cuteness - They're constantly disgusting on the timeline. We'll give them half a point. OVERALL SCORE - 8.5/10

JAE AND JUN -

loyalty - These two seem pretty loyal to each other! We'll give them full points. attractiveness - They're both an extremely attractive couple, and they match up well together. power couple - We can't really say they have the 'vibe' of a power couple, even though they have their own individual powers and career. We'll give them 1 point for this. compatibility - These two seem extremely compatible, aside from the time that Jae said that he wished Jun would whine less. We'll still give them full points. individual personalities - This one depends on who they're asking. We'll give them a 1.75 on this one. .25 because of some of the twitter..nonsense, though that has died down lately. public cuteness - They're not frequently cute publicly, but the way Jun talks about Jae on the pod is cute. We'll give this a .25. OVERALL SCORE - 8/10

FLETCHER AND POPPY -

loyalty - We'll give this a .50 because while Fletcher wasn't loyal, it seems like Poppy was. attractiveness - They're messy, but we can't deny that they're an attractive couple. We'll call this full. power couple - Oh, now, c'mon...this is a power couple. compatibility - They seem to have gotten along on Dollhouse, but its hard to say because they did break up. But their chemistry on Dollhouse was there...hmm.... We'll call it a 1.25. individual personalities - We'll give this a 1.25. Why are we removing the .75? You guess. public cuteness - We'll give this half a point? OVERALL SCORE - 7.50/10

No Luigi, but we need the build-up... I thought this was a one-shot but here we are with a potential love triangle.

You and Luigi are 19 and seniors in college. You two aren't close, but share the same major and extracurricular, being on the Robotics Team. Things are about to change. !slowburn !college !grumpysunshine !luigimangione

loml (part 1) "...You're right, the love of my life might just be a frat bro at this party!! you spit out sarcastically. "Anyway, good seeing you, Mangione" You salute the Robotics prez goodbye as you make your way to join Jamie.

You get to Jamie, and at this point, she'e alone on the dance floor. Looks like her Wednesday Addam's dance scared off the frat boy she was with. Her arms still were swinging violently, and you spotted a few sorority girls snickering against the wall at her.

"Jamie," you yell, "I'm back! I was thinking maybe we should go? I'm getting tired, and you look pretty wasted."

"Y/N nooooooooooo," she slurred. She slung her arms around you. "I'm not drunkkkkkkkk. Can't you dance with meeeee?"

You really wanted to leave, but you would never abandon your friend. Might as well hunker down so she could sober up more.

"Fine," you smile, as you start swaying awkwardly to the music.

You're lost in the music and rolling your hips cheekily at Jamie, but then Thriller comes on. Jamie stops everything and runs to a far corner of the dance floor. She jerks towards you in time to the music, shrugging her shoulders up. You giggle and start doing the Thriller dance towards her, stepping left and right in sync with your arms pawing the sky. In your periphery you see a bunch of sorority and frat dudes staring at you two, but it's all too fun and you don't care.

The song ends and you throw your arms happily around Jamie, giving her a big hug. "Okay, that was so fun," you scream.

"Ughhh Y/N, you smell sooo good," Jamie breathes into your neck. "OMG I really need to pee. Also, can you get me water?"

Oh Jamie.

"Sure, meet in the kitchen after you're done and I'll have some water for you," you tell Jamie. Before you finish speaking, the girl is already zooming upstairs towards the bathroom like a horde of zombies are chasing her.

You make your way to the frat house kitchen. No one else is there. It's relaxing in a weird way being alone and cooling down, while still hearing the bass and muted voices. You get a cup of water for Jamie, then hop onto the kitchen counter to rest your legs and text Jamie to see if she's okay.

"What's a lady doing sitting alone?"

You look up at the voice by the door.

"Jake, hey," your eyes widen. "Do you want to come sit with me?"

Jake is - well, Jake is a specimen of a man. 6'1", dirty blonde hair framing dark eyebrows and dark brown eyes. Smart, a fellow engineering major in your class. Editor-in-chief of the school newspaper. President of the frat your butt is sitting in. Charming womanizer and of course, you've heard the rumors - big down there. Incidentally, your Robotics Team President Luigi's roommate and best friend.

You first got to know Jake because he would sometimes visit Luigi during Robotics Club meetings when the team was building stuff since he wanted to help out. The last time he visited, Luigi told him to fuck off from helping him, so Jake wandered around to your work station and ended up being your assistant while basically flirting with you. You thought nothing of it. This man would flirt with a squirrel. He was fun and insanely charming, a great helper, and you hoped he would come back more.

Although it felt like your relationship with Jake was light-hearted, sometimes it felt... strangely deep in specific moments. The Robotics Club chaos where you two stayed for 4 hours bantering. Him making a passing comment to you last week in the library (you two liked studying in the same Hogwarts-like library in the same room) when he spotted you reading Pride and Prejudice. "Ah, there sits Elizabeth Bennett and her bright eyes in the Upenn library..."

Jake accepted your invite to sit on the counter, and plopped right next to you.

"You didn't answer my question," his dkar eyes pour into yours. You can smell his musky cologne since he's so close. "Why are you here alone? You don't like my party?"

Luigi will be back very soon, but what did we think about Jake? If you can't wait until Part 3 and crave some Luigi, you should play with him on your own and tell me how it goes . Btw you have my permission to take my story ideas or writing to remix on RQ ;)
