Why I Ship Sonic The Hedgehog and Amy Rose?
Hi! I’ve been a Sonic fan since 2022 and wanted to give insight on a beloved pairing from someone who’s only FRESH in this fandom. So I could give a somewhat recent perspective on something others might’ve grown up with.
Disclaimer: This is just my merriment of cartoon madness. Done for fun. It has my everywhere all at once speculations, and opinions. Spat into one big MESS. No problem if you disagree. I wish you all the best in whatever you create with your preferred take on these characters.
I take 0 credit for anything displayed in visuals.
Now, let’s get started!
Reason 1: What Got Me Into Sonamy
I want to recommend people who not only helped me understand the dynamic better, but did so while giving good insight on Amy’s character. Which is one of the most inconsistent in the ENTIRE franchise. Here they are! In no particular order.
Why Amy is a “Strong Female Character” [Sonic The Hedgehog Video Essay]
Channel: Taro Marshmallow on YouTube.
She helped me understand Amy’s character as a whole. I believe it’s important for people to comprehend Amy’s character in order for them to understand or like Sonamy. No one has to, but it sure was eye-opening for me. So, do of it what you will. I advise people to give it a watch for the AMAZING character analysis alone.
Molinaskies: On Tumblr, this person goes into serious analysis on Sonic’s emotional characterization, and Sonamy too. Words can’t describe how much I appreciate this ship the more I read about their dynamic from someone I can tell has fun doing it.
Sherrydoodlez: This person is the reason I became a Sonic and Sonamy fan at the same time. Once I saw her videos, I was HOOKED. She makes cute, fun, and outstanding Sonamy content on her YouTube channel. It’s mostly Boom!Sonamy animations with voice actors on some occasions. She makes other random Sonic animations as well. It’s a feel good channel you can watch to calm yourself as you head into a romantic cafe of servings you never knew you needed. Give her content a watch. It’s a jolly ride.
IDW (Specifically Issue #2 Page 21): I believe this is the statement which changed Sonic’s view about Amy. At the beginning, the blue blur was still on the run when Amy came around. But after fighting robots together and helping the villagers, Sonic admitted having fun. It could mean he grew more comfortable. Or just loves to fight robots regardless of who’s joining him.
Afterwards, Amy realized their negotiation about Sonic coming back to the resistance was a loss. She happily accepted it and accepted Sonic for who he is. Which made the feelings mutual on Sonic’s part in my opinion. He was even bashful while offering her to join him. Showing he didn’t mind having Amy around a bit longer. I know someone else stated this better, but I hope you get the point.
Sonamy is also the one ship that gets the most hints and jokes. From official writers, voice actors, (ESPECIALLY in Japan. Sonic and Amy’s VAs literally sung a love song IN CHARACTER for crying out loud.) X, Boom, Prime, artist, some of the games, and Sega themselves with their marketing.
Fact check me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure in Japan, Amy’s been called Sonic’s “Girlfriend,” plenty of times and some even theorize they're already together in the Japanese version of Sonic Frontiers.
(Which I’m positive is very intentional)
Can’t forget the creator of the characters Naoto Oshima stated on twitter, “Sonic has the eternal heart of a boy, but were he to one day mature, he’d choose Amy.” I believe if any ship in this franchise at least makes the most since, it’s Sonamy. I’m only scratching the surface, but we’d be here forever if I continued.
Reason 2: The Dynamic
I believe Sonamy works romantically and platonically. Sonic and Amy are best friends so their bond is already close in that regard. I think in times of peace they hang out. Which has been shown in IDW in the retail incentive covers of issue 1, 5th Anniversary.
The reason I think Amy’s the best choice for Sonic is because she can always keep up with him. She understands him and reads him like a book.
(Sonic doesn’t express himself very well, so that’d be a huge benefit.)
She brings an array of emotion out of him, and accepts him for who he is.
Amy wouldn’t slow him down because they’re relationship wouldn’t change at all. She’s always just as down for going out and exploring as he is. Being a hot-head, she’s not adverse for a bit of head busting with her hammer. Amy allows Sonic for a chance at a relationship he couldn’t get inattentive or tired in.
They’d go on their usual adventurers and might only tell a few friends about their relationship.
(Or keep it a secret)
After that, they’d travel together or Amy would leave Sonic to whatever he needed to do. In Sonic’s case, he would appreciate Amy’s understanding and return the favor by giving her flowers. Maybe even show minimal affection.
Like in Sonic X when he gives Amy a rose in episode 52. X also had moments where Sonic constantly protects/holds onto her. Not to mention willingly laid on a pile of hey next to Amy. And kept the bracelet she made him in episode 9.
Sonic X isn’t canon, but IDW has moments of Sonic hanging out or fighting alongside Amy too. Point is, the couple would be an updated version of their friendship. A “POWER COUPLE,” to be specific.
Romance doesn’t always mean you have to be lovey-dovey. You can treat your partner like a best friend as well. Sonic and Amy have a unique relationship because they’re subtle about it.
Reason 3: Why?
I believe it’s important to get this out of the way since these are my weird BIGGIES when it comes to shipping. Why Sonic might have a crush on Amy and why Amy loves Sonic?
Sonic’s (Alleged) Reasons: Amy doesn’t want to change him. She can keep up with him. She’s super compassionate and energetic.
(Sonic stated she was “sweet’ before.)
He respects and might even values her ways of thinking. In TMOSTH, he said:
In Prime he admits she’s, “Pretty great.”
And, he said in IDW Issue #58:
These can be seen as platonic compliments, but it’s the “Accepting Sonic for who he is” thing that homes in the mutual romantic feelings head-canon.
I’d even argue ever since Unleashed/Black Night he had a little crush on her, but felt unsure of it. That is, until IDW. He might still have no clue what to do next.
Sonic lines in Frontiers : “Amy, I should’ve made up my mind sooner.” and “Wish we were sharing an umbrella, Amy.” are huge examples of that and his reciprocated feelings.
Fun Fact: Sharing an umbrella as a couple in Japan is considered a romantic expression, and teens often draw an umbrella with their name and the name of their crush, the way one would in a heart. A very old tradition.
Sharing an umbrella has been seen as a romantic thing in a few American movies as well.
Here’s another detail I find hilarious. I LOVE in instances like Amy being, “The Lady Of The Lake” in Black Night. The time she ran away from Sonic in Unleashed, and became split versions of herself in Prime. The blue buffoon acts as if he grew more fond and I’d even suggest “attracted” to her. He either flirts with her or gets disappointed. To me, it’s a check on the, “Bringing a wide range of emotion out of him,” point.
In issue #2 of IDW it’s similar. Sonic asked Amy to join him. Then she admits being away from the resistance for too long. I’d say it’s a weirdly consistent thing. The times Sonic acts ready to “open up,” he and Amy end up having to save the world and go off to do their own thing.
(That panel in The Metal Virus with Sonic reaching to Amy while she’s freaking out, still hurts.)
Is this a sign they may need to take their time? Fortunately, we have additional content with them interacting outside those situations. I guess the hedgies are allowing each other to be their own person before committing to anything.
Like a “when they know, they’ll know,” situation.
Last thing. Sonic hugs Amy in both IDW and Frontiers. Never happened in official canon before, so his feelings must’ve changed into something.
Amy’s Reasons: He’s her inspiration and motive for loving adventures. Sonic gives Amy an excuse to show off her skills. And she admires his personality.
By the way, can we just appreciate how Amy loves Sonic for the right reasons? Not looks, popularity, or fortune. He always and forever will be her number one.
Reason 4: Conclusion
This isn’t everything, but I’m sure new content will give me new reasons to love this pair. I just wanted to take MOST of what’s already established and use it for a basic understanding.
As basic as overwhelmingly extra can be.
I don’t know whether or not Sonamy will be canon and that’s fine. To me, it’s semi cannon already and there’s a bunch of talented people who create Sonamy stories.
In actual media, their relationships grows stronger and stronger. Which I’ll dub, “Untouched reciprocation,” which is common in videos game ships.
I see Amy and Sonic as best friends with crushes on each other and find that very fascinating. The hedgehogs can just be.
Though on twitter in February 2023, someone asked about Sonic and Amy’s relationship. Then Mario Kishimoto (The director of Sonic Frontiers ) answered, “Sonic is single. But what about a lover? What about Amy? I’m also looking forward to seeing what kind of love Sonic will have in the future.”
Doesn’t prove much, but it could mean Sonic Team is interested in developing this relationship more. Whatever that indicates, I’m intrigued.
All in all this is why I love Sonamy. Hope you enjoyed my over analyzed essay
Stay Creative! 💙💖

What We Get Wrong About Dark Sonic
I find Dark Sonic incredibly interesting.
I’ve said this before, but Dark Sonic represents an overflow of Sonic’s negative emotions, the ones he usually suppresses: anger, sadness, and fear.
However, many people believe that Dark Sonic is somehow a betrayal of Sonic as a character (even Ian Flynn, reportedly, but I’ve yet to see an official source). Sonic is meant to be a beacon of optimism. Sonic is meant to be the pillar of hope when all else fails. Sonic is meant to be the last one standing, no matter what.
In this sense, sure, Dark Sonic contradicts the notion that Sonic is “uncorruptable,” but I think that depends on how we define corruption.
I see it two ways:
1) Corruption by way of losing faith, through dishonesty and fraud. 2) Corruption by way of a forceful shift from one state of being to another.
In the first sense, corruption occurs when someone’s paradigm is shifted through lies, cheating, or manipulation. It’s a conscious mental shift. In the second sense, corruption occurs when something (or someone) is co-opted and changed without its will or influence, like data corruption, or a shift in the meaning of a word or image. It’s a literal, physical and/or metaphysical shift.
There’s a saying that floats around the fandom that says, “Shadow is just ‘Sonic, if Sonic had one really bad day’,” and I think that makes sense. Shadow is jaded and cynical because of how the world has hurt him, but he still wants to do right by people—just like Sonic. What separates Sonic from Shadow, however, is Sonic’s tenant optimism and positive paradigm. Without those differences, Sonic has endless reasons to be as cynical as Shadow, or even more so.
So, Sonic doesn’t let himself feel those feelings for very long, and especially not when other people are around. He pours everything into a clean, neat bottle, with a tight screw-on cap, right?
What happens when something tampers with that bottle?
Dark Sonic is a forceful corruption of body but not of mind. Let’s talk about it.
How Dark Sonic Works
What I think people misunderstand most about Dark Sonic is that it’s not an intentional state of being. It never was.
Dark Sonic is the polar opposite to Super Sonic, which is achieved when Sonic harnesses the positive energy of the Chaos Emeralds. If Sonic wanted to harness the power of the emeralds for the wrong reasons and his heart accessed the negative energy rather than the positive, he could possibly bring about Dark Sonic willingly. This, however, would likely never happen because that is the betrayal of Sonic’s character that everyone worries about.
That said, the only reason Dark Sonic ever appears is because of a mix of Sonic’s pure rage over Black Narcissist physically assaulting Chris and Cosmo and the presence of hundreds of the Metarex’s fake Chaos Emeralds, which possess an aura clearly shown to impact Sonic and make him ill.
Sonic’s first interaction with negative Chaos energy from the fake emeralds is filled with discomfort and even disgust. Sonic reacting to the negative Chaos energy poorly is critical, as it showcases that it’s seeking him out, not vice versa.
When Sonic was as triggered as he was, the negative energy from the fakes harnessed his emotions and corrupted him. It was a complete, freak accident.
This situation is very similar to Darkspine Sonic, the in-game equivalent to Dark Sonic from Sonic and the Secret Rings. Darkspine Sonic only surfaces when Sonic is severely triggered after Shahra starts to betray him, Erazor Djinn murders her (she sacrifices herself for Sonic), and he sees Erazor Djinn’s final form about to destroy the storybook world. In his shock and anger, the Secret Rings of Sadness, Rage, and Hate target him, painfully turning him into Darkspine Sonic. Once again, external energies corrupt him at the height of his emotional vulnerability.
Sonic never seeks out the negative energy of the Chaos Emeralds because his heart is good. When the negative energy seeks him out in such overwhelming waves, it corrupts his abilities, alters them, and pulls them out to play.
But—
If it’s simply a matter of fake Chaos Emeralds, then why can Sonic use Tails’ fake Chaos Emerald in Sonic Adventure 2 without any problems? I posit this to the fact that Tails might have a better understanding of the balanced nature of the Chaos Emeralds (in that they are powered by both good and evil), while Eggman and Dark Oak have only ever used (or desired to use) the Chaos Emeralds for evil.
Recall Eggman’s laser at the beginning of Sonic Unleashed and Perfect Chaos in Sonic Adventure. Both uses of the chaos emeralds drained them of their power—their negative power, that is. (Albeit through different means based on the lore of each game), Sonic is still able to restore and harness the emeralds’ power because he relies on the positive energy of the emeralds. As intelligent as he is, I imagine that Eggman (as well as the Metarex) has a hard time replicating the intricate nature and balance of the Chaos Emeralds because their hearts are filled with hatred and turmoil, so unwilling to heed the perspectives of others. The power is there, sure, but not the heart.
~Chaos is power. Power is enriched by the heart~
Tikal's Prayer
I think the difference between Tails’ fake emerald and every other fake emerald we’ve seen in canon is marked by the fact that both Eggman’s and the Metarex’s fakes disintegrate after excessive use (i.e., Chaos Control), but Tails’ fake remains intact.
The Metarex's emerald disintegrates upon excessive use
Eggman's fake emeralds can't hold their form upon excessive use
Tails' fake emerald is intact and ultimately used to stop the Eclipse Canon from firing
In short, Tails’ emerald is simply a better fake, more accurate to the originals.
also, I refuse to talk about how dumb it is that Sonic was able to use a fake Chaos Emerald to do Chaos Control for the first time. However, it is canon, and therefore relevant to my point.
Another key problem cited in Sonic X is just how many fake emeralds there are. One emerald pales in comparison to hundreds. Sonic feels all the latent negative energy consume him because that energy is a corruption, itself.
It’s not that Sonic gets so angry that he just gives in to darkness, it’s that darkness captures him when he’s in extreme emotional distress and his guard is down. Dark Sonic is the result of negative, unstable, potent Chaos energy clinging to him, using his latent Chaos powers as a vessel when he least expects it and, thus, is powerless against it.
I think I can best prove this by contrasting Dark Sonic with Sonic’s other intimate encounter with darkness…
Sonic Unleashed, Dark Gaia, and the Werehog
I’ve spoken at length about this game and this specific scene, already, so kindly forgive my hyper-brief summary this time around!
When Dark Gaia’s “weight issues” cause its essence to disperse around the globe, many people fall influence to Dark Gaia’s despair, losing faith and hope in the world. Nothing like the influences of Chaos energy, but enough of an influence that much of the world feels it. A core aspect of the game’s plot is that Sonic, distinctly, does not. In the cutscene No Reason, Sonic asks Chip why he stays the same despite the darkness inside his heart while so many others change at night. Chip answers simply, saying that Sonic’s too strong to lose himself and that part of his good will is because he never doubts himself, even when he’s on his own.
The difference is that while Sonic undergoes a physical transformation, he never loses faith or gives up hope—made especially clear by the fact that Professor Pickle, once as hopeful as Sonic, eventually does lose hope.
Also key to note that Amy also never loses hope.
Unleashed is just another fun, high-stakes adventure for Sonic; there’s never a moment where he’s aggressively triggered by something or when his personal morals are ever tainted. Irritated, maybe. Flustered, even. Never at a loss. The closest we see Sonic come to this is when he loses the werehog form to Dark Gaia before the final battle. He falls to his knees, worn and exhausted, and tells Chip to run because he doesn’t want him to get caught up in the mess. Yet even then he’s not giving up.
That’s why Sonic’s heightened emotional state is so important to the conversation. When Sonic’s will is intact, he’s much stronger, but when he’s triggered by something and his defences are down, it’s much easier for corrupting forces around him to take hold.
Mind over Matter
Even with the parameters for Dark Sonic’s appearance established, something that stands out to me about Sonic’s encounters with dark energies, and something I see as additional evidence that Dark Sonic is only a literal, physical corruption and not a corruption of his paradigm, is that Sonic is still in control of himself—to an extent.
Even as he seethes in his amplified rage, Dark Sonic never inflicts harm on the innocent. After Gold and Silver are destroyed, it’s not expressly clear if Sonic intends to stop or fight Black Narcissist, but Eggman implies that Sonic was fighting Gold and Silver until there was quite literally nothing left. Sonic was given a target to attack, and he kept his focus there, even when other enemies presented themselves.
This also goes for the Werehog and Darkspine Sonic.
He also has the mind to listen to reason—from Eggman, of all people—and stop when it’s clear that he’s finished what he set out to do. Sonic channels his anger to where it needs to be, and it’s clear that Sonic’s moral code and paradigm on life are thoroughly intact.
The only thing that changes is that he’s no longer imposing his usual limits. Sonic is stupidly powerful, even without any power ups. If he ever wanted to kill Eggman, he would have by now. If he ever wanted to kill anyone, he would have by now (and technically, he has).
Sonic throws Erazor Djinn's lamp into a pit, never to resurface, effectively trapping him and ending his livelihood indefinitely.
However, Sonic holds back because he doesn’t want to be an arbiter of justice—he doesn’t want to deprive someone’s chance to be good unless it’s been clear that they cannot be redeemed.
Why I Care About This
It is no secret that I believe that Sonic is a highly emotional character—far more emotional than many give him credit for. It bears repeating that Sonic’s emotions are very big and can be cataclysmic when left unchecked…
…but that’s just part of growing up—growing up as a hero and, damn it, even just a kid.
Dark Sonic isn’t a case of Sonic giving himself to darkness, nor is it a perversion of Sonic’s character. It’s an energetic, chaotically-charged version of Sonic when he is at his angriest—and even then it’s not enough to change his morals or make him lash out unjustly.
Dark Sonic is cathartic, in a way, and I definitely think it deserves its place in canon.

Honest to god, it really was just Sonic Unleashed. That’s it. That’s all I played. My family hated it because of the doorbell sound on the QTEs 😂
Though, some honourable mentions include:
- the last of us
- GTAV
- Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games (DS story mode)

Hello! I'm a Brazilian fan and I love your work so much! Congratulations on that! I'd like to ask you what's the best Sonamy fanfic you've ever read and what's the best you've ever done in your opinion? It's okay if it's in English and I'm sorry if I wrote something wrong, I'm still not a professional in the language ❤️
I get a lot of fanfic questions so I figured I'd lump them all together here. Also, @blsantos your English is great, please don't apologize :) Honestly, some of the best fanfics I've ever read are sent to me as recommendations anonymously. So please, always send me your recs!
On that note, I want to specifically send 1,000 kisses to the anon above who recommended "I Love You - Come With Me" by @molinaskies
"I Love You - Come With Me" by @molinaskies was one of those stories where I wasn't sure what to expect, but as soon as I started reading it I PHYSICALLY COULD NOT STOP until I finished it. It has not only romantic love but self love. It's healing and cathartic. The author nailed the intricacies of Sonic's and Amy's characters.
"Subliminal" by @maddiebat takes place post-Sonic Frontiers and ahhh it just makes my heart explode. I can see this fic actually happening in canon! It will pull on your heart strings, I guarantee it.
"Late Night Talks" by @luescris takes place during the Metal Virus arc of the IDW comics. I haven't read the comics yet but I was aware of that arc enough for this story to make sense. I loooooove touch-starved themes and this fic really hit it outta the park!
"Birthday Surprise" by Shteph is a BLAST! It's a one-shot but it is filled with tons of great moments and humor and romance. There are scenes in this fic that legitimately gave me butterflies and had me kicking my feet and squealing 🥰
If you haven't read "What Was Stolen" by @beeextraordinary123 you are DEPRIVING YOURSELF! For the love of all that is good, go read it! If you aren't aware of it, it's an AU where Amy is a princess who meets a dashing blue thief 😉 It's full of all the delicious angst you could ever want with tons of romance and fantastic character exploration. I've physically sobbed over this story.
If you're looking for something short and sweet, check out "Late Night Texts" by @paddy-nic. It's one of those stories that gives me second-hand giddyness.
These are just some of the fics that have been on my mind recently and I hope you enjoy them as much as I have! And again, please always send me recommendations. I'm always looking for good sonamy fics. I live and breathe for these cotton-candy dorks.
-
As far as my own fics, I write a lot but I don't post much of what I've written. Of the fics I have posted so far, my favorite is Bubbles and Blush. There's no drama, it's just slice of life with pre-established sonamy and LOTS of lovin'. I had a whole lotta fun with that one!
Also for those interested, I am on AO3!

Understanding Lanolin
(First time doing an analysis, so I hope y’all like it!)
Hey all, it’s been a minute hasn’t it?
With Issues 63 and 64 of the IDW comics for the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise having released, it’s caused quite a lot of division amongst the Sonic fanbase, in regard to one new character in particular: Lanolin the Sheep.
And hoo boy, it has not been pretty.
A while back, I sent an ask to a user by the name of @molinaskies (btw go check her out if you’re into analyses of Sonic’s character and Sonamy fanfics!) about her thoughts on Lanolin, and she replied with a post stating why she wasn’t a fan of her character.
Now, I believe that everyone has the right to like, dislike, or be neutral towards whatever or whoever they want, including Sonic characters. If you don’t like Lanolin, that’s totally fine by me and I respect your opinion.
However, due to all the ridiculous hate she has been receiving lately, I feel obligated as a Lanolin fan to state my own reasoning and analysis behind her character. As such, this post will be meant to serve as an understanding towards Lanolin and her character.
Now, before we go any further…
This is not meant to come off as forcing my opinion onto molinaskyes or anyone else! We all have the right to our own opinions, and we should all be allowed to like/dislike whatever characters we want to! This is just a post stating my opinion and reasoning behind Lanolin, nothing more, nothing less!
Alright, with that out of the way, let’s begin!
Who is Lanolin?
To put it short, she’s a sheep from the IDW comics who started out as a background character in the form of another Restoration volunteer and eventually worked her way up to the rank of a primary protagonist in Issue #57, taking on the role as leader of the Restoration’s new task force, the Diamond Cutters.
Her first ever appearance in the comics is Issue #2, where Sonic and Amy are doing a formidable job defending Riverside Village (Lanolin’s hometown), which is being hoarded by badniks, until Lanolin runs in, informing them of an incoming army from the west. She’d then help evacuate the citizens into the bunker and assist in taking down the army.
Since then, she’s made plenty of background appearances throughout the comics, helping citizens, taking care of various tasks at Restoration HQ, or just chilling (which, given her character, is pretty rare).
Lanolin’s Flaw
Fast-forward all the way to Issue #57, where Lanolin gets her chance in the spotlight, and from there, along with further issues, we get a better look at her character.
She gets startled quite easily, doesn’t approve of recklessness, and prefers to operate with a proper plan. She also has a more stoic and serious personality compared to the other characters, which I feel is a nice change of pace, and can come off as bossy to others (which I’ll dive more into later.)
She wasn’t like this in her previous appearances before 57, and I believe the reason can be attributed to the trauma the Metal Virus, as well as other minor disasters seen in the comics had on her. She doesn’t want anyone to feel scared and helpless again, which is why she formed the Diamond Cutters, and why she doesn’t seem to take well to things going wrong.
In Issue #58, she looked defeated because of the scouting of Eggperial City going wrong, and in Issue #63, she snapped at Sliver because of the training mission getting out of hand with the boulder incident (more on that in a second.)
Lanolin doesn’t know how to adapt to the unexpected, and it’s a flaw she’ll need to overcome in the future, or she may meet the same fate as a certain platypus.
Lanolin’s Perspective
Now then, onto what I’ve been wanting to talk about most: her actions and perspective in 63 and 64.
In the past three issues that have released thus far, we, the readers, have full knowledge of everything that’s been happening.
We know that Mimic has joined Clutch and disguised himself as Duo the Cat to infiltrate the Restoration and join the Diamond Cutters, so that he could get close enough to get revenge on Tangle and Whisper. We know that he sabotaged the team’s training session by kicking Silver (which Whisper managed to notice) and causing the boulders and the flood. And we know that he made Silver look bad by falling off the chair he was controlling and made it look like he had attacked him.
But Lanolin doesn’t.
From her perspective, Duo is just a new recruit who wants to make a difference and is expected to make a few mistakes. She sees him as someone she used to be. It’s why she took Duo’s side in Issue 63, when Silver accused Duo of ditching him while he was struggling to restrain the Giant Chopper from consuming him whole, because to her, Duo had only been to overwhelmed by the situation to do anything, and from her view, Silver was the one responsible for the accident, someone she had expected better control from, given his experience.
Now before you all go “OH WHAT DOES LANOLIN KNOW?! SHE’S JUST A NEWBIE AND SILVER’S THE EXPERT ON PSYCHOKINESIS! HE SAVED THE WORLD MULTIPLE TIMES!” Yes, we know he’s more talented than everyone gives him credit for. But Lanolin doesn’t. She doesn’t share the same history with him that everyone else does. If she did, she’d know that Silver would never lose control that easily unless something (or in this case, someone) sabotaged him, thus leading her to also suspect Duo.
And the same applies to 64. Lanolin asked Silver and Whisper for proof, they only responded by trying to assault who to her, was just an innocent individual who felt helpless and scared, something she never wanted anyone to feel. From her perspective, a powerful psychic and an experienced mercenary were accusing a new recruit of being some shapeshifting murderer, without even bothering so much as to offer a tad smidge of evidence that Duo was indeed a shapeshifting murderer.
And before you go: “WELL THAT DOESN’T EXCUSE HER ATTACKING WHISPER AND HER ATTITUDE!” Whisper literally made the first move by grabbing Lanolin’s arm! She was simply trying to defend herself and be rational, stating that they needed to talk about her problem as a team! As for her remark calling herself a soldier, this is one of her flaws, her bossiness, coming into play here! She’s not a perfect person, none of them are! She’s a flawed character, who’s experienced in certain aspects of leadership, but is still new to being a hero.
Silver accusing people at random isn’t anything new; we’ve seen it before in Sonic 06 and the Traitor Arc in the Archie Comics (which I personally haven’t read myself), and the reason why Whisper was too quick to act was because this is Mimic, the guy that killed the closest thing she had to a family! You really think she was just going to stand there and let him do it again? Yes, she should have acted reasonably but she let her emotions get the better of her. And it’s because of that that Duo was able to remove any suspicion.
And before you ask “WELL WHY DID LANOLIN VOTE TO KICK SILVER OUT BUT NOT WHISPER?! SHE ACCUSED DUO TOO!”, I beckon you all to look at this scene here.
Duo tricked everyone into thinking that Silver was the one who attacked him, not Whisper. Had Whisper been with Silver, it’s likely she would’ve been kicked out as well.
A villain’s plan to manipulate can only work if someone’s fallen for the bait, and Lanolin is indeed one of those people. I imagine once he gets caught, Lanolin’s gonna learn from this and she and Silver will make up and all will be good.
Lanolin and Tangle
One more thing that people’s miscomprehension has annoyed me about: the dynamic between Lanolin and Tangle.
In @molinaskies' post on Lanolin, she stated that Lanolin has an objective problem with Tangle and would go as far as to replace her. And I’m going to try to not sound too harsh here, but NO? SHE DOES NOT??
In Issue #58, Tangle was the one to comfort Lanolin when she felt defeated during the Eggperial City mission, and in Issue #59, Lanolin nearly sacrificed herself to save Tangle from the dimensional traps! And that whole gag with the pong-pong ball and Lanolin swatting it away in Issue #62 was literally just that: a gag! Lanolin definitely gets irritated by Tangle, but she doesn’t outright hate her! Would someone who wants to replace a teammate nearly get themselves killed to save said teammate?!
Conclusion
Wow, that was longer than I imagined.
I’m sorry if I ever came off as harsh during my analysis, but it just irks me that most of the fanbase won’t bother trying to see scenes from different perspectives, and it feels like they don’t tolerate flawed characters at all.
In the end, though, you’re all free to like or dislike Lanolin if you want. Everyone has the right to their own opinion. But at the very least, you should learn to properly comprehend perspectives and realize that none of these characters are perfect.
I hope my analysis brought you all some insight, and I’ll catch you all later.

What kinda Fanfics do you like? Any particular ships you like or dislike?
Just wanna know incase I find any I think you might like.
Ok first,Thank you for asking! 🖤
And second: Honestly? As long as its SFW, i'm down for anything! from a cute short fluff to a long dramatic series,if i think its well written then i'll enjoy it.
The sfw rule is not an absolute. I also like to read sad ones from time to time and i'm ok with topics that are related to depression and trauma as long as they are despicted in humane, empathetic ways and aren't there just for torture. Violence is fine by me too as long as its part of the action and it serves the narrative (No body horror or gore pls). When it comes to ships,i'm cool with any as long as they aren't problematic. My fave romantic fic at the moment is "I love you/Come with me" by Molinaskies, in case you want a reference of what kind of stuff from that genre i enjoy.
So yeah,if you find something that fits this criteria and you think it's good, feel free to send it my way. Thanks again!

Punch: Do exactly as you like. A soul naturally seeks pleasure, consciously or not. That is the true meaning of pleasure. Pleasure leads to joy and joy leads to happiness.
Ephemer: You two can't do this! The sacrifice will be too great in the future if you destroy these X files!
Punch: I did tell you in the past when we were classmates non-humans. It's a tragedy when darkness takes over someone's heart. I know that all too well...because I've seen those that I cared about, my closest allies, drown in darkness...this isn't some heroic tale the battle between who was right or wrong like you saw in world war. It's about honouring the dignity of those with hearts.
Ephemer: .............
As you see in Announce8: Link (Why Punch and King Gilgamesh never hesitate to eradication or genocide).
Sonic, Punch and Gilgamesh enjoy human pleasure in both good and bad. Sonic enjoys because by nature Sonic's pure heart loves this world and nature. Punch enjoys it because she hates this world but simultaneously cares about her friends and her mother. Gilgamesh enjoys this because he both hates and loves humans and wants the best for them so that can continue to live on in their legacy.
Start with Sonic first, Sonic X Episodes 40 & 41 are the best examples of Sonic's actions and his judgment of humans. Remember this one?
Sonic X, episode 40 – the sunshine ball saga, where Sonic’s support is taken for granted by molinaskies
And if you remember what I wrote relationship between Sonic and Eggman in Sonic Prime.
Sonic's view never saw that "betray" would be considered a bad guy. This is an important characteristic that means "free like wind". That is, no theory or law tells you whether you are good or bad. Sonic is the observer who can read the subconscious or real nature of their minds.
Sonic: Maybe I can reason with him. Shadow: Reason with him?!
I always said that Sonic was sad not because Nine betrayed him but Sonic sad because of him that made Nine become like this.
That's why Sonic never killed Dr Eggman even if he could. You can see how fun Sonic kick Eggman's butt. Remember Eggman is the first human that Sonic ever met and by nature Sonic loves humans. Sonic chooses to not kill Eggman but to watch him how human's emotions even his actions. This is called enjoying human pleasure. The reason Eggman hate Sonic is not because Eggman is evil but because Sonic's so mean and bullies Eggman. That's how happens.
Next is Gilgamesh, Even Gilgamesh would never invade a situation if it wasn't necessary. Gilgamesh also had to keep an eye on them as an observer.
Even Gilgamesh, Punch and Sonic had the same brain cells "I am perfect and cool". But they still never trust themself that they're always right. They need to be careful.
By far the relationship between Gilgamesh and BB is kind of similar to Sonic and Eggman by some point. Gilgamesh very much enjoys teasing enemies and even bullies them. Yes…..Gilgamesh's so mean like Sonic.
To see how mean they are but they still care for friends and foes. They never judge whether to trust or not or feel betrayed. You can see they are always given a second chance for humans and friends. This is the reason why Sonic isn't too trusting, he's always before doing action in his judgment despite how hot-headed and bad-tempered he is. Despite Gilgamesh can kill anyone in the Fate franchise(Even making the game over with unreasonable reasons) but if you know him better, you will know he had already a reason behind his silence. That's why Sonic X Episodes 40 & 41 are the best examples. As Sonic's Mirror Tower-destroying rampage continues, the President decides to send G.U.N. out to stop him with Rouge and Topaz. However, on the way, Rouge and Topaz come across the transmitter controlling the Egg Moon, but are unable to damage it. Meanwhile, Eggman reveals that his Sunshine Balls are transmitting a hidden brainwashing signal to convince the citizens to support him and turn against Sonic. Sonic reveals that the Egg Moon can't possibly block the sunlight all the time, because the Earth is rotating, the moon is rotating around the Earth, and the two are both revolving around the sun. If the Egg Moon had really stopped moving, the rotation would allow for sunlight most of the time; therefore, Eggman is lying and controlling the Egg Moon.
youtube
Note: If you continue to play Fate/Extra CCC, you can see Gilgamesh's a polite person. And you have to understand that Gilgamesh calls humans by the names of animals like rats, dogs etc. If you know Sonic, Sonic see everything as equal. He even respects nature which can't talk or walk but Sonic know nature has hearts so they're equal as well. In the same way as Gilgamesh, gods, humans, animals, souls or aliens are equal in his view. Despite Punch hating this world she still sees equality in them that's why these three don't care to sit on somebody else throne.
And Sonic, Punch and Gilgamesh share the same brain cells. Very proud of themself.
Continue to this one
#Sonic's trusting#Just you know Sonic Punch and Gilgamesh are hot-headed and bad-tempered. That's how arrogant and childish they are.(And how mean they are)#And that's why Sonic X Episodes 40 & 41 are the best examples.#This is an important characteristic that means “free like wind”.#I also ask myself why the hack Sonic Punch and Gilgamesh#are the protagonists of the Tsubasa of Phantasia's story anyway? These 3 are disasters. Not a good boss and a good character.#Even Gilgamesh Punch and Sonic had the same brain cells “I am perfect and cool”.#But they still never trust themself that they're always right. So this has been the back of my mind that I need to get off my chest. do you see Sonic interested in having kids in the future?? I know he doesn't wanna be tied down and having children probably will but I can see Amy desiring one and this will kinda conflict between the two. Curious to know your thoughts.
Thanks for the ask!
Hmm, to be honest, I think Sonic would want kids, but not for a very long time.
I also believe the concept of “being tied down” in this context is a bit of a misnomer. I truly think that Sonic and Amy, as an eventual partnership, are travellers. I think they both seek adventure. Even with an eventual kid or two, those hogglets are gonna be some of the most cultured children in the world because they will have seen it all. Twice. (After a few stabilizing years at the start of life, of course.)
Even in times where the family needs some stability, Sonic can just… run. Be free. Go literally anywhere he wants and be back in time for dinner.
What’s important to remember is that he’s not having kids, like, tomorrow. Buddy needs, like, 15 years to acclimate to the concept of children, let alone create them lol
#eventually perhaps!#but not for a long time#molinaskies#molina asks#sonic the hedgehog#amy rose#sonamy#sth#sonic#sonic fankids#sonamy fankids#sonamy fan kids

Honest to god, the delicate ways this comic has proven it can artfully toe the lines of censorship genuinely amazes me.
Someone on this app said some time ago that Ian Flynn (and Evan Stanley) do a very good job at writing lines that are vague enough that they can ensure plausible deniability to SEGA but specific enough that the fans fully understand their intentions, and I completely agree.
But writing for comics also includes scene design, and what truly amazed me about this issue is how well coded it is that Surge is actively drowning (and electrocuting) Sonic with complete intentions of ending his life without showing his head under water once (for that would be “going too far”).
Exhibit A: foreshadowing with explicit mention of drowning
Exhibit B: The gasp for air with action lines alluding to his rising above the water
and
Exhibit C: direct answer to the previous forshadowing call with mention of the gnarly puddle
Exhibit D: this gorgeously illustrated page that shows it ALL with nothing—Surge pinning Sonic to the ground, her towering over him, the positioning of her arm, the fear in Sonic’s eyes (in both the triangle panel and the bottom right corner), the hand that grips to nothing but itself, the fact that it’s all blue
I’ve said this before, but the additional fact that Eggman’s device malfunctioning is the only thing that saved Sonic’s life is not only a masterclass of how to display such a complicated issue (that is, that Eggman is both the cause and saving grace of all this), but the way it’s illustrated alludes to the central conflict that Surge reinforces—Surge and Sonic cannot coexist. Sonic will die, or Surge will die trying, and either way, by Sonic’s moral standards, he cannot win.
Stunning.
(Whether the comic will commit to this by killing Surge off, I’m doubtful, but I also wasn’t expecting Starline to be c r u s h e d, so—)
So, Ian Flynn commented on this panel…
