I just know that Videl pretty much had to raise herself. And I think that she did a pretty fine job of it. But I also think that there are things inside of her that she is not aware of just becasue she had to mold herself to be a very specific way in order to make sense to her own self-evaluation and cognition, which A.) Has been varying degrees of immature her whole life as she wasnt an adult until she was, and B.) Has created a report rife with fallacies, mis-evaluations, and repression, becasue living in line with what makes "logical sense" to your higher cognitive faculties completely skips over and shits on all the rest of you that is a living animal that operates in ways that your textbooks domt represent.
But shes done a pretty good job of raising herself because by nature she is observant and calculative and cool, and she takes things at her own pace, and she honors herself enough to have a sense of a comfortable pace to begin with. And bit by bit I think that shes found satisfaction for her curiosities and needs as they arise. She learns over her childhood who's a resource, where to find them, and when to use them; and she always relies on herself as a resource, which HONESTLY is the most important thing, I think that that understanding has kept her from falling into pits of helplessness. It's a tango of nature and nurture and shes made out alright TBH.
Her only living parent is Mr Satan and like LITERALLY his ""parenting style"" is just NOT compatible with her personality. She has a lot of questions and is not afraid of the oddities of the world, whereas Mr Satan strongly prefers to just Not Answer Questions and to say things like "dont you worry your pretty little head about all that" and he constructs a dome of denial and comfort around his world and that is just like .... The bane of somebody competent and curious like Videl is.
But hes still her dad so growing up she persistently tried to make a resource out of him. Sometimes he responded negatively to questions, and as a kid Videl didnt know why (it was the sort of questions that directly or indirectly made him feel insecure or weak, or were about a subject that he habitually avoided rather than pondered), but the rest of the time he ACTED AS IF he was there for her, cared about her a lot, and wanted to help with anything he could.
And that's true enough. He was defintiely there to offer comfort. IF he wasnt busy with something else.
Over time though Videl learns that sometimes, his answers just suck. Sometimes he has no answers. Sometimes he cant explain things in a way that makes any goddamn sense to her (a rational mind). Sometimes he sends her away. Other times he leaves the room. Sometimes he DOES offer answers, and they make sense. It's just not reliable.
So Videl learns to find and rely on other resources; mainly teachers and library books.
But she never wrote him off completely. Because he still has answers sometimes, and she still cares about his opinions.
UNTIL. One day. When shes like 12. Growing up, growing smart, the world is changing a lot to her. She has some question about something or another, and she asks her dad, and he has more life experience than her, and he gives her an answer. Ok, cool. She feels like it's a satisfying answer. She feels like it makes sense, and she trusts her judgement on that.
And usually she leaves it at that, but for some reason, she ends up asking a teacher the same question. Maybe there was something subtle about his answer that made it seem incomplete. Something her intuition picked up. Maybe it just came up in conversation with this teacher, so she freely asked it. Maybe she was just curious about an alternative persepctive.
And THIS TIME. The answer is TOTALLY DIFFERENT. Content, tone, connotation - just a COMPLETRLY DIFFERENT fucking answer. What's more, this one makes MORE SENSE than the answer her father had given her - this one coheres with a more practical and forgiving world view, more along the lines that she had always seen.
Perhaps that's why she had asked another person, because deep inside she felt that something just wasnt right about that other answer.
But what horrifies her is how subtle, even arguably nonexistent, her own Bullshit Radar had been. She has always trusted her judgement, for it's all she is -- and by her own evaluation, she was willing to accept her father's answer as Legitimate. She was going to walk away satisfied. The fact that she had posed the question to another was almost sheer chance. Her judgement had FAILED her.
That's when she learned that even if her dad gives her an answer, that doesnt mean that it's a good one. She grew up a little bit that day, and she learned A.) Her judgements are fallable, and B.) Her dad's perspective is plausibly entirely horseshit when compared to more down-to-earth perspectives. So maybe she just shoukdnt use him as a resource at all.
She still tries with him, and she keeps trying to believe in him, becasue she wants things to make sense. But especially when we see her at her debut, the disparity of realities sort of reaches a breaking point -- either she can find and fold to the truth, or she can live in denial like her dad and ignore the way that shit just isnt adding up.
I see Videl as an agent of truth, and I think that learning that her father truly is full of BS came as a great relief to her. She had always sensed it, but could never justify it. Now she can interact with him as he is without ever expecting anything more of him. WHAT A RELIEF.

neglected manuscript - Do you have a favorite novel?
from this ancient ask meme
LMAO NO!!! PICKING THE ONE I WAS AFRAID OF 💀 I could make it easy and lie but y’know what? We’re gonna be honest about this 🫡 Gonna be LONG bc I have 1) not talked with about this in any capacity with another human being before and 2) a pretty complicated relationship with this book 🤕
Content warning for CSA 👇
This is difficult partly bc I do love a lot of books but partly bc I don’t like to reveal my actual favorite book… I genuinely worry people will perceive me in a very negative way LMAO. My favorite of all time is Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov 😶 It’s the book I’ve reread the most in my life so far and it is genuinely one of the best written books I have read 🤧 I think generally people are like 😰🤢 when you drop a bomb like that what’s typically supposed to be a light-hearted convo so I usually will say something else! Typically my safe answer is The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald (which genuinely was my favorite book at some point in time, we are not going to dive into this right now).
(A disclaimer as I talked about Lolita fashion before, I am aware that the fashion gets its name from the novel but that’s where the relation ends. I like Lolita fashion because I’m a loser that likes subculture fashion and not because it has the same name or any other connection to the book. That happens to be coincidental. I am staunchly against fetishization of the fashion ok thanks! 🙂↕️ back to the program!)
Brief summary for those who need it: Humbert (the narrator) is a scholar and a secret pedophile, who one day meets the Haze family for a home stay. He obsesses over the daughter, a 12 year-old girl named Dolores Haze, who he personally calls Lolita. Humbert marries Ms. Haze to be around the real object of his obsession. Through unfortunate events, he ends up Dolores’s sole caretaker. She lives with Humbert’s constant sexual abuse that spans a cross-country roadtrip, but eventually she runs away with the help of another pedophile. Unfortunately it is not a happy ending. Despite Dolores’s escape from both pedophiles, she dies before she can rebuild a normal life with her future family.
The first time I tried to read it, I was too young (around Dolores’s own age 🫥). It was recommended to me by another middle school girl! God knows what the fuck we were doing back then LMAO but the girl who recommended it to me said it was a love story. Older man girl our age whatever. Tbh when I started it I understood that it wasn’t a love story… and I couldn’t finish it because of how uncomfortable it made me. I reread it a handful of times between middle school and uni with varying degrees of success, and I only really started to grasp it when I reached uni. I do think I was entirely too young to read the book or even understand it, and thankfully it was not used as a tool to manipulate me. It was a dicey time tbh. When I was growing up, there weren’t communities of young women that centered around accepting Dolores Haze as a victim.
I think there’s a disclaimer for those you haven’t read it and think it glorifies CSA and pedophilia. It really does not. Nabokov himself was a victim of CSA and did not condone it. I think that the #1 thing that movie adaptations and pop culture struggle with is that people believe the narrator point blank. So the adaptations all have this horrible romanticization of the story at their cores. People even struggle with understanding the book because the narrator is an Educated & Scholarly Man who is like ✨I’m a poet I’m a sensitive soul and we poets just believe in love✨ like NO!!! The whole point of the story is that he is an unreliable narrator!!! The narrator is a murderer, rapist, kidnapper, and if you’re actually paying attention you see it all with your own damn eyes! And of course nobody really does pay attention! 😭
So like, why is this my favorite? This is also complicated LOL, but I think that there’s a couple of main reasons.
Ultimately, to me, the novel is a puzzle that Nabokov invites you to solve. You have an unreliable narrator, but he’s an excellent manipulator. I think a lot of people lose “the game,” so to speak, the first time they read the book because the narrator is so good at making you see only what he wants you to see (he loves her, he’s just a nice sensitive guy who lost his first love too early, he’s doesn’t mean to hurt “his” “Lolita,” she “seduced” him, she “makes” him do horrible things to her, etc). It is written so well, and since the character himself is a professor and an intellectual, I think it’s easier for folks to let their guard down and to literally be tricked. Genuinely speaking I struggled with what to believe too, especially as a child. The only reason I didn’t buy into the “love story” bit was because by some intuition, I was aware that something Bad was happening despite the narrator’s insistence that it was all good. Tho I could not pinpoint what it was at the time.
But once you break past the facade and you’re fully paying attention the novel, it is like two stories in one. One hand, poets romantics in the name of love blah blah blah, but on the other hand? Dolores is a girl from a broken home, who’s mother is murdered by a man that wants to rape her. She’s kidnapped and shows clear signs of abuse (triggered by paternal affection, cried herself to sleep every night since the abuse started, bouts of disassociation, extreme rebellion towards Humbert, etc). Some of this stuff is actually glossed over by the narrator, but signs of a whole other part of the story are literally right in front of you if you’re paying attention.
For example, there’s a single line about Dolores’s mother, Charlotte, where she reveals in a letter to Humber that both her first husband and her youngest child (Dolores’s baby brother) died. And the narrator does NOT give a rat’s ass about this woman or her woes so it’s never talked about again. It’s whittled down to one single dismissive sentence, and I missed it tons of times. But knowing that, it makes sense why Charlotte acts as she does, why Charlotte and Dolores’s relationship is fraught. And why Dolores acts as she does at the beginning of the novel. Literally the Haze family is going through extreme grief with barely the emotional resources to process a double death in their immediate family. Without that context though, you’re just going along with whatever Humbert wants you to believe. You don’t see who Charlotte or Dolores are as individuals. You miss a chunk of the truth. And that’s literally just one of the smallest instances I can think of. There’s so much to dig through both directly and in between the lines. Nabokov is so deliberate with his writing and so extremely detailed that there’s a LOT of things that are easily missed unless you read it multiple times. This shit is so detailed, there’s scholars dedicated both to Nabokov and to Lolita the novel.
I think the last big reason I keep coming back to it is because I think it’s something so deeply rooted in society, you never really live without Lolita. The book has been bastardized to hell and back because most people, especially those in power once again, Do Not Understand how to read this book. So we’re left with not necessarily Dolores Haze, but this enigmatic “Lolita” the abstract figure of Humbert’s delusions. She is so influential, we all live our lives with her whether or not we’re aware of it. Coquette aesthetic? Lolita. Lana Del Rey? Katy Perry? The Police? Lolita. Marc Jacobs? Carven? Lolita. Vladimir? Excavation? My Dark Vanessa? Lolita. Heart-shaped sunglasses? Lolita. Butterflies??? Yes, Lolita. You can even go so wild with the connections to the point of bringing up the goddamn Lion King (animated 1994 version, Scar is voiced by Jeremy Irons who played Humbert Humbert in Adrian Lyne’s 1997 adaptation).
And it’s this constant reminder, every day. You pass by her on the Internet or in an ad while you’re out and about. She lives in the shadow of your acquaintance or your loved one. She haunts everything in a very real and literal sense. I think that’s what keeps me coming back to the book… even if I wanted to forget about her, I don’t think I ever really could.
#📬#oyasumiruby#ok if anyone else sends me an ask from this meme it will not be dissertation-length i prommy i’ll be normal#(turns to tumblr user oyasumiruby) ruby first of all love you hoe thank you for the ask#second of all sorry for unleashing hell with this ask meme THIS IS SO LONG HDHDHDHDHD FORGIVE MEEEEE 😭#genuinely i do not talk about it Ever. but it’s been a constant source of interest for me for over a decade so like#unleashing a lot of things i’ve just simply never really said to a damn soul on this earth before PLEASE EXCUSE ME LMAO#if you want to talk more about it we can there’s some things about The Girlhood Experience and how it filters through a work like Lolita#it is a Loaded topic tho i am not willing to dump on the public at this time special privileges for besties like u

hiiii can i pls have 🍏, 🥝 and 🍈 from that ask game? <33 (feel free to sub or skip any of them if you’ve already gotten these <3)
Fruit Fic Ask Game!
Hi Glossy! I think you helped me get all the fruits on that meme. 😊
🍏 Is there something you overuse, whether it’s a certain phrase, trope, or piece of punctuation?
I answered that one here. So instead, I'll sub in 🍋. 😉
🍋 What’s your favorite spicier trope to write?
I love writing D/s dynamics. Things with process and routines and deference and implicit obedience. I love writing a top that asks for autonomous control from the bottom where the bottom has to ask for things from the top. I love writing kink, in all sorts of forms - nonsexual and sexual.
🥝 What’s your favorite trope/AO3 tag to write?
Ooh, hm. I had to think on this a minute. I like subverting expectations. I like taking tropes and turning them on their head. I like characterizations that go deeper than the surface and they reveal how human the characters are. I don’t know what that tag is, tbh. 😅 (I’m also blanking on tags I’d use on my pieces, so…uh, have that I guess.) 😂
🍈 Who’s your blorbo and what are some of your favorite headcanons/ideas about them that repeatedly show up in your fics? Free pass to rant about blorbo opinions.
I answered this one here first, but I have more to share!
Price comes from a family of veterans. He’s a legacy soldier, determined to prove himself in comparison to his extended family.
Johnny will always have some sibling, it just depends on what’s useful to the story. Gender and age varies, but he has at least one family member he vibes with a lot.
Gaz sometimes has a twin (identical/fraternal/paternal varies), or at least one sibling. Someone in the immediate Garrick family is not straight.
Ghost often has a hobby that’s very nature oriented - birdwatching, rockhounding, wild plant foraging, etc. He needs something to do to ground himself when things go topsy.
#gemma answers#Fruit fic ask game#glossysoap#this is the second one you sent Glossy!#But I think I've answered all the fruits now!

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you with an ask for this, but 3, 7 and 8 for the s/i ask game
-@woof-ships
https://www.tumblr.com/huntinglove/750959724458065920?source=share
(In case you need the link btw, i know its been a couple days)
it is totally fine!!! stuff happens no worriess !! :DD thank you!!! ask game is here !! and as a treat bc i already answered all these for ace (three, three and seven, eight) i decided to answer these for my stardew farmer s/i!! i havent posted anything about them yet but shane is on my mind today....i hope thats ok!!!!
for a small intro on them...tbh theyre just a stardew farmer thats Me lol i think i named them kiwi, they/them! i havent thought about them in a while but i love shane sm <3333 they are kissssiiiiiing 3 – Have you ever imagined any episodes or segments of your F/O’s source starring your S/I? If so, what did they get up to?
oooo yes! this is a bit tricky with stardew but i like to think about kiwi completeing the community center and helping shane after he loses his job!! i think itd send him into a spiral, and i like to think kiwi is there to help him out!!! 7 – Within canon, is your S/I considered a hero, villain, anti-hero or a regular citizen? How does this affect their day to day life and their relationship with your F/O?
the town definitely sees them as a mix of a hero/just some guy! they definitely helped save the town by driving out jojamart, but they are also the weirdo that digs in the trash and comes up to them just to shove their favorite gift in their face haha. shane sees them as the person who helped pull him out of the worst depressive spiral in his life - so in his eyes, theyre the biggest hero of them all. shane also loves kiwis weird habits like waking up at 6 am and coming home beat up from the mines (even if hes concerned and tries to get them to be more careful)
8 – How lucky is your S/I? Are they always finding themselves in complicated situations or danger? Or do they magically get themselves out of anything scot-free?
Oh Boy. as with the canon of stardew, this varies greatly day to day! sometimes kiwi is super lucky and other times they find themselves in the mines facing down hoardes of enemies and getting beat up lol. they always seem to make out okay in the end - even getting super injured and ending up at the doctors, they always end up okay the next day. they bounce back quick!
thank you so much for the ask!!!! sorry its about kiwi but i hope thats okay! maybe ill make a dedicated tag and post for them lol. rn mob psycho is too much in my brain haha
#woof-ships#selfshipping fun#ask games#temp kiwi tag#i dont have a tag for them yet lolz#friend tag: woof!

More Big Bunny Stuff Since It’s On My Mind
Here comes some were-bunny stuff, in case anyone was curious about how taking care of one of them goes.
*Bunny!William cannot communicate through his voice since his brain gets jumbled after the transformation. Thankfully, he does know enough bunny body language to get his point across. And some bunny noises as well, though I’m not sure if it sounds like a mix between his own voice and an actually bunny’s or not.
*If a person who cannot control the transformation thinks about something other than the pain during it, then that will become the rabbit’s drive for the evening. For example: All William could think about was his family and wishing they could help stop the pain. This desire to see his family again caused the accidental disappearance of five very confused kids.
*Much like some normal rabbits, Bunny!William is touchy about his stomach getting petted. It’s not necessarily for defensive purposes, but more likely it’s because of some anxiety he shares with his normal self. Evan just assumes it’s the former though, so he tells any new person to back off. I mean, maybe Bunny can let someone do it if there’s some trust involved? Like Mrs. Afton when she encounters his rabbit form? Kinda hard to pet the back of a giant rabbit, tbh...
*While I’m not sure about the height measurement, I’m pretty sure Bunny!William’s two-legged standing height is all the way up to the ceiling of the hideout. Four legged height’s only half that, I think. Idk I’m not a were-rabbit height expert. All I know is he’s tall.
*Unlike typical rabbits, a were-bunny can eat normal people food. It’s just that they prefer certain veggies and fruits over what their normal self likes. That’s good news for Evan, who most likely fretted over his little sister sneaking a banana sundae into Bunny!William’s meal.
*However, you give too much of something to a were-bunny and uh... Well, let’s just say William had to gently remind Elizabeth that he’s technically on a diet now– Both in rabbit and human form.
*Much like the people they used to be, every were-bunny is different. Some are skittish, some act more like werewolves without the killing people part, and some aren’t even found because of how reclusive they are. It really does just depend on who it is in human form. Bunny!William happens to be a more skittish type, in case anyone was curious.
*Were-bunnies can sense each other thanks to their massive ears. Interactions between them vary, but I’ll just say that the two were-rabbits that are in this story do not get along well.
*The other bunny is out roaming the woods somewhere. Waiting for something. Circling the Afton hideout if need be, but never actually breaking into it. Not even William knows why.
*There are ways to reverse the were-bunny “curse”, but most known methods are incredibly risky. One particular idea is for the victim to be shot by a golden bullet, but only as a last resort.
*Oh, and there’s not just were-bunnies to be concerned about. Sometimes, an injection of were-bunny blood creates a strange side effect where the recipient transforms into a different type of animal instead. These are much harder to come by, however, so not much is known about them. There have been rumors of a giant grizzly bear lumbering around with a little girl on its back, but both of them have been very reclusive. At least it’s reported that they get along decently.
If there’s any questions you’d like for me to answer, then let me know!

[MY TIME FOR QUESTIONS HAS COME!!! for milo!! >:DDD it was honestly so hard not to send like…..all the questions for him -w-;;]
4. How easy is it to earn their trust? 5. How easy is it to earn their mistrust? 15. How do they speak? Is what they say usually thought of on the spot, or do they rehearse it in their mind first? 32. Do they have a go-to story in conversation? Or a joke?
A) Why are you excited about this character? E) Are they someone you would get along with? Would they get along with you?
[Uncommon Questions for OCs and their creators]
(Honestly bud I wouldn't stop you, I'm so jazzed to finally have my lil sweetboi on here >w>)
4- How easy is it to earn their trust? Fairly. He kind of gives everyone the same default level of trust, which, is pretty high tbh. There is deeper trust that still needs time to form, but even that, probably happens a little faster than is sensible. But, you know, he's inexperienced, still a little bit naive. Of course, some things he won't trust to others... if his family told him not to. Because there's no-one he could trust more than them.
5- How easy is it to earn their mistrust? The last answer may give this away, but, not very! He still doubts at, I would say, a normal level, but he's the type to try to brush those doubts away. Even in an extreme situation, he wants to believe, and to trust, he often searches for a way to explain it that doesn't mean having to face that. But once he's lost trust in someone. Actually lost it. It... would take a HELL of a lot to change again.
15- How do they speak? Is what they say usually thought of on the spot, or do they rehearse it in their mind first? Well, Milo knows that different places and people have their own customs and he is a guest in their spaces, so he's pretty careful, he tries to make sure he's not going to offend them. But, he's also a fairly open book. So if he does stop and think about what to say, it'll be pretty clear- often he'll even sort of run through his thought process out loud~
32- Do they have a go-to story in conversation? Or a joke? I think I'd have to play him a lil bit to get the best feel for this, though I'm not sure he'd be great at putting jokes together, and he'd prefer to hear others' stories- which vary based on who he asks- than his own. I think if he tried to tell the same story everywhere he went, he'd get bored of it fairly quickly. My thinking so far is that he'd probably prefer to tell stories about the last place he visited, wherever that happened to be. I mean, even if he's telling people about the next town over, it's all new and exciting to him~
A) Why are you excited about this character? I suppose the biggest reason is, he was the first proper character I ever made and wrote as, and I missed him! A lot in his background and story have changed, but now, he's back- and I think he'll get to have way more fun and more freedom after the reboot than his previous iteration did.
E) Are they someone you would get along with? Would they get along with you? Hmm... I do love Milo as a character, and as a person if he were real. And if we only met occassionally, as part of something else, I think the answer would be yes from both sides. But I feel like if it were a few hours focused on each other, he'd tire me out, and he'd either not know what to do or try too hard to help and not want to leave? And if he visited too often, I'd run out of stories and, not have enough of a life to make new ones fast enough to keep up, and he'd just be awkwardly trying to engage some other way, not really knowing what to say or do. So yeah, if we imagine more of like 'my child/nephew/neice's friend who comes over after school or at weekends sometimes, great, awesome! But actual one-on-one direct friends probably wouldn't work, though it wouldn't be us disliking each other or anything.
#i literally started writing this the minute i saw it btw#that's what I mean when I say jazzed#it's just that dinner was ready at that exact Same minute and I had to stop about 5 words in#x')#then i got distracted by tv#but now the answers are here!#and now#i might go play a chill game or something#maybe do some small arty bits#i do need proper original art of Milo still soooo#>w>#rp stuff#character questions#milo jasper#asimplerper

Any chance you'll answer 5 and 10 for Nathaniel? And if you don't mind, would you like to do 16? 🥰
5) What is their overall physical condition? Are they healthy or do they get sick easily?
Nathaniel tends to be pretty healthy. He eats well and takes care of himself, plus he exercises. That said, his immune system isn't the greatest, so if he has to work with someone who's sick, he'll probably catch it. Luckily for him, his work usually keeps him away from contagious patients, but there are occasions when it can't be helped.
10) Are they easily flustered?
He's not. Anything that could potentially fluster him either goes right over his head, or he flat out ignores it. If anything, he's a flirt and smooth talker when he needs to be, but it means nothing. He's just built different like that.
16) Do you have a comfort OC? And if so why? What do you like best about them? Do you relate to them in ways?
The comfort OC varies depending on The Vibes I'm feeling tbh 😂 I have a couple of them I tend to fall back on, but it always depends.

1. Tbh, keeping the sinister stuff away from each other is a lot easier than anything else, it's really the point of the disorder. I know only the vaguest facts about our main trauma. There are parts who know the details of that same trauma. I'm not allowed to know those details right now and may never be. That is part of the nature of the disorder. I don't really have much experience in me (Pidge) trying to keep information from others. But I know they keep information from me with great amounts of success.
2. This one it depends. Sometimes we can talk freely, sometimes it takes concentration to discern what's being said. Think of it as similar to the way folks talk about auditory processing issues.
3. Honestly it's hard to tell exactly, but yes, I believe so. Sometimes we communicate via words, other times it is through feelings or concepts or even images. Communication can be very similar to the way telepathy is presented in fiction.
4. If they're co con yes, in they're not, not in the moment, but they would have access to that information when they come up to the front.
5. Both. Sometimes when I'm alone I'll talk out loud or mouth the words and it would appear like a one sided conversation.
6. It seems so. When I'm fronting I'm not very aware of what's going on in the back. Sometimes I catch ideas of what's going on, but if I'm fronting. I'm in charge of appearing normal and running everyday life and existence, so it's better for me to not have to be aware wholly of what's going on in the back and also trying to focus on the external world.
7. Yes and no? I need help with this one usually. Sometimes I get spikes of anxiety from things happening inside and I'll ask one of our caretakers to check in on things for me and step in. But it can be hard for me to block it out because I'm very close to one of out trauma holders and I don't want to block things out when he's the one dealing with something because I want to be the one to help. This is generally considered a bad idea by said caretakers though.
8. Yes. Tbh, I don't know how exactly or how to explain it, it kinda just happens. And it depends on what it is. We went to the eye doctor today and if like C came to the front they would have the knowledge that that happened today almost immediately upon fronting. They could access that memory file, as it were. Memory sharing has also taken the form of "air dropping" images. For example I was trying to remember a song I'd heard years ago and R was able to show me the memory he had of the radio screen. It was kinda telepathic(?) but it was like being shown a picture.
9. I cannot visit another system's inner world because inner worlds are part of our brains and telepathy between people is not a thing. However, there are different sections of our own inner world that can have restricted access. For example the trauma holder mentioned above has a his own part of our collective inner world. I can only access it with him and with his permission. There are other parts that I know exist, but I have no access to.
10. This one varies. Our alters have spent basically our whole life masking as an afab person and our presentation is very covert. So externally other than maybe a temperament difference, you wouldn't be able to tell. Internally is very different. We have several parts that internally present as amab and internally that's just how they are. We do have a child part, but I don't really have access to her or her space, but the vague memories I have of her (monitored) time in the front was playing games on the phone.
Of course this is just my experience and other systems will have different experiences. Questions are welcome, though we do retain the right to decline to answer, and can be helpful even to us. We're early in our diagnosis and treatment, but this has always been our life. We just have a little more awareness of things now.
DID Systems, I have more questions:
Is it possible to keep secrets from your alters (Nothing shady or sinister, just maybe like a birthday or Christmas present/surprise)?
When you hear your alters talking in your head, is it random or do you need to concentrate to hear them?
Can alters hear each other's thoughts (like if you think about something, would they hear it)
If you kiss or hug someone, would your alters be able to tell?
When you talk to your alters, do you talk out loud, or do you think it?
Can you block off the person who's fronting from hearing you in your head?
Can the person who's fronting block the rest of the system out?
Is it possible to share each other's memories? How?
Can you visit each other's inner worlds?
How do child, animal, and opposite gender alters work? Do they dress/talk like a child/opposite gender and act like the animal?
Thanks a bunch!

Joanne has opted for trying something new: TEXT TO SPEECH. He's rocking back and forth on the heels of his feet, trying to get the app he was testing out to say what he wanted to. (it didn't help he was an incredibly slow typer.) Seems he was growing irritated of constantly signing things out. Eventually, a monotone, robotic voice came from the phone. 《Excuse me? I need your assistance for a second. 》

I've been strolling through your blog and began wondering about one thing: what does it even mean for a ship to become canon? Pretty philosophical, ik. If you ask Google you'd get "ship that got confirmed by series" but that's still pretty vague. Do we count any relationship? (one night stands? unresolved sexual tension? ppl going on dates? loveless marriages? lifelong partnerships? broken relationships? ect.) Even if there are no romantic feelings involved? Even if they're one-sided? After all, being in relationship doesn't equal being in love or being attracted to your partner. What about characters who have mutual romantic interest and/or deep emotional bond but never actually got to be together? I've seen plenty of ships (mainly wlw or mlm tbh) where characters have a thing for each other but due to circumstances and/or tragedy never got together. Love, after all, doesn't have to be shown by kissing, pda or explicit confessions. It can be shown by tiny gestures, sacrifices, bond they share, development, subtle messages, being there for each other, subtext ect. You mostly likely see where I'm going at.
I know it's just my opinion, but I simply can't see that type of 'love' between those two 'canon' ships. Ik definitions of 'love' and 'happiness' varies from person to person, but if I were to ship them, they became canon (got married/had kids) and were like, ahem that, I'd be the first one to protest. This isn't even about dysfunctionality, but about how one-sided it all feels...
LOL. @noa-ciharu !!! You probably should've sent this question to an NH or SS supporting Blog and I wonder what answer you'd be getting back. Either you won't get an answer or you would get an Explanation post which uses the same templated 10 panels that they use in every posts to explain their ship's "Proof of Love".
However, To answer your Question, "What does it even mean for a ship to become canon?"
From Business Perspective, The Basis on which a ship could become canon is To Bring Out Kids through Crowd Favourite Couples. It's as simple as that.
You mentioned so many types of Relationship like One night stands? Unresolved sexual tension? People going on dates? Loveless marriages? Lifelong partnerships? Broken relationships?. While Naruto is not a Genre to explore all of these, it sure has shown some Reciprocated Relationships even when the plot never required it.
For Example, YahiKonan is a ship which is not all needed by any logic. It didn't add any value to the Overall theme of the story.
But the Author went out of his way show a Love between 2 Orphans who lives in a War-Torn Country.
It all requires just Half a page, you know. Just 3 or 4 panels. I mean picture Yahiko as Naruto... Well, If you can't imagine then I'll help you imagine it...
Tell me, Can you even spot a difference between Naruto and Yahiko?
Especially, Pain Arc is where Kishimoto said that he confirmed NH. Well, it isn't surprising, considering Hinata came out of nowhere to jump before Naruto to fight Pain.
If the Author can make Konan to heal Yahiko's wounds... Can't he able to make Hinata to come check on her Naruto-kun and bandage his wounds for him??? Instead he made Sasuke look-alike, Sai to do the Band-Aid'ing thing here.
It's just that, at every given time the Author could've done something useful for his main 'Canon' couples, he refused to give them anything. Not even a Bread crumb of Reciprocation from the Boys' side.
Leave SNS... I don't care about it for now.
Right after the Pain Arc, he brought YahiKonan out of nowhere in just 3 panels.
He brought MinaKushi out of nowhere in just 3 or 4 pages.
He even brought an excellent closure to DanTsunade by making Dan to kiss Tsunade's forehead.
AND THE WORD RECIPROCATION IS THERE IN ALL THESE 3 HETERO COUPLES.
That's why, Saying... Kishimoto don't know how to write (Hetero) Romance/ Love/ Relationship is just a Joke to me. He knows all too well as to how to establish a reciprocated bond in as little as 3 panels. He could've very well did this for his main 'Canon' couples and You wouldn't be asking this question to me at all. But He didn't do it because he simply wanted to show the Audience that 'This Ship happened for the sole reason to bring out babies for Next Generation'.
So, To become Canon... The Requirement is to be Popular and ***No Homo****.
This is just from a money-making perspective though.
From Shipping/Shippers' Perspective, It was all about Winning the Bragging Rights about how their Self-Inserted dream came true. That's all.
Their thought process goes, 'I have been shipping this couple for 10 Years.... And Hinata/Sakura did so much for these Boys. So, I have to become Canon as a reward for all my efforts.'
In Your Ask, you said so many things about the way the Author can show Love...
It can be shown by tiny gestures, sacrifices, bond they share, development, subtle messages, being there for each other, subtext etc.
All these Gestures you listed here would have been expected by those shippers too. Am not going to deny that. At the end of the day, they are not some emotionless morons.
They Waited.
They Waited.
They Waited.
For 12 years.
But nothing happened. Atleast Not from those Boys' side.
They stepped into the pit with one leg in the hopes that something will happen... But at no point they felt like they could able to step back out of the pit because of all those efforts they poured into the Ship for so many years. Fanarts, Fanfics... (???)
And Finally, Poof... They became Canon. Now all of their shipping fantasies came true in a single chapter.... And the Lack of Development doesn't even matter to them.
All because those Couples had Sex and Babies. It's also a general assumption that, in a Media... If a couple got confirmed in the End, it means they loved each other all along.
So, The Lack of Development or Reciprocation, Subtexts, Tiny Gestures, Standing by the Side etc... etc... don't even matter to them. They could fill all the lack of XXX with Fanfics and Fanarts.
At the End of the Day, Winning at all costs is what matters and the Bragging rights it gives them.
So, In Naruto Series... What it means to become Canon???
A Way to get babies & make a show about those said babies and The right to scream, 'Yay!! We became Canon'

Hi Callie! In your opinion, what are the top ten best Mccoy centric episodes in TOS? You don't have to answer if you don't want to, thanks for reading anyways! ❤️
Ooh, good question! This is a little hard because McCoy, compared to Kirk and Spock, didn’t get a lot of centric episodes. Actually I think he only really got like… two out of 79 episodes (depending on how you view it). But he DOES have a large prescence in others, so let me see here…
1. The Empath Technically it’s a Triumvirate episode, but this has McCoy’s best moment in the entire show. Like if you want to understand McCoy’s character, this is the episode that you turn to. I already blabbed about why once so I’ll let that go into it for me.
2. For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky: While some of the execution is a bit iffy, this is still a realy excellent episode. Mainly because DeForest Kelley plays McCoy here with everything that he has and just nails everything, McCoy’s sadness, loneliness, and invevat le fate of dying in a year, masterfully. The episode would be NOWHERE near as good if not for De Kelley.
3. The Man Trap: This and the last one are the only two McCoy-centric episodes, at least that I recall. This one often gets overlooked since it’s first so I think that the emotional impact gets lost. But God McCoy in this episode is just outright tragic. I wrote a whole post about it because it felt so unfair that it was overlooked because there is SO MUCH there. Also mrke amazing De Kelley acting
4. All Our Yesterdays: While McCoy does spend a good chunk of it passed out from hypothermia, he is freakin’ excellent in this episode. He’s not only hilarious (“He means it’s cold!”, De’s delivery made me burst out laughing) but when he’s finally awake, he’s just freakin’ awesome. He put himself at GREAT risk to snap Spock out of his mental state and then went ‘screw it’ and tried to find the portal home cause he wants his life back, with or without Spock (but preferably with Spock). He’s just great~!
5. Return to Tomorrow: This whole episode is super underrated. It’s the one where the alien beings posess Kirk, Spock, and Lady of the Week’s bodies. McCoy is the ONLY rational person in the episode and the one who has to deal with the majority of the problem. He has to both worry about everyone’s minds in the orbs and what the aliens do to their human bodies and is VERY concerned throughout. It also demonstrates how devkted to his profession and oath that he is. He even outright risks Kirk dying for good, as painful as it is for him, because it would mean allowing another to die and like Hell is he doing that. Seriously, this one is so freakin’ overlooked.
6. Bread and Circuses/The Immunity Syndrome/The Tholian Web: Yeah three way tie cause they all have one thing in common: they feature his complicated relationship with Spock. The first one I wrote a whole meta about already. It’s a Spones analysis, but it reflects why McCoy himself is great in this episode along with all hos geneal grumpy snark throughout. Oh and the ending with him throwing a mattess at a guy… and he wins IIRC. Best underrated comedy moment EVER. With the second, he’s not at all happy with Spock being picked over him to examine the amoeba and that Spock may die. Their whole interaction in the hangar, McCoy waiting until the doors close to wish Spock luck, Spock’s seeming final words, and of course “Shut up Spock! We’re rescuing you!”. The last one of course has Kirk gone and McCoy is angry, grieving, and stressed with everyone losing their minds and Spcok pressuring him to fix it all at the same time and he takes it out on Spock. Then they see Kirk’s final message and we all know what happens after. All three do such a great job showing how much McCoy cares about Spock and showcasing how great they really are together, and not even just the shippy sense. Only reason they’re at six is because of how closely tied to Spock he is in those episodes instead of being the central character, but he IS still central in them and showcase some of his best moments. So I hope I got my point across XD
7. A Private Little War: The episode’s message is kind of… questionable. But ignoring thay, McCoy is the real freakin’ hero of this story. It’s only because of him that Kirk survived and he’s more than willing to contront him on his questionable decision making. Which is the very thing that Kirk brought him for to begin with. It’s one of the best episode to show how much he cares about Kirk and the lengths he’ll go for him. Oh and he kept Spock from dying along with Chapel and M’Benga. Thank God he has competent medical staff who can do the job without him XD
8. Journey to Babel: Okay yes this is a Spock episode, but McCoy is VERY prominent throughout. He’s both hilarious in the cold opening and we all remember his reaction to Spock’s ‘teddy bear’ XD. But he managed to conduct a VERY risky surgery that put Spock and Sarek at great risk if he screwed up. A surgery he’s never really conducted. And during a battle that causes frequent rattling to boot. He succeeded and the episode appropriately rewards him by allowing him the final word. It’s not only oen of the best episodes showing why he’s the CMO, but he’s just freakin’ great the whole episode.
9. Amok Time: Again it’s a Spock episode, but I repeat what I said about Return to Tomorrow: McCoy is the real hero. He’s the one who recognizes that something is horribly wrong, puts up with zero excuses, actually usus logic to get Spock to comply, and of course it was him who saved both Kirk and Spock’s sorry butts. They’d both likely be dead had McCoy not been there. He may have had the least screentime of the three, but he damn wel made up for it.
10. Operation: Annahilate: It has one of the saddest but strongest McCoy scenes. Through the whole episode he’s super protectice of Spock, running various tests to get rid of the parasites and trying to keep Kirk’s kid nephew alive all at the same time. Then he gets made by Kirk and Spock to risk blinding the latter… and DOES blind him. Then his face when the test result revelaed that he didn’t need to use an jntense light and being outright unresponsive when Kirk calls him later… just ouch. It’s one of those moments I wish it had gone more in depth, but upseide is we have haply McCoy by the end. Want proof of how much he cares for Spock and others? Here you go
And he has really good scenes in other episodes despite varying levels of prominence (Miri, Space Seed, The Galileo Seven, This Side of Pradise, The City on the Edge of Forever, Mirror, Mirror, Friday’s Child, The Ultimate Computer, Spock’s Brain… no seriosuly he’s the biggest bright spot in that and for certain S3 episodes tbh). It’s a HUGE shame that he was treated like the third wheel both in series and the films, and even now gets the raw end of the deal in popular media. But I hope that this was a satisfactory list Anon. Sorry it got all wordy and long, I can’t help myself sometimes XD

@the-king-and-the-druidess idk if yes or no is a satisfying answer tbh. It has arthur x guinvere but it has arthur x lancelot, arthur x perceval, arthur x leodagan, arthur x vivianne too.
Here’s the thing about Kaamelott Arthur and Guinevere
Even if Arthur was the biological (tho bastard) son of Uther Pendragon, he still grew up and was trained as a soldier of the Roman Empire (Livre 6 and the Movie). He was called “Arturus”
Certain things happen and eventually he returns to britain to assert his claim as King of the Britons. He is the only who can pull out the sword of legend, Excalibur, from the rock after all.
The series still slightly follow the Arthurian legends wherein the barons/kings where doubtful or slightly reluctant to just accept this reported heir of Uther Pendragon. To solidify Arthur’s rule over the Britons, he had to marry a daughter of one of the Kings. In this case King Leodagan of Carmelide got to secure the alliance first. The barons also agree to it. Thus Arthur and Guinevere became King and Queen of the Britons/ Logres through political marriage. It’s a win-win situation if you think about it. It also put Leodagan(King Leodagrace) and his queen Lady Seli in an advantageous position since they have become the parents-in-law of the King.
Arthur does sleep in the same bed as Guinevere as King and Queen, however they never consummate their marriage because Arthur refuses to have sex with her. Arthur keeps 3-5 mistresses tho and he satisfies his needs with them. That goes on for 10 years btw.
If you are familiar with Kaamelott by now, you’d understand that the characters all have no idea what the Holy Grail is even when Arthur spent so much time and resources for it to be found. Plus he doesnt stop womanizing/ committing adultery.
Things come to a head by s3 onwards. There’s a lot of changes and realization that goes on between arthur x gwen x lancelot. Keep in mind that lancelot was arthur’s bestfriend and right hand man while Guinevere was still arthur’s queen in every way except siring an heir. Guinevere eventally runs away with Lancelot and the kingdom start to fall apart. More stuff happen and Lancelot truly becomes the big bad (like in the legends).
Let’s just say that it will take 20 years, a fallen King and drastically changed Camelot for Arthur to finally see what Queen Guinevere means to him and what he means to Guinevere. (This “after 20 years” development is common in pendranievre arts)
.....
Pendranievre -> this is the ship name is kaamelot! arthur x guinevere.
Pendranievre is more flawed, more fragile but also more sincere. It is more human, more difficult and also more realistic. It is a dynamic that grounds you. It is a dynamic that reminds you that royalty and people aren’t perfect.
.....
Also kaamelott promotes so many arthur dynamics. He is a warlord who is
trying to satisfy the briton and christian gods;
while remaining true to his roman upbringing;
while also trying to keep his people and allied kings from revolting;
Trying to keep his varied knights and grumbling court wizard in line;
Doesnt even know what he’s actually looking for;
Constantly Dealing with demanding and opportunistic in-laws, said in laws also help him immensely in running/managing the whole castle;
Bringing with a whole lot of baggage from his past;
He’s just trying his best. He’s still an ass tho. And that’s okay
@tiodolma I noticed some Kaamelot arts you reblogged and I have a question: what is the state of Gwencelot in it? Seems like Kaamelot, just like BBC promotes Arwen, yes? 😗
#king arthur#queen guinevere#the arthur x lancelot storyline is cool too#tho i still dont understand most of it yet

They really went there huh
/rp (good lord I rly hyperfixated on this essay huh)
torture tw, abuse tw, manipulation tw, gaslighting tw
So the Dream SMP built a character, once maybe morally gray, who slipped straight into villany with little to no desire to change, and willing to cause a LOT of pain to get his way. Despite this, he doesn’t question what he does enough to stop, justifying his actions with a good intent that doesn’t come close to justifying what he’s done.
C!Dream is unremorseful of what he’s done, he’s quite literally manipulated and gaslit (like actually, not in the way everyone keeps throwing the word around) c!Tommy, almost drove him to take his last life- like, jesus christ. That’s not even to mention blowing up L’Manburg three times, encouraging c!Wilbur, wanting the discs JUST to have power over c!Tommy, etc.
SO, he gets thrown in a box for it so he doesn’t hurt anybody anymore, making his own hubris his downfall (narrative consequence my beloved). This leads us to a good finale - the bad guy, the person who’s caused objectively the most pain and destruction, is now unable to do so anymore, taken down by the person whom he tried to weaken. It is also revealed he was planning on blackmailing and threatening pretty much everyone, but now everyone gets their stuff back.
Good, right?
Especially for the finale, yeah! The message of the finale is good, c!Tommy manages to escape his abuser with nothing more but his clothes on his back and fights his way back to c!Tubbo and his home.
He doesn’t let his trauma (which is still very present!) let him become a terrible person (arguably the way that c!Dream DID let his frustrations make him a terrible person, c!Tommy, despite bearing quite a heavy weight, recognizes when he begins to turn that way and actively works against it).
It shows that while alone, c!Tubbo and c!Tommy were outfought by Dream, but because c!Tommy went the length to ask for help (which he didn’t even really seem to be relying on actually showing up), he wins! It truly is a good message.
C!Tommy escapes his abuser and manipulator, refuses and fights his trauma to not become someone he doesn’t want to be, and defeats his abuser by asking for help and receiving it, even more than he thought he’d get. He refuses to play c!Dream’s “game”, refuses till the very last moment to let c!Tubbo die, to surrender and say goodbye to him.
So, great! Good finale! C!Dream The Villain is boxed like a fish in a prison of, quite literally, his own making. It sent a good message to people. C!Tommy wasn’t expected to forgive him and did, in fact, axe him down twice, causing c!Dream to finally fall from his high horse.
Most media would stop at this point, say the villain is now defeated and never show them again, or have them come back another one or two seasons later, escaped and seemingly unharmed and worse than ever.
Alternatively, there’s a throwaway line, (or, in good media, a genuine, reasonable backstory, complete with remorse and bad role models and complicated situations), that allows the villain to be redeemed.
In GOOD redemption arcs (See: Zuko from avatar tbh), the villain was already never quite as heartless, or stressed their good intent, or felt remorse for what they felt they “had to do”. Then, ideally, the villain takes a looooong time adjusting their habits, regretting their actions and changing until they’re considered redeemed.
Not on the Dream SMP, though.
They don’t stop at c!Dream’s defeat.
He doesn’t dissapear off-screen and is never spoken of again. His life continues on, everyone’s does, just like it would in reality. He doesn’t magically want to become a better person, far from it. So no redemption. But he doesn’t dissapear, either.
They go on to, slowly, stress how awful the conditions in Pandora’s Vault are. c!Bad says c!Dream should be imprisoned, but at least at slightly better conditions. We’re in very VERY morally gray territorry here. Nobody says c!Dream is a good person, of course not, but even c!Bad - who knows Dream was planning on keeping c!Skeppy in a cage to control him with - goes, “yeah, he should stay boxed, but does he really need to like... suffer suffer?”
Still, c!Dream seems to be kindof inconsistent in his behavior. Is he faking his pain? Is he not? His actions don’t fully make sense for either take. He acts differently to each person, but at the same time some things he does don’t make sense if he were just fishing for pity.
Then c!Sam admits to trying (and thinking he succeeded) to “break Dream’s will”, to quite literally starving him for weeks.
Okay, so now we’re a step further. C!Dream is now suffering even more, although already boxed and unable to hurt anyone. Pandora’s Vault is one thing, but now c!Sam just seems to be out for revenge and nothing more. Instead of spending his time with c!Tommy, he spends his time pickaxing(?) c!Dream.
C!Sam isn’t an angel, and we should all know that by now. He does what he thinks is right, but he’s deeper than that, all characters on the DSMP are.
He cares deeply for the Badlands, and would always choose them above anybody else. He’s a capitalist. He built the prison because it would benefit the Badlands resource-wise, despite knowing Dream would probably use it on his enemies, and it was no secret that ALL members of L’Manburg, especially c!Tommy, are his enemies. C!Sam, undoubtedly, knew that. He still built it.
Arguably, he didn’t know about c!Dream’s attachment obsession at the time, but the point still stands.
People have already latched onto the untold story happening between c!Dream and c!Sam, and frankly, we barely know enough about it. Does c!Sam torture him regularly? Do they talk? Does c!Dream try to verbally fight back? CAN he fight back? We don’t know! We’ve gotten proof for both, between c!Sam saying that c!Dream is terrifying even in prison and c!Dream going silent to go on strike. We don’t have enough of an idea how bad or how good it truly is.
So the people who prefer to humanize c!Dream and explore morality imagine c!Sam to downright torture him, people that prefer to see c!Dream as nothing but evil due to his actions imagine prison on the DSMP to not be equivalent to real life prison, and thus nowhere near as torturous as people are making it out to be.
Now all that is thrown out the window as c!Quackity quite literally tortures him.
So now the internet is faced with a question that, judging by some of the impulsive reactions *cough cough* celebrating torture *cough*, it didn’t turn out to be ready for.
Tell me.
How far do we go?
C!Dream hurt a LOT of people. He did a lot of things that caused irreparable damage. Now what? Do we torture him forever? Why? Because he deserves it? How do we determine that without comparing one kind of pain to another?
It’s custom and kindof generally respectful not to compare people’s pain too accurately, because different things vary greatly in severity depending on the person that experiences them.
At what point do we say he’s suffered enough without comparing exile to the prison?
And if we DO compare, does that even make the question easier to answer?
And if he’s never suffered enough ever, killing them would be a mercy...
At what point has a person done enough damage that they “deserve” to die? What if someone only did half of the things c!Dream did. But if c!Dream gets infinite punishment, and half of infinity is still infinity, do they ALSO deserve endless suffering?
Do you think every person that did something you can’t emphasize with deserves to suffer for eternity and die?
I’m not saying we SHOULD emphasize with c!Dream. He did things we cannot justify, that NOTHING can justify. He did things that were, by their nature, unjustified.
I’m also not saying anybody should forgive him. I think it’s a GOOD thing that c!Tommy doesn’t want nor is narratively pushed to forgive c!Dream.
But c!Dream doesn’t need c!Tommy’s forgiveness to be... a person.
There’s a saying that I’m sure you know, that goes “I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.”, because there’s things you wouldn’t want any human being to experience. Not because you like them, not cause you think they’re right, but because they’re human.
And perhaps this is my personal opinion, but I don’t think c!Dream being a bad person justifies dehumanizing him, because then we get into an area where someone needs to meet criteria just to be human.
-
I met someone once, whom, because of outside circumstances I knew I probably wouldn’t meet again. We’d been getting along just fine for people who just met, and were both getting into an interesting discussion about morality. They kept insisting upon something I kept refuting, so they said they needed to get something off their chest.
They proceeded to tell me that they had, years ago, while a teen, manipulated someone in a relationship, pushed boundaries and tried to convince them to do things they didn’t really want to do to get what they wanted.
They cried, while telling me, too terrified to tell anybody they know, terrified nobody would ever speak to them again, insanely regretful of their actions. They didn’t know whether to go back and apologize or just stay as far away as humanly possible, didn’t know which one the right thing to do is.
It had been years, by then, and I talked them through it. I said that what they did was bad, and there’s no going around that. But I also said what I saw, which is someone who would never do something like that ever again. I saw a human being. Someone who regrets a mistake they did and now, after enough time has passed, would do anything to make it undone.
Someone who is too terrified to be close to anybody in fear that they would do it again. I don’t remember if they already went to therapy or not, but it was definitly on the table, or in the near future.
They asked me how I could possibly even keep talking to them after they told me all that. They implied they felt like some kind of monster despite literally chocking back tears, firmly convinced they don’t deserve to be close to anybody in their life ever again.
I never swerved from the fact that what they did was wrong, and harmful. But I also told them they’re human. The universe isn’t keeping score. They want to be a better person now, and they were never going to learn how if they never let themselves be close to anybody.
I told them to seek therapy, and to slowly, carefully, try. Assured them that the fact that they regret it so strongly will at least help them in not falling back into the same pattern, and if they do, they can learn to recognize that.
They thanked me after the conversation, genuinely, especially for the fact that I didn’t sugarcoat what happened, because I know otherwise it would’ve felt like I was lying, like I was just sparing their feelings. I wasn’t. I was thinking about how to make sure they get to live without hurting anybody.
As per the circumstances, we didn’t speak again after that, which we knew basicly from the very start.
-
I still think about that conversation a lot.
Do you think they should’ve been locked up for life after it happened, instead?
Do you think this real human being, that I spoke to, that took years to realize their mistake - and never would have realized it if they hadn’t had the time to, if they’d been killed right afterwards - deserves to suffer forever?
Let me tell you something, from someone who’s been in more than one abusive situation: People that hurt you are human.
That doesn’t mean you have to forgive them. That doesn’t mean you have to like them. That doesn’t mean you have to make an effort to understand them. That doesn’t mean you need to go anywhere near them ever again.
You can hate them. You can be angry at them. You can (and should) go as far away from them as possible, and/or defend yourself.
But that doesn’t mean you have to dehumanize them.
You’re allowed to hate and dislike people that are human, because you’re human, especially if they hurt you. That’s how life is.
And to go back to my original point - c!Quackity torturing c!Dream is not something that should be celebrated.
There’s a difference between necessary measures (locking c!Dream up so he doesn’t hurt anyone), and torturing people for fun.
It’s not right. It’s never going to be right, and do not justify literal torture on human beings, and do not make someone lower-than-human to justify torturing them.
Taking revenge on someone for what they did tenfold is romanticized, I know, but I promise you it’s not actually as cool as it sounds.

hhhhng I want answers to all of them for everyone BUT, how about:
Why did you give them the name they have? What is the in-universe reason for their name?
What inspired you to create your oc?
Does your oc have any notable skills or good personality traits? Why did you give them those traits? Why do they exist in-universe?
Which canon characters (if any) do the oc have bad relationships with? Why those characters?
Share a random piece of trivia about the creation of your oc. Examples: scrapped ideas or changes you didn't expect to make.
For Peter and Ren? No pressure to do 'em all, I'll be excited for any combination :)
AHHH thank you!!! I will absolutely Ramble on about my ocs so don't u worry heheh 💞
Why did you give them the name they have? What is the in-universe reason for their name?
Ren: I think I've actually answered this some time, a LONG time ago, but dont @ me i answer differently now LOL. In universe, he picked the name Ren because it's a shortening of Loren, the name of his Uncle who had the farm. The IRL reason for the name is because I see a lot of cool names at work and I write down my favs hahaaaa ((side note, i forgot until way after i created him, but the first guy i kissed at college was named Wren. I did not go anywhere.))
Peter: SOOO you get some bonus Calvin facts here too! Oringally Peter and Calvin were kind of the same character that I turned into two different guys. I had called them Peter kind of as a place holder bc I was reading a lot of Spideypool at the time, and well. You know what happens with placeholder names. Then I redesigned them both, and the demon felt more like a Calvin to me, so vampire boy got to keep the Peter name! In universe, Peter's original last name was something generic like Brown or Smith idk but once he was bit and Maggie started calling him Peter V. Pyre as a joke, it kinda stuck. (Later on, Florence ends up taking the name Pyre as well. Makes things a lot easier for everyone, and she says it feels more 'her')
Ok this is already long so I'm gonna put the rest under a cut!
What inspired you to create your oc?
Ren: My baby boy was my Outer World's Captain! That's how he started, my first play through was as "Ash" but only in name really. Then I finished the game and was like must consume fanfic, which then lead to me developing Ren as his own Boy. I had been working on a lot of lore for Ash and my Fallout 4 OCs! Then I was like "Ohhhhhh no,,,,, sorry my children Ren's my fav right now"
Peter: Cowboy Vampire. Needed one. Also a lot my ocs starts as loosely veiled self inserts so they tend to all be a little similar in like,,, body shape and size so I was like... Beefy cowboy vampire???
Does your oc have any notable skills or good personality traits? Why did you give them those traits? Why do they exist in-universe?
Ren: He's really good at like, being stealthy, because that's how I TRIED to play TOW the first time. I am impatient, so Ren get all the patience I don't have LOL. In Universe I ended incorporating it into his backstory- he's got a bit of a criminal background and learned how to get around unseen and unheard during that time. It helps that he's a small boy :3
Peter: He's got some fun Vampire ~abilities~ that probs vary from story to story bc im too lazy to stick a set of rules. Stuff like being able to see in the dark, and like, idk he's got some good reflexes. Also a heightened sense of smell. Bc of reasons. All of those are just cuz its fun tbh! I also have him being a really good shot with a pistol BEFORE his transformation, so with his reflexes as a vamp he's near unmatched.
Which canon characters (if any) do the oc have bad relationships with? Why those characters?
Ren: In TOW Canon, aside from the obvious, he's got a rough relationship with Max for... most of the story lol. For a while he'd ONLY travel with Max if Parvati was with them as well. She's the only one he wasn't constantly arguing with. Max's "violence is the immediate answer to everything" attitude reminds Ren of some not so great ppl in his past, and after Fallbrook, Max is on Ren's shit list. Max becomes more tolerable to him after Scylla, but Ren still never gets as close to Max as he does the other crew.
Also Lilya Hagen specifically bc she tried to "poison" him once.
Peter: I haven't really figured out a lot of details, but at least in the beginning, he and Calvin have a... tense relationship. Peter wouldn't consider them friends for a while, a work partner maybe. Calvin likes to push Peter's buttons and Peter doesn't really understand at first that Calvin is just having fun. Calvin IS a demon, though, so they know exactly what they're doing. ((Bonus fun fact: Peter is actually legitimately older than Calvin. Peter was born in uhh some time in the 1790s? and Calvin was born in 1933))
Share a random piece of trivia about the creation of your oc. Examples: scrapped ideas or changes you didn't expect to make.
Ren: Ren was supposed to be a lot younger at first! Originally I had him ~25 during the games events, but then as I developed him more i was like.... what if.... older??? A lot of that was inspired by my need to give Felix someone older than him that WOULDN'T fucking betray him in some way. So, you have my love for Felix to thank for Ren's age In turn, because I made him older, I ended up having a lot more time to play with in Ren's pre Halcyon life, which created Johnny.
Peter: Peter's still pretty new so there's not too much I haven't already talked about BUTTT a little peek into the future of Peter's story, I did end up expanding on the Maggie/Peter relationship, and it's part of Peter's eh origin story now~
#heheh thank you!!! feel free to ask for more if u want i genuinely love these#i might double dip for u too haha#ask game#orignial character#the outer worlds

idk how many people would even want to see this BUT i wanna yell about Leela and Brax so here's a list of all their scenes togethr/scenes pertainng to them that i can recall (pLEASE add on if i missed anything/ you have any additional thoughts!! i could talk about these two all day!)
right off the bat in Weapon of Choice when Leela is on the outskirts of the Citadel and Brax goes to bring her back (which is interesting in and of itself, bc usually i would imagine a chancellery guard would go do that so what made Brax decide to instead??), Leela kinda goes off at him bc she's hurting and instead of trying to actually explain what's going on Brax doesn't even try to argue he just says "we need you" which is great bc Leela has that instinctive desire to be needed and to help people and he's speaking right to that -- also as far as we know, this is Leela and Brax's first actual meeting in canon? it's implied that they know of each other, which makes sense, but it doesn't seem like they've ever directly interacted before: Brax seems almost slightly uncertain, and Leela is combative, but when he's gentle with her she's actually quite receptive
the literal next scene after that, where the OT4 is all in one room for the first time (they still kinda hate each other at this point but still !!!). Narvin explaining Gryben and being a real jerk about it and Leela (understandibly!) questions if Gryben is a prison world, and Brax (who to this point has been mostly quiet as Narvin and Romana brief Leela) jumps in to both clarify Narvin's previous xenophobic statements while also maintaining the inherent questionable/negative connotations
(btw it's actually pretty important to note that Romana self-edits herself a lot when talking to Leela, especially in the earlier seasons; you can actually hear her revising the things she says to put it in terms that she thinks Leela will better understand. and i mean she does it out of genuine consideration for her friend associate but it often comes across as varying levels of patronizing. Narvin also obviously "dumbs things down" when dealing with Leela early on, but like... Brax never does that on any level. the only difference i can tell in how he addresses Leela vs how he talks to anybody else is that he seems much more kind with her than almost anyone else???)
their conversation about the Matrix in The Inquiry: this is REALLY important (and if you've ever talked to me on ao3 i've probably gone off to you about it lol) because it's layered. they're talking about the Matrix but they're also not because in answering Leela's question Brax is making a very thinly veiled allegory (which he outright states a minute later) to Time Lord society/politicians/most importantly HIMSELF -- he's actually strangely open about his morals/beliefs in this scene and i'm living for it tbh -- and i find it very interesting that even though he does directly explain what he means ("how do you know all this?" / "because i am a politician.") he also leaves it for Leela to work out the implications. like it's a very nuanced conversation bc there's double meaning in it and most people on Gallifrey seem to think that Leela is tone-deaf and can't pick up on that stuff (even Romana sometimes oversimplifies things to her) but Brax totally just lets her take from it what she will bc he believes her intelligent enough to understand. he doesn't think her any lesser because she's human.
ALSO on a secondary note to the above: the fact that Leela has a question/needed clarification (sorry, haven't listened to this in a while i forget how it actually happened) and actively sought out Brax to talk to about it?? like she knows Romana better she could have gone to her but i feel like Leela kinda imprinted on Brax and someone she can go to for help if she needs it; maybe it's partly bc she knows he's under marginally less pressure than Romana is but also the truth of the matter is that Brax was the most genuinely helpful person to her in the previous stories and that probably means a lot to her (esp. bc he acts like the essence of everything she hates about Gallifrey but he doesn't treat her the way she would expect from that). btw this topic is gonna come up again in a hot minute
that part where Brax gives her that information that might help her re: the Andred thing, even though he really probably shouldn't have done that -- it kinda makes me think about what he must have been like with Theta tbh???
actually this is mostly my own conjecture but there's some neat stuff in Spirit bc during the *waves hand vaguely* bodyswap dream sequence thing, Romana is very "!!!! Brax can help us !!!" which is tecnically Leela brain talking, so like there's the implications of the stuff i've said above about Leela having this idea of Brax where she knows he's someone she can go to for help
can u tell i'm soft for them
Leela sounding really sad/distracted when she talks about how Brax isn't there YES i'm grasping at straws but a lot of this relationship really is conveyed through the voice acting bc of how little direct focus there is on the characters. there's actually several scenes in Mindbomb where she mentions him and she outright says that she misses him during her discussion with Matthias
that implied scene with them in Mindbomb!! i have a Lot of thoughts about that!!! it's all conjecture and fanfic fodder!!! but the reason i mention this is because it seems pretty meta that out of the whole Gally Gang, it's Leela who first sees Brax when he comes back to Gallifrey and in turn she's the first person (besides Matthias, i guess) that he sees upon his return?? idk i just feel like that's somehow a meaningful detail??? also her reaction of utter shock after spending the entire episode missing him and how worked up she is when she tries to tell Romana, like I desperately need to know what happened in this missing scene MR RICHARDS PLEASE TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED
Leela insisting on going with Brax when Pandora starts hurting him and their whole conversation there is just. so good. like they're both just so soft and then when Darkel comes in Leela instantly goes into protective mode. like they just have such an open relationship bc Brax doesn't even try to be all pretentious with her, like he doesn't even try to keep up any facades when he's with her he's just very genuine and it really says a lot about both of them -- Leela is so good at seeing people, like getting down to the core of who people are and what makes them them (which is why she's good for Romana, btw, bc Romana has a lot of identity issues) and Brax is so tangled up in who he presents himself as that he barely knows who he actually is anymore but Leela can see that and she makes it so he can truly be himself and he doesn't have to hide. also she's so gentle with him when they talk about Pandora, she's very caring and empathetic and wants to make sure he's okay and i am WEAK
it's been a hot while since i listened to Panacea but I think i remember Brax being really soft with Leela when he first brings the gang to the Axis, like just sounding really glad to see her
ok other than the fact that Brax is lowkey relatable in Reborn (daydreaming fanfic about yourself/people you know? simping for Mary Tamm Romana? yeah mood, my man) there's that scene where they're first appraoching the Citadel on the alt!Gallifrey and it seems like none of them, and Brax specifically, have seen it from the outside in a good long while bc he's very in awe and he tells Leela that he wishes she could see it and he sounds sO hEcKiNg sOFT oh my word-
and once again with Leela thinking of Brax as someone she trusts for help: in Dissassembled when everything is going to crap she straight-up says that she wants to go find Brax bc he'll know what to do/be able to help
at the beginning of Annihilation when Romana is depressed and questioning if Brax truly was her friend and Leela INSTANTLY, NO HESITATION assures her that he was; i lost where i had her exact lines written down but she actually kinda goes off to make sure Romana gets the point
literally forcing myself to talk about this bc it makes my brain stall out but like,,, the Brax Hound in Annihilation,,, Leela being like "goodbye, Braxiatel... again" she sounds so sad and like UGH i always kinda forget how sad it actually is for them to lose Brax in Dissassembled bc like, it was so sudden and they didn't get to say goodbye and Leela is always losing people and i have many many feels about this scene and how all that emotion is made very clear in how they each respond to the Hound (might make a separate post abt this later if anyone is interested ::eyes::)
Enemy Lines is utter bullcrap about these two and I will never stop being salty about how they not only sidelined the very good, very subtle friendship they had in s1-4, but they??? made Leela acutally not trust Brax??? when literally this entire time she's been the one person who probably genuinely trusts him the most?? what the heck, David
I haven't heard TW3 or 4 yet but i'm assuming there's nothing worthwhile in those with regards to this duo (correct me if i'm wrong tho lol, i would love to be mistaken in this assumption)
TL;DR Leela and Brax mututally imprinted on each other and have probably the most open and healthy relationship within the OT4 and it is an absolute CRIME that nobody besides Gary Russell and Justin Richards cared enough to actually build on it in canon
#Lu rambles#long post#meta#Gallifrey audios#big finish audios#leela of the sevateem#chara tag: then reason is a liar#irving braxiatel#(still don't have a chara tag :(( )#weapon of choice#the inquiry#spirit#mindbomb#panacea#reborn#dissassembled#annihilation#i relistened to Mindbomb again to factcheck myself#i forgot how much good brax-leela stuff there is in it#the last time i heard it was pre-this duo taking over my braincells#relationship: remember your heart

For the shipping headcanons? Pick whichever you want to answer! Cuz if it's up to me I'd pick them all😅
okay I'm going to do this for Nick x Ziggy. Lol in all my fics these things vary so I'm going to try and keep it strictly to canon and my head canons for canon verse. cool. this thing is definitely going to sprawl
SFW
2. I mean Ziggy seems to be like an organized messy kind of person if that makes sense. So there's piles of books and things but she seems like she knows where everything is. Nick is a lot neater. From what we saw of his hideous house, all his records and books seemed organized. I think precision is something helps him feel in control - so organizing books by genre and author because he's weird like that. Ziggy likes being the only one knowing where everything is in her house as a safety thing.
4. LOL Nick doesn't strike me as a handy man but there's also the secret passage/devil tunnel to keep in mind. But he'd probably use devil magic to make sure his house is never out of order. Ziggy doesn't like anyone in her house so she tries to be self-reliant because she's a recluse. I do think Nick would try and fix something if Ziggy asked him to but it'd be clear he didn't know what he's doing (he's a cop/satanic worshipper not a plumber lol) and she'd just laugh and take over.
7. I don't think either of them like going to the beach that much. Ziggy has her scars (which I don't think she likes showing to anyone outside of her bedroom or something) and Nick doesn't like being around big crowds of snooping people and screaming children. He strikes me as someone who likes being like himself (again, his hideous house). But they wouldn't mind going with each other to a private one. Nick being filthy rich helps in that regard
10. Ziggy has Major Tom as a pet as we saw in the film (I think it took her a while to be willing to take on that responsibility tbh). Nick is a cat person. I don't know why, but in my mind he loves cats. He pampers them and definitely uses the curse to keep them alive almost unnaturally long and making sure they never get sick.
13. Ziggy 100% sleeps more. Nick may love cats, but she sleeps like one. She likes naps a lot. Nick doesn't sleep much because of how much he works and I like to think the devil bugs him. But he does like taking naps with her/will hold her during the nightmares. I think they 50/50 alternating between who's the big and little spoon. Ziggy likes feeling protected, but sometimes Nick after a long shift just likes to be held (because his parents don't strike me as the affectionate type), and Ziggy likes fulfilling that need every so often
NSFW
4. I mean in one of my fics they had sex in his cop car. oh and in an [empty] preschool. I don't think they'd do it anywhere too too public
15. I don't have much to say except that Nick would kill any guy or girl that Ziggy slept with. Like nope! That is 100% something he will kill you over - and expressing any romantic interest. Just nope. Maybe if Ziggy didn't like them they'd get a pass, but they'd certainly be exiled somewhere far far away. I think Ziggy is possessive too (though to a far less murderous degree). she certainly wouldn't consent to be his dirty little secret while he goes home to a wife and kids or something. Nick is hers, goddamnit. She definitely looks in the announcements section to see if he's married/dating anyone.
This was a lot of fun! feel free to ask me more about this ship or another one.
