He lets you in on the insecurities that lap at his ankles much more often than he'd ever had liked to have admitted before. He lets you hold him when he shatters instead of pushing you away, —dulls all his rigid edges to feel your warmth surround him, as if lowering all his defenses for the very first time. The world can be a cruel place to those that have made mistakes, but Hyun feels like he's finally found someone who can look at him for more than just the pretty, well-kempt face he maintains for the public. There's no sense of shame he feels the need to drown in when you let him fall apart in your arms. There's no crushing feeling of disappointment or suffocating feeling of disdain. He's more human than he fears he's ever been when your thumbs wipe the tears from beneath his eyes and you whisper to him that everything will be okay.

Yoosung, who learns over time how to not let things fester until they’ve built up so much he can’t keep them in any longer. For all he is and might not ever be, he’s come to realize that it’s okay to express his emotions before they reach a boiling point. He comes to you at the onset of upsetedness, —allows himself to feel frustrated without stuffing it down and pretending the problem doesn’t exist until it explodes. He finds that it’s so much easier to be earnest when you never talk down to him or make him feel like he’s any less of a person in your eyes because of it. Sometimes he needs advice, and other times, he just needs someone to talk to. No matter the case, he seeks you out before anyone else, knowing that you care enough about him to value his thoughts and opinions without qualifiers or regulations. He holds grudges sometimes that aren’t good for his own sake, and being shut down when he tries to address them only adds fuel to the fire. Having someone who truly listens and tells him that it’s okay to feel the way he does goes such a long way, —perhaps longer than you’ll ever know.

＃ SAEYOUNG (707) !! ♡

Saeyoung, who lets himself be honest eventually, —who lets himself chip away and then lets you smooth him over. He’s done a lot of things he’s not proud of, and he doesn’t need anyone to tell him that it wasn’t his fault. Whether it was or wasn’t doesn’t matter as much as what he knows he has to do going forward, and the last thing he really wants is to be coddled out of pity. He just wants to be heard, no sympathy necessary, no fawning over the way he sheds the skin he used to wear when he felt like happiness was millions of miles away. He just wants to be listened to. To Saeyoung, it’s the ultimate show of trust to admit to all the things he regrets, let them spill out like word vomit and not have to worry about the consequences. He doesn’t need you to understand, and knows you likely can’t given the specifics of his life’s course thus far, but knowing that you’re keen on carrying the burden with him is such an insurmountable feeling of relief. Finally, someone knows every grimy little corner of his soul and they still love him, still hold him, still want him. . . There’s nothing quite like it.

Saeran, who lets little things slip as time goes on, —stares a little longer when he passes twin popsicles in grocery stores because he knows you won’t ask why. As much as he likes to pretend that he can fix things by pretending they never hurt him in the first place, there are always scars that linger just below the surface, ready to burst at the first sight of mint-colored liquids or at the first sound of deceptively sweet voices offering commands from the shadows. He carries a lot around with him wherever he goes, and just loving him until the sun dies isn’t a cure-all. You can’t turn back time and shield him from all the things in his life that have left him feeling like a shattered stain glass window. All the love in the world can’t fix the past. But there’s nothing that means more to him than knowing he can lean on you, —even if he doesn’t always do it. There’s such a sweet comfort in knowing he can turn to you when he feels like he’s drowning. And if sometimes that manifests only in letting himself shed a few tears while he eats an ice cream cone outside next to you in the sunshine, then so be it.

Jihyun, who talks about it all a little at a time, —about the good and the bad, the ugly and the beautiful; because it wasn’t always bad. Reviewing GG character design part #1 GG 1998 Axl

I chose him first because he's the best char obviously.

Hear me out. Character design is not meant to be appealing to all viewers, they are meant to tell you about the character. If it end up being appealing to you, it's for a personal reason. FGs will, obviously, try to be as appealing as possible with their character menu for you to choose the most appetizing because they need money from your horniness and devotion. But despite all that capitalism mindset, the idea is always to explore the origin, personality, preferences and such, from the respective character.

I will try to separate it into some sections that are relevant, such as: 1. What does it tell about their personality (in Axl's case, British) 2. Is it visually appealing to some extend? (a bit more personal from an artistic pov) 3. Is it actually PRACTICAL realistically speaking? (a bit more logical from a "would anyone actually use this to fight?) and etc.

I was actually considering putting every GG game in this post, but it would take way too long and be boring to read, I think.

GG 1998

This design is quite interesting and pleasant. I see that many of us, Axlettes (this sound literally like a pokemon name, but I will stick to that for serious reasons) seem to like this one.

What does it tell you about Axl?

He's British.

just kidding. Actually... not entirely. He has that damned flag on his boots' tip, and it's a detail that really does tell you where he is from, specially in a game where you won't hear him s'peakin like di's mate. I'm not including his stage bg of course, but exclusively what you can tell by simply looking at him. He wears some grunge/punk-like bracelets, which makes him look like... well, a punk. The bandana he wears, his choice of weapon, his torn sleeves, and even the fact that his eyebrows aren't visible, gives you the impression of someone dangerous, someone you would easily see on a gang. I wouldn't be surprised if anyone who just started this game, and had just seen him, would fear him somehow. To some extend, he gives me the same energy as Billy Kane from the Fatal Fury/KOF series (they are both British and zoners and do the cat emoji smirk).

Is it visually appealing overall?

Short answer: Yes, it is. He wears a short jacket that has the same color as his shorts. That's very, very pleasant to watch, due to the harmony it presents. It gets even better when both pieces are torn at the ends. And to continue this harmonic idea, his boots are the same color as his gloves, and the details on his boots are red like his bandana. It's a never ending cycle of good usage of colors. The only considerably random color choice is that the bracelets have blueish spikes on in-game sprites, but it matches both the blue are of the flag on his boot, and the jeans colored clothing he wears. Although...

Here you can see that on the art they are white, like they were supposed to. It's normal to change when in-game due to pixel reasons, but either way. Now, with that picture from just above in mind, I wanted to say that it's very nice detail from his belt having a skull (he's sooo fire dude wow), which compliments the grunge concept of his one-arm spiky bracelet. His sickle matches the spikes very nicely too, but the best part of all that is the gap between his short jacket and his shorts. They just compliment in a very satisfactory parameter, not making it entirely blueish, but just enough for it to match nicely (it's kind of hard to explain it, but when I keep repeating this over and over on the next reviews it will make more sense).

But what I'm trying to say is this.

Just see how nicely the colors were placed on his design. It just follows a very perfect cycle. I KNOW my friends tend to think i'm out of my fucking mind because of how perfectionist I'm about those little things but it's so amazing really.

Is it actually PRACTICAL to fight with that figurine?

Mostly, yes. I do think so. Despite the fact that high boots really do bother you when you do complex movements with them, I wear them a lot and even when walking sometimes it bothers me, I can't even imagine fighting. But it's just a minor detail, they aren't even high enough to actually be some nuisance. His short clothes make it easier to move, despite being jeans. But it's a nice choice, you can actually fight with that in general and still look cool.

THIS is not practical at all. At some point everyone will see your boobs and it's not nice. But if he wants to be a whore...

Overall

Masterpiece, beautiful and functional. It's something someone like him would wear really, specially from his epoch and all. And I want to kiss Ishiwatari's mouth

Well! I can tell you my favorite part of writing a story (or reading one!) is character, followed closely by worldbuilding. But what's most important is a little more difficult to simply pick one thing. A good story has all of these things in spades. A good, solid plot idea. Characters that the author knows well. Clever worldbuilding aspects that make the setting seem real...and a good handle on language and grammar all work together to create a fantastic experience. So there's no most important part -- just that all of it has been given the author's best possible effort (:

🎈describe your style as a writer; is it fixed? does it change?

Ohhh I love this. Mostly because it's such a Thing (tm) in art spaces and is always a topic of conversation. I don't hear about it much for writers, except maybe "voice/tone" in critique circles. All I can say is that style regardless of medium is composed of certain habits the artist incorporates into their work.

For writing, that's going to be specific turns of phrase that tend to be used, perhaps it can be a series of tropes or situations the writer tends to focus on or include in their work. Just like with art, style changes the more skill you gain in your particular craft. Even so, a style may still seem "fixed" to the average reader, even if with each project, you improve and things change to suit.

So my go-to style is usually writing close third limited with rotating pov characters (: But even if I were to say, switch to first person with just one character through the whole story and posted it anonymously there's certain ways that I word things and certain themes that might make a reader be like "Oh this sounds like something Mareena might have written." It's weirdly difficult to describe exactly... but I hope that kind of makes a little sense lol

🤲what do YOU get out of writing?

This is an excellent question, my goodness. Writing fic has been so healing for me for so many reasons. I've had a really rough time the last few years irl with life throwing everything it can at me to try and grind me down. For a bit, it actually did, I suppose, and I'd stopped writing much at all. I hated everything I was producing, if anything at all and it was just a bad time.

Things looked up a little when I decided it didn't matter how good the writing was, but that I got something down on paper. I'd just finished a month-long art challenge for myself (I painted 31 pokemon and it was a lot of fun, even if it wasn't perfect) and I wanted to plan out something similar -- low stakes, just for fun. With the help and encouragement of some of my irl friends, a little help with an idea and MANY MUCH planning, The World on Our Shoulders started as a challenge to write and post daily, damn the consequences.

Since then, I've been revising. Some of my characters (not all just the MC either) have been given some of my problems. I like to write hope into hopeless situations anyway. It's cathartic to see characters experience the same huge emotions I can relate to and make it through to the other side. I get to write that. I get to be in control of the narrative for them, no matter how hard it gets before its resolution. It helps me believe in myself and my own strength, too. It's funny how art does that, I think. (:

🧿what steps do you take to not take things personally if a fic doesn't do well, or if your writing/posting/sharing experience isn't going how you'd like it to?

Well I suppose the "doesn't do well" part mostly doesn't affect me because of my stance on social media and hustle culture. At the end of the day, it's not about how many comments or kudos or likes my fic/posts get, it's about having fun making the content. I am writing for myself first, in this case, and for the readers second. I am lucky to have a circle of mutuals that I love hearing from regarding fandom things here on tumblr and discord. We support each others' creative endeavors and that is, in my eyes, doing well. If it brings joy, even just to me, it's good. It's doing well. My steps are simply to write, and share. The rest is nothing to worry over.

🐦 What would you like to see MORE of, in the fandoms you're following. Could be writing/art related, could be fandom culture related. What would you like to see exist that doesn't at the moment (or doesn't anymore)?

Well, would I even be me if I didn't say I wanted to see more Teldryn fics in the TES tags (: So yes, that. But more than that, I'm interested in different takes for the character. For any characters, really. I want to see deep stories with lots of different perspectives on lore and the handling of different quests in the game. I want adventure, I want witty dialogue, I want flawed OCs that team up with the coolest NPCs to go out and discover what they're really capable of. If they happen to be Teldryn stories, all the better.

I do want to see people finish some of their WIPS, too. I know that's a big ask. But there's so many on AO3 at least that have been unfinished for months, years even and I want to encourage all those writers and cheerlead their work. I know very well that sometimes life just gets in the way of being able to devote so much time to a project. But I hope everyone who has an unfinished and/or back-burnered TES fic (or any fic, really) sees this and knows I'm rooting for you. Your work is WORTH IT. Your stories matter. (:

So I guess another facet to this answer is, for fandom in general, more cheering each other on. Writers ought to stick together, after all. I'd love to see even more supportive, kind words for each other. More encouragement in general. I see too much silliness and arguments over the details in fandom and the only way to change that is to loudly support each other as often as possible.

Valentine's day confusion part 4

Part 3 - Part 5

The first shop he thought to take cream to was the crafty scraggy, he remembers them opening up when the dynamax apocalypse happened, the owner had plenty of Pokemon who could make silk and sew so they opened up shop to help out more folks and eventually it evolved into a punk themed homemade crafts store, it was the best first stop as any for their valentine gift for Marnie. It was fun seeing cream make various weird shapes on their face in reaction to the various products on display, strange but fun. "IS THAT A SOFT SPIKY HEART CUSHION?!" Cream was sudden and loud as they practically threw themselves at the items on display, a soft cushion with fake spikes around it's edges, it was in a set with the words "I may be spiky, but I'd like you to be mine" written across the pair, he wasn't one to judge cheesy lines, it's not like he was good at romance by any means, but cream seemed to find it great. Excitedly pointing to it and making... Noises he really didn't know they could make. he slowly walked over, slow enough to cause cream to run back and physically drag him over to where it was displayed, unfortunately by the time they both got back there someone else had grabbed the cushions, the last ones in stock. Cream made one of those angry circles emoticons? On their face, piers had no idea what it was but understood what it meant at least "you were too slow! 💢 Now it's gone!" They huffed, he didn't even try to understand how they made that noise with their mouth, he shrugged at their anger with nonchalance "no worries, it's not the only thin' in the store, and besides this is only one shop. I know some more we can head to" that seemed to convince them enough, though they almost deflated as their arms went below their shoulder holes? He really shouldn't try to understand their anatomy too much, their body just looked sad as they muttered out "yeah, and it wouldn't be enough for Marnie anyway, this needs to be perfect" as cream was moping, he spotted out of the corner of his eye, Marnie. she looked like she was too busy conversing with the cashier to notice them. If she was this determined for a surprise then he was sure she'd appreciate the help, so with a swift turn he grabbed creams shoulder.. bone? And positioned them towards the exit "here, how bout you pick the next shop? Show me your idea for a valentine's gift" they perked up at that, showing another image on their face as they rushed out with him following behind at a slower pace.

The next store was yampers electrics, cream had dragged him in, he's not sure what gift they'd thought of for Marnie from here though, it was more of a children's store themed more around electric devices, was around before the dynamax incident and only recently got enough supplies to make a comeback. While cream looked around for what they wanted, he idly checked out one of those kiddie night lights that projected the stars, he didn't get long before cream dramatically draped themselves infront of the object and on him "they don't have it in stock 🥺🥺" they whined out, he did his best to put the object back as cream fell to the floor. "What were you even lookin' for anyway?" They pulled their head up slightly to look at him with that sad emoji face as they spoke "I saw these little button toys you could press that makes the other one glow up, Marnie showed me on the rotom device, people use it as a way to communicate long distance to say I love you- I wanted one for Marnie and me but they're not here 🥺😞" ah, long distance heart things, as cream pulled themselves up from the floor he heard the doors bell ring, a glance showed that it was marnie- what did she need from here? As her big brother though it was his job to help out, so he directed creams attention to himself instead as they stood behind some shelves "those things are order online only anyway, don't worry too much about it. The days not over yet and I know one more store we can check out" cream picked themselves up fully off the floor, taking their arm and shaking it down like some kinda broom before reattaching it to their lack of a shoulder. "One last chance- nothing here so far has been good enough for Marnie! And it's gotta be perfect- she deserves all my love not just some of it!" They sounded determined as they left the shop, narrowly missing Marnie as piers went out while she wasn't looking, Guiding cream to the last shop.

Indeedee accessories, a quaint little shop that sold jewelry of all types, "an accessories shop❔❔why are we here?" Piers walked inside and let cream follow him, showing them a line of necklaces in the corner. "When Marnie was younger, she really looked up to me, I knew I couldn't really be the best guy for her though but I still wanted to make her feel happy. So... I saved up enough money from battles and got her a choker, we came here once before and she couldn't stop starin' at it so, I thought she'd like it and she did. She loved it, I thought maybe you could get her something from 'ere too" he looked away as he told his story but when he looked back, cream was... Making a sobbing face? "That is... a lovely story!! You love Marnie a lot, like how I love my parents. But... How can I compete with that gift? I can't replace that, how can I show her my love when... When it isn't enough? She deserves more than this..." Ah, there it was. He was aware cream had some... Ideas about their creation, but hadn't seen much of it in action himself "hey- she loves you, your gift doesn't have to be perfect, it's just gotta... Come from the heart, ya know?" When he said that, they got dots for a face as they thought, before suddenly showing a lightbulb and accidentally blinding him as they thought of something "that's it! I know the perfect gift now! Thanks piers!" And with that, cream had ran out of the shop in a mad rush. Just in time too, as Marnie walked in and looked surprised seeing her brother there "piers? What are you doing shoppin' here? You got a secret valentine I should know about?" He gave his sister a small smile at that "nah, I'm just helping someone else out, and from the looks of it they've found what they're looking for"

mumbo works in a pokemon containment facility meant to observe and rehabilitate hostile/abandoned pokemon (either via adoption or relocation to the wild) and is in charge of keeping the servers running and making sure the database is up to date, which it frequently is not. grian tries training against mumbo often, but you can only battle the same trainer so main times before memorizing his movesets and using the same battle strategy over and over again, so mumbo gives him scar's number and suggests grian train with him instead. scar's only been retired a few years so he tends to have to shoo away rookie trainers from his front porch all the time, but grian instead offers to run favors for him (entirely by accident. scar's reputation FAR precedes himself, and was known for knocking trainers flat on their ass countless times when facing his team. plus, being one of the youngest professional gym trainers in the area, it's hard to get some peace and quiet.) scar finds this hilarious and decides to give grian a stupid amount of tasks to do, ranging from grocery shopping to weeding his garden, until grian finally caves and admits why he's really here. grian fully expects to be sent away, but scar is swayed by grian's persistence and complete dedication to the, objectively speaking, pointless tasks he was given, so scar agrees to help train grian's team.

misc. notes here: mumbo is the oldest of the three at about 26, with grian being 22 and scar 25. i think it's weird that pokemon just lets children run off and be trainers so let's assume that's not common practice here mumbo has a handful of badges, mostly so that his pokemon will listen to him. nearly all of his pokemon (minus the noctowl and the porygon) were gifted to him, so they're a little unruly at times. scar raised all of his pokemon either from eggs or newly born. (if i weren't working with gen 2 he would 100% have a sylveon) grian's eevee was actually a gift from scar, given to grian as an egg that he took great care in watching over.

can you review tangela and tangrowth

Tangela is a neat little guy. I always liked the mystery of what it really looks like (not really something isolated to this Pokemon, but always neat when they play into that angle), and how the tangles are actually vines that grow from it, much like how IRL vines will automatically wrap around nearby objects. The fact that the vines are blue rather than the expected green adds a bit of uniqueness to it, as does how the vines lack leaves.

Really, I don't have many issues with it. I think my only big thing is that I'm not huge on the red feet. I know some people like it because it looks like it's wearing little shoes, but it's just strange to emphasize the least important part of the design to me, you know?

Also, the middle of the body tends to be portrayed as an orb with tendrils around it, when the entire idea is that black area is supposed to be shadow (so in the official art, for example, there shouldn't be a highlight on the black). I also prefer the eyes being a little closer together. It's a minor thing, but it does look its best when it's just the 👀 emoji in a black void.

Tangela is also notable for having both a scrapped pre-evo and evo. The pre-evo was supposed to look like this:

Which I do like, but at the same time, I don't think it was a major loss to lose. It works really well with the scrapped evolution, which I'll get to in a bit, but on its own it's not really needed.

Tangrowth is a Bigger Tangela, for better or worse. Don't get me wrong, it's not identical--the lower body's different, it has vine arms now, the proportions are changed--but conceptually, it's more or less the same thing as Tangela. Whether or not this is a good or a bad thing really depends on how much you like the original Tangela.

For me, it's fine, but I do have a few visual problems with it. The body feels like it's a bit easier to make out (more like it's covered in vines rather than the entire shape underneath being ambiguous, if that makes sense), especially due the black on the face/body being more of a grey. The vines being merged together is okay in theory--keeps the design from being too complicated--but it also feels weirdly, I don't know, "melted" or fused when you see them in the actual model, if that makes any sense. On the plus side, the less red on the feet combined with the new accents on the arms make the red feel a lot more purposeful than it was on Tangela.

Still, though, I can't help but feel like they could've done more here. Though that may be because we know what the beta looks like, and let me tell you:

This. This is perfect, from both a visual and conceptual standpoint.

First, if you look at the original pre-evo, the line was supposed to go one eye -> two eyes -> mouth, something that adds a nice secondary element in addition to the tangles. The mouth also adds some great personality to this little creature, something somewhat lacking in the actual Tangela line as-is.

But secondly, look at the vines on this. The vines along the body are neatly stacked, the vines above the mouth form a set of "bangs", and the two vines on top form a bow. That's right: the original evolution of Tangela was supposed to have combed out the tangles. That is absolutely brilliant.

And visually speaking, I feel like this holds more of what I like about Tangela than Tangrowth does. The ambiguous body shape, the barely visible body parts, the individual tangles--all present.

Really, my only issues are that if those two vines below are supposed to be legs, they should be black, and the red could be worked in here somewhere (assuming the actual color would be blue); maybe along the bow or the two curls in front. It also could use maybe one more row of vines along the body, as it looks a little too short right now relative to Tangela. But that's it, and those are ultimately nitpicks.

And like I said: Tangela is good, and Tangrowth is perfectly fine for what it is. But when you consider how much this actually played off of Tangela's elements and themes in a clever way... my god, we were robbed.

Navigating Twisted Wonderland Pixiv

Disclaimer: I am not Japanese, I am far from being fluent in Japanese, and I am not very involved in the Japanese TWST fanbase. If you’re good at Japanese PLEASE add on to this or correct me if there are mistakes.

I haven’t seen anything like this around here, so I thought I would try to make a little thing to help people who also aren’t good at Japanese.

Resources

deepL : a translator created by a deep learning ai company. Extremely good (though not perfect of course), dump google translate right now and switch to this to make your life so much better.

jisho : An online dictionary. You can input english, japanese, and romaji japanese. There’s options to input kanji by drawing it or selecting radicals (the parts that make up a kanji) and there’s voice input. Great for translating single words/phrases. You can also use it to figure out the parts of a sentence since it tries to separate out and translate each part, though it’s not 100% reliable.

kanji . sljfaw . org : Another resource for finding kanji. I usually use its multiradical by type option, which separates the radical options into enclosure, left, upper, middle, and less common elements.

hougen . hirosakicity . com : An example of dictionary for Tsugaru dialect, the dialect Epel uses. This doesn’t cover every single Tsugaru dialect word though. When I was trying to understand Epel in the December update I had to use like 3 different dictionaries.

Any search engine : “Meaning” in Japanese is 意味. Put that after whatever word/phrase you need help with and search it, hopefully you’ll find something.

If you’re learning Japanese like me, I recommend using quizlet or something so you can make a collection of words you’ve had to look up and then test yourself on them occasionally to increase the chances of remembering it.

Finally, if you can’t read hiragana/katakana, please learn it it will probably help you a lot. It’s not scary alright, just read the learning hiragana and katakana guides on tofugu then find a quizlet set and keep testing yourself on them until you’ve got those mnemonics down well. You’ll be slower than a snail at reading it at first but just keep getting practice and it’ll gradually get faster and feel more natural to you.

Ship names

The Japanese spellings for stuff like the character names can all be found on the english wiki, so I’m not putting them all here.

I’ll teach you how to form TWST ship names though, based on my observations. Ship names are generally formed using the first 2 katakana of each person’s name. First 3 if there’s small katakana. If there’s a dash in the way, it’ll stop before it like Deuce (デュース) becoming Deu (デュ), it will delete the dash to keep going like Ace (エース) becoming エス, or leave the dash like Ace becoming エー. Also Jack (ジャック) becomes ジャク. Idk, use common sense to try and reason out what is short yet still identifiable as the character. If you can’t figure it out just search for the character, scroll until you see an obviously shippy image, then check its tags.

Edit: included Ace becoming エー. The shortening that is used depends on the ship.

Anyway, those shortened names are then smashed together with the “seme” going first to form the ship name. If you search a ship and you don’t find much, try switching around the names.

Examples: 

Floyd (フロイド) + Riddle (リドル) = FuroRido (フロリド)

Jade (ジェイド) + Silver (シルバー) = JeiShiru (ジェイシル)

You notice something about Floyd and Jade’s names? Yes, they both end in ido (イド). This is why ships involving the two of them with someone else are named things like IdoAzu (イドアズ) and IdoKali (イドカリ). Be careful not to mix up イドアズ with イデアズ, which is Idia and Azul.

A thing to note about names in general in the Japanese fan base is that they often use emojis for characters (ex. Jade is 🐬). Search ツイステの絵文字 in google images and you’ll find multiple guides on what characters are what emoji.

A/N: I did what I could. It’s mainly just birthday planning and birthday related activities for him since there wasn't much to go off onヾ(￣▽￣)

Raihan wakes up tired. He’s groggy and he regrets setting an alarm so early. The snooze button is swiped at and the ringing noise finally stops after a few agonizing moments. When he feels your hand on his body, resting over his chest, he’ll smile, a low “good morning” said in a breath below a whisper. It’s a few seconds of silence where he feels your hand over his chest. It takes a moment for him to remember that today is your birthday and his legs will kick up and he’s sitting up straight, looking down at your sleeping frame. He grabs your hand that has fallen to his lap and rests it back onto the mattress. He’s careful with his steps, stepping carefully out of bed and shushing you when your hand starts to pat at the empty space. He closes the door behind him as he goes to prepare for your day,

He wants to make your birthday special so he’ll plan meticulously, listing off things that you’ve mentioned liking or wanting in the past. While he doesn’t gift you everything that you’ve mentioned, he does get a fair amount. The smaller items are given to you in the morning while throughout the day, you are gifted more- he wants to make sure that your day is filled with surprises. The looks of shock and exasperation never gets old for him and he does snap a few pictures of you opening your morning gifts. It’s nothing much, simple things like a cute pair of socks or a mug decorated like your partner pokemon. He won’t answer how long it took him to find something that resembles them, but you’re sure it took a good portion of your time seeing as how he wanted you to open that one last.

Once the gifts have been opened and breakfast eaten, he’ll sit beside you, getting ready for a day at the gym. He’s made sure to make an announcement that he wouldn’t be available all day in hopes that he’ll leave early. He’ll promise to message you before he comes home to get ready. He won’t tell you much about your true surprise but he will manage to sneak in a few hints and winks of his eye. Before he leaves, he’ll kiss the top of your head, and tell you to not stress too much about your daily activities today. He has your lunch covered for you and despite the curious look, he only gives you a crooked grin and closes the door behind him.

It’s uncommon for you to tune into a battle of his if the timing is right. While seeing it in action is always entertaining, it also makes for great background noise. You clean around the home, the dishes stacked and washed, the scent of citrus in the air as a few stray bubbles rise in the air. Your mind has wandered as you begin to mutter to yourself, making plans of the day and what you can do before your partner comes home. Suddenly, you hear your name come from the television, your head turning as you shut the water to hear properly. You quickly dry yourself in time to see your partner wave his hands, a finger pointed to the screen as he wishes you a “happy birthday” and the crowd chants the same phrase until the battle starts. The battle is dedicated to you, the sign of the battle starting as the crowds’ cheers are drowned out by the sandstorm. You allow yourself to waste a bit of time, sitting on the couch and watching the battle dedicated to you.

You’ve received a few messages throughout the day, well wishes sent your way and promises of gifts. You rest at home while your partner scurries to his phone, quickly ordering one of your favorite meals to the shared home. He makes sure to tip generously, a message added in the box to simply give you your food and wish you a happy birthday. He wants you to get the most that he can give you today. He’ll order what he can, try to find a dessert shop that delivers close by in order to give you everything you can. He’ll feel pride swell in his chest when you message him a cute “thank you” accompanied with emojis and a nice spread of your food on the table. Anything to give you something that you’ll enjoy even if it's only for a moment. In the meantime, he makes sure the bigger gift is being prepared.

A simple message is sent your way, a picture of his shoes covered in sand as he tells you he’ll be on his way soon. You’re able to enjoy a shower undisturbed until he comes home. Once he enters, he gives you a small wave, gesturing to himself as sand seems to have gotten stuck in the seams of creases of his clothing. Once clean, he’ll scoop you into a big hug; the tip of his nose rubbed against yours. When he pulls away, he tells you that you two are going to a dinner with your shared friends. It isn’t the most extravagant, but it’s something nice, a dinner where you can eat to your heart’s content and have fun with your loved ones.

The drive there is short, his hand on your thigh and he makes small talk on the way. He tries to pry if you’ve watched his battle that was dedicated to you. He makes small comments, telling you how the crowd went wild at a certain point. Once you mentioned that you enjoyed the fight- making sure to comment that you’re glad he won for you- he’s giving you a slight pinch on your thigh for making him wait to hear your praise. At the restaurant, he’s a perfect gentleman, opening the door for you and hooking his arm with yours. You’re seated at a booth and he’s beside you, greeting the other guests and giving them warm greetings and taking the gifts simultaneously.

Throughout the meal, he’ll take a few pictures. It’s mostly to remember the moment, wanting to get a few printed and store them in a scrapbook or around the home. Most of the pictures that he has are to mess with later- either the filters or by adding stickers but there are a few that he will post on his social media. He enjoys the spotlight, and he wants to share this special moment with his loved ones on your day with others. It’s an odd sense of pride where he wants others to know that you are both in a happy, committed relationship but to also flaunt how stunning you are. His favorite picture- one that he posts and that he will most definitely keep- is where the group is huddle together, various hand gestures made as you smile at the camera.

Once you return home, you are told to wait in the living room and to close your eyes. You give him a raise of your brows and a cheeky smile only to do as your tole. You’re tempted to peek between the spaces of your fingers but refrain from doing so once you hear his steps approach. You open your eyes once you’re told to and in front of you is a brown box, held carefully and tightly in his arms. He seems so eager, fingertips tapping against the box as he lays it on the floor. He offers you a box knife, and tells you happy birthday before stepping back, allowing you to open it. You stare at him, chuckling when he pulls out his phone, making a comment that if this is some sort of prank you’ll be sure to get him back.

You open the box quickly, your heart racing as your anticipation rises. Once opened, you let out a scream of delight. You look to see Raihan laughing, his grin wide as he nods at you, encouraging you to pull out your gift. You pull out a body pillow-esque Furret. You hold the object close to you, grinning up at him and gesturing for him to put away the camera- he does so quickly. Your arms are tight around him, pulling him close to you as you pepper him with kisses, overfilled with joy and you grab the gift and hold it close to you. You thank him, words slurring together, your excitement barely able to be contained. You’re quick to grab him by the hand and walk to the bed, snuggling the ew gift to you as he holds you from behind, his face pressed against your neck as you coo about how cute the pillow is.

We all know Namjoon loves plants (and tiny crabs lmao). Personally, I find the Grass-types to have the cutest pre-evolved forms and imagining Namjoon surrounded by a bunch of them sounds adorable as fuck. Plus, imagine Namjoon with a Torterra and a Leafeon? :D

You might be wondering, "why the elegant Lurnatis?" Look up its pre-evolution, Fomatis! ISN"T IT SO FREAKING CUTE??? I imagine Namjoon recusing this little one, taking care of it every day, and it hangs around on his broad shoulder as Namjoon rides his bike around town, soaking up sunlight, perhaps witnessing the occasional clumsy accident (oop). Because Namjoon always protects Fomantis, Fomantis evolves into the elegant Lurantis to protect its Trainer! (not me making this a whole ass au already lol)

Kim Seokjin

Type: Water

Signature Pokémon: Milotic

Fishing fanatic Seokjin must be a Water-type trainer. No, there is no SUPERTUNA Pokémon, otherwise you know I would have totally given him one XD He may also have a Gyarados, evolution of Magikarp, as well - lmao, just imagine Seokjin taking care of Feebas and Magikarp ("Gah, stop flopping around!") but he would take care of them lovingly, maybe low-key think they're ugly but he's (worldwide) handsome enough to make up for it LOL and once Feebas evolves into Milotic, Seokjin will definitely enter Pokémon Contests with his beautiful Pokémon! :D

He would have a Lapras because 1) beautiful, 2) cute, 3) practical, and Seokjin is all about that. And he would have a Clawitzer. Why? Look at its pre-evolution, Clauncher.

YOU CANNOT TELL ME SEOKJIN WOULDN'T PICK UP A CLAUNCHER AND PRETEND IT WAS A PHONE LMAO "HELLO?" plus when it turns into a Clawitzer, Seokjin would 100% pretend shoot people with his lobster, only for it to actually blast people in the face with water XD

Type: Fire (bultaoreune, come on, I had to do it lol)

Signature Pokemon: Incineroar

Yes. I went there. At first I was going to give him Dark-type, but FIREEEEEEE (ok, I'll stop now lol) How perfect is Incineroar? Firstly, Litten is a cute af cat, second Torracat is EVEN cuter, and, thirdly, Yoongi enjoys both WWE back in the day and UFC now! If anyone can control an Incineroar in a calm manner, it's definitely Yoongi.

I don't see Yoongi as a typical high-energy Fire-type trainer. He's more reserved, but you can tell by his Pokémon that you don't wanna mess with him (haters, go ahead and talk real big until Yoongi says 'Burn It' XD). He probably uses the more niche Fire-type Pokémon like Chandelure and a (Hisuian) Arcanine. Day to day he seems lazy, but in battle Yoongi gets fired up (just like on stage hahaha)!

Jung Hoseok

Type: Electric

Signature Pokémon: Pachirisu

"... wiyllt... are you trolling me rn?"

XD I chose Pachirisu for multiple reasons: 1) Hoseok is the squirrel emoji + acorn bag enthusiast; 2) he will be a doubles Gym Leader, meaning he and you will send out two Pokémon at a time, requiring a different strategy to all the other Gym Leaders; 3) I mean... look at it; and 4) look up World Champion Pachirisu.

Yes, Pachirisu won the Pokémon World Championships in 2014 and his trainer was from Korea! :D (Did you know Pokémon have a World Championship competition? Now you do LOL) Pachirisu is pretty tanky and offers special moves that make it perfect for double battles.

His other Pokémon would be Heliolisk, Luxray and Toxtricity (Amped Form, Jolly Nature), both of which have cute and unique pre-evolutions (Shinx and Toxel). You better believe they're all dodging moves with dance!

Park Jimin

Type: Fairy

Signature Pokémon: Florges

To be honest, there are so many Fairy Pokemon that suit Jimin: Togekiss, Whimsicott, Hatterene, Gardevoir, Sylveon, etc. If Tumblr didn't limit me to 10 images per post, I would show you all of them, but alas (Tumblr, you rat >:| ). Anyway, pretty-as-a-flower fairy Jimin would have a Florges for sure (probably a white one tbh). Just like him, it would be a total mistake to think the fluffy, beautiful Fairy-types are weak - in fact, they're super-effective vs the fearsome Dragon-types (and Dark and Fighting types)!

Is it because they can seduce anyone with their good looks and their aromatic scent? (and Florges does look a bit sassy too, no? lol) Why do I think Jimin smells good? He probably does. Someone confirm for me. XD

Ah, and since Fairy is strong against Fighting-type... hm, did you know that the only way a certain maknae has ever been beaten is because he was bitten in the neck by a Fairy-type? XD Jimin was born in Busan first!

Kim Taehyung

Type: Rock

Signature Pokémon: Lycanroc

I feel like I need to explain, look at it's pre-evolution, Rockruff

LOOK AT HIM, WHAT A GOOD BOY

Although it was tempting to assign Taehyung to Normal-type so I could give him a bear Pokémon (lol), the sturdy and strong Rock-type seemed to suit him better. Not only that, but also the pre-evolved Rock-type Pokémon are adorable - such as Roggenrola, Aron, Larvitar - but all evolve into tough, cool-looking Pokemon - Gigalith, Aggron, Tyranitar, respectively.

There's also er... unique ones like Sudowoodo and Omastar (praise Lord Helix, if you know, you know). I believe Taehyung would appreciate these funny, weird Pokémon to the fullest. XD

He would pretend to be a tree in Namjoon's gym with Sudowoodo.

Not only does Lucario remind us of Bam (although there is a Doberman Fire/Dark Pokemon, Houndoom, a bit EDGY for Jungkook, but perhaps not for PTD JK lol), but also Lucario only evolves through friendship. It must form a close bond with its Trainer to evolve, which perfectly suits Jungkook. I also imagine JK to have a graceful Gallade, maybe even a Machamp! :D

He definitely has Falinks marching around the Gym, just because they're funny and make him laugh HAHAHAHA

grizzly bears with sun bears as a close second!! grizzly bears are the perfect amount of floofy and huggable and they like salmon as much as i do. sun bears however look so fucked up and i love that about them

Pokemon SwSh GPL AU: Get to know ______

Guys, it’s time for my favourite pokemon ship. Prepare for loads of fluff. 

Get to Know Gloria x Hop (Postwickshipping/Hpyu): 

1: Who spends almost all their money on the other? I headcannon that Gloria really likes pokemon plushies, so Hop is always unconsciously checking the stuffed animal section of stores to see if there’s any she doesn’t have. Gloria tries really hard to get him books that pertain to his research, but she really has no clue what he studies aside from the fact that it’s legendary pokemon (Legendary Pokemon are his focus). 

2: Who sleeps in the other’s lap? Gloria! They are the cuddliest couple ever. There’s about a foot size difference between them, so she fits perfectly in his lap. (Hop is def the little spoon, tho). 

3: Who walks around the house half-naked and who yells at them to put on some clothes? TBH, they would both walk around the house half naked. They’re comfort first babies, so you know Gloria’s bra is coming off and Hop is discarding his work clothes the second their door is closed. I think it’s kind of a casual thing for them, though. They’ve known each other long enough that this kind of thing doesn’t bother them. 

4: Which one tells the other not to stay up all night and which one stays up all night anyway? Gloria has to drag Hop’s ass to bed pretty much every night. They’re both busy people, but we all know that Hop would lose track of time while working on his thesis. It is a fact that if Gloria doesn’t come to get him, he will fall asleep on his desk. 

5: Which one tries to make food for the other but burns it all by accident and which one tells them that it’s okay and makes them both cookies? They’re actually both pretty good cooks (Gloria’s mama owns a restaurant in Wedgehurst and Hop’s mom is obsessed with cooking), but I think Hop would probably be the one to burn all the food. The only reason why is because he has a harder time focusing solely on cooking instead of trying to multitask. Now, baking is a whole other story. They’re both terrible at it. 

6: Which one reads OTP prompts and says “Oh that’s us!” and which one goes “Eh, not really”? Gloria would be the one to read the prompts and Hop would be the denier (he secretly thinks it’s really cute whenever she does it). 

7: Which one constantly wears the other’s clothes? Gloria. 100% Gloria. She is constantly cold and has a passion for stealing Hop’s hoodies. He thinks its adorable because they’re always really big on her. 

8: Which one spends all day running errands and which one says “You remembered [thing], right?” Hop would be the errand runner and Gloria would make sure he remembered everything. It goes back to Hop’s mind being a million places at once and Gloria hyper focusing on one thing at a time. 

9: Which one drives the car and which one gives them directions? Hop would drive and Gloria would give directions for similar reasons to the question above. 

10: Which one does the posing while the other one draws? Hop doodles Gloria sometimes to keep his hands busy. It’s kind of an absent minded thing for him to do while reading an article/book. Once Sonia caught him doing it, and when I say she teases him relentlessly, I mean it. Hop absolutely does not let Gloria see these doodles (they’re very cutesy and he’d die of embarrassment). 

11: If they were about to rob a museum, which one does backflips through lasers and which one is strolling behind with a bag of chips? Hop would be the backflipper and Gloria would be the follower. Think back to their GPL season: Hop was blazing ahead at all times without a care in the world. Gloria is the slowest traveler in the world because she likes talking to everyone and visiting all the stores.  

12: Which one of your OTP overdoes it on the alcohol and which one makes the other stop drinking? Neither of them can hold their alcohol, but Hop at least has more body mass than Gloria. They’re a pair of lightweights and nothing you can say will convince me otherwise. (Let’s be real: Bede has to be the one to make sure they get home). 

14: Which one keeps accidentally using the other’s last name instead of their own? Gloria. I actually believe that Gloria would keep her last name even after she and Hop get married because it belongs to her mama (after the divorce, they both changed their last names to match her mama’s maiden name). Hop is also a proud Hoffman, so he wouldn’t use the name Park. However, everyone else will mix it up. Gloria gets called “Mrs. Hoffman” all the time if she’s arriving for restaurant reservations or something of the like. Newer reporters/young children call Hop “Mr. Park” because they just assume Park was his last name. 

15: Which one screams about the spider and which one brings the spider outside? Neither of them are scared of bug pokemon. 

16: Which one gives the other their jacket? HOP. I mentioned it earlier, but Gloria is always cold. Bede asks why he doesn’t just make Gloria bring her own jacket and Hop replies that he likes it when she wears his jacket (they’re freaking sappy).  

17: Who keeps getting threatened by the other’s overprotective older sibling? Pft. Leon? Please. By this point, he’s become the big brother of Gloria as well. The League members are a completely different story. They all like Hop, but since Gloria is one of their younger members and the biggest sweetheart, they’re a protective bunch (Especially Melony and Gordie). 

18: Who’s the first one to admit they have feelings for the other? Gloria, but it didn’t go well. It was right before he was leaving to finish up high school studying abroad, and the timing wasn’t right (aka Hop turned her down because he hadn’t yet realised his feelings for her). Gloria tries her best to move on but never truly gets over him. Luckily, his feelings hit him like a bag of bricks to the stomach when they reunite a couple years later.  

19: How good would your OTP be at parenting? The best. They would definitely be the cool parents (I mean, come on. They’re the freaking heroes of Galar!). I think they’d also be super supportive of their child’s choices. 10/10. They’re made to be parents. (Hop would especially want to be a good dad. He’s initially nervous because he never knew his dad and thinks he might mess up, but Gloria reassures him that he’s doing a good job). 

20: Which one types with perfect grammar and which one types using numbers as letters? Hop would be Mr. Perfect Grammar. Gloria would use mostly good grammar, but her texts would be littered with emojis. 

21: Who gets attacked by a bully and who protects them? Hop is the more confrontational of the two. Gloria tends to believe that people are only mean to others if something bad is happening in their life, but Hop will jump from 0 to 100 if someone even looks at Gloria funny.  

22: Who makes the bad puns and who makes a pained smile every time the other makes a pun? Gloria likes Hop’s bad puns, so everyone else has to cringe in discomfort at the oblivious pair. 

23: Who comes home from work to see that the other one bought a puppy? Hop. Gloria likes catching pokemon and sending them on poke jobs, so there’s a new member to their family at least once a week. 

24: Which one gives the other a piggyback ride when they’re tired? Hop. He’s the only one she would show vulnerability to, and he makes sure not to make her feel ashamed of it. (also, Gloria absolutely could not carry Hop. He’s like, a foot taller than her).  

25: Which one competes in some sort of activity and which one does the overzealous cheering? Both! They’re very supportive of each other to help ease the other’s insecurities. Hop gets really invested in her pokemon matches and Gloria throws him a little celebration every time he finishes a project.  

26: Who takes a selfie when the other one falls asleep on their shoulder? Gloria. Since Hop never goes to sleep at night, it is very common for him to take 5 minute power naps without even realising it. Gloria definitely takes pictures when it happens as a reflex (They were long distance for the first 4 years of their relationship) because she wants to be able to look back at their memories together.  Like Gloria doesn’t know about Hop’s doodles of her, Hop doesn’t know about her phone album of him. 

27: Which one would give the other a makeover if they asked? Gloria? I think they both grow into their separate styles as the get older, but Gloria would push Hop to wear more colourful things. Sonia once told Hop that a man should never tell a woman what to wear because it’s rude. I don’t think Gloria would mind if he suggested something, but he is way too nervous to do it (Sonia scarred him).   

28: Which one owns a pet that the other is absolutely terrified of? Hop is very nervous around Urshifu and Calyrex. Urshifu because he’s terrifying, large, and very protective of Gloria. Calyrex because the pokemon will take over his body without warning to tell Gloria something.  

29: Which one holds the umbrella over both of them when it rains? Hop! If Gloria held it, Hop’s head would be in the umbrella. 

30: If your OTP went on vacation, where would they go and what would they do? Who would take the pictures? Oh my gosh, they’d go everywhere. I think that after Gloria steps down as champion, they travel to all the different regions for at least a couple of years. Gloria would be the one to take pictures and make a little scrapbook when they return home.
