Hey, no worries! Rant away! It's a very strange enigma for sure, and the fandon does indeed act like a cult! My guess for how Viv keeps getting away with all this stuff is that she has a parasocial relationship with her fanbase. The idea of landing a job or getting close with a creator with such a large following overrides any sense of reason or care for her actions, so people keep gassing her up because it could likely lead her to like or comment on their stuff. There's also the pseudo kind act she puts on, so people think she's the sweetest person ever when she has showcased the opposite. There's also a loooot of fandom bullying. Lots of the big dogs in the fandom bully people into silence or make em think they're in the wrong.

There's a WHOLE lot of control going on here, and thanks to her ass kissers logic is thrown out the window. Finally, there were the overblown posts highlighting things that, while weird or gross, aren't "cancelable" enough or downright exaggerations of the truth or lies. These threads on Twitter, especially back in 2019, did more harm than good and led many into believing there was a mob that simply wanted to cancel her for being popular. The threads consisted of her old cringe art (some are very questionable don't get me wrong) rather than the ones where she encouraged fandom bullying and made fun of a 15 year old fan for simply being critical of her work and called them nasty for it. No one did any research on her behavior or how she was an absolute bully to people like Starvader. Callouts need to consist of hard evidence so stuff like this doesn't happen, where your callout does more harm than good.

These factors led to many straight up turning off their brains and blatantly ignoring hard evidence. It's very, very stupid.

Also, who is the other person you mentioned? The only one that comes to mind is the guy who plays League of Legends and is famous for winning many championships.

I really don't like when Black users are kind enough to like have to educate those of us who are non black about AAVE and the constant misuse and eventual bastardization of it on the internet and someone has to bust in like "Ok, but where's the literature on this? Where the documentation of this?". You look so fucking stupid and ugly.

Like clearly you cannot grasp that in many cultural contexts, people are not going to fucking write down everything or document it, especially for your convenience. Entire cultures rely heavily on oral tradition, on oral inheritance of their specific vernacular, does that make it less legitimate and believable to you? Ask yourself why you think, like millions of people within a culture reiterating and sharing their lived experience with their own branch of language, is not enough for you. Like why would an ENTIRE community of people fucking lie about that shit?

Not to mention, the study and legitimacy to do so on an academic level (which I mention cause many people act is the only shit that matters) of the Black American experience is relatively young in comparison to the goddamn spotlight that's put on White European history on SO many levels, especially linguistics. Academia has as much a history of erasure, neglect, and blatant racism when it comes to treating the history of Black America seriously and with respect, as the rest of society.

And let's be honest here, it's all owed to Black academics themselves for making sure their own history, culture, linguistics, etc aren't erased and are continually preserved it in the face of persistent antiblackness even within the realm of academia. So imagine how young the study of Black linguistics is? Most studies on it that I can find date only as far as the 70s. We as a society have had CENTURIES to study every damn European language to such a WIIIDE extent in comparison to AAVE, so imagine how much work still needs to be done to document it.

Not mention the obvious regional variety within AAVE that would complicate the validity that you're seeking for for a term you dont want to believe is Black in its origin. Because, if one group of people within the group denies its use because their region doesnt use it, people like you will ABSOLUTELY use that difference as an excuse to deny and invalidate the voices of it's very originators in its specific region.

So truly, why is it so hard for you to think about this and trust Black people at knowing their own language and the cultural context for the terminology in that language???? I mean the answer is obvious....

shauna does at least start out trying to hide her dark side from herself as well as everyone else, but eventually in the wilderness i think she sort of gives up, in that she starts allowing herself to act on it more often. i think she also used to act on it sort of unwittingly/instinctively, like fucking jeff was definitely shauna's dark side, but i don't think she was really conscious of it. but she's feeling liberated enough in the wilderness to admit it exists now, like when lottie talks to her about eating jackie and she says "but i wanted it too." but shauna is strange, i think she is capable of simultaneously repressing and acting on her dark side but without either of those things making the other one impossible. know what i mean? kinda doublethink-y. but i agree, misty is more willing to embrace it from day 1 (chopping off ben's leg - although that could be justified as survival so maybe instead lets say that moment where she trips him as he's trying to hop along) and doesn't seem to make any attempts to lie to herself about having this dark side - she seems just fine with it! i actually sort of wonder if she would even consider it a "dark" side? like she seems not to have many qualms about it lol.

as for your second point, i'm going to play devil's advocate and say i'm not so sure it's really "love", per se, that misty wants. i think she wants acceptance and companionship but i'm not sure if she's preoccupied with "love" in the same way that jackie is. jackie wants, like, devotion. I don't think misty really cares about that, she just wants to feel like she's a part of the group and people need her. which is also valid lol and i think jackie also wants those things but i do feel like that is a difference between them. and i think although they are both quite desperate for the thing they want, whether it's acceptance or love or some combination, misty is much more blatant and gutsy in the things she does to try to get that. but even though jackie isn't munchausen-ing people on a daily basis, i dont think shes really hiding that she wants love, or if she does, she's doing a kinda crappy job of it lol.
