And Everard's dad (to me at least) seems like he's implied to have been worshipping Azathoth and he also explicitly had a want to witness the gods..

There's still things that contradict because the Order (in new York specifically) is implied to be elitist but I feel like there's not much about fake Edwards character that implies he's from a necessarily deathly family other the fact he seems very well educated and you could argue he had enough money to like sustain himself for a full year while impersonating someone else? But I guess I feel like his disappearance would be more noticed? Also like, idk I'm getting ex cultist vibe or that he's a follower that distanced himself from the cult but kept their ideals.
