BG3 Gaming Headcanons (Modern AU)

Karlach: Plays either really cute wholesome games or action-packed ultraviolent games, no in-between. Had a field day that one year Doom and Animal Crossing released simultaneously.

Lae'zel: Not much of a gamer, but will indulge in the occasional edgy FPS or battle-royale type games. Refuses to shell out for a fancy PC setup. Puts the game away when she thinks she's taking it too seriously, claims she has "better things to do" but really is just salty abt losing :P

Shadowheart: Loves the more story-driven games, or ones with a snarky sense of humor. Visual novels are her jam. Also kinda into horror, but picky about it. Prefers ones with subtle suspense and plot twists rather than just mindless gore and jumpscares. Her favorite FNAF was the first one

Gale: Likes anything with strategy, like Fire Emblem, or basically any tower defense game. Has a ton of chess simulators, Solitaire, and the like installed on his phone. The type to pay $40 for a set of classic clubhouse games on the Switch or whatever

Astarion: Also not much of a gamer, probably the most casual of the bunch. Plays those gory Flash browser-based games for fun. Dating sims and dressups/picrews are his guilty pleasures; he'll spend way too much time judging every bachelor(ette) or making sure that paper doll looks just right.

Wyll: The biggest weeb. Loves a good old-fashioned JRPG, complex job systems, quirky animal sidekicks, the works. Genuinely invested in every moment of Kingdom Hearts.

Halsin: Unsurprisingly not a gamer. May pick up a cozy game like Minecraft or Stardew if you ask verrrrry nicely. Don't expect him to actually accomplish anything, he'll just enjoy the virtual scenery for 20 minutes, then give you a lil headpat on his way out-- back to real nature.

Minthara: Lae'zel x1000. Picks a game and whales it, has to have the best equipment -- in game and irl -- extremely competitive. Calls someone a slur whenever they beat her. Becomes a controversial livestreamer.

Candy Necklace (Lana Del Rey, ft Jon Batiste) song analysation

What is the metaphor for "Candy Necklace"?

A candy necklace is a temporary treat, meant to be enjoyed for a moment, then discarded. In the same way, the relationship that the song is about is described as exciting and alluring at the moment, but lacks substance and longevity.

In the second verse of the song, Lana sings: ''Thought that we were cool, and we were kickin' it like Tribe Called Quest, You are the best, but, baby, you've been bringin' me down, I can see it now''

This suggests a certain level of self-awareness about the relationship's lack of depth, mentioning how she enjoyed herself at first, but is seeing it through now, realizing how her lover is actually "wearing her down."  (maybe talk of love bombing? Nothing but a string left when the candy has been eaten or discarded.)

A totally different interpretation could be the use of pills - and by that “candy” means pills.

The song opens with a mention of cinnamon; "White fire, cinnamon on my teeth" she sings. This is important, because Lana has previously used this metaphor in a song title for her album called "Norman Fucking Rockwell." The cinnamon she talks about might actually be a reference to the song "Cinnamon Girl", in which she sings about trying to keep a relationship alive, even though her lover has an addiction to pills and isn't able to return her love.

​In addition to that theory, a little while ago Lana came out with a pill holder - it is made to be put on a chain and work as a necklace, hence “candy necklace.”

Also, on her album "Ultraviolence" she mentions the use of pills. In the song "Cruel World" she refers to "her candy" and "his heroin" and in "Is This Happiness" she talks about "taking violet pills."

Judging from these things, it's safe to say Lana has abused pills before, and that "Candy Necklace" could be more literal than you'd first expect.
