This isn't a Buddie established relationship ask so feel free to ignore this but I'm curious...what do you see Buck and Tommy eventually breaking up over? Or what would you want them to break up over?
anon do you want to get me killed
no, i'm totally kidding, this is an interesting question! and im sure everyone is going to be completely normal about me answering it right guys
(under a cut for length)
I think if I'm being super honest, my #1 choice would be Eddie. Both for Buddie reasons and for established narrative reasons--Eddie has been haunting the narrative of BuckTommy, so to speak, since the beginning and it makes a lot of sense to me that it would come back around to him in the end. In 7x04, Tommy says it was "never his intention" to come between Eddie and Buck. He also says Buck "isn't the only one" who can get jealous. In 7x05, Eddie says "this doesn't change a thing between us." Maddie in 7x05 also says that line about "if there's something you need to tell Eddie, you will in your own time."
Right now these are just lines that mean what they mean at face value BUT they are also ripe with potential to be foreshadowing for an eventual break-up/Buddie feelings realization arc. I do think the Bi Buck arc/Tommy arc in general is an excellent catalyst for Buddie feelings realization because. well. it DOES change the equation in a fundamental way. And it's like. slow burn romance 101 to have one character pining over the other while they're in a relationship, so. the stage has been set.
But what form that takes exactly, idk. If I'm the one in charge, I think I'd want Eddie feelings realization -> pining while Buck is with Tommy -> separate Buck feelings realization -> break up with Tommy -> mutual pining for a while -> eventual Buck confession -> they get together. With like some more messy fun things thrown into the mix idk.
I'm less enthused but still intrigued by a Tommy realizes BEFORE Buck arc leading to a break up. I think it makes sense as an echo of Buck's bi realization--Tommy was the catalyst there and it wasn't until he kissed Buck that Buck came to terms with his feeling so I do like the narrative parallels there.
But from a character perspective I think I just really want Buck to get there on his own because one of his prevailing character flaws is that he just kinda...does not know what he's doing or what's happening in his brain ever. He says to Connor and Kameron in season 6 that he "doesn't know what he wants." and in 7x05 he says to Tommy he "doesn't know what he's ready for." And Maddie says in 7x05 that Buck "isn't sure of his own feelings yet." So. I'd like to see a growth where he IS sure of his feelings, where he DOES know what he wants and what he's ready for, and is able to take the initiative and be the one to break things off with Tommy (learning from his mistakes with Taylor/Lucy).
If it's not Eddie (or perhaps Eddie is just PART of the equation) then I think it could go a couple different routes. Route 1 would be a fundamental incompatibility, something like...idk. Tommy not really taking Buck seriously as a partner. This would kind of harken back to their first date (and also to Buck's relationship with Abby) and Tommy cutting out because he thinks Buck "isn't ready."
Or maybe they break up because they don't want the same things in life. I've said it before with other Buck relationships on the show but I would actually love to see an amicable break up because Buck wants kids and his partner doesn't. As Buck gets older, I REALLY would love for the show to really delve into his desire for family/kids, and this particular storyline I don't think I've ever seen portrayed. And it's a very normal reason for a couple to break up!
Or maybe Tommy has to move away for a Cool Helicopter Job and Buck contemplates moving with him. Maybe he even decides he will. But then something Happens and at the last minute he realizes he can't leave his family and that his home is in LA and he has to let Tommy go. This would give me a lot of found family feelings so 🥺
Or maybe they end up together and there's no break up arc. Anything could happen tbh.

nick's media after cole's season ending injury announcement — january 21, 2023
transcript:
Probably not a big surprise for you all guys here, but for us and the fans it is a shock. What did you know about Cole's situation?
Obviously knew quite a bit. It's been kind of an ongoing injury that he's been battling through trying to play and just decided that it was best to shut him down and get him ready for next year. Obviously it's tough for Cole, feel for him, he wants to be here and play. He's a bit upset, but I think it'll be best for his future and the next year for sure.
Why is it today that his season is over, why not a few days ago?
It's been in the works. I know he's been talking with Kent [Hughes] and his agent, stuff like that. It's been an ongoing discussion, when to do it, when not to do it. It was decided, I think, yesterday or this morning.
How do you view your own end of season not having Cole by your side?
Everyone's just gotta keep going. Obviously he's an important player for us and a big piece in the locker room and on the ice. Everyone's gonna have to step up and try to add some of Cole's enthusiasm and energy and what he brings to the rink every day. Try to do business as usual, also try to keep Cole's spirits high. He's got a bright future ahead of him and just a bump in the road for him right now.
Nick, in your time you've seen tough injuries to players like Price and Weber, where they played and admitted afterwards that playing was not necessarily the best thing for their future, whatever it is. Do you guys have to consider that more as players now when you have an injury, to kind of listen to the voice in your head that's saying maybe it's not the best thing to be playing through this?
Yeah, I think hockey players are known for playing through injuries, we're pretty tough when it comes to playing the game banged up. Cole's been dealing with it for a while now so he's been playing through it and showing how tough he is. I think definitely at some point, focusing on his future, he's so young. Carey and Webby were probably in a bit different situation, but for Cole he's got many years ahead of him. So I think better to take care of it now.
How would you handle that, if you suffered an injury that you think you could play though, but that could be something that requires surgery? Would you have what it takes to pull yourself in that situation?
Yeah, it's a tough call. I was talking to Cole already about it, he wants to be here, he wants to play. It's just, there's a bigger picture from a lot of different sides that are pulling him in a different direction. Obviously, everybody wants to be able to play and compete with their guys. Just, tough situation for everybody, losing Cole for the season.
Especially for the type of player he is, his shot is his bread and butter, his hands are his bread and butter too. Was it more important because of that, to have him at 100% because of what kind of player he is?
Obviously his shoulders are pretty important. For him to come back next year and be fully healthy, I know a few of my friends have done the surgery and it's a bit of a process to go through recovery, so just doing it now will give him a lot more time and don't have to rush it near the end of the season to try to get ready for the next season.
Are you conflicted between being a supportive, good friend, the captain, and losing your main right winger?
It's definitely a tough question, but you know, I wanna take— everything that I've given to Cole for advice is just as a friend. I think honestly this will probably be the best decision for him and his future and our future as a team.
I feel like everyone knows the kind of position we're in right now, with all these guys out, low in the standings, it's kinda almost like last year we had a bunch of fluke injuries. It's just important for our future and the team's success in the future, to have Cole ready to go for next year.
Nick, you've been saying it's going to be business as usual, it might be a cliche but is he the type of player that you simply cannot replace?
Yeah, I mean there's not many guys like Cole in the league. His energy that he brings every morning his love of the game kind of rubs off on everybody in the room. Just us, to lose a guy like that, it's tough for me and the guys, but I know he'll want us to keep going out there and competing every night and try to win as many games as we can.

Hello! A while ago you were selling some beautiful tapestries. Will there be more of those? Or is there another way to get some of your gorgeous art on my walls?
Greetings! Thank you, I'm happy to hear you like my work! Yes there will be definitely more tapestries as well as fine art paper prints avialable soon (new motives as well)! The werewolf designs in particular will most likely become available again sometime around Halloween this year! Other than that, I currently don't have any prints available at the moment unfortunately. But a new print store will come soon!

IMAGINE A MASQUERADE BALL WITH XIAO???
…see, you’ve done the very dangerous thing of reminding me of the 100 followers special continuation i was planning that includes xiao and heizou… and a little of my cinderella au with him, too.
but i need to brainrot about this now.
thing is… we could go down the usual route of fantasy masquerade ball with big fancy chandeliers and a nice ballroom, but i feel like a spin could be put on it to make it more interesting.
namely, cyberpunk; a setting that i think fits xiao very well. (let me generate some ideas for a second…)
maybe this masquerade ball is inspired by old fragments of books and paintings uncovered in the wreckage of historical buildings, and a group of people are trying to resurrect it, just for fun. it’s likely nowhere as grande as the ‘proper’ ones, and takes place in some abandoned warehouse or the basement of a pub. the music is an electronic, bass-y version of some classical pieces, performed by a mini-orchestra of electric classical instruments. there are some asymmetrical make-shift chandeliers welded from old bits of metal hanging from the ceiling, sporting some LED light bulbs.
people come wearing all sorts of clothing; most try to imitate the gowns and suits worn in the old days but with a spin of cyberpunk, with metal masks and hand gauntlets, while a few wear visors and their typical fashion.
xiao’s mask is no doubt based on his yaksha mask, put together with metal and cogs and some pieces of wood, and there are neon blue lights around the eye sockets, which mirror his original mask’s glowing eyes. the fangs are made of steel and bronze.
the atmosphere is lively, although the location is quite dark. as they dance, people try to guess who the person behind the mask is. xiao prefers not to know.
xiao is a really, really good dancer. he meets you in one of the dances, and you’re floored by his dancing. his movements are fluid and graceful, almost like water, and each step and twirl is precise, like he’s been doing this all his life. he’s actually quite courteous while dancing, too; he’s a guy who prefers actions over words, so it’s no wonder that he lets his dancing speak for itself. he finds it so much easier to carefully spin you around than start a conversation, in which he’s certain he would come across as brash.
meanwhile, you try your very best to figure out who this person is, and whether you’ve met him before, but his identity eludes you. you only spend a brief time together before the music changes and you’re both met with new partners, but somehow he still stands out to you the most.
after the dance, the crowds disperse, and you try and look for him, absentmindedly taking off your mask because the dance is over. for a moment, you catch a glimpse of glowing blue in the crowd, meeting your eyes from behind a familiar metal mask. when you blink, he’s gone, and you don’t find him again afterwards.
(meanwhile, xiao probably just ducked behind some wall or pillar because he was not prepared for you to be so stunning behind that mask and needed a second to gather his thoughts.)

On the plus side though, the AoC timeline Tears of the Kingdom would have;
Mipha with 150 years of battle experience
Purah and Robbie experimenting with sheikah tech without fear of death for the past 100 years
No Yiga Clan / Non antagonistic Yiga Clan
The powerhouse that is Battle-Tested Guardian
Terrako, who has the ability to time travel
You had me until the last point. There is no world where Terrako is a plus. Actual eggs have more use to the timeline than him.

To clarify, *I* am not shipping bucktommy lol, but those people are definitely out there! And just anecdotally, a non-insignificant portion appear to be new viewers who started watching after Buck kissed a man and now are vocally anti-Buddie (which I do NOT understand). I just wonder if a viewing of the whole series would change things for some of them…
no i know i was just making a joke!!!
i do think if you're virulently anti a ship then you will look for reasons NOT to ship them. even if that means completely divorcing yourself from the actual text of the show.
but also i am the type of person who can only ship a ship when they are absolutely insane deranged devoted to each other in life and death and would tear apart the world and themselves for the other person so. i think we are just fundamentally Different.

re: your tags on the jason’s anger post~
hard agree!! i will read reconciliation fics bc like… i do enjoy them getting to be a happy family/group but ultimately, i am firmly in the Jason Todd Was Right camp, &. serious work would need to be done for him to ever actually be part of the family again, bc the actual roots of his issues run DEEP. (and again! he has points!!)
and also same again on like… if i mention the batfamily dynamics in my fics, with the exception of au’s, jason’s relationship with bruce especially is still at least a little strained. he’s a member but also kind of an outsider and maybe he has complicated feelings on that sometimes but ultimately it’s bc his convictions / beliefs run deeper than his need /want of acceptance / belonging.
anyway sorry to dump a rant in your inbox but, i loved your tags & wanted to reply 💞
OUUGHH YES THO!! THANK YOU FOR RANTING, ALWAYS RANT IN MY INBOX STAY IN THIS SPACE WITH ME <333
(I'm about to have a mini-rant of my own, and disclaimer, it's largely informed by my terrible foundation of the UTRH movie + fandom osmosis + the occasional page/panel drop/arguments from other fans skdndndj sO GRAIN OF SALT THE SIZE OF RHODE ISLAND: )
Because yes yes absolutely! It would take serious work on Both sides for Jason to be brought back into the fold. They would both need to want it, and someone would have to be willing to bend on what they are ok with letting slide. Bruce would have to allow Jason his independence and divergence in philosophy; Jason would have to make concessions to Bruce's hard anti-murder stance.
There would have to be compromise, and reparations of some kind. They would have to actually talk and be able to listen. Apologies exchanged (mostly from Bruce because lmao) and a bunch of stuff people with the whole picture could probably tell me better lmao. ALL HARD ASKS
Because yes yes yes!! Jason's convictions and his beliefs ABSOLUTELY run deeper than his desire for acceptance. That's not-so-low-key the biggest obstacle for both him and Bruce in their ever reconciling. It's why Talia was able to manipulate him at all (idk the specifics of that, but details), it's why he hatched a deeply convoluted plan to get back at Bruce and the Joker and fuck over Black Mask in one fell swoop.
He wanted to confront Bruce with the consequences of letting Joker run around even after committing a deeply heinous and personal crime. Show him that taking a more intense and hands on approach and cracking down HARD on the crime families in Gotham would have more immediate results than what Bruce did. And that's not even getting into the Robin stuff yet lol
I don't personally agree per se with Jason's stance on murder and crime fighting lmao - but I also think he has a goddamn point, especially in this universe. In the world of batman, where death can be impermanent and supervillains pull all kinds of heinous, torturous bullshit, Jason has a lot of righteous and justified anger about how Bruce does things, on top of his hurt and betrayal over how both he and his death were treated.
Bruce's stance makes sense to me too, in a 'everyone deserves a second chance' and 'no one is beyond redemption' and 'its a slippery slope' perspective. But at some point you have to wonder about accountability. About what's acceptable. When the Joker is an unrepentant, murderous, sadistic criminal who has demonstrated that he cannot be adequately jailed or rehabilitated, what do you do? Do you ever give up on him? When is enough enough? Is the death penalty ever justifiable?
It's what makes Jason vs Bruce's arguments interesting and tragic to me, because from Jason's perspective, he is seeking retribution for himself as a victim. He is an avenger for victims failed by the system as it stands. And the system fails a lot of people. It needs to change. (And it's something being felt very strongly by a lot of people rn IRL which makes Jason's ideals v sympathetic.)
But from Bruce's perspective, Jason has given up. He has lost hope in the inherent goodness of people. He no longer seeks to find the good in people; he has decided that there exists instead a sharp dichotomy, that there is such thing as a bad person who deserves to die for what they've done, and for being bad. As opposed to seeing deeply injured people who need help, even when you find them repulsive. Rotten work, that.
Bruce sees the end of the path that Jason is on, and it's a bullet that Jason puts in his own brain - because if there are good people and bad people, and bad people deserve to die... won't Jason lump himself in with the bad people eventually? (I am once again standing on my 'Jason Todd wants to die on some level' soapbox)
Anyway, all this to say - there is a sharp divide in Bruce and Jason's methods/beliefs that makes their reconciliation impossible if neither of them is willing to budge. And when they both see budging as a terrible thing to do, a failure to the very people they are dedicating their lives to protecting...well.
It's gonna take a lot of angst and a lot of work.

How did Kore handle running a cult, in the beginning?
They weren’t really that good at it 😅
Running a cult requires a lot of practice, and Kore had to transition from “on the run” to “stationary.” Their first follower, a cat named Jasper, helped them a lot, though!
Kore couldn’t read or write. Spending your entire life on the run doesn’t leave much time for education. So they entirely relied on Jasper to help them with scriptures and documentation.
It also took a long time to unlearn the habit of backstabbing anyone who tried to help them. They were not a good person before, and even though it was for survival, they did a lot of cruel things. Jasper and the other first few followers were very patient, though, as they had memories of the Slaughter. They understood Kore far better than the later generations.
They stuck with Kore for the most part, through famine, plague, and sleeping on the dirt. Having your lives saved by a god’s chosen will do that. There were dissenters, though, so not everyone was understanding…

"Well that hurt" prompts | Accepting!
62, Hand impaled (by object of choice)
He's missing key components and short on time and unfortunately for him that means blood magic.
"You know," Clemcy says, annoyed but conversational as he crouches near the body and delicately slips his scalpel case from its inner pocket, "if you were... even a touch less stubborn. Or if literally anyone else were making any fraction of the progress you've been making. Or if the Spire," and here his ire is, briefly, directed elsewhere, a thin-lipped glance towards the open panel nearby, "were at least somewhat less jealous of her possessions... I wouldn't have to do this. Or I could at least do it the comfortable way."
He finishes the last efficient cut of the runes drawn down the length of Steph's forearm and palm, and prods her heart into a lifeless beat to get the blood flowing. "But no! You must, as ever, be difficult."
Clemcy draws a single line with the scalpel from the crook of his own forearm all the way down to the tip of his middle finger in a tracery of cold-bright pain; no runes, and not deep enough to be dangerous, but symbolic nonetheless. The blood of his stolen alien body wells bright and disconcertingly purple against dark skin.
Then he clasps Steph's bloody hand.
The return of a beating heart had strummed a faint semblance of order back into the torn and rapidly unraveling connection between Steph's soul and body. His grip pulls those shaken strands back to a place that Clemcy can reach.
Working by feel and intuition he feeds the strands into their palms, mingling with their lifebloods and twisting gently until soulstrands and blood and magic form into a thread. Stronger than any one component alone; strong enough to call back a soul that would otherwise be too far gone, pulled by the Spire's magic somewhere beyond his reach. Soon, he has enough of a leader to release Steph's hand. For lack of better options he co-opts the scalpel as a drop spindle, telekinesis and simple will substituting for the inertia of a properly designed tool.
Time passes. The thread lengthens.
But it's unruly, jumping and sparking with energy, refusing to be grasped or shaped further. Clemcy grimaces and captures the scalpel between two fingers; considers his options. He doesn't have time for much other than brute force.
"Difficult," he mutters again, and forces the scalpel through his own palm with a sharp growl of pain.
The blade is manageable. Drawing the shaft the rest of the way through leaves him panting and shaking, agony crawling its way all the way up to his shoulder, hot saliva collecting in his mouth.
Clemcy gags; spits. Gathers himself. He has a docile string threading out of the back of his hand and a handful of crackling, spitting Spire magic stripped off and collected in his mangled palm. He grounds it unceremoniously into the floor and continues his work.
Pain and magical exertion are a hell of a drug. He loses track of time as he weaves Steph a new soul cradle, coaxing her back into her proper place even as he reshapes her inner world to view him as part of its firmament. By the end of it, Clemcy barely has the strength to repair the damage to her actual body; he has forced the work of what would normally be three sequential spells with the full support of ritual into one rushed, bloody field dressing.
But he does it. Clemcy waits long enough to confirm that her breathing and heart rate are steady; for her eye to slit open and, slowly, focus on him. The kindling light of cognition and recognition in her eye match the feeling of her repaired soul and awakening mind blooming into being within his more preternatural senses.
Clemcy grins wide enough to split dry lips, triumphant. Then he gives in to gravity and sprawls out beside the technomancer on the floor. She's no danger to him now, after all. He cradles his pierced hand to his chest and ignores the hot spread of blood as it seeps into his shirt. He'll... deal with that later.
"Look, Steph," he rasps. "I'm asking you this as a friend." Newly minted. "Please don't work alone again."
