How was Mori fed or was able to sleep during his kidnapping?

Ooo this is something I like looking into

Mainly because the body has limits, very strict limits that Mori was pushing at the time. I really like seeing what the body can handle at times, so I finally get to yap :33

So, Roland wanted to see what Mori could physically handle and he wanted to tread dangerously along that line

I've brought some research with me for examples and such hsgdh

Food ↓

Because Mori was in good health at the beginning, he went weeks to nearly months without food since he was being given adequate amounts of water. (Most of which was given during his waterboardings...)

But once he started getting thin and sickly, Roland would feed him the bare minimum to keep him alive. He'd go maybe a couple weeks and then be fed scraps of what Roland decided he deserved.

Eventually it got to the point he could barely go a week without eating otherwise his body would've shut down. (Close to the time he escaped)

Overtime he began to show some of these symptoms.

His starvation mainly showed itself through the less serious of symptoms. Faintness, dizziness, dehydration, etc.

Overall, he was given the bare minimum to survive. Even when he was fed, the servings were sad scraps of nutrients that were given very begrudgingly. Often, foods were chosen based on what Mori didn't like. Foods that used to make him gag even looking at them. Just so that Roland could watch him struggle to get everything down, because Mori knew that if he didn't, he was practically knocking on death's door.

Now, Sleep on the other hand was a bit looser.

Roland pushed whatever he could, what Mori ate, how long he went without food, without sleep, etc. Roland controlled everything.

He mainly did this because all Mori deeply desired in the past, was control. He would throw fits of anger when he couldn't have control of absolutely everything in his life. And Roland wanted to strip that of him.

To get back on track, The longest Mori went without sleep just to test the limits of what his body could handle, was 9 consecutive days.

After that, Roland knew that they had to keep it at 9 days or under without sleep.

Sleep, or the lack thereof, was a BIG part of Mori's time in containment. He was barely given any time to sleep, and if he did sleep, it was the bare minimum and Roland aimed to wake him up whenever he could.

If he fell asleep when he wasn't supposed to, he was given punishments (that I won't detail too much right now to avoid making any readers uncomfortable hsgdh)

They could range from physical retaliation from Roland while he was chained up, to waterboarding, to even lashes from Roland or his crew. They didn't hold back because they wanted Mori to be obedient and to fear them.

Now, I say sleep was important in his lore mainly for this reason ↑

"Hallucinations"

His lack of sleep caused his once-only auditory hallucinations, to develop into visual ones as well.

Visions tormented him and affected his view of what was real and fake. He questioned his reality and couldn't tell the difference between when he was asleep or awake.

He doesn't get many visual hallucinations anymore, but it still affects him and makes him worry that nothing around him is real. Including everything around him and the happiness he feels in shadow company, it makes him worry that maybe he's dreaming up Pixel and that he's still stuck back in that horrid place with Roland. Hallucinating.

During his time there, he suffered with pretty much all of these. Some more severely than others.

Hi! Wanted to ask, is there any particular breed of cat in your shelter that tends to be adopted quickly? Are there cats that seem to be more difficult to adopt out?

Yeah, sphynxes tend to be adopted out super quick. I'm surprised we still have Peach and Finn--- I knew we'd have them for a while because we were treating Finn's FIP, but I didn't expect to STILL have them. We usually have a list of people looking for sphynxes, but all of the people on the list are only looking for ONE cat, not two.

So bonded pairs are more difficult to adopt out, unless they are tiny baby kittens.

tbh, a lot of pedigreed cats get adopted out relatively quickly due to the whole 'we have a list of people looking for this exact breed' thing. Like I've already got people asking about Persephone just because they want a bengal and don't mind working with her severe fears. I'm not complaining about that, exactly. Some part of me feels some kind of way about that but I try not to let it bother me too much.

Domestic shorthairs are the hardest to adopt out (medium haired cats are the most popular of the non-pedigreed cats; longhaired cats are slightly less popular but still pretty desirable). People are well aware that they can get a moggie anywhere. I can swear up and down that my moggies are special (because they are), but so is every cat. Can't really argue with that.

Cats that are a bit 'generic' don't get adopted as quickly. Short haired tabbies and solid blacks are the slowest to get adopted. People want something that looks more 'interesting'. I teach my 'less desirable' cats little tricks to make them more adoptable and it tends to work.

Cats with visible, but not super work intensive, disabilities get adopted pretty quickly. Cats with one eye or three legs are fairly popular. People always think 'ohh no one will want this one', but they're wrong. Everyone loves a nice disabled kitty, so a short-haired tabby with three legs or one eye will be adopted pretty quick.

Fully blind or deaf cats are less popular, but there's generally still a list of people looking for that. Blindness is more 'adoptable' than deafness.

Cats with invisible disabilities or medical needs are the slowest of all to be adopted. Like diabetes or something similar. If a cat has an ongoing medical need that could be expensive, that cat is going to be with us for a while.
