@kerothi answered here:
Jean's response turned the frown on his lips into a rather mischievous grin, widening as Vito bent towards him, his eyes glinting with mirth and jocularity.
ā€œHey, Jean, don't take this the wrong way, please,ā€ Vito began, nodding at the seat.
"Hilda has been spending the whole day in this seat, working on important things. Lookā€¦ā€ the brunet replied, pointing a finger at a piece of paper with lettering in a language that ascribed to the three siblings sprawled on the hardwood table's surface.
ā€œShe didn't mean to be discourteous when she would have asked you to move. Didn't you, Hilda? You like Jean so much, you don't intend him to be aghast at you! You're too nice for this world!ā€ he called over to his sister, who was waiting in the doorway, observing the gathering crowd.
Hilda's ordinarily placid and indifferent gaze dilated in horror and her hand darted up to cover her face as she was visibly bewildered by Vito's blunt proclamation. Vito laughed uproariously instead and once again focused his attention on Jean.
ā€œShe's got all her paraphernalia there,ā€ Vito continued with a casual wave.
"I'm sure you didn't deliberately overlook it. We don't want to get in her way, do we?"
Hilda, still partially concealed behind her hand, gave Jean an apologetic stare, manifestly dismayed at the limelight and the very flagrant effort by Vito to 'explicate' her request she was too apprehensive for.
Vito flashed Jean a discreet smile, hoping that his declaration would make it easier for Jean to move without him taking an issue with it.

[ bumblebee ] where have you always wanted to travel to?
i'm kind of a homebody when it comes to things like traveling. i'm always so scared of going some place where i don't speak the language, and the act of traveling itself scares me a lot. i can't really imagine going anywhere far away. right now, i'm planning a trip to visit my family back in my hometown, which is a good 750 miles away from here. does that count for anything?

legit so annoyed about the way the corporate media wants to paint those women waiting outside the court as crazy and as only being there because Luigi is hot. I looked up pictures of them outside the court and they all held signs and were there to send a message: "health over wealth", "denial of medical care = violence", "murder for profit = terrorism", "the United States healthcare stole my livelihood", "insurance lobbyists line politicians' pockets", "healthcare reform NOW". Yeah, they're there because he's hot for sure. Also, there were a lot of men as well but hey, that's not helping the narrative right?

when will we talk about the willful helplessness epidemic on here. So many people on this god forsaken website demand to have any and all things that exist outside their personal experiences directly, personally pre-chewed and spoonfed to them. And when you do, they'll then ask for you to swallow for them, too, because, you see, in THEIR experience..,

this post is fearmongering. the results of this study are concerning and should definitely be a matter of public discussion, but this is certainly not the conclusion the researchers came to.
the point of the study was to assess the risks of exposure to toxic metals- something one of the co-authors notes are ā€œubiquitousā€ fwiw- via menstrual products. Their research confirmed that these metals are indeed present in tampons, but no further conclusions are drawn. it is possible the metal entered into the cotton from the soil, which is a well-known phenomenon; cotton is so good at lifting heavy metals that it has actually been suggested as a part of the solution for revitalizing polluted ground.
the authors conclude with an acknowledgement that the study should be repeated- their sample size was 60 tampons- and a suggestion that further testing ought to be done to indicate whether or not these metals can even leech out of the tampon in the first place, let alone whether or not such leeching could occur at levels deleterious to human health.
there is, in fact, a body of research- too small, for sure, but much larger than this single study- indicating that long-term proper tampon use has no observable negative impact on health. i am grateful and thrilled that more research is being done and i hope that this study is the first of many on this line of questioning, but i am really frustrated at this post and the response it got.
obviously, if this study alters your approach to menstrual health, more power to you. consumers should be informed-risk-takers, and menstrual health is double-obviously a very personal choice. but it definitely wasn't the researchers concluding that you ought to ā€œavoid using tampons at all cost," only this tumblr user did. the lead author of the paper, in fact, specifically says that she hopes people do NOT panic about the results.
(the notes of the post were disappointing. people affirming that they knew they were right to be suspicious of tampons all along, or even recommending alternatives that actually have very little to no research regarding the safety of long-term use, etc. itā€™s a different conversation, but categorical distrust of tampons is old-school misogyny. you certainly shouldn't wear them if you donā€™t want to, but there is nothing inherently scary or wrong about them, and people who prefer them are not being reckless or crass.)
((if you're really worried about exposure to heavy metals, you may want to turn a critical eye to fast fashion, as an aside))

So there's the idea of "kitchen table poly," AKA "everyone in the polycule needs to be able to sit at a kitchen table together and get along like friends."
One of my roommates just came up with a counter idea, which is "poker table poly." Everyone in the polycule must be enemies. No one is allowed to get too chummy or they're kicked out. They all also likely owe eachother money.

hey transfems, i don't know which of you need to hear this but it's okay to never use your penis during sex if you don't want to. it's okay to tell your partner not to touch it, to ignore it even, and hold them to respecting that boundary, no matter how many times you've had sex with them, or even if you've had sex with them with your penis involved.
you're not weird or broken for having needs or having boundaries, and you deserve lovers who respect those needs and boundaries. as someone who knows first hand, it's not worth it not to speak up.
this is a post for bottoms, switches, and tops. for subs or dom/mes. for anyone who feels like their no will go unheard or that the only reason people are sexually interested in you are those who want a woman with a dick. i promise you there are people who are out there who will listen, who will get you, and who will treat you how you deserve.
in fact? that's the absolute base line that anyone deserves during sex, and you deserve that and so much more.

ā€œI canā€™t go to hell. Iā€™m all out of vacation days.ā€ ā€” kunsel
Tumblr media
ā€œIcicle Inn is like the opposite of hell, I think,ā€ Zack replied, gesturing absently. ā€œOr, you know, hell in a different way. And ā€“ I may have neglected to mention this, but it's not exactly a vacation in so many words. It's like, you know, a mandatory mission that was given to me by Director Lazard, that I'm dragging you on because I get to do that now that I outrank you. Congratulations, Soldier, you've been assigned a mission.ā€ He clapped Kunsel on the shoulder. ā€œGet your stuff together, we leave at 06:00 tomorrow.ā€

@centuricnis : Continued reply from HERE Vito had grown accustomed to the silence that lingered between them, a stillness only interrupted by the occasional flicker of pain that crossed Leviā€™s face. Tonight, that stillness shattered.
Levi bolted upright in bed, gasping like a man dragged from the depths of a nightmareā€”and from the way his body shook, it wasnā€™t difficult to imagine he was still trapped in its clutches. Vito was already there, hand firm but gentle on Leviā€™s shoulder, offering a solid anchor without saying a word. Heā€™d learned by now that words often werenā€™t needed.
Vito waited, his fingers subtly adjusting their grip, not constraining but there, a steady reminder of the present. He knew the Captain would hate being fussed over, but heā€™d been around long enough to understand what it meant when someoneā€™s nightmares threatened to drag them under. Vito didnā€™t push, didnā€™t askā€”he simply stayed.
After a few tense moments, the Northerner could recognize Leviā€™s eyes finally began to open, the haze of fear gradually retreating. Vito met his gaze briefly but didnā€™t linger. There was no need to add to the weight already pressing down on the man.
When the former soldier's voice finally broke the silence, it was hoarse, the barest thread of a request: ā€œWe have any tea or something nearby?ā€
The brunette exhaled slowly, a subtle release of tension. ā€œYeah, Iā€™ve got it.ā€ His words were calm, easyā€”no rush, no urgency, just a matter-of-fact promise that heā€™d take care of it. Rising from the bed, Vito moved through the dim room with a natural grace, his steps quiet but deliberate. The kettle was where heā€™d left it, prepped ahead of time as always. He struck a match, lighting the stove with a soft hiss, the flicker of flame casting a brief warmth over the small, yet homely space they were occupying.
In the corner of his eyes, the male noticed that his Captain hadnā€™t shifted much since heā€™d left his side, still sitting upright, his hand resting absently against the blankets, knuckles pale from gripping too hard. Even now, the man carried the weight of too many battlesā€”both the ones heā€™d fought and the ones that haunted him.
Vito didnā€™t comment on it. That wasnā€™t his way. Instead, he busied himself with the tea, pulling a small pouch of herbs from his pack. They were something heā€™d brought with him from home, well, Solveig didā€”nothing special, but comforting in their simplicity.
As the water heated, he glanced back at Levi, his mind working through the usual thoughts that surfaced in moments like this. He knew he wasnā€™t going to fix anythingā€”not with tea, not with his presence, not with any damn thing in this world. But maybe, just maybe, he could help make the night a little less unbearable. That was enough ā€¦ for now.
When the kettle whistled, Vito poured the steaming water into a chipped cup, adding the herbs with delicate ease. The steam rose slowly, filling the room with the faint scent of something herbal and grounding. He brought the cup back to Levi, holding it out without ceremony.
Tumblr media
ā€œHere,ā€ he murmured, sitting beside the other once more by the edge of his bed. "It's nothing you'd probably prefer for the future ā€¦ but it will do its work just fine."
The Northerner shifted slightly, leaning back, his posture relaxed. He wouldnā€™t press the other man to talk about the nightmare. Hell, if Levi ever wanted to, he would. Until then, Vito would stay right where he was. A quiet, steady presence.
