♡ THE HELL YOU MEAN YOU'RE HIS LOVER?!
characters. xiao zhongli diluc kaeya childe wriothesley x gn!reader genre. romantic fluff. an. part 1 !!!! when someone else claims to be their partner / work wife. office!au. | please reblog!! im getting back into writing and reblogs with tags and comments will make me want to write more :D
xiao
you're pretty taken aback by the gall of this .... intern? whoever even was she? to claim that she was your husband's wife.
yep, that's how irrelevant she is
xiao was disgusted, to say the least. horrified.
"get your hands off me." he looks her in the eye, the sudden fierceness emitting a gasp from her.
"i love it when you're strict," she purrs, tracing her fingers up his neck. you smack them away.
"perhaps you'll love it if the ceo was stricter with you," you smile sweetly. "i don't think he takes too kindly to homewreckers."
zhongli
not again. not this ... piece of dirt? no, that might be an insult to his old friend guizhong.
she's a catty lady. beady eyes that went straight for his soul – her piercing stare seemed to always follow him.
he didn't like it one bit. his grip around your waist felt tighter, desperate even – a cold "let's go, dear," escaping his lips.
"so protective, suddenly?" you tease.
"i don't take kindly to those who try to insult my love, dearest."
diluc
oh, he goes red with rage. but he looks on at you proudly, because he knows you got it.
who even was she to claim that she loved him? a silly flowergirl who couldn't do her job right, because she was oogling him the whole time. she worshipped the ground he stepped on.
"who are you looking at?" you tap her on the shoulder, eyes wide with innocent curiosity.
"that man... he's mine." she gazes into his eyes, looking him up and down. you scratch your neck. she asks if you're alright.
"i'm afraid i'll have to correct you on that statement. that man is mine." you grin, turning your hand to show her your ring.
kaeya
okay, you totally get it. your husband is hot. but literally the AUDACITY the lack of SHAME the the the-
"please, we've been put together for almost all our cases. isn't that right, darling? it's almost as if they know we're good for each other." they purr.
darling?? DARLING?? you'll show them darling
"is that so?" you chuckle. "perhaps i ought to write in, then. i'm not too sure if my husband takes well to that. a violation of his personal life, if you will."
they go white at the sight of the ring.
"that's my love." kaeya chuckles, watching then stomp away.
childe
he's wildly uncomfortable. "your complexion is deeply concerning, tartaglia," the doctor chuckles.
"i wonder why." he returns it dryly.
he's too nice to avoid them – those longing stares, the notes slipped through stacks of his paperwork – he cant crumple them up and throw them away. he pretends that they're from you instead.
when that witch comes around to his desk, purring and grimy witch hands all over his papers; pretending to annoy him –
he can't take it. it's disgusting.
"i'd appreciate it if you left me alone," he stares at her. "my partner and i would appreciate it very much."
wriothesley
oh, he's firm. he's firm, and he's strict about it. word gets around quickly in the meropide, and he sits back with his cup of tea and sighs at the thought of a work lover.
he doesn't stand for it, though. he hates the thought of that.
"get your hands away from me, please," he replies coldly, when they run up to hug him, first thing in the morning.
sigiewinne looks on with a proud smile. i raised that boy.
the girl turns away from him with disgust – from seemingly perfect to nothing but sludge beneath her feet. she slinks away, and wriothesley is satisfied.
he can't wait to tell you the news over a cup of your favourite tea.
perhaps some alone time with each other will do the both of you good.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
"Long ago, in the timeless realm of Liyue, there was a story of love and envy, a tale that has been passed down through the ages. It speaks of Morax, our Geo Archon; Guizhong, the gentle and wise goddess; and a woman of unparalleled beauty and mystery, known to all as the Unknown Beautiful Lady.
The Beautiful Lady was a vision of grace and charm, her presence as enchanting as a moonlit night. Her beauty and elegance captivated even the gods. Morax, our protector, and Guizhong, the embodiment of wisdom, both adored her deeply. Their love formed a harmonious bond, unbreakable and pure.
Yet, this divine trio's tranquility was threatened by Osial, the formidable sea lord. Osial, consumed by envy, coveted the love and devotion that Morax received from his two beloveds. His heart twisted by jealousy, he sought to disrupt their happiness and claim their affections for himself.
Osial's envy grew into a dark cloud of deceit. He whispered malicious lies, hoping to fracture the trust and love between Morax, Guizhong, and the Beautiful Lady. But their bond was resilient, withstanding his insidious attempts to sow discord.
Frustrated by his failure, Osial confronted Morax directly. The confrontation was a cataclysmic clash of divine forces, their battle shaking the very heavens and earth. Osial, driven by his green-eyed fury, accused Morax of hoarding the love of the Unknown Lady and Guizhong, proclaiming that such affection should belong to him.
Morax, steadfast and noble, stood his ground. He fought not only with the strength of a god but with the fierce love he held for the Beautiful Lady and Guizhong. The battle raged on, a testament to the destructive power of jealousy and the indomitable strength of true love. Ultimately, Morax sealed Osial away, imprisoning him in the depths of the ocean to safeguard Liyue and his cherished ones.
And so, dear listeners, this legend became a poignant reminder of the enduring power of love and the perils of envy. The Beautiful Lady's ethereal beauty and mystery, Guizhong's enduring loyalty and wisdom, and Morax's unwavering strength and love form the heart of this timeless tale.
As we gather here tonight, let us remember the lessons of this story. Love is a powerful force, capable of withstanding the darkest storms, while envy and deceit can lead to ruin and despair."

Striking amber-colored eyes with yellow, diamond-shaped pupils intently listened to the old tale spun by the Storyteller. Despite the early morning rain, the hustle and bustle were nothing extraordinary for the residents of Liyue.
The storyteller's corner was fully packed, with people eager to hear the old legend. His smooth lips touched the rim of a heated cup, and as he took a sip, the flavorful liquid danced on his tongue. A relaxed hum escaped his lips, expressing his delight at the tea's rich taste.
"Woah, the story was awesome!" Paimon exclaimed, her eyes wide with excitement. "What did you think, Aether?"
Aether nodded thoughtfully, "Interesting, at least," he said, taking a sip from his own cup. He then turned his gaze to the handsome gentleman known as Zhongli. "But did it really happen, or is it just a tale?" Aether asked.
Zhongli only smiled and continued to drink his tea peacefully, the steam rising in delicate tendrils around his face.
"Hmpf, Zhongli! Please tell us!" Paimon demanded, her feet kicking the air in impatience. "At least the name of the beautiful woman!" She flew closer to Zhongli and whispered eagerly.
"Oh, are you truly so eager to hear?" Zhongli responded with a smile. "I thought you might find the old tale boring, considering you both seemed to daze off from time to time."
The rain continued to patter softly against the cobblestones, mingling with the distant sounds of morning vendors setting up their stalls. The air was thick with the scent of rain and the subtle aroma of tea leaves.
Paimon pouted, "We were just... uhh... absorbing the atmosphere!"
Zhongli chuckled softly. "Very well. The tale, as with many old stories, contains elements of truth and myth. The beautiful woman in the story... well, she was indeed real."
"Can you tell us more about her?" Paimon asked, her curiosity beaming.
Zhongli's gaze wandered to the rain, and a genuine yet bittersweet smile appeared on his lips. "She liked the rain a lot. Her voice, soft yet light as silk, would always say..."
- "As the raindrops tumble, their pitter-patter on my umbrella whispers gently to me. I somehow find brief serenity in these moments." -
He recalled her standing in the rain, holding her crimson red paper umbrella.
The raindrops danced on its surface as she extended her hand towards the falling droplets. She slightly turned around to face Zhongli, her peachy lips painted the same color as her umbrella. Her face was half obscured by the umbrella, yet her words resonated clearly.
The memory of her was vivid in his mind, a moment untouched by the erosion that slowly devoured his old memories.
"Y/N... That is her name," Zhongli mumbled, rolling her name off his tongue as his gaze remained fixed on the rain and the passing people.
Paimon and Aether exchanged glances, their faces reflecting a shared sadness as they saw their friend's distant expression.
The early morning rain continued to fall, creating a soft, soothing melody against the cobblestones. Lanterns hanging from shop eaves and street corners swayed gently in the breeze, casting warm, golden light that danced with the raindrops.
The air was thick with the scent of wet earth and the subtle fragrance of tea leaves from the nearby stalls. The crowd had thinned, yet the lingering presence of Zhongli's story created a bubble of quiet reflection.
Aether took a sip of his tea, savoring the warmth that contrasted with the cool, damp air. "She sounds like she was very special to you," he said softly, his voice carrying a note of understanding.
"She was," Zhongli replied, his voice tinged with both reverence and sorrow. "Her presence brought a sense of tranquility that I have rarely found elsewhere. Even now, the rain reminds me of her."
Paimon hovered closer, her usually energetic demeanor softened by the weight of the moment. "Do you think we might ever meet her?" she asked, her voice hopeful yet gentle.
Zhongli's smile returned, though it was tinged with melancholy. "Perhaps. The world is vast, and fate has a curious way of weaving our paths together. Until then, let us cherish the memories and stories that keep her spirit alive."
The rain began to lighten, a delicate mist rising from the ground as the first rays of sunlight pierced through the clouds.
In this serene moment, a crimson red paper umbrella appeared amidst the bustling crowd. Its vibrant red hue pierced through the throng of people, a color deeply etched in Zhongli's memories.
His eyes widened in disbelief, and his cup slipped from his hand, shattering into tiny pieces on the cobblestones. Yet, the sound was lost to him. Everything became muted, his vision blurring as he saw that unmistakable red on her lips, her face.
He couldn't breathe. He couldn't move.
Was he hallucinating? Was the after-rain playing tricks on his mind? Was he daydreaming?
As the red paper umbrella grew smaller in the distance, Zhongli's heart pounded in his chest. Suddenly, he sprang to his feet, the wooden table toppling over in his haste. He didn't care. He moved forward, pushing through the crowd, chasing the umbrella as if his life depended on it.
The streets were alive with activity, the early morning hustle blending with the gentle patter of lingering raindrops. Lanterns swayed gently in the breeze, casting soft, golden hues on the wet cobblestones. The scent of rain mingled with the aroma of freshly brewed tea and street food, creating an intoxicating atmosphere. Yet, all of this was lost to Zhongli. His entire being focused solely on the crimson umbrella, a beacon in the sea of moving figures.
People turned, startled by his sudden urgency, but he paid them no mind. His breaths came in short, sharp gasps, his vision narrowing on the retreating figure. The vibrant red color seemed to taunt him, slipping further away with every passing second. His heart raced, a mixture of hope and desperation driving him forward.
Was it really her? Could it be? The questions swirled in his mind, but he had no time for answers. He needed to see her, to confirm what his heart yearned for. The crowd thickened, but he pushed on, weaving through the throng with a determination that bordered on madness.
Finally, as he reached the edge of the crowd, he saw the umbrella come to a stop. The figure holding it turned, and for a brief, heart-stopping moment, their eyes met.
The world around him seemed to freeze, the sounds fading into a distant murmur. It was her. The woman from his memories, the one he thought he had lost forever.
Tears welled in his eyes, and his breath hitched. He had found her. Or perhaps, she had found him. Either way, in that magical moment under the after-rain sky, surrounded by the vibrant life of the city, Zhongli felt a spark of hope reignite within him.
He had been given a second chance, and he wasn't going to let it slip away.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

You turned around to find out who was following you, and your eyes landed on a tall man with brown hair and striking amber-colored eyes. He seemed out of breath, as if he had been chasing you through the crowded streets.
You waited for a response from the stranger, but he kept staring at you, his gaze intense and unyielding. The crowd continued to pass by, casting curious glances in your direction.
"I'd be embarrassed too, getting stared at like that," you said, your voice breaking the trance he seemed to be in. Somehow, your words pulled him back to reality.
He skipped a beat as he heard your voice and stepped forward as if he were dreaming. "Y/N..." he muttered your name, and your eyes widened in shock.
Instinctively, you stepped back, your right hand drifting closer to your sheathed Divine Key.
"How do you know my name?" you demanded, narrowing your eyes.
A strange feeling gnawed at you, a sense that something bad had happened between you and this man. Yet, your memories of this place were fragmented, coming and going in a chaotic, disjointed order that left you feeling more confused and hurt rather than providing any answers.
You could feel in your bones that this man had inflicted great pain on you. There was something about him that screamed betrayal, something tied to Osial.
This man... this man... You gripped your scabbard tighter, ready to draw your weapon if necessary.
The air around you felt charged with tension. The gentle murmur of the crowd faded into the background, the world around you shrinking to just the two of you. The man took another hesitant step forward, his eyes filled with a mixture of longing and regret.
"Please," he began, his voice soft and laden with emotion. "It's me, Mo-"
"Step back," you commanded, your voice icy and cold. Zhongli halted, a shocked expression taking over his face. Different, hazy memories sprang into your mind wildly, flickering like a faulty lantern. The pieces of your past were still too fragmented, too muddled to make sense of.
"Zhongli!" A shrill voice called from behind, snapping you both out of the tense moment.
The tiny figure of Paimon floated closer, her curiosity evident. "Why were you running..." she trailed off as she felt the murderous and cold aura radiating from you. Aether, sensing the dangerous presence, quickly stepped in front of Paimon and Zhongli, his expression wary. Yet, you noticed how his legs were shaking with fear.
Neither you nor the group in front of you moved or made a sound. The bustling crowd around you seemed oblivious to the tension, continuing their day as if nothing were amiss.
You focused on Zhongli, the man whose name triggered such a whirlwind of emotions and memories within you. Your right hand still rested on your sheathed Divine Key, ready to strike at any moment.
"Zhongli," you repeated, tasting the name on your lips. "Why did you call me by that name?"
Zhongli took a cautious step forward, his gaze steady despite the coldness in your eyes. "Because that is your name, Y/N. We shared many moments together... drank tea with Guizhong... why can't you remember?"
Aether, still shielding Paimon, looked between you and Zhongli, clearly unsure of what to do. "Maybe we should all take a step back and talk this out," he suggested, his voice gentle but firm.
'Guizhong?' you questioned in your mind. The name felt familiar yet strange, as did Zhongli's face. It was as though you recognized him from a dream you could no longer fully remember.
The confusion was palpable, and your hand trembled slightly on the hilt of your sheathed Divine Key.
"I suggest you leave me be," you said, your voice barely above a whisper but carrying an undeniable force. Without waiting for an answer, you turned and walked away.
Zhongli watched you go, his expression a mixture of sorrow and determination. He took a step forward, but Aether halted him, shaking his head. "Give her some space," Aether advised softly. "She needs time to sort through this."
Zhongli nodded reluctantly, his eyes never leaving your retreating figure.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Many papers lay scattered across the metallic table. Dottore leaned over, his crimson eyes scanning document after document, his hand pressed to his forehead in deep concentration.
This was unexplainable.
It didn't make sense.
Yet, he was certain his eyes and mind weren't deceiving him about what he had witnessed after the funeral.
He quickly fetched another sheet of paper and a pen, determined to capture every detail of his experience once more.
The moment Innamorati turned toward the frozen church, the falling snow had stopped, as if time itself had halted. Could she possess the ability to stop time? But why would she use it then? For what purpose? He recalled her muttering, 'Meaningless...'
Then, he heard the sound of shattering glass, and he perceived everything and nothing simultaneously. In that instant, he felt worthless, reduced to nothingness.
...
Dottore threw the pen away in frustration.
In that moment, he had felt a presence. A divine and pure presence, untouched by filth, yet sorrowful and sad. It was unmistakably the presence of the Divine Creator. Dottore was certain of it.
The Divine Creator had finally arrived.
His crimson eyes rested on a metallic black box, sealed with a highly complex mechanism. Only he knew of its existence; neither Pierro nor Her Majesty, the Tsaritsa, were aware of it.
Innamorati, the 0th Harbinger. She was the Divine Creator, Dottore was convinced. Nothing else could explain that unexplainable moment.
He walked towards the box and unlocked it. Inside, a glass tube filled with golden liquid sparkled under the lab lights.
This was the only solution to confirm his theory. One way or another, Dottore would get his answers. He could hardly wait for Innamorati to arrive at his lab.
As he gazed at the golden liquid, he felt a mixture of anticipation and reverence. This discovery could change everything. The Divine Creator, hidden in plain sight as the 0th Harbinger, was a revelation of immense proportions.
Dottore's mind raced with possibilities. If his theory was correct, the implications were staggering. Not only for the Fatui but for the entire world of Teyvat. The thought of unraveling such a profound mystery filled him with a thrill he hadn't felt in a long time.
He carefully placed the glass tube back in its secure position and sealed the box once more. His heart pounded with a mix of excitement and trepidation. The arrival of Innamorati would either confirm his greatest hypothesis or shatter it entirely.
Either way, he was ready. Dottore's eyes gleamed with determination. He would uncover the truth, no matter the cost. The Divine Creator was within his grasp, and he would not let this opportunity slip away.

Hello! I've got an angsty request:
Guizhong is absolutely convinced that Zhongli loves her in a romantic way, only to find out the hard way that he'll never love her like he loves you; the lady he spoiled and adored to this very day.
Truly yours.
—Pairings: Zhongli x Gn!Reader
Content: Death, angst, unrecruited feelings, drabble
☆instead of Guizhong perishing in the canon, it was you who perished.

The moon hung low in the Liyue sky as Zhongli awoke, drenched in cold sweat. The haunting nightmare had revisited him - the vivid image of you, battered and lifeless on the ground, his hands stained with your blood. He could still feel the weight of his spear dropping from his grasp as he knelt beside your limp form, crying out in anguish.
Zhongli glanced at the clock; it was nearly time to meet Guizhong. The two had grown closer after your passing, and she had misconstrued their connection as something more than a shared grief. Zhongli, though, remained stoic and composed as he washed away the remnants of the night's torment.
As he met Guizhong beneath the cherry blossom tree, she took a deep breath, her eyes revealing the nervous anticipation within her. "Zhongli," she began, "I cannot deny the feelings that have grown within me. Since we've spent so much time together, I thought… I thought you might feel the same way."
Zhongli's gaze softened, but his response was unwavering. "Guizhong, our connection is born of shared loss and companionship. I cannot reciprocate those feelings in the way you desire."
Her hopeful expression faded, replaced by a somber realization. "I see," she whispered, her eyes dropping to the ground.
Later, as she wandered through the quiet cemetery, she noticed Zhongli kneeling at your grave. Tears glistened in his eyes as he gently placed glaze lilies - your favorite flowers - on the cold stone. Guizhong's heart sank, realizing that you were the one Zhongli truly loved, adored, and spoiled.
Unable to bear the weight of unrequited love, she approached him. "Zhongli," she hesitated before continuing, "Do you ever wonder… if I were in their place instead, would things be different?"
Zhongli looked at her, his eyes reflecting both sorrow and determination. "No, Guizhong. Love cannot be forced or replaced. Each person holds a unique place in our hearts. What we shared, though meaningful, was different. And in honoring their memory, I must carry the weight of my feelings alone."
With those words, Zhongli returned his attention to your grave, leaving Guizhong to grapple with the reality that the love she sought would forever elude her.

painkiller — xiao.
— xiao (genshin impact) x gn!reader synopsis: when he was at his worst, only you treated it best. cw: major character death, friends to lovers, angst, hurt/comfort, settles during around archon war, a terribly written fic from years ago that i reposted so this is not proofread | wc: 2.8k notes: a sad attempt at me trying to write pre-archon war, spare me! reuploading this from ao3 btw...
the birds started chirping in the air as you walked out of your humble home. clutching your bag to your chest, you kept your belongings safe. being an instrumentalist was a talent of yours growing up, and now here you are, one of liyue's few musicians. you walked to the transport and sat in with a fruit vendor who smiled at you.
walking to the mt. aocang with gifts in hand to give to morax, guizhong, and the cloud retainer, you hummed to the silence of the area. suddenly, a dash of wind brushed through your hair. you chuckled, knowing exactly who it was from.
"hey, xiao," xiao walked by your side and walked with you. "hey, (y/n)," you smiled at his presence. "are you invited as well?" you asked, grinning at xiao. "correct, in fact, they told me to come fetch you," xiao explained, looking up at the mountain. "so hold on tight," xiao abruptly said, holding your body and the bag you carried. "what—" you got cut off by the coldness of the wind. shutting your eyes closed, you gasped for air.
"(y/n)! xiao! you've arrived!" guizhong cheered, helping xiao with holding the food you brought for the adepti. "xiao, you can put them down now," morax reminded, looking over at the both of you. "right, my apologies," xiao let you sit on a chair nearby.
"it appears that they're frightened, did anything happen on the way here?" the cloud retainer asked, looking over at you. "i think it was the teleporting," morax suggested, earning a nod from xiao who rested on the tree above them.
"come on, dear. eat this," guizhong offered you a bite of mora meat. you happily ate a bite and smiled at the goddess. "thank you, lady guizhong." she smiled back at you. "can you at least warn them next time?" guizhong playfully scolded xiao, making everyone laugh. "of course, lady guizhong."
"thanks for walking me back, xiao," he hummed, acknowledging your thankfulness. "it's only natural for me to do, (y/n)," he responded, earning a light chuckle from you. he unknowingly smiled at you, enjoying your happiness. "well, thank you for the kind act, alatus," you smiled, waving him goodbye as you returned home.
as you walked away, xiao felt blood rush to his cheeks. he knew he wasn't new to the feeling. it happens a lot when you're around. clearing his throat, he walked back to guili plains. "it'd be impossible, stop thinking about it." xiao reminded himself, as he always did.
since mortals and immortals aren't supposed to fall in love.
"thank you for walking them back, xiao," guizhong smiled, finding him walking back to the area. "it's my duty to help," xiao stated, catching up to guizhong. "you know, i find it nice that you two go well with each other," xiao choked. "remember when you suddenly appeared when they were playing music?" xiao covered his face from embarrassment. "they screamed twice! they fell and thought you'd kill them," guizhong laughed.
"their life has gone haywire since they got involved with the adepti," xiao stated, guizhong agreeing. "but we're here to keep them safe, so we should be fine, right?" xiao hesitated before nodding. "and they're in good hands, too." guizhong smiled at xiao, seeing his cheeks glow a slight pink.
"no, stop. this isn't allowed," xiao cut himself off and shook his head. a mortal? with an adeptus? impossible. lives so far apart, dreams so different from each other. but then, only you give him the butterflies.
and only you do it best.
it was a busy morning a few days later. multiple people came around and prepared for a small event that guizhong initiated. many people walked around with smiles on their faces from excitement. however, you were pacing back and forth, nervous. it was a small event, but your thoughts got to the best of you.
"what if i fail? what if i make a mistake? what if i become a laughing stock? what if everyone brings up the fact that i failed today? what—" you shook your head before starting to nibble on your fingernails. you halted and stood in silence at one major thought. "what if xiao sees?!" you started pacing in a faster speed.
"you'll be fine, (y/n)," xiao interrupted, standing by the door. "oh my god, warning please! don't scare me like that," you yelped from shock. "oh, my apologies," xiao trailed off. "i'm pretty sure it was you who called, though…" xiao muttered under his breath.
"i'm so nervous i can't even focus anymore, i'm so scared something will go wrong and it'd be my fault, i—" you were interrupted by a warm embrace. "you'll do fine, trust me. i believe in you." you swore there was a certain warmth in his gaze where it usually was cold. you swore his voice sounded like honey when it was usually ice. you swore his smile shined where there was usually none. you were calm. you're okay.
because he's here.
"a-alright, i'll calm down. but can you practice with me for a bit? i wanna go over the song a few more times," xiao chuckled, nodding. he grabbed the messy notes sheet before listening to you play. god, how stunning you were.
you blinked a few times before hearing xiao's voice. "great job, you did well." you could jump to the moon from how ecstatic you felt. you smiled brighter than the sun that day. xiao widened his eyes as he fell into the sweetness of your laugh. he cleared his throat as he heard your partner come in signaling you to come out to perform.
"thanks, xiao. i'll be going now!" xiao chuckled before nodding, vanishing into thin air. you walked outside to see a crowd turning to your arrival. you chuckled, sitting on a chair as you prepared to start the song.
xiao sat on a tree close to the stage and watched you play perfectly. he hummed and sang along, having memorized the song from a while ago. and he wouldn't want to admit, but he memorized this song from hearing you singing it every once in a while.
play a song that you'd like, and he'll know every line.
sunset came, and the guili plains were still as lively as ever. you were happy with everyone around. the livelihood of the area was energizing. the people, the songs, the crowd, the lights. even xiao enjoyed it.
but maybe because it was you.
"xiao?" his thoughts got cut off as you approached him with almond tofu in hand. xiao accepted it with a nod and thanked you silently. both of you sat in a secluded area, sitting on a tree where it was a bit chilly. there was a cold wind that passed by, making you shiver and envelope your body in your arms. xiao noticed and handed you his plate.
"xiao?" xiao briefly smiled and vanished into thin air, leaving you confused. a few seconds later, xiao came back with a coat and a blanket in hand. "here," he said as he passed them to you. "thank you, xiao." you smiled as he helped you put on the coat. "the sun is setting," xiao pointed out, looking at the sun that faded under the tall mountains. "and yet the place is as lively as ever." you laughed, agreeing.
"i'll miss moments like these. the livelihood, the happiness, the scenery, everything," you said with a smile growing. xiao chuckled. "yeah, i agree, the scenery is great, i could stare at it for days," xiao said, looking at you. you chuckled, oblivious to his loving stare. "moments like these i wish i could stop time," you giggled, continuing your meal.
moments like these you cherish, you wish you could keep. xiao would definitely fulfill your wishes and he will at a snap of a finger.
too bad he couldn't.
the archon war began. seeing deities take each other down for the sake of divinity was not something you would see daily. it was frightening. but you knew you'd be safe, of course you would be.
you just didn't expect everyone else not to.
havria's surge of power almost salinified everyone who remained. you ran as fast as you could, away from there. sal terrae was the last thing havria had for her people, and now here she was, slain by the first and last king of her people. "xiao, xiao, xiao, xiao," you called for xiao multiple times, sobs and ragged breaths in between. the fear of death grew bigger as you ran with the last few people who survived and ran with you.
after a few seconds, xiao appeared and helped everyone out of the area. xiao carried you out of the area while you cried in his warm embrace. "it's okay, (y/n). you're safe now," xiao reassured you, stroking your head with his warm hands. from orders of guizhong and morax, he guided everyone left to guili plains to stay safe. once you arrived at guili plains, you were the one who enlightened the two gods of the death of their fellow god.
"well that's…saddening…" morax responded, looking down in defeat. everyone stood in silence to honor havria's legacy until you heard screams outside. "damnit," morax cursed, running outside to protect the city. "everyone, take cover!" guizhong shouted, pulling you over to protect you. "lady guizhong, let me fight," you pleaded, pulling out the spear from thin air. "but (y/n)—" you cut her off and ran outside.
you took a deep breath before entering the battle. having learned a thing or two from xiao, you tried to help and defend yourself from enemies nearby. there was bloodshed everywhere. you let go of the fear and hoped for the best.
despite how strong everyone was, it wasn't enough to save everyone. the city that once stood tall under morax and guizhong's supervision crumbled to the ground. the entire war within the area eventually killed and/or harmed other people.
including you.
you coughed out blood as you felt a pole pierce through your abdomen. you turned to see someone grinning in victory. you yelped as you weakly raised your spear and pierced it through his body. "(y-y/n)!" you heard from the side, your vision getting hazy. "xiao…" you muttered as you slowly walked to the yaksha with most of your already fleeing strength.
the fear xiao had in his eyes when he saw you dying in his warm arms, from a random pole from a random stranger. it hurt.
morax turned to xiao and found him running to your dying body. he saw the random man laughing in victory and felt anger boil inside of him. he smashed his body with a gigantic meteor. he felt anger due to the fact that this moron destroyed the life of a human he thought was family to him because of how different you treated him.
"wishing you all the best, (y/n)." morax muttered, attending to the other enemies. xiao turned to morax and cried. "morax—" xiao started, only to be disrupted. "get everyone to safety!" he only shouted, pushing xiao away. xiao nodded, carrying you and gathering everyone and fleeing to mt. tianheng with the other people to keep them safe from further danger.
"…x-xiao—" you were interrupted by a cough accompanied by blood. xiao started worrying and a few tears escaped his eyes. "(y/n), no. not now, we're almost there, i swear." you laughed, trying to lighten the atmosphere. "why are you laughing? you're literally dying," xiao sobbed, still upset at how lightly you were treating this situation.
"come on, xiao. lighten up a bit, it's not like i'm disappearing forever," you chuckled. "you're not immortal like i am, (y/n). please, let's just go—". "xiao, please…" you begged, slightly crying. "you're hurt, we need to go—". "xiao…" you called out.
"(y/n), please! you're dying! why do you think i am doing this? we need to get you healed!" xiao cried, giving in to his heart. breathing in a lot deeper than most breaths you've taken, you smiled. "xiao, you kill the pain. better than anyone or anything else in the world"
"you're my painkiller," you touch his cheek with your almost cold hands. "so it doesn't hurt." xiao started crying, sobbing as some people stopped by. "(y/n), please i'm begging you—". "xiao, please. go on, bringing me will only risk the others' lives" you responded. "but—"
"xiao." you called, stopping him. he cried for a few minutes.
"i hate you, i hate you, i hate you, i hate you—" xiao kept chanting as he carried your body and ran for his life, everyone doing the same. "xiao, i swear to the archons—" you were cut off by xiao. "just shut up and stay awake." xiao shouted, running faster than light. "wow, rude." you joked. "this is not the time to be joking, (y/n). you're literally dying." xiao responded, angered. "so?" you retorted. xiao halted, slowing down for a bit.
"…i love you." he muttered, weak in volume, but loud in your heart. "if there were a word better than love, i'd use it. i just realized how special you are to me. you make me feel things that i don't with others. you give me emotions to feel. you give me motivation to do things. you give me what i need when i need it. you make the pain disappear."
with your mouth left open from shock, you ignored the pain and the blood seeping out of your clothing. "you're my painkiller," he muttered. "and only you kill it the best." you smiled, your heart fluttering. silence grew in between the both of you until you spoke.
"hey xiao, can we walk like we usually do? pretend that i'm not dying." you muttered, gripping onto his clothing. xiao let out a sigh, nodding as he slowed down on the path to the area they evacuated to. xiao walked, step by step, listening to you ramble about random things. he suddenly started sobbing in silence.
"xiao, you know i love you, right?" xiao nodded, hearing the silence in your voice. "well, i love you," he chuckled. "thank you for everything," tears started running down his face. "thanks for killing the pain," he smiled, for you. "i'll see you soon."
he felt how your arms went limp. he felt how the silence replaced your voice. he felt how cold your skin was.
you were dead.
he cried, for an hour. he came down to where liyue harbor was established. everyone saw how xiao carried your dead body on his back, the same feeling of death reflected on his face. no one could decipher his feelings.
anger that he couldn’t save you? sadness from the fact that he lost you? grief from your death? happiness for your peaceful passing?
morax arrived at the area after a while, carrying guizhong's hair clip. xiao and morax looked at each other and sighed. everyone who died in the battle was buried in a certain area. xiao sighed, standing up. a blank expression adorned his face.
maybe this time, no one can help him.
"why do we always run errands for people?" paimon asked, annoyed. "oh come on, it's zhongli. i'm sure this isn't anything that big of a deal." lumine replied, laughing. lumine, while travelling with paimon, came to give xiao a box delivered from zhongli. none of the two knew what was in the box.
"xiao~" paimon called, looking for him where zhongli told them to go. "paimon? traveler? what are you both doing here?" xiao questioned, standing up from the rock. "zhongli told us to give you these," lumine offered a box that zhongli had prepared. xiao opened the box to qingxin painkillers and violetgrass on a hair clip. he smiled, thinking of you.
"woah, seeing xiao smile is so rare!" paimon said, peeking at the box. lumine and paimon didn't really question the hairclip, despite it being unnatural for xiao. "painkillers? are you sick?" lumine asked, concerned. xiao shook his head. "it's nothing of your concern," xiao answered, holding the box close to his chest. "let us walk you to the inn! we have to talk to verr about a commission anyways!" paimon suggested.
"so, xiao," paimon started, dragging out the syllables in calling his name. xiao hummed in response. "what's that hairpin for?" paimon asked. xiao smiled, looking at the pink skies. "someone special," he responded, looking back at the two with a small smile.
"woah, they must be that special if you're smiling, huh?" paimon blabbered. xiao chuckled, nodding. "they're an old friend who i cherished a lot," xiao stated. "ooh, who are they?" lumine chirped in, asking.
"they're my painkiller."

Blood of Gold and Tears of Stars [Genshin Creator AU]
soooooo, I've recently discovered the Divine Creator AU and got obsessed. Naturally, that means I started a new fic, lmao. It's going to be updated on AO3 Here, but I figured I'd post the first chapter here <3
--------
The people of Teyvat had long forgotten their Divine Creator, the usurpers from the Stars having used dark knowledge to seal Her and the memory of her away inside the floating islands of Celestia within a year of arriving on her planet. And this imprisonment lasted for many, many years. However, after the fall of Kaenri’ah 500 years ago, cracks in the magic they used began to form. The Tsaritsa, fair Goddess of Love, was the first to remember their beloved Creator. This revelation led to her creation of the Fatui--she hoped overthrowing Celestia and the Heavenly Principles would undo the blasphemous act and free Elysia Seraphine at long last.
It was also around this time that the Ley Line Outcrops began to appear all across Teyvat--the first rumblings of Elysia’s returning consciousness. As the Ley Line Blossoms began to be purified, bits and pieces of the Creator returned to the people of Teyvat--and they began to remember. No one knew where the Creator was, but they held onto the hope that she would return to them one day and began chronicling the stories they could remember of her in the meantime.
And then, one bright sunny day--an immense implosion of elemental energy swept across the land, stopping at the central island of Celestia. Those nearest to the floating island of the Gods stared up in shock, and after a moment of unnerving stillness--the islands disintegrated in a burst of blinding golden light. At long last, the Creator had awoken from her imprisoned slumber.
--------------------------
Elysia fell from the sparkling wreckage of Celestia, the winds of Teyvat wrapping around her limp body and slowing her descent to the shores near Mount Mingyuan. As the sleeping Goddess neared the ground, a group of Dendro slimes jumped out of the earth and made a bed of elemental energy as the wind gently laid her down.
The Dendro slimes bounced around her protectively, as the teal-haired protector of Liyue appeared in a sudden burst of smoke--wide amber eyes staring at the peaceful form of Elysia Seraphine. He deflected the bursts of dendro the slimes shot at him, scowling at the interference as he swiped at the largest of the slime. “I’m here to protect her Grace, back off.” He glanced back at the Creator as he snapped at the slimes, suddenly worried he might disrupt her slumber. After assuring she still slept soundly, he squinted back at the slimes as they plopped back into the ground one after another--deeming him safe. The Vigilant Yaksha released his hold on his spear, letting it disappear as he carefully approached the Divine Creator. Stepping inside her aura made him pause, a look of surprise crossing his face as the years of karmic debt he had accumulated just...faded to silence. The relief was as blessed as it was unsettling, but Xiao shook his shock off as he gently crouched down. It felt blasphemous to touch her so casually, but Morax had ordered her safe retrieval until the Creator awoke. Shaking his head again, Xiao gently lifted Elysia into his arms with her head cradled into the hollow of his neck and shoulder, before disappearing in another cloud of smoke.
A pair of pink eyes narrowed in irritation as the two disappeared from sight, as the white-haired woman stepped out from the rocks she had been hiding behind. As the Dendro Slimes popped out of the ground to attack her, the woman materialized her sword and cut all five down with one strike of her blade. Glaring at the spot the Divine Creator had been, she scoffed before tearing open a rip in space and stepping back through.
----
Zhongli sat at the stone table he, Guizhong, and Cloud Retainer used to eat at atop Mount Aocang, lost in thought as he awaited the arrival of Xiao and Lady Elysia. To think that Celestia had locked away everyone’s memories of their Divine Creator...it angered him greatly. Now that she had been freed at last, all the hidden memories had rushed back--and he finally understood what the Tsaritsa had been working towards these long years.
He blinked away his thoughts as Xiao appeared in a cloud of smoke, standing and walking towards the oft scowling Yaksha. His eyes immediately went to the still form of his Goddess, as he fell to his knees. She looked so peaceful asleep in Xiao’s arms, and the golden dragon of Contracts had a sudden spike of envy. Shaking himself from his stupor, Zhongli stood back up with a clearing of his throat, before turning to walk back towards the stone table with a hand beckoning Xiao to follow. He paused upon reaching the table, conflicted on laying his Goddess upon such an uncomfortable surface. Before he had a chance to think of a solution, the trees near the table shivered as dendro energy pulsed through the area, while a gentle breeze brought soft bedding of flowers and leaves to rest atop the stone table. Awed by the reverence the very land seemed to bestow upon her, Zhongli nodded to Xiao as the Yaksha stepped forward and hesitantly layed Elysia upon the created bed.
The two stood in silence for a few moments, before Zhongli shook himself and took a few steps away from her, Xiao following behind him. “Did you have any trouble bringing Her here?”
Xiao shook his head, crossing his arms across his chest. “No, Lord Lapis. She was being protected by Dendro Slimes when I arrived, but no one else was around.” He paused, contemplating his thoughts before hesitantly asking his Archon. “Do you really think anyone wishes to harm Her Grace?”
Zhongli hummed, looking back at the sleeping Creator, slowly answering the question. “I believe it is a distinct possibility that Celestia put fail-safes in place. It seems best to not risk Her injury until we know for certain.” Xiao nodded in understanding as the Geo Archon continued, “Everyone likely knows what the implosion of energy meant, and will come searching for her--with good and ill intent certainly. I’m sure the other Archons are like to trace her aura here before long, though I do not know if any will show themselves.”
Xiao nodded again, looking back at Elysia before scanning the surroundings for potential threats. “Have you summoned the other Adepti to guard her until she wakes?”
Zhongli nodded slightly, his eyes still locked on the sleeping form of his Creator, entranced. “Indeed, they should arrive before too long--I find it imperative to protect Her Grace from further harm.” As he spoke, he abruptly turned to stare out across the sky, sensing the abnormally shifting winds as he spotted a green and brown-clad form shooting towards them. He immediately stood and shot his arms out, “Solidify!” The pillars shooting up around Elysia caused Xiao to jolt, immediately drawing his spear and facing towards the inbound figure as a protective geo field formed around the Creator.
Zhongli only slightly relaxed upon recognizing Barbatos, the short windborne bard gracefully landing before the pair with an unusually somber and serious expression on his face. Xiao remained in his defensive stance, unsure if the bard posed a threat or not and unwilling to take the chance. “What brings you to my domain, Barbatos?” Zhongli’s tone was guarded and weary, his arms crossed over his chest and back rigid.
Venti gave a shallow dip of his head, leaning to the side to see around Zhongli--eliciting a small gasp as he saw Elysia. He took a few steps towards her, before Xiao sliced his spear out to stop him as Zhongli unwittingly let out a low growl deep in his throat. Venti stumbled to a stop, blinking owlishly at the two of them before giving a weepy-eyed pout. “Why are you keeping Her Grace to yourself Morax? We all want to see her now that she has been returned to us.”
Zhongli’s eyes and ends of his hair started to glow slightly, as his draconic instincts picked up, golden scales spreading across his cheeks. “I am ensuring her safety from those who may wish to harm her--we do not yet know for certain that Celestia has not sent people to attack her.”
Venti’s eyes widened, his already pale skin going ashen--he had been so excited to feel her presence that the thought of her safety hadn’t crossed his mind. “Oh.”
As the three continued their heated debate, Elysia’s golden eyes slowly opened. She stared up at the open sky in awe, slowly lifting an arm up in muted curiosity and disbelief. As she slowly sat upwards, she turned to look at the three who were serving as her protectors, a bemused smile on her face. With a whisper of wind helping her stand for the first time in at least 10,000 years, she took a careful step towards the three. Seeing the shimmering geo energy around her, she skimmed a hand over the surface and the shield dissolved.
Xiao was the first to notice her, the angry voices of long dead gods quieting as she drew near. Dropping his spear, the Yaksha fell to his knees with his face upturned towards her. The two ex-Archons ceased their bickering to look over--freezing upon seeing their Divine Creator gazing at them mere feet away. Following Xiao, Zhongli and Venti both knelt on the ground, bowing their heads to Elysia in supplication. Of all the denizens of Teyvat, the Archons felt the most guilty at forgetting their Goddess--and bowing to her usurper.
She tilted her head slightly to the side, her long elegant tail whispering along the ground as it swayed back and forth. Taking another step towards them, she cupped each of the gods cheeks in one hand to lift their heads up. “Do not bow your heads in shame, my dear Cherubim. You are not to blame for my entombment and expungement from memory.” As the two gods looked up, Xiao felt a bitter sense of longing for her caress as well. As if she could read his thoughts, Elysia turned towards him and ran her fingers through his hair in a gentle caress. “Thank you for bringing me somewhere safe while I regained my strength, my brave and sorrowful Yaksha. You have done well, so please don’t view yourself so lowly.” She gave him a soft smile, drawing her hand back as she clasped both behind her back and watched the three with bemusement.
Xiao blinked his eyes rapidly, trying to fight back the tears prickling at the corners of his eyes. After a moment of silence, Zhongli rose to his feet--causing the other two to follow in his lead when Elysia nodded encouragingly. Zhongli was also the first to break the silence, sounding uncharacteristically unsure of himself in the presence of his Goddess. “Your Grace..Is there anything we can do for you? I am sorry that you were so sacrilegiously treated for so long without us doing anything to assist you.”
She chuckled softly, her smile brightening at the sincerity in his words, “Do not fret, dear Morax. Even if you had learned sooner, there is not much more that could have been done. The usurpers used dark knowledge they brought from beyond the stars, and I was unprepared for such an attack.” As she spoke, her tail swished and she raised her head to look towards the glowing blue waypoint as it pulsed with energy. Curiosity sparked in her eyes at the unknown technology, another bemused smile passing onto her face as Zhongli and Xiao took up protective stances in front of her.
They both relaxed as the form of Shenhe, Ganyu, and Xianyun stepped onto the grass. “One does not understand why ones charges do not visit unless there is some dire situation!” Zhongli cleared his throat, getting Xianyun’ attention before she could continue ranting at the half qilin and exorcist pair.
Ganyu and Xianyun both let out a small gasp upon seeing Elysia, while Shenhe studied the Goddess with an impassive expression. Ganyu bowed deeply to her, while Xianyun dipped her head respectfully as she took a step towards them. “One is pleased to see you in good health, Your Grace.”
Elysia stepped between Xiao and Zhongli, smiling at the new arrivals as she neared them. “Thank you, Cloud Retainer. It is wonderful to see the sky after so long in slumber.”
Venti, who had remained quiet this entire time, stepped around Zhongli and Xiao to stop beside Elysia. “Is there anything you wish to do, Lady Elysia?”
She turned to look at him, her long sparkling hair draping across her shoulder as she tilted her head in thought, tapping a finger against her chin. “I would like to travel across Teyvat, and see what has become of my land.” She turned back towards the newcomers, walking towards them as she studied the waypoint with her hands once again clasped behind her back. “How do I use this curious device? Is it connected to my Irminsul network, as my memory blossoms are?”
Unsure how to interact with the curious Creator, the group shuffled together to look at her, before Zhongli answered her question. “I believe so, Your Grace. Anyone who can control the elements is able to access the system by touching the device, and it connects to all the other waypoints or statues in the area.” He hesitated as she hummed in contemplation, walking around the device thrice as she studied it. “Would..you allow me the honour of showing you my city of Liyue Harbour?”
She glanced up to him with a slight smile, but was unable to respond before Venti cut in. “Your Grace, my city of Freedom, Mondstadt, would be an excellent place to begin your journey~ It is where wayward travellers often start!”
Before any more bickering could begin, she raised her hands up in a placating manner, “Patience, please, my cherubim. I intend to visit all of the stations, and will gladly welcome a knowledgeable tour-guide.” She noticed Ganyu nervously wringing her hands, and tilted her head at her. “Is there something wrong, dear Ganyu?”
The half-qilin looked up at her with a nervous smile, “I’m sorry for my forwardness, Your Grace, but Lady Ningguang asked me to invite you to her Jade Palace if you felt so inclined.”
Elysia smiled at her, nodding her head in acceptance. “Very well, that is where we shall start then.” She looked over each of her welcoming party in turn. “I greatly appreciate your concern for my well-being, however...I do not wish to travel with a large party.” She smiled softly, dampening the bluntness of her statement.
Those gathered each bowed their heads, with Venti waving his arms in front of himself to ward off her apology. “Of course, Your Grace! We will gladly accept whatever you wish of us!” Zhongli and Xiao both nodded their agreement, with Xianyun giving a slight harumph.
Xiao bowed to her with a hand on his chest, “If you have need of me, Your Grace, merely call out my name and I will be there.”
“One shall return to Yilong Wharf for the time being! Come Shenhe, one wishes to ‘catch up’ with you, as they say.” The tall adepti smiled at Elysia, bowing her head once again. “One hopes you have safe travels, Your Grace, and that we may meet again soon.”
Elysia smiled after the two, as Shenhe gave her a nod as they passed to touch the waypoint and teleport away once again. Venti looked like he was fighting the urge to latch onto her, as the stormy-haired woman turned back to the waypoint with a nod to Ganyu. “I shall ask you to input where we are going, Ganyu. I will meet with Ningguang before beginning my exploration.”
“O-of course, Your Grace.” Ganyu bowed to Zhongli with an apologetic grimace, before she walked up to stand right beside Elysia. “U-uhm, I will have to touch you to teleport us both together, Your Grace, I’m very sorry.” The nervous adepti selected the Jade Chamber teleport point, looking at Elysia for confirmation.
She smiled encouragingly at her, placing a hand on the younger womans’ shoulder. “There is no reason to apologize, dear adepti, it is quite all right.”
The two disappeared, with Ganyu’s cheeks growing rosy pink.
----
When it was only Xiao, Venti, and Zhongli remaining, the anemo god sighed as he sank to the ground. “Whoah.”
Zhongli chuckled slightly, crossing his arms across his chest. “Our Goddess truly seems to be a kind soul. I am glad the history that we were able to regain was right.”
Venti let out a nervous laugh, nodding along. “I was honestly a little worried that she would be like the Heavenly Principles. The winds of Teyvat sing in her presence though!”
Zhongli nodded as well, “As does the earth.” His expression turned more serious, as he looked at Xiao. “Nonetheless, I wish for you to stay near her, Xiao. We must ensure she is not harmed, as it would be a great sin for her to have any more pain. We must ensure her happiness and safety now that she is finally free to roam her land again.”
“Understood, Lord Lapis.” Xiao nodded, bowing to both Venti and Zhongli before disappearing in a cloud of smoke.
Venti stood back up, stretching his arms high above his head before grinning widely at Zhongli. “Well! I’m off to Mondstadt to sing praises for our wonderfully beautiful Creator! I’ll make sure everyone in my City of Freedom is awaiting her arrival~” With a giggle, the anemo god propelled himself into the air on a gust of wind, waving goodbye to Zhongli before flitting away.
Zhongli shook his head at Barbatos’s always carefree nature, before using the waypoint himself.

Warning: Genshin Leak
Lanya (also known as Madame Ping and Streetward Rambler) will be released as a playable character in version 5.4. She is a 5* Polearm Girl.
5.4 will be the Lantern Rite patch and will also see the release of a new 4* Catalyst Girl.
Okay, I have many complaints about this but let's go slow
First of all! Why is her name Lanya? Her human name is already (something) PING, why not keep it? Why not go to something similar?
Second, why her? We KNOW they are going to transform her into a young girl, and I think that takes away from her character. Madame Ping whole identity is being an old lady that guides young girls. She has taken YaoYao, Yanfei and Xiangli under her wing, they call her grandma! Wouldn't ot be weird to just make her a young woman now? One that looks around their age? And yeah, maybe they will keep the way she speaks, but isn't that too similar to Faruzan and Chasca? They are also elders that look way too young
Third, she's and old woman and lives with this body because of GRIEF, her life tells a beautiful story about love and how losing someone can take a toll on you. She loved Guizhong so much that upon her death, she took a form of an elderly woman. And wasn't that a great metaphor about grief, how much it affects you and your body, and how it can make you feel like time is slower without them?
Fourth, WHY PING? It's the year of the snake, then why oh why, focus on Ping? And not Baizhu, Changsheng, Chenyu Vale or the goddess of dreams?
I don't understand why they keep doing this, it took them years to release Baizhu, when they do, they make him connected to Chenyu Vale and the chasm, and then they just.. don't use him? Not even when Chenyu Vale, his HOME, where his drip marketing focus on, released. He hasn't been in a single event, and when we finally reach the year of the snake, they focus on Ping, a character that no one asked for to be playable (unless she was old)
This feels like a disservice to fans, to the characters and to their own game. There's is a lot to unravel about Baizhu, he has connections to a lot of things, a lot of people, he's very mysterious, and tricky. We haven't seen him or Changsheng in Chenyu Vale or talking to the adeptus there, we haven't seen him talking to ANYONE beside Qiqi and the traveler (and I guess Yelan that one time?), he hasn't visited any nation, didn't make appearances in events after becoming playable, there are parts of his story that just feel empty or untold, and he's a great character! Her legitimately a great person, a good person, plus Changsheng is super funny, he has devoted followers, especially in Asia, so why not let him have the spotlight for a few seconds? Why ignore him that much?
Honestly, my only hope rn is that he will appear alongside Pantalone

I'm so mad about this year's lantern rite lmao. It was centred around Menogias, the Geo Yaksha. Xiao's dead comrade and close friend. His official title was General Kapisas. He's based off Sun Wukong.
And there was nothing about him exept for a few random lines? Barely anything? I don't understand why. This was what Xianyun said about him- completely randomly- and then went back to talking about something else???
"He possessed a singular talent for clothing designs. He had an exquisite eye for not just fabric selection and colour pairing, but also for what accessories could best accentuate a garment's overall styling." (Dialogue one.)
"At a gathering of adepti, Bonanus (hydro Yaksha. She and Menogias went mad with Karmic Debt and killed each other. She and the Pyro Yaksha, Indarius, were presumably close friends. Bonanus' official title was General Chizapus and she seemed to be a gentle person.) once complained in secret to the ladies in attendance that the skirt Menogias made for her was too long and impractical, lamenting that it would only hinder her in battle." (Dialogue two.)
"However, when one asked Menogias his opinion, he remarked that the train of the skirt would serve to enhance her adeptal countenance by exemplifying a certain elegance. Menogias was that type of person. When it came to topics relating to garments and accessories, not even Rex Lapis could best his stubbornness." (Dialogue three.)
AND THAT'S IT?? Menogias designed Zhongli's outfits. Menogias fought in the archon war and was one of the Yakshas that sealed Guizhong away when she passed. He was one of the central figures in Xiao's life and Xiao grieved him terribly after he died. His death along with his siblings' deaths impacts Xiao till this day. He was like a brother to Xiao. Xiao talks in a quest (I don't remember which, sorry) about how Menogias once mentioned wanting to live a peaceful mortal's life-but in the end Menogias lost his sanity for the sake of his nation and his people and killed his sister, someone he held very, very dear. It's tragic. It's heartbreaking. His karmic debt took over his mind and destroyed someone he wanted to protect and live a mortal's life with. Menogias is such a wonderful character? When I saw in the livestream that the main lantern was Menogias, I gasped and sat up. Yaksha lore?! Menogias centric lantern rite?! Instead we dealt with Gaming's fucking family problems. Why couldn't that have been a sub-plot? Why didn't they use Gaming's stubbornness and passion as a parallel to MENOGIAS' stubbornness, passion and ferocity of both mind and body? Why???? Zero stars, I'm admittedly biased as fuck. I love the Yakshas and I wanted Yaksha lore- and this isn't like a "ugh I didn't get what I wanted" thing it's a "this year's lantern rite had so much potential that was absolutely wasted"
Like sure, the Xianyun-Shenhe convo was comedy gold, Gaming running to his dad and hugging him was sweet, but? Couldn't that have been a sub-plot? Menogias was this year's Mingxiao lantern. I don't care if they executed it badly and just brought him up via long winded exposition- the fact that barely anyone knows about Menogias is so sad and it could genuinely have made for such a good story? The fact that Xiao didn't even attend a festival more or less dedicated to him and his family? When "Lantern Rite Festival is a festival celebrated every year, on the day of the first full moon to commemorate heroes of the past."
I wish Xiao could have at least seen the Mingxiao lantern from afar. I wonder how he would have reacted to watch the people he protects honour someone he loved so much. Would he have cried? Could we have gotten a scene where an adeptus comforts Xiao? That was his brother.
Xianyun hangs out with her children, Zhongli with Hu Tao, the Fontaine cast randomly drops in which was kind of nice to see since Furina (<333333) came along. Moon Carver and Mountain Shaper (I cannot believe they got NPC treatment, what the fuck) hung out but Xiao was alone until the traveller releases a lantern with him. On lantern rite. Which is a festival more or less meant to commemorate him. He got what, a minute of screen time?? Two? Three?
In Xianyun's story quest (and obviously this is a spoiler for her story quest) we see just how much the traveller misses their sibling, how desperately they want them back and how much they bottle up their feelings. Xiao must feel the same, right? I can't imagine how guilty he must feel or how much he must wonder what life would be like had they survived. It would even have tied in with Gaming's story- how much he'd want his family to accept him and be there with him on lantern rite. Why didn't we get something about these three? Why was there so much focus on a random four star (I'm sorry if you like Gaming, I love his playstyle but I really don't give a shit about the character).
I feel like they really just want people to pull for Gaming and Xianyun, I really can't explain why they (imo) fumbled this so bad. I expected so much after the Fontaine AQ but man this was so disappointing it literally killed by desire to keep playing the game. I'll just do my dailies and log off, HSR welcomes me with a much warmer embrace

🔥 let the salt fly
We're gonna start big, because I don't censor myself when I reblog this meme. Sorry, ladies— but female characters aren't struggling because of some internalized and deep-rooted sense of misogyny (except maybe I harbor some of that by now because my god, do the 'support women' posts and 'it's so difficult, guys' defenses getting really tiring), they're struggling because of your own sense of entitlement. Fine, okay, do people flock to male characters a little faster? Certainly, but that's not because people hate women (again, maybe me in 2025...), but maybe it's because most of us seem to be or identify as women, and so we may enjoy writing and writing with something and someone vastly detached from ourselves. I know I definitely do.
Outside of that, you don't have to hire yourself a bulldozer to break through the big walls of oppression and misogyny, you're able to get interaction just fine. You know how? Just put your bloody mind to it. Getting interaction doesn't come from following a large amount of people, posting a starter call, and expecting them to mass-like it on day one, people aren't going to automatically flock to you like that. Newsflash: that happens only to the most select few blogs by some stroke of sheer luck. Finding interaction means engaging with your own muse first and foremost, and also with other people's. If I go on your new blog for this new female character whether she's canon or an OC, and I find only some fancy graphics, a page of information, a starter call, and nothing else, I'm not very tempted to follow you, or to engage with the blog. Does that sound cruel to your potentially sensitive, and oppressed ears? Listen, setting up a blog takes some effort, certainly, but that on its own doesn't do enough— because guess what, it's even easier to abandon a blog. I want to see you engage with your own muse, I want to see that you are interested in the muse that you write, because if I see none of that, then why would you be interested in interacting with mine, from said muse? I consider that chance to be quite low, and the chance to see you disappear within a week incredibly high. People who actively talk about their muses, the people who actively engage left, right, and center, those will find interaction time, and time again. And wallowing on your blog, or people's notes, about how 'others don't understand how much harder it is', give me a break.
If you're struggling? I would dare to bet that you're not putting in the effort, and instead you're claiming victim mentality, and hoping that the world comes to lay itself down at your feet in pity. That, or you're playing into one of two popular 'stereotypes' (for lack of a better word): with which I mean that your blog has plenty of 'ship with me' undertones (don't worry, male muse blogs have that plenty as well), or it's obvious that you're seeking that— or, you're playing into the all-powerful 'step on you' female character trope that we all love to hate in !@#$%^ abundance. But I'll reserve a salt post for that one. On the shipping topic though? Let me give you guys an example: when I first made Guizhong's single muse blog, I made it because I loved her character first and foremost, and did I come to enjoy the ship of Guizhong/Zhongli as I spent time researching? Yes. But guess what I wasn't here for, that ship. It came second, it has always come second— but the amount of Guizhong blogs that I came across that were obviously looking around for a Zhongli were insane. But in the same way, I also see Zhongli blogs made just to seek out and write the popular ship with Childe, I also see Wriothesley blogs who seem to be around only to find their Neuvillette to ship with, and nothing else (my god, don't get me started on how much you can do with either of those characters outside of these ships— AAAAA, god, I swear, I am not your strongest soldier).
But do you now see why I harp, and harp, and harp, on people needing to actually show investment and engagement with their own muses? It is the best, and quite frankly, the only way to dodge the allegations. And before you go 'but those are unfair, Sae', guess what, muffin pie fruitcake, stereotypes exist for a reason, and reputations exist for a reason— we didn't just go and make all of that up just because we hate women, don't worry. Just, take it from a woman who has written plenty of women, and still is, you can do it. You just need to tear up your little victim and entitlement cards, and put in the work. Oh, and maybe wait to try and ship with popular male characters until... you know.

What a chaotic family.
In which an isekai'd person gains a family throughout their journey in Teyvat.
-----------
The adepti were having a simple 'brunch' that was introduced by Havria, the goddess of salt.
"Havriaaa~~ One more bite-" Guizhong, her lover was cut off by an odd ring that came from her beloved.
*Ring!* *Ring!*
"Havria, might i inquire as to what that unique rectangular object you have?" Cloud Retainter asks.
"O-oh, it's a phone. A device that allows me to communicate with my family quickly. My siblings are calling..." Havria accepts the call, as a loud screaming came from the other side.
"HAVRIA MY DEAREST BELOVED ATE (OLDER SISTER) PICK US UP PLEASE-" Kunikuzushi, or kuni in short, yelled for his dearest life.
Havria sighed, what had her siblings done this time? "Did you get high without me? Or did set the house on fire again." Rubbing her head which ached.
"IT'S NOT THAT, WE WERE MAKING A JET THAT ATE Y/N TOLD US ABOUT AND SHE SAW IT, FLEW IN IT, NOW SHE'S FLYING IN THE SKY WITH NO WAY TO GET DOWNNNNN!! KHOI HAS FAINTED." Yells came from the other side as Havria hang up.
Taking a bottle of strong wine, she gulped it all down setting the bottle gently. "Havria..?" Morax said questioningly.
"Puta, mga gago sila bakit limang minutos lang na wala ako doon, muntik na sila mamamatay? Oh well." Havria cursed in the language her chaotic older sister had taught her.
(Translation: Fuck, they're idiots i wasn't there for five minutes and why have they already nearly died? Oh well.)
"Apologies i have to leave quickly before my Ate actually dies this time... Mwah, i love you Guizhong, I'll visit you soon!" Havria teleported to a waypoint, seeing her older sister in the makeshift jet. (Guizhong panicked like crazy since she would be meeting with her girlfriends family and sought help-)
Focusing on the body of the jet, she turned it into salt when it was near the ground, also adding a large amout of Iodized salt to soften the landing.
Kuni, Khoi, and Y/n knelt infront Havria, one of the most responsible siblings with Beisht, scolded and worried about her siblings for being idiots as she prepared a snack for them to eat-
"And sarap Ate!" Kuni exclaimed cheerfully. Havria had mastered the recipe of pan de sal (or bread of salt if you translate) better than you.
"Right, when this aside, when are you going to introduce us to your girlfriend?" Y/n inquired, curious about her siblings love life.
"Pff- cough cough! Ate, I'll introduce you to Guizhong later-" Havria nearly choked on her food.
"I'm quite curious as to why Ate Havria likes the goddess of dust, if anything, it seems as if you're very in love that you'd get down on your kne-" Khoi was cut off from analyzing further when you pinched him lightly.
"Khoi, we don't discuss kinks on the dinner table..." You smiled, trying not to allow khoi to continue spilling the tea. "Tell me everything later Khoi.." Beisht whispered.
"Ahem! Maybe this dinner? there will be a feast in the Guili Assembly tonight.." Havria felt excited to introduce Guizhong to her beloved sibings.
------
"Guizhong, these are my siblings! This is my older sister or Ate Y/n, you arleady know Beisht, but she is also my sister, my younger brothers, Kuni and Khoi!" Havria cheerfully introduced you all, oblivious to Guizhong' inner turmoil.
"Lovely to meet you Guizhong! Ito ang ka jowa mo Havria?~"(This is your lover Havria?~)You teased her, Beisht merely giggled heartily.
"Ate please..-" Guizhong was cut off when she noticed her lover's nervousness. "H-Hello Lady Star!—" Guizhong had her shoulders pat by you. "You needn't use that sister-in-law!" Guizhong blushed with embarrassment. Beisht and the two boys just nodded.
"Right.. You already know my brother Morax and Osial, speaking of which here they are-"
"Hi honey!" Beisht chirped as Osial was surprised to see her- "Wait darling, you had siblings??" Osial asked. "You never listen do you." The temperature dropped as Beisht started ignoring Osial who tried to please his wife.
"Where is Haishan, Osial?" Beisht asked. "I-" Osial was cut off when a big ass explosion happened in the distance that seemed like fire..works.
"That looks like Khoi's attempted fireworks..." You trailed off your sentence and looked at Havria. "I- Morax that part of the land is not yours right?" Havria asked.
"I do not believe so..?" Morax replied. Havria seemed to be relieved..? "Good, i was gonna make them fix it up but I'll just bury them in the ground."
Havria turned herself to salt and used the small air particles to move herself.
Boom!
"Well shit, I think i have to get them. What a chaotic family, my chaotic family." You said as you quickly teleported to stop Havria from destroying more property, and also killing your siblings.
The end.

Xiao being tipsy in front of Aether
Inspired by @kiboyr on Youtube! Go check them out!
C.W. - Paimon being a little shit - Xiao being a bit tipsy - Aether being the forward one - Kiss and make out (mild sexual content) - Past Zhongli/Guizhong - Guizhong dead - Mentioned Zhongli, Guizhong, Venti and Verr Goldet
.
.
.
To my lovely traveller,
The breeze combing through your hair today feels a little different, don't you think? A little sweet with a hint of grapes, right?
You must be wondering, you’re in Wangshu Inn, why would you feel my breeze?
Hehe, that’s because I have left a gift for you.
A few days ago, I paid a visit to this very same inn to try out their drinks, and guess who did I meet?
If you’re guessing your beloved Vigilant Yaksha, you’re correct! Though he declined my offer for a few cups of drinks and company, I left him a gift and I told him this,
“No takesies-backsies!”
And I immediately left with the wind before he could process what’s happening.
If you could smell it right now, I wouldn’t be surprised if you could pick a hint of sweetness in today’s wind. That’s because I left him a bottle of wine, haha!
I know Xiao would only keep it instead of trying it, so I may have told a little lie that it may help with his karmic debt. I know, I know… it’s not good to lie about this.
Still, wine and any kind of alcohol have been therapeutic to me. Almost like… a salvation.
Nah, that was too strong of a word.
So, if anything goes wrong with Xiao– in which the worst scenario is being tipsy, you can take care of him!
How did I know you’d be here today? Well, a certain pretty bird told me– or rather, a pretty lady working in the inn told me about your upcoming visit.
I do apologise for giving you this task which is partially my fault, but hey– at least you and Xiao can spend more time together, ehe!
From your favourite bard,
Venti.
“Oh Venti…” Aether folds the letter neatly, letting out a sigh of resignation.
Though, Paimon doesn’t notice the upward curve on Aether’s lips.
“Hmm… Paimon doesn’t get why that tone-deaf bard is doing this,” Paimon says as Paimon floats in the air, munching on some cookies. “But we should check up on Xiao to see if he’s okay.”
“Paimon, why don’t you let me handle this one?” Aether asks.
“But Paimon wants to help!” Paimon stomps her feet in the air. “Hmph! You always leave Paimon alone when it comes to stuff like this! Paimon is not nosy, Paimon is just concerned!”
“I know, Paimon…” Aether lets out a sigh once again.
It’s just that you always say the wrong things at the wrong time…
Aether could never forget that moment when Paimon, out of concern, asked about Navia’s parents whereabouts… even when Navia had told them both that they passed away years ago!
Or how Paimon was so rude to Furina that Aether almost wanted to knock Paimon’s head.
Paimon totally though you were just a bit of a diva at first.
Oh, sounds like you’re really struggling to cope… Ah, there it is. You don’t know how to cook!
Oh… Right, Paimon totally forgot both your parents are dead.
Even with that faint recollection, Aether’s ears feel red from remembering these moments. It wasn’t the first time for Paimon to say such insensitive words, and Aether is sure it wouldn’t be the last.
“Paimon, why don’t you go and order some food?”
“But–”
Aether quickly brings up a small bag of mora from his inventory, shutting Paimon up instantly. The moment Paimon could hear the clinking sound of coins in the pouch, her eyes were shimmering like the stars tonight.
“Thank you Aether!” Paimon gives Aether a hug that almost choked his neck, then grabs the bag of mora and finds herself a seat in Wangshu Inn to order what Paimon wants for today’s dinner.
As soon as Paimon is out of his sight, the golden-haired traveller walks up to the lady named Verr Goldet, who is wearing a traditional, dark red, Liyue overcoat with gold accents and a chunky orange bracelet on each of her arms.
“Welcome, traveller.” She smiles at him, just like how she would to any customers. “What’ll you have? We have dishes from both Mondstadt and Liyue, and our Almond Tofu is particularly popular.”
“Then, I’d like a dish of almond tofu, please.”
A few minutes later, the dessert is right in his hands. It has a silky-smooth texture with a long-lasting aroma of almond. Perfect for the adepti.
He then quickly walks up to the inn’s topmost floor, where customers could see the whole view of Liyue: Rocky mountains that stands tall and proud alongside the stone forests, the open plains and lively rivers make up Liyue's bountiful landscape, all of which shows its unique beauty through each of the four seasons.
As Aether could only hear the soft breeze, he called out a name, softly.
“Xiao?”
“You called my name, traveller. What do you need assistance with?” Aether quickly turns around to find the Vigilant Yaksha appearing in front of him, with hints of wispy black smoke. The first thing Aether instantly notices is the tint of blush around Xiao’s ears and cheeks.
“If… you don’t need anything, then I shall take my leave right now once and for all. I don’t have time for your mortal ideals, humans do waste my time–”
“Wait! I called you because…” Aether takes a deep breath before he continues, stretching out his hands to show him the dish. After all, he didn’t want Xiao to disappear on him again, which the yaksha would always disappear with a wispy black green smoke behind.
Truly a signature move.
“I want to give you almond tofu and… I’d like you to stay for a bit.”
“Huh? Almond tofu?” That made the Vigilant Yaksha’s ears perk up, raising an eyebrow. He looks up and down, both to Aether and the delectable dish in his hands. “So, you just want me to stay in your presence…?”
Aether’s eyes shine bright like a puppy, twinking with pity.
“Oh, fine. But only this once.”
Settling himself onto a stool, the Vigilant Yaksha slowly chews onto his plate of almond tofu, savouring its silky sweetness. Meanwhile, the traveller sat right next to him, smugly stares at Xiao’s tipsy state as he continues to chew onto the tofu. Aether’s eyes follows the gentle movement of Xiao’s hands as he brought the porcelain spoon to his mouth, savouring each bite of his meal.
“Why are you staring at me like this?” Xiao asks, noticing Aether’s burning stare on his left cheek. “You’re staring at me weirdly while I’m eating, I dislike it… I demand you to stop.”
A soft smile grace Aether’s lips, reflecting the joy he found in simply being in his presence. He admires the way Xiao savoured the almond tofu, the way his eyes would gradually light up with delight at every delicious morsel.
“Traveller… you’re being very, very quiet tonight.” Xiao puts his spoon down on the finished plate. “You really want me to stay, huh?”
All Aether could do was to prop his chin up with the heel of his hand, smiling at him in return. In that moment, Xiao could feel the traveller’s eyes lingering on his face, tracing every line, etching each detail into his memory: The flustered, furious blush, the prickling heat fanning across his chest and creeping up his neck, along with his clenched fists under the table.
“Fine, so be it.” Xiao quickly turns his head to avoid the traveller’s gaze, hiding his own expression. “I shall stay by your side, just… just this once.”
Ba-bump! Ba-bump! Ba-bump!
“...What is this feeling?” Xiao mutters the question to himself. “Why am I… feeling like this?”
Heart, I demand you to stop feeling like this! NOW!
Letting his guard down, Aether gently holds Xiao’s chin with his fingers, turning his head to face each other, his touch tender and affectionate.
“Oh Xiao~~”
That only made Xiao’s face as red as a Jueyun Chili, stumbling on his sentence. “T– Traveller… Y– You c– You dare to consort me to your pleasure?! How absurd!”
Xiao removes himself from the golden-haired hero’s hands, standing up abruptly before he tries to walk away.
“Xiao, you know I wouldn’t do something like this.” He could feel that the traveller's words were firm from behind. “You’re blushing, by the way.”
“Enough!” Xiao puts his hand to his chest, clutching onto the fabric of his uniform. He could not stop his heart from fluttering like a butterfly spreading its wings when it saw a Qingxin flower. “I hate this feeling…”
“Describe it to me then, maybe I can help.” Aether’s voice is as gentle as always, and it makes Xiao’s heart pang. “Xiao, I know you’ve been holding back. You don’t have to say everything if you don’t want to, but I will listen.”
“This feeling… uneasiness.” Xiao reluctantly replies, trying to piece his sentences in place. “Your presence isn’t scary but– it’s strange at the same time. I don’t get it, I really don’t.”
To Xiao, he’d always ask himself this question.
Can one who has lived in darkness dreamt of a sun?

Who do you think would be friends with whom between the Fatui and the people from Guili Assembly?
Say, the Tsaritsa and Labolas 'coz they're both Childe's mother figures.
What about Arlecchino, Guizhong and the others?
you're probably right about the tsaritsa and labolas, but i think the tsaritsa and guizhong would also get along rather well. also the tsaritsa and morax. that woman will adopt literally everyone that looks younger than her. arlecchino in this au is Actually A Good Parent to the orphanage kids, so she'd probably end up being all like "go spend time with your boyfriend, Tartaglia, i'll take care of the kids" and all the children of the assembly would immediately adopt her as their wine aunt from a different world. she'd also get along great with skirochka. i think you can add pulcinella to this as well. i think columbina and sandrone would get along nicely with madame ping, and sandrone would be like... fondly exasperated of guizhong's needling about how her wheelchair works. capitano would probably get along rather well with morax and depth claws. and like. zhihao. it'd be funny. i think moon carver and mountain shaper would inadvertedly adopt pierro and pulcinella into their old coots club. pulcinella would enjoy chatting with them while pierro just sits there wondering what his life has become. he'd never admit he actually finds the topics of conversation interesting. as for the rest, i honestly don't know. i think pantalone and guizhong and morax would have quite a bit to talk about, but i find it kinda funny to think that pantalone would get along like a house on fire with urth (sal vindagnyr's princes). i know she was hardly in the story but i had a bit of personality thought up for her and she'd get along great with pantalone. they would bully dottore to hell and back together. i'd also like to think he'd take a liking to nadezhda.
i think scara and trail clearer would get along well. also aspasia. like i think if you sit scara down to just chat with a pair of normal, kinda quiet, kinda lowkey ladies without any expectations he'd rather enjoy himself. free therapy. dottore would NOT let him live it down though.
i have no idea who dottore and signora would get along with. signora i could see ending up with moon carver and mountain shaper in the old coots group just to bully pierro with pulcinella and share gossip with them.
dottore i still got no clue. i guess like. genuinely? if he finds out about ajax' planning to see how he can bring about the blorbos' existence? i think he'd get overly invested in that. like run the calculations make the science do the maths kinda invested. he's a researcher at heart, and if he's not a piece of garbage in this au, then he's not doing reprehensible stuff on the sidelines. ajax comes in one day to visit and offhandedly mentions his idea to arlecchino, who comments it to dottore without really thinking much of it. when ajax next drops by the madman finds him and sits him down for a five-hour presentation on genetics and science and probability and the maths behind the entire operation. he saddles him with a backpack full of folders and papers that ajax can hardly read bc dottore's handwriting is absolute dogshit, and sends him off back to teyvat. ajax has no clue wtf happened. guizhong finds the entire ordeal hilarious.
#interesting question actually#these are all in the not-all-that-implausible scenarios where ajax brings the harbingers over to teyvat for like#a day trip#or the other way around - bringing some of the adepti to his world for a visit#or smth#anyway#thank you <3
