Masterpost
Hello five people who will look at this blog!
Here is a general overview of what's in this AU and some of what's changed in canon. I won't be re-explaining the entire show (I don't hate myself that much) but when it becomes relevant and/or I have an idea, I will put it here. Like I said in the description, let me know if you need anything tagged
If you have any questions about this AU, the characters, the ships, please ask me! My dumb brain can't remember everything I've come up for from this AU, and answering questions helps me cement everything in my head.
I will use "#the season 7 rewrite" and "#the next gen verse" for my stuff, "#other people's ideas" for other people's stuff, and "#adjacent" for stuff that won't really fit into either category.
This is a queer friendly space. This AU includes trans and non-binary characters, characters in same-sex relationships, aromantic and asexual characters, and queer M/F presenting pairings. If this bothers you, leave and come back when you're a better person.
Mega Change: Hope and Alice are now twin sisters, and Alice takes on more of a role like Rapunzel in Tangled. More on that below.
Ships: Since shipping is...what it is, I decided to lay out all the main ships that show up in this AU, either Next Gen ships or canon. Don't like, don't read ect, ect
Captain Swan
Snowing
Rumbelle (potentially past, I'm workshopping a bit)
Belle X OC (potentially)
Outlaw Queen (past for a bit, but Robin's coming back, don't worry)
Glass Believer
Curious Archer/Mad Archer
Cygnet Scholar (Hope Swan-Jones x Gideon Gold)
Sleeping Prince/Prince Squared (Neal "Leo" Nolan x Philip II)
There are some other ships as well, but these are the main ones. I might make a post of all the ships eventually, because making up ship names for this fandom is really fun.
Rewrites: This section's gonna be a doozy, so I'm splitting it into three sections; Timeline, Character, and Plot
Timeline *sounds of crying come from the distance*
Timeline and ages are two of the worst documented things in this show. I'm not even going to try with the older characters, but for the younger characters, an attempt was made, starting with Lily's birth and abandonment in 1982, Land Without Magic (LWM) Time.
My AU takes place twenty years after Season 1, so around 2031 LWM Time.
Some of this is headcanon, and most of this is probably wrong, but this works for me, so don't correct me and make this even more complicated than it already is plz.
Timeline:
1982:
Lily is born to Maleficent and Zorro
1983: Storybrooke’s Creation
Emma is born to Snow and David (October 22nd)
~eighteen years later~
2001:
Henry is born to Emma and adopted by Regina three weeks later (August 15th-September 1st)
~six years later~
2007:
Roland is born in the EF to Robin Hood and Marian (February)
~four years later~
2011: Season 1 (October-December)
Henry is ten
Alexandra is born to Ella and Thomas (October 29th)
2012: Season 1 (January-February)
Season 2 (February-???)
Season 3 a
2013: Season 3 b
Neal Nolan is born to Snow and David (May)
Philip II is born to Philip I and Aurora (July)
Season 4 (November)
Season 5 (December)
Robyn Hood is born to Robin and Zelena (December)
2014: Season 5 (January-??)
Season 6
Gideon is born to Belle and Rumplestiltskin (March)
2015:
Hope and Alice are born to Emma and Killian (April)
Alice is kidnapped by Gothel (May)
~seven years later~
2023:
Benjamin is born to Snow and David (January)
2024:
Charles is born to Thomas and Ella (February)
Arabella is born to Philip I and Aurora (August)
2025:
Lucy is born to Henry and Jacinda (August 15th)
~five years later~
2031: Twenty Years Since Season 1
Character: I am not a huge fan of the multiverse, let me just say that now.
Trying to retcon everyone I liked from Season 7 into the same universe as the rest of the show was daunting (I'm looking at you, Jacinda) but the way I see it is this: Like the show said, there are so many different versions of fairytales out there, but there are also similar fairytales that have nothing to do with each other except common tropes (like Allerleirauh and Cinderella for instance.)
So maybe Alice Liddell and Alice Jones can exist in the same universe, because while they both are called Alice and went to Wonderland, they have totally different stories.
(This entire block of text was mainly about the whole Jacinda/Ella and Ashley/Ella situation)
Alice Jones (mega rewrite incoming): Alice is the twin sister of Hope (older by thirty minutes), and is the daughter of Emma and Killian. She is the new Savior. Gothel kidnaped Alice when she was a month old, and raised her in a tower in the Enchanted Forest for twelve years, just like Rapunzel in Tangled.
When Alice was twelve, she overheard Gothel saying that she was kidnaped, and was able to use her powers to escape. She tried to portal home, but ended up in Wonderland, because her favorite book was Alice in Wonderland, and so she considered it 'home.'
Alice lived in Wonderland for four years, until Will and Anastasia found her and took her to Storybrooke, where she was reunited with her family.
I also thought the whole "hey look at my Guardian OC, they're even more powerful than saviors and they can't be affected by dark magic and they have unlimited power and-" was suuuper dull. So, Alice is a Savior, just like her momma. And this way, it creates a dramatic irony that Gothel, who took Alice to save her own skin, ended up taking the Savior who is destined to destroy her.
Gothel: tbw
Regina: So, it's been a while since I've seen some of the later seasons of OUAT, but as far as I remember...Regina never wanted to be queen, right? Obviously she regrets not being a good queen to her people, but becoming queen was always what Cora wanted for her: Regina herself just wanted to be loved.
So I found it kind of odd that, at the end of Season 7, Regina became the queen of every realm. As cathartic as it is for Regina to receive the title of "The Good Queen" rather than "The Evil Queen," I kind of feel like this is a hollow attempt to give Regina her Happy Ending (after A&E killed her actual Happy Ending off, of course.)
I really feel like the best ending for Regina would be for her to remain Storybrooke's mayor. She can still be a leader and make up for her mistreatment of her people, and I feel like she can do that even better as mayor; she can hear them out and take their criticisms much easier as mayor than Queen. Additionally, being the leader of a smaller town means that the love of her people means something more. Ruling over millions of people from several realms doesn't exactly give anyone the warm fuzzies, yah know?
AND being mayor would give her more freedom and self-expression away from her mother's influence, so that way, she could have her cake and eat it, too.
Snow and David: I have to say, the later seasons (even the seasons I actually liked) did Snow SO dirty--and no, this isn't about the Lily thing. I won't turn this into a rant, but just know that that is my position as of now.
Snow and David still have their farm, but Snow is Queen of Misthaven now. She operates mostly out of Storybrooke (for plot reasons) and she, Regina, and the other rulers of the Kingdoms regularly team up and advise each other. Neal (Leo) is their heir, as Emma turned it down.
Jacinda: Here's where it gets complicated.
Jacinda is SUCH a pretty name, I always thought it was kinda sucky that it was Ella's "cursed" name. So in this AU, Jacinda is her real name. Original Cinderella (Ashley) gets to keep Ella because 1) She was here first and 2) Ashley is a way lamer name than Jacinda.
After much thinking and stressing, I have decided that Jacinda and Ella are still both Cinderella...sorta. Jacinda's story will be reminiscent of the Grimm's version (with some OUAT twists) while Ella's will be based of Perrault's version. The only things I'll switch are the shoes, since Jacinda's whole ship with Henry kind of revolves around GLASS slippers. (In the Grimm version, they were golden slippers, which I will give to Ella instead)
To make things simple: Jacinda never gets a Fairy Godmother, there's a pear tree involved, no pumpkin coach, there are three balls, birds, and glass slippers.
Ella has (had lol, thanks Rumple) a Fairy Godmother, a pumpkin coach and animal coachmen, a single ball, gold slippers, and the nickname Cinderella.
Does it make sense? No.
Is it important to my Next Gen Verse? Also no. So I ain't stressing it.
Jacinda's and Ella's Families: Another easy one. Ella gets the Tremaine name (she was here first, and her story aligns better with the Disney movie) while Jacinda's is changed to Belfrey.
Also, I thought that the whole "Rapunzel is also Lady Tremaine" thing was dumb as all hell, so that just straight up doesn't exist. To keep it simple, I used Victoria and Ivy for Rapunzel and Drizella, and just shortened Anastasia to Ana, because there are both an Anna and an Anastasia in this universe.
Many other characters remain the same: Tiana and Naveen, Facilier (except his and Regina's thing), Hansel turning evil for no reason (I thought that was hilarious) and a few others who don't matter.
I will add more to this post as I think of things.

Small reminder to my followers (and myself to make future headcanons) that my Fire Emblem Muses: Robin (Awakening) and Byleth (Three Houses) have a main verse joined with @blaschoice ‘s Robin and Byleth as twins. I need to get better at referring to them by their twin verse names, but most interactions with them will have them acting as if they have a brother. That’s all.
#headcanon#headcanon byleth#headcanon robin#;Twin Verse (Robyn)#;Twin Verse (Beles)#i need to post more headcanons detailing how the stories differ with them having siblings#but yeah

Nitpick Number 15 - Arguably very similar to the nitpick for yesterday, but adult women interacting with adult men in this show tends to feel very weird at times with the differences in how they chose to design the adult women verses the adult men.
The women are all designed to have bigger eyes, rounder heads, narrower shoulders, and their body types tend to be similar/the same as the body types of the younger fifteen-nineteen year old crowd, whereas the men are typically designed with slightly more realistic proportions in the face and smaller heads, while mostly being tall, leading for even very thin characters like Qrow and Watts to look more well balanced. In some cases, it’s easy to forget, and characters like Robyn and Elm blend in better while interacting with male characters. But the characters who look pretty young like Cinder, Neo, Harriet, Winter, Raven, Amber... They all look like teenagers, so when they’re with characters that are designed more like adults, it makes them look even more like kids.
Just speaking of design, sometimes it can totally wreck all emersion as audience members laugh that the Branwen twins look so comically different, or exclaim about how bobble-headed Salem looks next to Oz, or get confused because Willow has a bigger and wider head than her fourteen to sixteen year old son.
Very weirdly done.

From a musician’s eyes (drabble)
This is a short piece of writing, in which Arvid lets us into his world - the world of a lead singer in a metal band. It was intended as a part of Livsstrid, the novel in which he and his two sisters are main characters, but has not yet made it there. I wrote it a while ago, and while it might seem a bit imperfect, I am quite happy with it - and I hope that you will be, too.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What a great feeling, to know the crowd.
Or at least a few faces in it. There are always new people at our every gig, yet “unconverted” to our music, as Vidar and Loke used to joke in the beginning. And that’s always wonderful.
It’s no concert, per se - we are at a bar, jamming downstairs where there is a small stage we left our instruments on when we first arrived. But so what? It doesn’t really matter how big the crowd is, or at least it doesn’t matter to me. What matters, though, is to see - or rather, to know that your music is making them feel fantastic and that everyone is having fun, or, of course, are rediscovering themselves in your tunes if it’s their first time listening to you.
And I can see that people are definitely having fun. Not only is everyone dancing along to the music as we perform, but some are singing, and they all have this strange and yet happy look on their faces as if they are in some other world, as if they are having an out-of-body experience of some kind. Huh, alright. I have indeed heard that some kinds of music can touch you. Or that a musician has to be truly talented in order to incite such behaviour from his or her crowd. Whichever it is, the experience is absolutely magical, literally and figuratively. From the moment I put the guitar on, strap over my shoulder, instrument in hands, and I stepped in front of the microphone... I changed. We all changed and entered the world our songs sung about - a world of revolution, of protest, of soft, gentle, slow solos that suddenly explode into verses that shake you, pointing the truth right in your face - the truth in the stories about so many aspects and fragments of everyone’s lives that it is impossible not to find yourself somewhere in them. And then all of this with a touch of wondering - is Satan right, is God wrong, will His Infernal Majesty lead the way, will he help us find it alone instead, or do all those good and evil forces not exist and we have to decide everything for ourselves? People call our music life-oriented, they say it is as much about reality as it is about surreality. And, perhaps, this is exactly where the truth lies in general, too.
We sing about hope, about faith, first in yourself and then in life... then we tell stories of the end of the world, we wonder what the meaning of life is, where we belong in this world. We sing about love and about hatred, and we sing about the consequences they have on people. We sing about friendship and ignorance, and about the impact on a person’s world they can have. Luck and misfortune, faith and disbelief, anger and peacefulness, being lost and finding yourself... our songs as if create themselves anew. Yes, we might still be in the process of recording our second album, but as we play ones from the first, I can feel all of us, my band-mates and I, are already on the road to discovering more ideas for the second. Perhaps, since we focused a lot on the world that we live in, we can now focus on the individual person and explore him and his own little universe...
I catch a glimpse of my sisters in the crowd. Both of twin sisters are there, Rigmor with her boyfriend - the tattoo artist and violinist - and Robyn, the writer. The three of them are each enjoying the music in their own ways - Rigmor looks like she is not there at all and the music has taken her to another world, Robyn is dancing to themselves, and Kieran is playing an invisible guitar in the air while dancing, which makes me laugh. I’m curious how we would sound if we record a song with him on the violin or the cello.
Then I look at my friends onstage. Sigge, the back vocalist with the keyboard, has lost himself into music. Nothing matters for him now - nothing but the melody. Vidar and Loke, the drummer and the bassist, are as if meditating, their minds focused completely on what we are playing at the moment. The three of them are as if wearing melodies, and not just mere sounds, but tunes that fit each other in their chaos, melodies that sound so perfect together that if you ever heard them separately, you would never believe your ears that this is, in fact, them.
And, finally, I look out into the crowd before us. So many people, so many fates entwined with other... although there are definitely less than eighty people - no, even less, I would even bet they are less than fifty, the room is too small to contain more than that - their fates are entwined with so many others'... friends, family members, acquaintances, rivals, co-workers, lovers, husbands, wives, children... who knows how many others are attending our gig just by being present in the minds of our audience...
But that doesn't really matter. The more, the merrier.
What matters is that we make people happy with what we do - and not any kind of material prize is going to make us feel better.
The smiles in the audience and the glowing flames of joy in their eyes.
That’s what makes us feel worthy.
That’s what makes us complete.

NOT Live Blogging RWBY Vol. 7
Guess who has two thumbs and finally finished watching RWBY Volume 7? This gal! So I decided I’d post my thoughts on the volume. I’m kind of disappointed I didn’t get to properly live blog it, but I guess right now this is the best I can do.
(So is…is tumblr still a thing? Or has whatever company that owns it now finally run the site completely into the ground. Maybe the question I should be asking is: does anyone still follow my blog?)
I think in the interest of not rambling too wildly I’m going to organize my thoughts into broad categories. So, here we go.
Visuals
If nothing else, this volume was a feast for the eyes. I’m impressed that RWBY continues to noticeably improve its visuals with each Volume. Honestly, at this point I don’t see the need for further improvement. The character models are appropriately stylized, the backgrounds are gorgeous, and the last of the kinks have (finally) been worked out of the animation.
What I’m less enthused about is the costume design. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not bad. It’s just not great. Penny’s new design works. Ruby’s outfit is virtually identical to her last one, so she gets a pass. Weiss’s is close, oh so close. I like the basic design, but I think the colors needed some more tweaking. Blake’s outfit is…. Well, I don’t know. I think I’m going to call it mildly nonsensical. I’m digging the haircut though. (Same goes for Jaune!) Yang and Neo’s new clothes are so-so at best, and Cinder’s are downright awful. Strangely enough, it’s Team JN_R that wins the best-dressed award in my book. They’re new outfits look far better than Weiss’s, Blake’s, and Yang’s by a mile.
I guess I should count my blessings. After Neo and Cinder’s new outfits debuted at the end of Volume 6 I was afraid that everyone might end up looking like lampshades. Or maybe fetishists not fully committing to the part.
Story
Up until about Episode 10 I was going to call this volume the good twin to Volume 4’s evil twin. A volume of RWBY that lacked the high-highs and the low-lows that are so endemic of the franchise. The difference between the two being that Volume 4 was painfully mediocre, while Volume 7 was pretty good. But it turns out I was wrong. The entirety of Volume 7 was, in my opinion, nothing more than a build-up to the big finale. And what a finale it was! But maybe I shouldn’t get ahead of myself.
The first episode really won brownie points with me for basically doing the bad part of Volume 6 (Team RWBY spitting in the face of authority) except doing it right. It turns out that authority figures aren’t always “whimsical” caricatures masquerading as antagonists. (Sorry, I really hated Caroline, and not in a good way.) It also turns out that sometimes the authorities aren’t utterly incompetent. In many ways the Ace-Ops arresting Team RWBY reminded me of a less extreme version of the ending of the fourth Hunger Games movie. Specifically the part where Katniss and company decide to storm the castle and utterly fail. You know, the part where the movie transformed from an uninspired parody of itself to the absolute highlight of the entire franchise?
And then a bunch of stuff happened, some of which I’ll discuss in the next section. And then there were some really great fights. Oh yes, and then Salem shows up. Bye-bye Atlas! You. Are. Outta here!
Honestly, the only thing I didn’t much care for story-wise was Penny becoming the new Winter Maiden. It’s not because I don’t like the concept; it’s because it feels like they didn’t put any thought into the idea other than “let’s make Penny the Winter Maiden”. I’ll withhold judgment for now. It’s only fair that I wait and see where they go with it.
Characters
Believe it or not, I don’t have much to say about Team RWBY themselves in this section. Development-wise this volume was almost exclusively focused on other characters. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing, although it wouldn’t be my first choice if I had my druthers. Honestly, Weiss, Blake, and Yang’s character arcs have largely been concluded at this point. Only Ruby’s left with outstanding issues regarding her mother. So…yeah. Maybe that bodes poorly for the franchise’s future now that I think about it? Or at least my own personal enjoyment of it? Eh, I’ll worry about that later. I should talk about all the other characters!
Team JN_R – I was a bit surprised at the lack of Jaune-related content this volume. They didn’t even deign to make him suffer much. But with a cast as big as RWBY’s, it’s not the first time we’ve seen a character take a volume off as it were. The big news here is that they actually attempted to give Ren a character and bring him into conflict with Nora. I…. Well, I don’t really think they succeeded, to be honest. As is a common problem in RWBY, there really wasn’t enough time to let the idea be fully realized. But I appreciate the effort.
The Ace-Ops – Oh, I had these guys pegged as the volume’s final bosses from the get-go. And I was not disappointed. As one-off antagonists, they worked. I can’t remember any of their names though. Except for Clover’s, and I’ll talk about him and Qrow in the section below.
Penny – It’s about time she came back. We all knew that was going to happen, right? And while I’m on the subject, Pietro was a nice side character too.
Oscar – He was there.
Robyn – I’m not sure what to say about her, to be honest. She was a good enough character, and played her role in the story well. But I never felt like she rose above her role.
Neo – You know who my favorite RWBY character is? It’s Yang, obviously. And do you know who the most strongly characterized RWBY character is? It’s the late Roman Torchwick of course. But do you know who takes second place in both of those categories? Neo. Kind of ironic for that second one given that she doesn’t speak. Neo did not disappoint this volume. She never disappoints. And I’ve said it before, on this very blog I think. In terms of raw-skill, Neo is one of the most dangerous characters in the RWBY-verse. Team JN_R vs. Neo? No contest. Although I am amused that Jaune got the only real hit on her. I’m even more amused that it somehow felt appropriate.
Cinder – Again I continue to really like post-Volume 4 Cinder. No matter how hard she tries, the universe just won’t stop kicking her in the teeth. And it just fits her character so well. Bravo Rooster Teeth!
Winter – Winter’s battle might not have been the most fun. That goes to Neo vs. some bush leaguers. It might not have been the most creative. That goes to Team RWBY vs. the Ace-Ops. But by God, no one put in more effort than Winter. She has my utmost respect.
Weiss’s Mom – Hey, she exists! Nice!
Dr. Watts – So much smarm. So much arrogance. I should hate him, but I really don’t. He’s just great.
Ironwood – And the best for last. Oh my. Oh my, oh my, oh my. His arc this volume was absolutely perfect. It was given enough time to be believable, amazing for a show like RWBY, and every step along his journey made sense. He’s become my absolute favorite kind of antagonist, the kind that believes what they’re doing is right. And here’s the thing, I can’t say that Ironwood is wrong. I don’t think he’s right, but I can’t say that he’s wrong. Give me an Ironwood over a Tyrian any day of the week. Please give me an Ironwood over a Tyrian.
The Gay Agenda
*singing* Qrow has a boyfriend….
Er…. Qrow had a boyfriend. And then Clover got Bury Your Gays’d. I’m kind of disappointed, but I’m kind of not. After all, the universe has long since ordained that it is Qrow’s lot in life to suffer.
To tell the truth I’m deeply divided on how I feel about RWBY’s take on the gays. The homoromantic subtext between Yang and Blake has reached levels equivalent to Season 3 of Xena: Warrior Princess. And Qrow and Clover were about there too. On one hand, I’m happily drinking it all up. On the other hand, I want to call Rooster Teeth a bunch of cowards. It’s not 1999 anymore. You can make characters gay. RWBY has made (side) characters gay. At best I’m expecting them to pull a Legend of Korra and only make things “official” at the very end of the show, a resolution I found deeply unsatisfying. But if I were running the show, would I do things differently? Well, yes I would. But would it be the correct decision from a revenue perspective? I’m assuming that RWBY is a, let’s say, important show for Rooster Teeth. I base this assumption on the fact that they announced three RWBY-adjacent spin-offs just after Volume 7 finished. Perhaps they feel they can’t take any risks with something so popular? Perhaps they don’t particularly care. Again, I don’t know how to feel about it.
Conclusion
Homoromanticism aside, (Never!) is Volume 7 the best volume ever? It might be. Only Volumes 1 and 5 can contend with it for consistent high quality. If I had to declare one volume as the best overall, this would probably be it. That being said, I doubt anything will ever supplant the Yang and Blake vs. Adam fight in Volume 6 as my favorite part of RWBY. I still can’t believe they paid that off so well. Three years of anticipation and they fulfilled my every expectation.
Wait, what was I talking about again? Oh yeah. Volume 7. It was good.

This is under the cut because it is a really long post but I really wanted to share some screenshots of the chaos that is my Gotham/Batman Verse sims because oh good lord-
Practically all the appliances in Ivy’s apartment broke, she didn’t care.
Oswald @ Isabella
Oswald @ Edward
Riddler is already 100% done
Oswald and Ed the dog have a lot of staredowns-
Edward and Oswald got married, Riddler and Zsasz fought at the wedding-
I have no idea what they are looking at as the tv was not on-
Selina accidentally set herself on fire while adopting a cat
Tucker and Esther were being cute but then I noticed creeping child Oswald in the background XD
RIDDLER IS NOT WEARING SHOES FOR SOME REASON?? (Also this was him and Kristen on vacation-)
Ed and Riddler 1) went to a restaurant together and 2) interrupted Zsasz’s damn meal
The Valeska twins showed up at Penn’s welcoming wagon-
Socko is smol and he sleep
While Scarface and Officer O’Hara look like they are about to murder each other-
Edward over uses the ice cream machine so he can have ice cream for breakfast everyday
Elijah...finger gunning-
Edward wanted to relax in the kiddie pool for some reason?
Ed the dog constantly follows Penn around and I think that says something about the state of this household
Riddler singing karaoke
Oswald is shocked (Not pictured: Edward suddenly walking inside naked)
Jim isn’t exactly the best cook-
I don’t even remember the context of this one
Robyn and his heckin smol apartment
This is just a cute Elijah to balance the chaos
Jim invited Kristen to the curry festival-
#Gotham#Sims 4#The Sims 4#I love them all but#good golly gee#This is only a small portion of the weird screenshots I have of this save#The Gotham sims are most chaotic natrually

okay, so alex and nat won't have children of course (nor are they even remotely romantically involved) but I just couldn't help... Nat and Pietro, cause I freaking love these two!!! And this is I mean if you want to :D
meme ( not accepting ! )
Name: wren maximoff
Gender: female
General Appearance: dark hair and green eyes ; she looks quite like the younger image of nat, though her skin is fairer and she doesn’t have any freckles.
Personality: known for her boldness and friendliness, wren is the more friendly and open twin ( her younger brother is much more quiet and reserved, holding affection only for his family and close friends ). however, her stubbornness and rather overbearing sense of authority and responsibility may come to overwhelm those who interact with her ( something she inherited from both her mother and her father ; the well-known trait of oldest siblings : responsibility ).
Special Talents: surprisingly, she holds a talent for softball ( something that her mother quietly admired and encouraged ). she plays as a pitcher, and holds immense strength in her arms and is known to be their fastest runner.
Who they like better: wren and pietro often clash heads with their stubborn nature and her father’s overprotective nature, though her mother is far more understanding and empathetic to some things that wren admits to. even though she loves her father with all of her heart, her mother is much easier to talk to about some things.
Who they take after more: she takes after pietro a lot more, especially in her stubborn and overprotective nature. as the eldest twin ( as she has a younger brother by 1 minute and 12 seconds ) , she’s much more responsible and caring towards her twin, making sure that he was taken care of - not unlike the way pietro cares for his little sister.
Personal Head canon: as pietro knew of robyn, and had even had the chance of hearing nat’s stories about her ( and in some verses, meeting the girl), he had offered to name their child after her ; in a way, robyn had been their child, but not in the same sense. however, nat decided that just as robyn was her own person, her own sense of a memory to them, this first baby of theirs would be a complete other. nevertheless, wren does hold a sense of admiration towards the girl her mother always talked of, but holds a lingering fear that she won’t find herself as an equal light upon her parents’ lives ( but little does she know that she is their one and only daughter - and no one would take that place ).
#omnecosmos#( ooc ) damn carrie ; back at it again with being unnecessary#weEPS LOUDLY BC OF MY HEADCANON I NEED TO CHILL TBH#( queue )

@mercyburned asked //“ sometimes when you look at me it’s like…it’s like you’re staring straight past my flesh and into my soul. ” / Lucina to Robyn
Prompts For Your Feels
This gave Robyn pause. She’d been excited to delve into a new strategy book she’d received, but making time for Lucina was a higher priority than her love of reading. Unfortunately, what Lucina had to say made Robyn’s heart clench tight and she sucked in a breath.
“Would it help, if I said that all I see is what you give me to see?” True, she tried her best to read between the lines and understand a person’s body language, but Lucina was a big a mystery to her as her own memories were at times.
She couldn’t resist the urge to touch Lucina’s shoulder, grasping it warmly. “I’m sorry if that makes you uncomfortable. Is there anything I can do to ease that feeling? I just.. really want to know you, that’s all.”

DC Reveals First Look at The New #OwnVoices Story ‘Nubia: Real One’
Can you be a hero…if society doesn’t see you as a person?
DC has released a preview of Nubia: Real One, the upcoming #OwnVoices story that puts a fresh twist on the story of Nubia, Wonder Woman’s twin sister. Nubia was created by Robert Kanigher and Don Heck in 1973, when she debuted in Wonder Woman (vol. 1) Issue #204. She has appeared at various points throughout the run of Wonder Woman, but never as the titular character of her own story. Writer L.L. McKinney and cartoonist Robyn Smith have brought a powerful young black woman to the forefront of the story that follows Nubia's life in high school as she navigates a world filled with racial injustice, school violence, and other timely issues.
Illustrated by Robyn Smith
Her Story
Nubia has always been a little bit…different. As a baby, she showcased Amazonian strength by pushing over a tree to rescue her neighbor’s cat. But, despite Nubia’s similar abilities, the world has no problem telling her that she’s no Wonder Woman. And even if she was, they wouldn’t want her. Every time she comes to the rescue, she's reminded of how people see her: as a threat. Her moms do their best to keep her safe, but Nubia can’t deny the fire within her, even if she’s a little awkward about it sometimes. Even if it means people assume the worst.
When Nubia’s best friend, Quisha, is threatened by a boy who thinks he owns the town, Nubia will risk it all— her safety, her home, and her crush on that cute kid in English class — to become the hero society tells her she isn’t.
From the witty and powerful voice behind A Blade So Black, L. L. McKinney, and with endearing and expressive art by Robyn Smith, comes a vital story for today about equality, identity, and kicking it with your squad.

DC DEBUTS FIRST LOOK AT NUBIA: REAL ONE
Acclaimed Author L. L. McKinney and Artist Robyn Smith Join Forces
to Reimagine Character in an #OwnVoices Story for Young Adult Readers
Original Graphic Novel Hits Stores Everywhere Books Are Sold on February 2, 2021
Available to Preorder Now
Next February, fan-favorite young adult (YA) author L. L. McKinney and artist Robyn Smith will put a fresh, contemporary twist on Nubia—the twin sister of Wonder Woman—bringing their authentic voices to the character in Nubia: Real One. The original YA graphic novel is an endearing tale filled with heart and wit and follows a teenage Nubia as she learns to embrace her true self in a world filled with racial inequality, school violence, and other timely issues affecting young people today. The book hits stores and online retailers on February 2, 2021, and today, DC revealed a first look at the story.
McKinney is the author of several acclaimed works including the A Blade So Black trilogy. She is an advocate for equality and inclusion in publishing, and the creator of the hashtag #WhatWoCWritersHear. A self-proclaimed “blerd,” Nubia: Real One marks McKinney’s first work with DC.
“What’s funny is I didn’t initially set out to pitch a Nubia graphic novel,” said McKinney. “I was invited to pitch something else, but I made the decision when writing the pitch itself to add in Nubia. I’ve been a fan since pretty much birth, and I’ve watched her get moved around and appear in various iterations, none of them touching me the same way her original one had. I mean, this was Wonder Woman’s twin sister, just as strong, just as fast, if not stronger and faster. And she was BLACK! So, I added her in to my pitch for the other project. I guess something about her stuck out to the team because they emailed me and essentially asked for a pitch about Nubia.
“Fast-forward and DC loved it. When the hunt for the artist began, I knew I wanted another Black woman on this project. DC was on board from the start and suggested Robyn, whose art I immediately fell in love with. Robyn has breathed life into this story and these characters, and it wouldn’t be half as powerful without her. Everyone loves Nubia, we all want to do right by her, by the readers that have been searching for her the same as I have. I hope fans walk away from this story knowing that first and foremost.”
Smith is a Jamaican cartoonist, currently based in New York City. She is best known for her minicomic The Saddest Angriest Black Girl in Town and for illustrating Jamila Rowser’s comic Wash Day. Nubia: Real One is also her first project with DC.
“As an Afro-Caribbean artist, I’ve always strived to center the Black community in the comics I make, so being hired to illustrate Nubia was a dream,” said Smith. “When I heard L. L. McKinney was the writer, I was even more excited. Working together has been great, especially since our artistic objectives seem to be the same: all Black everything. In Nubia, I wanted to focus my illustrations on creating something both light and emotionally resonant. Most of my work is heavily influenced by Harry Lucey’s Archie, so finding a way to incorporate that charm and joyful feel into a story centered around more serious issues was important to me. I hope fans reading Nubia feel the same sort of excitement I felt illustrating the characters and their beautifully crafted stories.”
Additional contributors to Nubia: Real One include colorists Brie Henderson (interior colors) and Bex Glendining (cover colors).
The original graphic novel is available to preorder now and debuts everywhere books are sold on February 2, 2021, just in time for Black History Month. See attached for covers and interiors revealed today, and below for the official book description.

JESSIE WARE - SPOTLIGHT
[7.88]
Well, we do like / Living under this "Spotlight"
Scott Mildenhall: Jessie Ware borders on the miraculous. It is stupefying how often she has sounded so at one with her songs; even when they're written by Ed Sheeran, her presence is assured and reassuring, quietly commanding. Here she is an extension of the rhythm, and the strings an extension of her longueur. It's magic that this is her career, and magic that she can make a song out of posh chocolate ice cream. [8]
Will Adams: The warmth Ware brings to dance tracks is unmatched. "Spotlight" continues that legacy, with strings draped like silk and a melody that recalls Sally Shapiro's farewell song, a similarly yearning gem. The "single edit" makes me hopeful for a 12" version that keeps the disco fantasy going for over ten minutes. [8]
Wayne Weizhen Zhang: "Spotlight" is an immaculate study in unrequited longing and fantasy. It would slot perfectly in a playlist next to CRJ's "Your Type" or Robyn's "With Every Heartbeat," but the predecessor the lyrics remind me most of is actually Katy B's "I Wanna Be." While the songs don't sound too similar, both singers have a whisper-like, ethereal quality to their voices, and project strength even in their reserved dignity. But the comparison works more because the lyrics line up exactly: Jessie Ware's "Tell me when I'll get more than a dream of you, 'cuz a dream is just a dream and I don't wanna sleep tonight" is a perfect thematic twin to Katy B's "You don't know how good it is to dream of you, I take my time." Both tracks are about love as a transient dream to be savoured, and the fantasy of our dreams being a place of light or dark. Luckily for Jessie, we loved the previous track, so I'm sure this one will get a lot of praise too. [7]
Ian Mathers: I went and checked; sure enough, I gave the last couple Jessie Ware songs I blurbed here [7]s too. She might be my quintessential [7] artist, at least for one version of the score (none of the scores mean exactly the same thing in all cases, welcome to hell, idiot subjectivity, kind reader); the one where [7] means solidly excellent, wouldn't turn away from the radio, fully capable of making me go "oh cool, I love Jessie Ware" when I hear it, but somehow not specifically enough to my taste enough that it becomes one of those songs or bands that are mine, you know? [7]
Alfred Soto: The more assiduously she courts anonymity the stronger she sounds, but the beats could be faster or less designed to turn her into Annie Lennox with disco strings. [6]
Michael Hong: Glasshouse painted foggy sketches of happiness as domesticity, shrouded not with mystery, but portrayed in a way where the details were unimportant. Here, it's the reverse. The shape is more defined but clouded in whispered secrecy. "Spotlight" takes the form of its title -- stare directly at Ware and you'll be blinded by her radiance, but glance from one side and you'll catch only its mystifying silhouette. Taken as a whole, it's more sophisticated than earlier singles, creating tension with the crescent shape of her voice and not needing the previous trio of singles' flash and bang. [8]
Oliver Maier: Decadent disco that should make Mark Ronson green with envy, so exquisite-sounding that I feel like I need a platinum card just to hit replay. Ware is a pro at setting the mood with her velvety voice, but "Spotlight" represents a comprehensive level-up in her already-formidable songwriting. It wallows in the dark corners that Gloria Gaynor resolved to transcend (even sharing the ballad-into-bop bait-and-switch), using tragedy rather than triumph as its axis, though Ware's yearning is so poised that I almost wish she would cut loose a little more. It's not clear to me whether she's a bona fide disco diva or just enchanted with the idea of cosplaying one; then again "Spotlight" seems to ask what the difference is at all, blurring the lines between reality and performance as moonlight and spotlight become interchangeable. Need I overthink it so much? It makes me want to dance on the table and swoon on the couch all at once, a vision of another sleepless night in a string of many that feel like the end of the world. [9]
Pedro João Santos: A good song is like so, irrespective of any bonuses -- but there should be a study on how music videos can enhance the auditory experience. Evidently, it works the audiovisual as a package; an extra medium/opportunity does further to monopolise your attention (music works hard, but the video works harder). But when the union is perfect, while the video mostly remains an opaque signifier for the music, the audio is affected for good. It's recurrent in pop. Case in point: do you think of "We Found Love" and not relive that psychotropic mess of a relationship directed by Melina Matsoukas? I know "New Rules" wouldn't have become half as much of a hit, but would we care about it expurgated from those images of choreographed sorority? Here's Jessie Ware's turn at confounding pop languages, with the disco partly via beauty, partly via foreshadowing of "Spotlight". Call it orchestral Moroder + Ross for the 2020s: it's "MacArthur Park" 2.0 in more than one way, but especially that falsetto-led intro, though the remake reverts to nocturnal bliss and the original boils to a speaking-in-tongues, devastating loss. It sets down a pathway (the visual goes for a hallway) where cryptic riffs meet slap bass, like hands in a darkroom -- the chorus pops in like a trial, and all the other parts of the structure compete for the same vitality it's afforded by nature; in other words, it drops hooks like dollar bills. When the second verse creeps in, the guitar has grown and strings are assumed in plain sight, and this amounts to its inherent visuality: a musical illustration of illumination, the night turning to day, daylight as a goal of dancing through the night. The video knows to play with lighting, never being too on the nose -- and never afraid of digressing (the Serbian wedding dance!) -- unlike the song, whose beauty belies the standard hodgepodge of nighttime infatuations. But who cares? When the middle-8 arises, with the "can't keep" anaphor, it comes in like the suavest dark horse in musical history -- and smoothly catapults the chorus to ecstasy. But the frisson is reserved for the very end: "Tell me when I'll get more than a dream of you" floats like the resolution to the melody teased by strings in the bridge. It all comes out flowing: the spotlight only works in negation of the darkness. [10]
